Gong the use Petrosen Money Latest Start or a Petrosen
Money Show. I'm gonna say in years eight past the hour,
on the first day of the NCAA Tournament, Jonas Knox,
Ben Mallor in for Rogan and Rodney so excited about

(01:18):
the twelve to five upset me, so enthralled me.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Pece McNee State Cowboys beat Clemson.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Carried it until three oh eight.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
As predicted by Josh Passner, as predicted by Clark Kellogg.
In the opposite way, Clark Kellogg was.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Wrong at Clemson in the National championship game again, not
just the final four National championship game against Florida.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
He's beating his head against that fancy desk right now, Matt.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Now for people that think we're talking on our.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Poop turn, talking out of turn, talking to.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Our poopolskts has managed to pull the sound of Pastner
on Monday when asked about a twelve five upset, because
there's always a twelve five upset.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
I mean, I can't believe that it was these guys
that went late on our story. Mcneicemn go all the
way later and we don't show up till three oh eight,
because they're talking about me. We're the ones with the sound.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
Here's actually for a twelve five game that I like
that I would possibly take. It could be McNee State
in Clemson, which is a twelve five.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
Here we go, and let me tell you.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
Why McNeese State has they have They have a high
major team and they have a you know, they're able
to go and pay a bunch of money for legally
which is allowable now they're able to you know, I
don't like to call it nil. I just sure pay
to play right, and they were able to pay a
bunch of guys. There are high major players that instead
of going to the high major conference, they came to

(02:46):
McNee State. And this is a high major team that's
in the twelve seed. So they're really good. I think
that's going to give Clemson an issue.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Yeah, look at that.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
I'm listening to excitement, like we're not trying to him
or slap him down, like let's go manie.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
Hey, we're encouraging to our guests. Matt. That's part of
our charm. That'll starts with the intro Dutch.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
Now, had he said you see san Diego, had he
said come on around, he said, I can't remember who
the other one is. I think it's Memphis versus it's Memphis,
Colorado State, mcneise, Clemson, you see San Diego, Michigan, and
whatever the hell the other one is. I like the

(03:30):
Trenton exactly right, McNee We would.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
Have been excited for any of it. You know.

Speaker 5 (03:34):
McNeice has got the whole team manager thing that you
sent the video.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
I know, yes, I sent a hype video last night
because he's getting so hyped about McNee.

Speaker 5 (03:42):
But the cheerleaders today made headlines by wearing socks with
that student manager's face all over them during the game.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
McNee, guys, that guy's getting getting some he is getting You're.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Not getting any honey on your stinger tonight, mcmae. So
we got and Matt, i'd be excited if you could
remember that fourth twelve five. I'm excited that you can't.
I'm just excited to be here.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
I'm just I wish I could. I can't, son of
a gun.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
I just love doing great sports talk, and we're gonna
be here. Look, we got a little eat sports talk,
a little snip, you know, if you got a real
long nose, sometimes people go in for a little snip.
Not me, but uh, we're gonna have a little snip
in our third hour. So we'll have two long segments
instead of three segments in the third hour because UCLA
UTAs State, not mcmee'se UCLA Utahs State. How do you

(04:35):
know that the moment we've been waiting for with coach
Cronin is here tonight in the first round of the
tournament in Lexington, Kentucky. Welcome to college basketball, buddy. How
do you like me. Now, is it it rup Arena?

Speaker 2 (04:50):
I think it is it rop Yeah, why not? Let's
go Louiso had an essential home game earlier today, but
Creighton slapped him around pretty good.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
Yeah that old guy.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Oh my god, his wife and his kid in the
stands male pattern baldness, bit of a ymca at six
o'clock after work, Tip looked to him. He just put
it on Louisville.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
I tell you, it is an exciting tournament. We enjoy
it every year. But we have our own tournament excitement
coming up at like six twenty five first pitch, so
we'll be done at like five fifty five. And I
believe that is an accurate statement.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
And today Oregon Liberty, Oh.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
Okay, the flames versus the Ducks, right nobody talked about
the Ducks getting flamed up. No, not yet. We'll see
We're on top of this in a big way. Looks
like BYU is taking it to the VCU rams right now.

Speaker 6 (05:53):
Make way for BYU.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
Say hey, it's me why?

Speaker 3 (06:03):
And the SEC is getting kicked in the junk by
Gonzaga right now. In the eight and nine Georgia in
the Bulldog Battle humiliated taking it to the poots Georgia
looking like some French bulldogs right back. Yeah, those said
the words you attack those dogs, man, Yes, those stupid dogs.
You know, at least they're really cheap though the French.

(06:25):
Oh yeah, they're like fifty buzz you know, you get
them from the pound, you get them from a Oh no,
they're being they're being stolen by people there.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
It's like wearing a freaking Rolex out like me. I
guess people have Rolex, Like, isn't even the thing anymore? Right,
you gotta like be even.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
People still like Rolex they're talking about.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
I know it was like ap and bright Lean and
all these dumb ass jeweler No.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
We just no annoying people like Colin Cowherd and Pad O'Bryan.
But but no, I think Rolex is still a thing.
People still get, Okay, their dad's Rolex when their dad
died and they flost the Rolex. And Rolex is still
like a sponsor for all kinds of tennis.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
All tennis and golf stuff.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
Tournament, it's an F one stuff. Yeah, I think we're
good with Rolex. Here's what we're gonna do today. We're
gonna talk to James Worthy and we can even talk
to him about his North Carolina tar heels come on
and raise.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Up, shutting everybody up.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
Maybe he's got something to say about mcgude. And we
also we also are going to talk to David Vasse,
who flew back and feels okay, landed last night with
the Dodgers from Japan, and maybe he has the latest.

Speaker 7 (07:33):
Well.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
I think he's trying to stay on that schedule. He's
trying to stay awake, get over the jet lag.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
It's possible.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
I'm gonna power through it by doing an interview with
petros in Money because that always pumps me full of adrenaline,
and they.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
Could be that to me. It could be that it
could very well be a follow up to a story
that doesn't have very long legs, the Rodney Pete Max
Munsey story. Dave can give us his.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
Perspective after talking to both parties.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
I believe he did. I don't know if he addressed Rodney.
I know Tim Kates did. Tim Kates did for sure.

Speaker 5 (08:07):
Dave saw the comments on social media, which were everywhere
in the last twenty four.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
Un what I did notice earlier today as I was
present digitally when Tim Kates checked to see his amount
of views on his interview with Rodney on the AM
five seventy LA Sports Instagram feed, and I believe Kate's
though it's up to half a million. Was disappointed. He

(08:31):
thought he was going to see something, and I said, look,
the story doesn't have very long time, you know, I
mean the tournament started, Tim. You know, it's not the
long legged striding story that it would have been if
months he cussed him out or hit him or something.

Speaker 5 (08:45):
Yeah, but I'm still getting people commenting on the original
post from yesterday.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
Who the hell?

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Resa comments, Well, you wrote the word.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
You wrote the word interfered, so that made it seem
as if you were biased against our own colleague, Rodney Peat.

Speaker 5 (09:00):
Trojans people are oh typical, Brew, I wanted to blame
a Trojan. It's like, listen, idiot, I'm not.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
How they talk. Is that how the Trojans?

Speaker 5 (09:07):
That's the way I read it. Yes, just like that
one time you were calling a UCLA game and I
was like, this guy is so biasing, this guy with
jaws fired. And then I get a phone call, can you.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
Come on the Petro Petros on a popadagger show. I'm like, no, not.

Speaker 7 (09:21):
Going on that show.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
That's right. You try to get it fired. Don't go
on my mind.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
He's just gonna shout you down. I don't go all fired.
You try to get me fired. I wasn't gonna.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
I like reading those comments, And the boy said, typical fan.

Speaker 3 (09:33):
Probably not, probably not. The state fans handled the sun
shine on the pier and all the beach, probably not.
Probably not.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
Oh no, oh god, no, oh, son of a bitch.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
No, probably not. I want to address this at all.

Speaker 5 (09:50):
It literally got past months. You no reason to him
to be upset. Good play, Rodney, loser stuff about we
were winning at halftime?

Speaker 7 (09:58):
Probably not.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
Are you mad that your story doesn't have legs anymore?

Speaker 5 (10:03):
It has stalled out, Yes, but until.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
Monday when it gets revived on Rogan and Rodney.

Speaker 5 (10:08):
Oh yeah, wait till his hands on this.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
Oh, when they're finally back at work. Oh, I did
see an undercover text what that Fred said sent somebody
allegedly it's a text o. So somebody on the text
also knows Fred and had a correspondence with Fred about
it and sent me the screenshot. Mcneuth. So I got

(10:32):
that screen.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Do you want to share it or no?

Speaker 3 (10:34):
I don't know. You can't wait no, no, no, I mean.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
Wait, wait a minute, real quick. What day did you
say they were coming back Monday? Somebody said monday and
he had a glove, yes and hit a glove. No,
not the person, Matt. I thought you said, yeah, no
and he hit a glove. I know I'm here at
home today watching McNeese.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
Is that right? Yeah, that's right there at the station.

Speaker 5 (11:00):
Did you know the McNeese head coach has already taken
the NC state.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
Job McNee and had a glove? Yes, he took it,
I think yesterday, right.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
Quote.

Speaker 5 (11:08):
There's no need to hide it. The guys are reading
on social media. It's no secret. I'm not gonna ask
them to do something I'm not willing to do. It's
no good if you don't address it and you sit
there bs and them they know they can read it
through the BS.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
Did you as well just say it? Did you know
that the McNeese equipment manager signed a six digit deal
with death Jam this morning? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (11:30):
Do you know why guys don't care anymore? Kates Because
he's like, hey, guys, I'm gonna bring you with me
and you're gonna get paid double. But they don't give
a damn anymore.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
They all reevaluate after the year. No matter what everybody does.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
Dumb ass Kates doesn't matter anymore. Kates, stupid idiot. Listen, guys,
I'm going to n C State and I'm gonna get
you some sweet Oakley's.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
I hear.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
When you took a bottle, when you take a gig.
At NC State, there are some sweet Oakley Blades.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
Coach there for like five five years that wore sunglasses.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
The squarest head with.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
Forever associated this coach and his blades with ed C State,
not Dave Doring, who's a great coach. He's been there
a long time. Anyway, we are going to talk to
James Worthy, We are going to talk to David Vasse.
We'll do a top story of the day three things Thursday,
and we'll do a little Utah State scouting report because

(12:26):
it's important you know your opponent. What Fred alleged and
he had a glove, was that he would have needed
a glove.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
There you go, grown man wearing a glove in the
stands not a good look. Well it was complimentary, doesn't matter.

Speaker 3 (12:46):
The next thing you're gonna tell me is I'm not
allowed to grab a menfall from the bathroom attendant next
time I'm at the club. It's complimentary, but it's not
a good looks.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
Hey, that's complimentary. You're a bad guy, all right. That
guy's got to stand in there and smell people blown
out all night long. He deserves at least a dollar
for that one newport.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
I'm just saying, you know, I mean, if I grab
a if I grab a.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
Cool, I'm good with you smoking a cool, even if
it's a cool mild, even if it's a cool mild
one hundred. But I'm not okay with grabbing a glove
and being a grown man.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
I got this text just now, Pete. I went to
McNeice and I have a Rolex, so I got that
going for me. Yeah, you gotta be your day, look
at your wrists and say, I think it's time for
some m Let's go pokes. Okay, we'll be back. We're
gonna talk to James Worthy and then we're gonna talk

(13:42):
to McNeice.

Speaker 5 (13:43):
Vas say, you know, most people don't even know where
McNeice is love, Well now they do, Kates, people didn't
know where George Mason was.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
These people are so stupid. They didn't even know where
UMBC was when they made their run. That's right there
on their jersey.

Speaker 3 (13:59):
Kate's is getting expeded. On the text, this says Kate
Kates is desperately trying to search for his new viral
video like he searches for coke. Got a bump, got
some rock? You got some blow boy.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
Got a boom? What you know what?

Speaker 7 (14:15):
Kates?

Speaker 3 (14:16):
All right, We're gonna keep top loading. James Worthy is next.
Thanks for being with us.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
Going till five fifty five, and then you will get
UCLA pregame six twenty five. You'll get UCLA Utah State.
The NCAA tournament is underway. McNeice is already your twelve
seed that has advanced, knocking off number five Clemson. Time
now though, for us to have a conversation with James Worthy.

(14:47):
It's where we raise. Our families are a living and
enjoy life. But when disaster strikes, it takes all of
us to come together, rebuild and make it home again.
Your southern California four dealers are helping first responders with
donations and support to the LA Fire Department in California.
Community wildfire recovery is well as feeding America in the
American Red Cross if your vehicle was damaged by the
recent La area fires. Your southern California Ford Dealers are

(15:07):
offering you employee pricing plus no payments for one hundred
and twenty days because this is our home too. It
takes all of us to turn heartache into hope, rebuild
and make home again. Ellie's strong, Build Ford Proud.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
It's time for James Worthy. An up and down emotional
week for James Worthy. People attacking us all the manor
and then retribution. He joins us now. One of the
greatest players in the history of the NBA, one of
the greatest Lakers in the history of that story franchise

(15:38):
Lakers have been exciting for a month or so now
and James Worthy is always great. Emmy Award winner Spectrum
Sports net LA and he's here with us now on
the Petrosen Money Show like he joined us every Wednesday
at this time. It's appointment listening. What's cracking, James? How
are you all?

Speaker 7 (15:57):
Good?

Speaker 5 (15:57):
Man?

Speaker 7 (15:58):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (15:58):
Man?

Speaker 7 (15:58):
Look call out again, saying just because they want to
see them them old Michael Jordan clips. You know what
I'm saying, They want to run them old films back
that that's just enough to get Carolina in right there, man,
you know what I mean exactly right?

Speaker 3 (16:13):
Were you caught up emotionally in that in the whole
Carolina saga out west, James, or or did you just kind.

Speaker 7 (16:21):
Of take it? Look, I knew that, I knew they
were on the bubble, I knew they were on the
border line. But look, yeah, once you're in, you're in.
Stop crying. I thought we deserved to be And I
mean we played pretty good down the stretch one six
or seven in the history. Sometimes you gotta go with
the brand, man, Carolina is a good brand, and those

(16:44):
guys don't know what they're doing anyway when they're picking.
So when you get in, you're just.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
They smoked San Diego State in the first four, James. Now, like,
how give us an idea of how invested you are?
They got all miss in the first round. Some people think,
even though it's an eleven six, that that North Carolina
matches up well in that game, and that they might
even match up really well against Iowa State. Like, what
are your expectations now? And how invested do you get?

Speaker 7 (17:11):
I'm invested every time we're in the bubble, every time
we're in there, every time we're in the uh, in
the in the in the in the college. March madis'
I don't care where we are, where we seeded, or
where we're playing or because I know anything can happen. Uh,
this is not our most dominant Carolina team, but they
play hard. Anything can happen. You know, there's been major upsets.

(17:32):
The pressure is on the teams that are highly seeded.
You gotta win and so uh, there's no like really
pressure on you. Oh Miss is not going to be easy.
I think they might be favorite, but I think we
match up well. We got some really good guards, and
when you get into the NCAA's you need playmakers. You

(17:54):
need guys that can put it on the floor and
make things happen. And we have three pretty good ones.
So I'm going with that. You know, it's game by game.
Each game you win, the more confidence you gain. So
they got to get this and against oh Miss and
go for the next one. I think we're going to
get too.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
I know we've asked you before, but we always love
reliving it. James, you won the tournament in eighty two.
It's one of the all time great NCAA tournament teams.
You were the most Outstanding Player of the Final Four.
Like when we say that, is there anything in particular
that comes to mind.

Speaker 7 (18:30):
When you say that I've won the most Outstanding Player?

Speaker 2 (18:34):
Just anything about the nineteen eighty two run. The first
thing that pops into your mind.

Speaker 7 (18:39):
The first thing that pops into my mind is Dean Smith. First.
That's what pops into my mind because as a kid,
I watched him lose with Walson Davis and Mitch Cupcheck
and those guys in Phiel four and one of the
greatest men are one of the greatest coaches on earth

(19:00):
with one of the winning his records. And then we
had lost to Indiana the year before in nineteen eighty one.
So rarely do you get back to the to the
Final four two years in a row. That didn't happen
a lot, and we did that, and so that was
the first thing that popped in my mind. We got
to win this damn thing for Coach Smith, because he

(19:24):
was one of these coaches that if you won, he
had great players. If he lost, he didn't prepare you enough.
So we we made it a point to try to
get one for him. And we only had really six players.
We only played six players buzz Peterson came in to
give Michael from rest. We had another guy, Chris Bruss,

(19:45):
who played like thirty seconds a game just to give
us a blow. So, and Georgetown was deep. Georgetown was deep, Dad,
you know. So the first thing that popped in my
mind though, was we just lost last year. That's not
do it again and win for coach Smith. That was
on my mind for most of the games.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
The great James Worthy remembering a great time, and that's
a fun thing to watch about. March Madness is the
performance under pressure, the young men competing. It's a lot
of fun. The older guys are pretty big attraction too,
and it feels like, you know, the Lakers sort of
survived the shock of that road trip and Lebron's injury

(20:26):
and they've settled into to being a good looking team
headed into the playoffs waiting for Lebron to come back.
Is that accurate?

Speaker 7 (20:36):
I do think that's that's pretty accurate, you know, positioning
them themselves in the top four, you'd like to stay there.
It's nice to have home court advantage that first round,
you know. Taking care of Denver last night without Jokisch
and Murray was a big, big one. Milwaukee would be

(20:57):
nice to get at home. You want to win at home.
They got, you know, some finish out the season. Some
you know, a tough schedule, tough road trip, and they're
they're they're playing well. I give Reddick a lot of
credit for getting these guys to buy it to the defense,
small ball defense too. When Ad left, nobody thought that

(21:18):
Hayes would, you know, step up the way he is.
They thought it would be Mark Williams and and so
and and Luca. I'm telling you, man, I still have
to pinch myself to think that we got that kid
at twenty five years old, and he's just not getting started.
He is. He's loving throwing the lobs to to the players.

(21:40):
He loves Luca loves his teammates, especially those role players.
And so I sense good chemistry. I sense, you know,
a defensive squad that knows how to lock up when
they need to. I see that probably the best third
will Uh in the NBA. Uh And and Austin Reid.

(22:01):
You know, we talk about Lebron and Luca, but reason
Luca have a really good relationship too. So it's starting
to feel good. We get ruly and Lebron back, and
we go down the stretch, you know, with some with
some strong play and getting the playoffs and see what happens.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
Yeah, keep with that, James with with Austin just because
kind of what you've seen from him since Luca's arrived.
And I know Lebron's not out there, but you know,
you got a thirty seven point game. You got I
mean his assists and just sort of kind of replicating
what Luca does out there. He's got a tennisist thirteen
assist game, had eight, you know last night against against

(22:38):
Denver with a twenty two point two steel. Just he
looks a little different, doesn't he like he's playing what's
different about his game? Because I can't put my finger
on it.

Speaker 7 (22:50):
Well, he's an original gym rat. You know, he lives
in the gym. Four years of college. I'll say it again,
he's gone through the drail rock and by the way,
the guy shot at sixty seven on the golf course
the other day too. By the way, I'll just throw
it in the discipline, sixty seven for discipline. But I

(23:11):
think he's a he's super smart. So his ability to
pick up stuff on his own and then also to
play with two great players like Lebron and Luca. He's
picking up on some of their stuff, throwing the lib
you know, not afraid to shoot. You know, when you open,

(23:34):
don't defer. He's not deferring anymore. And I don't think
there's anybody. Luca does it in slow motion and so
this reason gets up under people and draws files. He's
he's he's learning from playing with two great players and
his confidence after playing on the USA team with Steve Kerr,

(23:58):
that to me was like, oh, really, I'm undrafted and
I've been in the league a few years and you
guys are asking me to play for USA. That was
a that was a big confidence building for him, getting
around all those guys, seeing how they work out and
how they you know, survived, and the brother is I

(24:21):
tell you, man, watch out. He's on his way to
being an All star.

Speaker 3 (24:26):
James Worthy speaking the truth on the Petros and Money Show.
Did you ever think you'd see a day where any
NB I mean, I know the Celtics are like the Lakers,
you know, a franchise that that is globally recognized. But
six point one billion dollars, James six point one billion
for the Celtics.

Speaker 7 (24:47):
Ain't worth it. Purpose ain't worth it. Yeah, you know,
look that's me for real. They're great organization historically from
red Ar back until now. You have to give them
credit where credit is due. They patiently waited for their

(25:09):
players to evolve. Mason Trad's here and there you got
Tatum Brown, porzingis white, and so they're they're you know,
they're they're they're right there to try to win a
back to back, which hadn't been done in a while.
So clean is going to have something to say about that.
There's gonna be some other teams, you know, maybe Milwaukee.

(25:30):
Uh so, yeah, you got to give them credit. So yeah,
the one and only time because I like Bill Russell
and I like Casey Jones, and you know, I like
some of those old farts. But I'll give them a
little credit.

Speaker 2 (25:43):
And your best friend corn Bread the FF. Would you
and I'm not saying like you should sell and nothing
like that. If you owned a basketball team and you
just saw the Celtics get six point one billion dollars
and you knew you could probably get at least six
point two billion dollars, would you be able to hold

(26:04):
onto that team or must you just cash out for
six point two billion dollars.

Speaker 7 (26:11):
I would have to talk to a strategist and say,
where do you see it in three more years? Is
it gonna be nine or ten? I'd wait that out. Man.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
You would with it again again? Man, six billion?

Speaker 7 (26:28):
What are you gonna do with ten that you can't
do with.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
Six six billion?

Speaker 7 (26:32):
I wouldn't. I wouldn't even buy plane either. I just
fly first class all the time. That's and get off.

Speaker 3 (26:40):
I doubt it.

Speaker 7 (26:41):
I get VIP, I get VIP lounges everywhere, and just
fly on the first class and go through the bookstores
and have a good time.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
That's right, because you're a man of the people. You
want to meet the people.

Speaker 3 (26:52):
I'm not like you guys. You know. The one billion
would be enough for me. Uh just I'm a humble man.
Just the one. I'll tell you we love you, James,
Thank you so much, and have a great week and
go heal go, yeah it, let's go mcneece.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
Mcneas there he goes James Worthy. Courtesy of your Southern
California four Dealers, a reminder of your vehicle was damaged
by the recent La Area fires, Your Southern California four

this is their home to La Strong guild Ford Prof.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
Mcdeeese, David Vase back from Japan, State sidea A, we'll
join us next.

Speaker 2 (27:45):
Tonight U Clau Toss State six twenty five pm Tip,
Tomorrow Clippers Grizz seven thirty tip, and then Sunday Dodgers

their twenty twenty five campaign. Dodgers angels for three in

Speaker 3 (28:06):
Well, bat, he's back and he's bad. It's David Vasse
on The Pettersen Money Show, ready to talk Dodgers, ready
to talk about his very exciting trip to Japan, the
Home of the Dodgers, with an inside look at the Dodgers.

(28:29):
This is the Vassie Report with David Vasse.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
What do you mean woke come up? I told him
three forty five. Then we did him a favor if
we woke m.

Speaker 3 (28:37):
Up, Well, I don't know I mean, if he was
gonna wake up when it was all dark and be
like all bleary and weird, you know, and snapping at everybody.
But nobody likes waking up and answering questions. I mean
I did that.

Speaker 7 (28:50):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
I do that every Wednesday with Jonas Knox and The
LeVar and Brady Show. And it's no picnic. Tell you that,
Matt to answer question. It's about Luka doncic.

Speaker 2 (29:01):
I think the Lakers could win it.

Speaker 3 (29:04):
So joining us now on your Southern California Toyota Dealer
celebrity hotline. A little bleary, a little worse for wear
and tear. It is the one and only David Vassa
back from Japan. Adjusting. Oh I bet that's just like
pounding in his ears, adjusting, adjusting very well. Back to

(29:29):
our lives here Stateside. Hello, Dave, how are you?

Speaker 8 (29:35):
I'm great, guys, Yes, adjusting to the time change, but
all good and ready to go. And yes, I think
the Dodgers can win it all.

Speaker 2 (29:44):
Yeah, okay, I think the Dodgers can win it.

Speaker 3 (29:46):
That's great, that's good. You know, at least you're up. Okay, Dave?
Was it the trip of a lifetime? Was it the
most eye opening trip of your life.

Speaker 8 (29:56):
Well, I was thinking about it. I've been to what
four different international countries with the Dodgers, starting with Sydney Australia,
and then obviously Korea last year, Tokyo this year, and Monterey,
Mexico with the Dodgers as well, where they threw that

(30:17):
combined no hitter. This one was. I would say it's
up there with Sydney Australia for sure. I Mean, you
hear so much about how great Tokyo and Japan is,
and they have such a great passion for the game
of baseball that certainly came through. So yeah, it was
a great time all around. I think everybody on the trip,
players especially, had a great time.

Speaker 2 (30:39):
Dave, how are you feeling today? Do you think you
will be back to normal in exactly one week, because
that's what we'll be asking the Dodgers do when they
resume the regular season against the Tigers.

Speaker 8 (30:52):
Yeah, I know, Key k Hernandez was saying this while
we were there. Getting back to play a freeway series
game exhibition games after playing two games that do matter.
It's a little bit of an adjustment, but certainly I
think it's good for the Dodgers to be able to
ease back into it, and hopefully we'll have Mookie Beds

(31:12):
and Freddie Freeman in the starting lineup for the Dodgers
next Thursday. I think that's the biggest thing right now
on the mind of the Dodgers is will Freeman be
ready to go next Thursday. I know Dave Roberts said
he thinks he'll be ready to play for this Freeway Series,
but that might be a little bit. I don't know.

(31:33):
We'll have to wait and see.

Speaker 3 (31:35):
I guess Eddie Young pitchers first year in the major
leagues is going to be pendulous. But it doesn't seem
like the concerns about Roki Sasaki are valid or as
valid as they were during the spring training. It looks
like he's a guy that's going to be able to
pitch for the Dodgers this year a lot. Am I

(31:56):
right wrong to say.

Speaker 8 (31:58):
No, he has electric stuff and that was evident for
those three innings in Japan. But you know it did
rear its ugly head in that third inning where he
threw twenty eight pitches because he couldn't find fastball command
and was all over the strike zone. And the Cubs
are not a great hitting team. If that happens against

(32:18):
a better hitting team, he's going to be he would
have to pay for it a little bit more, but
he has electric stuff. He throws one hundred miles an
hour and that makes up for a lot of different shortcomings.
But yeah, by the end of the year, Petros, people
around the Dodgers believe he is going to be a
major weapon for them, and much better than what we're

(32:40):
going to see in the first couple of months of
this transition for him.

Speaker 2 (32:45):
Dave, in terms of just kind of what you saw
out there in the field, I know it was no
Mookie Betts, but you know, we kind of wondered how
this lineup was going to shake out. PAHs was out
there just kind of do you see a hold? Do
you see any issues how they might construct this ruster
as the season wears on.

Speaker 8 (33:03):
Yeah, I think if you're trying to really pick it apart,
if they wanted to add something, maybe a more fluid
center fielder. I mean, Pajes is a really good outfielder,
but I wouldn't say center fields is best defensive position.
But I really do believe that Dodgers have to have
a really good young player on their hands and Paz

(33:26):
and he's only going to get better. I know the
hitting coaches believe that he saw it in those two
games in Tokyo. I feel like he had some of
the more underrated at bats because hitting ninth, he was
able to draw walks to turn the lineup over for Otani,
especially in that three run fifth inning in the first game,
he kind of kept the ball rolling there. So I

(33:48):
think Pahes is going to be one of those players
by the end of the season we're going to be
talking about more.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
Dave is certainly a trooper for coming on and we
appreciate you, Dave, coming back from Japan and making it
a priority to address the listeners here in Los Angeles.
How many times were you turned down for being an
American trying to go into different Japanese restaurants.

Speaker 8 (34:13):
Well, the first night that I was there with a
Japanese TV crew, that was something. I was going into
this thirty person capacity sashimi restaurant, local restaurant, and Orpungi
and I got the X, you know, the exhibit cross

(34:34):
with the forearms. But luckily the Japanese TV crew talked
the owner into letting me stay. And there was another
restaurant in Shibuya where I was with a couple of
Japanese media people two nights prior, and I went there
two nights later with only American reporters and also got

(34:56):
the X in a certain area.

Speaker 7 (34:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (34:59):
Yeah, so I would say twice certain certain places they
want locals only thoughts.

Speaker 2 (35:07):
It's like a surf break, Dave, thoughts on it.

Speaker 8 (35:09):
I didn't get kicked out of any bars for no
reason like I did in Sydney.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
Right right? But you you were denied service for the
way you look.

Speaker 8 (35:18):
Near in Japan?

Speaker 2 (35:19):
Yes, in both.

Speaker 3 (35:23):
Yes, yes, yes, Dave.

Speaker 2 (35:27):
Your thoughts on a grown man wearing a glove in
the stands to snag.

Speaker 8 (35:30):
File Well, my understanding reading reading the comments on our
anti seventy Instagram was that they were giving away helmets
and gloves in that section that Rodney was sitting in.
Rodney played third base at USC. I'm not sure if

(35:51):
you guys were aware of that.

Speaker 2 (35:52):
Didn't know that, glad you brought it up.

Speaker 3 (35:53):
Was aware?

Speaker 2 (35:55):
I hadn't heard that yet.

Speaker 8 (35:57):
Yeah, but I had aware from Muncie. When I walked
into the clubhouse. He's like, vast say, what the what
the F? I was like, Hey, don't look at me.
And it was I don't know it was. I didn't
think it was. It was a great play by a fan,
but I mean it's it's a fitting moment, and I

(36:19):
thought it was Rodney, who is well accustomed to same.
He got his extra five minutes the same in Japan
the other night. I don't think it's something that will
carry over into next week. I feel like we've turned
the page already in the twenty four to seven news cycle.

Speaker 2 (36:37):
Did you hear Rick Monday on the broadcast?

Speaker 8 (36:41):
I did not. Did Rick identify Rodney right away?

Speaker 2 (36:44):
He did? And and he had a glove?

Speaker 8 (36:49):
Yeah, they handed it out.

Speaker 2 (36:50):
Yeah, he had Hey listen, he pointed out, here's a
grown man wearing a glove. He did not snag that
with his bare hands. He was wearing a glove.

Speaker 6 (36:57):
And when you go had to the stands, you go
physically in the stands or reaching over. You know, it
doesn't matter that the fan can touch the baseball. You
know who it was that caught that ball that Moncey
was trying to catch. Who wasn't Rodney Pete?

Speaker 3 (37:16):
Is that right?

Speaker 8 (37:18):
Is that right?

Speaker 3 (37:20):
Something to talk about him a talk show?

Speaker 6 (37:22):
Oh, I'm sure we'll hear it.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
Rogan and Rodney go, yeah, and he's wearing a glove
and he had a glove.

Speaker 8 (37:31):
Hey, Rodney delivered. He called in to Tim cathe he
did work. He didn't take that to TMZ. He took
it to the home of Rogan and Rodney's.

Speaker 2 (37:41):
That's a true story.

Speaker 3 (37:42):
And you're right, you know it's not a given. You're right,
little surprised. Uh, thank you, Dave. And please, we're sorry
for waking Yabo. Stay awake, Dave, don't go back to bed.

Speaker 7 (37:53):
I'm awake.

Speaker 3 (37:53):
I'm awake.

Speaker 2 (37:54):
Yeah, stay awake.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
No, you're not there, He goes. David Vasse word number
song three Things Thursday, Dad and Alive. It's ahead of
your way.
