(00:58):

World Series coverage brought to you in part by Chef Miti.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
You'll be there and that's the deal.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
My dear seasoning partner of the Dodgers at is World
Series Time. Bring out the chef in you they're in.
I saw the seating shirt Marito's in. I saw two
placards from Merito and they are full color. They are
the World Series placards. Yes, they are beautiful.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Where's the petrol some money placard? Don't we hustle hard enough? Matt?

Speaker 3 (01:30):
Are we gonna go on Friday? We're doing the show
from Dodger Stadium?

Speaker 2 (01:34):
No?

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Is that right?

Speaker 2 (01:36):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:36):
I still don't know what time you guys are even
on on Friday?

Speaker 3 (01:38):
What do you mean?

Speaker 2 (01:39):
We're trying to figure out if Dan Patrick's going to
do enough baseball. Excuse me, Colin Coward is going to
do enough baseball to leave him on the air, Because
if Colin doesn't do enough baseball, then Fred and Rodney
are gonna have to cover him up with their sweetmeat.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
I mean, he's kind of a market whore, so you
would assume he's gonna do La New York.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
He is. However, football Friday on Colin Cowhard shows pretty
tough to beat. I do remember where was calling? Right?
Where was.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Blazing five? He does that on Fridays.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
I mean, if Jeter, a big poppy shows up, I'm
sure he'll interview him.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
You would assume.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
But I mean, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
It's Friday, it's on Fox. He's on Fox. So I
don't know what they're gonna do, but we might be
on from noon to four on Fridays. What noon to four? Well,
we're off at four, right for Dodgers on Deck?

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Isn't that what I heard? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (02:27):
It is? That's correct.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
So do you go six to nine Rogan and Rodney noon?

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Yeah, Petro some money noon to four from Dodger Stadium?

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Right, yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
I don't know about that though, why not? I mean,
that's a Don Martin question. I would assume. Have we
not been approved for credentials? Does our postseason credential still work?

Speaker 2 (02:48):
We're not going. We're not invited. They don't want us there.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
You have to get a New World Series credential.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
They don't want our engineer there. They don't want us there.
We are a nuisance. I think we should go. I
think are you gonna do Dodgers on Deck from their cats? Only?
If you guys are it is not up to you?
What do mean?

Speaker 5 (03:05):
Well?

Speaker 3 (03:05):
What if we just make it a statement and not
a question. We don't have credentials, Well, let's get credentials.
Are we credential for the World Series. I think you
guys are credential. You just need to go pick them up.
That's what I mean.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
We don't, we're not.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
All we got to do is go pick them up.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
I'm not going to go pick up the credential if
we're not going to do the show from there, let's
just set it up.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
I know you guys didn't pick up your credentials for
the last round. It's a bad look, is I didn't
pick it up. I totally picked it up for the NLCS. Yes,
when we were there, no DS. You're right, I didn't
get the CS.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Well, there was no reason for us to be there,
and if I showed up, no one would want me there.
Why would I pick it up just to show that
you picked it up.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
I went on Sunday after Raiders and went picked it
up just to make sure I picked it up so
they don't go through.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
I'm sorry that concerned of not being a I'm not
that concern of being a bad look.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
I am.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
Yeah, we didn't cover the NLCS. We were on the
World Cup to leave the country. We're international exactly if
you guys want to be out there Friday, I think
we go.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
Maybe a little pushing from you guys, would that happened?

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Keep on pushing. I've seen more pushing in the men's room.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
I think we just go. I just crap with a
wide stands.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
I've seen more pushing in the men's rooms.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
All I do. It's the way I do it.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
Well. I just got a text from orl Hrscheiz. Okay,
what do you say? He says, I will come on
the show no matter where you are. We are going
to be live at guisaw thos On sunset and we
need you down there. Oral for you, meet you. A
lot is in it for you, and I'll get you
a breakfast burrito live at Guisa thos On. So thank you,
Orrel Hirscheizer.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
That was the Hey, why did the Dodgers win Game
five against the Padres?

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Oral?

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Unannounced pops in Leggio with a championship ring, very special,
great vibes all around, and that's.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
Why we were there. We were able to overcome the
Kardashian curse right and carry the Dodgers to victory. Kate's
what are the funny us there again? What's the probability
that Matt and I will be live from Dodger Stadium
on front.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
I don't know, but I want orl Hursheiser on Scam
we got mikes.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
He said that Arle has made it very clear that
that's too early for him. Okay, we're on from six
to does it matter. He's an afternoon guy, he said
to you. He already said, so give it up.

Speaker 4 (05:10):
I mean eight thirty on Thursday. That's like prom three.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
Hours with World Series champion and former Yankee Steve Sacks.
Isn't enough. It's not enough, Kates. Now you gotta take
our guests. Or El says he wants to come on,
and you got to take him. Having Steve Sacks, World
Series Champion with your Los Angeles Dodgers and former Yankee.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Isn't that enough of a dude? Not enough of dudes on?

Speaker 3 (05:34):
Dudes, dudes on dudes.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
I want it all. I want all the dudes.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
I want it all.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
I think you just called Burton book it man, Hey,
I want to do that you're doing to Dodge Stadium
on why wout doing the show man?

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Trot down Martin our boss from the bullpen packet here
and let's find out what he wants to do.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
Let me tell you how this would go if I
walk in there? Hey boss, can we do the show
from the stadium on front of it? Nope, you guys
walk in there? Hey boss, can we do the show
from the state of Friday?

Speaker 2 (06:00):
Absolutely? And how are we supposed to pick up our
credential from the stadium? We're supposed to SPI lunk into
the stadium Like, there's no way there. We're not gonna
let us park.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
To find speed lunk.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Well, it's you know, your pal stillag tights Stallag might
into the got it underground cave man.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
What if I climb up with my uh leader hoses
and pickaxe my alps climbing gear from the Barlow Respiratory
Hospital to get my credential?

Speaker 4 (06:29):
Well, that's the other thing is parking wise would be
off site. Sure you're cool with that. We got friends.
I don't know that I have any friends.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Yeah, yeah, we got friends. Where at that one place
over there?

Speaker 2 (06:42):
I don't have any friend?

Speaker 3 (06:43):
We park right there. Let me see you know how
this works. We roll up to the booth. I mean,
we might be able to grease throw some money your back.
We might be able to grease the guy up at
the Big Wong Hotel. But that's still a hell of
a walk. Not really.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
The God of Is I think will be fun.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Not really park at the Jack in the Box right
there on Sunset.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
I got a better idea. How we park at Union
Station and then we walk one mile because it's so
easy to walk from there.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
It's like pitfall.

Speaker 4 (07:17):
I mean, I was on social media earlier today and
they're encouraging people to walk to and from Union Station
to the stadium metro.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
Is And how many hobos are you going to walk
past with your child at well? Walk past or step over? Well?
I guess it really depends on how far you want
to get out of the street. The one thing I
love about Chinatown is the Chinese people, because there really
are Chinese people in Chinatown, like they really are. And
you could drive around Chinatown and be like, there's a

(07:45):
Chinese guy. There's a Chinese guy, Like I'm in Chinatown.
It's really cool. Right, Maybe you could do a game
and count how many hobos you run into and how
many Chinese people.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
You a columb right, calum a Chinese people columb hobo hob?
Where do I put a Chinese hobo?

Speaker 2 (08:04):
Good luck? Good luck? Finding one man working pretty hard
down there, John Town, Matt.

Speaker 4 (08:10):
The best thing ABC seven did it like a time
lapse of video encouraging people to do the one mile walk,
and they actually did it, and like sped up time,
only two hobos you had to walk by and during
the middle of the day.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
Works for me.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
I'm sure they'll clean up the route, just like they
did the Super Bowl.

Speaker 5 (08:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Scoop the poop. Scoop the poop, Matt, I did this
for you. It's not for the word of the day,
his words. The word of the day, Today's one of
the word of the day is what are the headlines?

Speaker 3 (08:41):
What should the headline be today?

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Sports? That's all we think about.

Speaker 4 (08:44):
Here's the other story nobody's talking about.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
You know I'm not a racist. I mean, I hope
you do. He's a bad headline. What are the headlines?
We know you are in fact a racist? At least
here's the headline. I saw ESPN dot com betters backing
Brownie as long shot Rookie of the Year headline today
ESPN dot Com for shame, for shame.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Didn't they already get enough of this with the number
one overall pick.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
They also had the Griffies being in town as a
headline for this long shot historical masquerade.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
They get pretty much solidifies that the long shot is
gonna happen, not gonna fly the Griffies in. If you're
not planning on putting Brownie in, that would be awfully awkward.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
So that's one or two headlines. And then I saw
another headline day just to excite you. After the Charger
loss last night, she was still undefeated. And this one
says the rough one. This was from page six and
it says, pregnant Britney Mahomes shares fitness routine to combat
mom but.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
Also upsetting.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
Isn't it a great world? Matt? Let me read. Let
me read that headline to you once again. What are
the headlines? I hope I hope you don't think I'm racist.
I mean I'm not a racist. I hope you know that.
I hope you do that.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
What should the headline be today?

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Sports? That's all we think about. Story. Nobody's talking about.
You know, I'm not a racist. I mean, I hope
you do. He's a bad headline. What are the headlines?

Speaker 3 (10:16):
I'm not a racist. I hope you do.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
Pregnant Brittany. Brittany Mahomes shares fitness routine to combat mom.
But it's a great world and the one that just
barely didn't make it in is Britney Spears marries herself. Okay,
it's the best decision she's ever made, she said, what's
that ceremony? Like?

Speaker 3 (10:36):
Who walks down the aisle? Who's waiting at the altar?

Speaker 2 (10:39):
Oh? Brittany h all right? What if I want a
big fat mom?

Speaker 3 (10:46):
But what I was looking forward to? Why you think
I got pregnant?

Speaker 2 (10:50):
The watcher has to be wide exactly right, like are
gong speed? Dwan Howick texts you. I want to see
while you get to that piece of that sweetmeat. It's
time for the number. The number of the day.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
Uh number of the day is twenty eight seventy bit
of a theme, Actually, I do want to share it.
Number the day. Free things are placed in certain spots
of radio stations, and they don't last long as disgusting
as they.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
Make somebody's birthday cake.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
May I may put a pin in this number and
use it tomorrow and change my as I look down
and I see what's in front of me, whether it's
six to nine hour old Wendy's breakfast sandwiches, the cakes,
will consume.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
Kate's had a bad experience not long than that.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
That's what happened at exactly right, I think sitting nowt
you got chicken sitting at a room temperature for six
hours at a radio station, it's probably gonna.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
But if the chips are down, Matt, and you forgot
to eat.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
I'm gonna take that pizza. I'm gonna take that piece,
a congealed cheese pizza and give it a go and
see what happens. But things typically go quickly, is what
I'm getting at. We had Zenchi Sushi come in for
our tour of sushi. It was delicious. We learned a lot.
Kate's was able to discern which one was which one

(12:19):
was Samon after posing the question.

Speaker 4 (12:22):
I feel better about it.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
That an embarrassing for all of us.

Speaker 3 (12:26):
And as soon as we exited, it was embarrassing to
be honest, to see our station descend upon our bullpen
room and attack the sushi that was left over, and
it was gone.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
It's like a garage.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
So imagine my surprise.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
How much for that?

Speaker 3 (12:46):
When I walked into the bullpen and I found that
there were free goods that had yet to be secured
and snatched up by radio station employees. Did you see, Matt,
what I got? I got this notebook?

Speaker 2 (13:04):
Oh how nice.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
It's got a nice heavy cardboard cover, and it's got
a nice little elastic loop.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
Hold a pen? Is that you? Is that your pin?
Or did it come with it? Came with it? Oh?

Speaker 3 (13:15):
This is a a children's hospital, Los Angeles, penn And
look at this.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
Yes, it's very cool. It pops in it out, very nice.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
I could not believe that this notepick was still available.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
Well, so many people take copious notes these days.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
Exactly right. I like to write things down, and I
like to have it in a nice, that's percure place
with an elastic strap. Now you want to put the
saucy nug for four hours, someone's going to come in
and take that. But a beautiful police of stationary like that,
like this stationary. And you're telling me it's gonna say,

(13:54):
when was doctor Foreman here last week?

Speaker 2 (13:57):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
I know Rogan and Rodney weren't here. They weren't here.
I don't know when the children's hospital folks were here.
But we like to welcome the people that help our
our neighborhood in our greater Los Angeles community out and
when they bring us free goods, shame on our radio
family for not scooping them up.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
I got to be honest, man, I was. I was
admiring that, and I was like, oh, that's really nice.
I wanted to use the pen to cross outs of
these commercials that we've been doing. And I was like,
you know, that's Matt's I'm not gonna touch it.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
Would you like it?

Speaker 2 (14:26):
No?

Speaker 3 (14:26):
You sure?

Speaker 2 (14:27):
I mean, I take the pen.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
I'll give you the whole thing.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
Really, yeah, that's really nice to you, man, it's yours.
You know. I can't believe it survived that long after.
I know, right in the nice pan, it's got a
nice action on that bubble but krusty Western bagel from
two days ago.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
And he's going to be gone, pooh poo.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Right, this is this song of the day.

Speaker 6 (14:51):
Under a Cloud is our song of the Day from
the lovely and talented Susannah Hoffs with new music from
the album called The Lost Record that came out this
past Friday. It's the ninth solo LP for the Berkeley
native and former Bengals singer, songwriter and musician, who still
looks and sounds great playing her six string black and
white Rickenbacker and a nice tune for a Tuesday afternoon

(15:14):
on the Petros and Money Show, where four full hours
of great sports talk exists for your listening enjoyment, with
Brian Finley waiting in the wings with that Bruins Insider
show at seven o'clock.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
There you, Ronnie. I would not say nine solos for hoffs.
She did a few albums with Matthew Sweets and Gas
the cover albums. I worked her first solo record with
Beekeeper's Blues On It took her to CACRW Morning Becomes Aclectic,
picked her up at her house in Rancho Park.

Speaker 6 (15:42):
Well, that Matthew Sweet is included in that list.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
There you go? Oh so so she's got a good
Instagram page. I followed a lot of live music.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
I follow that.

Speaker 6 (15:51):
Yeah, have you heard the new record?

Speaker 7 (15:55):
H No?

Speaker 2 (15:55):
I am Now. What I don't enjoy is the fact
that years ago she cut a ping bong ball in
half and placed it over both of her and made her.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
Eyes like paid a little dot? Did she have him
looking side her signature?

Speaker 2 (16:08):
Look?

Speaker 3 (16:08):
Did she had the dods looking sideway?

Speaker 6 (16:10):
How she did that?

Speaker 3 (16:12):
Amazing?

Speaker 2 (16:12):
She cut of ping pong ball in a half, put
a dot, and then I appreciate that. We'll be right
back with David Messe. But trust some money.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
AM five to seventy LA Sports Live Everywhere on the
iHeartRadio app. That will apply to Dodger games the World Series.
If you are working or not near our radio, need
to hear the Dodger game. If you're in the greater
Los Angeles area, the iHeartRadio app will have the World
Series Game one. Earlier today had a couple pressers. Dave

(16:54):
Roberts announced the Game one starter. It's Jack Flaherty and
that leads us to this conversation.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
Yeah, I'm about a game two. David Vase Every game
the Home of the Dodgers with an inside look at
the Dodgers. This is the Vass Report with David Vasse.
David Vase, local and global celebrity on the Soakouts I
Yota Dealer Celebrity Hotline. He's got all the latest in

(17:20):
the Dodgers Yankees World Series, the biggest World Series of
our lifetimes. David Vasse has got it all at the
Real let Score, Underscore, DV, Spectrum, Sports Net, and MLB Network.
What's cracking, Dave? How are you I'm doing great.

Speaker 8 (17:37):
I've been on press conference Zooms for the last hour
with Freddie Freeman, Max Monthly, Dave Roberts, and now Jack Flaherty,
who has been named the Game one starter for the
Dodgers in the World Series. And Jack just said it's
a pinch me type of moment to be able to
pitch Game one of the World Series at Dodgers Stadium

(17:58):
wearing Dodger blues. So certainly it could be a storybook
ending for Jack Flaherty and the Dodgers if all things
go well.

Speaker 3 (18:06):
Surprised by Flaherty over Yamamoto in Game one, Dave a
little bit.

Speaker 8 (18:11):
Because Yama Moto only pitched once in the NLCS. He
is the highest paid pitcher in baseball history. You would
imagine that would qualify you to start Game one. But
the good news is that both of these guys would
be able to pitch a second time in this series
because there's enough days of rest for Yamamoto to come

(18:32):
back for a Game six, and he's coming off a
really good start against the Mets. Obviously, the first start
of the NLCS did not go the way the Dodgers
or Yamamoto would like it, but a lot of people said,
just like in South Korea, that environment he was maybe
not ready for, but certainly made the adjustments and really

(18:56):
competed to pitch five scoreless innings in his want and
only start against the Mets.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
What do you feel about the vibe going into this, Dave,
the way everybody's handling it, It feels like the story,
at least in our world, is about how expensive the
tickets are and what an exclusive event this is going
to turn out to be.

Speaker 8 (19:14):
It really is, and Petros, you and I were talking
about this. It's one thing to talk about how tough
of a ticket it is to get a Lakers Celtics
seed at the Great Western Forum seventeen five oh five,
or at Staples Center when it was a Lakers Celtics
back in twenty ten, that's what twenty something thousand. But
this Dodger Stadium has the highest capacity in all a

(19:38):
Major League Baseball fifty six thousand plus, and that's how
tough of a ticket it is, and multiple games exactly.
So I agree this is maybe the hottest ticket in
recent LA sports history, maybe ever, and rightfully so, I
feel like this is I don't want to go too far,

(20:01):
but I feel like This is a watershed moment for
Major League Baseball, who obviously has fallen behind the NFL
and the NBA nationally. Oh yeah, this may bring back
Major League Baseball to the forefront of the consciousness of
the rest of the country outside of New York, Boston, LA,
and Chicago, similar to the way Bird and Magic brought

(20:26):
the NBA back in nineteen eighty four Otani and Judge Lakers.
Excuse me, Dodgers Yankees could be that type of seminole moment.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
Dave the uh, you know you often hear the and
especially when things go wrong like a baseball you know, playoffs, crapshoots,
just kind of what you end up getting. Yeah, certainly
this is what they wanted. And it's both number one
Seeds Yankees and Dodgers. Do you think they have the
number one and number two best teams in baseball playing

(20:55):
for the World Series Championship.

Speaker 2 (20:57):
Without a doubt?

Speaker 8 (20:58):
And the first time since twenty thirteen the number one
seeds have advanced to play each other in the World Series.
Last time it happened Cardinals in Red Sox in twenty thirteen.
So yeah, this is everything that Major League Baseball could
hope for. It wasn't a Subway series. The rest of
the country would not have tuned in for that. Nobody

(21:20):
really likes New York outside of New York, so they
think a lot of themselves though exactly so. This is
everything that Major League Baseball could hope for, and maybe
the first time in a long time, a World Series
game is going to have bigger ratings than a Monday
night football game. That will be Game three in the
Bronx on Monday Night.

Speaker 2 (21:41):
The One and Only David Vsse is our guest. Yankees
Dodgers a dream World Series for everybody involved, Dave. Every
time I turn around, if it's MLB Network or Spectrum,
they're showing that interview with Honeywell and Max Munsey. We
talked about it a little bit yesterday, but I heard
you glean some more information from the Dodge hitting coach
regarding this. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (22:02):
I actually sent a text to Aaron Bates and I
asked him whether or not, you know, he could verify
this story that Mounsey had and whether or not he
was overstating it, and he said, absolutely not. It's everything
and more that Max Munsey was telling us. And he said, basically,
Mookie Betts was working through some things on his swing

(22:23):
at that time, and Brent Honeywell Junior was encouraging him
as he was pumping fastballs and branking balls right in
the middle of the strike zone and he wasn't telling
him what was coming. Aaron Bates told me he had
never seen that from a major league pitcher, being as
vocal as he was on the mound, and he has

(22:43):
never seen a picture do that, because pictures do the opposite.
Usually they're trying to prove themselves and get the other
guy out. So Mookie Bets that night at Peco Park
found his swing. He did great, his confidence was back up,
and Brent Honeywell stayed for Chris Taylor, and Aaron Bates
told me that Honeywell would have stayed there until the

(23:05):
morning time, one am, twelve am, just to get those
guys going. And he is one of the most super
genuine teammates he has ever seen. So Brent Honeywell may
have been the guy under the radar that brought Mookie
Bets back to life.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
Dave, we're watching MLB Network and it's great and you
should watch the whole video. It's making the rounds right now.
It's at official Levassay on Instagram where you can catch
it all. But it's really cool to see Mounthsy just
come up on solicited as you're talking to Honeywell to
tell that story. But we're watching MLB Network and they're
showing the Yankees, and we've heard the sound by John

(23:40):
Sterling get all upset saying the Yankees are drunk on
the bass paths. How bad of a base running team
are they? It seems like this is something that's plagued
them all season.

Speaker 8 (23:49):
Huh, those are some of the things that people aren't
focusing on. They're thinking about, Judge Stanton, Garrett Cole. Those
are the things that win or loose big games. And yes,
you can get away with it against the Toronto Blue Jays,
and you can get away with it against the Angels.
You cannot get away with bad base running and giving

(24:11):
outs away to a team as good as the Dodgers.
And comparatively speaking, the Yankees are the worst base running
team in Major League Baseball this season. The Dodgers are
the fourth best base running team in all of Major
League Baseball. So that is one of those baseball things

(24:34):
that the nerds and everybody that's throwing all these stats
at US don't really talk about. It's not just about
how hard you throw a baseball. It's not just about
how hard or how far you can hit a baseball.
These are the things that matter. Can you feel are
you smart on the basis? Can you take an extra base?

(24:57):
The Dodgers are exceptional while the Yankees are horrific?

Speaker 2 (25:01):
David vass our guest, are the Dodgers gonna beet jealous?
When you're talking to Aaron Judge and Garrett Cole, a
couple of California guys that.

Speaker 8 (25:09):
You know, Hey, I might go over to Notre Dame
High School right now because our guy coach, Joe McNabb
might be throwing batting practice to John Carlos Stanton and
Aaron Judge right there, and they might be hitting home
runs onto Riverside Drive right now.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
Look at that.

Speaker 3 (25:25):
Look at that local knowledge from David vassa who is
your counterpart, Dave? And do you a lot because we
know the New York media, you cover the Yankees, You're
probably gonna be pretty damn good at what you do.
I know you don't get to see him a lot,
but they did play a three game series earlier this year.
Was a huge deal. When you'm a moto modem down,
who is your counterpart? And how do you feel about
the New York media that's going to descend upon Dodger Stadium.

Speaker 8 (25:47):
Well, I used to have a counterpart, but unfortunately they
parted ways recently. He was doing it as long as
I have been doing it, and that's Sweeney Murdy for Wfan,
And I don't know what happened, but he's he left
after a couple of years. And I don't believe they
have a David vaz Say with the Yankees anymore. So yeah,

(26:10):
you know, honestly, outside of Joel Sherman, I've heard the
Yankee beat has gotten really soft, interesting soft beat.

Speaker 3 (26:19):
Sherman's got a nice tidy the.

Speaker 8 (26:21):
Mob mentality, so there's more of them to amplify what
is said. But when I went into that Aaron Boone
scrum last year at Dodger Stadium after Aaron Judge broke
his toe, uh, it was it was night and day.
I felt like I was among the San Diego Padres beat.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
Oh wow, double shot insult the Yankees and the Padres
in one statement.

Speaker 8 (26:45):
Hey, that's another subplot as well. Judge versus the bullpen
fence in this series.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
Good one, yeah, oh, good call.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
That's right.

Speaker 3 (26:53):
You should remind him Dave when he does his pressure.
Are you going to think about the wall that you
have your toe on?

Speaker 2 (26:59):
Is that day's Thursday?

Speaker 3 (27:00):
I'm going exactly plant that seed? Is that going to
be in the back of your head at all? Do
you have to be aware of that gate? You know
it'll eat your foot again?

Speaker 2 (27:08):
Great call.

Speaker 8 (27:09):
The Dodgers padded that that concrete area.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
Don't tell that's out, don't tell that well, thank you
say they glued broken glass on it. Oh yeahs.

Speaker 2 (27:21):
We love you. Dave. Rest that voice and get ready.
Thanks for doing it today. I'm back, Thank you.

Speaker 3 (27:28):
Dave.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
Guy gets a Z pack, thinks he's Superman.

Speaker 3 (27:33):
You know, you get case of Budweiser dumped on your
head two weeks in a row, you get the old
Dion Sanders treatment to McCarver, you're a real man. Dian
comes another bucket.

Speaker 2 (27:51):
Speaking of a surprise, Matt, I've got a couple of
local knowledge stories that my crash right into you. What no.

Speaker 3 (28:08):
Petro saying money AM five seven to LA Sports Live
Everywhere on the iHeartRadio app. Just had David vas say
with us. Of course, big breaking news. It was Dave
Roberts earlier today in his presser sharing that Jack flaherity,
not Yoshi Yamamoto, will be the Game one start on Friday.
A lot of people thought Yamamoto perhaps pitched the best,

(28:32):
had the best pitching performance of the season when he
shut down the Yankees out at Yankee Stadium. But it
will be Jack Flaherty that gets the Game one start.
Pretty damn exciting Dodgers Yankees local guy quired in the
middle of the season from the Tigers, and he is
starting Game one of the World Series against the Yankees.

(28:52):
That's the big breaking news. Anything you missed earlier, you
can always relive through the petro So Money podcast on
the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (28:59):
It's right there, or on your other podcast platforms. Matt,
speaking of local we got some local knowledge here, disturbing
local knowledge from the South Bay is common knowledge, his
local knowledge.

Speaker 6 (29:14):
He's very knowledgeable on the things that you come up with.
As far as for with your.

Speaker 2 (29:18):
Knowledge is Matt, within two days of each other, two
cars flew into things in the South Bay in a
very disturbing way, and we just can't have it. Of course,
we wouldn't do these stories if somebody had died. Nobody
died like that surfer for that well, the surfer got
poked by the swordfish in the chest that died, So
we're not doing that story. Terrible, I mean, what are

(29:40):
the chances?

Speaker 3 (29:42):
Probably not hot flying swordfish to the chest. That's an
unfortunate way to go. Very don't suspect that happens.

Speaker 2 (29:48):
I mean, you're all happy like the girl in Blue
Crush right after they take the picture. Next thing you know,
swordfish flies out and it's tough one. But these are
not as tragic.

Speaker 3 (29:56):
Any mysteries in the ocean, no doubt, Matt.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
I mean, my god, swordfish through the Why that swordface
must have been pretty piste off.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
Like we just did the story even though we weren't
gonna I'm sorry, Okay.

Speaker 2 (30:06):
This story is less disturbing. This is the story first, Matt.
We'll just go right to KABC because they have the
full deal. Will Tim Conway it uh? Oh k t
l A, I'm sorry, not KABC, k t LA, which
I prefer. And this is West Torrance High. Now I
know what you're gonna say. A car slams on something
of West Horns High Texas just lost you're saying it's

(30:28):
Steve sarkis in Austin. They did not lose him for
the week like they did once when he was at
Washington and no one knows that story anyway.

Speaker 3 (30:38):
But the point is this seems like you just shared
that as well.

Speaker 2 (30:40):
I didn't say anything. I told you the story about
the surfer was too upsetting. Now this is West Torrance
over the week.

Speaker 3 (30:47):
Time in his life, all right, it's a lot different
for Sark Now.

Speaker 2 (30:50):
Delamo Boulevard Matt that connects the South Bay with the
beach cities right there through Torrents West Horns is right there.
You see the whole football field in the track, and
somebody just blew right over the embankment and flew onto
the track while some kids are playing soccer. Here's the report.

Speaker 9 (31:06):
Hi Rachel, Hi koreein Hi Rich. Good evening to you both.
Imagine you're twelve years old, you're playing soccer and all
of a sudden a car comes barreling onto the field.
Pretty startling to say.

Speaker 4 (31:19):
That no one was injured.

Speaker 9 (31:22):
Here we go, Yeah, there you hear the sound of
a major crash. Moments beforehand, someone reported a driver speeding
through the streets of neighboring Hermosa deed, exactly that same
man made his way here and is the one scene
plowing into the fence and landing in the middle of
a soccer field at Western.

Speaker 7 (31:45):
It felt like the whole world st It was just
kind of crazy. It was a crazy moment in my life.

Speaker 9 (31:50):
It was this other way. Alexander sten was the goalie.

Speaker 7 (31:54):
It gave me like a little bit of anxiety. It
was just so unbelievable. I didn't even I didn't know that,
Like it looks like something out of a video game.

Speaker 9 (32:05):
According to witnesses, the car landed on all four wheels,
started smoking. Fans ran towards the driver, who many say
wasn't in his right mind.

Speaker 2 (32:14):
The driver out of the car, they held the police case.

Speaker 9 (32:23):
The damage now is noticeable, but minimal. These young people
say what they saw though, was something that'll stick with them.

Speaker 5 (32:30):
Every time I look at the field now, I won't
forget it, and like, I'll just remember like it forever, forever.

Speaker 2 (32:36):
I gotta be out drive by that all the time,
and every time we.

Speaker 9 (32:39):
Suspect the driver was under the influence around this track
or playing additional games. Thankfully that wasn't the case. We're
live in Torrents tonight. I'm Rachel Mentah KTLA.

Speaker 3 (32:50):
Five news spray from Matt mac. It was a rough time.
That shanelink fence, though, I will say acted is like
the like a net that's swallowing, loaded down, loaded down,
kind of like a drag race. Driver wasn't in his
right mind.

Speaker 2 (33:08):
I'll remember this forever in my whole life. So there
was that, Matt, and you think that's all, but it's not.
Some old lady flew off an embankment and Rancho Palace
readies and fell right on top of somebody's house, blew
up their whole house. Back to Katla new it.

Speaker 10 (33:21):
Had a crazy crash and Rancho Palace for razy smashes
right through the roof of a home. Elle County firefighters
responded to calls if a person trapped around six o'clock
this evening on a drive. The homeowner says that an
elderly woman was behind the wheel and it took first
responders about.

Speaker 2 (33:39):
Forty except the paper the jaws of life.

Speaker 10 (33:42):
That driver was taken to the hospital to be treated
for her injuries. The damage left behind by the crash
that is immense with debris all over the room. And
we spoke with the homeowner about the shocking crash. She is,
I lived in the family room and I just saw
piles and piles of wood.

Speaker 2 (33:59):
The wind does it shatter? It sounded like the whole
house exploded. This is just stuff. And you really just
need to know that you're okay, that's okay. And I
hope the lady that was in the.

Speaker 3 (34:08):
Cars okay, all right, that's beautiful perspective, that's beautiful. You know,
some houses slide into the ocean, right, I got an
old woman.

Speaker 2 (34:17):
I don't know if that's the same air. I mean,
Raancha Palace, Vernie's is pretty fast. My parents live there.
I grew up there. Right, My house isn't sliding. My
parents' house isn't sliding.

Speaker 3 (34:26):
And you're thinking, well that an old woman doesn't mix
up the gas and the break and fall.

Speaker 2 (34:31):
Through the Do you have to have a house that's
like under a road. Sure, you know the cars are
still fly off of the road and then somehow end
up on top of your house. You know you've got
to be below the road. And that's that. Yeah, terrible. Yeah,
So please in the South Bay, guys, just please keep
your head on the swim, careful, don't be old, and
don't be drunk.

Speaker 3 (34:52):
Exactly right, almost not in his right mind, you wish
not in his right mind.

Speaker 2 (34:58):
I'll remember this forever, m local knowledge there everybody.

Speaker 5 (35:03):
Every time I look at the field. Now, I won't
forget it, and like I'll just remember like forever.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
Thank you, thank you, yo, thanks for including that, Rachel,
appreciate that one.

Speaker 2 (35:16):
Got some good stuff you got out there west towards Rachel.
Let me take you for a drinking Elcholo.

Speaker 3 (35:22):
I would suggest going back to find the video too.
Just you can you see the guy who's like on
the corner having a cigarette go as the cargoes flying
behind him, and again old and just lost to Georgia.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
Yes, we'll be back with more great sports talk on
a five seventy l A Sports Air home of the Dodgers,
and we've got the top story of the day, Matt
is tackling nepotism. Next at
