and welcome. It's a crunchy groove on Thursday on The
petros In Money Show, the one and only Petrosen Money

(01:04):
Los Angeles. Dodgers Championship Baseball. That's true. Everybody loves you.
Doyer and the Dodgers are right here except for today.
No Dodgers today, but we will have off night Doyer
talk with David and they'll have Buster Only, not a Doyer,

(01:26):
I'm not a dollar. Buster Only will be on and
I believe the top it's Andre Ethier's birthday. Did you
guys know that the French Mexican Prince of the Desert,
Happy birthday, Ehier. And because of that, I believe David
Vassa is going to do a top five Ethier insults
of all time against Vassay. So we'll see how that

(01:49):
works out. But we do have a four hour full
show today, no Flex and tomorrow will have a three
hour show of great sports talk, great sports talk. We
look forward to all of that. And before we go
any further, let's introduce our celebrity guest host on the
Petrosen Money Show, Southern California Toyota Dealers. Celebrity guest host

(02:12):
Microphone looking like he's gonna build a bomb from somebody's
broken down lawnmower, and Kate's is right. He doesn't look
like the Tom Cruise character in Mission Impossibly. He looks like,
you know, one of the guys that's helping Cruise early
in the movie that dies and he's pissed about it.

(02:33):
You know, he doesn't just discard your carcass he avenges
your dad.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Jonas is the guy sitting in the room that helps
Tom Cruise get from one side of the city to
the other by opening up all the green lights.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Oh yeah, through Paris, you know, like Emilio Stevin two blocks. Yeah,
when Emilio Estavisk gets crushed in that elevator in the
first one.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
That's like Jonas's character horrible death awaits. I'd like to
see Jonas make it to the second movie.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
I mean, here today one of our favorite hosts of
all time Fox Sports Radio Two Pros and a cup
of Joe, The Jonas knocks Shoe. Jonas knocks on the
Petros and Money Show tonight All Night. Matt will be
back tomorrow. Where is Matt some have said, some have

(03:19):
alleged Augusta no way Seriously, Well, I don't believe he's there,
but there was an allegation. I don't know you might
have heard it. I mean, he is a golf fan,
well not as much as he used to be. Golf.
Matt only pops up if there's a golf event, like
for work or something like that, and then he dust
off the Matt persona for golf. But he's full moondoggie. Now, hey,

(03:44):
before you leave, Kevin Figures. Now, I know, I know
and all that I know, but real quick, and if
you say something that bugs me, I'll let you go,
but but tell me what that is so I can go. No, No,
I don't act all hard, Kevin. You don't have to
be that way. Kevin Figures is the host of the
Rogan and Rodney Show. And they had their first excuse me, well,

(04:06):
you know, I mean you do both uh and and
uh Kevin Figures. Hell, yeah, Pat O'Brien's old stopping grounds, Yeah,
seventy eight themver months seventy people are hopeless there. They
have nothing, you know, they can't even buy hope. They're

(04:29):
so miserable. Kevin.

Speaker 4 (04:31):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Yes, I heard a little rumor that today in your
first full show that Dan Wiki was attacked by your
host over Luka Doncic's emotional night last night in Dallas.
I got multiple texts that there was a kerfuffle between
Dan Wiki, who's been effectively banned from the Petrosen Money
Show for over a half decade. Attacked kerfuffle. These are
very very aggressive words. All right, Well, you know, I

(04:54):
say they had a spirited discussion. Okay, you're dismissed, and
I'm gonna ask Ronnie about I'm five. I'll remember that.
I'll remember that, dismount Kevin. I'll remember that dismount. You're
gonna regret that, Kevin. What is the hand that feeds

(05:17):
you taste like Kevin? Five bitches? All Right, we're moving on.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
I would call it a fight.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
I get out of the one thing we don't need
to do in sports talk radio. Great sports talk is
downplay things. All right, we're screaming and yelling on AM radio.
We're not gonna downplay anything.

Speaker 5 (05:46):
By the way, I don't mean Nina rut, but that
drop you just played great sports talk is that, Tim Kates?

Speaker 2 (05:51):
No, Uh, this comes from a long time ago, A
long time Glad you asked the etymology of great sports talk,
because great sports talks kind of a funny thing. When
I was working at the old Korean station, and uh,
we had a program director like a middle American guy,
like not not quite like we we they got like

(06:12):
the chorus together to do the fifteen forty you know,
like you know what I mean, like some real antiquated
like KWARP And what.

Speaker 5 (06:21):
A beautiful studio that was oh, unbelieve, right by the airport.
I remember Biggs told me, hey, this is where we
do updates.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
But we had a guy. What We had a guy
who was like a voiceover guy. He was real cheesy,
and he's like, here's what we have to offer here
at fifteen forty number one, great sports Talk. So we
just clipped that off and we called the Petros Papaeca
show great Sports Talk because it was so weird. It wasn't,
you know, a very conventional show, and we each sports talk.

(06:52):
So then when I got here, I didn't have the
drop anymore, just like I didn't have Doyer anymore. So
we had to call, like you have to he ate
this stuff. And I didn't want to do like my
whole old show here, and it really wouldn't have worked either.
But some of the stuff we needed, you know what
I mean, Like my wife is easy because that's from
the Big Lebowski. Uh tonight is easy because that's from Superfly.

(07:15):
But getting many Mota to say Doyer on your show,
you got to book Manny Mota. So we booked many
Mota and we got a clean that was real early,
you know, And then we had a guy here and
and we had a guy here named Robert. Was his

(07:36):
name Robert Show, Rob Show, Rob Show, really nice guy.
I think he's in Maryland now, Yeah, odd guy. You
know a lot of Cardigans.

Speaker 6 (07:45):
And he he was like indie rock show.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Didn't get pretty drunk. We went to an indie rock
show and I don't know. Rob was pretty excited. Yeah,
wax A Hatchie a great singer, and Rob was pretty excited.
And it's kind of a quiet show with a bunch
of weird hipsters and Eagle Rock and Kevin Figures and
me and Ronnie we all rolled up my wife and
he's like Kevin Figgers, you son of a bitch.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
I was like Jesus, Great.

Speaker 6 (08:15):
Sports still had a tall boy before that.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
Yeah, he had a real conventional voiceover voice, you know.
So we made him do every damn night. We made
him do Great Sports Talk. So that is great. It
comes from fifteen forty. It was just like a cheesy
line in it. I thought there was a cheesy line
and a cheesy liner, and we made Rob Show. If

(08:41):
if it was now and we needed it, Kate's would
do it. Because Rob Show doesn't work here anymore. You
know what else you need? You got to get Jim
Herrick on to say it's hard.

Speaker 6 (08:51):
It's just hard.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Oh yeah, and then every coach it says it's hard afterwards.

Speaker 7 (08:56):
Because it's hard and it's hard.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
It's just hard.

Speaker 6 (09:00):
Gosh, it's hard. Yeah, it's hard.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
It's hard. It's hard.

Speaker 4 (09:11):
It's hard. I mean it's hard.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Yeah, I didn't feel so stupid anyway, What a great
day to be together. Jonas. It's great to see you, Ronnie.
Oh you interrupted me. Yeah, I didn't mean to. I
just kiddes. I'm here. Hold on, we can play your intro.
Gain you want the happy Ronnie or the sad Ronnie?

Speaker 6 (09:35):
Give me the sad one.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
I feel like sad because Jonas really cuts you off there.
Jesus weekends. Hey, Ronnie, did did Dan, Woiki and Rodney

(09:58):
get in a five?

Speaker 4 (09:59):
Yes?

Speaker 6 (10:00):
Yeah, yeah, yeah they did it. It got pretty contentious
there for a little bit.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
Why was Bigger's turning downplay it like a punk?

Speaker 6 (10:07):
Well, there's a few things going on behind the scenes
that he has to deal with after the show. So
oh wow, he beat a hasty exit.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
Oh it is because of the fight.

Speaker 6 (10:15):
H No, something different, but you know, nevertheless, he had
a run.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
Was it show related? Perhaps bridge too far, Roddie, you
went my beak with information. Here's what I think happened. Well,
here's my here's my here's my theory. Just move on,
here's my theory. Rodney and Waki attack each other over

(10:43):
Luca because Rodney doesn't want Luca to get too much credit.
That's it's natural. He's a lebron guy. Yeah, that happened,
and you know you want your guy to get credit. Yeah,
and we all understand I was a Lyndale white guy.
Reggie Bush got all the credit. So Rodney goes after
wiki Wiki gives a lot of time to the Rogan

(11:04):
and Rodney show. He's an unpaid guest. I bet you.
He called.

Speaker 6 (11:09):
I was like, what the f what you're trying to
do to me? You know, actually, I think figures right now.
I think took it with a grain of salt because
he did.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
You're you're pooh pooing my theory.

Speaker 6 (11:21):
Not necessarily poop pooing the theory. That could have something
to do with it, But I'm not too clear about that.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
Well, you seem to know what's happening.

Speaker 6 (11:29):
Well, I mean I know a little bit, but uh,
you know, sometimes people walk out of the control room
with the telephone in their ear and step in after
the conversation has happened.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
You're not able to ease drop, you know.

Speaker 6 (11:39):
I'm not able to eavesdrop the time, although I wish
I could.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
Damn Kates, do you have an impression on what's going on?

Speaker 3 (11:45):
I love the tap dancing that Ronnie's doing over here.
Trying to avoid the question, but let's just move on.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Guys, well, I don't want to move on. You know,
you've wet the beak uh the listeners.

Speaker 6 (11:56):
You wet the beak of dun chee.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
I mean, you wet the beak of duncici here, and
I want to know what happened.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
I was not around. I was in the prep zone,
getting ready for this big show of four hours.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
I mean, it couldn't have been that bad, because Figures
still had enough juice in his air and his chest
to be like, see your business on the way out.
I mean, it couldn't be that catastrophic.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
I did see Kevin get out of here pretty quickly,
though I got a.

Speaker 5 (12:16):
Good hug from him, though he seems to be in
good spirits.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
Well, I want to know what happened. I want to
be part of this conversation. Ronnie gave me a good
hug too. Hid the scenes, it feels like everybody's in
a good place from a scale of one to ten,
because I don't I don't hear things. Yes, yes, okay,
I'm just here.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
That's not sure you get reaction from the textosaurs.

Speaker 6 (12:39):
Well yeah, I'm eager to give you a number Petros.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
I don't hear things. I just get the textoso, and
the Textoso is you know, inflammatory in many ways. Look
at this nine oh nine. Rodney is officially a Luca hater. Lol.
This comes from a guy named Jacob oh No Wikester
beefing with Rodney. He's gonna come crawling back to you

(13:03):
and money like a clingy ex girlfriend. See that. You
know this one's calling Rodney names this one sixty six
Dan Waiki dealing with hot head and flusters Rodney's classic.
Uh what is wrong with Rodney today? He's earning that
clutch sports paycheck. I can't wait for great sports talk.
It's great sports talk. Okay. So you see, like I'm

(13:26):
just sitting here in the prep zone getting ready for
our SHOWP Zone prep zone, and uh, you know, I
don't know, are there a bunch of people in HR
right now, what happened? I want to know what happened.
I mean my phone exploded.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
It's great Sports Talk before Great Sports sports and Luca
and Lebron.

Speaker 2 (13:41):
Like, it doesn't sound like the Lakers won?

Speaker 3 (13:43):
Yes, shady in Dallas. Can't everybody just be happy?

Speaker 2 (13:44):
You know? He one is a team you want when
you do a segment, you want to get out of
that segment clean without hurt feelings onto the next yep,
And it feels like you guys didn't get out of
that clean.

Speaker 5 (13:56):
These are, by the way, these are first world problems
because at three am, we're just worried about what your
drug addict's gonna steal our catalytic co murder.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
That's all we got.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
We don't live in this fall.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
We don't see anything or anybody wants to be there.
You're not worried about if anybody's buttered. After the show,
you're just trying to get back in bed.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
There's still a hoboes walking up and down some polevia God.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
Yes, it's it's like nighttime when the sun goes down.
It's like all the stray animals come out. Yeah, it's
a sleeping bag alley. The old other way. Ye, we're
all we're not worried about whether.

Speaker 3 (14:35):
Or not Albert Breer gets into it with Brady Quin
at that time.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
Okay, so so let's see what are you Sayingbert? So
let's say, uh, ten is like sports talk radio, nuclear war,
like Felgar and mass Are you serious? Are you singing
of that kind of thing? And one is like you know, jocularity? Ha?

(14:58):
Uh what scala? One to ten? Ronnie? What was the
fight between Woiki and Rodney?

Speaker 6 (15:05):
I'd probably have to give it a six and a half,
maybe a seven.

Speaker 5 (15:08):
Whoa, that's like the north Ridge quake when they're like
O to six seven and my Dad's like, my ass,
that was an eight.

Speaker 8 (15:18):
Well, Woiki's voice doesn't usually go up too high and octave,
but I think it did a couple of times in
that segment.

Speaker 3 (15:27):
Wow, I'm so intrigued right now.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
Well, what's the other thing that's going on?

Speaker 6 (15:35):
Other thing?

Speaker 2 (15:36):
You know what you guys, forget it?

Speaker 3 (15:38):
What other thing is going on? I don't know what
you're talking about? What are they going about?

Speaker 2 (15:41):
He was good, he left to deal with something.

Speaker 8 (15:44):
Oh well, I mean I wasn't part of that conversation, right, Okay, Kevin's.

Speaker 3 (15:48):
Got to drive back to the South Bay. Man, He's
got a long drive ahead of he wants to get
out of here.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
All right, okay, all right, i'd look, do you think
I'm getting the full story? Do you think I'm doing
my due diligence as a journalist? The journalists that I
am the bottom of this j I also think that
when when Gates made the best point when he said, oh,
Bridge too far, like like Ronnie walked a couple of
steps too far.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
And then now in the killing where it was going Jonas,
because those ears are like rabbit over here, Petros, just
the ears preak up.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
You know, like what what what? What?

Speaker 5 (16:20):
Yeah, it's a well I mean, listen, I this is
all news to me. I had no idea there was
a beef with Wiki on the show. By the way,
either it.

Speaker 2 (16:28):
Could have been that Rodney was off to Toys r
Us early to get in line for the Labarbie doll,
you know, like the Cabbage Patch kids and all that.
That's a big that's a big item for the for
the Lebron people. I even put a picture of the
Lebron doll next to a headshot of you next to
a headshot of me on X to promote you being

(16:48):
in today for Matt Smith, and we're happy to have
Jonas here. There's no doubt about it. We've got a
great show lined up for the people, great sports tolls. Indeed,
we're gonna have James Worre you on this hour. I'm
pretty sure Worthy likes Luca. In fact, he says he
pinches himself every day thinking about why Nico Harrison traded

(17:10):
Luka Doncic to the Lakers. Perhaps the worst if you're
looking at from the Dallas perspective, trade in the history
of modern sports, or at least one that I've been around.
I can't imagine anything worse or going anything anywhere worse
in the in the immediate aftermath, can you.

Speaker 5 (17:29):
Deshaun Watson? Yeah, okay, Yeah, you're right, Like, if he's
not injured, you know he's going to the Is that
a trade or did they just sign him for a
bunch of money?

Speaker 7 (17:40):
No?

Speaker 5 (17:40):
I traded him go three first round picks. Uh, you
know for a guy who you know admitted the grab
lab like two hundred times and then he got popped
eleven games and then he's been injured and played poorly,
and yeah, that hasn't gone.

Speaker 3 (17:51):
Well, wait, wait a second, At what point can we
throw the Clippers trade in for Paul George as one
of the worst trades ever Shay Gildess, Alexander and five
first round picks and swapping other picks in exchange for
Paul George.

Speaker 2 (18:05):
Yeah, on further review, that didn't work.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
I mean you gave an MVP.

Speaker 2 (18:08):
Yeah, but they weren't raining down booze like a week later.
People weren't like getting kicked out because they're calling for
the head of your GM on a platter like John
the Baptist. I mean, what's playing out in Dallas is
a real othello of sorts, But I could be wrong.
I mean, no one has in there booing everybody at
the Clipper games because of Shake, Gilgess, Alexander and the

(18:31):
Deshaun Watson situation. He has doubled down today, yeah, and
said that he's using it as motivation fuel for fire. Yeah,
he's gonna be all riled up and doing a great
job this year for the Cleveland Browns. So who knows
the horse is still in the barn on that. So
we're not gonna get any information anymore, Kate, You're not

(18:51):
gonna tell me what happened.

Speaker 3 (18:53):
There is nothing to tell Petros.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
That's see. It does not feel like that. See when
somebody tells me that I.

Speaker 3 (18:57):
Wish I had more to tell you, I missed there
was I wish there were something.

Speaker 8 (19:00):
And if I knew more to tell, i'd tell you
as well. What I want is a text from guy
running here. You seem like, well this is you know,
he's got Krohnes disease, and he was blowing it out
like you know, something like sensitive.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
You know what I mean? You know, I'm just that's
a hypothetical, the crones. But you know what I'm saying,
like something to wear, something that was sensitive. Yeah, if
it's so sensitive. And Kevin Figure has really got something
going on, why is he screaming by bitches into the
radio like he's a twelve year old leaving a podcast,
Bye bitches? Did he really say that? Yes he did,

(19:32):
bye bitches. I had to do a double take. I
was like, really, that's exactly that's the example you want
to set for your young son. What's going around?

Speaker 6 (19:45):
What the hell's going on?

Speaker 4 (19:46):
Listen?

Speaker 2 (19:47):
I asked you, Ronnie, and you weren't able to say, so,
don't sit here and come back and ask a question
in an arbitrary way because you're the one with the information,
but you don't want to share it. So joining us
in the very next segment is going to be the
great James Worthy. We're looking forward to that, our edel.
We got a lot going on. There's gonna be a
union update, something going on in the Orange County area

(20:07):
that you might want to be a part of. Good
deal headed your way, part of be part of the
peripheral satellite Great Sports Talk community, Great Sports Talk Dodger
Talk Tonight with David Vassay, he's got Buster only and
the Ethier Tribute, and Jonas Knox is here on the

(20:28):
Petrosen Money Show. We're happy to have him on a
five seventy LA Sports and yes he has a depeche
Mode shirt on. Welcome back everybody. It's the petro Send
Money Show on AMPHI seventy LA Sports on this Crunching

(20:50):
Group in Thursday, live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app your
home of the World Series Champion Dodgers Dodger Talk Tonight
with David vass that's seven a clock. But right now
it is time for our weekly interview with the one
and only James Worthy. On Spectrum Sports and at LA
one of the greatest Lakers of all time, and the

(21:12):
Lakers on the front of everybody's mind right now.

Speaker 3 (21:15):
Brought to you by your Southern California four dealers. Check
them out. All the great specials they helped out all
the people with the fires in Alta Dina and of
course in the Palisades if you were affected by the fires,
check them out. Great deals for everybody that you're Southern California.

Speaker 2 (21:30):
For dealers, it is the great James Worthy. The Lakers
so hot right now, well pretty hot after that win
in Dallas. A lot of tears, a lot of emotion.
James Worthy here to speak on it as the Western Conference.
It's just an absolute and trophy camp. James, How are you?

(21:53):
What's crack and what do they got you doing?

Speaker 4 (21:56):
Well? Man over here at the airport shooting some content
for sixth rent a Car. Man, we're getting some good
content in, you know, intervening with the engaging with some
customers and got my orange tie on and I'm an
employee of the month.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
Oh that's the sexy rent a car place. That is that?
That place? You know, it's kind of like the newer,
cooler one you know, that's good man. It's weird to
go to the airport and not fly anywhere, you know,
but that's the great James Worthy join and Jonas and I.
And it was a wild night last night. James, you know,
you've been part of a lot of emotional things over

(22:36):
the years, milestone games for this guy or that, or
even yourself. Were you surprised that Luca was able to
pull together and perform the way he did.

Speaker 4 (22:44):
I was surprised after that, you know, the greeting that
he got and all the t shirts in his language,
and of course, you know, I noticed he had a
fresh haircut last night, so he probably went back and
you know, saw his old friends. You know, it's really
emotional when you developed relationships, you know for seven years,

(23:09):
you know, everybody that worked in the arena, some of
his favorite establishments. Those are hard games to pull off,
especially after that emotional intro they had for him. But somehow,
some way, he got through it and really performed and
gave the fans what they wanted to see.

Speaker 5 (23:29):
James, you played your whole career out here, so you
didn't have an experience like Luca as far as going
to play your ex so to speak while in the NBA.
But what was the closest for you, like the most
emotional you were going into a game that you can recall.

Speaker 4 (23:43):
Well, I remember when you know, the summer of eighty
five eighty six, you know, my name came up for trade.
You know, they were going to trade me to Dallas
or Mark or Guire and Roy Tarpley and somebody else.
And you know, just the fact that someone tried to
trade you or they thought about trading you and it

(24:04):
didn't happen. And now you've got to go back and
face the music and say, Okay, you didn't want me.
So that's it for me. I've never had the experience
like you know, coming back to an arena. You know,
Kareem's retirement ceremonies were crazy. Every arena. We spent forty

(24:24):
five minutes before the game. But I've never had any
true hardships, with the exception when pat Rally left and
went to New York. I wanted to be damn sure
that we could win our game against you know, pat
Rally when he was in New York left me hanging
out here in LA. I'm just teasing, but I wanted

(24:45):
to win that game.

Speaker 2 (24:47):
The great James Worthy is our guest. It's always great
to talk to him.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
You know.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
The one thing I think about all the time, James
when it comes to Luka Doncic, is not just how
angry everybody in Dallas is and what a weird situation
it seemed to have been left behind there in Texas,
but the fact that this it's like nine figures that
they cost this guy to get traded, like a hundred
million dollars. I mean, these guys make a lot of money,

(25:12):
but I mean one hundred million dollars. How much do
you think that gnaws at him? And that's got to
drive these guys crazy.

Speaker 4 (25:20):
Well, he was, he was expecting the max contract, and
apparently some of the new ownership, not Mark Cuban, I
think he had sold most of his interest, was not
willing to do that. And I also think they wanted
to build a new arena and add a casino and
do all this other stuff and they were denied. So

(25:43):
they said, hey, you don't want to play ball with us,
We're just gonna you know, trade away your your your player,
and in doing so, we're not going to have to
pay him the max contract. So I'm sure, you know,
for a player who had just taken his team to
the NBA Final and the Western Conference finals before that,

(26:03):
felt like if they owed him that at least, and
I'm sure he was not happy with that. If he's
going to receive that type of context, he had earned
it in Dallas. So I haven't talked to him about that.
I don't know what his exact feelings are, but I
just could imagine that that didn't go down the type
really really smoothly.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
I still don't get it.

Speaker 5 (26:24):
Like I've tried to think, well, okay, is it you
know the people have thrown out the theory that well
they want to move the team, or you know, they
were worried about his work ethic. They were he's one
of the top what three talents in the NBA. He's
in his prime, He's shown he can play. You just
went to the finals and you dump him for what

(26:45):
everyone has pointed out you could have gotten significantly more for.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
I just don't get it.

Speaker 5 (26:50):
I haven't heard a theory that makes any sense other
than they just goofed on this one and it's going
to be looked upon really poorly historically.

Speaker 4 (26:58):
Yeah, no question is if the worst trade and the
biggest trade since Babe Ruth probably or you know, Kareem
coming to Los Angeles from Milwaukee wasn't even this big.
I don't think you're talking about a twenty five year
old Fenon and the only thing I can think of
is ownership. You know, maybe they don't want to pay

(27:19):
that much, Maybe they don't you know, I can't imagine
them not caring about winning. So work ethic, I mean, look,
his work ethics so far has put him amongst the
greats and all a lot of different categories. I mean,
I mean, I mean, I'll take a guy who's maybe not,

(27:41):
you know, in the greatest shape yet, but he gave
me forty five you know, Sicuille O'Neill wasn't always in
the great shape either. That you know that a lot
of people wanted him to be. But evasically they get there.
I mean, he's only twenty five and being around Lebron
and being around some guys who has the formula to longevity,

(28:03):
that's only going to get better. I don't think he's
going to get in worse shape. He's only going to
understand like any other young player, I mean, we all
came into the league. I was, I was knocking down,
you know, six pack or two a week, you know,
until I was, you know, twenty five or twenty, so
I get it. So you know, the guy can play,
and here's his work. Ethic is only going to get better.

Speaker 2 (28:23):
The weekend belongs to Michelot, the Great James Worthy a
lot from the airport on the Petro said Buddy show,
Jonas knock sitting in having a great time. James. When
we started talking at the beginning of the season, we
all knew that the West was going to be interesting
and very tight. But this is a whole different situation.
How do you make of this stretch run? It's it's

(28:45):
a lot of fun, a lot of hot teams, a
lot of competition.

Speaker 4 (28:49):
Dude, the cream is starting to rise, you know, look
at look at it, just look at Look at the
Warriors up up until I think last night they got
beat on on since Barns, like you know, long three.
But they've been hot, and they've added Butler and they
have Draymonds and they have Steph. That's cream rising to

(29:11):
the top. Look at the Clippers. You know, they have
been playing very well. They got Kawhi Leonard playing like
he's you know, his MVP years, you know, and they
got Zubat, they got Powell, they got they're playing well,
you know, you know, you look at what the Lakers
have done, okay, and then you look at you know,

(29:32):
other teams who are right there tight. So it's going
to be interesting. And I know there are teams that
are favored Oklahoma, Houston, but when you get in the
seven game series, there's not gonna be the guarantees for
Oklahoma or you know, the number two teams. I don't
I don't know if Houstons has as much you know,

(29:52):
respect as Oklahoma, but there's not gonna be the guarantees
with Oklahoma. And I like the way the Lakers have
been playing them the last you know, a couple of times,
with the exception of Luca getting thrown out, you know,
we may have had a chance to send even a
stronger message to them. So yeah, they're a great regular

(30:13):
season team. But when you get down to a seven
game series and it's just you locking in on one team,
things change. So it's going to be very interesting and
somewhat unpredictable over here in the West.

Speaker 5 (30:27):
James, what do you make of the state of coaching
in the NBA that with Mike Malone's firing less than
two years after they just want a title. I think
that makes four of the last six coaches to win
a title in the NBA are no longer with that team. Well,
what's the what's the cutthroat approach to coaching in the
NBA and where does that.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
Land with you?

Speaker 4 (30:46):
Yeah, it's different than I've ever seen. I mean, same
thing in Memphis. You know, you know, they're getting rid
of their coach after the All Star break. You know,
usually when these type of moves were made historically, you know,
it was like, you know, December or All Star break.
I see where we are at all start breaks, but
three games to go, that's a big jolt to your

(31:11):
players who are used to the winning. This coach that
has ever been there. In Denver, the rumors I've heard
is the GM and the coach didn't get along. We'll
see what happened there. We don't know yet. But I
thought it was really abruptly, you know, and I think
unnecessary to take a coach away unless the players just

(31:36):
And then I heard in message that it was Jah
didn't like the way and I don't think he should
ever be a player's decision to out the coach. But
we'll see what's going on in Denver. I don't know
the exact details yet, but it seems really strange.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
Does Adelman have a mustache like the other Addlelmans? Because
if he has that little eighties much sash that fighter
pilot mustache and look out. James. We love you man.
Thank you for making the time today. We know you're
busy working and there's people waiting for you, so thank
you so much for answering the questions. Talk to you

(32:14):
soon soon, There he goes, James Worthy.

Speaker 3 (32:18):
Brought to you by your Southern California four Dealers. If
your vehicle was damaged by the recent La Area fires,
your Southern California four Dealers are offering you employee pricing,
take advantage of it plus no payments for one hundred
and twenty days. Because this is our home too. It

(32:42):

Speaker 2 (32:43):
That's a great read, Tim, That's really good. Tim does
a lot of reads. You listen to the Dodger games
on the station, it's it's Tim shoemash to the face
the time. Yeah, Zen she sushe at Ralph's. Oh, get
it right by the deli section. It's over by the deli. Great.

Speaker 5 (33:00):
Yeah, it's fantastic.

Speaker 3 (33:01):
The mango crunchy Dragon roll man. I suggest that one.

Speaker 2 (33:04):
Always a great conversation with James Worthy. Always great to
have Jonas in his line up here to talk to
James Worthy, ask him questions. You always enjoy talking a
big game, James Game, James Navy, show up tomorrow morning
the LeVar and Brady Quinn with your chest out talking
big James. You guys think you're a big time game. Yeah,
you think you're big time. You gonna die big time?

(33:34):
Why no, everybody, what's crying? Welcome back, great sports talk
back on the air. Happy to be with you. That's
Tim Kats doing great sports talk. Well, Jonas and I
have our own drama. We can't worry about what other
people are doing. Jonas came in here today dressed like
the basis for Week the Less Claypool or the basis

(33:58):
for Weezer. His wife just shot a or got shot
by a cop and Eagle Rock. I don't know what
happened there. I don't know how you get booked for
attempted murder not firing a shot, right, Like, my name
is Jonas, all right. This is a little bit of
a diversion for us. This guy hasn't been on the

(34:20):
air in a while. Let's dial him up. You guys
may have heard of the Petrosen Money Listener Union, the
PMS Listener Union. The Petrosen Money Listener Union is really
just a guy named Ryan van Pile, and he's a
bit of a polymath. He is a music teacher. He

(34:42):
taught Matt's daughter guitar for a long time, Preston Smith.
He teaches music to my kids, Fletcher bass and Calli guitar.
And I think he still does that work at PMS
Union is him on Twitter. But he's got a new venture.
He owns Bert's Burgers. I don't know why it's named.

(35:02):
Maybe it's named after our engineer Bert Gourmet sliders, fries, shakes,
and pies. And he's having a soft launch. I guess
that's what you would call it on two twenty one
Main Street in Huntington Beach. So all you Huntington Beach
heads wrapped in the American flag, get on down there
at Burt's Burgers. On Facebook and Instagram. It's a limited

(35:23):
pre launch menu of sliders, fries, and shakes. And I
think it's Friday, it's everything or Saturday Saturday. I'm sorry,
I'm sorry, Saturday down at Bert's on Main Street. Everything
is five dollars each. I'd say we should have a
special deal for great sports talk, great sports talk, but

(35:45):
it's like, what do you want? It's everything's five dollars
each already. I mean, come on, so joining us in
your Southern California Toyota Dealer celebrity hotline. It is Ryan
Van til the Union guy on the Petrosen Money Show.
Hi Ryan, how are you welcome to the show?

Speaker 7 (36:00):
Oh Pee, thank you, Jonas, thank you, Tim, thank you.
It's great to be here.

Speaker 2 (36:05):
What no love for Ronnie? That's all right, it's all right.
Tell us tell us Ryan, I mean, because for a
long time you've had the music company and you've taught
music to young people, and that's a very gratifying thing.
But I know that you have a passion for cooking
and preparing food for people. Tell us about this adventure

(36:26):
and what you're doing here.

Speaker 7 (36:27):
Yeah, it's been a wild story. I sold my music
school that you guys helped me with during COVID. It
actually helped saves through the advertising I did here on
a five seventy. I sold the school a couple of
years ago, and I've just been trying to throw out
what to do next. And I love teaching, especially my
two evenings a week where I get to deal with
pee with your monsters. But I decided last year. I

(36:53):
was like, you know, I've always gone to parties and
I make these sliders and people say they're good. And
I have barbecues and I cook burgers and people say
they're good. What if I just did that? And so
I started a catering company. And over the last eight months,
it's just been the most incredible roller coaster ride that
has ended up with me closing last week on to

(37:14):
have my own restaurant on Main Street in Huntington Beach.
And it's just been wild and I'm so excited and
grateful and pinching myself, can't believe I'm here.

Speaker 5 (37:24):
Right, You've got a gift, man, I'm looking at some
of the food. This looks fantastic. When did you know?
When did you know that you were able to do this?
And people were started to notice your gift and.

Speaker 2 (37:35):
What you're able to do. Fourth of July two thousand
and five.

Speaker 7 (37:38):
Yeah, just I went to a barbecue fourth of July
two thousand and five. I've got the tray sliders. They
were gone in ten seconds and never and what in
God's name were those? Uh? And then I have a
chef partner who I work with. He's a real chef
is It's what he does for a living is cook
all over the He's a tour chef for some rock

(37:59):
bands that burn. No. Bert Birt is my bloodhound.

Speaker 2 (38:04):
Oh like where the red fern grows.

Speaker 7 (38:09):
Yeah, yeah, he's just about the same. He's a big
giant bloodhound. I have two dogs. Bert got the name
of the bird place. My other Dogyk got the short
end of the stick. He's just got a sandwich named
after him. But Bert Burger's just sounded too good to
pass up, so we named it after Burt and after
steak face of course.

Speaker 2 (38:27):
Yeah, that's what I've got a lot. I've got a
lot of steakface text here on the secret text also
line so it's a soft launch on Saturday. What time
are you going to start? It doesn't say Bertsberger's out
front yet, does it? Or does did you get like
a sign like a like a like a canvas sign
to cover up the old sign. Like, what's going on
out there? Man?

Speaker 7 (38:47):
We are holding we are crossing our fingers that our
sweet banner will arrive on Friday so we can have
it up on Saturday. This is all happened within the
last week. It's been a crazy, crazy story. So we're like,
I mean, I just hired another cook today ordering my
meat when I get off the phone with you guys,
it's wild. But it's inside Coaches Delhi. The sign will

(39:09):
still say Coaches Delhi, but two two one Main Street
and it's called Bertsburgers, And yeah, we'll be there. We'll
be there starting at eleven am on Saturday, and we
plan to cook till too. But if there's you know,
people still wanting to eat and we've still got the beef,
we'll keep slinging.

Speaker 2 (39:24):
Burgers Bert's Burgers, gourmet sliders, fries, shakes and pies five
dollars per item on Saturday. Two two one Main Street,
Huntington Beach. Support the Petros and money listener union guy
Ryan Van Pile newly engaged. You know, he's got two
dogs to take care of and this is his new

(39:45):
business venture. And we of course support every move that
he makes. Congratulations on the business, Ryan, and thank you
very much for joining us to talk about it, as
you are the union guy and you closely monitor the show.
Do you have any special requests for the the rest
of the show that we will probably likely not adhere to.

Speaker 7 (40:04):
Have you done a song on the day yet?

Speaker 2 (40:07):
Ronnie does the song of the day and as you know,
you know we don't tamper.

Speaker 7 (40:10):
With that, right, Well, my request was for Jonas to
tamper with it so we could get his head cut
off by Ronnie.

Speaker 2 (40:16):
Yeah, well that's I need for the other two and
a half hours.

Speaker 5 (40:19):
I mean, if Don McLean's not safe, I'm not.

Speaker 6 (40:21):
Going down that.

Speaker 2 (40:23):
Thank you, Ryan, have a great night and good luck
on this venture. Bert's Burger's everybody on Saturday, Huntington Beach
where everybody knows how to party. He's going to fly
a bunch of American flags so everybody feels safe and
at home. Bless you, Ryan, and good luck to you brother.

Speaker 7 (40:39):
Thank you all right.

Speaker 2 (40:40):
You know that he's collecting like Austin, he does these
you know, he does the things online with the kids,
and like the other day he was teaching my daughter
something and like you could hear my son like just
explode screaming at us, you know some like girl drama
or something. Oh really, you know, like yeah, and use
like an F four it or something. And Ryan clipped

(41:02):
it off and like sent it to Fletcher. And it's
like he's got like a library of my dysfunctional, neurodivergent family.
It's like it's not that anybody really cares, like how disponed? Yeah,
And it's like I don't you know, I mean, I

(41:22):
don't I don't think that anybody sports like nobody really cares, like, oh, like,
I don't think anybody's shocked, Like wow, you know, those
are a bunch of like, you know really uh, those
people seem to be struggling mentally in that. I don't
think anybody's like really shocked. But it's kind of funny
that he has like tapes, like he sent one to
Fletcher and you could hear Fletcher that.

Speaker 5 (41:43):
I will say this, and you know, from having family
in the restaurant business myself as well, how difficult that
business is to start from the ground up.

Speaker 2 (41:51):
Yeah, like not easy. Good luck. Well, you know, it's
not very different. It's not very different from I mean,
I like in it to what a little bit because
I grew up in a restaurant to sort of what
we do, even though this is a much more sedentary job.
And my back doesn't hurt at the end of the
day doing this job, like and I was amazed, Like

(42:11):
I'd be twelve and I'd be like, oh, my back hurts,
like I'm like a fifty year old man, like you know.
But the one thing that is similar to the restaurant
business to doing daily sports talk radio, if you really
do it, like care about it with passion great sports
talk I believe we have passion, uh, is you got
to you gotta resuscitate that corpse every day, like you've
got to be on top of your show, pressing into

(42:33):
the sternum of it and keeping it breathing all the time.
And that's how the restaurant has to be. No one
can carry more care more than you about your show
with your name on it. And it has to be
that way in a restaurant too. And that's why you
see so many restaurants have somebody owns a restaurant and
they hire somebody to manage the restaurant and they say, oh,
they got it. Well, you know, that does that person

(42:55):
have the investment that you have. Does that person bleed
with this place? You know, that's why you have to
be in there and bleed with that plays and Ryan
certainly that way.

Speaker 5 (43:04):
If it's yours, you care more, and you most likely
care more than the people that you bring in to help,
because that's you. You dedicated everything to this and so
to see him going out on his own to make
it good for him, man, that's awesome.

Speaker 2 (43:18):
We hired a cook today. This is not the work
of a cook. Casey Ryebeck under siege, same thing. This
is not the work of a cook. A cook. Thanks
for listening, everybody. We'll be back. Word number song of
