Time for the Word of the day.
Speaker 4 (03:21):
With his words, the word of the day.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
A lot of heavy hearts for people that love the
East Bay today. Today is the final day of the
Oakland A's final game ever at the Coliseum, and the
A's are moving to Sacramento and then Las Vegas, and
they're taking their play by play lady with him sellout
crowd at the Oakland Alameda County Coliseum in what is
(03:48):
the four thousand, four hundred and ninety third game there
last night. I'm sure you saw the videos of fans
unbolting seats from the stands and carrying them out, others
being eaten by feral cats. Members of what excuse me.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
We lost somebody to a feral cat?
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Yeah, at least three. Well, you never really know because
they don't report missing people in Oakland. You know it's different, right,
Members of the grounds crew filling up bottles of dirt
for the fans, which is not unlike the Otani dirt,
but not for sale today being the final game ever
in Oakland, you know what they had to do. They
(04:29):
had to get somebody big for the national anthem att.
Speaker 4 (04:32):
Oh, there's only one direction you can go for that.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Now, you'd think maybe too short or drew down or
E forty. But no Sea Hammer, third Eye, blind green Day,
But no, no, and no. They turned to former USC

Speaker 3 (06:40):

Speaker 4 (06:45):
Beautiful way to go zero and you gotta let that
thing run out. You can't clip it.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
We like to clip it right there is what we
want to do. Oh yeah, every time.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
I thought he was tempted to say in the home
of the A's, but he would not disparage our name.
Speaker 8 (06:59):
No not Zeno.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Yes, well, when asked that uh, when asked by ownership
or by the media about ownership moving the team uh
to Sacramento, Zito said, I what thing to say? Man's
gotta do.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
What some.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Gotta do, what you gotta do.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
A man's gotta do what a man.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
Let's be honest, don't WoT has become a terrible city
to do businesses? It has The ownership may be terrible,
and yes they are, but the city is also terrible. Okay,
number the day, here's my number. Number of the day.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
Number the day is. Let's see one, two, three, four
four here in my neighborhood. Got a friend Kenny, and
Kenny's got an aunt. She said hello to us in
Irvine and was there with our friend Don Wagner when
the supervisor came by, and hearing that the Petros and
(08:21):
Money Show is going to be hitting the streets for
our Bjay's football tour, yet again, asked if we would
be interested. I don't think she's put the requests in yet.
She's waiting for us to say, Hey, let's ask for
this guy and that gal and this guy and that
guess something like that, and then we'll find out maybe
(08:41):
tomorrow whether or not we can slot them all in. Well.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
I do love local politic wars during our Bjay's time.
Speaker 4 (08:52):
I think we've we've kind of established ourselves as the
sports talk radio Monday night slash Thursday night show of record,
as a platform for local politicians to well to perform
their platforms, if you will, for all the folks listening
(09:12):
and there in per We love it.
Speaker 8 (09:14):
We do.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
We love local problems, and it's the best way to
make bjs, which is a chain and they pretty much
all are like the other one. It's a great way
to localize where we are, that's right, and to get
to the issues of the locality. Like in Torrance, we
learned that the city doesn't get to run the street
lights on Hawthorne, which are confounding. It's run by the
(09:35):
CHP and that's why they suck.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
That's exactly right. And we learned about the Honda prelude
for a moment there too.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
Yeah, and we learned in the city of Orange that
the animal shelter across the street was closed.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
That's a true story. Our options Don Wagner. We love Wagner,
so that's a yes.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
Because he took it to Farah Kahan, he blew her
right out of the race. Now this I don't think
Farah Kahn is gone. Well Farah Khan. There is an
Irvine mayoral race, and we have been offered one of
the candidates, Tammy Kim, who is a current city council person.
But I noticed there are five people running for mayor
(10:16):
and I was like, eh, we're a little more fair
and balanced. I think if we open the platform to
to Tammy Kim. We may run into a bit of
a problem when it comes to Larry Agrin, Akshat, Batilla
Wing Chow, Felipe Delgado, Ron Scosal Dong Oh, I'm sorry,
(10:40):
run Skull is dang and Lee's son. So I think
Tammy's like an, let's not do that. You got six
people running here, seven, We don't want to just do one.
And then we've been offered potentially two mayors Newport Beach,
Will O'Neill, Costa Mesa, John Steve.
Speaker 7 (11:00):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
I like Will O'Neill.
Speaker 4 (11:02):
Okay, what about Stevens. If O'Neill can't go, you're feeling
about Coast to Masa got South Coast Plaza, You got
o c c.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
He's gonna got a lot of action out there in
cos he's gonna tout Raiders camp.
Speaker 4 (11:15):
Nah, that's gone, never to return, never to return.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
It's not gonna like that attitude.
Speaker 4 (11:21):
Well, hey, John, do you want a platform or not?
What do you think?
Speaker 2 (11:26):
I mean? Where? What what are we leaving for? I
like Will, I think.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
Wagner's Will Lock. I think well, I love Don.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
I like Will O'Neill too, But I'll take Coast to
mesa as a as a bronze.
Speaker 4 (11:37):
All right, so we'll go one Wags, two O'Neill, three
Stevens Tammy. We love you, we think, but you're out.
Can't I mean you can't have a seven seven person
mayoral race and bring one of the candidates on, right,
I mean you know what kind of sway?
Speaker 2 (11:54):
Well, because then we're stock. We have to we legally
have to interview the other six, right, So.
Speaker 4 (12:01):
Can't do that. But Wagner, Yeah, no doubt.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
All right, we got a good plan, good plant. This
is the song of the day.
Speaker 9 (12:15):
Roadhouse Blues is our song of the day from legendary
Crunchy La Ban the doors because the Petros and Money

see him on MLB Network, Spectrum Sports Net, but he's
(14:06):
our guy on the radio, and he brings the best
Dodger coverage embedded with the team, available on your Southern
California Southern California Toyota Dealers Celebrity Hotline. It is David Vasse.
What's cracking, Dave? How's it going over there today?
Speaker 1 (14:23):
Oh?
Speaker 8 (14:23):
It's going great, guys. Just downloading the latest episode of
Bad Monkey for the trip to Denver tonight, one of
my favorite news series out there.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
With Vince Vaughn going to Andros Bahamas and the Tom
Petty soundtrack. Yeah, fabulous, Dave. It is a good show, Dave,
top to bottom. A very exciting night last night. But
what you said in the twitter about Otani's hunger carrying
the rest of the team speak on that, Dave, because
(14:55):
Otani's hunger is insatiable.
Speaker 8 (14:57):
Well, it's incredible. Really, I know you've talked about it.
I've talked about it. Fans have talked about it and
yearned for the emotion from a Dodger player that we
are getting from the best player on the team in show. Hey, Otani,
not only is he carrying the Dodgers like he did
last night, but he's also trying to rally the troops
(15:19):
in that dugout to really get some energy going and
to really inspire them. There's a lot of guys in
that dugout that have won World Series, multiple World championships.
There's guys in that dugout that have won MVPs like Otani,
multiple division championships. But this is the first time he
has an opportunity to win the NL West and the
(15:41):
first time he has an opportunity to participate in the postseason.
So you see that hunger within Otani and the emotion
that he shows with the Dodgers after two separate go
ahead base hits last night is inspiring to everybody else where.
It should be in that dugout.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
Dave, what do you think is going to happen if
this keeps up? I mean the number it can't right.
The laws of averages in baseball say, there's no possible way.
He continues on this sort of tear. Are they going
to start pitching around him? Could you just see a
world especially considering how Mooki has struggled in this series,
where tonight Joe Muskrove and Mike Schiltz just say no whatever,
(16:20):
We'll just put you on bass. Barry Bond style and
you're not swinging the bat tonight.
Speaker 8 (16:23):
Well, the only situations they would do that in is
in the late innings because Otani is not like Barry Bonds.
Barry Bonds would take his walks talking to Ron Darling
about it and others around the game. That's the biggest
separator between Bonds and Otani. Otani wants to swing the bat.
(16:43):
He wants to get hits. Barry Bonds would get one
pitch per at bat and if you made a mistake,
he would make you pay for it. But other than that,
in his sensational enhanced seasons with the Giants, he would
only get one pitch per at that and he would
take his walk. The one thing that Dave Roberts has
said now publicly is he is going to encourage Otani
(17:07):
to take his walks if teams in the postseason especially
are not giving him anything to hit and really pass
the button. The Mookie Bets and Freddie Freeman. He has
never had those two type of hitters hitting behind him
in his career, and he's got to trust them and
not give the opponent easy outs by him chasing that
(17:28):
pitches outside of the strike zone.
Speaker 4 (17:30):
Dave just In terms of the motivation the emotion last night,
and look, it would be kind of hypocritical. I guess
they jumped to it at a freaking pool, for God's sakes.
But did they take any offense to the way the
Padres celebrated on the field and took the photo outside
their dugout and that sort of thing. Did that upset
them at all?
Speaker 8 (17:49):
No, I'm not even sure they were aware of it.
I know some of the front office staff was looking
at some video of the Padres celebrating, but nobody expressed
any displeasure with the Padres taking a team photo respectfully
on the field after they clinched the postseason birth. So
(18:09):
I just think, like you saw Xander Bogart's after he
drove in a run or get a base hit last night,
screaming into his dugout. I think the Dodgers got a
wake up call after the first game of this series
that they are going to have to play with more
urgency and rise to the level of the Padres to
beat them. And again last night, we didn't see that
(18:31):
until later in the game and Otani and Tommy Edmonds
sparked it in the fourth inning, and Otani again to
the rescue in the sixth inning, So it really was
about Otani and Tommy edmund I know, talking to scouts
that were here last night, a few of them text
me that they believe Tommy Edmunds two out double to
start that rally in the fourth inning may have saved
(18:52):
the Dodgers' chances to win the NLS.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
The One and Only David Bassey at the Real Underscore
DV joining us on the Petros and Money Show, Dave
Mookie Bats not not performing great, freaking people out thinking
about last year's postseason. Doing a podcast today with Fernando Tatisa, Huh,
what do you expect from Mookie Bats in this situation?
(19:17):
Do you think he's going to be able to turn
it around? It almost feels like he doesn't appreciate the
pressure like he used to, And in fact, I heard
him say that in an interview.
Speaker 8 (19:26):
Yeah, it feels like MOOKI was as flat in that
interview with Tattoos as he has been in the first
two games of this series. I did dabble a little
bit when I was doing personal business, and I was
not impressed anyway. Anyway, as far as I was doing
(19:47):
the David Aldridge and I wasn't impressed, but the old
DA anyway, Yeah, you know, I think Mookie just needs
to not put as much pressure on himself and just
go out there and be the guy we've seen all
season long. He's not going to be able to make
up for whatever happened the last two postseasons and one
at that. But they just need MOOKI to remind himself.
(20:10):
As teammates have told me, he needs reminding from time
to time that you are freaking Mookie Betts. You're one
of the best players in baseball. And as humble as
he is, sometimes that works against him because he forgets
how good he is and who he is, and sometimes
he needs a reminder. So hopefully somebody in that clubhouse
is reminding Mookie Betts who he is.
Speaker 4 (20:33):
I expect this to be met with a great derision
and a shotgun blast of insults in my direction, Dave.
But yesterday I made the case that maybe the Dodgers
are better off just getting into the wild cards so
they can win a freaking playoff series. They have won
one playoff series or had one good run since twenty
(20:54):
nineteen in the playoffs. Otherwise they've gotten booted in the
first round. Every year sitting around for a week waiting
for the division.
Speaker 8 (21:00):
What do you mean they won the World Series in
twenty twenty.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
That's what I said. That's the one year twenty two trash,
twenty three trash, nineteen Nationals trash. You know what I mean? Like, Hey,
Otani's hot, Let's carry this momentum, get a couple games
at Dodger Stadium, win the wild card. I'll make that
bay carry some momentum into the divisional round instead of
sitting around for a week and have an Otani's back
(21:23):
cool off. However, do you think they would inflict some
mental damage if, in fact, the Padres have a chance
to win the NL West for the first time since
two thousand and six and the Dodgers deny that opportunity
to them at Dodger Stadium tonight.
Speaker 8 (21:37):
I don't know what you were trying to say or
what you were getting at, but I appreciate it. I
believe the Dodgers would benefit quite considerably with five days
off this time around. This new playoff format has been
around now for three years, going back two seasons which
you were referring to, And yeah, I would say in
those previous two years it worked against the Dodgers, but
(22:00):
considering how thin their pitching is and how if they
did play in a wildcard series, Matt, they would not
have the highest page starting pitcher in baseball history available
for any of the first two games of that wildcard
series because they lined them up to start game one
of an NLDS. So they need the five days off
(22:20):
for that reason and to really organize their pitching and
get some guys that are hurting, UH some extra time
to see whether or not they can get themselves together physically.
And now you can add Miguel Rojas to that list
because he's not going to play until possibly Sunday after
leaving last night's game with a left groin injury.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
What's going on?
Speaker 8 (22:42):
I don't see how to eye with you on that.
Speaker 4 (22:44):
Oh, that's a very respectful answer, and I appreciate the
way it was delivered. Thank you.
Speaker 8 (22:52):
Would not have delivered it that way.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
No, Bro, wouldn't.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
Bro's what's up with that?
Speaker 4 (22:58):
Bro?
Speaker 2 (22:59):
What's up the growing?
Speaker 8 (23:01):
Well, he's been dealing with it for three weeks, so
he's been managing it. And he got the brakes put
on him at third base and he tweaked it a
little bit. He's going to have an MRI and probably
a quarterzone injection to get the inflammation out, and the
Dodgers are hopeful that he that Miguel Rojas can play
in the regular season finale on Sunday at Corsefield. I
(23:24):
personally believe that's a long shot, considering injuries don't seem
to get better at Corsefield in the high altitude, they
only get amplified. And that goes back to the Dodgers
getting five days off. You rest Rojas until Game one
of the NLDS and practice bunting with him.
Speaker 4 (23:44):
Yeah, exactly, and keep the bunch sign on. Last thing
for me, Dave, now asking for you to interpret the
words of others as you have been around them well
their entire Dodger career. What you described at the onset
about show Hayes emotion and trying to get these guys
to get up a little bit more and show a
(24:05):
little bit more energy in the dugout, in the at bats,
about the postseason being on the cusppier and winning the division.
Do you see what Max Munsey said, is he like
uncomfortable maybe calling out some of the other guys on
the team for being a little too flat lined because
he really kind of leaned into it, like, you know,
look at what Otani's doing out there, the way he's
firing us up. It's good to see it, and we
(24:26):
need some of that. Felt like Munsey's been wanting to
say something like that for a while, but maybe he
just doesn't feel comfortable enough to do it with guys
like Freeman and Betts, you know, leading the clubhouse.
Speaker 8 (24:36):
And also for a guy that missed a majority of
the season with a side that was messed up and
needed some chiropractic help to get back on the field.
But I will say this, Max Munsey does bring a
lot of edge, and it feels like he's hinting at
what I was trying to stress when I filled in
for you. Matt and Eric Carros took exception with it.
(24:58):
The Dodgers need to stop being so they are too
nice of a team, and I believe that's what Munsey
was referring to. Maybe the most respectful player in Major
League Baseball today, Shohyo Tani showing that fire, showing that emotion,
showing that edge, and maybe now the most respectful player
on the field is giving the Dodgers the green light
(25:21):
to maybe not be so nice moving forward. I think
that's what and I believe that's what Munsey was hinting at.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
You've got the green light. Well, thank you, Dave, You're
the best. Have a great night, and good luck to
the Yoyo. I believe Walk.
Speaker 8 (25:38):
I think this is full circle the baseball gods. It's
lined up perfectly for one of the best big game
pitchers in the last ten years to be on the
mounta tonight in a clinching situation. I would imagine Walker
Bueller is going to be up for this performance. And
I believe I'm going to have to fly from La
(25:59):
to Denver soaked and champagne and then dry turn into
dried champagne in my hair and my faith and whoever's
seen next.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
To me, buggie, my god, I hope, so, my god,
Thank you, Dave.
Speaker 8 (26:12):
Have a great night out from Montreal, my man.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
Yeah, good luck, Thank you everybody. We'll be right back
with a little bit more news regard to the Doier
and the excitement of the way the Doyers are playing.
Speaker 3 (26:26):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (26:26):
And then we've got quick hits, three things Thursday, Dead
and Alive, straight to your heart like a cannonball. Dodgers
and Padres Moronggo Casino Dodgers on Deck starts at six.
Speaker 8 (26:50):

Speaker 2 (27:27):
Who's right on the border at Tustin. We'll be right there.
Should we get to Sean Foster on or would that
be bad?
Speaker 4 (27:33):
Well, it depends what do you want to say about him,
because then if he wins, be bad?
Speaker 2 (27:38):
Should I pick UCLA to beat Oregon? U CLA burned
me last week? LSU didn't cover for sure.
Speaker 4 (27:43):
Yeah, they see that was bad for you because you
said something about him and I yeah, you're right, And
they won against the number, and that was bad for you.
It goes against your record. It was bad he didn't
lose by twenty six.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
How you like that? Huh you idiot? Well, Matt, we're
baseball heavy for a reason today and that still goes
with the minor sports stories.
Speaker 8 (28:03):
Minor sports stories for great sports talk.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
Uh Dinard Span, Yes.
Speaker 2 (28:17):
Do the right thing is what I say. The right thing,
Matt is to be a material girl. And a material
girl would do what Matt.
Speaker 4 (28:26):
She would live in the material world.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
That's right. She would catch an Otani home run ball
and leave the stadium in a full sprint. The show
Aotani fifty to fifty ball that the fan in Florida
was smart enough to walk out with and not exchange
with the Dodgers for a signed Josh Bimel bobblehead is
going up for sale at the end of this week, Matt,
(28:49):
like tomorrow. Oh, here's a sign bat from Bible.
Speaker 4 (28:53):
Thank you. Is that the guy that cut his hand
with it?
Speaker 2 (28:56):
Yeah? That's yeah guy? All right. The ball's going up
in an armtion house at Ken Golden's auction house, starting
bid the end of the week, probably tomorrow. Five hundred
thousand dollars.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
Yeah, I think they'll get it.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
Now, a guy named Max Max Matus is suing the
guy who owns the ball, Chris Bolanski Blanski. Max says
Chris wrestled the ball away from him in the scrum,
and Max said, and I don't know if there's any
video evidence. I don't believe there is. Max said that
(29:34):
he did have full control and the ball was wrastled
from him by Blanski.
Speaker 4 (29:39):
Yeah. I think he said some sort of like Judo
where there's like a leg.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
Bar and oh wow, I see you know, I see
you know you're Judo.
Speaker 4 (29:47):
I see you know you're Judo, sir.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
I guess it's hard to see in the video from
September nineteenth at Loan Depot and Max is trying to
stop the wedding or the auction from going forward litigation.
But House Golden, the auctioneers, have no plans how stop
the auction. Yeah, House Golden has no plans to stop it.
(30:12):
So it looks like the fifty to fifty ball is
going to strike while the iron is hot and go
up for auction this week. So Max must not have
much of a case. Now, Matt, you might wonder like
you might be a real rich guy as you are.
But the VA, the B probably not going to buy
a ball for five hundred thousand dollars. But if you
were a super rich guy, Matt, and you really wanted
(30:34):
your hands on this, But let's say you had high
blood pressure or something like that. You can't deal with
the stress of an auction. You know, some people thrive
on that, the thrill of the chase. Some people really
don't like that kind of confrontation. So let's say you're
an unconfrontational billionaire that wants this ball.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
What do you do, Matt.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
There is a buy now price where you could have
the whole auction tossed for four and a half million
dollars right now. If you want that ball right now,
four and a half million dollars will make it happen.
That's it, huh by now four and a half mil
and who knows, maybe the auction will drive it above
four and a half million dollars. It is expected to
(31:16):
bring in at least a million. So the moral the
story is, don't do it. Don't negotiate with the team.
If you get a historical.
Speaker 4 (31:25):
Ball, yeah, you just grab it and run, grab it
and medicated.
Speaker 2 (31:32):
You gotta go Steve Miller and shake the money and run.
I will say, I do, I do.
Speaker 4 (31:39):
I've watched the video at all the different angles. I
do feel a little bad for young Max the eighteen
year old. But you know, the scrum is the scrum.
And when you get into a dad's strength, barbed wire
around the bicep, tattooed type, jeans wearing, dude, it's gonna
be hard to win that bat.
Speaker 2 (31:56):
And we're talking about a historic ball. We're not talking
about Hey, it's a foul ball. And there's a kid
sitting next to me. Yeah, life changing riches.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
I don't know if you got your hand on the
ball or his balls, to be honest, Max, I mean
I'm trying to figure it out.
Speaker 2 (32:09):
Wait, they don't have any Mike Pereira to help out
Max the eighteen year old. Yes, Tim, so you can't
just yell out once you have the hand on the baseball.
I got it, I got it. Every possession, yeah, possession. Well,
what a wild time to be alive. Kids. Otdi's on
a roll. The Dodgers not really on the ropes, but
man crazy. More to come on, m FI seventy LA Sports.
(32:32):
We got three things Thursday, we've got your dead and
a live guy. Birthday, the day final our of fun
fact and quick hitsckats, stay with us,
