Man Friday.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
I was glad you were able to muster the enthusiast moss, Matt,
because I know you wanted that wild card. I know
you wanted that sharpening on the pencil.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
I was thinking, do I do I really do I
really want to get out for Winter Solstice? For the
petros of money winter Solstice shebang. I feel like the
wild card might spare us that probably still gonna have
to do the cry my guys, dash, we're gonna make
this Christmas party.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
It ain't and now it's just money that they're already down.
Such a big it was a big success. We're gonna
do it again. Wor screwed basically, Yeah, but we do
have a great show for only two hours because, like
you said, Matt, well first let's do the Frogman Friday stuff.
Why not? Why not we live on a placid island
of ignorance, in the midst of black Seas, of its sanity,
(02:13):
and it is not meant then we should voyage bump
Paterson money show on a frog Band Friday enjoys yet
fears the seat the Pacific ocean, the lack of a
(02:34):
wild card, our false schedule. We also ordered the Great
Mike Nelson, played by the one and only Annoyed Bridges
and one of the greatest television shows ever produced. In
an area that is now falling into the sea. See
how come on, get something that help?
Speaker 4 (02:53):
It'll be dark soon.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
You want to sit out here in this raft all
night to well?
Speaker 5 (02:59):
Not if you do something.
Speaker 6 (03:01):
You want to listen to me for a minute. During
the war, I was a new DT. I've been stranded
in these rafts before.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
All right, then tell us what to do.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
Well, let's not sit here and wait.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Let's do something.
Speaker 6 (03:12):
Let's strength first. Huh. That's the first law of survival.
I gotta save our strength.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
We might need it, Todd Lights, Let's get there too,
Fi God, what are you nuts?
Speaker 4 (03:23):
What are you nuts?
Speaker 2 (03:23):
We still gotta take that Florida man, You know what
that's like. These days?
Speaker 7 (03:28):
You got the Navy everywhere, you got frogmen, you got
the EC twos with the satellite tracking, you got the
spell two nine of salt choppers up the ass. We're
losing one out of every nine loads. That's no dunk
walk anymore. Let me tell you forget about money. What
do you suggest that's reasonable?
Speaker 2 (03:48):
What's reasonable is having the guy that's almost as valuable,
maybe as valuable, maybe more more than show Heyo Tani
at the games data.
Speaker 8 (03:58):
Rule all yeah, bullish?
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Do you blame me?
Speaker 2 (04:37):
I am bulli you bullian?
Speaker 3 (04:41):
You er.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
You get out back?
Speaker 5 (04:50):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Tim kats Uh deep into the night working Dodger Talk
and Dodgers Clubhouse show, which David Vasse, of course did hear,
his normal wild ass job with all the players, and
that one night every year just shows you how valuable
David vass is all year when you see the way
(05:10):
and how the players react to him. But Tim Kates
was almost blown out of his home by the Dodger
plane last night? Did you know that? Did you know?
Did you know? Did you know?
Speaker 4 (05:20):
What do you mean? He was blown out of his
home by the Dodger blol.
Speaker 9 (05:23):
Last night, Matt, about twelve forty five am, maybe twelve
fifty ish, we heard this loud plane in the city
of Burbank, and it was really loud and unusual for
that time because there was a curfew curfew.
Speaker 5 (05:38):
And it was really loud. And sometimes you hear like a.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
And they usually don't. They usually don't let him take
off that way either.
Speaker 5 (05:45):
Right, yeah, FedEx one.
Speaker 9 (05:46):
But this plane was taken off in a different direction,
so much so the noise was blowing towards the canyons
of Burbank and it was so loud and started rattling
the windows, boom boom. Sadie got up random the windows.
We ran, We're like, what's going on? Is there airplane
about to crash in?
Speaker 2 (06:01):
I understood that it was like paranormal activity had had
Blue Sadie kates against the wall.
Speaker 9 (06:07):
It was more like Michael J. Fox when he, you know,
went to the amp there at the beginning Back to
the Future.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 9 (06:13):
And we were like, what the heck's going on? And
I said to my wife, I said, that's probably the
Dodgers taken on. She goes, no, no, they go take
off from Lax. I said, no, on a trip to Denver,
like this time wise, it makes sense they're probably taking
off right now.
Speaker 5 (06:25):
Sure enough, I text Assay and he's.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Like, that was us. We're flying. And then this morning
you put in a complaint with the Burdbank Airport, right the.
Speaker 9 (06:33):
First thing this morning A written one online and I
called and left the message as well.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
So good job.
Speaker 5 (06:39):
There's a curfew.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
If you're a reason my daughter woke her up and
it's school time, that's right, just failed her test.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
You owe me money.
Speaker 5 (06:45):
Now she didn't get into Harvard.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
Geez, exactly right. I'll never get it at stand plane.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
There isn't any time the Dodgers taken off all over
my house so scared?
Speaker 8 (06:56):
What was that?
Speaker 2 (06:57):
We are excited about that? The other thing I heard
about was that Fred and Vic really got into it
right for one hour show. I know I don't understand.
I don't, but I don't know what. Yeah, I got
a couple of texts about it. But if I don't,
if no one really knows, then I'm not going to
get deeper into it.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
Well, it's not available. Ronnie won't give him the secret comraes.
I'd love to join you guys. I mean, you know
he wants to check in. You got Otani going three
for five Monster Series scores, the Guibby, the what game
winning rbih Whitty. You know he wants to fight his
(07:39):
way off hold, but Ronnie won't let him, Just like
Kates wouldn't let him on Dodger Talk last night.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
You didn't let Vic on Dodger talk last night.
Speaker 5 (07:47):
Kate's as bad information. Matten, that is bad.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
You figure that's bad information on Dodger talk.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
He was not on Dodger that he was.
Speaker 9 (07:55):
But but I did not get a text either. Oh really,
timmy son? What time is you talk?
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (08:01):
I didn't get not that I heard.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
Do you expect him to reach out to him?
Speaker 8 (08:07):
Vic?
Speaker 2 (08:07):
You wan on after this game?
Speaker 4 (08:08):
I mean I heard you shut him out and Isabelle?
Speaker 5 (08:11):
Oh no, is he?
Speaker 8 (08:12):
No?
Speaker 9 (08:12):
Is he sent us me and calling a message saying
that she couldn't call in last night. Something to do
with the group home. They'd be mad if she was
on the phone. Yeah, here it is. I can't call tonight, tim,
My group home will kill me. We did it, though,
How sweet? We beat those padres at home. If you want,
you can read this on the air.
Speaker 4 (08:29):
Oh beautiful. Did you read it on the air.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
Yeah, it took us to do it, right there, I read.
I also got the we did it text? I got
that tip I did not.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
That's because she doesn't have my number. Maybe she's blocked.
I don't remember you blocked her. I think so. I
was listening last night, Kates a lot of energy, Oh yeah,
a lot of excitement, a lot of play by play
from Kate's about oh and Max Muntsey's down one and
two and he coaxes the walk and then first strike
to Will.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
Smith and at three and one just hammer.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
I was case was not going to let any callers
have any shine, especially when the first time you went
to was like, yeah, I was at the game.
Speaker 5 (09:11):
David is right by the way from Colorado. But real quick,
we did have.
Speaker 9 (09:13):
A blind man called the show last night, We Love
the Ball, and he was awesome and he.
Speaker 5 (09:17):
Was very appreciative of David Vass.
Speaker 9 (09:19):
A lot of love for the way David interacts with
the players, especially the post game because he can't watch
what's going on, so he can only listen and to
hear that banter. He said, you can really tell the
players love dv and I was like, absolutely, they love him.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
Well, it is what makes Dave so valuable.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
He's the best.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
He does interact with these players and he joins us
now the home.
Speaker 10 (09:40):
Of the Dodgers.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
With an inside look at the Dodgers.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
This is the Vass Report with David Vasse. Why is
he so effing dry? It's David Vasse on your Southern
California Toyota Dealers celebrity hotline in Colorado with the Dodgers.
Will today look like? Does it matter? And what's up
with Freddy Freeman? What's gonna happen? Kids? We'll find out.
(10:08):
Dave from Spectrum Sports and at LA MLB Network and
of course right here on AM II seventy LA Sports.
You saw what he does, an embodiment of it all
year and one night every year. Dave, what's cracking? How
are you?
Speaker 11 (10:23):
I'm doing great. I'm here at Corus Field. Dave Roberts
is on the field around the Rockies batting cage. But
black came over congratulated him, and it's a celebration. Even
though the Rockies are one loss away from another one
hundred last season, it's the last three games of Charlie
Blackman's major league career, so the Dodgers obviously have something
(10:47):
to play for. Otani still has some history to be
made as far as trying to reach four hundred total bases,
becoming the first player since two thousand and one to
do so. He's one story and base away from topping
his IDOL eachy row for the most stolen bases in
a season by a Japanese born player, So there's a
(11:09):
There's a few different subplots to this three game series.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
The most important plot is what you smelled like last night, Dave,
And what everybody smelled like on the plane. Did you
get on the plane champagne and beer soaked or were
you able to rinse off and change clothes? And how
nasty and ripe was that fuselage en route to Denver?
Speaker 11 (11:30):
Well, Matt, you may not realize this, but there are
showers in the players took showers.
Speaker 5 (11:36):
But what about your phone call?
Speaker 2 (11:38):
What about you?
Speaker 11 (11:41):
As next Monthsy described in a very colorful way last night,
I did not have any champagne or beer poured on me,
so I got away clean. I just changed clothes, even
though the aroma of all that and the hugs from
the champagne drenched players got on to the clothes that
I wore. So I feel like it's a big victory.
(12:03):
I'm able to use the same blue shirt again for
another victory celebration.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
Was that the first time that you've I mean this
has been like eleven times or something while we've been
doing this, right, Is that the first time that you've
not had one of those things app made drenched?
Speaker 11 (12:20):
The first time I got away clean, that is the
first time I got away clean. I was. You know,
our radio connection is in the corner in the one
of the far corners of the Dodger Clubhouse, so a
lot of the celebration was on the far end of
the Dodger Clubhouse. And I went and grabbed players. Players
came to me. But honestly, guys, after the first champagne
(12:43):
bottles were popped, it really wasn't a Rockets celebration. It
was more of a you know, I felt like, as
Dave Roberts said a couple of weeks ago, a more
sense of relief that they were able to accomplish this
and hold off the Padres. And I get this, when
you have these enormous expectations on you, winning the division
(13:05):
is not something that you really go over the top
and celebrate about. But certainly a huge accomplishment considering how
good the Padres have been the second half of the season.
But yeah, as far as putting into context this celebration
versus others, it really wasn't as rockous as maybe twenty
thirteen or twenty fourteen, the first couple of years the
(13:28):
Dodgers were able to do this.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
Put into context the Walker Buehler start. Dave not a
lot of swing and miss, but certainly effective. One run
in five innings and damn a lot of emotion on
the mound.
Speaker 11 (13:42):
I mean, that's what he's built for. Those are the
type of starts that he lives for and what he's
been working to get better at, so he could be
in a position to be able to pitch five innings
like he did last night. I actually believe the first
inning was the key inning for Walker Bueller to get
through because going into last night's start, his ELRA in
(14:03):
the first inning of games this season was nine and
the very first batter of the game, Luisa Rise, got
ahead three to zero and flew out to center field,
one of the worst at bats I've seen a Rise have.
If a Rise gets on base on a four pitch walk,
all of a sudden, you know the wheels might start
coming off in that first inning, and the complexion of
(14:24):
that game is a lot different. So I thought the
first batter was the biggest key to Bueler getting the
Padres out in order and get his confidence rolling in
the right direction. You saw how high his confidence was
as he was pleading with Dave Roberts Kershaw like to
go back out for the sixth inning, but that was
the right choice. You know, things could fall apart quickly
(14:47):
if you send him back out for the sixth inning,
as we saw happen to Joe Musgrove in the seventh inning.
I couldn't understand why Mike Schiltzent must grove out there
for the seventh but it obviously worked out in the
Roger's favor. But talking to scouts going back to Buehler
in the middle of that game when he came out,
they said they still don't see the late life on
(15:08):
his fastball. His cutter and two seemed fastball were the
biggest key to his success last night to get weak contact.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
Well. He did seem very humble and very happy after
the game, no doubt about it. Speaking of humility, Dave,
what happened to Freddie Freeman? And when are we going
to know what the prognosis really is?
Speaker 11 (15:31):
I spoke to Freddie on the field after the clubhouse celebration.
He was out there with his dad and his stepmom celebrating,
but he was in a walking boot, trying to take
pressure off that right ankle. I was told that the
right ankle was the size of a cantelope last night
when we were talking to him, But he was in
(15:52):
good spirits, which tells you he's optimistic and really does
believe what the trainers and doctors were telling him after
they examined it. X rays were negative. He's he's in
Los Angeles. He said he was going to spend a
lot of hours at Dodger Stadium the next eight days
to get the swelling down to hopefully be able to
play a week from Saturday in Game one of the NLDS.
(16:15):
So you're going to see kek Hernandez play first base tonight.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
As for the rest of the weekend, Dave, last thing,
Yamamoto start tomorrow? Is there anything we're looking for? Is
just a tune up for game one of the divisional
series a week from tomorrow? Like what should we expect
from him? Will he be rested? Is are they looking
for anything specific?
Speaker 2 (16:36):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (16:36):
Kind of what's what's going into this series all weekend long?
Speaker 2 (16:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 11 (16:39):
I would say he's the most well rested pitcher on
the staff considering how many days off he gets in
between starts. And you know, tomorrow is a tune up,
That's what it is now. It's not a must win
start for Yamamoto. It's a tune up for him to
get his mechanics. I know that's something that he's been
talking about the last couple of weeks, getting his mechanics,
(17:02):
getting his front foot, his landing foot on time, because
that is monumental to his success. So yeah, tomorrow's more
of a tuning up for Game one of the NLBS.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
Well, great job last night, Dave. Have a great weekend
in Colorado. I know there's no place you'd rather be
Big Buffalo's game in Central Florida. You're gonna miss that,
but we'll enjoy listening to you on the radio. Great
job last night, Thanks Dave, and congratulations on a great season.
Speaker 11 (17:32):
Oh thank you guys for always being so kind to me.
I really appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
Well, we're no Rogan and Rodney, but we try our best.
We know you're on the road. Thank you, Dave. And
that's David Vasse Morongo Casino Dodgers on deck with all
those hungover Dodgers or I guess he says it wasn't
that Rockets.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
Job's not finished, man. You know this team plays for
more than just in divisional Crown. Okay, thank you. Well,
aware doesn't mean you can't enjoy a party.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
From time to time. I guess it does, Matt, I guess.
So that's why we don't win anything? And what we do?
They misspell our name. The one thing we didn't get
to promote there is that we have a huge event
(18:27):
on Monday in Irvine at BJ's. We're already trying to
make some money just in case the Dodgers don't win
enough playoff games to keep Don Martin happy. We'll be
at BJ's at two o'clock in Irvine at the Marketplace,
and everybody's required to be there. We'll be back with
more great sports talk. Word Number Song of the Day
(18:49):
on am FI seventy l A Sports, your home of
the NL West champion Los Angeles Dodgers. Everybody, what's cracking
and welcome back. It's the one and only Petros and
Money Show. Kevity Do on AMPHI seventy l A Sparts.
(19:15):
You know we don't know this song. We never even
played it. Be blah boo b.
Speaker 10 (19:22):
B B.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
Excuse me, dato. Somebody texted me that they could listen
to us to three hours of You never can't tell
Bruce Springsteen talk, and it still wouldn't be enough. What
do we got here?
Speaker 1 (19:45):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (19:46):
Interesting, we never played I never even rehearsed.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
That song, none of us. Some of us haven't heard
this song since we were teens.
Speaker 4 (19:58):
Come on, Max, getting there, but stop stop stop.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
And I love doing that. Like half few people don't
even know what we're talking about, but I love doing
it the most because inevitably two or three like super
music talks are like you don't know, you don't understand
what a simple one, two three five sequence on the
guitar that is everybody knows that checks.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
Where talented bands in the world. Okay, one of the
most talented bands in the world.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
Bo Do Do Do doo.
Speaker 4 (20:31):
Right now, you're coming in, she said.
Speaker 10 (20:33):
Doom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boo boom boom.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
Dodgers coming up. They already won the division. We've been
celebrating David Massey with some great information. I didn't like
the old cantalope leg talk, but no little I've happen there, Uh,
the old in my time, a candelope leg gets you
shut down for the spring shot or not. So we'll
see what's wrong with them c l Care via the
(21:01):
b TSKS. Yeah. Uh, so we had that information from Dave.
We got Michelle, you, the vixen of the track, joining
us in the very next segment. We'll have a college
football whip and we'll have it all. But right now,
real quick, it's time for the word of the day.
His word, the word of the day. Today's word of
(21:23):
the day is, hey, hey, I'm not that bad of
a guy. Remember the guy at the coffee place that
I called a d effort to or a dog Effortscuse
I don't have to say.
Speaker 4 (21:34):
D oh in a parking lot?
Speaker 2 (21:36):
Yeah, yeah, because he said I parked too close and
I had to get on the other side that he
came over and called me homeboy. So I called him
a d effort.
Speaker 8 (21:43):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
He was behind me at the coffee place today, all
tatted up with his neck tattoos and everything, and I
bought him a cup of coffee. Oh look at that,
And I learned that his name, I said, And he
said why, And I said, well, I'm pretty sure I
called you a dog effort in the parking lot there
a couple of weeks back. And he goes, oh, yeah,
that was you, And I said yes it was. My
(22:05):
name is Petros and he his name was Josh from Wisconsin.
Speaker 4 (22:08):
Okay, see see see that's beautiful.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
You know, Matt, I'm not that bad of a guy,
you know, not like everybody says. Dodger lineup is out.
Looks like everybody's playing except for Tu Edemano, Freddie Freeman,
who's not on the trip. Well, c l No, Chris Taylor,
He's oh no, yeah, Candlelo Blake, Candela Blake, Cavin Lucks
(22:34):
is a baton third instead. All right, it's time for
the number of the days. Number, number of the.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
Day, number of the day, from the the category of
Springsteen the East Street Band. You never can't tell a
d twenty seven boy. I know that's not necessarily something
that's going to have widespread appeal to much of our audience,
but for the limited number that do know, what a
wonderful evening I had last night. And I just have
(23:02):
to tip my cap to the incomparable Paul Weller, who
has not been back to southern California for nearly a
decade and played the Anaheim House of Blues last night
and played freaking twenty seven songs. Closed it, Davis. Nothing
was too good, not like, oh I got a new
album out. Here's seven of those songs now. He played
(23:22):
town Call Malice to close it out. He played That's Entertainment.
He played a bunch of Style Council songs. My ever Changing.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
This one's about the Clinton election in the nineties.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
Shout to the top, of course on the Vision Quest soundtrack,
one of the greatest soundtracks of all time. And I
will say it had been a long I worked Paul
Weller records. They were the first records I worked when
I got into the music business, to college radio, the
solo record, followed by Wildwood, Stanley Road, and then Heavy Soul.
And I forgot from all the shows that I had
(23:56):
to go to. It really is funny that there are
just certain outfits that you have to wear to certain shows.
Like the Ohanna thing is going on tonight. You know,
it's freaking blazing hot.
Speaker 2 (24:11):
Ohana is the White Reggae Festival.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
That's the Pearl Jam Festival. Oh so it's Pearl Jam.
And I wish I could just go to the two openers,
Devo and crowded House and then leave, But you know
there's gonna be a bunch of dudes in flannels and
jeans and like, yeah, it is what I wear.
Speaker 4 (24:24):
Pearl Jam shows my sweet.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
Well, you gotta buy new flannels chili outside.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
But the night, you know, last night, I'm not exaggerating,
and I feel like this is a big number. When
I say ten percent of the crowd had to be
in Fred Perry polos. It's like, Hey, I'm gonna wear
this bacon collared totally just rated out, sleeve stretched to
the nines, busted up Fred.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
You know, I mean you're talking about the style Council.
Speaker 3 (24:53):
Look, that's what I mean. I gotta wear my Fred Perry. Well, yeah,
but it was thirty years old and it doesn't fit
in anymore.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
Hey, what's like when Oasis comes back? Do I wear
my pocka or my infin packa?
Speaker 3 (25:05):
Exactly right? So congratulations to the dudes that stayed true
to the the oldest of old school Paul Weather themes
and rocked the Fred Perry's.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
My ever changing mood.
Speaker 4 (25:17):
Exactly right.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
It's never changed from this rugby shirt.
Speaker 3 (25:20):
That's why I'm still wearing this Fred Perry polo.
Speaker 4 (25:24):
Isn't it sweet?
Speaker 2 (25:26):
But he didn't do like a get over it type
of song about like the elect No, like a George
Bush some kind of controversy, not at all.
Speaker 4 (25:34):
He's just this.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
In two thousand and eight he simply just played song
at double Encores, three songs and then two songs and
nothing was too cool and just played played everything played,
you know, held in.
Speaker 2 (25:49):
The House of Blues on sunset clothes.
Speaker 4 (25:52):
Yeah, that's closed.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
What are we doing?
Speaker 3 (25:55):
I know what are we doing? I think it's a
I think it's an Asian fusion restaurant now well or
condos one of the two, Ronnie.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
This is the song of the day.
Speaker 10 (26:11):
Teenage Dads are a four piece band from Australia with
our song of the day called boarding pass new music
for you on a frog Man Friday, where the Petros
and Money shows on a flex alert for Dodger Baseball
clinch in that National League Western Division title last night
and scanning their boarding passes for Colorado to finish out
(26:32):
the regular season with the Rockies at Corus Field this
afternoon with a four o'clock start for your Morongo Casino
Dodgers on Deck show with Tim Kaits indeed.
Speaker 3 (26:44):
Thank you, Ronning, I'm Michelle you Michelle you We'll talk
to sant Anita. Get to a texto so we're going
till four. It's an early one flex alert Petros in
Money two until four pm here before Dodgers Rockies. I
should say nationally West Chaman Dodgers, Rockies Baseball, catch you somebody,
(27:11):
and five to seventy LA Sports Live Everywhere on the
iHeartRadio app, home of the NL West champion Dodgers. After
taking two of three from the Padres. Remember they will
have a final series of the twenty twenty four campaign
this weekend. You can hear it all weekend long, an
extended celebration like a teenage girl's week long birthday. Dodgers
at Rockies tonight, Tomorrow and Sunday before the divisional round
(27:32):
starts a week from tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
Well, if Santa Anita Racetrack was a teenage girl, Matt,
it would be the most spoiled girl in the world.
Because the party never ends. It's extended throughout the year
pretty much. You can always get something going at Santa Anita.
It's opening weekend coming up racing this afternoon and tomorrow.
(27:58):
Tomorrow's also the California Crown, which even rivals the Caribbean Queen.
Because we're sharing the same dream. Joining us right now
on your Southern California Toyota dealer celebrity hotline. She works
at Santa Anita. She breaks horses and hearts a crown
(28:21):
Royal and coke after a long day of breaking horses
and broadcasting is what Michelle you requires.
Speaker 4 (28:27):
That's why they call it the California Crown and she.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
Is a California Queen, There's no doubt about it. A
hero to the people of the horses and a horse lady.
Talked to bottom Michelle U on the Pettersen Money Show.
What's cracking? Michelle? How are you happy?
Speaker 12 (28:43):
Frontman Friday?
Speaker 4 (28:45):
Yeah, you're the best.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
How's it going, Michelle?
Speaker 12 (28:48):
Feel like you guys know me so well? That introduction
was amazing.
Speaker 2 (28:52):
Oh well, we think you're great. Michelle. You're a very
great friend in the horse world, maybe our only friend
other than Doug O'Neill, who took it Tequilah.
Speaker 12 (29:01):
Everyone loves you, guys.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
Tell us though, Michelle, what do you do in the
off season when when Santa Anita is not over? When
the when the extended party has a short respite.
Speaker 12 (29:11):
So during summer, when it's too hot up here to
actually party, I just float in the pool and drink
Crown and cokes all day long.
Speaker 3 (29:18):
Wow, it's like a teacher's life, you know. You get
simmer Off a boozehound floating around a pool. No, exactly, No,
we don't have a count on horses broken over the
course of the break here.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
I bet you could break more.
Speaker 12 (29:30):
When we don't. We don't. We don't do any pre
training during the break, right, because it's summer, we all
move to del Mar so everyone's into the racetrack by then.
So I just got my first group of yearlings to
break this week actually at the Calibret sales, so we
took home four. So this week I'll start all that
baby breaking again.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
Yeah, break them babies. Michelle. You joining us on the
Pegason Money Show. It is popping off at Santa Anita,
the California Crown, and it's opening week again. So what
is what is going on out there? And how do
you pull people away from football?
Speaker 12 (30:05):
Okay, so let me tell you what. This is gonna
be a crazy day at the races, right, It's super
innovative what they're doing here. We're basically taking away all
the lag time in between races and we're just gonna
shove entertainment like down your throats. So you get the
horse races, and then in between the horse races, we've
got these little like David Buster Basketball shoot pop ups.
We've got these food trucks, we got these pop up restaurants.
(30:28):
We've got these like really great promoters from La we
got a chef, Evan Funky, We've got Delilah's. And then
we've also got live entertainment. So in between the races,
we're gonna have Shaboozy playing. We're gonna have Griffin being DJ,
We're gonna have Frank Walker out here. So, like, I mean,
I know one Shaboozy song. I think everyone does, because
(30:50):
I think he's been number one of the Billboard Top
one hundred charts for the last like ten weeks or
something crazy. That's like two songs mixed together, but could
be a really good remix. I like that, but it is. Yeah,
share pour me another shadow whiskey.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
Right, Yeah, I've heard. Yeah, Wait a minute, Michelle, I'm
at the website and I'm looking and of all Superstar, DJ,
Frank Walker, and Shaboozy. Enough, you failed to mention that
Lil Yachti's playing on Saturday.
Speaker 12 (31:21):
Your best friend, oh rewind rewind, I'll mention that first.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
Look at that lil YACHTI in the house. How about
that in the house.
Speaker 3 (31:34):
See look how excited we're freaking out. What a what
a freaking day you got out there. You're floating in
the pool wendays.
Speaker 12 (31:41):
If you if you like racing, come, if you like music, come,
if you like food, come. We are going to have
like the best food I have been given a sneak preview,
I'm like, this is ridiculous. I'm so glad I diet
at all Delmar, so I can eat this right now?
Speaker 8 (31:56):
Look at this?
Speaker 3 (31:57):
Well, all right, let's talk about the race though, all
del Matt that's my new thing. That's right, It's like
a Keto diet, but a little bit different, the Delmar diet.
Speaker 4 (32:06):
What about the races? What do we have?
Speaker 12 (32:09):
The race are going to be great, right, We're going
to have a full card of eleven races, and we're
not going to be too late. We're starting the day
a little bit early and we're going to kind of
bang these races out in the middle of the day.
We have five stakes races. We have four graded stakes
races that are winning. You're ins for the Breeders Cup,
which is our horse racing super Bowl at the end
of the year. This year it's at Delmar So if
you win these races, you get an automatic berth and
(32:31):
all expenses paid into the super Bowl right the Breeders Cup.
So we have like kind of a big, a big
gift on the line in addition to winning, you know,
a lot of money. We have really inflated these pools.
The California Credit itself is worth a million dollars and
there's a couple of horses eligible for some bonuses. If
you had run and won certain races earlier on in
(32:53):
the year and you run in and win this race,
you're eligible for a lot of money at the end
of the season. So there is a ton of money
on the line, like a lot of money on the line,
and the combined earnings of the horse of the California
Crown is over twenty million dollars already. It's crazy.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
Well, the happiest person in all of the San Gabriel Valley,
Santa Anita's back and we're happy to have Michelle you
back around. We appreciate you have a great weekend, Michelle,
and thanks for joining us and letting us know what's popping.
Speaker 12 (33:24):
Thanks guys, if you can't come out this weekend, even
though you're gonna miss out, we do have some other
fun stuff Japan Family Day. We've got the pumpkin patch.
There's some cool activities if you want to come hang
out with me in addition to this weekend.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
Copy that well done and you're telling about it.
Speaker 4 (33:38):
We're in.
Speaker 11 (33:40):
Thanks guys.
Speaker 2 (33:41):
All right, man, I got a couple of textos.
Speaker 12 (33:43):
Can text us up fine, brought to you by your
so Cala Toyota dealers.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
We make it easy, and then we'll do another hour
a great sports talk before getting out to Colorado for
the aftermath of last night's spasm of victory that the
Dodgers had. And now they'll smoke a long cigarette all
over Colorado. Uh, this is about the last night celebration.
It says Petros. Do you think Otawi dumped the cooler
(34:10):
of water on Bill Plashki telling him La times write
whatever you want, with David Vasse in the background yelling yeah.
After spending almost two years riding that the Dodgers have
no business going after Otani and it would be a
disservice to fans if they signed him. I did not
hear a report of that happening last night. It could
(34:33):
have happened.
Speaker 3 (34:34):
That's a great listen, it's a great memory. It's one
of the uh. Bill Plashki plays all the grab ass.
We want to play with him, even got him in
trouble once and censured a little bit by the La
Times because we discussion surrounding Huntland hunting it. It was
your absence that led to me bringing it up. So yes,
we but whenever we bring up the pleague dumping the water,
(34:55):
he genuinely gets upset. He does not want to talk
about it. He does not lie. Like playing that brand
of grass. It really is kind of the one thing
that is off limits for Bill plash I was in Texas.
If you're here, that conversation never happens.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
I guess you're right. You know, I'm sorry the Cotton
bowls that you.
Speaker 4 (35:17):
Are partially responsible.
Speaker 2 (35:18):
So why don't do the big games anymore? Mass right,
just can't get that far away.
Speaker 4 (35:22):
I can't get you far away. Who knows what's gonna
happen to Bill.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
I'm a Padre fan and as of the game last night,
and that was an ass beating. Daniel Jeremiah will be
one hundred percent all crickets on the decks also today's.
Speaker 3 (35:40):
Yeah, you're correct, he has been crickets. I've heard nothing
after his snark surrounding Walker Bueler early when he was
throwing three or four shutout innings. That was the last
we heard of him.
Speaker 2 (35:53):
We heard from Max Munsey last night and all right, well,
thank you to Michelle, you and thank you to all
the Dodger fans celebrating last night's big win. A little
taste of the postseason and the Dodgers they were able
to gobble it up. We'll be right back with more
(36:14):
great sports talk.
