Speaker 3 (01:30):
TNT ain't free. It costs folks like you and me,
exactly right. All right, Well, it was a terrible all start, terrible.
We are your home of the Dodgers, though, and they
have great promise, the Dodgers terrible, the doctor moving the needle,
and it is the most anticipated Dodger Spring training of
all time, which is hard to believe given that they
have show. He Otani last year make his debut and

(01:53):
everybody went catatonic. This year it's more so. And David
vasse is there. He is hunkered down doing his thing.
So David Vassa will join us at the five o'clock hour,
and then he's got Dodger Talking. I think Blake trying
to nice is going to join him on Dodger Talk.
Mark Mandeen is going to join us next and I'm concerned.
Do you think he's gonna defend the NBA? I don't

(02:14):
want to hear it. I don't want to fight with
him because I don't believe in fighting.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
They're nice enough to come up.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
Well, you let him say what they say, I say,
say I say, But just write a song like that.
I'm a little concerned. A song like what I'm gonna
say what I say, I know, I say, I'll say
I know, I say what I know.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Sounds kind of like fifty cent meets Nelly.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
I'm gonna say what I know.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
It's hard to hear it.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
Donald Trump, let me manna.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
And then what I want you to do is I
want you to sing over the track because you really
don't know how to deliver the lyrics live. Oh you're
weird technicogy.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
I'm gonna say what I know.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
I say.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Oh, is this supposed to be a harmony. No, he's
supposed to match the track underneath him. He just can't
do it. Here's no sense of timing.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
About that, which was fine. It certainly wasn't like watching
DJ Quake or Sugar Free. I'll give you that. You're
right there. So baseball is important this week. We're gonna
run our first game on Thursday. We're gonna run our
first Dodger Talk from Camelback Ranch tonight at seven o'clock.
David Vassa will join us next we'll try to get

(03:22):
a little bit more milk out of the All Star
teat this hour and next hour. It's the story of
to day, it's the story of the year. The NBA sucks, yes,
and that's a bit of a story since five years ago.
He's like, hard luck to hire, and I'm silver to
fix the PEC twelve. It's like, okay, yeah, this guy sucks.

(03:43):
He's no Larry Scott, He's no David Stern. Oh my,
that's for sure.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
He might be better than Larry Scott. He might be
better than Larry Scott.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
All Right, Matt, it is time for his words. The
word of the day, and today's word is one of
the headlines. Matt. What are the headlines? Yes, Matt, big
story here?

Speaker 2 (04:04):
What should the headline be?

Speaker 3 (04:05):
Today? Sports? That's all we think about.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
Here's the other story nobody's talking about.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
You know, I'm not a racist. I mean I hope
you do. What's reaction? He's a bad headline? What are
the headlines? Another NFL Superstar player seems to have fallen
victim to dating a celebrity. Now, listen, I'm not saying
I know what it's like to be in the NFL
in twenty twenty five, but I do know this. Dating

(04:32):
one of these chicks is not going to help you.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
How big of a superstar are we talking?

Speaker 3 (04:38):
Pretty big?

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Is that right?

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Stefon Diggs? Okay, pretty big? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Considered one of the five best hops in the league
for a while.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
From Maryland, played at Maryland Let's gook terps. It has
been with the Vikings, the Bills are now Houston got
hurt this year.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
It's going to be a free agent Diggs.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
Digs Man is rumored to be spending amorous time with
the Rosie Perez of the twenty first century?

Speaker 2 (05:12):
Can I guess who the Rosi Perez of the twenty
first century is? Reely said Ariana Grande. No, I don't
think she is sinking squeaky voice.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
I don't think Ariana Grande is in physical shape for
sexual relations. She'd be broken because she's really lost a
lot of her girth and she wasn't much there to
begin with. A lovely girl. Wayfish is maybe even a
bit of an understatement. Eely, very annoying voice. East Coast

(05:43):
Dominicano Puerto Rican vibe even though she's not Puerto Rican.
Cardi b Ah rapper and former stripper, alleged criminal and toot.
But again that's alleged. Although I did believe she said
she used to poison and her or like subdue her

(06:04):
escort guys and then take their money.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
She did say that's something good to admit to.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
Anyway, she's Dominican and Trinidadian and she is apparently wrangled
Stefon Diggs. Now, I once remember in a time where
social media was more friendly, as Markazi finding his way
to a VIP area in a club shock and dancing,

(06:31):
you know, while taking a selfie, was said Cardi B.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
That was Pekarash, It really was, had the helicopter tour guys.
It was all over Vegas. He was mister Vegas.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
Before he was shot down like a Chinese spy balloon.
You want to go to CoA, I'll get you in.
I know the doorman say, Arash, how do you have
this whole group of really insecure sportscaster chicks that hang
around with you? I pay, okay, but like just pay
for the night.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
I know what you mean.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
I don't pay them like Cardi B. And then they
drug me and take my stop. No one could see that.
Who can fit these clothes? Anyway. The couple the new couple,
Cardi B and Stefan Diggs, which is more of an
East Coast couple map. But I'm trying to be you know,
if we're gonna sit here and make a big thing
out of the white folks, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelcey,

(07:28):
you know, we we have to celebrate all people here,
like the White House, creole, excuse you, the Red House. Anyway.
The couple, the new couple was seen out and about
in Miami on Valentine's Day and they were seen checking
into a hotel at three in the morning. You know
they're gonna have sex. And then they were out last

(07:50):
week at a New York City nightclub. So Cardi B
and Stefan Diggs, you put that in your memory on
your way to the combine.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
Good luck.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
She recently follow Yeah, she recently filed for divorce from
her rapper baby daddy Offset and now she's with Digs.
I wouldn't do this, Digs, you dig. I would not
do this. Dig that dig that beat that's coming out
of my mouth Stefan, there's other ladies out there. I
called a couple of your games at Maryland. I know

(08:18):
you better than anybody. Anybody he has a daughter floating
around two. So there's a headline for you, Matt, Happy
President's Day. Cardi B. Yeah it's not just Travis Kelce
and Taylor Swift were wearing matching Babay shirts. No, Cardi B,
Cardi B, and Stefan Diggs.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
When I was searching for the name Cardi B, would
you like to know the name that popped into my head?
But I just couldn't bring myself to say it. I
was going to Rosie Perez of Today, Yes, and I
don't she's in a political statement. It's just the name.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
Remember Rosie Perez popping her pee right before do the
right thing, dancing all crazy? Yeah? Remember that hell of
a time.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
I don't know why, but I was like, is AOC
dating se Font Diggs Alexandria Cassio Cortez.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
I think she's with Musk. I think that it's come
that far all the way around the other way.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
I'd be something.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
You're really opening up to me.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Elon your number of the day. Here's my number.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
Number of the day.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
Numer The day is one hundred and fifteen left this
out of howard your weekend for time sake, I got
a six am Central time flat out of Birmingham.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
This isn't the knocking over the people in the wheelchairs
to make to make your connection. This is not you're
a little bit of pushback on the textiles, so they
were not. I can't wait till MAT's in a wheelchair
and he has empasy.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
The wheelchair people were sitting and waiting to be ushered
off the plane into their wheelchairs and up the tarmac
or up the jetway. I get a six am Central
time flat out of Birmingham. I'm looking to push it
a little bit. Get a little extra sleep, Fifteen minute
drive to the airport from the hotel, twenty minutes to
shower real quick, get out of their boarding starts at
five point thirty. Get to the airport by five ten.

(10:03):
I figure that's fine. Set the alarm for four forty,
pass out right after the hockey game. All is well,
fall right asleep even though it's like eight thirty pm
LA time, and then all of a sudden, I'm awakened,
like many of us when we're not in our own
bed at one forty five am. Some a hole in

(10:24):
the room next to me at at Airport Hotel, not
Airport Downtown. I'm right, I'm on campus at UAB the
UAB Hill.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
I've stayed at that Go Blazers. I wake up.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
I hear people screaming, and I'm like, son of a bitch,
I got this thirty second inner dialogue. How do I
want to play this? Don't want to pound, I don't
want to screaming. They're just yelling. Where in their room?
Next to you? Next to me? I've got adjoining room,
so I can hear it pouring under the door. They
screaming like U do I scream back?

Speaker 3 (10:55):
Ah?

Speaker 2 (10:55):
Do I let it ride?

Speaker 3 (10:56):
I have a screaming contest. I'm beating you.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
Do I pull the pillow over my ear? Do I
call the front desk? Yeah, that's a move, right, And
in those thirty seconds of decision making, what sounds like
a g damn truck runs into the wall of the hotel.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
Oh, physical physical contact.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
And I'm like the hell. I open the drapes, I
look outside and it's the freaking storm of the century.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
Oh really hit me, Ronnie.

Speaker 4 (11:29):
So let's come back down to the south, and we'll
check out what's going on in central Alabama. Severe thunderstorm
warnings in effect now for Tuscaloosa and for Walker Counties.
These warnings are because of what's happened already to the west.
We're getting wind gus measured at airports in the neighborhood
of fifty to sixty, but there are probably some gusts
along the line here that are going quite a bit

(11:51):
higher than that. So here's WVTM thirteen live Doppler radar.
There are severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings stretching all the
way from southern Middle Tennessee across the northwestern border of
Alabama and then into eastern Mississippi too. So this is
tire line here is warned for severe weather. And like
I said a few minutes ago, and Coleman and Birmingham

(12:13):
and Alabaster and Clinton Centerville, you got about an hour
to make sure your devices are charged, prepare for power outages,
just in case the strongest of the wind knocks it down.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
Uh, there is a big ass branch that I can
see in the middle of the street. The flag is
barely holding on by a thread. It is full on
sideways and it sounds like the hotel is going to
get ripped off of its freaking foundation. I opened the
weather app. I click on the Birmingham. It says tornado
warning e F two severe emergence.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
Anybody tell you about this? In the bar at the
dream laughing the guy that you got a coke for nothing?
Gus could reach one hundred and fifteen to give him
a coke miles an hour. Take shelter immediately. They're just
used to it.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
The people in the room next to me are freaking out.
That's why they're screaming, because why they have to throw
themselves up against the walls. So I don't know what
to do. No, I think it was just the wind
of the tornado.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
Do you think it was debris?

Speaker 2 (13:08):
I think it was debris. I called the front desk.
Maybe Trent dilferd gets sucked up in that, and I
say yes, I was like, catch, I'm looking at my
weather rap. Here it says we're supposed to take shelter.
Am I supposed to go to a basement here? And
and it's a female and says, oh, honey, everything's fine,
You're just going back to bed. It'll pass. It's just
a storm. Okay, I guess it'll pass.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
You're fine. Man.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
Took me about thirty minutes to fall back asleep go
and managed to get a couple more hours in.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
It.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
Yes, uh, but again, don't trust the Apple weather rap
because it says severe e F category two tornado shelter
immediately in.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
Clement weather is a lot more real in other parts
of the past. And my biggest, uh, my big moment
of realization with that is when I got off the
plane in Oklahoma City once often tell this story, and
for sale in the airport shop was a T shirt
with a picture of a tornado on it and it
said the words bring it, And that was kind of like,

(14:16):
let's not bring it. How about we don't bring the
thing that'll suck you up into a funnel, rip your
limb from limb, and drop you in various terrible suburbs
of Oklahoma City.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
That's where I miss California. That's how you feel about it?

Speaker 3 (14:30):
Well, why do I want to bring it? Where are
we gonna bring and bring it to what? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (14:33):
Bring it to Birmingham at freaking one am and make
it sound like the UA B. Hilton's gonna get freaking
knocked over and there's a giant tree in the middle
of the road outside my window.

Speaker 3 (14:42):
Alabama's the new Kansas for tornadoes.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
I experienced it firsthand, and I survived to tell the tape.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
Not all heroes where capes, mat. I mean, you gave
a guy a ride, right, and you survived in a
terrible weather event to tornado. You're not gonna talk to
me like that, will turn your back on me. I
started back the giant weather event in Alabama, along with
hundreds of thousands of other people that weren't even phased
by it.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
Oh, that's no big deal, honey, Just go on back,
ye grand mother man.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
Okay, honey, you should have Honey, you should have been
here when Sherman came through.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
It's all right, I guess I'm going back to bed.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
RNNY.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
This is the song of the day.

Speaker 5 (15:26):
Today's song of the day is called Pony Up from
the band Kings of Leon because and I'm a horse.
Monday is underway on the Petros and Money Show, Indeed,
where it's time to shake off the dust and pony
up for a journey that'll take us through four full
hours of great sports talk while the setting sun will
lead us into spring training. Dodger Talk with our dear

(15:47):
friend David Vasse, who has finally made his way out

the latest Dodger news and information at seven o'clock.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
So you running.

Speaker 2 (16:00):

gonna say the times no athletic athletic I think is
Sammy Nick Daily News. I think he works for the
League USA Today, NBA dot Com. I don't know. Let's
look up real quick.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
He's not going to attack the All Star Game if
he works for the NBA.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
Let's see.

Speaker 3 (16:24):
We have to have everybody in line today, Matt.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
It's like Hannity, longtime NBA anybody USA Today? That's twenty
one NBA dot Com.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
The call is coming from inside the house. Call Mark
Medina will join us day.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
That's yourw some money and five seventy l A Sports
Live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app. Full shows today Tomorrow Wednesday,
We'll have UCLA basketball tomorrow that tips off at seven
thirty against Minnesota. Him at Cronin searching for career win
number five hundred, should he secure it? I would imagine
we will speak with Mick at some point this week,
and if we can't, we accept it. Mick, whatever time's

(17:15):
good for you is good for us. We're like a
mistress and that's the basketball we love.

Speaker 3 (17:19):
We're waiting here in the hotel whenever you can come, Honey.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
We'll be here when you're here waiting.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
By the way, I bought some things from Montgomery Ward
on your credit card. I hope your wife doesn't find
the purchases. Well. Thank you. Everybody joining us right now
on your Southern California Toyota Dealers Celebrity hotline is a
little NBA perspective math that maybe he's not as tainted
as ours. Fox Sports NBA insider Mark Medina joins us

(17:52):
to discuss the second half if the All Star weekend
is fixable. Hell, maybe he thinks nothing's wrong with it. Matt,
don't want to assume.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
Let's find out.

Speaker 3 (18:01):
I don't want to assume. Assumption is a real Barry Crocker. Yeah,
it's Mark Medina, old friend of the Petrosen Money Show
on Anti seventy LA Sports, your home of the Dodgers.

Speaker 6 (18:14):
Hi, Mark, Hi, Pat Turst, I'm at hey. You all
assumed correctly. I shared dreamond green sediment that on a
scale of zero to ten and ten being the highest,
it's a zero.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
Yeah, Mark, you're not like just a like when it
comes to a lot of sports, we just hear messing around,
you know. I mean, we're not up in the bowels
of it, and we understand that everything happens for a reason,
and there's a reason for every thing that's either good
or bad. It's not like that they're trying to destroy
their product. But how did it get to this? Like,

(18:46):
how did we get to this point? My god?

Speaker 6 (18:49):
Yeah, how we got to this point is that you know,
I think everyone can agree here that no one should
be playing all out forty eight minutes in tric at
play home and playoff intensity because they want to be
healthy for you know, this playoff push and championships. But
you know, I think that that has gotten the best
of themselves, that there's so many excuses on why that's

(19:13):
become an unwatchable event. All we're asking for is an
entertaining show, and these last few years has maybe more
and more disappointed this because we see all these new tweaks.
We see in honor of the late Kobe Bryant, Hey,
let's have a target score in the fourth quarter for
twenty four and it's competitive for a season, and then

(19:34):
it's a joke for the next season. Oh, let's do
the NBA draft playoff style because that'll be fun, and
then all of a sudden, some players or the league
partners don't like it because now there's all this attention
on who got picked last in the soap opera. My
point being is for every new format, it's embraced for
a year and then it's squashed within it. And I

(19:55):
think that this new format was so bad it wasn't
even embraced the first go round. Everyone saw at the beginning,
how terrible was so my hunch, you know, it isn't
into it tom So for better and for worse we'll
have an up close view of it, is that they'll
go back to East West and we may or may
not have a competitive game. My hunch is it'll be

(20:16):
more of the same.

Speaker 2 (20:17):
Yeah, Mark, you know, the the NFL, it seems as
though finally just gave up and they are, you know,
I would assume it's gonna probably go away sooner than later,
just the Pro Bowl games as opposed to putting what's
supposed to be a competitive contest out there. There's a
lot of theories as to why it's not competitive. Dame
Lillard tried to suggest that it's too late in the season.

(20:39):
Teams more teams are qualifying for the playoffs with the
play in tournament now, and to us, it just feels
like it's literally one half of one more regular season game.
Like that's what we're talking about. You don't you're gonna
play no more than twenty minutes and if you play it,
you know, balls to the wall. It's literally adding one
half of one game to eighty two game schedule. It

(21:01):
does not seem like it's that much that you're putting
on these guys.

Speaker 6 (21:04):
Yeah, and six years ago, Adam Silver actually lengthened the
amount of the All Star Break with the same idea that, okay,
this allows players that are participating All Star weekend a
greater you know, rest up period before this sprint happens.
I think ironically with this new format where you saw
the three games that added more commercial time that actually

(21:27):
did the actual game. So the reality is this, I mean,
any idea that people are throwing, oh, let's just do
away with All Star like it's a non starter. It's
not going to happen, simple reason, because the event brings money.
It's a corporate sponsorship, convention type event, so it's never
going to go away. But I think that's what needs

(21:47):
to be reinforced in the players that the reason why
they're making so much money is the TV revenue deal,
and the reason why the TV revenue deal is so
lucrative reasons the playoffs and then the All Star weekend.
So you know, any thought of okay, let's add incentives here.

(22:08):
The incentive is let's do good for the league partners
and the fans because this contract is lucrative because of
this event. So again I get players not wanting to
exert themselves to further injury all that, but all we're
saying is what you said. It's it's just an entertaining
half of basketball and that's it. And on top of that,

(22:30):
I'll add another thing. With Lebron James, Anthony Davis being
out or Anthony Edwards being out in the game, I
had no problem with that, but for them to wait
until the last minute to do it that that didn't
sit well with me at all because we always talk about, oh,
these All Star snubs and the ones that were snubbed
felt a certain way. If there was a greater ramp

(22:51):
up time for that, you know, the NBA could have
been able to add in replacements. So everything about All
Star Weekend yesterday, I didn't so well with them.

Speaker 3 (23:01):
You know, Mark, And I don't want to pile on
the guy, even though I mean he tried to. He
tried to deflect and go after Doug Gottlieb, which you
know is easy enough. But my god, you know, I mean,
it feels like for better or for worse, and oftentimes
for worse, Lebron finds a way to have it made
about him, and it's it can't be a coincidence. I mean,

(23:24):
what is the level of narcissism we're dealing with with this?
I mean the fact that he would not even put
on the uniform to take pictures with guys. I mean,
does does everybody just roll their eyes at this guy
at this point? Or are there still pop I mean,
I just can't imagine that this that this can continue
this way. I mean, Adam Silver's got to know how
much negativity Lebron James brings to the league and brings

(23:46):
to LA as a whole.

Speaker 6 (23:48):
Yeah, and it's really disapoint because Lebron James, when you
look at his performance on the court, he's a selfless player.
He does so many things off the court that's selfless
as well as far as his community initiatives, And so
that reinforces the disappointment when I see this stuff on
social media, like it's it's not necessary. I mean, yeah,

(24:10):
Doug Gottlieb, he hasn't had a good coaching record, but like,
who cares? Why would Lebron James care about that? And
you know, we suspect the reason is because he was
one of many radio hosts that criticized Brownie James and
you know, him being drafted and you know, look, while
we're on that subject, you know, un solicited. I don't

(24:31):
have a problem with the Lakers drafting Brawny. It was
a late second round pick. He hasn't done any harm
for the position he's in. He's been about the right things,
great attitude, great work ethic. You know, he's had obvious
struggles and there's a reason why he's been mostly in
the G League. But you know, for anyone who's tuting

(24:51):
stronger criticism about that, well, what do you expect? That's
what Sports Talk radio is that's what the media business is.
So it just it very much feels like this should
be something that's beneath Lebron given his stature, And I
would presume bigger things to do on a day off
on Monday.

Speaker 2 (25:10):
Wouldn't that get pushed back? You mentioned it him waiting
so long where you can't name and alternate and get
someone to fill that spot. And I don't know how
contracts work, but if it would count to be a
replacement or an alternate or something like that, mark, but
I would assume that might have cost people some money.
Someone could, you know, get an All Star Game appearance
bonus if he opts out before the All Star weekend

(25:34):
and they get the call. I would assume players don't
appreciate that at all.

Speaker 6 (25:37):
For those two guys, oh, I'm very sure they don't.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
You know.

Speaker 6 (25:41):
You may recall earlier it was very clear that the
Ana ANTETOKOUNMPA wasn't going to play in the All Star Game,
and it was announced to an Adam Silver named Trey
Young as the injury replacement. So when there are all
injuries and it's very clear that they're not going to play,
they put in the replacement right away, now let's look
specifically at Lebron and fairness. He did play, you know,

(26:05):
the last two games before the All Star break, so
there is a very good chance that his ankle just
started acting up for the worst recently. But I very
heavily doubt that it was so fluid that he didn't
decide until that last day. I would think that a
decision was made before them.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
The one and only Mark Medina joining us on the
Petresen Money Show on a five seventy l A Sports.
Now that we have the debacle of the All Star
Game in the rear view, only to look forward to
what they will they come up with next year and
you know.

Speaker 6 (26:40):
The and it'll be it into it them. I wonder
how much the park will be there there.

Speaker 3 (26:44):
God helping nine. Well that's a little low. I mean,
think of what inflation will be. The great Mark Medina
is our guest and and it is a very interesting
thing because we have the second half coming. Uh, there's big,
big buzz about Luca Doncic here in Los Angeles. The
NBA is going to make only more money next year

(27:06):
with their new TV deal with Disney, and they're going
to shove it down our throats even if people aren't
into it, how is this long term going to work
with Lebron and Luca? Do you think do you think
I'm going to be a nice guy and enjoy this
guy getting all the attention part of Lebron is going
to continue through this year and maybe in the future.

Speaker 6 (27:27):
You know what, for all the criticism we've expressed about Lebron,
this isn't something I'm going to express here. I think
that this is going to work out perfectly fine with
him and Luca. The reason is that Luca is a
generational star. And so when we've looked at the history
with Lebron and kind of the push pool of him
saying he doesn't want to have to have primary ball

(27:48):
handling duties until he does well, the reason is because
he was seeing how Erradic Russell Westbrook was on the
floor and he was also saying how inconsistent Angel Russell
was with his uhh and decision making. Luka Doncic, he's
a generational talent. Great score can create good playmaker. Yes,
we know things about his conditioning and his defense that

(28:11):
need to improve, but you know, from my point of view,
those are all hairs is split because he's been an
All NBA First Team candidate, and he led the MAVs
to the finals last year. I think that part's going
to be fine. I think really the the what the
struggles are going to be is what are they going
to be defensively? How do all the other rotation players

(28:34):
adjust with figuring out that dynamic with Lebron and Luca,
And what do they do with the center spot. I mean,
with the Mark Williams trade being rescinded. They got Alex Linn,
but you know he's he's only a few minutes a
night player. So those are all the question marks I
have about the Lakers short term, but I think long

(28:55):
term the future is bright the next ten years because
they have clarity that Luca is going to be their
next star player.

Speaker 3 (29:03):
And I'm going to go out.

Speaker 6 (29:04):
On a limb here, but I don't think I'm given
a hot take. He's going to sign an extension with
the Lakers. I don't know how many titles he's going
to win with the Lakers, but he's going to win
a title with them, and he's going to be a
first bout Hall of Famer. And given the Lakers parameters
that they retire jerseys to former Lakers like the end
of the Hall of Fame, Luca's number seventy seven. It'll
go from every single seat at Crypto dot Com Arena

(29:29):
for every fan in his debut up into the rafters.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
Look at that one. Look at that bold predictions from
Mark Medina joining us right now. We had Billy. This
has gone quite well, It really has. We had Billy
macunn about a week and a half ago and we
asked him.

Speaker 3 (29:41):
That didn't go as well.

Speaker 2 (29:42):
No, we asked him what his relationship with JJ Redick
was like, and he said, I don't really talk to him.
So by saying that, when you say he's going to
win a title, his number is going to go to
the rafters, you know the defensive issues they may have
this year. Mark Williams Trade recinded, I don't I don't
know what your relationship is like like with JJ Reddick
if you have one, but just kind of your thoughts

(30:02):
about him being the coach that's going to deliver sort
of what you're projecting, or if you think he's going
to be the coach that's the one to deliver all
of that.

Speaker 6 (30:12):
Yeah, relationship with JJ Reddick, Yeah, it's professional. There's nothing bad, great,
it's fine, right, not much to read into. You ask questions,
he answers them, and that's that. As far as is
he the coach that can deliver the championship, it's too
early to know. Not because of any serious misgivings I

(30:34):
have about JJ. It's just it's the first year, and
I know how the NBA biz works. It always changes,
and it's fluid with the coach and carousel. But you know,
my very very early impressions of JJ have been mostly positive.
That you know, he obviously knows the game. He has
a command of the locker room. You know, the obvious
inevitable shortcomings that he has of not having prior NBA

(30:57):
experience has been mostly mitigated through each stretch of games
and finding right roster combinations, making adjustments. He's you know,
he's someone who's been really embracing of the profession and
has had a really good attitude about it. And because
of who he is as a former player and his

(31:18):
reputation of uh, you know, having a lot of great
people's skills and knowing the game, there has been a
buy in. So I think that that has obviously gone
a long way. But it's obviously it's easier to make
player projections like I did with Luca when you're talking
about star players, harder to make them with coaches. But
it has more to do with the circumstances on how

(31:40):
the NBA biz works than anything specifically about JJ.

Speaker 3 (31:44):
Thanks Medina, you stud Yeah, we appreciate you joining us
on the Hohay.

Speaker 6 (31:49):
On a scale of zero to ten, ten being the highest.

a single margarita, classic classic, Kim Taints.

Speaker 2 (35:39):
That's a fair point.

Speaker 3 (35:40):
Nobody likes the guy that shows up not one minute
before closing, even if he is a beloved sportsler.

Speaker 2 (35:45):
That's a thing. He's a regular, so they can't if

don't even need to be snarky. It sucks so hard
all by itself.

Speaker 2 (36:41):
That's true. You're right before we were outliers. Now everybody's
joined the chorus, well except for one person.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
Yeah, damn, I'm glad you guys aren't homemade. But you know,
you bitches are mad jealous of the success of Jedleball.

Speaker 2 (37:05):
Something right, A career built on shoplifting in China. I
