Speaker 2 (00:46):
Dollian Outvic Petros in Money A five seventy LA Sports. Now, Ronnie,
is there another intro in there? Because that one had
Fred in it and after we complained about the inclusion
of Fred, Bob, I believe a men just made a
different intro without Fred and acknowledge the mistake of including Fred.

(01:07):
Wasn't that the one that just played was in there?

Speaker 3 (01:11):
Yeah? But I think Fred still was in the new one, allegedly.
I don't know, mister right. Maybe it was an exploding intro,
you know, maybe Bob goes in and out of the
system and manipulates it could happen.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
I would assume he has that sort of access. I'm
gonna have to investigate.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Well, I mean, I don't want to ask Ronnie. I mean,
after the very arduous jury duty, I don't want to
ask you.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
To play because remember yesterday we replayed it, and I
remember Bob specifically saying all references to Fred have been eliminated.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
This is why we don't have new things. That you
give us a new intro and we play it like
twice every day for a week.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Well, why do we hear it?

Speaker 3 (01:49):
All? Right? There?

Speaker 2 (01:50):
He is, See that's the old one, that's the original one.
We complained about the inclusion of Fred.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
That's not the original, and then.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Bob updated it to make sure that you.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
Talk that's not the original. I don't know. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
I almost feel like I almost feel like it was
a fever dream, Like did I did that really?

Speaker 4 (02:15):
Have no?

Speaker 3 (02:15):
No, I heard the one yesterday. I think Bob went
in and played the old switcheroo. I think that's what
he did. You know, it's like who drained my bank account?
I think that's what he means.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
My translator that's who.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Yeah. Wow, he bought a lot of baseball cards.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Baseball cards, gambling debts. What's happened to all my millions
of dollars? Copy that? So we got that? I mean,
I think it's a mystery. I know you like guys.
I hate to interrupt, but I found this. Thanks Bob
for the heads up letting me know where to find
the new one. There we go.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
You know I'm gonna do another coat.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Quere it Fred? Listen, it's a show about a show. Okay,
well look it is a show.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
Let me do it. You know it is what it is, Matt,
I know, I know it is what it is. I
don't want to leave it like this.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Talking on VIC put Trust In Money A five seventy
LA sports Live Everywhere on the iHeartRadio app, a three
and a half hour show. Today we have play by
playback Clipper game. They are hosting the Brooklyn Nets. Adam
Auslin going to be along at six thirty pm for
the pregame tip off at seven thirty. So pretty much
a full petros In Money show.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
Yeah, we got a lot of time, and we have
three hours tomorrow. Matt and I are gonna be out
there hustling and bustling. I hope we don't have a
camera crew following us around like Prince Harry and Megan
Markle the disaster tourists. But the Dream Center in LA
and iHeartMedia, they'll be there together with us and a

(04:00):
bunch of other shows in the cluster, and we've all
teamed up to help those affected by the devastating fires
sweeping across La County, of course, and tomorrow is our
day over at the Dream Center. We always talked to
Pastor Matthew and Clint and the people involved. There's been
rumors of Merrily kazaks Kaoks.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
We need Kazokhs.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Nobody doesn't like Mary Lee.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
And you can bring some serahly non perishable food items.
That is true, nobody or intimates intimens. You want to
bring an oatmeal cream pie, bring it? People need it.
You want to bring the Devil's food cake, bring it?

Speaker 3 (04:39):
Who ate all the intimates?

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Cosmic brownie?

Speaker 3 (04:42):
Yes, I was in line so long. I hate these
intimates and I have nothing to donate. You can help
and donate now at Amy seventy La sports dot com
keyword donate or help us provide immediate relief by bringing
some of those things, non perishable food items, bottled water,
baby supplies for the babies, diapers and wipes and such,

(05:02):
pet food and supplies and hygiene products. Matt and I
are gonna be spitting out deodorant sticks like a dattling gun.
It is going to be very exciting out there tomorrow.
Matt and I have some dance moves that we've been
working on that we're gonna do together. Like think about
like Thriller and The New Kids, you know, kind of

(05:24):
like mixed together.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Well, I was thinking more like Nick Jagger and David
Bowie dancing.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Yeah the way. Yeah, you're right, but you know, I mean,
I mean the New Kids are pretty gay too.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Not nearly as much as Mick and Dave.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
Matt, I'm gonna start singing, and then Matt's gonna, like
every guy grab a girl, and then Matt's gonna pop
out of one of the windows in the Dream Center
and go everywhere around the world.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
It's gonna be amazing. We're gonna wear some super cool
silk shirts tucked into our pleated pants.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
To do a sprinting Millie Vanilli chest bump heck to
start the show. Eh, you know, it's true, true, Hello
are you?

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Kate's three to six pm? Come see us, Come help us.
We need your muscles, we need your energy, we need
your sweat equity, we need it all.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
We don't need your choreography though we got.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
That figured out laid out. Don't step to us, shouldn't we?

Speaker 3 (06:27):
Alvin Ailey couldn't come and tell us how to dance.
We know how to freaking dance.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
I'm wearing my toe shoes.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
Oh, it's gonna be sweet, Kate's, what plans do we
have for the show other than interpretive body movement tomorrow?

Speaker 5 (06:41):
There's gonna be a lot of guests on the show.
Hope to hear from our friend Justin Turner over the phone.
He will not be in person, but he is a
big part of the Dream Center.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
I had to hit them with that at KFI this morning.
Oh yeah, they were talking about the Dream Center and
our decades long association on KFI said you know who
started that is soci and they're like who I said,
Justin Turner and then Amy King in the newsroom, who
wasn't even on at the time, crack the mic was like, oh,

(07:11):
like like that girl. When Matt was speaking of talking
Italian like Robert de Niro.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
I love that girl, he love I think that was Kazaks,
Yeah it was.

Speaker 5 (07:24):
I think that was Jamie Lee Curtis that girl.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
It was Jamie Leek.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
Love that girl.

Speaker 5 (07:31):
Justin Turner is supposed to check in tomorrow because he's
doing a match up to one hundred thousand dollars for
the Dream Center. And we check in with Pastor Matthew tomorrow,
and hope to check in with old Frank Clint Carlton,
who works at the Dream Center. You see him all
over social media as one of their faces and voices
trying to get people out there to help out. So
those guys will join you tomorrow and all the people.
We want the people to join us.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Yes, come volunteer. Yes, we want to get a little
supply line going. We're just gonna be tossing cases of
bottled water at your head and you got to catch
it and throw it at the next guy's head until
it finds its way into a window of a car.
It's making its way through the call to set.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
See how am I gonna do the dead and a
live guy burned through the day and break dance like
turbo and break into electric googloo at the same time.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
Oh you can't do a walk and talk. You've been
doing walking talks your whole life. My man, all right,
I know you're nervous. Well I didn't say that. I
was just conn I didn't say I was nervous. You're
nervous as hell. You're sweating like a.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Not nervous, and just don't know where we're supposed to
sit near the show we're gonna get You're gonna.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
Walk in tom We're gonna get Madonna mics.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
My god, you were nervous, and look how great it
turned out. I wasn't that nervous, And yes you were.
You were dying inside. Make sure you bring your in ears. Okay,
we don't want big clunky headphones. Bring your in ears.
We got to Madonna mic. We're gonna be my special,
like my When I put my special ear things on,
I look like the guy from Coldplay, you know, out

(08:58):
there just singing with my ears and playing the piano
and running around the stage. Oh yeah, so it's gonna
be like tomorrow. I might kick over.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
Something from a Children of a Lesser God.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
I might kick over Striker's table, you know, like do
a flying Scissor kick off us like Jesus in the temple,
you know when he saw him selling stuff. Just bring
my staff, you know, and my my bowstaff. I'm looking
forward to this, Matt. The more and more we talk
about it, it's a real opportunity for you and I
to really make our mark in the city.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
That's exactly right. They're going to be talking about us
the Petros and Money Show. Sorry, no room for Valentine,
no room for Striker and Booker.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
Remember when that kid died in the movie, you got
served and they became the Little Saints, you know, not
since that dance crew put together the little and then
they won that dance off. They beat Wade's crew.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
And Lola Wade got served totally.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
Not since that. We are going to serve Striker. We're
going to serve Valan.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
Got no choice, They got no chance. John cole Belt,
see you later. And then when Ding Dong, Tim com
Tim Conway Junior comes in, no chance.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
Oh you know what, I might put a spike strip
out for Karnaway's car.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
He might not even make it in Hey cruise, see
you later.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
Beat it. We're like Prince Harry and Meghan. We're gonna
get all the charity righteousness coming our What.

Speaker 5 (10:21):
Do you want me to call the news cruise? Get
everybody out there, Phil Schuman, all.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
The guys, them all out there, see what we're doing.
Who's opo on? Kiss?

Speaker 4 (10:27):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (10:27):
Jojo? Jojo're gonna have to wear it?

Speaker 3 (10:29):
I think it is. Leave when we leave and we
stop giving out stuff, like right when the show's over,
like right at five point fifty five or whatever. Then
I want the camera crews to just pack it up
in because you know we're done. We're done.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
We're done here, just like Harry and Meghan. And then
I'm gonna take the general like a guy.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
In a wheelchair with his hand out. She just marches
right by, because you know we put the cameras away.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Six o'clock. Mo Kelly rolls up. Sorry, Mom taking the generator?
You're out?

Speaker 4 (10:57):
Hey?

Speaker 3 (10:57):
Can I borrow your children of a lesser god microphone?

Speaker 4 (11:00):
No?

Speaker 3 (11:00):
Mo, you can't, but you're not using it? Sorry, Mo Todd.
It's gross.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
This is my spotlight. It's time for me to be celebrated.

Speaker 5 (11:09):
I asked Bert, do you have Janet Jackson's style headphones
and Mike's?

Speaker 2 (11:14):
And I got back, what tell him? We need a
wireless headset, Mike Combo, send him the black video. Yeah,
on YouTube headsets. We need to be able to have
headsets that are wireless. Yes, send them the Black Cat video.
And I'm gonna wear my Rhythm Nation outfit. Oh what
we both are that comedy cap. This is gonna be great.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
It's really gonna be a great I mean.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
We are going to be start because look, the networks
needs something.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
All right.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
I'm watching KKEL right now, and all I got is
an incredibly energetic sign person. She is incredible. Her facial
expressions are something. Well, I mean they're the only one left.
Everybody else is now on Judge Joe Brown.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
Well, the wind was up last night, but Tim Kates
went out into his yard and he caught the wind
like Cat Stevens and saved everybody threw it back and
so everything now it's all updates and charity updates and
things of that nature right now. So God bless everybody involved.
KFI it's got the latest on the disaster. But the

(12:25):
real latest on the disaster is that Matt and I
are going to be out there dancing like fred is
Stareing Ginger Rogers live at the Dream Center tomorrow. We're
gonna do our kind of show with a great partner,
even though somebody told us we couldn't.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
Do you think celebrities are okay with Drew Barrymore sitting
Chris Kraust, No, it's.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
Constantly in their lap. No, No, it's constantly.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
They can't be like Mary J. Blige has got to
be going, this is gotta stop. Like you have got
to sit like a normal person with your professorial nit
tie plaid vest outfit on We Can't.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
Out of Real nineteen eighties Diane Keaton and Drogyn his
style knowing right now. And you know, it's not that
I don't appreciate that, Matt. There's a lot of you know,
because I cover the headlines here on the show so
you don't have to. That's our model. Appreciate that, And
I cover the headline so you don't have to. And
it's often discussed that Drew is even very self aware

(13:23):
that she gets too close and puts her hands all
over everybody. It's a very natural thing for her to
do because she's very giving physically. Because I'm sure you've
heard Martha Stewart straight up just told her to back off.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
Oh good. During an interview. Oh my god, is that
a Is that dog alive on the couch?

Speaker 3 (13:42):
I'm not watching it. Sorry, I'm trying to watch the
freaking press conference where I don't know why these people,
the sign language people. I don't know what happened in
the letter.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
I know she's something, ain't she?

Speaker 3 (13:55):
They are so demonstrated. I mean, I know that's the job,
but wow, the facial express like is wagging your tongue
around that a sign.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
Language, right, that's the This one's got a real tongue wagons.

Speaker 3 (14:08):
I just don't get it.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
Matt, I don't know, for tongue is too big for
him out.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
Uh you know, I take I take deep offense to that.
Why you know, my tongue is too big for my mouth.
You know that, and you said it on purpose? Uh,
you know what, forget it. We're getting uh quickly before
we get to James Worthy. In the next segment, Ronnie's
back from jury duty, and Ronnie should know. Uh, you know,

(14:33):
Ronnie didn't know that we had the thing changed out.
We had to figure that. And Ronnie should know that
we did play to ed Mono Tuesday yesterday for the
first time since Vick was dispatched. How did it go? Uh, well,
I'm gonna read some texts. Here we go, you know,
and I.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
Brought to you by your so called Toyota dealers. We
make it easy.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
This says one of the great two ed Mono Tuesdays
in a while, and it was, you know, the first
one in a while. Yeah, Colin yee. He did a
great job. He's in the running for permanent position at
two and Mono Tuesday, have a Ronnie Day and then
secret textoso vote and the Big Red theme song was great.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
Sports talk, great sports talk, and that was courtesy of you,
not Colin. Ye. For Ronnie's sake, Colin did not introduce
the Big Red theme song Ronnie and start singing at
Petros did that, and Colin just laughed along and was
widely wildly entertained.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
By podcasting the show from yesterday. Pee. Colin came out
swinging and you and Matt were on your heel. You
had to filibuster with gum jingles, just like Vic philibusters
with nineteen seventies classmates. He may or may not have known.
You guys are freaking out, yakavazzi, y'all. Colin owns you, Yes,
Cosmo Yakavassi.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
So you know, I never thought of it that way.
You just started singing and I got excited.

Speaker 3 (15:51):
I'm glad it went well. So you know, those are
just some things to think about. Yeah, because I thought
it did win. I thought it went well, and I
think that is the important thing. Like because last I remember,
we took a lot of heat, Matt, there's a lot
of heat in the kitchen last right before the break.
You know, we are getting to the finish line of
the year, which really is a slog in many ways.

(16:14):
And we just had a discussion, an on air discussion
about what we were going to do with Tuaedamano Tuesday
now that we don't have VIC and we never came
to a conclusion. We just kind of left it hanging.
But yesterday we were in a moment it felt right,
you know, just like laying with a new woman as

(16:36):
a widower, as Kate's.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
Again, I don't know why you just can't be a
divorcee as opposed to a widower.

Speaker 3 (16:42):
We shouldn't have that first time, you know that you
have sexual intercourse with the new woman, you know, it
feels a little of you'd feel bad, you know, like
you're cheating on Vic. And there was a few moments
there looking into Colin's eyes, laboring over him. Then we
did feel bad, but after a while, you know, we
got the hang of it. You know, it's just natural rhythm.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
Did we Did we ever feel bad? I felt like
I saw that young, supple body and I was like, yeah,
let's go. I don't eveny think twice about those old bones.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
Newbile, young Asian man. Did you play Branded? No? Yeah?
Yeah we did, ye, Yeah, we did everything.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
Oh, Vic must have been crying. I know that somebody's crying.

Speaker 4 (17:33):
And song.

Speaker 3 (17:37):
From me, so let me know.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
Somebody's crying that textiles, So where we just break out
of a song for the hell of it, just to
break out in a dance out at the dream Center tomorrow,
man start dancing.

Speaker 3 (17:55):
Oh you know what, here's a reminder. I almost forgot
we played Branded, This says Colin crushed it until this
blue shoe shot sailed wide left.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
But that also was a That mistake was pretty great
Young virgin getting all set for Christian sex talk in
the month of February, confusing Big leagu Chew with Blue Chew.

Speaker 3 (18:23):
I thought it was a great segment impactful. I thought
it was a great idea to do it. Matt. Yeah,
And you know that's like, you know that first intercourse,
you know, you don't know when where it's gonna happen,
when you're gonna be comfortable enough, and the next thing,
you know, I'd like to do that again. Yeah, you're
like Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger in the Church Tower.
You know, in nine and a half weeks feeling you
feeling each other.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
Hit Color of Night. That's a great movie with that
buck tooth girl. Well, thank you for listening, everybody. We'll
be back with more great sports talk. James Worthy joins
us Neck, Petrosen Money, AM five seventy LA Sports part

(19:07):
of iHeartMedia, and we have partnered with the Dream Center
helping those affected by the devastating fires souping across Los
Angeles County. You can help. You can donate a DAM
five to seventy LA sports dot com keyword donate. You
can come see us tomorrow. Will be out there from
three until six pm. Three to six pm live petros
and Money at the Dream Center. They need donations, They

(19:31):
need your muscles, they need your movie.

Speaker 3 (19:33):
Matt nine dancing like making David.

Speaker 2 (19:37):
Shaking ass is what we'll be doing. They need non
perishable food items, bottled water, baby supplies, diapers, wifes, pet food,
pet supplies, personal hygiene products. All needed and you volunteer.
Sweat Equity three to six pm tomorrow. Will be out
there pee right now. James Worthy is driven by Ford.
If there is one thing we like, it is choices.

(19:58):
Find yours with Ford F one fifth the gas hybrid
or all electric tough. This smart can only be called
F one fifty.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
The Great James Worthy joining us right now. We talked
to him last week. He was measured and heartfelt and
experiencing the same things as many of our neighbors. Just
because you're a Hall of Famer doesn't mean you're immune
to the things that happen in La. James Worthy, Emmy

(20:29):
Award winner, just a great person and one of our
favorite people to talk too week in and week out
about NBA basketball. James, how are you? How's everything going?
Wild week? But thanks for doing it today?

Speaker 4 (20:44):
Yeah, a wild week and you know things are settling
down a little bit, but pick it up in other
areas with these strong winds. And I truly appreciate the
message you guys are putting out about support. I mean
that supports to be great instantly, but I'm thinking six months,

(21:04):
a year, a year and a half down the line,
we really have to continue to lean on each other
until we get this right. So that's where I am.

Speaker 3 (21:13):
Yeah, the community is important, and the community, like we
talk about all the time, moves a lot faster than
the government. One thing that happened, Yeah, one thing that's
really beautiful that happened was the Michael Cooper event. While
we've been not talking over the week. What a special

(21:34):
night for all you guys to get together. How gratifying
was that? And man Coop seemed like he was just
on cloud nine.

Speaker 4 (21:42):
I got to tell you when it happened to me,
it was a great feeling. But I got to tell
you I felt happier, more excited, and you know, almost
in tears when Michael Cooper was inducted into the Hall
of Fame and then when he had his jersey retire,
because I think he deserved it more. I mean, I know,

(22:02):
I had a great career and I know, but he's
the type of guy that was like the pulse of
our teams, you know, I think he was an eight
time defensive, first team defense. I mean he was a
Defensive Player of the Year. Uh and he was first
team defensive, you know, on that team many times. And
you know he I knew I had Larry Bird for

(22:24):
like three and a half quarters and then I know
I had a big relief. I just turned him over
to Coop in the in the and uh so and
get it in for defense. It's rare. Uh. It just
goes to show you his commitment and dedicated and the
respect that he has in the basketball world.

Speaker 2 (22:43):
And what is that, James? You mentioned it? You could
you know, like you said, you'd carry Larry Bird for
three and a half quarters and you turn over is it?
It can't just be want and it can't just be
effort and commitment. There's got to be uh, some talent
to it. What goes into being a defensive player at
the level like Coop was.

Speaker 4 (23:03):
I mean, you gotta think karate head, sweep the leg baby,
I mean Coop was.

Speaker 3 (23:08):
I mean Coop was.

Speaker 4 (23:09):
I mean he was physical, all one hundred and sixty
five pounds of him. Uh. You know, he could not
you couldn't pick him. I thought I played hard, but
there were times where you know, I knew Larry had me.
You know, I knew, you know, the way they ran
those pins and the way he had all those options.
But Cooper was was was like a shadow of a

(23:30):
defensive player. And you know, we knew in those last
four or five minutes, you know we needed that. And
Larry Byrd is the one that said Michael Cooper was
the toughest defensive player he got up against. He was fearless,
and he was just you know, he was just a
minister of defense.

Speaker 2 (23:50):
Is is there just no room for that in today's
And I'm not saying guys don't play D. We know
a D is a really good defender, and you hear
about three and D guys, but I kind of think
back to, you know, the the Lakers Celtics showdown and
Tony Allen or you know, the most recent Celtics team
with like Marcus Smart and those guys, just feels like

(24:10):
we don't have the perimeter. I know you have some
three and D guys, but it feels like it's a
lot more three and a lot less D. When you
watch games, do you feel like there's still guys that
are defensive specialists that can make it in this league?

Speaker 4 (24:22):
Right? Now not like not like Bobby Jones and Sidney
Montcrease and and you know, uh, those guys were so tough.
You mentioned, you know, Maury's cheeks was was a good one.
And you know there there's been so many that were
in college long enough to learn defense, and emphasis was

(24:46):
put on defense, particularly guards and small forwards. I mean
it still is. You have, you know a lot of
switching and picking rolls and switching and a lot of
so it's like it's kind of a lazy defense to me.
So they're they're not that any players that you know
emulate that type of play. Those that do are are winning,

(25:06):
you know, the Holidays, you know, the guys like that.
You know with the Eco Dowels back, you know he
was in you know, Goden State. You have a few.
But it's trending away from defensive stoppers. I love that
Max Christie has decided that he's that type of player,
but it's trending away from that because the three ball

(25:27):
it's so important. I mean, I mean I've never been
taken out for not shooting a three, you know what
i mean. It's just it's different.

Speaker 3 (25:36):
The great James Worthy joining us on the Petro Sand
Money Show. Since we talked, the Lakers have dropped some games,
and obviously, you know, coach Reddick lost his house and
you know, his families didn't been displaced. It's been a
wild week in the city. But there is a pro
basketball team and what have you seen that. I mean
that that spurs kind of collapse had to be pretty disappointing.

Speaker 4 (26:01):
It was, and you know, look, the guys, we're back
home for I they got ten days I believe at home.
The fire was devastating. Everybody had to go through that. Uh.
They did postpone a couple of games to allow everybody
to you know, take a breath. Uh. So, I mean

(26:23):
it's it's starting to be and you know, look the
fire and all that set aside. Okay, we we know
what that's all about. But to play on the court,
to have a lead and then to give it up
like that, it's starting to to to to be you
really concerning, uh and disappointed at the same time, because
we've seen this trend before, you know, and so you

(26:48):
know the greatness of you know, Lebron and you know,
a d and all that that's you know, and then
the Laker nostalgia all that, you know, we we still
have to talk about that, but we're not winning, and
we're not you know, we're not showing like that kind
of consistency that we need. So, you know, and this

(27:09):
any coming in here tonight, you know how they are,
they're going to be, you know, ready to get busy
in LA and attack. So the Lakers, you know, you're
going to have them off nights, but these aren't off nights.
These are like, you know, poor effort sometimes lack of
you know, not paying attention to details. I hear a

(27:30):
coach talking about that's not what we talked about. He's
not you know, so yeah, I see it too, and
so it's starting to concern a little bit.

Speaker 2 (27:40):
It's only they moved the trade deadline ups were only
about three weeks out from from that. Talking about maybe
ten games, I think ten twelve games, probably about ten games.
Just kind of your thoughts, James, do you see them
doing something.

Speaker 4 (27:56):
Well, like you know, they need you know, I got
say I like I like Fatniy Smith, I do. He's
got some dog in him, kind of like vander Belt.
So I you know, I'm hoping that they can get
Vanderbilt back from hearing some things. Finally that he's you know,
having some full contact and things like that. I don't

(28:18):
know if a trade it's it's going to change that much.
I mean, you might get a better player. I say,
if you get a that's just the hypothetical, or you
get Butler or somebody like Crazy or Fox. You know,
you got to give up your Now you've got to
give up first round picks. You got to give up
three or four players. We've been through that before. So

(28:40):
I don't know if that's quite gonna do it this year.
It could if you get a dynamic player that fits in. Uh,
you still got to go through Oklahoma, Denver. You know,
you still got some teams to go through.

Speaker 3 (28:52):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (28:53):
So you know, the Lakers are need to decide that
they can win with what they have and just do
the right things to to in the right direction, get
more confidence they play with anybody. They've proven that. But
this disappearing you know from time to time, is it's
not cool?

Speaker 2 (29:11):
You mentioned the heat there in town tonight. We always
hear about heat culture and starts to the top. Hat Rally,
who had this consistency with Spoe as they're head coach
through you know, some different iterations of the team won
a couple of finals with Lebron and then made a
couple of finals with Jimmy Butler, even though they lost them. Like,

(29:31):
what do you think it is about Heat culture and
kind of what goes into that? And because you never
really hear Laker culture. We used to hear it when
you run it because it was showtime Lakers. You knew
exactly what you were going to get and what brand
of basketball you were going to get and it was
going to breed winning as well. But sort of what
goes into that and why is it always just kind
of associated with the Heat and why can't we get
Laker culture going?

Speaker 4 (29:52):
Well, we'll also you know, he just to a Laker
cultures in New York with Patrick Ewan. They just could
never they just could never get past Chicago. And he
took it to Miami. I remember earlier when he was there,
hard Away, Tim Hardaway and a couple uh I think
the name was Eddie Jones, Ye, Mourning.

Speaker 2 (30:12):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (30:14):
They were they were asking me, you know, ty rally Man,
what's tell us about him? I was like, yeah, you
go play some defense. Your practice is going to be
hard as hell. He's gonna be very demanding in the
off season, how you come back in shape, he's you know,
so that's it, and it transfers over into the basketball
court rebounding defense, and in today's game, you know, he's

(30:36):
learned to add attack with the three ball, so he's
taking it's still defensive rebounding, but you know, he's adjusted
to the the new style of hitting threes and attacking.
So there's nothing new to to a lot of us.
But that's that's what's been winning. And you know the
Lakers are you know, uh not not as consistent and

(30:59):
kind of lose it that that reputation of having that
you know, that dominance like you know, they you used
to always could depend on a hard pot game and
probably a loss if you're playing the Lakers, but now
it's you know, I don't know, don't you know.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
The great James Worthy is our guest. I saw trending
on social media James that you know, how how can
the Golden State Warriors save their season? What can they do?
And it's interesting that they're not the juggernaut of the
last decade or you know in recent memory. What what
is the biggest impact of that dynasty under Steve Kerr

(31:41):
in their time? And do you think the Golden State
Warriors will ever rise up again in the next you know,
ten fifteen years.

Speaker 4 (31:52):
In order to create that kind of dynasty, I mean
with the legacy started with Showtime. Uh, it has to
start with the domination of a decade. They've done that,
and then you know, you got to and then how
do you change you know, Uh, they traded play. They're
going through that process right now, you know, and I'm

(32:14):
sure they're looking at you know, trades and you know,
what would work with staff for I don't know, two
three years, two or three more years. I don't know
how much he has left in the tank. What works,
you know. So, uh, it takes it takes more than
winning four championships to create that kind of you know

(32:36):
dominance over time that the Lakers had it with, you know,
with Tobe and Chef in the eighties, and so they're
trying to regain it, you know as we speak. So, uh,
they're going to have to you know, go get rid
of some players, break it down, start over, you know,
you know, maybe not start all over again, because you

(32:57):
still got staff and some you know, some pretty good
players there. But yeah, they're gonna have to break it
down and rebuild and or enhance it. And you know,
the Lakers are, you know, in the same boat. If
they can't, if they can't win, what they have.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
Will come full circle here, James, as we close it out.
You know, last time we talked to you, you thought maybe,
you know, you'd be told you had to get out
of the house and all that sort of stuff. Just
kind of how things are going out there, and I
would assume just kind of seeing you walk around the
neighborhood has got to lift some people's spirits. You know
how important sports are to people, and it's kind of
a way for the whole community to come together.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
It really is, you know, leaning on one another in
a time of crisis. It's settled down in Brentwood quite
a bit. You know, the golf course has still closed
where I play around Mountain Gate, but seeing people walking
their dogs. I've seen some people who have been evacuated
who are moving in with neighbors and friends and so

(33:55):
we're you know, we're just trying to do everything became.
The Lakers have done a great job supporting the firemen
and uh those who live here in Los Angeles and
those that come from uh, you know, out out of
other states and countries. So we'll get through this. It's
it's it's it's not gonna be easy, but it is
nice to see some you know, seeing you know kids,

(34:17):
you know, getting back outside, trying to figure out where
they're going to uh, you know, go to school and
and and that type of thing. That's the tough part
going forward. But we'll survive and we'll make we'll make
we'll make way for for people to continue to live.
So uh, that's that's who La is with City of
Angels and and the City of Champions, so we'll get

(34:38):
through this.

Speaker 3 (34:39):
A great man and a great person James Worthy, Uh,
I guess that's the same thing, and uh a great
basketball analyst. Emmy Award winner. Enjoy them tonight, Hunt Spectrum.
Thank you, James. We sure appreciate you.

Speaker 4 (34:52):
You got to enjoy guys.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
James Worthy, driven by forward. One thing we like, it's
choice to just find yours with Ford f one fifty
Guess hybrid or all electric tough. This smart can only
be called half one fifty, So God damn coming along.

Speaker 3 (35:07):
Yeah, David Vassi is gonna tell us about Sasaki rookie
and what the latest is there and how bad do
you want him?

Speaker 2 (35:14):
Got Justice with Sweet James coming up, jan all this
insurance stuff.

Speaker 3 (35:18):
Talk about the fire, the red tape, the FEMA, the FEMA,
your seven hundred bucks and your femur. How many two
by forrests can I buy with seven hundred bucks to
rebuild my host two? How much Glenngary Glenn Ross aluminum
siding can I purchase going siding? Forget it, Jake, it's Chinatown.

(35:43):
We'll be right back on the Peterson Money Show with
a couple of breaking news items.

Speaker 2 (35:50):
Next, big thank you to James Worthy of joining us.
Last segment, get into the international signing period having opened
today in baseball with David basse In about forty minutes,
talk about the Dodgers moves, teams already signing big money

(36:13):
deals with other international free agents than US giants got
the number one shortstop on the international market already today.
So we'll see whether or not Sasaki signs today or
down the road, and what Dave expects. And then some
justice with Sweet James. Did a heck of a job
last week talking about insurance companies how to navigate that mess.
Probably get a little deeper into that today as well.
About an hour from.

Speaker 3 (36:33):
Now, you know, Matt, we do have some news. A
couple of USC Trojan types in the news today. Dennis Thurman,
the guy that recruited me to play at USC and
had a lifelong relationship with him, a player, coach and friendship.
Now the defensive coordinator of the University of Hawaii for

(36:56):
Timmy Chang DT longtime Rex Ryan with the Jets. Hey,
he'd probably go back to pro football. Rex Ryan the job,
and Baltimore coached there as well. Dennis Thurman was an
All Pro, not just Pro Bowl or All Pro when
a Super Bowl champion with the Dallas Cowboys, and he

(37:17):
was an All American at USC at a Santa Monica
High school. Let's go Vikings. Dennis Thurman one of my
favorite people that I've ever been around in football. We've
had a great relationship for many years, and he is
going into the College Football Hall of Fame. So congratulations
to coach Thurman. Wonder. Yeah, that's awesome news for him

(37:37):
and coach some great dbs when I was at you know,
throughout his career. But when I was at USC, we
had Brian Kelly and Dala McCutcheon on either side, who
are still five hundred and Matt. Also, remember Taylor Mays.

Speaker 2 (37:52):
Speaking of USC, DBS certainly was supposed to be drafted
by Pete Carroll went to Cincinnati instead. Pomis was the
safety Pete Carroll right.

Speaker 3 (38:03):
And he's had some troubles.

Speaker 2 (38:05):
Yes, Earl.

Speaker 3 (38:07):
Taylor Mays, who like along with Darnell Bing And I'm
trying to think of somebody else, But those two safeties
were supposed to be Ronnie Lott and Cadillac Cleveland Colter
Mark Carrier, whoever you want to mention in the USC
pantheon of great safeties. I mean, they weren't bad players,

(38:30):
but they certainly didn't live up to the super All
American Pete Carroll. Hype Taylor Mays, whose dad played at Washington,
is going to be the safeties coach at you Dub cool.
He was a second round pick, three time All American
at USC. Wow, Taylor Mays. I don't think he's going

(38:52):
in the College Football Hall of Fame even though he
was a three times.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
Ends up getting to Seattle on a different career prep.

Speaker 3 (39:00):
Speaking of the Northwest, Matt, one of the greatest movies
ever about the Northwest is Not Singles, though that's not
a bind film, Not a bad movie. I think we
can all agree it's it's Goonies, right, not even close. Right.
They're trying to remake Goonies. Warner Brothers trying to remake Goonies.
They don't need to do that. Well. I mean, I

(39:20):
don't want to see Goonies like you know, I don't
want to see the modern progressive.

Speaker 2 (39:24):
Goonies cgi special effects.

Speaker 3 (39:28):
You know, data doesn't get to have an accent. Think
about it, I mean, honestly, think about it. You're gonna
put Feldman in that new movie, dancing around like Michael Jackson.

Speaker 2 (39:40):
I mean, Brolin is the big brother, you know, sixteen
year old swool.

Speaker 3 (39:45):
Right, I mean, please leave Goonies alone. But you know
what they look what they did to the Karate Kid.
But what Will Smith did at before.

Speaker 2 (39:53):
He got a new one coming.

Speaker 3 (39:54):
I know, it's terrible, the worst. So they're trying to
remake Goonies. And they're also trying to remake Gremlins, which
I don't care as much about. But that was a
big thing too. Gremlins was a big deal.

Speaker 2 (40:06):
It's a huge deal. Saw it on opening night.

Speaker 3 (40:09):
Right up there with the Cabbage Patch.

Speaker 2 (40:10):
Kids, considerably more violent than parents anticipated being Yeah, they
thought it was gonna be kind of a cute, little
kid's horror film, and then you know, entrails are spilling
out of people's stomachs.

Speaker 3 (40:22):
You're absolutely right, Matt Smith, like, what the hell.

Speaker 2 (40:26):
These things? Normally Itchima was so cute? These things are badass.

Speaker 3 (40:33):
Yeah, it was a heck of a it was. It
was a shock to people, you know, and then everybody
started freaking out about water and you know midnight, you know,
all the different things. Uh so those are those are
a couple of terrible things that just I mean, if
they remake Goonies.

Speaker 2 (40:47):
Remember well, that's the other thing. Do you remember in Gremlins.
I knew there was something weird about it when like
they're having their first little romantic interlude and gosh, who
was it?

Speaker 4 (40:57):
Was?

Speaker 2 (40:57):
It Connolly who was the star of I can't remember
her name, but she was like the Exactlynny, Thank you
Fast times a Ridgebond High. And Phoebe's like, yeah, you know,
my dad dressed up like Sanna and he came down
the chimney and he broke his neck and he was dead.
I remember that, What the hell your dad is dead
because he tried to be Santa come down the chimney.

Speaker 3 (41:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (41:18):
It was the weirdest body was dead.

Speaker 3 (41:20):
It was like Howard the Duck, When all of a
sudden the duck.

Speaker 2 (41:23):
Has sat it starts banging the chick.

Speaker 3 (41:25):
Nice Leah Thompson. Man, I got a couple of texts
for you here, but congratulations.

Speaker 2 (41:32):
Brought to you by your so called Toyota dealers.

Speaker 3 (41:34):
We make it easy, but not you Warner Brothers. Leave
those movies alone. Uh, don't tell money. But I'm in
the Ramiley now, oh man, the front. That's what you
could expect.

Speaker 2 (41:47):
I temporarily you can be in the Ramley a little temporary.
Well what if they what if? What if Saquon Barkley
does to them what he did to him like six
weeks ago? Then you're still in the Ramley? Are you
just kind of hanging out and having dinner? And then
that castro has not already done?

Speaker 3 (42:03):
Seriously sick At UCLA basketball, no one gives an s
and we certainly don't need to have every effing game
on the radio with a pre half and post. It's idiotic. Honestly,
college basketball sucks. Players aren't that good, and the games
don't warrant preempting everyday live programs. I'm sorry, sir, that's
not what the contract says. No, you're screaming in the wind.

Speaker 2 (42:26):
And I don't know if I want to live in
a world where UCLA basketball is met with such derision.
It's UCLA basketball, green SATs.

Speaker 3 (42:33):
Sure nobody wants to drive to poly Pavilion anymore, but
that doesn't mean anything.

Speaker 2 (42:38):
That's the logistics in traffic conversation. You get that on
KFI Am six forty.

Speaker 3 (42:44):
Man. I woke up to this one this morning. Petros,
only you might understand the power in this Number One,
the LA community needs healing. Number two, Mayans understand the
sacred form of Dodger Stadium. Three Mayan's lead an ecumenical
service at Dodger Stadium. It will work. Brother, Only you

(43:06):
can see the wisdom of the ghostbusters. Inadvertently, we have
created a vortex. I have felt it every time I
see the field in person. You have two. This is real.
Please God bless So we need a Mayan service to
cleanse Dodger Stadium's shape because.

Speaker 2 (43:24):
It created a vortex, and that's why the fires came.

Speaker 3 (43:29):
I believe that's what it's alluding to. Interesting, now, Matt,
you're not the only guy that takes incoming on the text.
So so let me read this one for you, you
slothable communist, malcontent. You don't want to go to jury duty. Fine,
throw away the summons. Legally questionable and disreputable, but fine.
You've made it clear of the last twenty years on

(43:50):
the radio that you're lazy. But you have a classic
film the type what you claim to be the utmost enthusiast,
A film that has a title that could describe you
and eleven their voices in your head. A film starring
Henry Fonda, Jack Warden, Jack Coldman, and Freeing Ed Bagley,

(44:10):
Ed Begley Junior's father, and you think William Holden is
in it. On top of that, you insult the writing
of Nobel Prize winning California favorite son John Steinbeck. I'm
yelling at I'm yelling at Big Doobie smoking John Hayman.
I can't believe it. You better pray to your Greek

(44:30):
Orthodox God and offer a udo plate in Dolmades to
call and yee for saving your ass and being the
best participant of two ed Mono Tuesday. Ever, you have
brought shame upon your Greek agoraphobic face, I concur it's
a real attack on meds. Yeah, and domthera sacrifice and

(44:57):
finally Matt apologies. Quentin Lake is a real smooth talking
football player. Oh wow, this is so good.

Speaker 2 (45:07):
That was Kate's with ninety texts.

Speaker 3 (45:09):
Scott's incredible, We'll be right with your dad and a
live guy. Oh no, excuse me, we got that in
the next hour. Coming up next will be the Doors
Number song Sweet James and David Vasse on the Sasaki
sweep to States. The Sasaki sweep States
