Welcome three hours a great sports dotto the Petros and Money Show on air
at AM five seventy LA Sports withthe ability to really go anywhere and do
anything, streaming everywhere with the iHeartRadioapp. Hosted by Bad Money Smish,
check out the Fit and Petros Papadakas. That's what we like to hear here.

(00:21):
They are on your home of theLa Dodgers in Think and down the
grain, Petros and Money tros inMoney, Ros in Money. It's always
the guy who isn't rowing that hastime to rock the boat, Ain't that
right? Man? Go hang itout, big Petrose hand Money AM five
to seventy LA Sports Live everywhere onthe iHeartRadio app. It is the shortest

(00:46):
of shows today. Not only isit a superflex, but it is a
superflex waller that runs from one untiltwo pm. Yes, Rogan and Rodney
typically your twelve to three lotted showdoing noon to one just hopped off the
air. Tim Kates and I asP is still in Las Vegas, probably

(01:07):
still reeling and recovering from what wasa raucous dinner with the pack two Oregon
State, Washington State least, Imean, look left, there's Washington State.
Look right, there's Oregon State dinnersover. Let's go. Look straight
ahead, there's ten empty chairs.Oh, we are going because the Dodgers
are still in Philadelphi and they're gettingout of town today heading to Detroit tomorrow.

(01:30):
It's an early start, so insteadof the four o'clock start, first
eight been weird, three different starttimes, Yeah, it has been.
There's been a three thirty, there'sbeen a four, and today we've got
a three. So first pitch three, five pm, live from the Gallpin
Motors Broadcast booth, Dodgers on deckat two and then heading out to Detroit.
Might as well just kind of mentionthis here as I was kind of

(01:51):
digging around Tim and you've got LandingNek on the mound today going up against
Aaron Nola, one of their youknow, between he and Zach Wheeley,
you got twos on the Phillies whowere sighted as the probably the odds on
favorite. I think Vegas would probablyhave them as the favorite to win the
National League right now. Yep.After that, when you when you go
to the log the schedule starting pitchertomorrow, Oh, I know this,

(02:15):
I know this, I know this, I know this I mean, I
do the pregame show. Who doyou got? You know what? I
don't have it? Actually, TVD, there you go, TVD, Well,
I got a blank, I gotI got a blank on a screen?
Yeah? Now starting pitcher on Saturday. That one is slotted for a

(02:37):
ten ten am start on the MLBnetwork. I don't here in town.
I don't know who would start.Who's left? You got our man?
Paxton? Oh jacks back to thebig maple on the mound, big maple.
Gosh, well like he just pitched. Now Sunday, Oh, yes,
here we go Sun, final gamebefore the All Star Break. Currently

(02:58):
riding the three game losing streak, losers in six of their last nine.
Knack against Nola tonight, Oh,TVD tomorrow, Paxton on Saturday? And
who are you gonna lean on?Man? Nyoshinobu Imas and no, I
have no idea TBD exactly right. That is that is how the Dodgers will

(03:23):
hit the All Star break. Idon't remember a time it was the Dodgers
have run out of this much startingpitching. Ever it is. It is
a bit odd you spend four hundredand twenty five or four hundred and fifty
five million dollars on two starters inthe off season, and Tyler Glassnow and
Yoshi Yamamoto neither of them available.Bobby Miller coming off a hell of a

(03:44):
rookie campaign, he goes unavailable. And here we are with LANDONNAK and getting
to start TVD tomorrow, TVD Sunday. James Paxton on Saturday now Dave called
it, said, win one ofthree against Philly and when it two to
three against Detroit, if not sweepthem, this should yes, And that
is that is your path to asuccessful close to the first half of the

(04:06):
season prior to the All Star I'mlooking. I'm looking at our baseball card
wall here in the am FI seventystudios that we got on the entry side.
You mentioned Yamamoto and Glasnam. Thatgoes along with Immitt Shean, who
he has done for the year.Right, Tony Gonsolin, you remember him,
the cat Man. He's out forthe year. Walker Bueller's in Florida
working with some other guy to tryto figure out his mechanical problems. Walker

(04:30):
Buehller. We mentioned just now,Clayton Kershaw, Dustin May, Michael Grove
all on the injured list, guyswho could be starting for this Dodgers team
right now. Technically Kyle Hurt couldbe a starter even now they're using him
in the bullpen, but he wasa starter throughout his wildly successful career in
the Martin Miners. So he's backto Triple A trying to build up because
they're trying to get him back tobeing the starter. And you got River

(04:53):
Ryan, who Dave Roberts acknowledged yesterdayin his in his presser that yeah,
that's probably a guy you're going tosee dudes that we've been complaining about.
Hey, these guys are all twentyfive. Let's get him up and figure
it out, or ship him outand bring someone in for him, as
Davis said, they can help himeither way. I actually playing or being

(05:14):
sent down in a package. AndI saw that weird. I'm sure you
probably saw it. And I don'tknow if it was just a fly by
night operation or if it was alegitimate rumor that there was a legitimate source
behind the rumor. But the ideathat you would trade Walker Buehler for Kenley
Jansen, that that's ooh, that'sintriguing, that that's something they'd be kicking
around when thinking that three years ago, Walker Buehler was cited as one of

(05:36):
the five best pitchers in baseball.Well in the future ace of the of
the Dodger staff, both on thefinal years of their contracts Kelly Jansen,
you can make a case is havingan all star season, but they're going
to They're going young in Boston. They don't want him in that remaining you
know, four million dollars on hiscontract. Walker Bueler, final year of
his contract. Certainly he is notthe Walker Bueller of the last three years.

(05:59):
I I could make a case forthat. Why not, Matt.
I mean, the salaries probably wouldhave to match Jummy. Doesn't even matter
in baseball the salaries. So yeah, I can see that trade Walker Bueler
for the remaining of the season.See if he could, you know,
catch lightning in a bottle in Bostonfor the remaining of the year. Or
Yeah. They are in the wildcard hunt, which is kind of weird.
You know, well, everybody's inthe wildcard hunt. Well, I
think they're the third team right now, aren't they. I think they are

(06:20):
currently sitting as the third team.Let me check just to make sure,
but I'm pretty sure that they aretechnically, yeah, they're in the postseason
right now as it stands, withlike you said, an All Star closer.
They are two games back of theof the Minnesota Twins for the second
spot, in just four and ahalf back of the Yankees for the number

(06:40):
one wildcard spot. Yeah, KansasCity, Houston, Tampa Hall kind of
behind them. I think everybody elseis gonna start becoming sellers, including the
Rangers and Tigers match. So you'regonna start seeing this market open up.
Well, look, you're gonna openYou're you're gonna run through a lot of
this in Dodgers on deck in lessthan an hour. So I don't mean
to steal a lot of your thunder, that's all right, but you know
it, just you got Tim Kateshere with us for the next hour.

(07:00):
Why not lean into that to getstarted? A reminder, most importantly,
a week from tomorrow, Friday,July nineteenth, Rock and Bruce el Segundo.
It is all coming together. Wenow have two, not one,
but two on side in person guests. Confirm you make your way out to
the Los Angeles city area, theSouth Bay plus the West Side plus the

(07:23):
lax el Segundo whatever you want tocall it. It is the Greater LA
area, and we've got both coachMusselman, new head coach for USC basketball,
coming down to join us and hoppingover. I'm going to be headed
there in just a minute. Asa matter of fact, from the Bolt
just opened up today to all ofthe players, actually yesterday, I believe
it opened up to all of theplayers today, to the folks in the

(07:46):
media this weekend, to fans goingto be able to go get a look
at it. So walking over fromthe Bolt, maybe not walking, but
taking a quick two minute car ride, will be Brennan Rice, also of
USC and now the rookie I'm thecharger seventh round picks, son of Jerry
Rice and a guy that caught thirteentouchdowns last year. Going to be checking
it. You know. I talkedto Eric Musselman. He's excited about coming
over to the show next Friday. But equally exciting is Mick Cronin. Matt

(08:11):
and I know it's on Monday summertour, but Mick can't make it next
Friday, so he wants to comein studio on Monday. So that's gonna
be a lot of fun. Heaven. Mick, UCLA head basketball coach come
in studio. I think he wantedto leg up on Muscleman well quickly establishing
himself as best friend of the showmaterial. Nick Cronin willing to make his
way over the hill into Burbank drivingthat glorious American musclecar convertible to his to

(08:35):
make his way into our studios andspend like an hour with us. It's
been a great offseason for UCLA basketball. Obviously, you want to compete with
the other blue bloods in the sport. You got to have yourself some nil
money, and he got UCLA folkswere able to heed mixed request, put
together a ton of transfers. Ithink what a couple from Oregon State,
one from Louisville, I can't remember. I think he got one from South

(08:58):
Dakota State, like the top sortof you know, smaller school transfer that
was available. So well done,Mick, very much. Looking forward.
What hour is that case's turn? How of the show? You wanted to
come in right after the weekend flipflop. Mccronin is always a good mcronin.
There you go, three o'clock Mickcronnin Monday, a week from tomorrow.

The word of the day. Today'sword of the day is T and
F. T and F. You'rewondering, what in the heck is TNA?
You know what TNA is, right, Yeah, TD's and foot.
I'm in defeat too, man.I like a nice small foot, you
know, just play with that andthen go up to the teats there.
You know, that's kind of thingI'm into. There are some people that

(11:33):
are into that, which I'm intoa different TNF and so is Lebron James,
the two time gold medalists already inbasketball two thousand and eight twenty twelve,
vine for his third here with TeamUSA. Later on this month in
Paris. Lebron sat down with TheToday Show in Vegas before yesterday's game against
Canada. It was aired this morning, and he was asked about his family

(11:54):
Browny playing for the Olympics. Whatelse do you have to achieve in your
career thirty nine to keep playing? And then he was kind of asked a
fun question, besides basketball, isthere another Olympic sport that you like to
participate in and think you could dowell in? And he said, oh
yeah. He said he could participatein track and field, and in particular,

(12:16):
Matt he said, the four byone hundred relay. He wants to
be the anchor and go across thefinish line. He is an incredible athlete,
arguably the most exceptional athlete the NBAhas ever seen. He does not
have Olympic level four by one hundredspeed. I mean he can get up
and down the court for forty eightminutes, but for one hundred meters one

(12:39):
time around the track, right, that's what That's what it is. Well,
it's a one hundred, right,it's the four by one hundred.
He's not running the four hundred. He's running the one hundred I believe,
is that right? Four by onehundred? Yeah, So he's who week
Yeah that whatever. By the way, you know, I'm more interested in
who is able to break out ofthat that Henhouse, New York and sit

(13:01):
down in Vegas with him? Aninterview was a Carson Daily that got the
assignment. No, I think hedrew the short Straw. No, it
was somebody else. I don't knowwho. Wasn't Lester Holt. I know
that because we would have heard aboutit on our call today with Dawn.
But wasn't that Carson Dale either norwas a guy or Gal was a guy?
Interesting? Have no idea what thatcould be. I can look it
up real quick. He why not? He was on the Today Show with

(13:30):
Craig Melvin. Wow, I'm sohappy we tracked that one down an exclusive
sit down that airs today on Game. Shame on me for asking the question,
but hey, good luck to him. Yeah, four by one hundred.
Good luck Lebron. Yeah. Iwouldn't hold the past him to try
to take somebody's spot right now,Look that I had to take a shot

(13:54):
exactly all right. You got thenumber, Matt, He's the number of
the day. Your number the dayis ten percent. Now, it won't
make headlines like Davante Adams telling theChargers social media team to keep my name
out your mouth. It's a lightheartedtweet, DeVante, don't be a snufflake.
Just get out for it. Butthat trends, right, that ends

(14:16):
up being a huge trending topic yesterdayon all social media. Everybody picks it
up, everybody runs with it.Ka Adams gets a whole bunch of run
out of that thing on her show. That doesn't really get a whole lot
of attention otherwise. But that's overDavante's comments all over that. Wow,
hey Chargers, keep my name out, keep my name out your mouth.

(14:37):
That's that's kind of what people payattention to. Yet this doesn't. And
it is a much much, much, much bigger deal that could level the
playing field considerably because the league.Look the league. Everybody that is an
owner of an NFL team is rich. There are some that are incredibly wealthy,
beyond rich, right, and thenthere's a few that can lose like

(15:00):
fifty percent of their net worth andstill have more money than ninety five percent
of the other owners in the NFL. And when it comes to operating the
team, that makes a big difference. When you've got that kind of wealth
and you can convert salary to signingbonus to help ease a cap hit and
keep your team together and feel themore competitive team. It is the most

(15:20):
valuable tool used by a front officein a hard capped we want as much
parody as possible. League. Theproblem is when you do that, and
I know this is a lot ofthe behind the scenes mechanics and there's math
and all that, but when youdo that, you have to write the
check immediately to cover that signing bonusconverted from salary transaction instead of paying it

(15:41):
out week by week. You know, in eighteen seventeen weeks for your seventeen
games, you have to pay thesigning bonus the second the ink drives on
that contract. And you do thatwith multiple players. To try to keep
a competitive team together, you mayhave to hit up your billionaire ATM for
sixty to eighty million dollars in oneday. Wow. And not every owner

(16:02):
can do that. They are assetrich. They could sell their team for
a couple or a few billion dollars, but it doesn't mean they have a
couple, I don't know, twohundred million bucks laying around to throw around
every couple of years until now.As here is Roger Goodell speaking of Big
time shows on CNBC this morning fromSundance, discussing something that they may actually

(16:26):
change moving forward in the league. We've had a tremendous amount of interest and
we believe that this could make sensefor us in a limited fashion. Probably
no more than ten percent of ateam, but that would be something that
we think could compliment our ownership andsupport our ownership policies. So we think
we're moving in a very positive directionand hopefully I'll have something by the end

(16:49):
of the year. No more thanten percent. Other leagues have kept ownership
at thirty percent. We're not otherleagues, Julia. So I think we're
going to do this right for theNational Football League, and we feel it.
We like our ownership policies. Wethink this is a compliment, but
this is also something that's the initialcap. Could we raise it at some
point in time. Of course,we're not other leagues, Julia, Yeah,

(17:11):
pretty great. Why why does hefeel like private equity because they wants
they don't want private equity to haveany say whatsoever and how a team is
run, stripping assets, selling itoff, all that sort of stuff.
So they are simply saying, allright, private equity, you want a
piece of this. They have beenbarred from ownership. But just think the
Commanders just sold for six billion dollars. I have no idea what Bezos is

(17:33):
going to pay for the Seahawks, but eventually that's the team he's going to
buy. So with the league kickingaround the idea of letting private equity,
private equity take up to ten percent. You know, when you're talking about
teams like the Bears, the Giants, Steelers, the Chargers, your family
owned. This is a team thathas been in the business for generations and

(17:55):
that's where your wealth comes from.Yes, your family is worth over a
billion dollars, but a lot ofthat is team equity. So's just right,
like a financial shot in the arm. Yeah, I mean, if
your valuation is for it, let'sjust say it's four billion dollars, right,
two thirds of what the Washington Commandersjust sold for. You're talking about
ten percents four hundred million bucks incash that the PE gives you. Now

(18:18):
you've got four hundred million dollars incash to play with. I think the
big question then is why why wouldprivate equity do it? What do they
get out of it? Well, just five years ago you're probably talking about
thirty to forty percent less for thatstake. So that's why it is.
It is one of the most quicklyappreciating assets that you can find anywhere,

(18:38):
these NFL franchises. So they saidthey want to make a decision by the
end of the year, and ifin fact they say yes, I would
not be the least bit surprised tosee teams line up to get their hands
on that ten percent as quickly asthey possibly can. In case it does
dry up. With thirty two teamsout there, you're going to probably have

(18:59):
twenty eight of them looking to gettheir hands on anywhere from two hundred to
six hundred million bucks in cash thatthey can play around. Well, you
say private equity, does that meanforeign private equity too, or what you
mean, like the Saudi Blood Fundoutside of the United States that want in?
That is a great question. Katedid not think about that. I

(19:19):
can't imagine they'd let them in.That's opening a door they don't want.
Never know, I mean, becauseyou have no say it's ten percent,
so there's there's you have zero. You are such a small minority owner that
you really you don't control anything onthe board or you know. So that's
that's a great question, though Idon't know. If the Saudi Fund wanted
to come in and buy ten percentof the packers, Holy hell, that'd

(19:41):
be a great, great, greatmoment as an owner of the packers.
I would welcome that. I thinkthat she would. Right. I'll take
a shot in the arm there financiallyfor us. So, uh, Tim,
you put together some quick hits, yeah for the next segment, and
then and a big story in basketballby the way that may change the way
or may not, because there's alittle little nugget in the agreements that could

(20:02):
still see things stay the same asmuch as they change. But we will
get to the quick hits. Andthen we got your dad, the lab
guy, birthday to day in ourquick one hour Petros and Money Show with
Tim Kates, Friday, three tosix. Mark your calendars, set your
schedules, get a half day atwork. July nineteenth, Rock and Bruis
El Segundo on site, prizes,on site guests, El Segundo Maine and

(20:26):
Franklin is our corner a Skenot Day, Maine. E Franklin is where we
Yeah, So come see us.Eric Musselman in person, Brennan Rice in
person. One week not tomorrow, one week from Friday. All right,
man, let's get to the quickhits. Come to them quick hits.
Come make it quick, y'all.Yeah. Brought to you by San Antonio

(20:52):
Winery, Los Angeles. You heardBill Plashkey yesterday singing its praises, I
too can put the stamp of approvedon San Antonio Winery. A great place
to check out sip saver, celebratewith your friends and family today. Great
food, great wine, great atmosphere. It is the San Antonio Winery,
Los Angeles. And no surprise, when Tim Kates puts together the quick hits,

(21:14):
you start with soccer. Oh yeah, I have to start with soccer,
Matt Euro twenty twenty four. Spainwill face England in Germany on Sunday
in the championship game. Spain isalready in early favorite, so we'll have
an exciting game on Sunday over inEurope. And also Copoa America. Argentina
will take on Colombia in the championshipgame of Copa America on Sunday in Miami.

(21:36):
Argentina is a slight favorite. Howabout after the game yesterday Uruguay and
Colombia. You had the fans gettinginto it in the stands. The family
section was getting heckled by Uruguay andthen they started going at it with fans.
It was intense. Yeah, Isaw that A couple of the guys
from Uruguay hopped into the stands andwe're fighting off a couple of the Colombian

(21:57):
fans and they're taunting their fans.Yeah, bad scene. And you know
their explanation afterward was, you know, we got newborns and toddlers and kids
and you got a bunch of drunksthat are acting the fool, So bad
scene. To end up, itshould be a great final Argentina Columbia Sunday,
that'll be in Miami. You mentionedthe Euro very exciting. You cannot

(22:19):
ask for anything better or bigger forthe Sunday Championship as well with Spain and
England. But the biggest news ofcourse was Berhalter getting booted yesterday and where
the US national team will turn. They took a big swing, tim,
but they swung and missed. Yeah, they went after Liverpool former Liverpool manager
Jurgen Klopp, who said thanks, but no thanks. I'm gonna stay retired.

(22:41):
I have no desire to be involvedwith that mess that is US men's
soccer. Yeah, pretty much. It's going to be tough to find someone.
I think I know they're talking aboutmaybe taking on some of clops lieutenant's
assistants. Some people from the MLShave been mentioned, but that would have
been the big one. Landing landinghim would have been kind of the huge

(23:03):
splash that they are not going toget because there is no one else out
there that could possibly make waves likehis hiring way. Why would he want
to take the job just to befired as soon as they lose Agang No,
I think that's the that's the ideais who can you find and kick
him in the ass? All thistalent and that's what I saw. Get
a dude that does not give arip right and will beat him up to
the NBA. Kind of nice tosee that There were only a couple offensive

(23:26):
bits on social media surrounding the Lakersgame. That again, ESPN continues to
humiliate themselves with Bronnie James clips pointingout like the muscle emoji you know,
check out I'm flexed out by itsaid, like strong defense from Bronni in
the California Classic, and he lookslike a guy that's you know, six

(23:48):
inches too short exactly and forty poundstoo light to be on the court and
is just driving his ass into thewaist of a guy to get him off
bad Ellen's I don't know what they'redoing. I really don't know what because
ESPN has done this repeatedly. They'relike Brownie with the shaken, big devastating

(24:10):
offensive move that gets a bucket inhis first game and it was really nothing
special. It was yesterday with RonnieJames splits defenders and sinks the layup.
Yeah, and it wasn't It wasjust like an open lane that connect found
him on the pass and it's justweird. I don't know what. Again,
if you go through the comments ontheir posts, most of the people
are saying, like this is ajoke, right, Like you're are you

(24:33):
trolling him? Like if you are, that's mean. Just just you know,
it's especially this last one they didwhere it you appreciate and you applaud
the effort, but it looks ridiculous. It's like, I don't I don't
think I ever see anything that lookslike that in an MBA cort. His
defenders, though, will point outhis plus minus rating yesterday was a plus
eighty. What he did yesterday fiveboards, three assists, three blocks and

(24:57):
two steals and a plus Hey,come on, well may he continue to
build on it tomorrow? Is ittomorrow in Vegas or today in Vegas they
go they get a day off, right, Yeah, tomorrow and Vegas they'll
start that leg of the Summer Leagueagainst the Clippers. Yeah, we'll start
their Summer League play tomorrow as well. The big one though, is off
the court, tim and all theTV deals. NBC, ESPN, Abc,

(25:19):
and Amazon have officially finalized their dealswith the NBA for new TV deals.
Good luck finding the games though duringthe regular season when it begins in
twenty five twenty six, because everynight they'll be on different platforms or different
channels. Yeah, the national gamesof course, you know where to find
the Laker games with Geeter. Youknow where to find the Clipper games with

(25:40):
Don McLain and Bally's. But SundayNational you'll get NBC or ESPN. One
of the two Mondays it'll be streamingonly Peacock. Tuesdays will be NBC,
Wednesdays will be ESPN, Thursday streamingonly Amazon, Friday's either Amazon or ESPN,
and then Saturday either ABC or AmazonPrime. The one interesting wrinkle though

(26:02):
that I was not aware of andis still I don't know how many days
they have, but TNT can matchreally any of the deals, they can
match the NBC, well not theESPN. They can match the NBC,
or they can match the Amazon dealif they so choose, and if they
match it, it's theirs. Now, the reports are that they're not going

(26:22):
to, but it's possible that theymay. You know, with all of
this stuff that a lot of thefinancial channels have been projecting of how basically
the end of TNT is what they'reprojecting if they don't do this deal.
So we'll see ultimately what decision theycome to. But as it stands right
now, it's just going to bethose three ESPN, Amazon and NBC.

(26:44):
So but yeah, TNT still hasa chance to stay in the mix.
I just realized yesterday, was pointedout to me by my wife that we
still have Peacock as an online subscribingplatform. You forgot to cancel it,
forgot to cancel it after what theChiefs game, Chiefs Dolphins game in the
playoffs. They're still paying and that'swhat they bank on is you've got seven
days to cancel, and you know, if you don't, then that's and

(27:07):
then you forget about it. Yeah, and we all have that right.
It's kind of like how the thefolks over it at Rocket Money or pitching
their product, like, hey,we're going to let you know all the
subscriptions you have, and you're goingto be floored that you're paying because we
have it too. Look how stupiddad is You've got all these subscriptions Exactly.
It's like, oh, yeah, what am I? What is this
called? We work? And this? No? But eleven dollars a month?
What is I'm still paying for MaxPreps? And I feel bad canceling

(27:32):
because I like them, you know, and I appreciated them watching Peyton's lacrosse
games. She's already graduated college.Yeah, you don't need I still pay
two ninety nine a month for Max. She that's so bad and I and
and I feel bad because when Iemail and I'm like, hey, I
can't get into my account and they'rejust like uh and and you know,
it's the one person that you thatI would always deal with, and they're

(27:55):
like, oh yeah, well what'sgoing on? I'm like nothing. Can't
even them their three bucks, whichI still do. But again, that's
been she has graduated college over ayear ago. She graduated college in twenty
twenty three. I still pay twoninety nine a month for the max preps
that I used when she played lacrosseat modern day. I mean, that's
thirty six dollars a year, rightthere, man, exactly to the baseball

(28:15):
We mentioned this at the start.Dodgers have lost three in a row.
They wrap up in Philly three o'clockstart landon NAK. The Padres have lost
four in a row, so stillseven and a half games of a lead
and on the road with the Dodgers. Is brought to you by Valvelen Instant
oil Change visit sokeloil change dot com. And also, as we mentioned at

(28:36):
the top of the show, Tim, we have no idea who's starting the
game tomorrow or who is starting thefinal game before the All Star break.
Those are still left blank. ButRiver Ryan is one of the names that
has been kicked around, or theymay just be bullpening. I just looked
up River Ryan and he pitched yesterdayfive pitching, so he is done before
the All Star break at the majorleague level. He will not help the
Dodgers this weekend bullpen game. Iwould assume tomorrow and then bring up somebody,

(29:02):
I mean maybe Justin Robleski. Yeah, awesome, Shoor Sanders has gotten
the attention to the Big twelve schools. He is at Big twelve Media Day,
said the expectations are so high onhim and the bus with his dad,
they get a lot of attention, and he mentioned that Colorado was everybody's
super Bowl. Come on, Shadorand I believe the the folks over it.

(29:26):
One of my favorite Instagram feeds.I think it's NFL memes. Ig.
Oh, yeah, that's a goodone. I believe it what it
is foll him on Twitter. Yeah, I think that's what it is.
NFL. Yeah, NFL memes underscoreig. They they posted it and they
said I think they said something likecongratulations to UCLA, Utah, Washington State.

(29:48):
They listed all the pack. I'mwinning a super Bowl last year,
that's right. Yeah, they were. They were three and z to start
this season. Then they lost eightof nine. Yeah to finish the year.
Yeah, you're not everybody super Bowl. I hate to break it to
your shooter. He just is ahell of a quarterback and he's gonna be
drafted in the top five next year. Might be the number one pick for
all we know, who knows.By the way, the media predictions for
the Big twelve have Colorado finishing eleventhout of sixteen teams. Yeah, I

(30:14):
could see that they're not very good, you know, but he is a
hell of a player. He's areally good quarterback. And unfortunately, you
know, line play matters, andwhen you got five guys from the transfer
portal, you're trying to fix yourline and you're not developing guys, and
you're more concerned with dudes that arewide receivers, quarterbacks and corners and all
that sort of stuff. It's notgonna go well when you come up against

(30:38):
the Oklahoma States of the world andnow you just take them off by the
way, Yeah, exactly, youdidn't made them even more mad. So
the eight of nine, as youmentioned Kate's, they lost after a three
and zero start. So good luckto Shooto or his dad, Dion and
all the bus fans out there. And that's quick hits. When we returnable
to your dead and live guy birthdayto day, pass it over well to
you, Tim, you'll keep itgoing with Dodgers on deck as we get

(30:59):
ready for first pitch against the Phillies. Maybe I'll pass it to Lebron.
Continue that one hundred by four andRelo. There you go. He's the
anchor. All right, Petro somemoney. Petros will be back tomorrow.
We'll be on from one to three. Tim Kates Today, Bang up job
for this quick one hour show fromone until two, and then we'll be
back to a regular schedule next week. Do not forget. McK cronin will
be in studio on Monday in thethree o'clock hour, so we would love

(31:23):
for you to tune in. Mixthe Best coming all the way over from
Westwood into our Burdbank studio is goingto hang out for an hour. Great
great offseason for Mick. The UCLAbasketball Bruins nil the Transfer Portal and beginning
to play in the same sandsbox sandboxas the Kentucky's Dukes and Kansas's the World.

(31:44):
Tonight we got Dodgers, and bytonight we mean today. It's a
three zero five pm start. DodgersPhillies Land and nac is on the mound.
Dodger fans, get your game daymeal on at Shakey's Pizza Parlor and
get your Shaky's pizza. You're chickingyour mojo's right now at Shaky's dot com
and you will be enjoying it forthe first pitch. All right, Matt,
I got your dead guy. Birthdaytoday, Happy would have been ninety

(32:05):
third birthday to Tab Hunter. Bornin nineteen thirty one in New York,
he was born Arthur Kelm. Hisparents divorced, They moved to California and
he lived with his mom. Helegally changed his name to her maiden name.
As a pre teen, he wasa competitive figure skater. Then at
the age of fifteen, he enlistedin the US Coast Guard. This was
nineteen forty six. Nineteen forty six. He'd lied about his age obviously,

(32:27):
and after a few months they said, hey, you're not eligible. They
kicked him out of the Coastguard. So he didn't know what to do,
so he went to this a coupleof Hollywood parties here in Hollywood. Oh
yeah, got signed by an agentwho said, you know what, you
got something just like Rock Hudson andRobert Waddiner. You're a good looking,
blonde haired, real sharp, muscular. We're gonna change your name too.
You're now tab Hunter. Yeah, tap Hunter, that is a good name.

(32:49):
His first success on the big screencame in nineteen fifty two, when
he started opposite Linda Darnell in Islandof Desire. His breakthrough role though,
came when he was cast as theyoung marine Day in nineteen fifty five's World
War Two drama Battle Cry. Hewould team up with Natalie Wood in two
films back in nineteen fifty five andfifty six tab Hunter was a good looking

(33:10):
guy. He was also a musician. He had a hit in nineteen fifty
seven called Young Love, which wasnumber one on the Billboard and was considered
rock and roll and was a hugesuccess and helped kind of launch the rock
and roll era during the mid fifties. Well, when Back to TV got
his own show opposite Ed Sullivan,it was a disaster lasted for one year.
He continued to act into the nineteenseventies with smaller roles. His career

(33:35):
was revived in the nineteen eighties withWhen he Started Polyester in nineteen eighty one
and then Paul Bartel's nineteen eighty fivefilm Lust in the Dust, Oh Hey
Now. Hunter's last film role though, came in the horse themed family film
Dark Horse in nineteen ninety two, which he wrote and co produced with You
Guessed It his life partner Alan Glasser. Well, there you go. We

(33:59):
I would have seen ere the rockHudson. Yeah, good looking guy.
They called him a hunk in Hollywood. He was linked to Debbie Reynolds and
Natalie Wood during his day, butin fact he was gay and officially came
out in his memoir which was publishedin two thousand and five. He's got
a star on the Hollywood Walk ofFame. He's recognized again in the nineteen
fifties as one of the first rockand roll stars of that era. He

(34:21):
lived with his partner in Santa Barbarafor many years. Unfortunately passed away three
day shy of his eighty seventh birthdayin twenty eighteen from a heart attack.
By all accounts, he was agreat guy. He took care of his
brother's family when his brother died inVietnam. He supported them financially forever.
Said he could never really reveal hewas gay during this time. Different time,

(34:42):
Yeah, a different time, andhe said yeah. They wanted to
have him as a boy next door, marine, cowboy, swoon bait,
sweetheart that he portrayed in most ofhis movies. So we know, sounds
like a great guy by the way. JJ Abrams, as of last year,
is reportedly working on a movie Allabout his life happy. It would
have been ninety third birthday today toactor Tab Hunter. All right, well,

(35:07):
from Tab Hunter to Suzanne Vega VegaMan, Luca Man, Tom's diner
Man. Born in Santa Monica, but mom gets divorced, remarries, they

a huge, huge deal in GreatBritain. Ar Lean on the Wall was
a big hit over there, gota little bit of play on MTV,

Tom's Diner was on the same albumSolitude Standing. It was straight acapella.

fun fact here their daughter's name isRuby, like one of your daughter's dates,
