The day, his words, the word of the day.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
Today's word of the day is Hail to the victors,
Michigan number eighteen in the country. The defending champs rocked
on their heels by Texas making a change at quarterback
ahead of the Big ten opener against USC, A game
that looks a lot better for USC here in September
(02:08):
than it did back in early August before anybody started playing.
And you know that's what Chris Berman said, Matt, That's
why they played the game.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
That is why they played the games.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
They're switching quarterbacks. They're going to Alex Orgi, the guy
that Robert Griffin was like, Oh, there was an orgy
in the end zone.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Nobody thought of that RG three.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
Yeah. Sharon Moore made the announcement today, Orgie replaces a
great story in Davis Warren, who's very much still alive
but no longer the starter, a guy from New Jersey
who rehabbed from leukemia in LA walked on at Michigan
and orgy is apparently chopping at the bit. According to
(02:55):
his coach, Warren had three picks against Arkansas State. If
you're wondering.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
Why that'll do it.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Is USC gonna beat Michigan in the Big House?
Speaker 2 (03:07):
Maybe?
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Yeah, it feels it feels like it's trending in that direction.
So well, beyond that all week, in this short week
of great sports talk to the sports talk.
Speaker 3 (03:20):

is twelve year hiatus.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
It was darn close if not the first super incredibly.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Addictive app game.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
That got us even more attached to our smartphone devices.
Flappy Bird, Oh, flappy Bird, Remember Flappy Bird. All you
do is tap your screen and the bird would raise
a little bit. You tap it a bunch, it goes
way up there. You don't tap it, it comes down
and you just had to get between the pipes, try
to go as far as you can from left to right.
Before you knew it, you'd wasted two hours. It's designer
(04:01):
Dong to win.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
Yeah, remember Dong.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
Remember Dong.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Dong is like, I don't want Dong's name on this,
so he pulled it. It was the number one app
in the App Store and Google Play, and he pulled it.
Said no, you can't do it anymore. I don't want
people's inactivity on my back and on my name. I
was twelve years ago now after he pulled it, of course,
(04:28):
like dumbwayte to Die and Candy Crush just replaced it anyway,
So he was, you know, appreciated Dong.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
He's bringing it back.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
It's gonna return next year, he says, with new characters,
new game modes. So if Flappybird was your jam, you're
now covered. Keep an eye out early twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
It will return.
Speaker 1 (04:45):

Chargers Chief tickets, gas cards, two hundred and fifty dollars,
Marongo Casino gift card that makes you morph into a
whole different person. And now it's time for the top
(06:26):
story of the day, Top story of this UIL.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
I'm on the East Coast.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
The Chargers get a victory in Carolina, making the week
in Charlotte considerably more pleasant. Had they not won that game,
I have no idea what the atmosphere, the aura, the
disposition of the individuals walking the hallways would have been like.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
Considering especially to who you are playing.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
You know that's you know, you watch the game against
the Saints, you see them go I think one for
eleven on third down down twenty to zero, thirty to three,
and Bryce Young coming out of that game with a
quarterback rating of thirty two point five and Pry.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Turned into Steve Herkle after his time at Modern Day
in Alabama. He literally morphed from Stefan into Steve Rkele
Morozzo casino style.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
It is incredibly unfortunate by all accounts. A nice young man,
a nice family, played incredible football at Modern Day, incredible
football at Alabama, UH.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
Where it is high right, and would have.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
Been the number one pick of the Houston Texans had
Lovey Smith not won that game in Indianapolis. That he
was the number one guy on their board and they
just took Stroud because the Panthers took him. But something
you say so often circumstance, he found himself on an
NFL roster that I don't know now that Dr Brown
(08:00):
is hurt, I don't know if there's a starter. This
may sound like recency bias or prisoner of the moment,
but maybe JC Horn can be a starting cornerback on
somebody's team, but there are not many.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
There might be.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
Three guys on this roster that would be starters on
any of the thirty two NFL teams. It is one
of the most in net performances I have ever seen
from a football team in a game that I've had
the privilege to call in a long time. In the NFL,
it's one thing to have lopsided matchups, you know, because
(08:35):
you decide to schedule a cupcake and you know, in
November and you're in the SEC and it gets ugly
out there. This is the NFL. These guys are professionals.
They're making millions of dollars. They were the best players
in college. And to see a team so thoroughly outclassed,
outplayed and completely enabled to move the ball downfield really
(08:56):
is something. I mean that is hard, hard to do
in the NFL, let alone do it over the course
of two seasons. I would be floored if this was
not the number one overall pick. This team did not
have the number one overall pick. But that's for all
the people that want to point to the Chargers two
and zero record being a product of a team that
got blown off the field against the Saints and could
(09:17):
muster just three points against the Chargers.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
You play was on your schedule. Wow, Andy Dalton is
coming to save Carolina. So things could look differently as
the year goes on. Man, Yeah, Bryce Young has been patched.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
Yeah, and you know what, thank God, because like I
kept I kept laying out when he was, you know,
making his calls at the line and just hearing him
say we're good, we're good, or pointing out his checks
like it sounds like a child like it's it's one.
It's weird, right because he played in the SEC. It's
not like he was around small guys. He was on Alabama.
(09:52):
But when you look at him on the field and
you listen to him, it just it's different. It looks weird,
it sounds weird. He clearly, you know, we were talking
with and what a great broadcast team they have for
the Panthers for radio. It's Keith Lee, Jake Delom. They
do a three man booth with an ish and you
(10:12):
know they said that he's just in his own head
that by all accounts, he's a tough kid.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
Took sixty two sacks last.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
Year, was hit another fifty times and would just pop
right up and walk to the sideline, never really got hurt,
missed one game, and it's just not it's circumstance.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
You said it.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
You know, if he gets drafted to Houston, who knows
what Bryce Young's career looks like. But right now, it's
a dude that can't even throw. There's a wide open
Chewba Hubbard in the flat that would have gone for
fifteen yards, and he just airmails them and there's no
pressure and there's nothing and he just cannot even connect
on a pass that's that easy. And that was the
whole game. There was no accuracy, there was no accuracy
(10:50):
on the move. There was an inability to recognize, you know,
the fact that you can just throw a ball out
of bounds because you're thirty yards behind the line of
scrim out of field goal range, and not take a
sack from Denzel Peraman.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
And it's just really weird to why.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
I mean, not to get too deep into the Panthers,
but yeah, it was an odd game on that front.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
But here we are. Jim Harbaugh is all about football.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
It's a team now in twenty twenty four that in
back to back games has rushed for more yards than
they have passed, and they have Justin Herbert at quarterback.
And if you go back to two thousand, you think
about Marty Ball, the Chargers are twenty now twenty one
and three when they rush for more yards than they pass,
(11:35):
and I don't think this is something that's fleeting fleeting.
I believe this is going to be their identity. They
believe in their defense, they believe in that front in
their corners. They rotate those front four with Tuley and
Joey and Bud Dupree and Khalil Mack and they run
the hell out of the ball. And you heard what
(11:56):
coach Harbass said after that game. One of the biggest
improvement come from week one to week two. And as
dominant as Joealt was in week one and being celebrated
for not allowing a single pressure to Max Crosby, he
you could see that jump and just how physical and
dominant he was in that run game.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
Maybe he'll make the list that you've demanded, Matt.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
Maybe maybe you know what I'd like to think he
would be. But I'll be damned, and you know how
long I've been politicking for offensive line.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
You know, platform is.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
Your whole life. You've been a stone jawn smash mouth
football guy, no doubt that. Yes, I have been such
a great match here. Yeah, really I'm a real spread
him out, you know, running exactly right. I'm like mouse Davis.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
Uh but joe Alt is everything And we already said
this last week. But it's just another week. And another
week of him being even more impressive. Uh as a
rookie playing in just his second game. But it's been fun.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
JK.
Speaker 3 (12:57):
Dobbin's story is incredible. You know, you lose a season
to an acl then you lose a season two an achilles.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
And yeah, other than.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Bryce Young's terrible play and many of his just really
like non professional looking plays out there, that was the
big highlight that everybody watched of the game was Dobbins
flipping into the end zone.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
Yeah, you know, do the flip into the end zone.
Let everybody know your achilles is fine. And he did
say last week after getting caught twice on long runs
that it would not happen again, and well he was
prophetic on that front. He was able to get that
forty plus yard or into the end zone. Crazy stat
when you think about the history of the Chargers and
running backs that this is the first time in Chargers history, Ladanian, Tomlinson,
(13:41):
Ryan Matthews, Michael Berner, Turner, Natron means Business, Bernstein, Chuck Seesaw,
all those guys, none of them ever started a season
with back to back one hundred yard games.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
Well, it's crazy.
Speaker 3 (13:53):
So the first time and it was JK. Dobbins that
did it quickly. Just the rams are a disag But
here's the thing I'd like to point out. When I
took him as the underdog that I thought was going
to win this week, when I add the two and
a half points, they only lost forty one to twelve
and a half, So a lot better than losing forty
one ten straight out.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
Not JK. Dobbins isn't the only profit around Matt, you
know that's right.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
I am now one for nine, one and nine. I
should say one and nine on the season. So if
you choose to bet against me, you are up eight
hundred dollars if you do one hundred dollars units through
just two weeks of football. So if that's the way
you choose to play this, I will keep it going.
Either dig out of my hole or make all of
you that want to fade my picks a bunch of money.
(14:39):
Going back to last year, it has been a disaster
of game picking.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Nobody is worse than me. I should stop, but I
will not. I will.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
And by the way, kudos to Tim Kates and the Raiders.
We had a conversation last night celebrating that big victory
over the Baltimore Ravens, a hard fought win against a
hard nosed team as a big underdog, Raiders even up
their record at.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
One and one. Falcons Eagles Tonight, I'll lay the points
minus five and a half. Give me the Birds at
the New Vets, which bird exactly.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
So I'll lay the points. I'll take the favorite Monday
Night football. May I improve to two and nine on
the season.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
I think you can get there.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
I think I can.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
I think things are going to change.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
If not one in ten is not a serious hole
to dig out of, I would only have to be
perfect three weeks in a row, which I can clearly do. Ah,
there it is. Thank you, that's what was missing. Kate's Yeah,
that's what was missing.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
You got your beer drinking theme on Instagram, but we've
forgotten to bring it over to the.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
Show exactly we needed the Modello Gardner three pack pop top.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
Don't forget about Shaky's with your Enjoy that with your
with your beverage. Dodgers and Braves first pitch at four twenty,
Yoshi Yamamoto's back on the mound. Dodger fans, get your
game day Milana Shakey's Pizza Parlor what are your shakey' pizza,

you could be enjoying it before the first pitch, and
(16:06):
we'll be right back with your dead and Alive guy
Birthday of the Day and then early Dodgers tonight. Hey,
thanks for listening, everybodys, It's still even though it's hurly.
A modello meets a lot of Monday on the Petrosen
Money Show. Modello it's not a real meets a lot
(16:27):
of it's not made with a modello, A reward for
those with a fighting spirit. Modello the mark of a fighter.
All right, Matt, your dead guy Birthday of the Day. Uh,
you know, I was really tempted to do a Jamaican
guy that invented some kind of drum beat, but this
guy laid down the law.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
Okay, British News, it's time for PMS. British News lighted
Kingdom English News, It's time for British News.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
Cheerio straight gets out, long time British pol politician And yes, Matt,
I chose this guy's name solely for one reason and
one reason only, and that's because of the name Boner Law.
One hundred and sixty six years old today. Yes, boner Law.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
You have a permanent pre apperson.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
Oh, the British politician was youry conservative math. Also known
as the Forgotten Prime Minister. He only served briefly from
October nineteen twenty two to May nineteen twenty three. Only
as Prime Minister did a lot of others. Boner Law
(17:45):
was born in Canada, New Brunswick it was, but this
is not Canadian news because that was when New New
Brunswick was a British province. Still not an aristocrat. Left
school at sixteen to do iron work and he went
to school in Scotland. So he became wealthy and got
(18:05):
elected into the House of Commons. A real self improver
boner Law. Some would say he was a grower, not a.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
Shore See what you're saying there, See what you're doing.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
Married young, he had a bunch of children, but his
wife died early and he never remarried. He was devastating,
and how can you when you're boner Law. Lots of
(18:39):
Conservative Party leadership there in Great Britain. Oh. A couple
of his sons were killed World War One, which made
it even more depressed. He fought hard for terraff reform
and debated guys went toe to toe with guys like
Winston Churchill. You know, just my favorite.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
That's my guy, the Line two part series.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
Like Matt Smith, he was known for his clarity and
common sense.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
Okay, that's me and how can.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
You not be when you name is boner Law? Anyway,
he was involved in all the political issues of those days.
What if there was a guy guy today named boner Law,
I think, get my vote.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
He'd be rather popular.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
I'd like to think my vote would master as red
as my blood for boner.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
Law, a master debater, boner Law.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
Everything that went on back then, boner Law was involved.
Dardanel's Everything Matt. And yes, there is a high school
in Canada named after him. All right, Matt, there you go.
Boner Law Live guy.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
Happy sixtieth to Dave Snake Sabo.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
He is the founder of Yeah he is so. He
and John bon Jovi are best friends. Growing up. He's
raised by his mother, Dorothy, single mom, brothers. They all
love the rock and roll. The metal priest Kiss Sabbath
starts playing guitar at fourteen because his older brother flipped
him his hand me down forty dollars, Sears Roebuck model
(20:20):
and both he and bon Jovi. John bon Jovi at
the same time took lessons from Al Paranello. Sabo was
the original guitarist for bon Jovi, was with the band
when they were shopping their demo Runaway that ended up
being a big hit on the Eastern Seaboard, but he
got booted in favor of freaking Richie Samboro. Were the
lucky ones, right because he and Rachel Borland start a
band they call skid Row. They add guitarist Scottie Hill,
(20:43):
drummer Robafuso. Their frontman was not Sebastian Bach, originally Matt Fallon.
They start gigging. They're crushing it up and down the
East coast. John and He's still close friends. Bon Jovi
convinces the folks over at Atlantic his label to get
him locked up signed to a deal, and boy bon
Jovi didn't steer him wrong. Eighty nine skid Row, Oh Monster,
immediately this one eighteen in life You've gone wild. Of course,
the hair metal power ballot, I remember you. Oh six
(21:07):
million copies just here in the US. Follow up, Slave
to the Grind did another couple million over the next
six years they would sell over twenty million records worldwide.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
But Bach was a real a hole, so he booted Bach.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
He replaced a Fuso, put out records at ninety nine
three oh six. In fifteen he brings in another front man,
yet another, and seventeen. Because you know this summer festival
shows pay a lot of money, so skid Row's gonna
make at least one hundred and fifty k, I would
guess for a summer festival. Twenty two, they put out
their first studio album in sixteen years. It was met with,
(21:41):
as you'd expect, mixed reception, still going strong since eighty six.
Uh Snake, Sabo and skid Row Happy sixtieth Dave.
Speaker 1 (21:53):

on the mound for the Dodgers. Let's hope it goes
well and it can go longer.
