Speaker 2 (00:48):
Me Tros Money Hey in five seventy l A Sports
Live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app Making our way toward
three o'clock. A superflex is what we like to call this.
On an amal Horse Monday, we will be off before
we are typically scheduled to be on. Thanks to Clipper
versus Pistons basketball.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
And thank you for being with us. It is a
flex alert way back to one o'clock. Usually Rogan and
Rodney are on at this time, but here we are,
and we are hopeful that you'll enjoy the music at noon.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Hopeful music at noon.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Our hopes, of course, will be snuffed out by the
Clippers and the Pistons right around three o'clock. But tomorrow
we'll have Dodgers Mariners, and like you heard Rogan and
Rodney tease, they will be on standby. But Matt and
I will start at three and go till seven o'clock.

(01:46):
This has been scheduled talk on the Petros Somebody show.
Other than the fact that we will do two hours today,
we will have David Vassey live from Camelback Ranch. In
the very next segment. He's in a conversation I think
right now with Tyler Glass now, which is going to
prompt especially my radio partner, the voice of the Bolts,

(02:07):
Matt Smith, to talk about his bare nipples throughout the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Nipples and abs I like to call him.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Nah, some people like butts and gusts, and as nips
and abs is what we're all about. When it comes
to Glass now and the mister cartoon mask, so Vassay's
talking to him and then he's gonna jump on with
us at the bottom of the hour. We'll do how
is your Weekend? Tim Kats is back back at Spectrum

(02:35):
Sports Net after the game, so he'll be on with
the Loan Dog. The Dodgers are playing right now and
that game is flying, so Kates had to fly and
get to Spectrum Sports Net. We'll have Vassay on, we'll
do word number, how is your Weekend? Without Kates, I
don't know what we'll do without a trip to the

(02:56):
inkwell in beautiful downtown Burbank to boast about. But we're
gonna have to survive. And we have a top.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Story Tangerine Hotel for the weekend.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Oh wow, side, it's not the only one. We'll have
your word number song in the day and a top
story of the day and dead and Alive and that'll
be that. It'll be a full show tomorrow and we'll
have to live with it. This has been double scheduled
talk on the Petros and Money Show, and we are
not in La proper completely. I'm at home in my

(03:30):
basement where I like to be. Ronnie Fossio is, of
course holding it down in beautiful Burbank, California. At is
in Indianapolish. He grew up in an Indiana town Matt did,
and he is there now for his annual trip to

(03:51):
the NFL Combine, which he also piggybacks college basketball work
on top of. So that is where Matt is right now,
with pigeons down on Market Square? Am I right?

Speaker 4 (04:05):
Matt?

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Exactly right? I can see from my top of the
heap nineteenth floor hotel room, I can see Gainbridge Field
House formerly Market Square Arena.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
So you're looking down from a hotel room, exactly right?
Are you standing in your underwear? I am not, but
nightfall will be coming soon.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
If I were, the people at the Weston across the
way would be able to see me because I can
see into their rooms, those that have their curtains drawn.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Is there any there looking down at the pigeons on
Market Square standing in their underwear?

Speaker 2 (04:44):
Let me see? Is I looking down from.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
A hotel room, and Matt, it's clear that nightfall will
be coming soon? Am I wrong?

Speaker 2 (04:53):
I just see a couple of crackheads down below the
Steak and Shake is Oh yeah. I couldn't believe how
many there weren't Bloomington yesterday. I was like, Charlie, what
the hell is up with this? It's a college town.
It's like I know there's crackheads everywhere.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
Well, it seems like wherever Matt goes trouble for find
the crackheads. Yeah, you find crackheads, you find desolation. You
attacked Cincinnati, you attacked the city of Austin last week.
You're now attacking Bloomington and Indianapolis, two of the towns
in the great state of Indiana, the state of your heritage.

(05:27):
You grew up in an Indiana town, and you have
a good look at Mama. I'd like to think she
was around. She was.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
I saw her on Saturday. Well, she was around when
I was growing up. I don't know if I just
if I go to the wrong spots, or if crackheads
are so prevalent these days, you know, no longer crackheads,
fentanyl heads, or whatever you want to label you want
to stick on them.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Kenneman head. That's what happened with Marcus Jordan. They changed
Marcus Jordana. Turned out the powdery substance that he had
when he got his Dui and Florida couple weeks back
turned out to be special. K Is that right? Yeah, which, which.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
I mean incredibly prevalent these days, is what we're saying, right.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
I suppose so, Matt, I mean, especially according to you.
What do I know. I don't go anywhere. But wherever
Matt trouble does, trouble follows whoever Matt is. Like, well,
Matt was looking at Bloomington in the rear view yesterday
the game that he called because we were on top
of all the big ten stuff, and we'll celebrate mc

(06:34):
cronin and his five hundred and one and all that
and talk about UCLA and Bill Walton Day and I
and Eagle and everybody. We'll do that a little later
in the show. But as Matt was driving and looking
at Bloomington in the rear view and talking about he
couldn't believe there's so many crackheads forgetting that he was
a cutter. This is what Matt Paynter started saying. The

(06:57):
Purdue coach about Indiana rid of Mike Woodson, right, they
fired him, but he's he's coaching it out like like
ty Wellingham like like uh like kind of like that.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Well, and he hasn't acknowledged that he's leaving. So they
have acknowledged that he's leaving at the end of the year.
He has not addressed it yet, so he just acts
like that that's happening. Yeah, like this is fine. You
know the fires around him. He's sitting at the kitchen
table with a cup of coffee.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
This is fine. Okay, He's like a beam. So this
is Uh, this is Matt Paynter, the very decorated Purdue coach,
referring to what happened in Indiana or what's going to
happen to Woodson And uh, this is after he got
beat right, I mean, Indiana beat Perdue's ass and produce.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Ass in the second half.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
Yeah, and Indiana's not going to the tournament, but Perdue
is ranked and they lost this game. And here's that.
This is what happens wherever man goes crackheads.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
And anger life discord.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
Well, listen to Painter. He actually make some really great
points here.

Speaker 5 (08:01):
Had a lot of turnover, obviously.

Speaker 6 (08:03):
I think you got to look at some of the
common denominators here. More than anything, I think that's an
important piece right here, like don't beat yourself, Like, don't
beat yourself, Like.

Speaker 5 (08:12):
Let's let's support somebody. I gotta try that out for once.

Speaker 6 (08:15):
Every now and the anybody goes wrong, like whenever youthing
Purdue fans are happy about what just happened, like you
like see, a fan base isn't the people that tweet. Well,
a fan base is the people when you're bleeding, they
support you, like they jump in and off, they jump
on and off things here way too much like.

Speaker 5 (08:35):
Support your coach man, support your players.

Speaker 6 (08:37):
Don't tweet negative things about them, like be supportive, like
we see how that works for you. But they build
them up like and they overdo.

Speaker 5 (08:45):
Things like quit overdoing it. Just actually like.

Speaker 6 (08:51):
Talk about what's actually happened, like, don't like get like
recruits in like that it's Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen. Then
they come out of here, well they're not Michael Jordan,
Scotty pip they're good college like and then they they
build it up and then they go, oh what's wrong.
Oh they're part of it. But it's not their total
fan base. It's just that everyone has a bad percentage

(09:11):
of their fan base now because of Twitter, and then
we think that's their fan base.

Speaker 5 (09:15):
It's not our it's not our fan base.

Speaker 6 (09:17):
It's not their real fan base either, And so I
think that's an important piece.

Speaker 5 (09:21):
But it's hard for young people to hear all.

Speaker 6 (09:23):
That and then go out and collectively play like, hey man,
we're playing for you guys, but your dog is when
we lose, and then we're the best when we win. Well,
we're somewhere in between, right, So, like, I think they
need to learn from some of those things and support
Scott Dolsa and support the new coach and support the staff,
but also kind of be grounded with everything.

Speaker 5 (09:43):
You know, they'll be able to you know, I think
they'll be able to have success. It's just a different
world now.

Speaker 6 (09:46):
We have eighteen teams, right, you know, they're going to
go into the name, image and likeness and changes are
going to be made here in April.

Speaker 5 (09:53):
So to be real, be real interesting to see just
the landscape for.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
Everybody wherever Matt Smith goes. I mean, we just painted
a one line picture in the first twelve minutes of
the show. We just painted a wonderful picture of the
Midwest of people in their underwear with a gray sky
staring down at pigeons on Market square, coaches angry with

(10:17):
each other, crackheads fighting over scraps at a Steak and Shake,
and just long, desolate, lonely highways in the NFL combine.
I would think that the city of Indianapolis would be
a buzz Matt, but it doesn't sound like that today.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
I think it will be. I think it's on the
cusp of buzz. You know, it's the We've ordered the drinks.
I'm waiting for my apparol sprits to get things going.
I'm anxious.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
You're realizing that everybody's going to be fashionably late to
your party.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
Yes, and I'm exactly And I'm just pacing at the
front door looking out the window. Oh no, they're going
across the street. Dope, that's just a door dash being
dropped off. And I'm getting excited about what's coming. But
they have yet to well, like we saw when the
Super Bowl arrived at Sofi Stadium, they have yet to

(11:09):
scoop out the riff raff and sweep them out. Because
you know, San Elmo is a block and a half
from where I'm looking right now, and that place is
going to be alive. It's to be alive with front
office folks, right Mangenie's going to be holding court exactly right.
The white I don't know what he called. I call
it the white whore. I don't know what Jerry Jones

(11:30):
calls his bus. But it appears as though the Cowboys
the press. Yes, the dB the Dean Blandino Express is
parked right outside the hotel where I am staying, so
I would assume I'm going to see a number of
drunken head coaches that have very little responsibility here save
one press conference tomorrow for fifteen minutes. They will be

(11:52):
filing into the White hor somewhere around twelve to one
am well going into tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
If you see Hugh Jackson, if he's still hanging around
the NFL Combine, tell him thanks for that wonderful and
very inspirational cameo that was ordered by the Pettersen Money
Listener Union. We appreciate everybody, certainly UFC fans. If you

(12:22):
want to go and watch a fight UFC three thirteen,
interer at AM five seventy LA sports dot Com Slash
Promotions for your chance to win tickets to UFC three
thirteen and see all the exciting fighting live a team
mobile arena in Las Vegas on March eighth. Prizes include
tickets to see the fight, a two night hotel stay,

(12:43):
food and beverage credits. Intern out at m FI seventy
LA Sports dot Com slash promotions. Now. I do believe
we will have some NFL talk as the show goes on,
and Las Vegas could or could not be involved.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Truly, that is true. That is a little bit of
the buzz is the reporters have arrived here. Our old
friend Bruce Feldman is here, a handful of though Albert
Breer has shown up. So the reporters have made their
way into Indianapolis. I assume many more. I think we're
staying in the I'm staying in the Cowboys Dolphins, and

(13:21):
looks like maybe the uh, maybe the ESPN hotel is
where I'm I'm set up, so we'll see a lot
of those folks.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
So Cowboys Dolphins at ESPN. I mean it sounds like
the smell of vinegar from all the douchiness is going
to be wafted through the halls. I mean, it's going
to feel like it really dipped in it out there.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
So what's my best I take you're gonna do?

Speaker 3 (13:45):
Now? You've called just to get everybody your schedule talk
squared away. You've called a basketball game, called it yesterday now,
and you've caused strife and left it like a guy
blowing up a gas station. And you see it blow
up away.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
The pump stuck in my gas tank with the hose
just driving behind me.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
And Mike Woodson is the dog and the bowler sitting
in the flaming room, sipping on the coffee bug with
the weird eyes going in either direction, saying this is fine. Okay,
I understand that. And now you're gonna work Chargers podcasting
all week long.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
Right, that's right Tomorrow, Wednesday, Thursday, three days ton of interviews.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
And whatever else comes your way. Right, you know you're
gonna be a catcher and a rye. Hey, hey, would
you join us voice of the Bolts. We're the ticker
from Boyery. Okay, okay, you got that. And then and
then you're gonna call another college basketball game at the end.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
Of the week Monday. So I will fly home Friday,
and then I will fly out to Houston on Sunday.
I will call the game, I'll do the radio. Your
favorite it's a late game.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
Is the second time you visited Houston this very calendar year.
This quarter is.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Great, life is great.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
And then I will call the Houston Kansas game on
Monday night and I will then fly home first thing
Tuesday morning. So I'll be in the studio this Friday,
and then I will be in the studio next Tuesday,
two days out of about a week.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
Well, the best I can say to that is, I'll
see you next Tuesday.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
Yeah, oh my mind.

Speaker 3 (15:30):
Oh hell yes, Matt put on that party dress, Madison.
I'm in Minneapolis. Tim Kates is on Spectrum Sports Net tonight.
If you want to watch him in the Lone Dog
and the hard Ton Chop Up that Dodger game, Tim
Kates left in a hurry with his panties all bunched
up because the game was flying. Wats will be like
five pitching changes and somebody will and then it'll all

(15:52):
come to his screeching halt, maybe at the very end,
after he's had a panic attack.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
You know, that's inevitable.

Speaker 3 (15:58):
It always is. I mean, we've lived like.

Speaker 2 (15:59):
An in Dallas or Atlanta, one of those places where
you got to run your ass off to make a
gate and then you get there and it's like, oh, yeah,
it's been delayed forty minutes.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
Great. This is a fair question. This says, are the
crackheads in Indiana scarier than the ones here in Los Angeles?

Speaker 2 (16:19):
The ones in Bloomington yesterday, I would describe as much
more white trashy than the ones I'm used to seeing
around LA. Kind of like the the Army Navy green jacket.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
Wait a minute, wait a minute, that's my style. What
are you talking about? Well, the drifter, the drift style,
the Vietna, that's my style. It's a real drifter. Look,
it's a stocking cap. It's toothless, it's the sunken crackhead eyes.
And it's you know, some work boots, not like you know,
high end red wing work boots, but kind of like

(17:00):
your lower end we got, you know, it's twenty five
degrees out, so they're they're bundled. Yeah, they're they're really
bundled up. I mean, you got your your knockoff car Heart.
Maybe not the Army Navy. It's more like the Carhart
jacket that you know they found at a work site
that was left behind, because it's more confused, Matt, I
want a better picture of what an Indiana crackhead looks like.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
Yes, I'm not detailed enough.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
Right, this guy, says Bruce Feldman has a voice that
sounds like the blight Matt is described. The difference is
Indie crackheads and LA crackheads. Their difference is the indie
crackheads own the Los Angeles the NFL team that.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
Public one good one. Everybody else thought that's the the
Jimmersay remember he got popped.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
For Oh he's a crackhead. Yeah, but it's not like
everybody owns the team like the Packers.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
I'll see if I can take some crackhead videos.

Speaker 3 (18:04):
And this is a great point, saying that anything in
the Midwest is more white trashy than LA is absolutely
zero news.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
That's a great point, Thanky, It's a very good point.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
Okay, we want to have some time to talk to Dave,
so we'll be right back. We'll take a break, we'll
get back and we will talk to Dave live from
Campbell Back Ranch. Tim Kats is en route to El
Segundo for Spectrum Sportsnet. Matt and I will sojourn until

(18:37):
four o'clock and then they'll be Clippers. Maybe not an
ideal Monday for you, but we can always podcast and
find our way around around whatever's going on. It's a
Petrosen money show on AMPI seventy LA Sports. You're home
with the Dodgers.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
We got Clipper basketball coming up this afternoon. It's why
we're on so early. A one to three show tip
off at four pm and a reminder for UFC fans
enter at am five seventy ELA Sports dot Com Slash Promotions.
It's your chance to win tickets to UFC three thirteen.
You'll see Alex Pereira defend his title against Magamed and
Caliev live at Tmobile Arena, Las Vegas, March eighth. Prize

(19:24):
includes tickets for the Fight to Night, hotels, day, food
and beverage credits and are now at am five seventy
LA Sports dot Com Slash Promotions.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
David Vasse joining us right now.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
Live from spring training, the home of the Dodgers, off ISA.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
With an inside look at the Dodgers. This is the
Vass Report with David Vasse. Dodgers are in good year.
Dave is with them like he always is. We're happy
to have him on like we are all the time,
but especially this time of year. Is he is embedded
in the Cactus League, like a cactus on the Peters

(20:00):
and Money show that pulls up roots and moves all
around Arizona. For these games. Spectrum Sportsnet or MLB Network,
We're right here on a five seventy on your Southern
California Toyota Dealer Celebrity Hotline at the Real Underscore DV
on Twitter, it's David Vassay. What's going on in Goodyear?

Speaker 4 (20:16):
Dave, Well, the Dodgers playing a little sloppy defense, which
has led to four runs for the Reds. It's four
to one in the fifth inning. Yeah, but the story
is that Davin Lux, former Dodger, facing his old team,
is starting at third base for the Reds. If he's
going to crack the starting lineup for Cincinnati, that's where

(20:37):
it's going to be. He hasn't really gotten too many opportunities,
but he has struck out twice against two of the
Dodgers' lefty relievers. Anthony Bunda won his first at bat,
and he just struck out on the last inning against
Tanner Scott. So that's one of the storylines here. And
the other was Tyler glassnew making his first spring start,

(20:58):
and Dave Roberts said this morning they've tried to get
glass Now to stop focusing on being perfect with his mechanics.
But I also pose this question to him, isn't it
more about you know glass now, psyche just as much
as it is about the physical awareness of the way
he pitches. And here's what he said right now.

Speaker 3 (21:24):
Perhaps no, no, perhaps we don't have it.

Speaker 4 (21:27):
Da perhaps not, But anyway, Dave Roberts did concede that
it is about glass noow, psyche, just as much as
it is about the physical part of it. And they're
trying to make him more athletic. And you know, spring
training is not the issue. It's about getting glass. Now
to the finish line.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
Well, Dave, sorry, we don't have the sound, but perfectly
conveyed by you. I saw on look. People can follow
your social media outlets and they'll be able to get
all that stuff as well. I got the Otani in
the bullpen for the second time this spring, Dave, what
can you air with us about that? Just you know,
you know what it looks like. What's it look like
when he's on that mound? How close does he look
like he is to throw in?

Speaker 4 (22:07):
Well, the biggest news about his bullpen sessions Matt is
that he's experimenting with throwing or pitching out of the
full wind up. When he was with the Angels, he
pitched exclusively out of the stretch, and Mark Pryor spoke
to us yesterday, and he said it was Otani's idea
to try to experiment with this and give him some
more fluidity to him being on the mound and coming

(22:32):
out of the wind up makes it. I don't know
what he's trying to do as far as trying to
get some more momentum out of that, but it's something
that he's tinkering with, and we'll see whether or not
whenever he does pitch for the Dodgers in a game,
whether or not he brings that to the mound. But
it was the first time we had seen him pitch

(22:52):
out of the wind up, even in a bullpen session
over the weekend.

Speaker 2 (22:57):
Someone that we haven't at least I don't think we've
asked you about, or maybe you've shared in My apologies
for forgetting, but you know, Will Smith seemed like he
was pretty banged up last year, had a bit of
a rough go kind of where's where's he at? I guess,
help wise, and kind of what does that catcher's room
look like?

Speaker 3 (23:11):
So far?

Speaker 4 (23:13):
Yeah, I guess last year he was dealing with a
right ankle issue that we weren't aware of. I don't
know if that contributed to such a big falloff in
the second half of the season where he hit under
two hundred. He was a shell of himself of what
we saw the first half of last year. And I
know he took more foul balls off his mask than
any other catcher last year. But the Dodgers did some

(23:36):
concussion tests after the season. It came back very clear,
so that wasn't part of it. I just think he
has to train differently to be able to withstand the
riggers of catching as many games as the Dodgers need
him to catch. So he's supposed to play in his
first Cactus League games by the weekend. So that's encouraging

(23:59):
because I mean, it was a risky type of commitment
to a catcher for ten years, and these are the
reasons why teams are always apprehensive of doing that.

Speaker 3 (24:10):
Great David Masse live from Goodyear, Arizona. I saw you
working on the Freddy Freeman story or continuing that or
his rehab. When will he get out there and start
playing in games Thursday.

Speaker 4 (24:24):
Not sure if it's going to be at first base
or just as a DH but Dave Roberts said he
is going to play in his first game on Thursday,
and he was on the backfield because we were leaving
for Goodyear taken at that's kind of like Otawi was
yesterday as well. So they're very confident. Freddie Freeman's going
to be ready for the opening game in Tokyo.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
You probably should ask you this first day, since you
brought up that Gavin Lux was playing third, So kind
of two part question. Guys seemed to struggle a little
bit defensively at second the hot corner a little bit tougher,
I would assume than playing second base. And then the
second part of that, you knew Gavin Well, did that
catch him by surprise? Did it bum him out? Did
you know? Kind of obviously he's closer to home where

(25:06):
he grew up in Wisconsin, but at the same time,
he's not a Dodger anymore.

Speaker 4 (25:10):
Yeah, I think it did take him off guard, and
I think the initial shock obviously was disappointing. But from
what I've gathered talking to him the last couple of
months is that he's really excited for this opportunity. And
you know, we're about to talk to him when he
comes out of this game for the first time since
actually playing in spring training and being in spring training

(25:31):
with the Reds so we'll find out more about what
the experience has been like now that he's actually here.

Speaker 3 (25:37):
Stay on top of the social media for all of that.
David Vasse joining us right now in the Petro said
Money Show. Bobby Miller's back active or more active? How
is he doing and looks like he avoided something really
terrible and is able to get back in there soon.

Speaker 4 (25:54):
Yeah, he was at his locker when I walked in
this morning, Petros. And the the red mark, the lump
on his right forehead has gone down considerably, the swelling
has gone down considerably, and he is out of concussion
protocol and he actually was playing catch this morning as
the Dodgers were working out. So slowly but surely he's

(26:17):
getting closer to going back on the mound. And he
told us over the weekend that he did watch the
replay of him getting hit in the head several times.
A lot of times when it's something that traumatic, players
don't want to see it, but Bobby being Bobby, watched
it a few different times. But he could laugh about it,
and he knows that he's very fortunate that the Paul

(26:39):
hit him in a place where obviously it wasn't great,
but it could have been a lot worse, like the
Padres picture that we saw late in the game yesterday,
had his orbital bone broken on a comebacker from another
minor league Dodger hitter. So I mean Bobby reached out
to him because obviously that just happened to him a

(27:01):
few days ago. But he's very fortunate that it didn't
hit him in another a few inches left right north south,
or it could have been a lot worse.

Speaker 2 (27:11):
I'm going to read this directly from your friend the
Pitching Ninja, and you can share with our listeners what
it means. Rob Friedman posting Dustin May's ridiculous back to
back high spin breaking balls with a face next to it.
Thirty four hundred and fifty one RPMs twenty inch of
horizontal break, thirty five twenty eight RPMs twenty inch of

(27:33):
horizontal break. We're used to seeing crazy stuff come out
of that dude's hands. Walk us through it, Dave, how
big of an outing was that that first Inny?

Speaker 3 (27:42):
It was big?

Speaker 4 (27:43):
And you know, we see Dustin's scream when he comes
off the mound in frustration, but yesterday it was a
scream in his glove of thanks because after he came
out of that outing yesterday, he expressed just how close
he was, as he put it to being six feet
under if he didn't get rushed to the emergency room

(28:03):
when his esophagus was torn. And I just believe it's
given him a greater perspective on this whole competition for
a spot on this pitching staff, whether it's as a
starter or a reliever. I think he's just grateful to
have this opportunity. So if that opportunity comes in the
bullpen this time around, I think his head's in a

(28:24):
really good spot. And unfortunately, it takes something that extreme
to threatn your life to give a player perspective on
more than baseball. But because of that, I feel like
he's in a really great spot and not focusing on
I'm a starter and I don't want to go to
the bullpen. He's just responded as saying, I'm here for
the ride, and wherever it takes me, I'm going to

(28:45):
be very grateful. So that's the feelings he had after
coming out of the game yesterday.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
Dave. Despite the Manhattan Beach Paul Ar Pulp plunge and
the success that you were witnessed to eyewitness, Is there
a chance that that Chris Taylor could might might not
be on this team.

Speaker 4 (29:04):
That's hard to say, Petros. I mean, the production and
the results are would lend to believe that, you know,
there's somebody else that may deserve that spot. But as
you have said.

Speaker 3 (29:15):
Before, that hasn't stopped him in the past.

Speaker 4 (29:20):
Yeah, money plays, and he's got one more year left
on that big contract, and he's tried to make some
adjustments to his swing. It really hasn't translated in games yet,
and we're gonna have to wait and see what the
Dodgers decide. I mean, they've got some young guys that
are really pushing for that final spot on the bench
that Taylor has right now. I guess the one silver

(29:42):
lining in all this Chris Taylor competition is that Hey
Sung Kim has not had a great spring either. He
has been overmatched offensively. Defensively, He's looked good, but I
don't believe he's really pushing anybody for that fi spot.
I think there's still a lot of time for him

(30:03):
to get better and he can be optioned to the
minor league. So I see Taylor breaking camp with the
Dodgers and being on this opening day roster. But if
he doesn't take advantage of his limited opportunities, the Dodgers
are going to be forced to make a decision by Midsummer.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
Last thing for me, Dave, You know, we like to
talk about the guys that we don't know about, but
we expect to be future Hall of famers. So what
can you share with us about Dalton Rushing and some
of those younger players that have been invited to spring
and if they've been able to kind of, you know,
get anybody to pay attention to him.

Speaker 4 (30:39):
Yet, Matt, I have loved that side of the clubhouse.
I've spent a lot of time with those young guys.
They have such a tight bond. I have not seen
that ever since covering the Dodgers. Not just two or three,
but ten twelve minor league players having such a tight bond.

(31:00):
It's pretty cool every morning to go over there and
check in with that side of the clubhouse and Dalton Rushing,
Hunter Fiducca have lockers right next to each other. Rushing
is getting opportunities, he's uh, you know, hasn't really dominated
spring training. Hunter Paducca's had a better spring than Rushing has.
And with Will Smith being down, Faducca has been able

(31:22):
to get a lot of opportunities to start games, including today.
But a guy that's really interesting to keep an eye
on is a guy that the Dodgers acquired when they
traded Michael Bush and Yen c Almonte to the Cubs
last year for young pitcher Jackson Ferris, who's one of
the best starting pitchers in the organization now, and young

(31:45):
outfielder by the name of Zayir Hope. He is right
now the young star of spring training. He's a left fielder.
He's made a great catch, he's made great throws, and
he's come up big with the bats. So Zayir Hope
has really take in the early Cactus League by storm
for the Dodgers. So remember that name is I hear Hope.

(32:07):
The Dodgers are really excited about him possibly being on
this team next year.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
All right, back to Red's Dodgers in goodyear. Thank you, Dave,
fabulous work and we'll talk tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (32:21):
Okay, guys, I'm really excited the future right The present
is great, but I love these young guys and I'm
looking forward to seeing them one day.

Speaker 3 (32:28):
I hear hope.

Speaker 4 (32:29):
There is hope on the horizon and Nick who Rosso
is really making an impression to be part of the
bullpen later in the season.

Speaker 3 (32:40):
Oh, Frosso from Peninsula High.

Speaker 4 (32:44):
Yes, and your father texts me that he coached him
in youth basketball.

Speaker 3 (32:49):
I'm sure he's a dynamo.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
I'm responsible for his food.

Speaker 3 (32:54):
See you look at that. He disrupted that play. All right, well,
thank you Dave. Great work. We love you.

Speaker 2 (33:01):
Thanks Dave, love you guys.

Speaker 3 (33:02):
There we go and we'll be back. How was your
weekend without Kate's tim Kates left?

Speaker 2 (33:11):
Oh freaked out?

Speaker 3 (33:13):
Yeah, the game was flying. It's not like LA has
traffic problems. What's what's Kate's worried about?

Speaker 2 (33:22):
Totally fine, burbanked elsa gundo.

Speaker 3 (33:26):
It's like the dad says, it vide everything in La.
Takes twenty minutes. Twenty minutes. We'll be back with how
is your weekend? Thank you, thanks for being with us.
It isn't I'm a horse Monday, we're flexed way back.

(33:48):
Show doesn't really start till three, and by then we'll
be off, but you could podcast what was left and
enjoy the Clippers. We're going to have a water down,
or at least not full team membership. Participation. How is
your weekend? Because Kate's is at Spectrum Sports Net waiting

(34:08):
for the Dodger Red game to end that we're not
airing today because of the Clippers. They say keeping a
boat is more trouble than it's worth. Matt.

Speaker 2 (34:18):
You know that is what they say. I believe that's accurate.
It's what you want to do, is you want to
know somebody that owns a boat.

Speaker 3 (34:26):
I'm gonna do what I do. The weekend is mine.
So how was your weekend, Matt? How is your weekend?

Speaker 2 (34:34):
Yeah, we kind of talked about it. Flew out of
Long Beach Southwest Long Beach to Midway, Chicago. Forty eight
people on the plane. Everyone had their own row. Eight
am takeoff and I ordered the Voodoo Ranger IPA right
around the Braskama drunk about a parade.

Speaker 3 (34:50):
I PA, that's a great white guy, just a great just.

Speaker 2 (34:53):
To the NAT exactly right. I got to see my folks,
my older brother for a minute, my younger brother, and
my nephew's at his house for a minute, had donuts
with the old man on Sunday before I drove down
to Bloomington. Talked about it, called IU versus Purdue. That
Assembly Hall, great atmosphere. I went to grab a bite

(35:15):
with my nephew, Charlie, who's a junior or a sophomore
at IU, at the Fat Dans kind of burger subjoint.
Had a cubano, because that's what you want in Bloomington,
you want to find the spot that has the best cubano.
And we watched the UCLA Ohio state game there and
I had my hand saying, hey, listen, if they blow this,
I'm gonna turn on this iHeartRadio app. And you guys,

(35:35):
you're gonna lose your mind when you hear.

Speaker 3 (35:37):
Oh you didn't.

Speaker 2 (35:37):
Yeah, it's like I didn't get it. And then drove
to Indie, checked into the hotel. So there we go.

Speaker 3 (35:43):
A Cuban sandwich in Cuba is just an empty plate.

Speaker 2 (35:48):
It's just a sandwich.

Speaker 3 (35:50):
That's not what There's nothing, no, it's just they don't
have any nothing. Ronnie.

Speaker 7 (35:57):
Hey, guys, didn't do too much this weekend. Sort of
a quiet weekend for myself and my wife.

Speaker 3 (36:03):
UH.

Speaker 7 (36:04):
Saturday, just got up a little bit early, met with
a contractor UH to talk about some contracting stuff on UH.
Following that to my wife and I went out for breakfast,
well more more of like a brunch, more like a
bunch at this place, this Colombian restaurant in uh in
North Hollywood on Victory called Maria's La Maria very good.

(36:26):
I did have a Colombian beer as well. That's pretty
good as well. Uh, nice Colombian beer. You guys ever
had Colombian beer?

Speaker 3 (36:32):
Uh don't filled with white powder?

Speaker 7 (36:37):
No, no, no, uh at any rates.

Speaker 3 (36:41):
Uh.

Speaker 7 (36:42):
Saturday night, my wife and I did go to dinner
at Japanese sushi place in uh North Hollywood called Chiba.

Speaker 3 (36:49):
Uh. That was great.

Speaker 2 (36:50):
Uh.

Speaker 7 (36:50):
Sunday didn't do much, slept in. Uh did some backyard cleanup.
Uh you know the fallen fruit, trimmed the hedges and
the Uh yeah, you know, you're you're good regular Uh
you know, Sunday domestic chores. That's That's what I had
going on on Sunday. And that that was pretty much it.
That was that was pretty much it much to do

(37:12):
about nothing.

Speaker 3 (37:13):
Columbian marching powder, help you pick up all that fallen fruit.

Speaker 2 (37:17):
That guard's never been cleaning my life.

Speaker 3 (37:20):
That's right.

Speaker 7 (37:20):
I had a couple of those.

Speaker 3 (37:21):
Well over here in our neighborhood, there were little League festivities.

Speaker 5 (37:25):
You know.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
It was the Little League opening day, but my son
is aged out, so where we weren't involved. There was
no float built building party for us. Well that sucks,
well knows.

Speaker 7 (37:37):
No parade of the Little League's.

Speaker 3 (37:39):
They had a parade, and I was able to get
out leave for yoga right before the parade passed my house.
I got right underneath the cops got out of here
because the parade goes right by the house here. Uh so, yes,
there was a parade. It was all that stuff. And
I did go up to the Little League a game
to get a hot dog because they have a snack
shock there and it's only a couple of minutes.

Speaker 7 (38:00):
You doing the PA over there, Pa.

Speaker 3 (38:02):
No, No, I only did ask you. I only do
it at the end of the year for the coaches game.
They have the young people do it for the young
people's game. Anyway, I watched Jack Reach around the first
three episodes, and I went to pilates instead of yoga
on Sunday because I missed my yoga windows. So I

(38:23):
went to a pilates class. It was a lot more
of a chicks.

Speaker 2 (38:27):
I was gonna say, any other dude in the pilates
besides you.

Speaker 3 (38:29):
Yeah, there was another guy, maybe two maybe two others.
There might have been a boyfriend type. And you know
who else was there? The other Matt who's a listener
who goes to the yoga studio Kea Yoga. Not not
the listener Union, but the other Matt. He's an Asian
guy who wears like the Asian Uh. He wears like
a like a bandana. That's how he's distinctive.

Speaker 2 (38:52):
When you go to pilates, do you uh see yourself?
Reform starts yourself?

Speaker 3 (39:02):
It's not like that. It's there's no machine in the room.
It's I don't even know what that is.

Speaker 2 (39:10):
Chicken boom boom.

Speaker 3 (39:11):
Now, yes, the answer is yes to those of you
asking the question. All of us are afraid to ask
Ronnie what he's trying to build in his house. We'll
be back.

Speaker 7 (39:20):
It's all right there.

Speaker 3 (39:23):
Uh you didn't say it this time. I just I'm
just trying to you know, I don't want to come
back with a nub. I got a whole other hour.
Watch it, Watch it, dear Petros. We'll be back with
your word number song of the day right here on
a seventy LA Sports. Thank you for being part of
the show, we'll have a top story of the day
Dead and live clippers will be what you have this afternoon.

(39:47):
