Speaker 3 (02:33):
So just it's a lot of people who are tell you,
Matt that meets a lot on Thursday. As the young
kids like to say it, hit different, right, and I
felt like doubling up. Don't follow us, no moss, although
I did not.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Well, you kind of did.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Oh yeah, that's right. I had a little extra beer.
You're right.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Yeah, we each got a tall Boy and then after
we yeah, you push, you push more beer on me,
double yeah, double. As I said, new regime, take advantage
of it. While you can take advantage of.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
New regime, My start is fresh and clean.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
They replenished those Modellos once everybody sucked them back.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
And they were so called and so refreshing and so Mexican,
and it felt so great to be part of the Doyers.
It was really a special day.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
Dave Weeze was like a telephone operator in the forties,
just on the phone all day talking to people getting
more food and drinks and next.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Week dollars Doyers. He was.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
He was like j Loo and the wedding Planner coordinating
dollars dollars doers.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
I like my er central station, connect me to the
beer dispenses.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
You don't like Jlo on the wedding Planner, Kates, you know,
like I like my anding lot of collect connections too.
She ordered the ice sculpture. Yeah, but I just see
like she ordered the Puzzo hardener for macconaughey.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
I just see think Kate's wants someone at a ink
of wires with the headset on operator sir, how can
I have just this hasn't happened like that. There's no
bank of why.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
This is Barney five?

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Can you connect me? That's what I picture? Yeah, that's cool. Yeah,
Hey Rob Parker, Hey fred a Barney Fife reference in there?

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Guys, Yes, sir, cookie kitchen, here you go, stay tuned
from Battlefield eight oh eight. Shut up, it's never gonna
happen again. You had to take advantage of it.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
Do you know what Jack Lelane's wife's name is. What
is it fred Elaine Lelane?

Speaker 2 (04:37):
Oh? Yeah, I mean we had three plates of cookies.
I think Craig had at least a dozen cookies at least.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
I don't know how long the border is going to
be open, Matt, as far as our new regime goes
when it comes to the suite, because I think liberties
were taken by some of our promotional types, some of
the people that would be considered to be well off limits.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
Yeah, it's kind of like mom and dad go out
of town and you say you're gonna have a couple
of friends over.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
When you take advantage, And next.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
Thing you know, there's the entire senior class, some dudes
that graduated the year before, and three or four kegs
have managed to show up.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
I can Yeah, and what you guys don't want to
get World Tribe? World Tribes available? It's only one hundred
and fifty bucks. We can charge five bucks at the door.
Well what about flood? Okay, well you can get flood too.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
I'm not sure they were get them both for three hundred.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Ruby and the Thorns. Okay, yeah, I'm in the point
is this. I'm worried that our new boss is gonna
see he's gonna see the bill for the suite. He's
gonna see that it was promotional scavengers and radio hangers
on like ourselves that spent that money. And there's going

(06:03):
to be a new world order, another new world order
that's I don't know.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Well, we we get the benefit of being there early,
so we can attack the platter before.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Well, we can leave it people without looking like it's
been picked over. So you know, But Matt, that brings
me to a question that I wanted to ask. It
was brought up in the other room with a couple
of vetananos like yourself. And I asked those vetananos, and
I asked Tim Cats if they remembered this story speaking
of radio hangers on, And they don't seem to remember.

(06:38):
And I could be tripping, but we've all heard a
lot of Steve Hartman stories over the years. I mean,
we love, we love Steve Hartman. Uh. Steve Hartman, great
part of the show, especially when it comes well, a
lot of different things. Hall of Fame talk. I had
a band in the valley in the aid, in the

(06:59):
dire need, I had a band in the valley in
the eighties talk.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
I mean I was the editor of the Daily Bruin,
sports editor of the Daily Bruin.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
And let's not forget about the uh.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
I mean, how much Raider talk do you want?

Speaker 3 (07:12):
I mean, yeah, you know, much cocaine. He's doing a reddit. Uh.
But I seem to remember I do. I seem to
remember a story where the conversation was a thing. I
remember a story from Steve where he and Vince Neil,

(07:35):
the lead singer of Motley.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
Crue who cannot sing anymore.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
Well, okay, I mean you have to add that. I mean,
you know, neither Huey Lewis, Matt. You know, we felt
bad for Huie, but not for Vince. Well, him and
Vince Neil. Me and Vince Neil were somewhere in the
Inlet Empire, either at a barbecue restaurant or a beer bar,
or maybe a hybrid of both, and they got a

(08:00):
a fistfight and fought their way like double dragon, back
to back out of the bar. And maybe Grant Show,
the guy from Melrose Place right, who was also Hartman's boy,
was involved. Yes, do I remember that story from my dreams?

Speaker 2 (08:24):
No?

Speaker 3 (08:24):
Okay, thank you, thank you, Matt, thank you, because no
one else blackmore Kate's I didn't ask Ronnie, uh because
he was in here working with Rogan and Rodney making
radio magic and our new boss Brian Long, who is
a Hartman Vetano as well, multiple locations. Right, thank you, Matt,

(08:46):
thank you, thank you. That is ani But it was
I E yeah, right Corellas.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
They were out at Button Willow at the racetrack getting
ready for the long Reach. Grandpa. Ah, that's why it
would be that. Yes, because when Hartman rubbed elbows with
the celebrities for the Grand Prix he used to the
celebrity race every single year. Well done, Mac, Yes, yes

(09:13):
you think they were, Yeah, yes, I think they were
in Lancaster. I believe. I think they were like out
at a book Springs or Button Willer or one of
those places. And yes, they were in the sticks and
someone at the bar was popping off and you got
it exactly right. It was the three of them Grant Show,
Vince Neil and Steve.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
Hart my friends. You guys get meh.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
Me yes, in a physical con and Steve has got
to be the biggest guy out of the three. Well
look at his shoulders. He's broad shoulders.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
Kevin McHale, right, Steve has the shoulders of a six
foot four man.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Michael Cage out there.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
So that did happen? That did happen?

Speaker 2 (09:51):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (09:52):
Now was the thrown or was it just tension to
the car? I remember back to back fighting, No double
dragon like fighting that part.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
I don't fight. Those calls could be right, but I
don't remember that. I thought it was just I do
think there was like some pushing and shoving like Hartman
Hacksay six ninety back in.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
The day, you bag of right now punching tea then.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
But yes, you are correct, there was there was some
physical confrontation. I don't know if it was back to
back fist throwing though.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
So my dream of a double Dragon like scene with
a heart like a video game Heartman and a video
game Vince Neil and a video game Melrose Place guy
right moving around various Latino dudes kicking and punching or
white trash types. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Yeah, I think I again, I do know there was
some sort of confrontation, but maybe a little less double Dragon,
maybe a little more kung fu put right, you know,
and then oh there was an official My question is, Matt,
is it worth it to ask car apartment?

Speaker 1 (11:04):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (11:04):
Not right now. Not to do this is something would
have to develop there.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
Well, the timing is, maybe we get Vince Neil if
he didn't just make fun of him for losing his voice.
Well there's that heard you lost your voice, Vince, the
Long Beach Grand Prius coming to town in a week.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
Not this involved this.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
So if we don't have a stint book that legends
where you could perhaps be ticketed.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
And tackled on the way out and made us pay
them my bill.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Your conversation failed to pay our our restaurant tab and
the restaurant owner refused to go gratus.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
At least he was red faced and like furious.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
Uh, at least a sort of damocles, like Indie car
wasn't hanging over our Oh.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
That's an F one, man, that's an F one. That's
an F what car correction retraction? Have we ever been
back to legends? I think we have since that guy
tackled me on the way out.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
I don't think so, we haven't. I don't think. I
don't think so that was our I don't think that.
I believe that was our last I thought at the
shore appearance.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
I did.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
I thought we would because I think they. I think
that was the end of the petros and money sponsorship
of the Long Beach Grand Prix. I don't think that
one dude, you know, the older gentleman with the tight
curl and the glasses, who would hover over our show
in every segment asking if we were going to talk
about the Long Beach Grand.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
Prix more, Oh yeah, remember that?

Speaker 2 (12:35):
Yeah? It's like, yeah, well, it's not kind of what
this is, right, It's more of us just celebrating coming
on down and partying. Here we are, and we do
the show, leave us like, come on down. I hate
you good time, You're right, man, I hate everybody. But
is it worth bringing Hartman on to find out what
really happened that day in that bar or barbecue restaurant
or both in Ledcaster or Riverside or wherever Willow Button

(12:59):
Button Willow? I think so yeah? Is it worth getting
each is April eleventh to thirteenth and.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
Playing some Vince Neil and being like, hey, what what
happened that day? Bomber? Is it worth it?

Speaker 2 (13:11):
What somebody got wide when there was a wise acre
there and he got a little lips.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
It was a wise acre, I said, red beans now.
And I think they all rolled out by the way
no no, not said priestly broke his whole body. And
I think they all rode out like banana boat style
with Lebron and Carmelo and Chris Paul. I think they
all roll out on the same motorcycle with Grant show

(13:37):
driving and Hartman like Ason Gary the ambiguously gay. They
all rolled out like, hey, hold on to my back, Vince,
Let's get out of here before these red eggs mollow us.
I think that's how.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
I remember it is a little bit of truth in that.
I think Hartman was driving. I do Thinktman said that.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
I thought they tripled up on a Harley. I thought
they tripled up on a Harley, you know, with their
junk rubbing into the other guy's back.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
I thought, well, it was a Harley with a sidecar
in the back.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
My back doesn't have a deaddy junk on it.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
Yeah, he was very excited to tell it, and I
think I do believe there was a little embellishing it,
like hart movie.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
No, no, no, I.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
Think that's what Hartman like, I had had to beat
some ass to protect this guy Grand Show, and that's
what they're saying.

Speaker 3 (14:25):
There was a guy that tried to punch He tried
to suck a punch Grand Show, and I caught his fist.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
I smashed the bones and I caught him fist.

Speaker 3 (14:35):
No, no embellishment, Matt, No, no, no.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
That's where that. That is. One of the great things
about about Hartman is he is more than happy to
tell those stories over and and whether it it puts
a a put it, whether it casts him in a
nice it doesn't matter.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
Like he is. And they threw me in a dumpster
and I slept with let us I love him at Fast.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
Exact the story of he and Hacksaw getting into a
chest bumpy. He started bubbing my chance and I started
bubbing hand and I said, you're not gonna do an
thing and he said, oh really, And I said that's that?

Speaker 3 (15:14):
Is that right? That's right?

Speaker 2 (15:16):
That is right? And he had a glove exactly right.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
So are you calling him? You're calling him right now?

Speaker 2 (15:25):
What else is he doing?

Speaker 3 (15:26):
He's calling Steve Hartman? But what if he's working? What
if he's doing his show?

Speaker 2 (15:30):
So and what he didn't have a show at Oh,
come Matt, No, I don't think he does. I think
he left San Diego. He was tired of living down there.
He wanted to move back up here. So I think
he's moved up here and he's doing stuff up here.

Speaker 3 (15:40):
Is he doing something in Arizona? Is he a Zona zone?
Is he fighting it out out there with Bickley? Is
he doing is he on Kate's He's not picking up?
Oh he is? Oh, we have a song for him
joining us right now impromptu on your Southern California Toyota.
Do other celebrity hotline? It is radio legend. Steve Hartman

(16:03):
often discussed on the show never duplicated.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
All right, missed the hell out of them.

Speaker 3 (16:09):
Steve, welcome, thank you well.

Speaker 5 (16:11):
First of all, understand this, guys, I am literally sitting
here waiting for your phone call. Yeah, I mean, I
anticipate at any moment the PMS is going to give
me a shout out. So I there for you whatever
you need to talk about it.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
Well, I remembered a story and I tried to remember
it to Brian Long and Blackmore and Kate's and none
of them remembered. Matt remembered it vividly. Where you got
in a fight, you fought your way out of a
bar or something with Vince Neil and Grant show, Matt

(16:50):
says in Lancaster like.

Speaker 2 (16:52):
Button Willow or Willows or something like that.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
Right, take it away, Steve, please.

Speaker 5 (16:57):
All right. So this was nineteen ninety five. This was
the first year that I got involved with the Toyota
Pro Celebrity Race. As you know, I was part of
that for twenty two straight years, but the first time
I was actually brought in to race in nineteen ninety five,
and I had no idea what this was about. All
I knew is we had to meet at a hotel

(17:19):
in Lancaster because we were going to train for the
race out at Willows Spring, which is way out by
Edwards Air Force Base. So we get there and it
was funny because one of the well two of the
guys that were in the race were on new shows
on NBC Matt LeBlanc from Friends, Yes and.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
What is It?

Speaker 5 (17:48):
Anthony Edwards m R. So they were in the race
because obviously MBC was trying to promote these shows. Well
by the time of the race and we're training in
March already, both these shows were huge shows. So and
then Vince Neil's in the race. Now Vince Neil had
actually broken off for Motley Crue at this point, so

(18:11):
he had a falling out with Motley Crue. And I'll
be honest with you, all the different selebrities, like we
had Cameron Diaz in the race and she had only
done one movie, The Mask.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
That's it.

Speaker 5 (18:22):
You know, she was like this twenty two year old.
We thought, ohow, it is smoking hot blode. We saw
her Jim carrying the Mask and everything else. So anyway,
we decide we're going to go out outside of the
hotel looking for a bar in Lancaster. So it's me,
it's Vince Neil, It's Matt la Blah. I mean everyone

(18:43):
was gravitating around Vince Neil. I mean the stories were endless.
But we'd go into this bar and I don't know
how many times he'd been out at Lancaster and by
the way, for the Lancaster listeners, I love you and
this is a long time. It was the thirty years ago.
But there were a couple of guys in there that
definitely had a few too many, and you know, all

(19:07):
of a sudden, like if you know the locals and Lancaster,
Vince Neil doesn't exactly fit in. And the next thing
and the next thing, you know, words are exchange. Yeah,
and all of a sudden, you know, guys are like
coming at Vince Neil and look, I'm not a fighter,

(19:28):
I'm a lover, but you know, I got to have
my guys back. And so the next thing, you know, uh,
you know, punches were not exactly thrown, but definitely people
were grabbing people and Vince Dia wasn't going to back

(19:49):
down to anybody, especially as much alcohol as he had
taken in that night. So uh, yeah, it got heated
that night.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
Was was.

Speaker 5 (20:03):
He definitely into it. Yeah, I mean this his first year.
Matt LeBlanc was friends. Yeah, you know, Matt was ready
to mix it up. Grant Show. You mentioned Grant Show,
who was on nine oh two one oh. He might
have been our biggest star in the race. Uh at
that time.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
Come on, Vince take start my heart.

Speaker 5 (20:25):
I know well believe me. For Grant Show and for
everybody else, I guarantee Vince Neil was the biggest star there.
And by the way, just a quick side note, a
year later, I'm covering the race and we had our
setup there, uh, in the area where all the different
radio stations were. And Vince Neil came back the next year.

(20:48):
He wasn't in the race, but he came back and
you know he saw maybe, hey, Hartvin comes over, does
an interview with me. We finished the interview and callers
are calling in, like Hartman, you freaking know Vince Neil,
like you have a level of credibility that we never
were going to give you before, simply by having Vince

(21:10):
Neil acknowledge your existence. So Vince Neil played a big
role in that. So yeah, Vince Neil nineteen ninety five
in a bar in Lancaster. He was approached and yeah,
they were ready to drop the gloves, but security got
it going before we really mix it up.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
And I was security with Steve Hartman.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
I know that now this could this story could not
be better, even if you remember the name of the bar.
I mean absolutely, just that we didn't.

Speaker 5 (21:42):
Even look at the name of the bar and we
were there for a while. Guys, we are knocking him down.
I mean Vince, I'm monny. I know you've seen The
Motley Crew, like the documentary that and you can see
how act of Vince Neel was. Yeah he yeah, he

(22:04):
was legendary. Yeah, but that was actually at a time
when he was out of Motley Crue. He had broken
off from the band before they brought him back.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
Incredible Hartman, the freaking ring leaders. You said he was
the straw that stirred to drink my ass. It was
Steve Hartman. That's who got Matt LeBlanc and Grant Show
and Cammy d launched.

Speaker 3 (22:22):
All their careers.

Speaker 2 (22:23):
The money.

Speaker 5 (22:25):
You know so much of Anthony Edwards, who, by the way,
I passed up he and uh Mark Paul Gossler, oh race, yes, yes.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
Why did they cut off the celebrity race, Hartman is
because Priestley exploded. Jason Priestley, well.

Speaker 5 (22:43):
Jason Prizzy was in that race, but he wasn't part
of the training. He was so big with nine O
two and zero and felt like I am a uh.
The guy that took him out of the race was
Matt LeBlanc. Matt Oblanc and Priestley got into it, and
then Mark, Paul Gossler and Anthony Edwards crashed. Alfonso Roberto
took off Glenn Quinn who was there. Unfortunately, he died

(23:06):
of a drug overdose a few years later after that. Fortunately,
but I actually finished third that year in the race,
which wasn't too bad, wasn't too bad at all. And
then they asked me to come back to him see
the event the next year, and I never left. So
the race ended in twenty sixteen. I did the last
twenty two years, and that's because no longer was Toyota

(23:28):
a sponsor of the race, and that's why it ended.

Speaker 2 (23:31):
Incredible Steve's great memories, guys, incredible.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
A radio prints that we love and we think, thank
you Steve for.

Speaker 5 (23:39):
Being on stand now here here here's the key, guys,
because I know that my dear friend Brian Long and
I hope you guys are getting along with Brian. I
don't know how you cannot. He's a great guy. He's
got to bite me to the building, That's all I'm asking.
He's he's been so busy with the Dodgers and running
KFI and everything else. I mean, he's canceled on me

(24:01):
three times for a breakfast meeting.

Speaker 3 (24:04):
He's huh, no, we try to go over to Patties.
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (24:10):
I was like, where do you want to meet? I'll
meet you somewhere. You know, I'm sort of in and
out of town, so yeah, find a place. I've been
doing all this TV recently. It was really crazy. I
was at Dodgers Stadium Friday night, first time I'd been
the press box in ten years. Guys, Wow, I feel
like I'm back in the fold right now. You know,
Robin Elbows with all the big timers in the LA Market.

Speaker 3 (24:29):
You are a tim in the La Market.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
Steve, that's heroes well.

Speaker 5 (24:33):
For a few times, but but guys, I want to
get there. I want to be in there and here
see you and Tim and shiver the butt running five
exactly right.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
Yes, Ah, the best, the best of the best.

Speaker 5 (24:45):
Thanks guys. All right, well, if you want, you guys
want to call me back in ten minutes, I'll still
be all right.

Speaker 3 (24:50):
Well, am, I thank you, thank you.

Speaker 5 (24:52):
See I'm here at your disposal.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
They Wow, that's a hell of a story.

Speaker 5 (25:00):
Thank you, Steve.

Speaker 3 (25:02):
Matt you you're a real hero. Matt, that's a hell
of a story. Well, Matt, but you remember the Lancaster part. Yeah,
it wasn't Willow, but it was something else.

Speaker 4 (25:13):
How about Matt Leblanci in the vault too?

Speaker 2 (25:15):
Yeah, that I forgot little fiery little lanterns. It's hot
blonde kevyd Is.

Speaker 3 (25:23):
I broke my jaw at a bar in Lancaster trying
to defend a person that I never talked to again
named Vince Neil. Drug addled tornado from a hairband. We'll
be back. We got tournament awards, ladies and gentlemen, tournament awards. Yes,
we will celebrate the tournament. We will talk Dodgers in

(25:44):
the top story. We will have Brett Boone on a
lot of great sports talk to come. But that Vince
Neil's story is pretty pretty class a chip.

Speaker 2 (25:55):
It's a show about a show. Home of the World,
champion Dodgers Dodgers braves tonight, many predicting that could be
the NLCS come October, but tonight three starting tonight, Tyler Glass,
now making his twenty twenty five debut, Dodgers on deck

(26:16):
at six, first pitch at seven.

Speaker 3 (26:18):
All right, Matt, we got how is your weekend coming up? Next?
We just had a wonderful walk down memory lane from
the mid nineties with our dear friend Steve Hartman, which
was epic. But right now it's time for the twenty
twenty five Tournament Awards. We'll do one more next Tuesday. Matt.
The elephant in the room that Frank Stallone is washing?

(26:43):
Is it all four number one seeds that made the
Final four? The only other time that happened was twenty
oh eight. Do we remember the twenty oh eight Final four?
Turn on bruins Lie Memphis. Kansas beat North Carolina Memphis

(27:04):
and KU played a great final.

Speaker 2 (27:06):
Mario Chalmers.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
John Caliperry's Memphis team choked away the late game lead
Kansas one on a clutch jumper by Rio, as Lebron
used to call him before he called Lebron a bitch
and was traded the most dominant storyline of the twenty
twenty five tournament so far has been the SEC. On
selection Sunday, the SEC earned a record setting fourteen NCAA

(27:33):
tournament bids. Florida and Auburn led the way by receiving
one seats, and then seven of those four SEC teams
advanced in the Sweet sixteen in the Elite eight. All
four regional final games featured an SEC team. Peterson Money
Show listener and contributed George Obama was in He'll Billy

(27:55):
Heaven for all the SEC teams, battling and hoping for
an all SEC Final four In the end, though, two
SEC teams that made the Final four, and one of
them will play on Monday night next Saturday in San Antona.
It'll be Auburn versus Florida in the Yearlygue game at

(28:18):
three Duke Houston in the late game in five point thirty.
Both games are on CBS. So with the stage set,
it is time for our second of three chapters for
the twenty twenty five Tournament. A one. We begin with
the Capture of the Flag Award. Matta was Don McClain
that put Cooper Flag on our radar two years ago

(28:40):
when Cooper and Trent McLain were in the twenty twenty
six recruiting class. Flag eventually reclassified to the twenty twenty
five recruiting class and joined Duke last summer. He didn't
turn eighteen until December. He leads Duke and scoring rebounds, assists,
and blocks this season. Doesn't set enough screens though, can't

(29:02):
take him? No, what's shut the screens? He's making five
million dollars in the nil this season, and all this
hype for him, you can say, and usually this is
very rare on all the hype he over delivered. Will
be the first pick on the NBA Draft this June. Unfortunately,

(29:23):
the NBA team that captures Flag will be like the Wizards,
or the Hernets or the Pelicans. The Mazzle Tafeward those
of the men's final four with features three Jewish head
coaches this year, Matt, My guys, I mean, could you
be Andy Moore, Geeth Beyond Keith, Auburn's Bruce Pearl, Duke's

(29:48):
John Shire, and Florida's Todd Golden are all really good
coaches who happened to be Jewish. Calvin Samson is a
great coach who happens to be of an of American ancestry.
Who's the best of the group, You be the judge.
Bruce Pearl was riding high at Tennessee until he got

(30:11):
popped with a three year ncublea show cause penalty in
twenty eleven. He's been an Auburn since twenty fourteen. He
had one other Final Four team in twenty nineteen. Calvin
Sampson has been a head coach at Washington State, Oklahoma
in Indiana. His Hoosiers gig crash landed in the middle
of the twenty eight season when he received a five

(30:31):
year at C double a show cause penalty for phonecos
We're building a theme here. That sent Samson in the
NBA assistant coaching ABYSS world until he resurfaced at Houston
like a log in the sea in twenty fourteen. This
is Kelvin's third Final Four. He took Houston in twenty

(30:53):
twenty one in Oklahoma and O two Todd Golden's third
season in Gainesville. He was an assistant at Columbia and
then an assistant at Auburn under Pearl. Previous head coaching
experience was at the University of San Francisco. The Gators
have a meteoric rise under Golden, but he has certainly

(31:14):
had his share of troubles off the court this season.
He's already dodged a potentially career killing debacle in the
middle of the season, having been accused of sexual harassment
and stalking of an unconfirmed number of women, specifically Florida
students attention teachers and students. Just two months ago, the

(31:36):
University of Florida announced that they concluded their investigation on
of gold On and found no evidence of wrongdoing. Regarding
the accusations, Matt.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
He's a hell of a coach.

Speaker 3 (31:45):
He didn't do a thing. I mean, he's just a
hell of a coach. Chomp, chump. So those first three
coaches have dealt with all kinds off the court issues,
and they know a lot of fight songs. Conversely, Duke's
John Shi Er, Matt like you squeaky clean Jewish guy.
That's right, and he only knows the Dukies fight song.

(32:05):
In his third season after replacing coach k Shire has
Duke back in the final four. They have the youngest
team in the country this season. Besides Cooper flag Shire
starts two other freshmen. Despite what Clark Kellof tries to say,
so good luck to all three coaches and made the
best team win and the non Jewish coach now. The

(32:29):
Early Exit Award goes to USC injured Starred Juju Watkins.
Last Monday, a couple hours after the twenty twenty five
Tournament awards debuted on the Petrosen Money Show. Juju went
down five minutes into the Trojans game versus Mississippi State
two on two breakouts. She was driving full speed, two
defenders on each side of her across the free throw

(32:52):
line and blew her knee. Now than dirty, no cheap shot,
no foul. Mississippi State is not a dirty team, although
they are from Stark, Vegas, a dirty placed. Juju's need
just gave way and devastating for the women of Troy.
No date has been announced with a surgery, and we
won't know about the recovery timetable Without Juju. They beat

(33:16):
Mississippi State and k State and we wish her a
speedy recovery and good luck to the Trojans tonight. And
the eight Clap Award Matt goes to the UCLA women
for knocking off LSU yesterday and advancing to the final four.
The Bruins had spent most weeks at number one of
the AP rankings, and this is their first final four

(33:40):
trip in the NC double A women's tourney era, which
began in nineteen eighty two. How about that. I wouldn't
have thought that.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
Yeah, yeah, I didn't see that coming. I would assume
they've been there before.

Speaker 3 (33:56):
And one a bunch right, Yeah. Gabby Hawkas led the
bru with eighteen points in eight rebounds. She hit a
deep rainbow three pointed with ninety seconds left that seal
to victory, and she screamed, my brother's not dating. Spolster's out.
The rematch award goes to Juju's SC teammates, who face
Yukon tonight for the third time in three hundred and

(34:19):
sixty five days. This is a big game, Matt, if
you like the women's hoops. Last April, Yukon beat the
Trojans and the Elite eight in Portland, and then earlier
this season s he got some revenge beating the Huskies
in Connecticut tonight. The spot on the final four is
on the line page. Buckers pronounced I mean written Beckers

(34:42):
like the surfboard, but pronounced Bukers is having a great
March Madness. Thirty four and forty points in Yukon's last
two tournament games. It seems like a nice girl. This
game is going to be difficult for se even if
Juju was playing without her. Gino Oriama is going to blow.
Lindsey got leave out of the water game tips at

(35:03):
six from Spokane where he could be staying at a hotel.
It's quite dangerous.

Speaker 2 (35:10):
Yeah, dude, dut shot right up in front.

Speaker 3 (35:12):
Of It's on the Evil four letter. And then the
usc ucon winner will play Ucla on Friday and Tampa
in the final four and Matt The Torpedo Bat award
goes to Caitlin Clark, who was like a human torpedo
bat in the twenty twenty three and twenty twenty four tournaments.

(35:33):
Although Bukers of Yukon Lauren Betts of Ucla, they've been
great so far in March, the pure electricity and attention
Caitlin Clark brought to the sport through television, radio and
social media is irreplaceable. If she will be on David
Letterman's Netflix series Caitlyn Clark up upon April eighth. The

(35:55):
series is entitled My Next Guest Needs No Introduction Actually
throwback to the late night TV days, which I believe
we were both fans, A huge fan. So her upcoming
WNBA season begins May seventeenth, unless Angel Reeves ruins the
season before it even starts, and Matt the Realization award

(36:18):
goes to me. I have come to the realization that
the CBS or Turner Studio show just needs one guy
like Ernie or that Zucker guy, and then Jay Wright
and Charles Barkley. That's it. If they want to have
a fourth guy bringing our guy Clark Kellogg or Zerbiak,

(36:38):
but I just, I mean Kenny Smith and Seth Davis.
I can't take it anymore.

Speaker 2 (36:42):
So a lot of heads at a desk.

Speaker 3 (36:43):
I can't take it. I can't take their heads. I'd
like to take a torpedo back to that desk. Tired
of hearing it. AM tired.

Speaker 2 (36:54):
Yeah, Barkley's been fun with Auburn making a run.

Speaker 3 (36:58):
He just that's it. That's all we need.

Speaker 2 (37:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (37:02):
But anyway, those are your tournament awards. We'll have one
more in eight days, yeah, because that'll be the end
and Georgia, Bama will likely be celebrating the Jewish community
will likely be celebrating cater bite unless that native American
Kelvin Samson comes in like a ringer on Don McClain
day and wins the Papa Shot Tournament.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
Hell of a coach, man, hell of a coach.

Speaker 3 (37:26):
Like Eli Manning beat Caitlin Clark.

Speaker 2 (37:29):
Right, that was a hell of a pause.

Speaker 3 (37:33):
Got to get it right. Well that's crunchy grooving.

Speaker 2 (37:36):
That's right.

Speaker 3 (37:38):
So we'll be right back. We'll do. How is your weekend?
Stick with us the Petrosen Money Show on a five
seventy LA Sports.

Speaker 2 (37:54):
Yes, indeed, you hear the music. It is a Modelamentia
lot on Monday. We love the Modelo Michi a lot
has just had one on Thursday opening day, our dear
friend Brad Nelson delivered it's not a real meet a
lot if it's not made with Modelo, it's a fake
meets you a lot of because Modelo is a reward
for those with a fighting spirit. Modello the mark of
a fighter. We knew they were going to number one.

Speaker 3 (38:15):
I've seen a lot of people drinking fake meats a
lot us out there, and I don't like it.

Speaker 2 (38:19):
So many fake meets you a lot as you fake folk.

Speaker 3 (38:21):
Fakers, fake news fakers. All Right, it's time for how
is your weekend. I'm gonna do what I do. The
weekend is mine. So how was your weekend? Matt?

Speaker 2 (38:35):
Uh, not too exciting. Surfd a lot on Saturday, and
then was doing some draft prep for the Chargers stuff
that's coming up, podcasts and appearances and that kind of thing.

Speaker 3 (38:47):
Am I appearing anywhere? Matt?

Speaker 2 (38:49):
I don't think so.

Speaker 3 (38:50):
And I asked him where is he appearing? And he
said right here on the street.

Speaker 2 (38:56):
I don't think.

Speaker 3 (38:57):
Sometimes I make appearances on Draft day, Matt, Yes, with you,
sometimes I appear.

Speaker 2 (39:02):
Sometimes you even make an appearance when I'm not there.

Speaker 3 (39:05):
Sometimes I like to say I was here, but I disappear.

Speaker 2 (39:10):
Sometimes you're thrown. Yeah, I've been to a janitorial closet
because you're not supposed to be there, even though you
were scheduled to be in a spot.

Speaker 3 (39:17):
I've been around for the draft.

Speaker 2 (39:19):
Went to Rip the Rip Brewery and Huntington Beach there
on the corner of Corner and P for the Florida
Texas Tech game, and then the Good Doctor and his
wife came over to watch the Duke Alabama game and
just kind of got some takeout, drank a few beers,
ate a few burritos, that sort of thing. Sunday surf
with a good doctor and Joe Kwan for a couple hours,
hit up the Green Cheek Brewery, So Rip Brewery HB.

(39:41):
Green Cheek Brewery Sunday for their smash burger and a
beer and watch the Houston Tennessee game there as well.
And then yeah, not really much else after that. So, yeah, what's.

Speaker 4 (39:56):
Your Chargers pride stand on?

Speaker 2 (40:00):
It's coming all right.

Speaker 4 (40:04):
Kate's had a up and down weekend.

Speaker 3 (40:06):
What do you mean up and down? Strikes and gunners.

Speaker 4 (40:08):
Yeah, lots of hills in the valleys, rolled Katie over here.
One of the valleys was losing my Golden Mic entry.
Oh no, did not win the Golden Mic lost to
a Santa Barbara station who did a sports piece on
the Cowboys having training camp in Oxnard.

Speaker 3 (40:25):
Again, at least you didn't go. I didn't go.

Speaker 4 (40:28):
I mean if I would have paid four hundred dollars
to go and lose, you guys would have seen me
on the news right next to Paul Rodriguez for getting
arrested in Burbank.

Speaker 3 (40:34):
Yeah, you're already pissed.

Speaker 2 (40:35):
Yeah, you should have just run it go fund me
and stayed two nights at the hotel.

Speaker 3 (40:38):
Yeah, what did Rodriguez do? Was you drunk?

Speaker 4 (40:40):
I'm not sure he got pulled over. Something happened. By
the way, the folks that did do a GoFundMe just
racked in, just racked in the.

Speaker 2 (40:48):
Golden seven seven Golden mics. Check us out.

Speaker 3 (40:51):
Yeah, I hope they had the greatest night of their lives.

Speaker 4 (40:53):
I'm sure they did.

Speaker 2 (40:54):
The pictures looks fast and they looked like it.

Speaker 3 (40:56):
Funded by AM radio listeners.

Speaker 4 (40:57):
One of the highs of the weekend, My only high
of the weekend, because this weekend sucked, was the fact
that the new documentary series on Apple TV came out,
Fight for Glory about the Dodgers and Yankees world series series.

Speaker 3 (41:11):
Oh, the one where they called me and I hooked
you up with them and then they didn't end up
followings around.

Speaker 4 (41:15):
Well, they followed an ESPN reporter and they talked to
Jack Harris of the La Times. Fass A was in
there for about three seconds. So that was It's a
three part series, Episode one, two, and three kind of
document the seven or five game series. Uh, episode three
starts off this way, guys, Apple TV, of course, But
here's how the app here's how it starts.

Speaker 2 (41:36):
Out rage Madam.

Speaker 4 (41:37):
Here we go. The Dodgers are one win away from
their eighth World Series.

Speaker 3 (41:48):
Champions Wow, I know that.

Speaker 2 (41:51):
Boys.

Speaker 4 (41:52):
Maybe he comes back here the World Series three games
to nothing.

Speaker 3 (41:55):
No one has ever come back from three to zero
in the World Series.

Speaker 4 (41:57):
Yeah, they these old fee.

Speaker 3 (42:03):
Are We're in a tough position. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (42:09):
Started off episode three of the Apple series Fight for Glory,
about the nice twenty four World Series. So some people
are putting the documentary and saying it's not very good.
I think it's fantastic. All three episodes. There's a lot
of behind the scenes stuff with the Freeman family, So
if you're a Dodger fan, you are gonna love this.
The behind the scene coverage, Freeman getting treatment, talking to

(42:31):
his wife as well done.

Speaker 3 (42:33):
What kind of royalties you get for that?

Speaker 4 (42:36):
Royalties?

Speaker 3 (42:37):
Yeah, use your voice.

Speaker 4 (42:38):
I don't even get recognized at the end of the
series in the credits, even though my voice Steve Saxon's voice.
They've obviously took the the coverage of scam that we
did sax and K to the Am, and they used
a lot of it. It's sprinkled in throughout all three
episodes and yet I can't even get a mention like

(42:59):
a seventy Tim Kates like nothing, No, imagine, not even
my name on the screen, nothing in the credits. Just
if you know my voice and you watch the series,
it is sprinkled in in all three episodes. And I
start episode three so very cool, Greg excited. That was
the one high, the one victory for Tim Kates this weekend.

Speaker 3 (43:18):
That's it.

Speaker 2 (43:19):
That's it. I like to think they maybe give you
an Apple sticker to put in the back window for that.

Speaker 3 (43:24):
I would take that absolutely. Those people took advantage of us,
But I'm glad they used your voice. Tim.

Speaker 4 (43:29):
Thank you Ronnie. We're in your Dodger hat tonight or
today's right?

Speaker 6 (43:32):
How was your wee congratulations Tim on that fancy Apple
TV voice over there.

Speaker 4 (43:37):
Do you want to hear it again?

Speaker 3 (43:38):
Sure?

Speaker 2 (43:38):
Why not? No?

Speaker 4 (43:39):
Go get your weekend?

Speaker 2 (43:40):
Are you sure? Weekend? Sure? Weekend ahead?

Speaker 6 (43:43):
I really didn't do anything this weekend. I stayed home
all week and long. I wasn't feeling so well. Oh no,
Saturday morning, I woke up in the wee hours with
a just a sore throat.

Speaker 3 (43:52):
My throat was on fire.

Speaker 4 (43:53):
Now we're all getting sick.

Speaker 6 (43:54):
Gat and I just couldn't go back to sleep, so
I just lounged around the house all day, all morning long,
trying to find something to do, trying to find something
to watch. I end up watching a little bit of baseball,
but I was in and out all day, falling asleep
and waking up, uh to different sporting events on the television.

Speaker 3 (44:12):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (44:12):
Sunday slept in quite a bit and did a few
domestic chores after I was feeling a bit better after
taking a ton of emergency and drinking water all day
long and all night long. I did, uh do a
little bit of laundry. I did kind of make myself
some chicken soup. Okay, watch NCAA tournament and NBA basketball,
and just rested up for the rest of the week.

(44:34):
And uh, well what was left of the weekend for
the work week, and uh that was pretty much it.
Still recuperating, although I feel better.

Speaker 4 (44:42):
If you're looking for something to watch me, I said
that Fight for Glory, would you stop?

Speaker 3 (44:45):
You know what?

Speaker 6 (44:45):
I should have watched that yesterday? Tim suggested, well, you
just did massigestic Okay.

Speaker 3 (44:50):
Great show. Let's hear it.

Speaker 4 (44:53):
The Dodgers are one win away from their eighth World
Series Championship.

Speaker 3 (44:59):
Wow, Petro's how is your weekend?

Speaker 2 (45:01):
Jeez?

Speaker 3 (45:02):
Uh? Well, my mother in law was in town, which
is nice to have her visiting. On Saturday, there was
yoga and there was soccer the Dragon Flames, my daughter's
soccer team.

Speaker 2 (45:15):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (45:16):
Then there where there was victory. We won beautiful, and
then my son announced a baseball game on the PA
at the Little League.

Speaker 2 (45:25):
Yeah, people are happy. I'm serious.

Speaker 3 (45:28):
I want that job. Like I'm not doing anything Saturday.
I could park it there and call like five games.
That's two that's two hundred bucks, like, I'll do it.
Oh and free talk. Well, I'd go with the Burger.

Speaker 2 (45:40):
I like the burger there, gotcha they get it from
Bristol farn Fancy. Yeah, exactly, back up on the hill.
And then Saturday night exactly right, Matt. On Saturday night,
speaking of the hill, Uh, I went to the Palace
Burnies Beach Club, of which I am a member, and
I was gonna door dash food for my mother in
law and my daughter. Fletcher didn't end up showing up

(46:04):
because he's a deadbeat. But insteady, you're a dead beat.
Instead the Gamble family, Grady Gamble saw me and was
cooking steaks and said, why don't you come and eat
those steaks. We have way too much steak. So I
came over and staked it up with the gambles and
it was a nice marbling on that steak. So that
was nice too. And then yesterday I went to yoga

(46:26):
and then to Cherry Park in Long Beach to watch
my son play baseball. His baseball team, the Rolling Hills Renegades,
and we played a team I think they were at
a Losal called the Aces and we got aced out.
And then we played the team called the Samurais. They
could have been from Japan, but they were Latino, but

(46:49):
they had Asian riding on their hats and they lost
to us. Yeah. I think that's the south of Japan,
one of the islands down there.

Speaker 3 (47:00):
Okay, now Samurai sa I got it? Okay, Yeah, yeah,
it's down there military base. That must explain the Latinos
is a military base.

Speaker 2 (47:06):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (47:06):
And that was my weekend, very exciting, watch a lot
of kojack. Yeah, we'll be back. Ronnie was sick. I
did not know that.

Speaker 4 (47:18):
I wish I would know that about an hour ago.

Speaker 3 (47:19):
Yeah, that would have been helpful to know about an
hour and we're all going to get sorry about that.

Speaker 4 (47:24):
Remember when you came in here the break and did
a bro hug with Ronnie? Yeah, yeah, I remember that too.

Speaker 6 (47:29):
That's why I didn't get up.

Speaker 3 (47:31):
What does that have to do? Okay, we'll be back close.

Speaker 2 (47:36):
All right, all right, she did that. It was worse
than oj.

Speaker 3 (47:38):
What you did to me was worse than OJA word numbers.
Saw I'm coming up.
