(01:06):
point from Dodger Stadium. I believewell, I hope, I hope so
because if he doesn't, No,he's not David vest today. I can
remember I said that, and thenI was like later today, we were
giving him respite today and then laterwe will have him on like tomorrow or
something like that. He's gonna cometo Rock and Bruce tomorrow. Yes I

(01:33):
believe. No, no, comeon, Dave, You're coming down.
No, no, no. Ourguest list today is Don McClain this very
hour to talk basketball, and thenwe will have my dad in the next
hour after that to promote his showon Wednesday night at the Catalina, and

(01:53):
that will be two shows and threeweeks for me, Matt, which is
just absolutely mind boggling. And Ibought tickets from a third party, app
accidentally from the camera obscure show thatI went to the other night. And
when I got to the door atthe Wiltern, I got rejected and I
had to buy tickets there and nowthey won't rephone my money. It's bloony.

(02:15):
Yeah, how'd that happen? Youbought fake tickets? I don't know
what happened. I bought a fallNo, yeah, I thought it was
a tickets ticket Master ticket. Theysent me tickets. I put him in
my Apple wallet or whatever. Butdon't buy tickets from ticket Center whatever ticket
Center is. They're frauds. Thatsounds like some Chinese be is. I

(02:35):
know it must have been in Indiaor something like that, but they really
belonged me. It's bloony. It'sa good thing Adam came through and got
your tickets from his guys. Ihad to use two from Adam's guy.
Yeah, and then I had tobuy two of my own. It was
a humiliation. Adam couldn't get youfour, No, he got me two
in the lows. I had tosneak those people down into the gen Pop
so yeah. And then the guyI went to the show with, who

(02:58):
I've known for over twenty years, was like, I forgot what a mess
you are? I well, itwas a real boner. You know.
You roll up to the will turnand parking's a bit of a nightmare.
Hollywood's never fun to be walking around. Well, this is mid Wilshire,
so you know. I mean,it's true. It's Western and Western and
Wiltshire right by where I used tolive. I wanted to go to El

(03:21):
Cholo and have a drink before, but I was running a little late.
Parking wasn't bad, and everything wasgoing quite smoothly. And then I got
up to the thing. I waslike, okay, bling or like you
do it? The cruise ship fringfring. The two people in front go
and then we get to the ticketsthat I bought from tickets Center, and
me and the litigator dad are like, what's up? And so I go

(03:44):
over and they're like, okay, sir, and I got my number I
purchased. It goes like three hundredbucks. I bought four tickets or something
like that. And they were like, no, what do you mean.
No, yeah, they were likethese aren't you have to I was like,
well, give me my refunder letme do something. They're like,
no, you have to call there. And I called them and now they
won't call me back. Give memy money you got taken? Well,
you know, you probably put iton a credit cards. You just call

(04:06):
the card and say, ye,it's fraud. I ain't paying for this.
That's what I'm going to do.Now, That's what I'm gonna do,
man, because it is fraud, and I send it. I sent
an email to the ticket Center anda scathing email to ticket Center, and
they asked me for a review, and then I gave the saddest face on
the review available. They had ahappy face, and then the straight face,

(04:29):
and then the all the way sadface, And that's the one I
chose. If there was a therewas a raving, lunatic mad face holding
a butcher, and I I chosenthat one because I was very, very
taken by the ticket center. Theirwebsite right here says one hund money back
guarantee call him now. It's bloony, very unhappy. Could not be more
unhappy. This will not happen toyou on Friday. We promise you that

(04:55):
you will be served and you'll betreated like a god by the people that
rock and bruise in Buena Park.Matt, We're only a day away.
This time tomorrow will be swooping intoour open breathing airbrush fumes, drinking a
shot named after a kiss song, having the time of our life. Isn't

(05:16):
this great first stop of six anopportunity for you to be our first finalist,
which would then provide you with anopportunity in a one and eleven chance
of winning eleven thousand dollars. Nowthat's all fine and great, but that
money is not going to be paiduntil the end of the summer tour somewhere
around late August, which is whyinstant gratification is what makes the world go

(05:42):
around. These days, coming hometoo, chickens are coming home to roost
with instant prizes at the event.Fifty inch Westinghouse HDTV imagine dragons into the
very small and in tom iHeartRadio theater, Dodger tickets, nots Urry Farm tickets,

(06:06):
a two hundred and fifty dollars BurkeWilliams gift card, and a five
hundred dollars Dodgers Clubhouse Store gift card. All will be given away on site.
You must be in attendance to win. We're very excited about that.

(06:28):
Denied you won't be denied by theway. I'm on YELP looking at the
ticket center. Yeah, there isnot one review over one star. All
of them say buyer beware, scam. Do not purchase anything from this company.

(06:48):
Complete total scam. I got totallyscammed. I got scammed. They're
not a legitimate business. They're ascam. Don't get drunk and buy tickets.
I don't know why I bought.I don't know why how it ended
up there. I just tried tobuy the tickets from ticket Master because one
of those places that pops up whenyou put tickets into a Google it pops
up towards the top. I foundtheir way to the top. Yeah,

(07:12):
I'm at the Better Business Bureau theBBB. Yeah you can. You can
post here. They respond to allof them, and it looks as though
they're pretty snarky. What do youmean Ticket centers them snarky. Yeah,
they're snarky. Like here's one ofthe most recent ones from three weeks ago.
Purchase tickets to a show at BethelWoods. Site came up first in

(07:34):
a Google search. It is builtto trick you into thinking you're buying directly
from the venue. Yes, websiteis extremely deceptive. Yes, never stated
they're a third party seller, neverstated the terms for buying the tickets.
The link to contact them after thesale did not work. I want a
refund for the purchase, but Iknow this will not happen, as it

(07:56):
appears they are allowed to operate inthis deceptive manner. It's terrible. This
is worse than the elections, worsethan the electric bike. Thank you for
reaching out to us at ticket Center. We value our customers and we would
like to take the time to addressour customers concerns. It should be noted
the ticket Center is an online resalemarketplace, which means we do not own
or generate tickets. Instead, wefacilitate transactions between ticket buyers and tickets sellers.

(08:22):
They're liars to the people. Thetop of every event and ticket listing
page clearly states secondary market tickets pricesmay be above face value. Ticket Center
has provided a one time courtesy resolutionin the interest of customer service. As
such, we consider this matter results. So apparently they decided to refund that

(08:43):
guy from the Better Business Bureau review. So you may want to file a
complaint. How do I do it? Just go do? What about just
attacking ticket Center on the radio? It's a fair approach. Call the text
also give you my money back, ticket Center, You sons a bitches.
Now there are other ones where they'relike, no, you're not getting anything
here. Pal. Dude tried togo see the dead at the sphere and

(09:07):
they're like, pound sand, I'mvery unhappy. I've never been more unhappy.
There's a whole Reddit page with commentsabout ticket Center. Yeah you got
hose did Yeah? I got therubber hose right in the nose. You're
gonna have to call the AMEX andsay, hey, fraudulent transaction BS,
I never got my tigas. Goodcall, man, good call. That's

(09:28):
right. They're gonna be like, hey, it says here on the radio
that you did get your Now listen, here's the thing. If you didn't
use AMEX and you put it onyour diners club, I think you're in
trouble. You know, I onlyused diners Club. What other lessons did
you learn from this? Petros? What always go to my boy Barry?

(09:50):
Yeah, you're right about that.Barry usually doesn't have obscure tickets to sad
Scottish should be rock bands though,to be honest with you, guys like
Cus, but we have got ticketsto see Imagine Dragons. That's more down
Berry's ally. But the truth ishe doesn't have those tickets because they're very

(10:11):
EXCLUSIVEO and we're only giving them awayat the Buena Park Rock and Bruise tomorrow
starting at three o'clock. All right, Vic, Sorry, you've been very
patient here and we appreciate you joiningus. The headlines and we're going to
talk to Don McClain about the DanHurley stuff and JJ Reddick and all that
stuff in the NBA Finals and Lucacomplaining and everything in the very next segment.

(10:37):
But it looks like your guy JJReddick is back in the lead,
just like I was to host theLoose Cannons with Steve Hart back in two
thousand and three, I was inthe league. So what do you think
vic Archie excited about JJ Reddick comingback after he insulted Jerry West. First
off, I'm very upset over thecamera obscura will turn ticket situation and there

(11:01):
is no room in twenty twenty four, you know for these machinations of ticket
agencies and ripping people off. Thereis no room. They ripped me off
with the Internet. There's a lotof room for it, actually, Rick,
I'm that's saying damn Shane, Butthere's a lot of room for it.
There should be crystal clarity. Igot puns of the face like Buscemi

(11:22):
just walking down the street out ofnowhere. So I'm totally spot to go
with you on the ticket situation. It's it's there's no room for that.
And we've all been there. We'vebeen ripped off by you know, not
so kosher companies and I demand aprobe. I will demand a probe.

(11:50):
But you asked me. If JJReddick listen but beyond me, Lakers offer
me a deal, I'm taking it. And again he has well the Hurley's
that ship has sailed. Of course, JJ Reddick's gonna take it. If

(12:11):
he's offered. We're talking about shouldthe Lakers offer it. Our answer is
an emphatic no. Not the samedeal as Hurley. No. Obviously Fred
and Rodney say same deal, samedeal. No way, no, that's
what they said. No, hedoesn't have any experience coaching at any level.

(12:31):
He's you know, he has thepodcast with Braun. That's fine and
it's a real and bron will geta support for you know, Broun was
supporting Hurley as well. Brin was. It was texting Hurley, you have
my support if you get this gig, so you know it's it's it's Riddick's
gig. If it's offered, he'she's not going to say no. And

(12:54):
he harbors no resentment. You know, with the wooing of Hurley, he
has no leverage. Nobody else isinterviewing them. The calves on interviewing him
to be their head coach. Ofcourse he would say yes. Our question
to you is if JJ Reddick, who insulted Jerry West in the era of
in which he played, would yoube a would you support the hiring of

(13:16):
JJ Reddick by the Lakers? Aman who stoked the ire, who drew
the ire of Jerry West because ofthe way he characterized the era in which
he played, Look at him,he's crazy? Is that who you want
to be the next head coach ofthe Lakers? That guy? If I
had the power of Polinka, mymana from from heaven, my bread from

(13:37):
heaven, would obviously not be JJRedick. Okay, that's none of these.
That's what we wanted to figure out. I would go with a Barrego.
I would go with the James Barrego. Obviously, where's Bo been coaching
Hampstead Helmstan you know New Orleans. You know Anthony Davis loves Barrego. And

(13:58):
at this point too, Lebron wouldsupport any coach of the Lakers. You
know, when he has fifty milliondollars coming next year from the Lakers,
he's going to support any head coachthat Genie and and and Polinka, you
know, and and Linda Linda Goodwhoever makes the decisions now, I don't
know. You know, it's isn'ta problem to Vic. I think it's
a major problem. We don't knowwhere we don't know where the stops.

(14:22):
We don't know where the buck stops. Vic. And ever since Phil Jackson,
you know, the head coaching hasbeen a carousel, let's face it,
for spinning. I would love himto make a you know, a
wonderful sound decision, you know, for years to come. But that's that
is not the nature of the Lakershiring of head coaches. You know,

(14:43):
ever since the you know, Phil, Phil left the building. This guy
is a show. How long havewe been making excuses for these guys?
Vic? How long have you beenspinning like a crazy spinmaster, exactly like
a whirling dervish? Vic? Howlong? I'm dizzy? I'm I'm I'm
dizzy. I'm like tom was itTommy James and the shon Dills, I'm

(15:05):
dizzy, pins and needles. I'dlove for them to make the right calls.
JJ Reddick, the right call.If I had the power of Polinka,
I would not be uh be givinghim the gig. I want,
I want someone who's been there, who understands the Laker way. You know,

(15:26):
JJ Reddick's got to be smart enoughnot to buy tickets from ticket Center,
so he's got a leg up onme. I'm guessing JJ Reddick,
is he going to try to buytickets to Camera Obskira. He's probably more
likely to go see Too Short atthe at the Canyon. Well, hey,
I'm not against Too Short at thecandyon either man. I mean,
those two things don't have to letlike, is it just one or the

(15:46):
other? In live I did noticethis at the Camera Obscira show and Cools
nerds your side, my side,It's all bullsh It's just tough enough to
be yourself. Like why I waswith a musical taste of the ugliest fan
bases on Earth? Like it's trulyfreaks and geeks. At every show I

(16:07):
go to, it is the mostobese, fartingest, weirdest people. And
you're asking yourself, how did youfind It's like that's who I am.
Like this is the kind of musicI like. Like the songs come on
and I get excited. These peopleare also excited, like we are the
same. And you know, Katesgoes to a show where the people in

(16:29):
my neighborhood. Go to the showand it's all missile boobs and cowboy boots
and Dixie cups and high fives andbonfires and gun racks. And maybe the
music's not high prow, but Ithink it's a great place to get laid.
And everybody that likes all the musicthat I like, not that I'm
looking to get laid, is theylook like Velma from Scooby doo Well or

(16:52):
Fat Shaggy and the musical Roadless Traveled. I guess, you know, I
mean, I wish there was ahappy medium, you know. I mean,
there's there is. It's called EMF. Okay, you go to the
EMF show, you feel pretty good. It's gonna be a nice cross section.
You're working your job pretty hard. There is you do it, Okay.

(17:17):
I just looked around. I waslike, I mean, I was
driving out of the parking lot.I was just like, look at these
miserable people. Look at these miserablepeople that like the same music that I
like. And every showcase goes toyou can't It's like going to a missile
silo. You can't turn without runninginto a giant, gunned up missile boo

(17:37):
chick there is a reason why compromiseis typically the best path. You are
speaking to both ends of the spectrum. I don't think you want to roll
into the shows with nine thousand partybuses. Well I'm not into it.
Like, that's not the music Ilike. That's the sad part. It's
like the music I like has theweirdest and creepiest fan base. I remember

(17:57):
I went to see a band twentyyears ago and I walked into the Echo
on like a Tuesday night. There'sa guy sitting there like a G string
leader hosen. I was like, why, why it's Tuesday night? Come
on, man circled dead date onhis calendar. I am not wearing his
G string later hosting until this daywhen the Gossip comes to town, and

(18:18):
then I'm gonna wear it. Itwas a mountain goat show, Matt idiot.
The point is I was I wasnot only was I had by ticket
center, but I also, yeah, this ticket center really got I also
was reminded of the freaks and geeksnature of the music that I grabbed out
your friends. I mean, it'snot like you're mingling with a bunch of
strangers. It's a show. There'slive music, well, I brought Litigator

(18:41):
Dad and he didn't like he feltcrowded by all the freaks and geeks,
so he stood in an area wherethere was a little more space for him.
And then I brought Darren, thearchitect, you know, who's a
real music freak and loves all kindsof bands. But I mean he just
built the Rams facility. He's thelot of sports architect around. He just

(19:02):
built the Waco Baylor baseball stadium onthe brazos and all that stuff. So
he looks like, you're a finegentleman. Yeah, he looks pretty normal,
but everybody else looked like a freak. What about Adam? Adam was
there with his beard. Yeah, did you see him? Right? I
saw Katie and she walked right byme like I wasn't even there. Stop.
She wasn't wearing her glasses like Velma, so maybe she can't see it.

(19:26):
They she walked right by, Imean walk right by me. Well,
I was like holding my hand uplike hey Katie. She was,
Yeah, I got a bad recordthere. The Wilter Lobby, you know,
it can really do you dirty.A lot of people go in a
lot of different directions. It sureis. Matt you know, and I'm
just looking to be recognized and talkto people. You know, I'm just
trying to buy my sixty dollar Tshirt. Damn it. Forty what a

(19:49):
bargain Tuesday night forty bucks? Whata but uh yeah, it was actually
really fun to be there and allthat. If I didn't get had by
ticket Center anyway, they were wonderful. It's great to see the band I
hadn't seen. The last time theywere there was twelve years ago. And
I was at that show too,and they said, who was here twelve

(20:10):
years ago? And I was like, and it wasn't a missile boom in
sight? Vic, Well just pelletyou know what, it looks like boobs,
just patcake boobs everywhere. I'm goingto see bucket Heead tom night at
the wil Turn, So we'll letyou know. That's that. I thought
about that one, Matt. I'ma big buckethead guy. Bucketheads my my

(20:34):
my brother in law is I believegonna be at that time? And that
makes sense. Yeah, I'd gosee Buckethead without tool mask. Great,
you got too short tonight in theGarden Grove. I'd go see that too,
Vic. You know what, becausejust like top Dad. That's the
mini amphitheater. It's got like maybea twenty foot deep pit, maybe ten

(20:57):
rows of seats, and then areal tiny If you see a guys,
if you see a guy with purplechucks on and a Minnesota Vikings jersey on,
just get away from him. Ifyou see five or six guys like
that, just stay, just steerclear. And if somebody says something to
you, just say, I don'tbang. And then you could really enjoy
the too Short ship. Ooh,as we're going through the calendar, p

(21:18):
you can go see Patton Oswalt Monday. He's at the Hollywood Improv. What
really bothered me about Cosby was thedeception. It gets your yufs. See,
why do I have to be soadverse to parking? You know?
I was actually pleasantly surprised that theparking at the Wiltern was not that much

(21:41):
of a nightmare. I mean,Darryl Hall, Elvis Costello with the Greek
my God, what a show.Yeah, but you're gonna have to helicopter
yourself. That's what I mean.I need a jet pack. I can't
do it. Or just watch sixmiles. I got a run at the
w I'm just gonna walk up thehill, all right, Vick, Well,
thank you. I thought that thatwas a very strong opinion against JJ

(22:02):
Reddick for you well feeling you guys, And are the Celtics gonna sweep?
I'm sure you d Mac called Celticsfrom the outset. Nobody cares. No
one cares exactly. They just careabout Luca about that sixth foul? Was

(22:25):
was a ludicrous call. Well, maybe don't get idiotic fouls early. Huh,
that makes sense. This all startedwhen they took his beer. They
humiliated alien point, they took hisbeer in front of everybody and humiliated humiliated
him. Yeah, that's a grownman and he makes some hard shots.
Sure he's a defensive liability. Butlet him have a beer and take his

(22:47):
beer in front of everybody. Youmake him look like an idiot. Let
Luca drink, Let him have hisbeer, for God's sakes. There's no
bad optics there. It's the dumbestthing ever. No, it's bad optic
when you take the beer, right, I mean it's Texas, for God's
sakes. If he's got a glasstile, a rock, a blow and
he's cutting up with a race, yeah, okay, maybe take that away.

(23:10):
If he comes out of the lockerroom with all kinds of powder on
his face and he's like, wewant, I want to talk to the
media, black and maybe maybe stepin. He's working his jaw hard.
If Luca wants to drink a lonestall long neck, let him drink it.
Did you just say that in hisear? Just to me? Kates,
Kate's just set in my ear.We gotta go, Vic. We'll

(23:32):
be right back with Don McClain,Petros Money at five to seventy eight Sports
Live Everywhere on the iHeartRadio app tomorrowLive Winna Park, Rock and Bruise.
Shout out to Adam, Katie Jenna. Always a great time, massive wide
open setting, great food, greatpeople and the Petros and Money community.

(23:56):
We'll all be there together. Wecannot wait to see a ton of prices
to give away live if you arein attendance, including a fifty inch TV
from Westinghouse, five dollars Dodger ClubhouseStore gift card and many many other prizes.
And it's time mat for Don McClain. Don's oldest Kyle McLain, graduates

(24:17):
from UC Santa Barbara this week.Congratulations to him and all the mclans.
He is known as quite simply thegreatest scorer in the history of the Pac
twelve of UCLA. The next asshe kisses will be the first as a

(24:40):
statue of him in Seami Valley, his hometown at Lemon Park. He works
at CEAA. He calls college basketball. It works for the Clippers too.
It is our hero. Don McClainon the SOKW Toyota Dealer celebrity Hotline,
Hello, Don, how are you? Congrats? I'm doing good, doing
good. Thank you. I'm alittle conflicted on this whole weekend of him

(25:02):
graduating, because on one hand, you're proud of your kid for doing well
in high school, getting into UCSanta Barbara and then graduating in four years.
But I find myself feeling better aboutmyself that I don't have to write
those checks anymore. Yeah, bethankful you wrote a UC check. Don
Okay, be very thankful you wrotea UC check. Hey, you know

(25:25):
what, but you could have beenmore thankful with cal State. Maybe it's
true at cal State College I couldeven better. That's a great check,
all right, don uh. Youknow, Jerry West passed and we had
a very heartfelt interviews yesterday with JamesWorthy, who had such an unbelievable history
with him through the Lakers, andDuck or Coryan in the media, who

(25:47):
had some wonderful things to say abouthim. How did you cross pass with
Jerry West when you cross passing andwhat did you what did you find him
to be like? Well, later, I didn't really cross paths with him
much when I was playing because Inever played for the Lakers or any team
that he was working with. Butlater, when I was with the Clippers,
and I've done Clippers for so long, even when he was with other

(26:10):
organizations, I got to I methim obviously a long time ago, and
I saw him, not a lot, but I saw him, and we
talked a lot. He'd come outto our pre draft every year and we
talk a lot. And I'll tellyou this, guys, And I feel
like I know a lot about thegame, and I think I do,
but I don't know one tenth onehundredth one thousand of what Jerry West knows

(26:33):
about the game. And I'm tellingyou, every single time I talked to
him, I walked away saying,Wow, I never thought of that.
And so for me having been aroundfor so long, to have a guy
like that, because I talked tobasketball people all the time, and yeah,
there's a lot of smart guys, but no one like Jerry West.
And I think his record, hiscareer in the front office, forget him

(26:56):
being a great player, speaks foritself. But just I was always amazed
at how he saw the game andhow he saw individual players more importantly,
and what he saw in players thatno one else saw, and not so
much from a production standpoint or howgood they were, just how they moved

(27:17):
and why they were good at whatthey did and how they got the spots,
And it just always blew me away. It just how smart of a
guy he was in terms of evaluatingbasketball teams and players. Yeah, it's
I heard Michael Cooper in an interviewDon and it was it was real interesting
because he was the guy that Jerrycalled in to work out against Kobe in

(27:38):
the draft process, and it wasI love you know that you shared that
because he said something very similar, and his point was, Jerry just told
me, whatever you do, don'tlet him get to He had like five
different spots and he had told Kobe, I want to see if you can
get your shot off at these spots, and all Cooper had to do was
try to force him to not getto those spots. And so he said,

(28:02):
at the end of the workout,Kobe might have gone like one for
five, and I felt like Ihad done my job. And then I'm
talking to Jerry afterwards and he says, no, the kid figured out how
to get to the spot, andthat's what it's all about. And he
said. I walked away and went, I guess I just don't understand this.
It was. It was wild tohear, like you just said,
he saw things differently than everyone else. Well, and I'll tell you this,

(28:22):
Matt. When I first started doingpre draft work nineteen years ago,
I believe it was my second yeardoing it, he came to the workout
and it's now the first thing Isay to players, because you know,
even though I played in the leaguefor a while and I thought I knew
the game and everything, I didn'tunderstand it the way he understood it.
And he said to me after thatworkout, He's like, don when you're

(28:45):
working these players out, you haveto emphasize the biggest thing is change the
speed and change a direction. AndI stopped in my tracks and I'm like,
yeah, yeah, you're right, that is it. And so now
for the last seventeen sixteen years sincehe told me that you ask any of
the players to come through what wedo in the spring, it's literally the

(29:07):
first thing I tell him, becausehe was right. Everybody in the NBA
is a good athlete. Everybody's fast, everybody's quick, everybody's strong. And
if you play at one speed, guys can sit on that speed. Well,
if you're changing speeds and changing direction, nobody can sit on that.
And so I learned that from hima long time ago, and it's been
the biggest thing that I've taught, the biggest thing that we've talked about since

(29:33):
he told me that some sixteen seventeenyears ago. The great Don McClain always
a fabulous basketball conversation. Don.The Danny Hurley thing happened and then it
didn't happen. We talked to youabout it at the end of last week.
And maybe he was low bald.Maybe he was low bald for a
reason. Maybe he wasn't low bald, maybe he wasn't ever going to go.

(29:56):
How do you see it with theway it played out. I don't
know, Dan Hurley. I've methim one time. I've had a couple
of his players in the last fewyears, so we've talked on the phone
a couple of times. But myfeeling is, and I don't know anything
because I haven't talked to him.My feeling is, is I bet you
said to himself, I got areally good thing going. We've won two

(30:18):
national championships in a row. I'mrecruiting at a high level. We're the
best program in college basketball right now. Why would I risk that for the
unknown? And you know, theunknown is the NBA, which he's never
coached there, but it's also theLakers roster and you don't know what Lebron's
doing this summer. You don't knowhow much longer Lebron's gonna play, And
that would have been a decision forhim, like, all right, I'm

(30:41):
leaving this great thing that I haveand I'm gonna have to stick this thing
out for eight or nine years torebuild the roster when Lebron leaves, to
do what we need to do towin. And if it were me,
that's what I would have been thinking. And like, you know what,
I'm going to keep going in thiscollege game. I'm not that old and
maybe in ten years I take anotherlook at the NBA, but right now

(31:03):
it's just going way too good forme. Of the names that are that
are left on, it seems likethere's two. It's it's Some outlets are
reporting that James Barrego is the islikely the preferred candidate, and then others
are saying, no, it's it'sJJ Reddick. I don't know how well
you know James Barrego or JJ Reddickor what you could you know, maybe

(31:26):
know about the way JJ would coach. But if it is those two options,
you know your thoughts of either ofthose guys coaching Lebron James and Anthony
Davis. Yeah, I you know, I don't know much about Barrego when
he was in he was in Charlotte, right, I don't. I didn't
follow him all that much because theyweren't very good, and I don't know
JJ Reddick got covered him when hewas playing with the Clippers. I will

(31:49):
say this, listening to JJ Reddickcall games, he one thousand percent understands
the game. And I think there'sa lot of guys that understand the game.
And I'm not saying and JJ Reddickcan't do it, but It's all
about commanding the locker room, gettingrespect, getting your guys to play hard,
getting your guys to play together. And if you can do that,
you can be successful. The hardpart is for everyone in this is he's

(32:15):
never done it, so we don'tknow if he can do it. My
guess is that he can do it, but you don't know, so it's
hard to pull the trigger on that. You know, we're so consumed by
this, well, I should saywe're consumed by it, but you know,
the news is all about the coachingsearch. And we're a couple weeks
out from the draft and the Lakersare a pretty high pick. The Pelicans
opted not to take their seventeenth pickthis year. They're betting against the Lakers'

(32:37):
future. They're going to take theirpick next year. Maybe they just didn't
like the players in the draft, but this happens every year. The closer
you get to the draft, thebetter you feel about it. And as
you're starting to see some of theprospects, and one that I think makes
a ton of sense for them, just because he is ready to go immediately
and we've talked about him extensively.Been a lot of mock drafts are plugging
zach Edian to the Lakers, donI would love to know kind of your

(32:59):
thought about a seven foot five, three hundred pounder and what kind of impact
he could make immediately for that team. There's no doubt he'll have an impact
on the offensive end. Guys likethat are hard to deal with. If
you get him in the right actionsand you get them rolling to the basket.
It's kind of like Gobert and somebigs we've seen in the past,
like when you have a guy thatbig that can move, and he can
move. He's not a great mover, but he can move. That's the

(33:22):
number one line on him on yourscatting report is what are we doing with
the role the high screen roll rollto the basket? What are we doing
with that first? And that changesyour offense because now if they're collapsing on
that and they have to collapse, that opens up the perimeter. Lebron James,
we've talked in the past about howsmart he is if he's got a
guy rolling to the front of therim like that, how he can pick

(33:43):
opposing defenses apart. The hard partwith Eenie's going to be how do they
play him on defense and how arethey gonna how are teams going to attack
him? They're going to put himin ball screens and switching is such a
big part of the NBA. Nowcan he switch on to a smaller player?
I haven't seen it. Perdue playeda lot of zone with him.

(34:04):
My guess is right now he can't. And so are you willing to wait?
Are you willing to wait for himto hopefully get a little bit more
agile, a little quicker, sothat he can switch on to smaller players?
That's the question. But I thinkin a down draft, which it
is, and I'm not surprised ifPelicans didn't take the pick because this is
a down draft, it might beworth the I don't want to say it

(34:27):
a risk because of all the accomplishedin college, but there are some question
marks about Edie. But at seventeen, we're not talking about seven. We're
talking about seventeen. That might beworth the risk. The one and only
Don McClain is our guest. DonI know you've been watching the NBA Finals.
Do you wish it went differently? What are your impressions? Everybody's talking

(34:49):
so bad about Luca, like hedoesn't know how to play. Yeah,
I always just hope for a compelling, tight series that goes deep. Doesn't
look like that's going to happen, and I just think, look, I
just think that the Celtics, becausethey've been so close for the last five
years, are just more desperate.Dallas hasn't been there. And it's human
nature. Not that you're saying,oh, we got to the finals.

(35:10):
That's fine. Dallas obviously still wantsto win, but the human nature part
of it is subconscious. Just there'smore from the Celtics. They're playing with
more desperation, with more will, more toughness. They're better defensively, that's
clear, and I just think it'stheir time. But that being said,
it is clear that Luca is gonnahave to change. If he wants to
win a championship. He's going tohave to change. He's gonna have to

(35:32):
get himself in better condition so thathe can play both ends. No one
denies he's one of the I don'tknow two, three, four best offensive
players in the game. But they'reattacking them defensively and they're making them work,
and I think it's taken away fromhis offense a little bit. And
it's just Boston's roster construction was perfect. With adding Holiday Derek White emerging,

(35:57):
you already had Tatum and Brown.Like when you got four wing defenders at
that level, it is awfully hardto deal with. How much last thing
for me? Don Jason Kidd wascelebrated as a head coach, and then
he was vilified after he ditched orBrooklyn or whatever it was Jersey for a
minie for Milwaukee, and then hewas called a clown for his antics on

(36:19):
the sideline, and then he hadto rehab with the Lakers and seemed like
it wasn't going great in Dallas, and now he's in the finals. I'm
getting that is how important is heas a head coach? Because now people
are saying he's getting totally outclassed bythis thirty six year old Joe Missoula and
now he's terrible again. Well, because everyone just lives in the moment,
they forget that this is about theplayers. You know, if you got

(36:42):
the better team, which Boston does, you could be the greatest coach in
history. And he's still probably notgoing to win. I don't think anybody
suspected that it would be three tozero at this point. So that's why
everyone's jumping to conclusions. But Bostonhas the better team. And I think
what really riled people up was nofor Zingis last night. So everyone thought,
Okay, Dallas is going to winthe game, but I don't.

(37:04):
I'm not watching the game saying thisguy's getting out coach. I'm just saying
I'm watching a team that is betterconstructed, has more weapons defensively, and
the other team has two guys thathave to get thirty for them to win.
And that's a hard that's a hardask when you're talking about a seven
game series. I think Jason's kidsdone a great job getting them to the
finals that no one expected that.I know they hadded a couple guys at

(37:28):
the deadline, but no one expectedthe Mavericks to be in the finals,
let alone the conference finals. SoI'm a little surprised that people are jumping
off the beef and kid bandwagon justbecause Boston's up three to zero. The
great Don McClain, congratulations to youand Brooke and Kyle, and congratulations on
saving the inc on those checks.Don have a wonderful night in great weekend.

(37:52):
All right, guys, Thanks thereyou goes. Don still to come,

podcast, Don talking about his relationshipwith Jerry West, one of the great
front office executives of all time.As Jerry, as he said, if

(39:22):
you missed it basically set the tonefor how he would work his guys out.
Change of speed, change of direction, seventeen years ago, still does
it to this day. First thinghe does. I can't find Kates.
He disappeared, Matt. He maybe talking to somebody on the Dodger Show
there I because I am doing theshow from home today. He's out of
charge of practice. I was notsure if I couldn't hear the return.

(39:44):
I was like, I feel nobodysaid anything to me. I'd keep talking,
but no one's let me know whetheror not you're in there. So
maybe it's just on my end andI need to shut up because I'm talking
over you. No, you're fine, Matt. I was looking for Kate's
and I couldn't find him because Ithink he got swallowed up by the big
Boss. Well, no, he'sout. Our boss is gone. No,
everybody's gone, which is why Idon't know. I don't know where

(40:06):
he is. Hey blowing coke inthe off the tank. Those thick long
lines line brought to you by yoursokel Toyota dealers. We make it easy.
The bach face and the Lakers wantedHurley to walk from their low ball
deal so they can hire JJ andsay they weren't just handing the reins over

(40:29):
to Lebron. Look, we reallywanted Hurley name for shame. Yeah,
you're right, You're likely right,you think that's what happened. I mean,
they made him an offer. Hecould have said, yes, you
know, you would like to thinkthat. They know the optics are got

(40:49):
awful. They fly him out here, everybody gets excited, and then he
then you lowball him. That's abad look for you. So I don't
know if they thought he would takeit, because it was a lot more
than he was making at Yukon, and they just, you know, they
underwhelmed him and didn't realize how muchhe likes being there, and it was
gonna take a hell of a lotmore to get him to move out to
the southern California area. They gonnainterview JJ. Oh for real, anybody

(41:12):
here seeing a leprecaun say yeah, yeah, yeah. The one thing we
always say is can you win thatpress conference if you hire JJ Reddick?
No, I mean with Lebron sittingright next to him now with the whiteboard
talking about x's and o's and andpop here and watch this peel screen and

(41:37):
oh hold on, let me pourthis this Melbeck and and like this cigar
while you talk about the peel screenand the pin post. It's not gonna
be like the podcast. No,it's not. It's not gonna be like
the podcast. But uh, we'llsee, we'll see if they can win
that press conference. It looks likeit's gonna happen over the weekend. Uh.

(41:58):
This is one time I bought forthdot your tickets for me and my
friends. We got there and thetickets were no good, and I bought
the Hello Kiddy Day. I knowhow you feel, Yes, I was,
Yeah, that sucks. I boughttickets from a third party ticket broker
and was deeply embarrassed at the willturned theater. Don't ever buy tickets from
ticket center. Don't do it.It's a terrible, terrible, terrible mistake

(42:23):
that I made. I told yougot to write that review on a BBB.
It's like I took my money andflushed it right down the toilet,
right down the toilet. Oh,Matt, there's news. It's Matt barnes
Day. I mean Austin barnes Day. Where'd you go Kate's did you?

(42:46):
Did you blow a line? Yes? Petros, I blew a line?
Where'd you gouys? No? Iwas down the hall talking to Dave Wee.
Well he did curate all those greatprizes? Did he do anything else
for it? I was on thephone the airbrush guy. Were you really?
Yeah, there's a development? Whatdid the airbrush guy say? He's

(43:07):
I mean, if this was afootball analogy again, we are first in
goal from the one inside the five? What, yeah, he's not.
We haven't crossed the goal line yet. I feel like it's the things tomorrow.
I feel like we're about to punchit in right here. Well,
what's the call? Are we goingto play action? Are we going?
Are we going to try to punchit? I think we're just running it

(43:30):
heavy, heavy unit, heavy unit. Okay, yeah, but are we
gonna go off tackle with a slowdeveloping thing. Are we going to go
right into the gap? What arewe doing now? We're going right up
the middle. We're just gonna goright up the middle. All right,
Fox two run, so it's giveme fun tomorrow. What did he say?
Well, I was talking to himand David about what to put on
the T shirts. Like what people. Somebody says, I want puzzo you

(43:52):
right, an airbrush? Somebody Iwatch Great sports Talk, you write great
sports talk. Somebody wants you goback up on hell you right, you
go back up on the hill.A lot of letters right there. Rush.
It's free for him. He cando whatever he wants. Somebody wants
warriors, big, warriors big, that's right, Gloria. Somebody wants not

(44:15):
much, not much, that's right, Gloria. Right. Is it that
hard? Do I need to gotalk to him? No, we already
talked to him. We're good.Wow man, wow, freak out?
Does that? Does the girl that'son ESPN? Oh well, this is
a w NBA game. But youknow the one with the with the shaved

(44:36):
head, Matt McNutt, is thather? I think? So? Does
she have alopecias? As just howshe rolls? Oh? No, I
don't think I mcnuts got hair. There's one with no hair. But I've
announced, like Telly Savalas eyebrows, pardon my ignorance. I have not seen
her. I just know McNutt wasthe one that yelled at Stephen A.

(44:57):
I think mcnut's got like a fade. That's Christine Williamson. I believe the
bald head one, the bald headScalley Wag. I just was wondering.
I just know mcnut from the clipthat was making the rounds on the on
the internet. She made the facethat Stephen and and then he made the
face back and they were like whoa. I was like, Oh, she's
about to get a mask Kelluman rightnow. It's a unique look. By

(45:20):
the way, No, no,no, there's a real, real bald
head Scalley Wang on the Spen.I just wondered. I like, I
like her head. But anyway,Yeah, I don't have the TV on.

(45:44):

Wings are about to tip off.Yeah, we'll be right back with your
