back with us, because today isindeed another flex alert, and again we
are hopeful, hopeful that everything worksout and before we start promoting our big

(01:32):
event in a couple of days andtomorrow we'll have a full show because the
Dodgers do have an off day.It should be said that today you the
listener, and Matt and I,as radio professionals who have worked together for
almost twenty years on this every weekdayradio show, are being cheated, cheated,

(02:00):
cheated out of our specific, verytight, completely knowledgeable, deeply researched
brand of NBA Draft coverage. Now, I do not know if there's any

(02:21):
national Fox Sports Radio NBA Draft coverage, like if they're bringing in Casey Jacobson
or something to help out. Idon't know if we're going to cover it
like they do the NFL Draft andJoe Kladd or you know, I don't
know but all I know is it'sDodgers, White Sox and Matt and I.

(02:42):
Unlike last year where we were onthe coverage like a lizard on a
limb, like a tire on arim, we're not doing it. This
year. We're not doing it.We don't we don't have the oppres It
was too emotional last year. Wasit was a gut punch that took us
weeks to recover from last year.We really did feel like I Clanton,

(03:07):
like I'm the one who got cheated, you know, like that was us.
You know, we very much feltcheated last year for I believe two
very big reasons, right, ifI could put my I mean, we
have so many grievance and sometimes weforget what we were angry about, and
we forget what we were arguing aboutin the first place. But I think

(03:28):
these stung so badly, Matt likea wasp on the balls. Two things
that happened to us last year thatwe still have not recovered from. Can
you name those things? One,we were off the air top of the
hour for Dodger Baseball pre game andwe were sweating the Laker pick whether or

(03:53):
not it would come in time.Haimi Hakes out of UCLA was to be
selected while we were on the air, and neither of those things had happened
prior to us signing off. Wewere trying to race against the clock and

(04:13):
Tim Kates got an early got anearly word of who the Lakers were going
to pick. So the pick wasif I remember right, the pick wasn't
actually made. He just announced thatit was going to be Jalen Hood Schafino,
and then we signed off, andthen the Lakers made their pick,
and maybe three minutes after we signedoff the Miami he selected Heimi Hakkas.

(04:39):
Is that exactly what happened, Kate'sthat's what it was. I got a
tip from a source that said theLakers are taking Jalen Hood Schafino. You
guys mentioned it on the air,and the pick literally came in as the
outro song for the show. Thepetro said, money, that whole song's
going as the official pick was madeby the commissioner, right, and we

(05:00):
had to wade through. It waslike the It was like an unbelievable slog
claps that everybody cared two hours.None of these guys mattered, None of
it mattered. Half the guys wereforeign, it's gonna be like tonight where
you have no idea what's going on. We're doing all these stupid odd you
don't know who Resa is. No, you're doing all these stupid, awkward

(05:25):
family interviews. And here's the worstpart of the interviews. Last year,
guys, we thought you were goingto get the pick on the air based
on the time and then what pickselection about. That's why we were told
to cover the entire draft. Butas you and you guys know, the
pick is made and they don't startthe clock for another five minutes because they're
taking pictures and they're in the greenroom stupid interviews. ESPN's talking them on

(05:46):
the side stage over here, andthen they start the clock for the next
pick. It was we was confoundingand watching the time slip away out of
our hand, and we covered anorder p A Orlando Magic, Oklahoma City

(06:06):
Thunder, Toronto Raptors, New OrleansPelicans, Atlanta Hawks, and Utah Jazz
selections until we signed off. That'swhat we did over an hour of our
time. Yeah, it was,it was. It was very We are
obviously very sensitive and we feel likeartists of great sports talk and that was.

(06:30):
It was a real It was likesomebody coming and like one of those
stop oil people and just spraying orangepaint all over our art. It was
a terrible moment in Petrosen money history. And obviously we're still angry about it
today. And I don't know,Matt, if we want to go back
on and cover the draft where wedon't know, I don't know who's Sasha,
Sasha? Who is I don't youknow? I mean, I don't

(06:54):
know. I mean if it's almostlike I kind of want to do it
again, just to prove that Icould do it, know, like climbing
a mountain, but and then maybeget the Laker pick in there well and
actually and actually cover that. I'mgoing to be very close to you.
Preston is playing Saint Rock tonight fortheir Singer Songwriter sessions. She's doing two
songs right around eight ish, justafter eight. So I'm gonna be heading

(07:18):
up and having dinner at the HudsonHouse there. You want to come,
I'll buy your dinner. We cando an Instagram live and cover the draft
from a Redondo Beach eatery. Haveyou ever been to the old Hudson House,
Matt, I went there once.I did not eat. I had
a beer at another Saint Rock showwhen we were just kind of She's got

(07:38):
a sound check and then you gotlike two hours of downtime paint job.
From time to time, it's veryvery graffiti friendly. Right well, they
got like a colorful paint job rightnow. It used to be a kid
in flippers with a snorkel equipment onlaid out across the whole building. I
like that. Look well, itwas always pretty look it up. But

(08:00):
yeah, we did negotiate an Instagramlive draft coverage with some sponsors. We
went back and forth with Monster Energyand a couple of others. I thought
they were in duo. Lingo wasin for a minute, Buddy's Gummies.
It's always for twenty et, Buddies'Baby. There's a few sponsors that we
went back and forth with, butnone of those came through. Kates has

(08:22):
got double duty Dodger talk tonight withMarongo Casino Dodgers on deck and with the
getaway day for the Dodgers or thegetaway game, I should say he's got
to double up and do Dodger talktonight. So we're just not going to
cover the draft like we did before, And like I'm saying, I don't
know if I'm bitter about it thatwe're not doing it. I don't know
if the people are bitter about it. I just don't know. And we

(08:46):
don't expect Brownie James, which isthe only person anybody really cares about in
this draft, which is the saddestthing in the world about this draft.
We don't expect him to be pickedby the Lakers until tomorrow at fifty five.
I believe we will be around tocover that. So Bimbo's house,

(09:07):
Yeah, what do you mean?Bimbo had it all set up where we
were going to be sponsored by Bimboand they're Bimbo pastries and their conchas.
Oh, you guys want to dolet's do it, let's do it.
We don't have the sponsorship. I'mnot spot the case. Track it down,

(09:28):
smacking sunflower seeds whatever. When you'resmacking seeds, we're not going to
get sponsorship in three hours. Youwatch all work fast. The wheels turn
much more slowly than that. Soanyway, it's just your covering the draft
breaking news Instagram live from the HudsonHouse. We're gonna do it from one
of the picnic tables there. Iwas. I was recently across the street

(09:52):
from the Hudson House at this place, Like it's like a pizza place,
like almost like kind of a likea more modern Hey bring the kids and
have pizza and do your Little Leaguedinner thing here, you know, but
a lot of TVs. But here'swhat they do. Here's what they do,
Matt. And I'm sure you've seenthis. But in the back room
is where they have all the arcadegames and stuff for the kids, and

(10:15):
it's kind of separate from where theparents are, but there's like a big
ass TV to wherever you can seewhat's happening back in the arcade room if
your kids are like choking each otherout or something. But you don't get
the noise and the cacophony in themain dining room that you do at like
the Dave and Busters or someplace acrossthe street street from the Hudson House.

(10:39):
The large majority of parents really don'tgive a damn what's going on in that
arcade. It's like, hey, that's their world. They got to fend
for themselves. Well, you know, Matt, you're watching the TV.
My pizza, drinking, my lightbeer. If space harrier and machine falls
on your kid and he's smashed likethe wicked witch, you know, you
don't want to get somebody to getpick that thing up. But yes,
last year's I would, I wouldto quivocate our coverage of last year's NBA

(11:03):
draft as Matt and I caught ina blizzard, trudging and fighting like rooster
cockburn all the way home, onlyto die on the doorstep. You know,
the blizzard lets up and it turnsout we were only fifty feet from
the doorstep. It It was justthe ultimate failure in great sports talk and

(11:26):
will not soon be forgotten obviously,But I guess we're not doing any draft
coverage. Is anybody coming on today? Let to probably guess no, right,
Kates, Uh, yeah, nobody'scoming on. Talk about it,
you guys. Don'll be on tomorrowat three third, which is even better.
All of his players will be drafted. This guy, read Shepherd's got

(11:48):
a shot to go number one overall. Hopefully your name, that's a draft
name. There you go, goodone, right, pulled that one.
Don stold us a lot about RedShepherd. Insure somebody aside oh Isaiah Collier
from USC could go on the timefifteen. Yeah, Den bona Bon's gonna
lot right now. That Isaiah Collier, guys, is the guy that screwed

(12:09):
up Bronni's career in SC. Ifthey weren't so worried about that Isaiah Collier
character, Bronnie would have thrived. He was playing out a position. Yeah,
And I believe that Vic the Brickspewed more Bronnie propaganda in the last
show with Adam Osland filling in forFred and Rod's him. Yeah, uh

(12:35):
oh, he breathed all over it, and Vic I believe, said,
I'm hearing noise that Brownie won't beavailable at fifty five, y'all. Vick's
hearing noise. Yeah, you knowwhat that noise is. Yeah, Ronnie

(12:56):
won't be available at fifty five.Brinnie doesn't get picked at fifty five?
Yelli picked? You guys, wantto make a bet right now? He
gets picked before fifty five. Oh, he's not getting picked before fifty five.
Kates, you just smacked some sunflowerseeds in your face and started trying
to bet with us. You crazecocaine gambler. Listen to me, get

(13:18):
a hold of yourself. I'll betyou guys lunch, he doesn't get picked
at fifty five because he's already offthe board. You think that he's gonna
go at seventeen. I don't know, No, I don't know what's also
said. I'm not saying seventeen, but I think he goes somewhere before fifty
five. He will not be availablefor the Lakers at fifty five if you
believed out of your mind. I'llbet you, guys Tony's Deli lunch here

(13:39):
in Burbank done. I'll be onthe hook for it, all right,
Ben, I feel a Tickie sandwichcoming on dry now listen. If that's
the case, Kates, Matt andI, right after you do your show
are gonna uh Morongo casino Dodgers ondeck, are gonna have to wick twenty

(14:00):
five possible Laker picks, like twentyfive different three minute pieces, and you
could play and post the correct onewhen the Lakers pick the pick. We
could do a we can bust thebreak of the Dodger game. Oh I
like that. Get some sponsorship there? Oh what do you say, Matt
Well, I think we've got tostart canvassing the greater Southland area for sponsors

(14:22):
because you know what they're gonna do. They're gonna line up when they hear
about this. Oh, talk aboutthis every Saturday. You know, maybe
like an hour, hour and ahalf. Sponsors will line up. There's
no doubt about that match. Kuldn'tme. So that's the case. That's
what's going on in the city.To see you DoD. What we got
going on is so much more excitingthan a foregone conclusion of being nailed by

(14:43):
the King while staring at a ceilingfan slowly turning in a sweaty hotel room
in Glendale. Oh, just visualizedAngel Heart Johnny Favorite. The second stop

(16:37):
burgers, the pungent tomatoes, andthe pizza. Kate, well, pizza
the beer. Kate's loves the pizza. We prefer the burgers, love the
burger. I might just put aslice of pizza and a burger this year.
Just go crazy, Matt say,it's funny you say that. I
was going to ditch the bun andwrap the Burger in the pizza. Look

(17:00):
at that tough story of the daycoming up next. It's cracking. Everybody,
welcome back, and so we justwon't be defeated. Wednesday on the
Petrosen Money Show, we will notbe on for the NBA Draft. Instead,
we'll have exciting Dodger baseball action.Yes, the Dodgers taking on the

(17:23):
White Sox, same time, thirdday in a row. They do have
the day off tomorrow. David Vassiis on TV. Kates has double up
Dodger Talk, Morongo Casino, Dodgerson Deck, and the postgame show.
So give them a call later. But right now it's time for the top

(17:45):
story of the day. Story ofit. Uh, we're not covering the
draft. We have a poor historywith the NBA Draft. This year was
just terrible. Man, last yearwas a terror. I don't know anything.
I can't remember anything before because Iremember broadcasting live from the Lakers facility

(18:08):
the day of the draft their practicefait. So that's gone from my memory
because of the trauma of last year. Matt. Let's get into uh,
let's get into the weeds a littlebit here with the NBA Draft today,
Lakers picking at seventeen for the secondconsecutive season. We'll dig into that a
little bit. Revisit the disaster thatwas last year's draft. Not our production

(18:32):
or our what was required of usand asked of us, but the actual
draft itself, as it pertains tothe Lakers passing on too ready to plug
and play perfect fit players. We'vediscussed it many times. Haimi Hakez and
Brandon Pajemski both made the All RookieTeam. Lakers taking a project in Jalen
Hood Schafino expected to be developed byYou guessed it, JJ Reddick. Player

(18:53):
development. That's what our man RobPolinka said at least seventy times in the
presser. Played development, JJ Reddick. This guy who's never coached before knows
how to develop players. He's coachingnine year olds, so he knows how
to get nine year olds better. You bet your sweet ass, he's gonna
know how to get nineteen, twentyand twenty one year olds better. It
is easy for us to take shotson the pick of Jalen Hood Schafino because

(19:15):
he barely played last year, butit is important to acknowledge that a lot
of mock drafts had Hood Schaffino offthe board. By the time the Lakers
picked that most mock drafts viewed himas a top fifteen raw incredibly talented,
high ceiling, the old, tough, tremendous upside, potential measurables, but

(19:36):
needed to be developed, needed tobe developed, which is why it threw
us for a loop when the Lakerstook him on a team with thirty eight
year old Lebron James. You're welcome, is he and thirty year old Anthony
Davis? Not here to relitigate lastyear's selection, But I do think it's
interesting to keep an eye on whichto direction the Lakers are going to go

(20:00):
at seventeen Before we do that, though, Here is Rob Polinka from the
JJ Reddick Presser about the Lakers andthe hard well the soft salary cap which
has aprons, and the punitive measuresthat are taken when you cross one of
the two aprons that have been setin place. I do think in this

(20:21):
system, as I opened, someof the trades are more difficult, especially
if you have a second apron teamand a first Apron team. There's a
chance we'll be in the first Apron. The trades are less prevalent than they
used to be, so will welook for trades that help us become a
better team. Absolutely, are thosetrades? Did they have the same probability

(20:45):
that they did under the old system. No, it is a different system,
So we've got to be mindful andthoughtful around that. And I do
think, as I stated at thebeginning, part of the road to a
really really good team, and youcan look around the landscape of the league
right now with many young teams doingreally really well, is going to be
leaning hard into that player development piece, and of course is drafting the right

(21:10):
way. We've had a great trackrecord here of drafting good players and developing
them, and we're going to continueon that path as well. Uh can
I What was that last part wasthat they had a great track record of
drafted players. He's going to beleaning hard into that player development piece,
and of course part of that isis drafting the right way. We've had

(21:30):
a great track record here of draftinggood players and developing them. Saying you've
saying we've drafted well, are sayingwe found some nice players in the draft?
Is one thing to say we havea great track We have a great
track record of drafting players. Here'swho's been drafted by Rob Polinka since he

(21:52):
took over he arrived in February twentyseventeen. Tell me if this falls into
the category of rate track record ofdrafting players, I will, Matt.
You know why, because I havea great track record of evaluating NBA talent.
Lonzo Ball, Thomas Bryant, Joshhartn Oball, Lonzo Ball. Let

(22:19):
me take this one at a time, Matt, I'm an expert. Okay,
Lonzo Ball was drafted second overall, one selection ahead of Jason Tatum,
and that was Magic and and RobPolinka. Right. Pelinka hired February twenty
seventeen. Lonzo drafted June twenty seventeen, and the de Aaron Fox says that
Deeron Fox was taking a pick numberfive. Right, He's the batman to

(22:42):
Lonzo's joker, Markel Foltz, LonzoBall, Jason Tatum, and then I
think it was Dearon Fox at four. Oh, they could have had Tatum
too, Yeah, could have hadTatum at three taken right behind him.
Uh, they drafted Kyle Kuzma attwenty seven. Uh. One one or

(23:03):
two picks right behind him was DerekWhite, who just helped the Celtics to
a title. Uh. In thesecond round, they drafted Thomas Bryant,
and I think that that I thinkthey had three first rounders that you're Josh
Hart who Kuzman the Wizard's Heart onthe Knicks, Bryant I believe was on
the Nuggets, Lonzo Ball on theBulls. Uh to the next year,

(23:26):
sphe Mahollick, Maurytes, Wagnerhallick.Yeah, Wagner was the guy. Wagner
was from Michigan. Wagner was fromMichigan and was part of the Russell Westbrook
trade. And then yeah, wellaforementioned Jalen Hoods, Chaffino, Maxwell Lewis

(23:49):
more on him in a moment, and Max Christi, Max Lewis and Max
Christie. Yeah. Would you wouldyou consider that a great record of draft
track record? Yeah? Great trackrecord of drafting players. No, well,
what about Old Reeves is pretty good. I'm glad you mentioned that the

(24:11):
best player out of all of thosenames would be one we did not include,
because it's Nick Mazela who found himas an undrafted free agent, Austin
Reeves. That that would be thehe was not drafted, he was,
he was found, you're saying,Polenka said, something that was almost notch

(24:32):
a lot that they have a greattrack record of the draft, and in
real life they don't have a greattrack record of the draft. But this
way, I almost like they saidLebron didn't have anything to do with the
hiring of JJ Reddick, and theydidn't even talk to Lebron about it.
Barely, he barely just talked tohim about it. Just imagine I sit
here in front of this microphone orbehind this microphone, and I say,

(24:56):
you know, pe, I gota got a trick. I got a
great track record of the loading upthe iron and pushing some weight around on
that bench, a great track record. Man probably want to see some some
fruits of my labor, some actualresults. Like let me see what you
got there. Your arms are verydefined, Matt. You know I believe

(25:18):
you. I don't let that shotyet. I'm wondering whether or not I
can put up a single plate.Uh. That is not a track record
that would lead you an a presserto claim that you've drafted, that you
have a great track record of draftingplayers. They have not drafted. Well,
of those nine players drafted, sixare gone. They are not here.
And as he's talking about this newsystem and the aprons that are now

(25:41):
in place. He mentioned, we'relikely going to be over the first apron.
Yeah, that's because Lebron James isgoing to screw you guys out of
fifty to sixty million dollars per yearand you're now going to be over the
first apron. What is an apron? And apron is a total salary number
that you cross and there are punitivemeasures that are then put upon your team.

(26:03):
Because you spent so much money onplayers, you have a reduced mid
level exemption from thirteen million, youonly get five point two million, which
means you're not competing for the sameplayers of the teams that aren't over it.
You do not get the bi annualexception. That means you don't have
the five million bucks every other yearto spend that doesn't go on your cap
to get an extra player to helpyou with some depth. You can acquire

(26:26):
a player via sign and trade. You can't sign a buyout player who made
more than a non tax payer midlevel exemption that'd be thirteen per year,
which is what a lot of thosebuyouts are. You cannot go a single
cent over in salary matching in atrade. You can't sign a tax payer
exemption that was created in a priorseason like that is seriously prohibited, which

(26:52):
means, you know what Polinka justsaid, draft picks are really important.
Teams are they are buying second roundpicks, they are used. This is
not what it used to be.It was like the first fifteen picks,
we're okay, we feel pretty goodabout this, the lottery picks, these
guys are going to play, andthen after that it was a total crapshoot.
Nobody really cared about second round picks. They'd auction them off. I
mean, look at last year though, at pick fifty seven, Golden State

(27:17):
finds trace Jackson Davis. He playsin sixty eight games, averages seventeen minutes
per game, eight points, fiverebounds. That's the fifty seventh pick,
two picks after where the Lakers arepicking tonight. We mentioned Maxwell Lewis.
Last year, the Lakers wanted himso bad they traded number forty seven to
Indiana for number forty and they wrotea check for four point three million dollars

(27:40):
in cash. Well, how didhe do? He averaged three minutes per
game, point three points per game, and signed a four year seven point
seven million dollar deal. Now that'sdevelopment, Matt development, and that's and
that's a great point because that's that'swhat you need to do with these second
round picks. Okay, well hedidn't really do much last year, but
we believe in the player. He'sgot a great shot. We'll get him.

(28:03):
You know, it's up to JJReddick to develop them. You can
nout that the rules have changed whereyou can now sign second round draft picks.
They don't count against the cap,and you can sign them for up
to four years. So you know, Maxwell lewis making you know, under
two million bucks per year is ahell of a deal. If you really

(28:25):
like the player and you know whathis strengths are, which is as a
shooter, they just got to kindof get him right fine for two for
one point eight million bucks a year, that's great, that's a huge value.
And they were willing to pay fourpoint three million bucks for it.
So I think I illustrate that pointbecause he's already said we have to draft
well because of this first Apron thingand how prohibitive it is for trades,

(28:48):
for free agent signings, for midlevels, for exception, all of those
things go by the way, stopknock on feminism too. You know,
you don't want to just see somebodyin an apron all day like that.
Don't so Lebron BRONI at fifty five, like just the idea of whatever is
fifty fifth pick? Who cares? You know, draft the kid he's maybe

(29:11):
got potential. It keeps Lebron happy. What else are you gonna find at
fifty five? Sure, that's oneway to look at it, but second
round picks are more valuable than everagain, Trace Jackson Davis at fifty seven
was a big part and will bea big part of the Golden State Warriors
moving forward as an important rotation playeroff the bench, a big you can,
like I said, the deal thatGolden State signed him to worth their

(29:34):
worth that weight in gold. Imean a four year deal for that guy
that averaged that much and you're payinghim like one point five million a year.
And that's the thing. There's namesthat that aren't going to be familiar,
but there they are names that youcould take a swing on. Jonathan
Magbo out of San Francisco, tinylittle school. Why is he going to
go late in the second round, mid to late second round because he's a

(29:56):
six foot sixth center. But herebounds like a mother scratch. He's got
great vision. Think of a poorman's Kevin Love grabbing a board, pushing
it up court, dialing up aperfect pass. But he's six to six.
That's the kind of player you drafted. Fifty five Juan Nunez, starting
point guard on the Spanish national team, cannot shoot. Ricky Rubio, you

(30:17):
have the listener. You have DougMatt. I've Doug. I'm like,
okay, who's available at this fiftyfifth pick that they're going to pass on?
Maglo Bronnie Magbo. I heard hecould throw it. I heard he
could throw a front court pass fromNorth Beach all the way to the Tenderloin.
That's exactly right. Where can youthrow it over there? You got

(30:40):
that guy that can't shoot, butas a hell of a floor general,
and Wan Nunez, you try towork on his shot. How about this
guy, Enrique Freeman Akron Academic Scholarshippe the coach of the Zips season,
playing pickup on campus and says, why don't you try to walk up on?

(31:00):
He walks on. He was theMVP of the mech this year,
and we're asking for Enrique Freeman fromthe Men. Rik Freeman. You want
him to be picked at fifty five? He led the nation rebound. How
about how about U of A's PelLarson. The Swede shot forty three percent
on his threes, not twenty sevenpercent like Bronnie. Oh he's fiery too,

(31:22):
that Larson, right, I knowhim. He's six' five,
he's an eighty two percent free thrower, showing the stroke as in a fluke.
Fifty eight percent from the floor andPac twelve play. That's the guy
that's good. That's a guy that'sgoing to be available at fifty five.
Bronni is six foot one and hecan't shoot twenty seven percent on threes.
And a lot of times when yousee low three point or high three point

(31:45):
numbers that are, you know, kind of outliers, people say, okay,
well, what are they shoot fromthe free throw line? That's pretty
good indicator. Do they have astroke or not? Sixty eight percent?
He does not. It's a badsign. And yet everyone's like, oh,
you know, there's it's one thingwe know. It's not what's gonna
be. It's not the player that'sgoing to be selected at the first pick.
It's the player that's going to beselected fifty five. Everybody is you.

(32:08):
Every single mock draft you pull uphas got one name next to one
number, unanimously, and it's BronnieJames at fifty five. And it's frankly
an insult two. I don't know. I haven't decided yet. It just

(32:28):
sounded good. It just sounded goodto see well. I mean, everybody
has just kind of accepted it.You know, we're on all fours waiting.
It's a last year. They thoughtit was worth four point three million
dollars to trade up for a guybecause he was a hell of a three
point shooter on of pepperd Eye andsigned him to it an almost eight million
dollar deal. And now it's like, yeah, we're gonna take the guy

(32:51):
that six to one and a halfin socks, can't shoot, can't handle,
so he can't play the one. He's got to play the two.
He does not have a handle,he does not assist well, does not
collapse a defense, doesn't shoot well, not good from the free throw line,
too small to guard twos. Butyou know what, we like him
at fifty five. We really likehim there. He might not even be

(33:13):
there at fifty five what if theCeltics take him at fifty four, he
won't be there, of it,he won't be there at fifty five.
Kates is very adamant about him notbeing there at fifty five. And I'm
gonna enjoy my turkey sandwich or maybeeven a cold cut with everything on.
What is leading you to say this, Kates? Intel, No, no,
no, intel. I have noinside information, no no, no

(33:34):
inside trading here. You think you'regonna be laughing at us? I'm a
hill of cold cuts. I justgot a feeling like Charlotte, Memphis,
one of these Detroit somebody stupid.Yeah, like forty eight, forty nine,
fifty one, are just gonna belike, screw this, let's just
take them, like the Lakers can'tbe the only stupid in the NBA.
What was that wrong? Well,it was Rob Polinka just again talk about
how they developed. Why is hetrying to interrupt me? Of course,

(33:55):
part of that is drafting the rightway. We've had a great track record
here rafting good players and developing them. I guess. I mean, we
can't just have the Lakers be theonly stupid team in the NBA, right
Somebody else has gotta be dumb.I don't know, it seems like it

(34:15):
all that was me. I mean, the Lakers aren't the only one with
a terrible draft track record in thelast five years. By the way,
much like running for public office, you become the head coach of the Lakers
and people start digging around. Ohyeah, pretty interesting, what's going on
out there? You want to youwant to go ahead? Me the head
coach the Lakers. People canna startsniffing around a little bit. You should

(34:37):
have hired Morego, should hire Morego. I never said that. Don't you
ever ever make an accusation like thatabout it. We'll be ride back with

(34:57):
more great sports talk, secret textus a radio round up back first round
of the NBA Draft tonight. We'llbe off the air. We got Dodgers
b White Sox instead. Totally finewith that. Second round will be tomorrow
before we're on the Remember tomorrow,we got a full three to seven show
on Friday. Of course, Reddicksand he doesn't care what people say,

(35:22):
like you say, like we don'tI want to cover it. Totally fine
with that, you know, Idon't know, I mean, it just
it wasn't the most believable. Icertainly don't want to do it solo.
You want to meet me at HudsonHouse, do it together, do an
Instagram live. We'll talk about mydaughter has a soccer game. I think
that's probably slightly more important. Idon't know what do you make of this?

(35:44):
Matdis buzeals guy about that going numberfive? Overall? I like the
naturally cut French fries at the HudsonHouse, and they make a good gourmet
burger as well, so very muchlooking forward to it, and I would
assume they have TVs in there,so I'll at least be able to watch
the Well, nothing's right, I'mtorn. What can we all agree on

(36:07):
this? If the pick comes inand Brownie James does go in the first
round tomorrow, He's not going inthe first round. Let's just say he
does not happening. Have your phoneson because I'll be sending you a text
message to hop on an Instagram liveif he gets picked in the first thirty
picks tonight the first round my firstround, yes, and I don't because

(36:30):
who cares a sponsor gets picked inthe first round. Now the Hudson House
wants to pick up the tab. That's regardous. That's a horse of a
different color. Exactly right. Really, we really like to put the stocking
on and get our leg out intothe gutter, don't we. Though?
All right, it's we have sometexts, so those reactions brought to you

(36:54):
by your so called Toyota dealers. We make it easy. No need to
watch the draft. Guy Vic alreadybroke it down. Bronny, Bronny,
Bronny, Bronni Bronnie. Y'all,he got real loose with it today.
I hear. That's not okay.Just a guy that is, you know,
was ranked ninety eighth in this classjust a month ago before lebron had

(37:16):
a caniption fit oh Man got movedup to fifty three, fifty five,
fifty five, that's right, fiftythree according to fifty four, wasn't it.
Fifty four is where they moved themto like sell and pick ahead.
It just hit me they're saying developmentto get ahead of the backlash of drafting
bing Bong James Junior oh Man,this sucks. Giraft nuts sound like a

(37:42):
friend of ours. We're gonna haveto cover this, you know what that's
gonna be like these days? Heypee, the Lakers aren't the only dopers
on the block. You're right, there's other teams out there that are stupid,
Matt. Are there? Yes?Yes, aren't there? Aren't there?

(38:14):
In terms of drafting Brownie James,I don't think so. Oh my
god, Read Shepherd just got offthe bus and he legitimately looks like an
eighth grader. Well, we're old, so the older we get, the
younger these people are gonna look.Fair point. But yes, you're right,

(38:35):
he's quite new. Bile tiny. He's got a green suit with a
brown tie. I'll take Kate's fora twenty dollars bet. Brownie will be
available at fifty five. This isMike from Phoenix. You take my action.
No, this isn't the Dan Patrickshow. You can call him and
ask Fritzy to do a pie tothe face at another time. No,

(38:58):
no, no, I'm not takingit back to the face. You're ting,
am I doing this stuff? Well? It the best with you guys,
not the house have pie? Ilike pie. It especially a nice
key line. But you're you're youwant to change it to a pie bet?
You want to do a bet?No, no, we want the
sandwich. Okay, No, thebest just with you guys. If Ronnie
wants in on this. You couldjump in, but you you still are.

(39:21):
You're not taking any outside action outsidesandwich bet with the show. Just
show either I buy sandwiches or youbuy sandwich copy that that's the deal.
And by the way, the thelast Brownie's available at fifty five yep,
and Kate says he will not becorrect, He'll be long gone. What
is long gone? Long gone? The Vegas sports books have moved their odds

(39:43):
on Brownie to the Lakers to heI believe it is now the the most
favorable odds of any pick going toany particular number minus one. You got
about one hundred and twenty bucks towin one hundred dollars. It is the
only minus pick of a player toa team in the draft right now.

(40:06):
That is how certain Vegas is thatBronni is going to the Lakers. Well,
Jonathan Givoni says, Bronni has legitimizedhimself as a real NBA prospect.
So with that beating though, whatthat means, I think he's gonna be
long gone. He'll be wearing aSpurs or Grizzlies or Jazz or somewhere.
We're the real boys. This isthe same Gavoni guy that had him at

(40:29):
ninety eight and Lebron freaked out,and then he moved him up to fifty
four. Right, what have yousay, Lebron? I move him up.
Yeah, he's a hey Pete.I listened to the entire show last
year. The suspense and drama wereonly outdone by the Petrosen money show,
cynical, irreverent cow bell humor.I want more, You're not gonna get

(40:49):
it. No sponsorship has been secured. The draft is ass, and he
did ass. In all apps,it means nothing nothing. Also in all
caps except for the first two picks. Anyway, I'd love to see you
never pay it any attention. Well, we're not really well, I guess

(41:14):
we are. We have a sandwichbet we're paying more attention to the second
round than the first. This islike a two day event of comp complaining
on the petro somebody show. AmI wrong to say? Not at all?
You know best? We recognize ourstrengths and we played them. Yes,
you guys know Browny's in New York, right, I don't know if

(41:35):
you guys have mentioned that. Ifyou did, I apologize why he is
in New York? Has he gotsome kind of underwear bottling gig or something
he's doing. He's not there tosee cats on Broadway either. He's there
for the draft. Is he gonnaget drafted out of the crowd like the
lady on a king? No,remember the big boobed mama. Oh that
was Greek dude, the Greek guy. Yeah, Man, I always get

(41:55):
his name wrong because I always wantto say it's scortzy and needs. But
it wasn't him. It was everytime you guys bring this guy up,
nobody can remember. It's the samestory. I believe his name was Logo
Mavro Yorgos. I don't remember hisname. Oh it was Sorz, It
wasn't. It wasn't Socrates Schortzeres.That guy's a black guy. This dye

(42:20):
was white. Baby Shack. Itwas not baby Shack. The Clippers took
baby Shack a long time before wewere ever on the air together. Listening
to yesterday, right, you're right, you're right. I bet for some
reason, his mom was in thisGoogle search listening to yesterday's two ed mono
with Vic and the echo is outof control. I thought you fools got

(42:45):
this ass figured out what the appis going on. Uh, I was
gonna step in yesterday, and thenfor some reason I thought, Nah,
I don't know. I don't knowwhy I stopped myself from getting on Vic's
echo yesterday. But you're right,he's taken liberties, and he took a

(43:05):
lot of liberties in the last hourwhere we weren't on the road. We're
still in the Rogan and Rodney's ownhere. But I don't know if you
noticed that, Matt, But somebody'sgot a real Vic back in. Yeah,
that's a fair point. It's afair point, and you're usually very
good about that. This is alsoabout Vic. He's doing Bronnie James again.
Pe, don't let this vagabond Victhe brick lie to you? Will

(43:29):
he last to fifty five? Whatis he trying to say? Because the
Lakers only have one other pick sm f H. Well, Kate seems
to think, like Vic, thatsomebody else is gonna snatch up Bronni,

(43:50):
like Cleveland or something. Well, unlike Vic, I don't think he's going
seventeen or is he going in thefirst round. But I do think somebody
in the forties, maybe fifty,is gonna grab him. Here's a pretty
good text I'm out of here inVegas. P and the odds of Lesbiat's
face drafted BROWNI it's one hundred name. See. Big speaks for one half,

(44:19):
we speak for the other. Wecan all get what we want.
All right, you're ready, Pe, you'll, you'll, you'll recognize these
names. You tell me which guyit was. Since we have been on
the air, the following Greeks havebeen drafted. Costa Kufos, Nick Calathas

(44:39):
it might have been, or Calithosor whatever he has Costas, Papa Nicolau,
Papa Nicolau. It was Giorgios,Papa Gianni's Papa Yannis. Yes,
that's who it was. I thinkit was yours, Papa Yannis. I
think let's see Jorgos Papa. Itwas a guy who went to Sacramento.

(45:05):
Wasn't it good he went to Sacramento. Yeah, the Sacramento king selected Yorgos,
Papa Yannis. What year? Oh? Here it is, here it
is, I got it, twentysixteen. I'm pulling up the video right
now. Let me see if theycut to the to the crowd. They're
making me watch the entire fifth Ifeel like Tim Kates right now. Hey,

(45:27):
just buy it right, I'm notlogged in. I'm not logged in.
I clicked on a link. Justbuy it. You know what they
say in Greece, matt better ingredients, better pizza. Papa Yanni's Oh god,
there he is, hugs a Greekflag, but oh yeah, there's
his mom. Oh bazooms, youknow what they call melons and Greek corpozy.

(46:00):
We're such idiots, That's all wecare about is some obscure players,
Greeks, moms, boobs, crazything. Nobody covers the NBA drapped like
us. Damn it. You knowwhat comes out of those things, goat's
milk, feta cheese only when it'shot. God word number song coming up there
