Got to be honest with you, Dave, Ever since we
hit the air, we played the Mike Shilt sound, and
then we heard Max Muncie and then we just heard
Dave Roberts. Very interesting. It feels like they're trying to
back as far away as possible from what was said
yesterday and the emotion that it stoked.

Yeah, well, Mike Shilt is going to protect his player.
Dave Roberts was asked about if you want to respond
to Shilt, basically taking a shot at him for criticizing
many Machado. Shilt in his conference, as you guys heard,
said he wouldn't, you know, talk about another player on
another team even if he had managed them. So felt

like that was a little backhanded shot at Dave Roberts,
and Dave Roberts wasn't going to get into a war
of words with Mike Shilt. So it feels like that
was the off day drama. Now it's about put up
or shut up time. It's a game day and all
the talk is going to go out the window. I
will say this, it feels like there is enough tension

where you could see dugouts empty, bullpens empty tonight if
Walker Bueller or any other pitcher tries to come inside
and I'll just let you guys in on something. So
Buehler was a rookie in eighteen and Many Machado came
over and they were pretty close and still close to

this day. So I don't envision Walker Bueller trying to
hit Many Machado or do any of that stuff. But
I could see him trying to buzz the tower on
a Fernando Tattoos Junior or even Mystery relevant jerks and Profar.
I don't and look, it might be inside. I'm not

saying he's going to hit him, but he's going to
establish the inner part of the plate. And it's all
contention on how those guys react to Bueler about whether
or not there could be a boiling point of tensions
here in this game.

Dave, I know, you know you're focused on the game
that's going to get started here in about two and

the question. You felt like it needed to be addressed.

Were you surprised with the way that Dave answered that
question and the way he described what what he interpret

Yeah, I was surprised, Matt. Look, I didn't know what
reaction I was going to get when I asked that question,
but it felt like it was the question that needed
to be asked after Jack Flaherty let us all in
on the fact that Machado threw the ball at the dugout.
And you know, MY first assumption was that the ball
was thrown towards the front end of the dugout and

who sits there, the manager, Dave Roberts, and Machado said
as much that he was upset Tatis got hit. So
who's he going to take that out on? And I
don't believe many Machado is trying to hit Dave Roberts
that he wanted to, he could have. I believe he
was just letting the emotions get the best of him,
and he was trying to get the attention of the

Dodger dugout that he did not like it. Now, was
that the right way to go about it? You can
argue that, but I don't believe he was trying to
hit Dave Roberts. I just hadn't seen the video at
that point in time that Jack Claerity was talking about
the video that we've seen since kind of shows it,
but I hadn't seen the video. And then a player
inside the Dodgers clubhouse showed it to me, and it

was very clear what the intent was, and that's what
Dave Roberts was referring to.

Nobody else could get in there to take swings because

what he did last week at Dodgers Stadium. A lot
of people would say that that's not the best way
to get out of a slump because you could see
him searching at the plate. You could see that he
is trying to get back twenty two or forty three
at bats with one swing. What he's got to do
is just remind himself. And JD. Martinez told me this

last year, as crazy as it sounds, you have to
remind Lukie Betz how good he is. And hopefully somebody's
doing that for him today.

No, I want to be surprised if O'tani led this

want to compete, go after him, and as the first
batter of the game, I wouldn't expect Michael King not

and Freddie Freeman and how important he is there at
the number three spot. You asked the question of Dave
Roberts and the press are about a half hour ago.
Is he really going to play this game? So do
you think we're now at the point or when do
you think you'll know, even though he's in that starting
lineup whether or not he's going to be out there.

Well, Freddy came out here to do his usual pregame routine,
so it feels like he is going to try to
give it a go. I will say this come speaking
of the Dodger lineup, I mean, Freddy's going to be
in there. How long he's able to last remains to
be seen. But I feel like it's time to get
Key k Hernandez a start. And I would have loved

who have seen Tommy Edmund at shortstop and Key k
Hernandez in center field tonight. Didn't have Miguel Rojas at
your disposal for defense late in the game. The only
reason or the biggest reason why the Dodgers signed Key
k Hernandez and Brandon Domes. I remember exactly where we
were talking stick Dodgers were playing there when they signed

Key k Hernandez. They said it was for October. Well,
here we are in October. Keyk got into the game,
had two really good advans. Miguel Ross just has done
it offensively. If I'm the Dodgers, I'm seriously considering starting
Kei k Hernandez and center and Tommy Edmond at short.

his feet. But you've got to be able to establish

where you could see dugouts empty, bullpens empty tonight if
Walker Bueller or any other pitcher tries to come inside

over and they were pretty close and still close to

this day. So I don't envision Walker Bueller trying to
hit Many Machado or do any of that stuff. But
I could see him trying to buzz the tower on
a Fernando Tattoos Junior or even Mystery relevant jerks and Profar.

establish the inner part of the plate. And it's all
contention on how those guys react to Bueler about whether
or not there could be a boiling point of tensions

that's going to get started here in about two and
a half hours, but you were the guy that asked
the question. You felt like it needed to be addressed.
It's old news to some degree because both parties have
said their piece and Dave appears to move on, but
got to ask you because you know him so well.
Were you surprised with the way that Dave answered that
question and the way he described what what he interpret
(21:46):
it was going on on the field when Manny threw
that ball at the dugout.
Speaker 6 (21:50):
Yeah, I was surprised, Matt. Look, I didn't know what
reaction I was going to get when I asked that question,
but it felt like it was the question that needed
to be asked after Jack Flaherty let us all in
on the fact that Machado threw the ball at the dugout.
And you know, MY first assumption was that the ball
was thrown towards the front end of the dugout and

who sits there, the manager, Dave Roberts, and Machado said
as much that he was upset Tatis got hit. So
who's he going to take that out on? And I
don't believe many Machado is trying to hit Dave Roberts
that he wanted to, he could have. I believe he
was just letting the emotions get the best of him,
and he was trying to get the attention of the
(22:33):
Dodger dugout that he did not like it. Now, was
that the right way to go about it? You can
argue that, but I don't believe he was trying to
hit Dave Roberts. I just hadn't seen the video at
that point in time that Jack Claerity was talking about
the video that we've seen since kind of shows it,
but I hadn't seen the video. And then a player
inside the Dodgers clubhouse showed it to me, and it
(22:55):
was very clear what the intent was, and that's what
Dave Roberts was referring to.
Speaker 2 (23:00):

Rob I had no idea. I was around Bueller a
lot yesterday and he was unflappable. And I got news

You know, I talked to some players. I believe Mookie's
got to stop listening to you me social media and
just worry about what his teammates think of him. Yesterday,
he was in the batting cage for over three hours.
Nobody else could get in there to take swings because
Mookie was in there for three hours intent on doing

what he did last week at Dodgers Stadium. A lot
of people would say that that's not the best way
to get out of a slump because you could see
him searching at the plate. You could see that he
is trying to get back twenty two or forty three
at bats with one swing. What he's got to do
is just remind himself. And JD. Martinez told me this

last year, as crazy as it sounds, you have to
remind Lukie Betz how good he is. And hopefully somebody's
doing that for him today.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
Does somebody have to do that for Otani?
Speaker 6 (24:26):
No, I want to be surprised if O'tani led this
game off with a home run and sent this place
upside down.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
Will they pitch to him?
Speaker 6 (24:35):
They will pitch to him. Yes, Mike Schild has talked
about how he's not going to pitch around him. They
want to compete, go after him, and as the first
batter of the game, I wouldn't expect Michael King not
to go after him.
Speaker 3 (24:48):
Dave just in terms of the rest of the lineup,
and Freddie Freeman and how important he is there at
the number three spot. You asked the question of Dave
Roberts and the press are about a half hour ago.
Is he really going to play this game? So do
you think we're now at the point or when do
you think you'll know, even though he's in that starting
lineup whether or not he's going to be out there.
Speaker 6 (25:08):
Well, Freddy came out here to do his usual pregame routine,
so it feels like he is going to try to
give it a go. I will say this come speaking
of the Dodger lineup, I mean, Freddy's going to be
in there. How long he's able to last remains to
be seen. But I feel like it's time to get
Key k Hernandez a start. And I would have loved

who have seen Tommy Edmund at shortstop and Key k
Hernandez in center field tonight. Didn't have Miguel Rojas at
your disposal for defense late in the game. The only
reason or the biggest reason why the Dodgers signed Key
k Hernandez and Brandon Domes. I remember exactly where we
were talking stick Dodgers were playing there when they signed

Key k Hernandez. They said it was for October. Well,
here we are in October. Keyk got into the game,
had two really good advans. Miguel Ross just has done
it offensively. If I'm the Dodgers, I'm seriously considering starting
Kei k Hernandez and center and Tommy Edmond at short.

I love what Jack Flaherty did. He wasn't trying to
hit Tattis, but he wanted to move his feet make
him a little bit uncomfortable. Tatus has had way too
many comfortable at bats and I know it's not something
we see a lot in baseball these days, where pitchers
come inside and try to make that hit or move
his feet. But you've got to be able to establish

the inner part of the plate so he can't it
can't extend his arms and make him have uncomfortable at bats.
