Speaker 3 (00:34):
If not reciprocated, it will flow back and soften and
purify the heart.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Aggy, You're gone, big big one Tonight Galpin Motors Podcast. God,
we could barely take it. Dodgers Padresh, you could cut
it with a knife. Biggest regular season series in years,

(01:00):
maybe a half decade. Dodgers Padres for three begins Tonight,
landon Neck versus Michael King, Tim Kates, David Vassy, their
cast of characters, Dodgers on Decad six. We will do
our best to prove worthy participants as a leading to

(01:20):
that beautiful, massive production that will prepare you for first pitch.
Just after seven, we made an effort to get the
guy Mud on Love Mud the Padres color analyst. That's
on men, and.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
It was unfortunate that he did not get back to us.
But then we went deeper into the Padres broadcast and
pulled out Bob Scandlon, former pitcher nine years Cubs, Brewers, Tigers, Royals,
Astros and expos and he is a Padre guy on
the Padre Bought broadcast too, love Scaling. We had a

(02:05):
little bit of trouble locating Scanlon too, because he felt
as if he needed the Padres permission. You're gonna play
the foosball without by permission, you're Bob Scanling. Well, you
don't need anybody's permission.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Bob, did he get permission? Kates? How did that work out? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (02:18):
Good to go join you guys at three thirties.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
You got him through the pods or do your backdoor it?

Speaker 4 (02:23):
No, he just heat.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
A little bit of a little bit. It's an ffm's right. Uh.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
And then we have David Vass with our Dodger perspective
live at for twenty and Matt'll do a top story
talking about you know, the Panic brothers and come on,
we're going to hell or a huge day. Not exactly sure,
And I'm sure Vic has some kind of agenda that
he wants to How.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Are you gonna watch the game that night? P man,
I know we're gonna. We got about an hour what
hour and ten minutes to get home after we sign off. Yeah,
I was out of it, settled in.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
I was asked by the guy calling play by play tonight,
my old partner and friend, Alex Faust from the King
on the TBS. Yeah, he's calling it tonight on TBS
with Ron Darling. And he asked me if I was
going to be at Dodger Stadium, and I said no.
And that was a point you made, Matt, independent of
being Alex's correspondence. Prior to last season, no one wants

(03:17):
us there any No, before we were told we had
to be there. You cannot take vacation because we've got
to have the Petro some Money show at Dodger Stadium
at least once every homestand and we didn't appreciate that.
But we don't appreciate this. See right, there's got to
be a happy medium between please come to Dodger Stadium
every damn night or don't ever come at all.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Exactly right, every damn knight. I mean they're sending us
to the desert tomorrow. We want to be invited, so
we can decline we'd like to be invited. And then
I had lunch in Chinatown and Alex Faust texted me,
I don't know you're going to be in Chinatown. I
was like, well, god, you know, we should have got
Ron Darling on if that's the case. So we tried
to get Mud on and he did. He ever text

(03:59):
us ghosted me. Is that right?

Speaker 5 (04:02):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (04:02):
See it's changed Harvey Mudd prior Mud prior to the Dodger.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Paranoia, paranoia everybody's coming to get me.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
A Dodger padre rivalry becoming a two way affair as
opposed to just yes, San Diego really hates Tony Gwyn Jr.
Said no, he's on the air right now. That's why
seely g Mud said no, Mud was our friend. He
was with us a multiple times, at least two. And
Bob Scanlon can't do Steve anymore. He's not don in

(04:31):
San Diego anymore. Bob Scanlan said, yes.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
Scalin's a local guy. By the ways.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
Yeah, he went with uh with Mark Harmon. I think no,
I'm just kidding, but might have eighties right. I think
his life story was the life story of stealing Home.
He hooked up with that chick while the mom was
walking around, didn't even know what was going on. Remember
that great scene in Stealing Home.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
I just remember him stealing home. Well, that was the
basis of the movie. Happened, right, Remember most about that
movie was him stealing home.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
You don't remember the virginity scene. That was very impactful
to me, Matt, big sex scene early in life.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
To watch. Yeah, I think you're gonna have to do Yeah,
I really don't. It's been a long time. It's the
cable classic Stealing Home.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
We'll ask Bob about it and the next session. Okay, Vic,
I know you're juiced. Vic, I know you got a
big boner, but we do too.

Speaker 5 (05:26):
AI.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
So you're going home to watch the game, or you're
going back to Chinatown, or you're gonna go to the
Dodger stadium as a fan. Are you gonna go to
a sports bar with a Dodger jersey?

Speaker 6 (05:35):
On?

Speaker 5 (05:35):
Right?

Speaker 2 (05:36):
I have a two way go on my phone to
where I can watch it on my app. Choice. I
got a two way go. AI like to call it
an option route, And what I would like to do
is to go right under that Otani murral and little
Tokyo beautiful mural, the town that Vic built, that that
Steve van Dorin, right, is pal artist guy put together.

(05:58):
And I'm gonna watch it on my phone. No, I'm
going to drive home pick up my son from football. Okay,
but watch it with your son. Look, probably don't. I
will say this. He can watch in the living room, going.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
I'm going downstairs. I will say this, and I'm gonna
say it loud. I'm black and I'm.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
Proud I say, I say. I say.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
We are going to Maroano tomorrow and Tim Kates is
going hours early to outlet shop.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
I think I might have to match that energy.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
I mean, you're trying to match that energy. But you
weren't the first to announce it. Tim Kates stood down
ten toes down and made the announcement. Did he yes
to me on the phone earlier? I mean, but that
was enough, you know, because this is the show.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
How is Matt supposed to know that?

Speaker 6 (06:47):
Well?

Speaker 2 (06:48):
He knows now. I mean I was ready to make
the announcement during the number of the day today it happened.
It happened before I wanted to issue an outlet shopping.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
Channel Tim Kates went Tim toes down before you even
said it, Matt, and he said, I stand on truth.
I'm going outlet shopping in Cabazon. I'm gonna hit the
outlets like a mallet.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
I think we all have to hit the outlets and
show a reward for our efforts. Hey, look look what
I got at the fill in the blank just outlet
store for fourteen bucks. Like who gets the best value
like this? Right? Yeah, you got the Vans outlet. Well,
there's a lot of great options.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
But just parking at the outlets, Matt Gibson, it gives
me an anxiety attack. I'm a Vetanano of Cabazon in
the desert, and I do not like.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
I don't think you are. It's not that bad. It
is not that bad. I've stuck behind a couple buses
full of Asian folks. Yes, don't tell me where I've been.
You can get caught. I'm not doing it. I'm not
going back. You can't make me go. I'm not going
back into rags or in the hole. We're just asking
to do. You're guys to Peyton something. I am participating.

(07:59):
I'm dry big down to Ted and I'm doing the show.
At Marana, not in our outlet, grab Ass. He's ten
toes down and anticipate in our outlet, grab Ass. Okay,
well you got the two big outlets. You got Desert Hills,
the big outlet, the big ass one which is like
bisected by a street, and then you get that one
that looks more like a strip mall. We want the
Cabizon outlets.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
The strip mall one has like all the surf stuff
you like, like the rip curl, the rip curl in
the oak lea. Right, So I don't know where you
guys are going. You go Cabizon Outlets. You've got no
parking concerns. They got new balance. Let me tell me,
tell me I have no parking concerns. With a straight face.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
Every crusade, you can get yourself a nice Dutch oven. Vic.
Have you ever been to the Cabin Have you ever
been to the Cabazon out outlets? Vic? Tell them large
Marge sent you.

Speaker 5 (08:48):
No, I've never been, but I've heard only only positive things.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
Have you never been to Morong though? Vic? All those
stores outside, so you're you're aware of these things?

Speaker 5 (08:58):
Absolutely?

Speaker 2 (08:59):
All right? Well, it's where are you planning on going?

Speaker 4 (09:01):
I think Marongo opened after Vic stopped going out.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
That's not true. Well, first out of Tommy Bahama.

Speaker 4 (09:07):
First off is the Stant Socks outlet shop.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
Okay, where are you going? Because Kate's I'm sorry, that's
in the strip mall. He made a preemptive strike unbeknownst
to me, ten toes down, and he spoke his own truth.

Speaker 4 (09:19):
I don't understand why you don't want to do this.
Petros hit one store, Yeah, one store.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
The money I was going to spend at the outlets.
I got a parking ticket today outside the Little Jewel
what Yeah, sixty three bucks? That sucks. Doesn't mean you
can't buy a nice Dutch of It at the Lake Crusade.
What am I gonna do at Dutch of It? Make
a nice student cornish game? Hens. I'm gonna write this
down Kate's where are you going? Man?

Speaker 4 (09:44):
First off, Kate's Spade. Everything's seventy five percent.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Of Katie Spade. Okay for the ladies, yes, not for you.

Speaker 4 (09:52):
Like a good crossover.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
Kate Spade's still going even though the woman the namesake
killed herself.

Speaker 5 (09:57):
Yes, oh, Kate. Kate's Spade stuff is such high quality.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
That's right, Vick. It is high quality. So that's you
know they got an American Eagle. What get a nice
winter sweater at the American Eagle. You know I don't
want that. I don't know that. You do know that.
I know you want to go to balanc Siaga. I
know that saying they got a bath and body works.
You want some wait, stop does the balance? Iaga have

(10:24):
my spiked s and m caller that I want. Let's
find out you roll in on that shaky stage at
Marongo with a spike collar and guess who's gonna win
the outlet challenge.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
Diesels on field of Doors. Diesel's open till nine.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
So in case I love the show, you can go
out to you can get a nice If I go
to Diesel just to go full ninety three on, you
get some jeans. How about a nice John Travolta model
Brightling watch? They got a Brightling not Brightley's not gonna
do it, Matt. You gotta go. You gotta get it
pretty early in the morning to out outlet me baby
baby close at Carter's. I had been in that one

(11:01):
with my pregnant wife many years ago. You love Clark's.
They got clerks very comfortable. I only get the Jamaican clerks. Well,
I've been foiled. You're done, matt You've got nothing. You've
got nothing to offer me. There's nothing that you can
do to me that Castro is not already daf Endi,
a Fendi bag and a bad attitude. That's all I
need to put me in a good mood. Lululemon, the

(11:22):
Lulu Lemony. No, Oh, Journeys, that's good. I bet they
got score Bay at Journeys. What's that is that? Like that?
Like I think it's like a packed Sunware kind of deal. Journeys.
I thought that was like the boy Scouts magazine. Yeah,
I think it is high Life. High Life is Highlights
as well. But yeah, no, I think you're right with Journeys.
They changed it. It used to be Scout's Life or something
like that.

Speaker 4 (11:45):
You need a sunglasses pea sunglass hut. There's two sunglass huts.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
Oh mcm that sweet hat with the gold plaque in
the middle of it. Okay, you're going to stance Kate's.
Where else are you going?

Speaker 6 (11:55):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (11:56):
Second place is Kate'spade. Then Lululemon.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
Uh so you're going for the girls.

Speaker 4 (12:01):
Well I might go buy the Travis Matthew just to
say hi to the guys. What guys, Travis and Matthew.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
I don't think they're there. They're there. They do person ever, dude,
they do personal fittings.

Speaker 4 (12:11):
I think Travis Matthews right next to true religion fingers
crossed that way you can go shop there.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
Well, you're busy wasting your time.

Speaker 3 (12:17):
Don't try to make don't try to separate yourself from
your true religion. Pass Kates, check this out. Don't think
that that just got by me. When you're used to
rock them true religion with them flap back pockets and
those real white it was seems.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Yeah, hey Kates, Oh, you're busy wasting your time. I'm
gonna be stuck in the EMS one Nevado Oh sweet
designer watch, the all black Nevado watch, backed up with
oh yes, let me sign for that check as I
pull out my mount black pen. Oh yeah, I'm gonna
do that. How you like that? Vic, that's a cool

(12:51):
Where do you work at the pen store?

Speaker 1 (12:54):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (12:54):
Son, I'm gonna hind pen my Porsche designed sunglasses. Yeah,
there's a lot of options here.

Speaker 4 (13:03):
Man, vicking anything while we're out.

Speaker 5 (13:05):
I was just questioning, is there a new balance out there, Yes,
there is. They might have old Tani stuff.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
I hate you. Did he just blow your eyes? He
really did. I mean I thought he was gonna come
with they might have some some old Worthies, you know,
some classic Worthies at the new Balance store.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
I thought he was going to say, like new Balance
worn by old people and right parents donals and yeah,
and instead straight back to Otani. So what are you
expecting from Otani? And this the biggest Dodger series of
the year, vic you win? What are you expecting from Otani?

Speaker 2 (13:41):
Son? Are you gonna do something spectacular?

Speaker 6 (13:46):
Well?

Speaker 5 (13:47):
This is his this is his first taste of high urgency,
and I'm expecting great things from seventeen.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
You who hangs out of a lot of Asian you
know what they're into.

Speaker 5 (14:04):
Effecting the whole lineup to generate the lone of offense
the next three nights.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
Even the white guys, everybody.

Speaker 5 (14:11):
I'm expecting a Luxey to break loose. I'm expecting LuxI.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
Is that a horrible money to stop his funk?

Speaker 5 (14:19):
Big at bats from LuxI and America's catcher Will.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
Smith also in a funk.

Speaker 5 (14:24):
Absolutely time to break out. Podred pitching staff is strong,
but these are These are the at bats you get
paid for. These are money at bats.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
What if they lose tonight, Vic, I think they got
to win tonight. They don't win tonight, I think we
got big problems, big problems on the show. Panic Brothers
forty eight hours straight. We're gonna be gonna be a
war in the streets. Yeah, we're gonna drive to Morongo
with their hair on fire. They lose this ond tonight,
pressure is gonna be too big.

Speaker 5 (14:50):
I'm expecting a very strong start from Land and Neck.
Michael King is no chopped liver, more than a noodle.
It's an excellent matchup on the hill. But landon kna
Is it's gonna pitch a very strong five.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
I think King has the lowest DRA on the team.

Speaker 5 (15:07):
That's fine.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
The moment.

Speaker 5 (15:13):
Is magic. Tonight is the night esther estherche.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
Moment is magic. I'll sign off on that with my
mom blon.

Speaker 5 (15:24):
There you go, I show.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
If you show up with one of those pins, I'm
gonna do you Luke Keysy style. Do you really show
up with one of those Oh excuse me while I
pardon me, Yeah, let me just get out my ink. Well,
Ronnie Foster is not the only one who uses calligraphy
around here.

Speaker 3 (15:42):
So I can see you're excited about the big matchup.
We're excited about American commerce, and you can't entertain us.
We're expected to entertain you and your baseball talk. I mean,
biggest series of the season. We're trying to talk about
Lucky brand jeans. Do they still have the Lucky You patch?

(16:03):
Lucky Yes, you.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
Know, Travis Matthew kind of stole that vibe a little
bit with there. They have a little sign when you
zip your puzzo down too it says proceed with caution,
and the Lucky one says lucky you. You get to
see my poots. I was like that, you know, I
was like, Hey, that turns around on these dirty nineties
chicks and the Diesel say diesel power, yeah, cock, Diesel power,

(16:30):
yeah yeah.

Speaker 4 (16:30):
Vic.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
So we're talking about that's what the gods need to
have tonight. Oh, they got a guess outlet. I'm getting
some guest gens hang out with Kareem. Let's go. Actually
that just pulled me. Yes, Yes, if I could get

Speaker 4 (16:55):
Just just dude, it's a Wednesday afternoon.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
But what if there's like a big turn group in there.
You got one hundred and thirty degrees in the desert.
Be a mailstrom for you guys.

Speaker 4 (17:04):
Come on, Bron, it's gonna be fun.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
Brah bro brod.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
Did you hear Jerry Harriston yesterday, Bron the crap out
of mat?

Speaker 2 (17:12):
Did you hear that?

Speaker 3 (17:13):
Vic?

Speaker 2 (17:13):
Come on? Oh? You like that? You like? You like
me being made a fool?

Speaker 1 (17:19):
No?

Speaker 5 (17:19):
I liked j Hans jay Han's fierceness calling it a
street fight. And he's calling it a street fight, you all.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
I thought it was a good question. Like, hey, short series,
Long series, short sword and Longsword, they wonderful.

Speaker 5 (17:37):
Got to bring it all out tonight. This is I mean,
the first one fifty six for fun DoD just had
great spurts. But tonight and the next couple of nights
you just bring it. You just bring it bliss out
on the blue.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
Blessed step up. I didn't know, I didn't know the
guest was still over. Yes, well that's a horse of
a different color, and you can get some sweet European
tennis at Echo.

Speaker 3 (18:08):

now now you're talking. You know that's a lot of
smoke coming from you, Vic. You know at least I'm
going down to Marongo. I don't I might not want
to stop at the outlets.

Speaker 5 (18:23):
But anyway, it's going to be a tremendous, tremendous remote tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
Thank you, Vic, and good luck tonight. Enjoying the game
and I'll pick you up some up.

Speaker 5 (18:33):
Love it, Brian, you go suck a moto myself. We'll

course watching as well. We'll be Simuel casting. And I'm
feeling good about tonight's game. I'm feeling really good about
the MVP is stepping up. Oh Tani, Mookie, Freddy, let's

(18:53):

Speaker 2 (19:15):
But is there a thirty eight? I mean that's a problem, Matt,
and they don't have the freaking triangle on the back. Well,
what's the point exactly, How's kareem gonna know I'm wearing
How's kareem gonna know I'm wearing Guess jeans? And he
doesn't have the triangle on the ass? Come on, they
ditched the triangle on the ass. Do better, Matt, do better? Yeah,
do better? Okay, son of a bitch. It's not enough

(19:36):
to be winning at the end of the first half. Okay, winning,
you gotta win the second half.

Speaker 4 (19:40):
Hey, Matt, you want to meet up like halfway through
our shopping on, like to borrow and get a slice
of pizza.

Speaker 2 (19:45):
Yeah, after I buy these jeans shorts. Maybe after you
guys eat it, Sparrow, You guys could go into a
stall at Pleasure. Yeah, wait a minute, that's what Brady
at LeVar do at Disney World. I think they're gonna
clip that.

Speaker 4 (20:03):
Don't worry, Pretzel, we'll bring you. We'll bring your retzels.
Pretzel there, Petros.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
What good news is the T shirt has the triangle
on it, so you can get the guest T shirt.
But is it the big stupid triangle like nipple? Nipple?
You tell me is that the big stupid triangle.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
Smaller than I want it? I want nipple, nipple, belly
button triangle. Do you understand, Matt question mark in the middle.
I want the I want the beer Bermuda triangle of
Torso of the eighties, the guest triangle.

Speaker 2 (20:31):

Speaker 3 (21:14):
Popping off in San Diego. They have been hot and
joining us right now to discuss it all. We've been
tracking them all day. Live at Dodger Stadium is Bob
Scandling Padres Radio TV analyst Big League Pitcher, Cubs, Brewers, Tigers, Royals,
Astros and the Spoos. And he's from the eight one

(21:35):
eight back in the eighties alongside Saber Hagen. He went
to Harvard Westlake after Mark Harmon, who starred in Stealing Home. Yes,
you did the greatest movies of all time. Not really,
we watched that game. We can break the Bob knows
that Stealing Home is great, and you're gonna watch it
tonight and you're gonna remember how great it was all

(21:56):
the southern California to you to do the celebrity hotline.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
It is Bob Scale. You remember Stealing Home with old
Mark Harmon, don't you?

Speaker 6 (22:02):
Bob Well, I remember Mark Harmon. I'm not gonna lie.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
I don't go.

Speaker 6 (22:07):
Yeah, Bob, it's not a top ten. I'm just gonna that.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
It is not a great coming of a store. It's terrible.

Speaker 3 (22:17):
You haven't seen it recently, Bob tell us how big
this series is. I mean, people have been riled up
about it from but from the perspective of the Padres
and the Padre fans, Uh, what are we?

Speaker 2 (22:27):
What are we looking at this week?

Speaker 6 (22:29):
Oh? This is this is so fun, isn't it. I
mean this is the series that at the beginning of
the season you look at the schedule and you kind
of peek ahead and you go Wow, Dodgers and Padres
of the final week that who knows, maybe that's going
to be really exciting and interesting and voila, here we are.
It's exciting and interesting. So tons of energy, tons of anticipation, uh,
you know, and a lot on the line. The Padres

(22:50):
are trying to lock in a playoff spot. They should
be able to do that, hopefully in the next day
or two. And you know, the Dodgers still trying to
lock down the division title, and the Padres, even if
they do clinch the playoff spot, it's not live. They
would love to still take this this division from the Dodgers,
and it's still possible at this point. So it's a
big series. The Padres have three of their top pitchers going.
I know there's a ton of excitement on here on

(23:10):
both sides. I've talked to people in both organizations and look,
there's anticipation here right there's energy, there's excitement. I'm out
here at the field watching the Dodgers take a little
bit of infield practice right now, and it's the calm
before the storm.

Speaker 2 (23:22):
Guys.

Speaker 6 (23:22):
It's nice and calm and beautiful out here, but it's
going to be rock us here in a few hours.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
Is this the I know it's you know, prisoner of
the moment, recency biased kind of stuff, but man, since
the All Star break, this does feel like the best
Padre team just on paper at least, and also they're
doing it on the field that we've seen in a
long time. Is this the best Padre team you've seen
in how long?

Speaker 6 (23:42):
Yeah? Yeah, no, I think it's a fair, fair assessment.
And so my answer is yes. And it's not because
you necessarily have the most talent. If you just looked
at all the names on the roster, right, you look
at last year when you've got Josh Haters and you know,
and you know those types of guys and Blake Snell
won and it's a Young Award. Look, there was a

(24:03):
ton of talent on this team this year, but the
way that this roster is put together this year so
much more effective. The closeness that this team has, the
commitment that this group of players has to being a
part of a team and not trying to go after
individual accolades, it's completely different. This is the most complete
Podre roster that I've seen in my twenty years of

(24:24):
covering the team. And it's not just because they're balanced.
But they've got good starting pitching. They be getting great
bullpen work. But it's the way this offense goes about.
It's business also, guys, and also the pieces that Mike
Schild has to go to off the bench. When you've
got David Perrault the type guys, and Donovan Solano's and
you know, a couple of speedsters off the bench that
you can go to, and Tyler Wade and Lockridge. He's
got a lot of pieces. He's been using them in

(24:46):
great fashion, pushing all the right buttons. So you put
it all together, I would say, yes, this is the
most formidable team that the Padres have had in terms
of the entire the strength of the unit and how
it works together.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
To back with mud.

Speaker 3 (24:58):
We got scan Us right now on the Petrusted Money
Show talking about Dodgers Padres big series coming up right
here on your Dodger station six o'clock Marongo Casino, Dodgers
on deck. You know a lot of the talk around
here watching the Dodgers lose a couple of years ago
to the Padres and then in the playoffs to the
Snakes is that the Dodgers don't have edge. You know,

(25:21):
they don't have the anger and the fire. Certainly that's
something that this San Diego team seems to have. Can
you talk about those intangibles? Do you see that with
this Dodger team at all?

Speaker 6 (25:33):
With the Dodger team, you know, look, the Dodgers have
an incredible top part of their lineup right, I mean,
the top four is one of the best in baseball.
But they've had their injury issues and there's no denying it.
What's happened to their starting rotation has certainly been a challenge.
They've had challenge in the bullpen, and some of those
things are revealing themselves here down the stretch. I'm not
in that Dodgers clubhouse. I can't speak to what kind

(25:54):
of fire that they have. I know, as an opposing team,
when we would go up against the Dodgers and you
had somebody like Justin Turner in that clubhouse, I knew
that they had a leader in that clubhouse. I knew
that they had a straw that was during the drink.
That was the guy that I felt like was the intangible.
Right now, again, I'm not I'm not a part of
the Dodge organization. I'm not in that clubhouse. I don't

(26:15):
see what goes on on a daily basis. They have
some great players with you know Freeman and that's and no'cannie.
I don't know who that the leader is over there.
Maybe you guys have a better sense of who that is.
I can't test, you know, the internal uh spire that
a certain team has. I can only speak of what i've.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
Seen that clubhouse else going on.

Speaker 6 (26:36):
All right, I'll try to get some information for you guys,
but look, it's just the Dodgers always formidable right now.
Whether they they have that internal fire, that's something for
those guys to decide. I can only speak to what
I see with the Padres and how they've got thirty
seven come from mind victories, They've got ten walk off victories.
This is a team that that's what's defined them is
their fire, is their guts.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
That is what the people are worried about here the
people at opposite. Where's the fire, Where's the emotion, where's
the well it is? It is interesting because you go
back two years when the Dodgers lost in the Division
a round of the Padres in four games, and everything
that was said was the Padres they're emotionally unstable. They
get too worked up for these games against the Dodgers.

(27:16):
That's why they lost fourteen to twenty in the regular
season and then bang the Dodgers lose in the playoffs.
How important just speaking to what the Padres have going,
how important is that for their success? Do they at
times maybe get a little too emotional or is that
part of kind of the secret sauce of what works
for them?

Speaker 6 (27:33):
No, I think that that's a fair assessment of work
against them previously. Right, So for several years we saw
where it would be a close game right until the fifth,
the sixth, the seventh inning, and you almost got the
sense that the Dodgers were just doing their thing and
they were just sitting there waiting for the Podres to implode.
Right it was like, they're going to do something. There's
going to be a base running blunder, there's going to
be an air, there's going to be something that happened.

(27:54):
As soon as that little crack in the door was there,
the Dodgers would kick it in. And we saw that
for several years, and that all got changed in the
playoffs in twenty two and that NLDS where the Padres
I think finally realized, look We don't have to go
above them, be out. We don't have to try to
be something that we're not. We don't have to try
that stra hard to beat these guys. We have what
it takes. As soon as you start playing within yourself, boom,

(28:17):
you stop making those mistakes. And I think that was huge.
I'm not gonna lie. I think that that winning that
NLDS versus the Dodgers sort of broke some of that spell,
some of that bad mojo and exercise some of those
demons that existed for this Padre team. And since then
it's just been like, no, we don't have to do more,
just be ourselves. And I think that's the thing that's
going to be so fun to watch in this series

(28:38):
is that the Padres have done that all season long
and they don't have to do anything different to beat
the Dodgers in this series. All they have to do
is continue to be the same team that they've been
all season. Do the little things move the runners, play
solid defense, get solid pitching out of your starters, and
hand it over to this lockdown bullpen. And I think
this team understands that they don't have to do anything more.
But I think you're right to your point. Previously, I

(29:00):
think there was some of that going on, but I
think a lot of that is behind them now.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
I mean there's there's no doubt Bob that on paper,
the pitching, the starting pitching matchups not even close. I
mean you can even argue the bullpen as well to
some degree, but just the lineup maybe where the Dodgers
have the edge as a pitcher. What do you see
when you look, especially you know that top four and
even months he's been hitting the ball really well, Edmunds.
Come on, I mean you could kind of have a

(29:23):
one through six that if you go by, you know,
the last week and a half has really been formidable.
What kind of challenge does that present too? Starters that
are even playing and throwing as well as the Padres
have in this series.

Speaker 6 (29:35):
Yeah, there's no doubt, like the Dodger top four is
as formidable as anybody right now, and especially with them
tying keep and tie out, he's been unbelievable. But that
being said, and this has been an issue for the
Dodger lineup fall season long. The bottom part has just
not been as productive as the top part, and early
in the season it was a non factor at all.
It was almost like they were basically guaranteed outs for

(29:57):
the first part of the season. That's changed. Bottom part
of their one up is tougher than it used to be.
That being said, I think the difference is going to
be it's gonna be incumbent on this Padre staff to
make sure that they still do lockdown those outs late, right,
because as soon as you don't, if you've got the six, seven,
eight nine guys getting on to set the table for
the o'conne's, the Best of three men's and the Oscars,
you're gonna have problems. Right. Those big guys are gonna

(30:19):
do their damage. You just got to try to keep
that damage to a minimum. So, uh, the key is
going to be controlling the bottom part of that lineup
for the Dodgers and making sure that they're not setting
the table for the guys that can really do the
big damage.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
All right.

Speaker 3 (30:30):
Uh, are you gonna get in a fight with David
Vase or anything like that? I mean, what kind of
mindset are you in? Are you are you ready to fight?

Speaker 2 (30:37):
You know?

Speaker 3 (30:38):
I mean, we this has got this has got some
real vitriol in it there, scan We we want some
guys all.

Speaker 6 (30:44):
The way down to the field reporters. Right, Like, here's
sitting Dave and we're all, yeah, shuts down right. We
got the brass.

Speaker 2 (30:50):
Knuckles, Dave, don't protect us.

Speaker 6 (30:52):
Ron Burgundy, were all the all the media guys that
are fighting right and get ugly down there. Yeah, exactly,
mess with those guys. Look, it's gonna be fun. Everybody's
ready to have some fun out here. It's going to
be intense, and that's what you want, right, This is
what September Baseball is supposed to be all about. You've
got two very good teams that are going to go

(31:14):
head to head. They have a lot of history. There's
gonna be a lot of energy in the series and
I can't wait. Just let's get it on. Let's get
after it.

Speaker 2 (31:21):
How much different last one for you? For me? Bob?
How much different do you feel about the padres chances
to make the World Series if they have to go
the wildcard route versus the winning the division route? Does
that change for you at all? How you feel about it? No?

Speaker 6 (31:35):
I don't think it matters at all, because look, this team.
You know, you talk about teams that are built for
postseason and everything. I think what's unique about this Padre's
ball club not just built for postseason in terms of
having some big names in the starting rotation that are
getting the job done at this point and having a
lockdown both in but they're built for late and close
games that are late games that are close. This is

(31:56):
what the Padres have excelled at all season long, and
the way that they go about scoring is not dependent
on a bunch of big street swingers that are going
to get shut down by tough postseason pitching. This is
a team that understands how to get base hits, how
to move guys over. It's the type of offense that
plays well in postseason against the best type of pitching
as well. So I think they're supremely wind up better

(32:18):
than any previous Pottery team that I've seen to go
deep into the playoffs. And you look at it, there's
really no stumbling block to say, oh, yeah, that works
in the regular season, but come postseason they're gonna have
to do something different. No, no, no, no no, this
pottery team just keep doing what you've done all season
long because it plays in the postseason as well.

Speaker 3 (32:35):
All Right, there it goes supremely delivered by Bob Scanlon.
Have a great show tonight, Bob, and thank you so
much for taking some time and doing it. You tell
Mud you're our new guy.

Speaker 6 (32:45):
Guys. MUD's always the guys shut out. Yeah, I'm happy.
Oh MUD's that all right? I'll let them know. But
you guys are the best, great talking ball to here.
Let's have some fun this series.

Speaker 2 (32:55):
Absolutely appreciate you, Bob. Thank you. Punch Dave right in
the gut just like aalt.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
Hey Oswalt, David Vassable Jonas for the next hour, Scanling, God,
I hate hearing it.

Speaker 2 (33:15):
So supremely excited, confident. They're all riled. Hey, we don't
have to do anything special to beat these Dodgers. We
just got to be ourselves. We just got to be
the dads. That's all we gotta do. Just be us. Hey, man,
it's an enough just being yourself. Cools Nerds my side,
on your side. Man, it's all bs. It's todd enough
just to be yourself. How am I not myself? Petrosen

(33:39):
money continues next Big Thanking about Scanlon Huge Series starts
tonight at Dodger Stadium. Three for the division Dodgers win two.
It's over. Their magic number is four. That is a

(34:00):
combined four wins by the Dodgers or losses by the Padres,
so each of these count is two. David Vassi will
join us next hour from the stadium give us the
Dodger perspective. We got an update that Daniel Jeremiah Padre
superfan and your partner on the Charger game. Very volatile
time for the Chargers and the Dodgers and the Padres
and Matt and Daniel, very delicate time on the chargersdcast

(34:24):
broadcast for the VA the B the voice of the
Bolts of the B. Thanks Nelson, you are the VA
the B.

Speaker 3 (34:33):
And Daniel Jeremiah is the ringleader of the Padre Tormentors.
He really is, and he really I don't want to
say that he gets Matt's goat.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
But he tries. He's needily. He's very neatlier than the
neatly knows of Demi more yes, and he he has
you are on this text chain.

Speaker 3 (34:54):
He has confirmed. Now Daniel Jeremiah did chime in that
Bob Scam Inland would kill Dave.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
He did that.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
He's six foot seven and it was a three round
maximum scandaling with that reach. And then Kate's found and
seized the opportunity to book Daniel Jeremiah, who is very
elusive for a friend of the show. Yes, overly elusive.
In my opinion, I would agree three point thirty Pacific
time Thursday, Crunchy Groove Thursday. Padres could be up two games,

(35:26):
it could be split, Dodgers could be up to I
believe those are all the.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
Possibilities, all the possibilities when he comes on three thirty Thursday.
Here's the best part about this. This is what a
complete psycho he is when it comes to the Padres
as it brings out the worst thing you As it stands.
Right now, DJ is probably in Arizona. He is driving home.

(35:55):
He had to drive his daughter's vehicle home from Birmingham,
so he went from Pittsburgh to Birmingham to pay Cupper
Car to drive it home. Beautiful. So he is listening
to Petros and Money on the iHeartRadio a streaming it
live to monitor the Dodger Padre conversation. He's not in
the geo fence. How's he gonna get the broadcast exactly? Well,
he'll figure it out. Do we have a special force

(36:16):
his wife to hold the phone up to the radio
speaker so he can hear what's going on. If you
can't access it, can we.

Speaker 3 (36:22):
Get him some kind of cheat code on the road
out there so Jeremiah could listen to Tim Neverett.

Speaker 2 (36:28):
Oh, no doubt, he wants that feed have a coronary.
So yeah, DJ monitoring the Dodger padre talk via the iHeartRadio. Remember,
if you cannot get us on the AM band, you
can get us anywhere in the world. Driving through Arizona anywhere.
Started in Las Crusis, I get Now you're in Arizona
making your way to Coronado. I get all.

Speaker 3 (36:49):
I spent the night and lost Crusis jail. I get
a lot of different photos of all over Europe every
morning from different listeners, and I enjoy that because I
don't get out much. Many people are international and national
listeners that are not native to Southern I.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
Just hope you got us some blue topaz jewelry. You
know I love some. Just stop at one of those
roadside spots and get us a little something. Hey there,
so Dona, let me cut you a deal, all right, Matt,
This text says, a fine brought to you by your
so called Toyota dealers. We make it easy.

Speaker 3 (37:22):
Kates is a hic, so at the outlets he'll be
buying an oiled duster and some dark brown ugs.

Speaker 2 (37:29):
They do have the Uggs outlet. It looks like Kate's
is just in it for the girls, Lululemon, Katie Spade.

Speaker 4 (37:36):
They've put their orders in.

Speaker 2 (37:37):
Yes, oh really yeah, Hey, don't get anything for yourself,
typically not, Hey, save all this money for the exploitative
slot machine.

Speaker 3 (37:48):
I love the exploitative slots. Hey, Pee, are you hoping
to turn into a Mexican guy in a raider jersey
at Morongo or a hot Asian? Bring a condom and
a sponge just in case. I don't know what I'm
on a morph into, but I hope it doesn't happen
mid coitus. I hope I'm morphed to Tim Conway junior. Hey,
ding dong here, I am doing a show at Morano.

Speaker 5 (38:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (38:11):
There may be no room for you guys in Dodger Stadium,
but there's plenty of room for you guys a lot
h for a UCLA game. Maybe that's what we're doing wrong.
Maybe we need to just pay attention to another team
like UCLA. We'd be trying to party. I don't want
to say anything about him and they beat us because
that'll be bad, bad, Yeah, and they are in LA

(38:35):
by the.

Speaker 3 (38:35):
Time you guys talked to Daniel Jeremiah, there'll be some
good Magic Johnson tweets about the series.

Speaker 2 (38:41):
Very true, very true. I don't know magic.

Speaker 4 (38:46):
It was on last night Twitter just going off about
Jalen Daniels.

Speaker 2 (38:50):
How ex I remember he's a part owner of the Commanders.
I know, but there was a big question how long
Jane Daniels on Prime Time and oh really put on
a show? What did he say? Jaden Daniels plate great,
he played winning football at the quarterback position, which is
the most important trait of a quarterback. And the Bill
Shaken tweet is true. As about the dirt, Yeah, speaking

(39:14):
of Tim Conway Junior, this is a story for.

Speaker 3 (39:16):
Hey, come on to talk about the dirt, big Dog.
Dodger Stadium is selling home plate dirt the ground that
Toddy stood on for his at bat for the twenty
twenty four season.

Speaker 2 (39:33):
Where would one display that. I don't know, like if
you buy it, I know you're not buying it thinking
at Dodger Stadium that it's an investment, Like, Hey, I'm
gonna buy this for one hundred and fifty bucks. It's
at Dodger Stadium, but it looks like they just printed
out the sign to the office. But they're at Dodger Statem.
They only got three games left. They're all sold out, Like,
I don't know how much money they need to make.

(39:53):
Like I get it, we work with the Dodgers, but
I mean, they did pay him seven hundred million bucks. Yeah,
but you're what's next? So we're gonna sell the air.
This air was a meter outside of Toddi's head, and
now we put it in a jar and it's for sale.
Like this is like, I mean, I guess we're the dirt.
If somebody wants to buy the dirt, we'll sell you
the dirt. I just want to know who wants to

(40:14):
buy the dirt, how you want to sell it, sell it.
I got no problem with that. I just want to
know who's gonna buy it, and what is the thought
process behind I'm gonna buy this dirt? Are you watching
a year? It's gonna be worth twice this month. I
don't know why you're even asking me this. The thought
process is the same that we saw in the last
couple of World Series at Dodger stadiums, the grabbing hands,

(40:36):
grab all they can, all for themselves after all, that's
all of it. Yes, Matt, you ask where would one
put a jar dirt? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (40:45):
Easy, right next to my piece of the Berlin wall
in my office.

Speaker 2 (40:48):
Nice look at that, humble brag. Hey, it's a big moment.
Tear down this wall now, Florida State. I thought I
had a piece of the Berlin wall when I us
in Berlin, and I was like, check it out, and
they're like, yeah, that's that's not where the Berlin wall was.
It was over there.

Speaker 3 (41:04):
That's a warehouse, son of a bitch. That's a pickle warehouse,
you idiot.

Speaker 2 (41:08):
I think I still have it too.

Speaker 3 (41:10):
Oh good, put it up next to kasesre. It is
contrast and compare. But it is kind of weird, you know.

Speaker 2 (41:18):
I agree, it's weird, especially with the signage that looks
like it's being sold out of the back of a
Toyota Celica. Yeah, it's the Watts Swap Meet. And I
don't think it's a jar cats. I think you're getting
so little dirt. If I am to understand the story
I read, it's more like a vial. They call it
a disc. So I think it's almost like a Petrie

(41:39):
dish wow of dirt.

Speaker 3 (41:40):
Well, here's the deal, like Florida State, Okay, back when
they were bass, Yeah, they used to beat people. And
if they beat people on the road, like let's say,
went to Georgia, tack or something, or they did it
at the coliseum. They beat us in ninety seven, and
they take some of your grass, they bring them back
to tallahass and they ariat in their graveyard. But you

(42:04):
can't bury the Otani dirt. It's not going to grow
another thought you were going to say. And then they
sell plots of land. They have a graveyard and like
that's you know, all these road games we've won over
the years. It was a Bobby Bowden thing.

Speaker 2 (42:17):
Yeah, the dirt is not gonna sprout green shoots, and
then it's not going to like you're going to grow
grow like a decument. SUI Like it's not. Oh God, still,
that'd be sweet.

Speaker 3 (42:31):
We'll be right back. I just the Dodgers are class
the organization. We have to sell everything.

Speaker 2 (42:41):
Yeah, yes we do. Because well if we do that,
then how about a Greek night package guys? Okay, hey,
how about the Jewish Knight Okay they used to have.
Bring that back to.

Speaker 3 (42:52):
You know what, do it in the same night. The
Greeks and the Jews get along great, and it's blue
and white all around. Everybody wins. We'll be right back.
They love our We'll be right back with more great
