playing Red Rocks tonight forty three.Do you think I took the day off?
I flew to Denver. I'm goingto see Deck to Doug. Give
me my rock and roll music bedor not. We've got prizes on site,

(01:12):
including two night Las Vegas getaway, five hundred dollars Living Spaces gift card,
Westinghouse fifty inch four k Roku TV. I think the prizes were updated
yesterday. Red Sox ticket to theDodger game. If you're a Boston face.
You can even go on Sunday toVIP visit to the Chargers new training

(01:34):
facility in El Segundo, a suiteautograph football from the Chargers autographed by the
violin player, the Electric Violin Ast, tickets to see Arsenal at Dignity Hell
Sports Park, and fifty dollars Rockand Brew gift cards. All of those

(01:56):
things will be given away and trustus know you can't hear it now.
There will be a rock and rollingtype of style at the event that you
were not gonna want to miss, and our many sponsors are there as well.
But Matt, I you know Ihate to start the show like this.
Yesterday you held it over my headlike the sun of Dema clean because

(02:22):
you said, why threat remember whatyou said yesterday? You know I got
a story for you. I gotsomething. Oh the shaking, the Macon
shake and Bacon right, the Billshakin thing took a shot at Artie Moreno,
called Rob mannfor the commissioner and said, why is he still on a
team? Which was what the verysame thing he called out David Vassy for
and tried to get him fired, and then he tried to call out Dodger

(02:44):
Talk, and then he tried tocall out Sports Tak Radio and guess how
he was rewarded today? How washe rewarded today? Rogan and Rodney put
him on. Come on, whatdo you think of that? Well?
I think they are arch enemies,so I think of that exactly what do
you think of that? How dareyou put that guy on the air.

(03:06):
We we do a whole thing yesterdayabout how we tried to get David Veasse
literally tried to get him fired, said the Dodger brass cannot be happy with
this with their embedded reporter calling outthe ownership of the Angels posted that on
his Twitter feed, went on Roganand Rodney today, Well they did not

(03:29):
just upset us. I don't know, maybe because they had a full show
and they were desperado. Oh,they tried to hand it to us.
At fifty eight, Katie had toadd two minutes, did she Yeah?
We need to figure out a transparentand measured response to this. We may
transparent well fishing fishing trip. That'sthe response you were. Shoot. We

(03:52):
tell Ta no, We tell weno, not Godfather's style. We tell
Dave, weees that we want tohost a listener fishing trip. Piss off?
All right, I thought you wouldlike Fredo. Oh god. Now
this was detailed yesterday and Matt MudeySmith's number the day and he held it
over my head for an hour andten minutes like the sun. And today

(04:16):
Rogan and Rodney turn around and bookBill an enemy of great sports talk,
and not just an enemy great sportstalk. It's one thing to be an
enemy of great sports talk because it'sany of them. People don't like us,
and that doesn't preclude you from doingother things. Because we've upset a
lot of people. The line islong, and we realize that we're culpable

(04:39):
for some of these things. We'regenerally hated in time. Well, such
is the price of great sports talk. Great sports Talk. Do this job
for real, trying to make anyfriends. But he's an enemy of the
station. He's an enemy of Lasports Radio. He called out sports radio
and said it sucked. He wrotea whole thing about how Dodger talks Sun.

(05:01):
He tweeted and tried to get DavidVass in trouble, which he did
get David Vass in trouble, andthen talking to right and then turns around.
You got a tongue lasher. Andthen he turns around and writes the
same article that you pointed out. Now, of course his role is different
than this and that, but fhim. So this guy's an enemy of

(05:24):
Amphi seventy LA sports the blowtorch. This aggression will not stand against the people
of Kuwait. I don't like this, Mike. I think this is wrong,
and I don't know who to address. No one listens to sports talk
radio in LA. Why that iswhat he tweeted, and that was the

(05:46):
headline of his article. I meanin Bill shak and going on the Pete
Noon Show. I take that asa personal affront to us. There's a
photo of Felder and mas on thehead of that freaking article. That's a
great show, right, Pete Noon? Who will answer for this absolute and

(06:11):
total miscarriage of justice? Who?Matt? Does anybody have anything to say?
Fully functional employee Adam? Anything? Is Kevin Kevin ran away. Oh
he do. Kevin's gone, Adam'sdoing some clipper prep or something. Katie
is holding down the Ford. Thankyou, Katie. I mean Matt is

(06:31):
real bad. You think Vic hassomething to say about it? Or do
you think Vic's gonna ham in Haweand gnaw and shaw? I had no
idea. The animosity ran this deep. He's a real piece of crap.
Vic. How did you not,Vic? Obviously Vic turned down your machine

(06:51):
turned because Ronnie's not there to holdyou in check, and Katie's gonna be
to listen. The animosity demands aprobe. Obviously, it demands a probe.

(07:12):
Well, we don't need a probelike a Ford probe, some sort
of prob Why why the the bitternessof shaken? Why is he so bitter,
you know, towards h DV whodoes an amazing job covering the Dodgers.
And jealous he's making making jealous. He's jealous of the relationship that he
had with the players. You didn'tparticipate in that interview, did you,

(07:34):
Vic? You don't okay? Allright, none at all? Would you
have if they asked you to doit? I bet you would be very
I'd be very open and I would, you know, defend DV you know,
with my last blue breath. Ibet it wasn't even brought up.
How he tried to attack sports talkradio in the city of Los Angeles and

(07:56):
get David Vasse, the best embeddedreporter with any team beware fired. I
don't believe that subject was was touched. I'll lot to go back to the
to the podcast. All right,Matt, anything anything for vic here?

(08:20):
Well, I'm still just I amgobsmacked. I am flamixed. I understand
you want to book guests to fillsegments, but at what cost? At
what cost? I mean, howdare you? How dare you? Man
tried to get everybody fired in sportstalk radio in Los Angeles, saying we're

(08:41):
not a viable institution like their viablein Boston, New York, Chicago,
Houston, telling us that we SanFrancisco, we should just disappear like Marty
McFly and back to the future inthe picture. Try to get David Veasse
fired twice, try to get Dodgertalk off the air, and then he

(09:01):
has the gall the balls to reachout to our boss and say, hey,
how about you give me a podcaston iHeartRadio now? Here is what
we need to get to the bottomof. Matt. Was this a terrible
coincidence that can only be explained awayas a tragedy in great sports talk radio?

(09:22):
Or was this a malicious move,a cunning attempt to upset us by
somebody in the Rogan and Rodney camp. Maybe Pete Noon. No, I
would not put this on Pete Noon. Pete nuon is Pete Noon is an

(09:45):
independent contractor copy In all of this, Rogan and Rodney are planting. I
believe they are planting nefarious seeds.I believe that to be true. You
think it is spread. I thinkit's Fred. I think it is the
diabolical mind of Fred. He's listeningright now, and he is laughing,

(10:05):
and he is enjoying every sectation. The station doesn't terrestrially come in where Fred
lives now attached me, That's howhe is detached. He is from our
local footprint, from the safety someone hundred and fifty miles away. He
can sit on his patio roasting toa one hundred and fifteen degree heat with
the misters on, like a rosemarypotato baking with the misters on, chuckling

(10:31):
at what he has created. Bybooking. I'm sure someone that he has
had a long relationship with Bill Shakan, who's covered the Dodgers for a long
time. Fred, of course inLA Sports for a long time, by
putting him on the air to spewhis garbage, his filthy bile about Artie
Moreno and his lack of competent ownership, to the degree that he reached out

(10:56):
to the Commission of Baseball, whotook his call and wighed in with some
quotes for the article after suggesting DavidVeasse should be fired by saying negative things
about the owner of the Angel someten years ago, and I'd forgotten,
I mean not unforgotten. You youknow what happens when Shakan looks at me
and where at Dodger stayed at?Are? You give him that look?
I give him the real you know, I got that look, the real

(11:18):
one, not like the guy thatwas mad at those kids fishing in Tennessee.
I give him the real one, just the real Jason Stath of being
can look away? Yeah, lookaway. It's a Terra style baby look
away. Uh you know how Ireact? Now, Matt. Here's a
text that I just got from theeight one to eight it says Rogan and

(11:39):
Rodney made Petroson money look ridiculous withthat Bill Shaken interview, and men in
that position of Petroson money cannot bemade to look ridiculous as well. It's
time to start laying some severed horseheadsat the sleeping feet of all the enemies
of the Petroson money show. Youset. You're saying they fired the first
salvo, my crout, Nick friend, it was just the assassination of Franz

(12:01):
Ferdinand. I think we're talking aboutmister Woltz because in comes Johnny Fontaine with
his olive oil skin. It isgiddy charm and she runs away with him.
And just to show you that I'mflesh and blood, that it's not
all numbers. She's the greatest pieceof ass I've ever had, and I've
had them all over the world. She was beautiful. So we are very

(12:24):
aggressively pursuing what happened here and whyit happened, and how we will gain
our revive, get the upper handas great sports Talk, because Matt is
Sports Talk. You did that storyyesterday, it would be one hell of
a coincidence, one hell of acoincidence. Well, and I did the
story yesterday, and the article hadposted the day before. So well,

(12:48):
that's about the Rogan and Rodney timelineof That's what I mean. If they
had wanted to put him on becausethey found the article interesting, which it
wasn't, they would have put himon yesterday. But they put him on
today because we acknowledged the article yesterday. They likely heard about it and decided
to stick it and twist it.On the Money Show, we have an

(13:11):
update from the eight oh five Matt, somebody that heard the interview, We
got an update. Man. Itsaid Shaken started having a coughing fit on
the air. Rogan and Rodney weret and Fred had to ask him if
he was okay. I believe Katiewas running the board at the time.
Is that accurate, Katie? Itis accurate? Thank you. They said

(13:31):
he choked and went silent for threeseconds. Now, Matt is a Matt
is a proponent of black vudoo magic. But I would never do something like
that. Uh chicken foot and putin the pocket? Man? Can we
have for you? Do we havehaikup music for vic? So we cannot
because there we go. Now,Vick, you want to unfrill your puzzo

(13:56):
pull it out swinging around. Vic, Come on, because scored whopping twelve
points last night, two more thanyou projected, ten more than I projected.
I projected, Diaz ten I thinkI projected two. Said get a
lay up on the opening possession andthen pull them. They and they could

(14:16):
have, but they didn't. Theyshould have pulled him after the first half
fellas. Thank you for the opportunity, because Bronnie did find the way in
Las Vegas last night with the twelvepoints he hit the first I mean,
like not the way to like theEncore though, like the way to the
Golden Nugget, right, I'd evengo below that, the way to the

(14:39):
Four Queens. I'm thinking, likethe Nevada Palace office. Who you know,
let's get him off the strip,Matt, you know what, twelve
points I'll give him Sam's Town.So the way he found the way to
where the locals play exactly right?Go ahead, Vic? Sorry, Well,
obviously you know there's been attacks onhis play and which were warranted because

(15:01):
you know, he had missed sixteenstraight three point shots. He didn't look
fluid, but last night he lookedgood, and we want to I want
to give him credit for and somelove for the run his best run as
a Laker, it was, andbaby steps listen hopefully you know he watches

(15:24):
the film of what he did lastnight, or the tape or in the
first of a device. You knowthey're watching their highlights on and he has
more repetitions of what he did lastnight because he he definitely was effective,
and I was. I was.I was happy for the kid that he
found. You must have been elated, Vic, you must have been elated.

(15:46):
I was very happy for the kidthat the charade one more day,
that you can dance with the maskon and the masquerade with the Phantom of
the Opera, Unomas. The musthave really tickled your pickle. I did.
I didn't feel I was going tocome in and you know, high
step, throw out the puzzo andyeah, I told you so, But

(16:10):
you can if you it's up toyou. You're more than to He's not
at all. Listen, shot, that's a nice clip. The attacks were
warranted on his plate. I wouldhave benched him yesterday before that hal could
score twelve and turn it all aroundand become the favorite automatically for the Rookie
of the Year. Well, youwanted him coming off the bench, not

(16:30):
benched him. You would have justmade him an off the bench exactly the
flow of the game, exactly, watch the flow. You'll see where where
he could be effective. I justdon't know where thinks he could write an
article like that call out Vassa, write another article, and then write an
angel's article about the very thick thinghe called Vassa out for when he's on

(16:52):
the Dodger beat and turn around andtry to come on the station and act
like that's okay. Unchecked. Now, our boss allows us to essentially operate
this show as we see fit. It's wonderful to work for Don Martin.
How long until Shakan fills in witheither Rogan or Rodney takes a day off?
That's what I mean. Like thisis I don't want to go tattling

(17:15):
to to mom or Dad here, but Don's got to put his foot down.
You read through that article on sportsRadio, and the freaking people over
at the that the idiots over atthe four letter up the road are like,
well, you know, it's justan entertainment town, and you know,
we gotta sometimes you got to competewith the entertainment. It's a little
bit whereas our boss is like, hey, I don't give a damn.

(17:37):
What's your numbers? Say shaken? You know my number? Say dollars and
cents, and we're making money, you idiot. That's rather hard fool.
It's called financial not ratings. Hewas pissed. You could we know obviously
we know our boss very well, and you can read in those quotes how
pisted he was. Could Shakan wasgoing to write that article. This is

(18:00):
terrible, terrible, It's a greatmistake by the Midday Show here. I
expect them to be puny for it. I demand transparency, transparent investigation.
I want Kevin Figures hooked up toa polygraph and asked, why did you
book bill shake and how did itcome up? Right? Oh, let's

(18:25):
do it. Give him the drugs, shoot him up, give him the
seram and tell the truth today.Friend. Okay, Hey, vic,
I got a question for you.Bring back the bring back the music of
Tranquility. Has Brownie done enough toget called up to tam Usa for the
Olympics? I don't think so.Oh that's funny to you. I think

(18:48):
it's a little much. Listen,hit a good run, and as a
basketball purist, I celebrate good runs. You think saying good run makes you
legit somehow, because it's like somethinglike the guys would say it polic pavilion
or something, or at the men'sgym. Is that why you said that.
I've been saying it since I wasa gross up in the streets with
Queens. We got one more SummerLeague game VIC tonight tonight, and then

(19:15):
I believe, I believe they'll playfour four preseason games as usually with him
made four to six based on theas you called it run last night,
you projecting Brownie sitting on that benchfor opening night with the Lakers. Oh
yeah, no, none at all. No, it's it's summer league.

(19:37):
He needs a lot of reps, and the summer league a great nurturing ground
for him. It will be agreat nurturing ground. You know, I
could just see Fred while you weretalking about shaking yesterday around the corner like
a little weasel, like that raccoonguy in the gardens of the gallopy.
Yeah, you know, licking hishands, rubbing his hands all together.

(20:00):
I'm gonna show them that's what happened. This will really twist their nipples.
And it did. It did.I'm upset. I'm living. You can't
give that guy a platform here herefor potential clicks on his BS article.
You're you're potentially driving traffic to hisBS article. I'm with you, Matt

(20:23):
Grave mistake, Grave, grave mistake, as you like to say, a
personal affront Fred book Shaken had toThis stinks of Fred's colone. It really
does. And as I said,he's cackling right now. I can see

(20:47):
him. It stinks of Fred's colooneand one of those weird Marlborough ultra light
cigarettes. I can't even feel it, just if you're a little scratch in
the back of your throat. That'swhat Shakn was. You know who should
be let go for this, RonnieFossil, Exactly right, Ronni. If

(21:07):
you were there, I know youwould have told him I can't put him
on you try to get a fire. He tried to shut us down.
Well, congratulations Vic on the twelvepoint run. As the cool kids say,
you called it, Vick, youwere right again. I've been made
to be a fool, not atall, not a clown man, not
at all. The critiques of hisearly play or warranted. Obviously he's heard

(21:33):
the heat he's used to the heatwithter Mamber. He's only nineteen years old,
but he's used to, you know, to being the focus you know
of well media, fury. Well, they've created an unfair narrative of who
he is as a basketball player, and we all have to play along,
and you're part of it. AndI'm ashamed of that. I'm not even
kidding. I'm naked eye for me, naked eye and unless last night I

(21:56):
was I was very, very siousJackson impressed with the way with the way
he played. I was us withthe way he played last night's fair.
I wasn't okay. Thank you,Vic, You're the best Vick Fee feeling
you. We're gonna talk to DonMcClain the very next segment. You know,
Russell Westbrook got traded. He isuh enroute to Denver via Utah.

(22:21):
Chris Dunn is coming back to theClippers. I threw shaking a bone and
he choked on air. Well, diabolical, Fred, you are diabolical bad
guy, right, BG, Nodoubt doubt in my mind, it's a
GM bad guy move. Don mcclanwill join us next with the latest in

(22:45):
the world of hoops. We gotDave Dousick from Golf Week, joining us
David Vase. He's got Dodger talktonight in another four hours of Petrosen Money.
Tomorrow we'll be in El Segundo startingat three. We are your home
of shoe Heotani the Dodgers. Theywill get back to business tomorrow when they

(23:06):
host the Boston Red Sox. Wewill have five. Other prizes include a
five on a dollars Living Spaces giftcard in a fifty inch four k Roku
TV from Westinghouse. All right,it's time for Don McLean come right into
it. That's right, dude,it's on the table right. A lot

(23:32):
to talk about Summer league going down. Russell Westbrook traded the BFF of the
Petrosen Money Show. When's he goingto Oregon? When's he leaving town?
He works so hard? The oneand only Don McLain. In a week
we talked to Mick Cronin and EricMusselman, the leading scorer in the history
of the Pac twelve. And yousee la, the next ass he kisses

(23:53):
will be the first. The oneand only Don McLain on your Southern California
Toyota Dealer. Pretty hotline. It'scracking, Don. How are you hard.
Trying to make my way back fromLax. I just dropped Trent off
and there's an eighteen wheeler sideways onthe four oh five right now? Oh
for realbum where? Yeah, sidewaysfour h five south right after the one

(24:18):
oh one, like right up inthe inner chain like boulevards. That is
a bad scene over there, Scirball, if you're headed to the store,
ball or for one lane. Ohgod, what a mess. Geez well,
we hope everybody. He's our commander, Chuck Street. I mean,
that's half a karmageddon if you're laidout across one side. I mean,

(24:38):
that's half a karmageddon, all right, Don. The big news today is
Russell Westbrook was a Laker, abig crazy trade that kind of hurt the
Lakers and didn't work out, becamea Clipper. I wouldn't say that it
didn't work out, but they're movingon from him. Your thoughts, Yeah,
I thought that was interesting because Ithought Westbrook, you know, it

(25:00):
was good for the Clippers. Nowmaybe they viewed differently without PG and that,
you know, him taking on abigger role as in what they wanted
from him. I mean, onlythe front office knows that. But I
was a little surprised. I thoughtthey would keep them, but obviously Denver
wants them and they're going to getthem. Well, they get them,

(25:21):
The Clippers get Chris Dunn back, who's been trying to make it for a
little while since being a high pickin the draft. And then there's some
speculation that they may not be done. There's a bunch of names floating around
done. I'm sure you've seen them, Zach Lavine is one, but that
the Clippers are a team that wouldbe very interested and still acquiring one of
those big name players. And thismay not be the squad that we think

(25:44):
it's going to be when the seasontips off. Do you suspect there's still
maybe big game hunting out there foranother star? Hocked to anybody, but
I knowing them and what they've donethe last four or five years since Steve
Balmer's been the owner, They've proventhat they're willing to spend. They've proven
that they're willing to be aggressive intrades and going after big name So yeah,

(26:07):
I wouldn't be surprised for one secondif this roster isn't done, and
that it won't be done until weget into training camp. The one and
only Don McClain is our guest.Don is on the four to h five
feeling the effects of the Los Angelessummertime, hot and angry commute. Let's
go now, Don. Obviously, the summer League for the Lakers is a

(26:30):
huge story and maybe overblown just alittle bit. How much attention do you
pay in general with your job atCAAA and your job with the Clippers and
all that, to the summer leagueand how it works, and how much
attention are you paying this year?I typically error towards the side of watching

(26:51):
the players I just had in thespring and seeing how they're doing. That's
kind of the first priority. Andthen you know, because the Clippers are
such a veteran laden team that noneof their main guys playing summer league,
and it's a lot of guys thatprobably aren't going to be on the roster.
I watch it, but I don'tmake sure I tune in, but
I've watched a couple of their games. But yeah, it's something I pay

(27:12):
attention to, but more so kindof selfishly with the guys I have and
how they're doing. What is thelevel, you know, like, what
is like for guys like us thatI mean we understand the levels of basketball
only so well as opposed to anexpert. What is the level of the
Summer League as opposed to what thereal NBA is like, as opposed to

(27:33):
NBA preseason or the G League stufflike that. It's somewhere near the NBA
regular season. I think it's evenprobably a step below the G League.
It depends on the team. Imean, there are teams in the Summer
League that have some good young playerson it, just they don't always play
like Hockey has played two games andI think he's done now. So the
good young players that have established themselvesas rookies will come back and play.

(27:56):
Jordan Hawkins, another kid we had, play a couple of games and then
shut it down. But the levelis what's interesting about watching it. If
you're asking, I'm not sure exactlywhat the level is, but when watching
players in the Summer League, youjust see that there's not a lot of
understanding of how to play the game. There's not a lot of understanding of

(28:19):
changes speed and direction in terms ofhow you play. And it's the speed
that you play at. Everybody's playinga million miles an hour. Everybody's not
interested in spacing and running offense andmoving the ball. It's more in ISO,
and so it's hard to evaluate guysin that environment because they're not playing

(28:41):
with pro So if I'm watching theguy playing in basically a pickup game,
how do I understand how that translatesto a real NBA game where guys understand
all those things I just said. But it's a great opportunity for some of
these young guys in the real opportunityfor me in looking at teams, especially
players that are playing for established teamsthat are contenders, is the opportunity to

(29:08):
play in front of all the otherpeople watching, not only other teams,
but in Europe, and there's athere's a there's a million scouts there from
from teams in Europe. And ifyou're a friends NBA guy, I've always
said this, and people have askedme players that aren't going to be drafted
that are you know a best twoway guys? Everyone's so reluctant to go

(29:29):
overseas. And I get it thatthat your dream has always been in the
NBA. But if you're a twoway guy to start, you know,
or a G League guy to start, it is a long road. If
you're going to make it to theNBA. Yes, there are examples,
but why not the idea of goingover to another country for ten twelve years,

(29:51):
making enough money, come back andthen you can decide what you want
to do with the rest of yourlife. Because you bring all that money
back, you don't pay for anything. They pay for your car, your
house, everything, And so there'splenty of examples of that of guys to
just say, you know what,I think I'm good enough to make the
NBA, but I'll probably not,So let me go make a career out
of this somewhere else and come backand have a nice life when I get

(30:12):
back. Yeah, no doubt.Like you said, they're all auditioning for
different levels of play, and oneof those guys very well could have been
Brownie James, but he was givenyou know, eight million bucks or seven
point seven million dollars and a guaranteedroster spot earned. Don do you I'm
sure you've heard some of it atleast do you think it's fair Like we

(30:34):
had Yo ban Buja yesterday. Right, he's a Laker beat rider and he
was trying to spin it positive. But even as he was trying to spin
it as positive as possible, AndI'm sure this is him in Las Vegas,
hearing from scouts that he's interviewing beforehe writes his articles. He said,
look, if you're based on ifwe're based on what we see,
not only is he not a fouryear, guaranteed contract guy, he might

(30:57):
not be a two way play atthis point with the way that he's played,
and might not be on a summerleague roster for every game based on
his play. Do you think that'sfair? Is it fair to judge Brownie
on how he's played in this setting? Well, now he's in the setting.
Look, we talked about this before. If he wasn't Bronnie James,

(31:19):
he wouldn't have been the fifty fifthpick. I guaranteed that he would not
have been drafted. So then thenit becomes if you're undrafted, do you
get a two way contract? Areyou just a G league guy? That's
a decision for a team. Buthe got the opportunity by being drafted fifty
fifth. That's the gift he wasgiven or earned, however you want to

(31:41):
look at it. But I thinkit's unfair if you get past that,
I think it's unfair to judge himjust on these three or four or five
summer league games, however many he'splayed, because he has gone better.
He played well yesterday, and Ithink he's going to be given the opportunity
to get better. But I thinkwe can all the people that understand this
and know it and are part ofit, that he would not have gotten

(32:04):
drafted had he not been Ronnie James. But he did, and they gave
him that contract, not a twoway deal, a full roster standard contract,
and so now it's up to himto get better and prove people wrong.
And I think I don't think that'ssuch a crazy thing that he's being
given this opportunity to get better.Now. The discussion will be in two

(32:27):
years. If he hasn't gotten better, if he's still the same player,
if he's still not affecting the game, he's still not a great shooter,
then I think you could start topile on and say, you know what,
they should have never drafted him,He never could en out, should
have been it. You can sayall those things, but I don't think
it's fair to say it right now. After a few John overall, when

(32:50):
it comes to the situation at SCwe talked about how it's a situation where
there's a little highlight and he getsthe headline and it might rub some people
the wrong way at the college level, and you talked about that with us
last season. How does that workin a pro environment? Obviously Lebron James
is the figurehead of the Lakers orwhatever you want to say. I mean,

(33:15):
it's got to create some resentment,I think on a certain level.
But you know, I don't knowwhat it's like to be Lebron James in
how much he has earned whatever hegets because he has And so I think
if everybody's looking at this and theyand they agree with what we've just said,

(33:36):
and they last a couple of minutes, I don't think there's gonna be
a resentment. I think there's gonnabe more like, you know what,
Lebron James is Lebron James, andit's his kid, and they're giving him
an opportunity. Let's see what hedoes with it. I think if you've
been around the NBA for as longas I have, this is a unique
situation. But I just feel likeit's it's unfair how much media attention this

(33:57):
gets for Bronny. But it's alsounfair to jump to conclusions. And I
think whether again, whether you believethat he should have gotten this opportunity or
not. He got it. Nowlet's see what he does with it.
And it's up to Brownie now toprove everybody wrong that's saying whatever they're saying
about him after a few summer weekgames. Uh don The one thing that

(34:17):
that other people are pointing out isjust you know, the these late second
round picks, they're almost always flyers. They're international guys that you'll stash for
a year or two and they maynever come over. It's possible that they
never even or they're you know, they are picks. They're oh, this
is a friend of the coach andhe's pretty good. Let's make them.

(34:37):
So I guess what I'm asking iswill it Do you think there's a chance
that it negatively affects the Lakers?Like, you know, yesterday they brought
up the point. Two days ago, we brought up the point that Gary
Trent is a guy they could haveused, and he signed an NBA minimum
contract and the Lakers have no rosterspots so they weren't available to sign them.
Like, how how big of animpact if any and shoot you work

(35:00):
for the Clippers. You know whatthese guys are, the Coffees of the
world that end up working their wayfrom that fifteen spot to be a major
contributor. Does it have the potentialto be a seriously negative move or no.
It's just that's what they chose todo with the fifty fifth pick.
Get over it. That's a greatpoint, Matt, because I just said,

(35:20):
you know, that's what they chooseto do. They rewarded Lebron and
gave him an opportunity Bronni. Butyou're right. I mean, hey,
if you could have had Gary Trentfor the miss Let's say you knew that
you could have had Gary Trent Juniorfor the minimum before the draft, would
you still have drafted Bronni? Becauseit's clear Gary Trent Junior is an NBA
player, a solid NBA player, and like you said, a guy that

(35:43):
they could use, but they couldn'tget them because Ronnie took up that roster
spot. And that's I think thehard part is that the fifty fifth pick
is usually a two way guy.Usually, like I don't know what percentage,
but usually, and so he's nottaking up a roster spot. Could
have used it for Garry Trent Jinger. So that is a valid argument.

(36:05):
Pretty sweet. If you go overseasand make money, you might come back
with a wacky foreign wife too.Don, has that ever happened? Oh?
Yeah, for sure. Yeah,to go over there forget the money,
Don, I'd like you to meetOlga. We're opening a Perogi restaurant.
It's gonna be great, It's gonnabe aw I wish my knee wasn't
all screwed up. I would havedone that. I would have married some

(36:28):
six or four German chick. Yeah, we have a bunch of porzingiss in
our family. Sorry, Brook,my eyes have been opened. Brook.
I'm out here in Duseldorf. Everything'schanged. I'm married an East German swimmer.
I'm always on time, and mywife's back looks like a gigantic kite.

(36:54):
Uh. Don, do you getto take it some time off or
you're relaxing? Now? What's goingon the traffic? I'm actually going to
Indianapolis tomorrow, Oh yeah, withTrent, and then we're back and then
we are actually going on vacation nextSaturday, the twenty seventh, for a
week. So finally get to chillout. Oh you got name checked by

(37:16):
the way, as you would expectby Mick Crohn. And he came in
studio for like an hour on onMonday, Yes, and just brought up
the connections that he's been making withthe UCLA legends. As this thing is
shifted. They got some money now, they signed a bunch of guys through
the portal, felt really good aboutthe dudes they were bringing in, and

(37:36):
seemed like he was in a prettydamn good place, even though it didn't
seem like he's that crazy about thecurrent state of college basketball. Seemed like
he made peace with it and hada pretty good offseason. You know what's
interesting is he was at because he'srecruiting a player on Trent's team. He's
not recruiting Trent, but so Isaw him from across the way. They're
not allowed to talk with parents. It's like an NCAA role, which is

(37:57):
ridiculous. But anyways, so heand I were texts and they're basically the
whole game. Because watching AU basketball, I'd rather like stick porks in my
eyes. But yeah, he is. I feel like it took a lot
of hard work from him to getpeople on board with this whole nil thing
because that's how you have to playthe game now, everybody, not just

(38:19):
UCLA, everyone, And he workedreally hard. I know he did because
we talked about it and he gotit done. But that doesn't mean that
he agrees with it. And I'mnot speaking for him, but I don't
agree with it either, and Ithink a lot of people don't that this
is how it's being played now.But you got to give him a lot
of credit is that he got itdone. He got really good players in
the offseason in the portal, likeeverybody has to do now, and they're

(38:42):
gonna be pretty good next year. The great Don McClaine, he's always really
good. Don had a great timeon the fourtal five there. If you
gotta pull off, see what's goingon at the Scuball Museum. You know,
go ahead, We appreciate you andhave a great night. All right,
guys, how good weekend? Yeah? There he goes en route to

(39:02):
Indy Basketball tournament to you go.But that was pretty good. It's great,
not great for people to have tohit the four oh five. Perhaps
we helped you take a detour that'slike eight lanes down to one. Eric

(39:27):

Rogan and Rodney interview today. Yescool. Yesterday, Matt you pointed out
what a betrayer of great sports talkand our station in general, Bill Shakin,

(40:59):
what great sports talk and is.And then the next day he turns
around and goes on Rogan and Rodneyand has a coughing attack. Coincidence,
We don't know. No, it'snot a coincidence. It was done deliberately.
And this says from the eight tofive eight if no one goes on
sports radio in LA, then whydid he go on with Fred and Rodney?

(41:21):
Yeah? Well that's the thing.Bill Shakan wrote this big article about
how sports talk radio in LA isn'ta viable thing and all that, even
though I mean, we've done thisfor twenty years, it feels kind of
viable to us. And he wrotethis whole thing and disparaged our boss,
and then afterwards called our boss andwas like, hey, how about that

(41:43):
podcast? What you know what,I'll tell you what I would have done.
You've got it, Bill, I'llgive you a podcast. You get
zero money, but if you cansell it and you'll be a partner in
profit, Just so I could seehow pathetic Lee it would perform. No
downloads, no traction, no growth, It would do nothing, and it

an East German woman making superhuman whitekids music. To Tim Katz's ear,

(43:15):
Tim heard that all the way upon the safest beach in America. Lebron
talk all day, very redundant, just like Vic and his ball washing act.
Wait a minute, We've done allkinds of different things. Yeah,
we talked about breeding. We talkedabout yeah, genetic superiority with a six
foot ten man and a six footfour German woman, moonraker with traps the

(43:40):
size of Rhode Island. We talkedabout Bill Shakin. We talked about the
Russell Westbrook trade. What do youwant? What do you want from us?
Blood? Jeez, everybody's so freakingannoying. Matt. See now I
don't like this, Sure, Idon't like it. Like Rodney. I
don't think Rodney had anything to dowith book Fred written all over it.

(44:00):
But look at this guy says Rodneyneeds to be thrown into the desert Anis
