Speaker 5 (01:23):
Growing it up live at the Chargers Charity Golf Tournament
Pee and uh they're coming. We had Troy Die and
then Joe Ortie's and now sitting between us.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Yet another guest, how glorious this is?

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Well, we love Ladd McConkey. He's always been fun to
talk to. We met him last year at this tournament.
They brought him out with with Joe Alt and some
other weird rookies, and now Ladd has emerged as one
of everybody's favorite wide receivers, at least on the West Coast.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Such a great rookie year and an eventful offseason. Young
man has been married. Uh, it is great to be
around him and fun to have him back on the show.
Lad mccaukey, a great performing rookie with the Chargers last
year on your Southern California Toyota Dealer Celebrity.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
Headset Here at the golf course. How's your day been
going so far? Lad?

Speaker 6 (02:11):
Well, it depends with what holy yeah you asked me about,
But overall it's been a good day. You know, it's
a Monday where I are playing golf, so I can't
complain too much.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
No.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
You know, last year we talked to you and you
were you know, you actually looked pretty much the same,
you know, a fresh faced young man with a smile
on his face that people like to be around. But
when you just and We talked about it with Joe Horntiz,
just between last year and this year, thinking about the
position you're in, what you didn't know that you now
know looking back on that time. How does it feel

(02:40):
to be where you are right now?

Speaker 7 (02:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (02:42):
You know it's greats. I feel like you're coming in
as a rookie and you're like, oh, shoot, what do
I do? This is different, this is new, and you're
trying to find your place. And now it's like, okay,
I got a little understanding of you know, a playbook
and what everything's about. So now it's about like a right,
let me hone in, let me see how I can improve.
And I feel like I've been, you know, working on
this offseason.

Speaker 5 (02:59):
Going to the season, you always hear about seventeen games. Yeah,
just how big of a difference not to mention seventeen
NFL games?

Speaker 2 (03:06):
What was that like? When did you realize it?

Speaker 5 (03:08):
Did you feel like you hit sort of a moment
where you're like, holy crap, I've got X number of
games more left of this.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Yeah? I was.

Speaker 6 (03:15):
Me and Joe were playing today and I was like, yeah,
you know, our bie week was so early last year
and I was like, we have our bye week, week five,
and now I have a college season to try to
like split it up like that. But I was like,
oh my gosh, it's a lot of games. But he
just tried to take a week by week, really nice
week by week, day by day, and then you know,
stacks up and ended up you know, I ended up
more healthy at the end of the year, I felt
like than I was throughout the middle of it.

Speaker 5 (03:36):
So does it change how you approach? Did you like
learn anything from that about how and you got a
great buy this year. That's kind of nice to have
it in week twelve.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (03:43):
For me, it was just like all the bodywork, just
give my body healthy.

Speaker 6 (03:46):
It's like it's longevity likes best ability is availability. So
I missed one game last year, which obviously do I
want to be out there for all of them and
that's the goal. So just you know, stacking days this year,
staying healthy and being out there.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
You are you're playing at a high level pretty much,
you know, your entire football career, highest levels in high
school obviously, in college at Georgia and championships.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
Uh and uh, you.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Know, but we all as football players, you know, you
go to a new place, like you said, you don't
know what it's gonna be like, Yep, you grew up
watching these guys play at this level. Were you surprised
at your ability to have an impact right away? You know,
your ability to get open uh the quarterback? Yeah, you're
trusting you and becoming what you became as a rookie.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (04:30):
I mean, I don't want to say I don't want
to say surprise, Like I believed in myself and then
you know what I was capable capable of, but you
know it didn't happen early. No, no, no, I'm saying
like I had. I had a couple of games. It's like,
you know, I have a couple of catches thirty something
yards whatever. It was really just building that confidence, like
in myself, also with Justin with the coaching staff, and
I think our coaches do a great jobs, like if

(04:51):
you're if you're hot, getting you know, get the hot
hand the ball. So we started doing that and I
feel like we just started building and building and hopefully
can keep that.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
They talk a lot out there, I mean they because
you know that I was always surprised that, you know,
I'm being more of an interior guy.

Speaker 4 (05:05):
How much people talked out there.

Speaker 7 (05:07):
No no one says anything.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Yeah, how do you do it through the fatigue? Like
how do you run those routes? Come back and they're
still talking? Like is something where you're breathing? Like how
do you manage that?

Speaker 6 (05:20):
I mean I personally, I mean I tried not to
do too much talking. Uh, depends what game it is.
But it's all fun and games. It's like that's part
of it. It's like, not nothing personal, it's just where
they're competing and it's fun.

Speaker 7 (05:30):
So it's like it's part of it.

Speaker 6 (05:32):
You work in practice, and practices will be harder than
the games and then your other playing.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
If you were out there smiling at me after a
twenty five yard catch, I wouldn't be very happy.

Speaker 4 (05:39):
I think.

Speaker 7 (05:39):
I think that's uh, that's more than saying something if
you just you know, smiled.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Like yeah, if I'm something angry veteran, Yeah, got just
got burned for one hundred and ninety yards and eight
touches and a couple of touchdowns.

Speaker 5 (05:51):
Thinking about the New England game. But what's the meanest
thing you ever said to somebody? Do you remember saying it? Like,
oh that was a little mean, the.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Meanest thing, Yeah, just like did you did you have
get personal just like that.

Speaker 5 (06:02):
I've been busting you up for the last anything like that,
Like what was it?

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Come on?

Speaker 7 (06:06):
I don't know, I can't think of the top of
my head.

Speaker 5 (06:08):
Can you remember an argument? Like did anybody get pissed
off at anything you said at them? H?

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Nothing?

Speaker 6 (06:14):
Nothing now comment no, no comment, noble.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
How do you like living in Los Angeles? In southern California?
There's your young wife flag game.

Speaker 7 (06:22):
Yeah, she loves it.

Speaker 6 (06:23):
The weather's perfect, so it's like, you know, year round
she can, you know, go go on her walks, do
whatever she wants to do. So it's awesome. A little
different than you know, Chatsworth in Georgia.

Speaker 5 (06:33):
But more popular Chasworth, California to Chatsworth, California.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
Do it.

Speaker 6 (06:38):
I still haven't been there. There's nothing there perfect, No,
but it's a I've gotten used to. It's it's cool,
it's clear, all.

Speaker 5 (06:45):
Right, great lab Macaffe exactly right. What about the wide
receiver room this year? If you had a chance, like
you reach out text wise Trey Harris.

Speaker 7 (06:52):
Yeah, so they're in the city now, they're back.

Speaker 6 (06:54):
How you know a week with them last year or
last week, So it's right now, Like we just have
a competitive room, like and that's that's a blessing. And
I mean, you know, in a curse, it's like you
look at the numbers and you know at some point
somebody's not gonna be there. But I think that's gonna
what what's going to bring, you know, that room to
the next level. Everybody's can compete for a spot and
when it comes season down, we're gonna be ready.

Speaker 5 (07:13):
What about Big Mike You got kind of the you know,
having him back, having that veteran and a Clemson guy, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
No doubt. You know, he's conferences you.

Speaker 6 (07:22):
Uh no, he's uh, you know, he's been around, he's
been in the league, and he's you know, produced at
a high level. So just you know, talking to him
and feeding off him and just seeing how he goes
back as a business has been cool.

Speaker 5 (07:30):
To say it real quick before we let you go,
just the one food from Georgia that you can't get
here that you're like, man, I just I need need mom.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
They just send me some of that there, h.

Speaker 4 (07:41):
I said.

Speaker 7 (07:42):
My mom cooks good chicken cast role.

Speaker 6 (07:43):
I don't know chicken castle castro, but my wife's my
wife does a pretty good one too, So okay, fine,
he brought it, she brought.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
It, And there were no fewer than sixty bridesmaids and
groomsmen for the maconco You know that is how popular it's,
young man, and where women are.

Speaker 7 (08:00):
God bless, I've got a lot of good company.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
Well, congratulations on all your success. It's been fun to
watch you play football. Thank you and enjoy your day.
We'll be back with more great sports talk on the
Patterson Money Show. Matt, what's hear? The voice of the Bolts, Matt,
what do we?

Speaker 3 (08:14):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
I'm looking.

Speaker 5 (08:15):
I see Joe and Josh back. They're all still uh,
they're all still chatting. I think they're keeping eyes on
whether or not coach is going to be driven up
here or not. So we'll uh yeah, all right, we'll good,
we'll break all right. Maybe maybe we got this thing
figured out.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
Maybe not. Who knows?

Speaker 5 (08:38):
That's you are some money live on location. It is
the Chargers Charity Golf Tournament. Great success. I believe we
have crowned a champion golfer of the twenty twenty five
Chargers competition seemed like it was spirited. A lot of
guys made the final round P and now we have
the man responsible for it all.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
We come out here to talk to Jim Hartball, the
head coach of the Chargers. He's been on our radar
as a show. This show has been on about twenty
years and coach. We followed him at USD. We followed
him very closely and called games both of US Stanford
games and of course the Niners Michigan football. I got

(09:15):
to call a game out at Michigan at the Big House.
And of course as the head coach of the Chargers,
who's got it better than us here in LA. But
I know the answer to that, right Jim Harbaugh, Southern California,
Toyota Dealers Celebrity Hotline at the golf tournament for the
Chargers here in Orange County at Monarch Beach.

Speaker 4 (09:34):
What's cracking, coach?

Speaker 8 (09:35):
I'll tell you what. We had some drama today. Garrett
row was the champion. We also had John Spanos was
in the finals, Scotty Mattlock was in the finals. Josh
Harris made the finals. But this hitter, Matt Locke, I say, yeah, yeah, tremendous.
Though Garrett rowe he had to make. He had to
make the first playoff he had to make about a
twelve footer for part to stay in at which he did,

(09:57):
and then he came back, had closest to the pin
on the second playoff hole and ended up another tie.
And then when we're back, had a chip off and
uh yeah, a lot a lot of grit there, Garrett Row.
It was impressive.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
We see you.

Speaker 8 (10:11):
I did not make the finals.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
Since you were wondering, well, I would have been.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
I know you're a competitive guy. You know you like
to win. You know it's a good feeling. Yeah, but
in the golf game. I remember you explained this whole
thing to us last year, how you've turned the tournament
on a competition, and I can't say that I still
understand it, but I feel but I've never it's part it's.

Speaker 8 (10:29):
Part uh, it's part Ryder Cup and part Masters. You
know it goes from team play right to individual play.

Speaker 4 (10:37):
There.

Speaker 5 (10:37):
That's exactly right. Team's great and then let's go individuals.
We got the caddies in front of us, by the
way right now getting their round in. They did a
great job with everybody, so I guy Brian right there
did a heck of a job with us. Love the caddies,
able to get out here and get a twilight round in.
Do you like golf? Like just in terms of have
you been to the Masters, have you done that? You've
been to a Ryder Cup any of that stuff.

Speaker 8 (10:58):
So I've been to the Masters. I have took daughter
Addie and son Jack to the Masters two years ago.
Scotti Scheffler won it. We were there for four days,
had our green chairs and uh saw every Saturday, every
hole except for two and we were there from eight
am right till the last player left eighteen. My kids
were troopers. Loved that. Also took Jack and and my

(11:22):
father to the PGA Championship at black Page.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
Be Page beth Page, be Page Black.

Speaker 8 (11:31):
Best beth Page Black. That was won by uh.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
Mister Okay brooks k Yeah Brooks.

Speaker 8 (11:37):
Keper won that one. So yeah, A big fan of it.
I uh, I like to play, especially now I got
the hippie playing. It's great. I'm a new man of
the old Iron Horse. Went in for some fine tuning
and it came out a better man. Uh and I
love watching it on Sunday. You know, just uh like
this this past past weekend.

Speaker 5 (11:57):
You know, you just got Front nine and Scotty just
flips that switch and that's it.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
Man. Yeah, that's crazy.

Speaker 8 (12:02):
And I get sometimes, you know, get a little nap
in about you know, when they're on the whole ten
or eleven.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
Exactly, you know exactly that you wake up for sixteen
seventeen eighteen. Yeah, we go.

Speaker 8 (12:11):
Yeah, I mean that got much better than that.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
I told a story on the air not long ago
where I was at your your first camp at Stanford,
and uh, I was, you know, I was, dude, the
Pac ten game of the week. So we went to
all the camps and they were all the same. I
just stood there. And then but I went to your
camp at Stanford. It was your first camp at Stanford,
and you were under center a lot, and you were

(12:35):
pushing the team from under center and and you were coaching.
And I was like, I was riveted by it watching
your coach and you were running the diamond drill and
Oklahoma and all kinds of stuff. And I stayed an
extra day because I was so I was so inspired
by the style of practice. And just the other day
I saw Andrew Luck some photos and a story and

(12:56):
he was, you know, dressed just like you, and he
was under center and running practice in spring ball at
Stanford as he's there now and it.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
Realizes how you do it. It reminded me so much
your luck show about it, you know, and.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
You told me, you know, I remember you told me.
You know, Andrew was a red shirt at that time,
and he was red shirting on that team, and you said,
you know, this is Andrew, Lucky's going to be great,
but we're red shirting him. And you know, you did
it in the midst of you know, sweating and the
whistle was flapping around, and it was really great. You
know what made you? Like what what made you do
that when you when you showed it, when you show

(13:28):
up at places, Is it just natural to.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
You to do that?

Speaker 1 (13:31):
You I mean cause it just it was so different
and it was such a great thing. And to see
him doing it, yeah, and a whole new generation. It
was just a wonderful thing.

Speaker 8 (13:38):
Oh, there's just a couple couple of things that played there.
I think probably the top of the list is, uh,
we're talking almost twenty years ago, right, So I still
felt like I had a couple more years in me,
you know, I felt like maybe at least two more years.
In fact, when I was coaching a USD, I looked

(13:59):
into the had An Arena team that played in the
spring in Los Angeles, and I was kind of looking
at oll I could coach. I could coach USD in
the fall, and then I could I could go play
Way for the Adventures, play for the Avengers in the spring.
I mean, those those are the things that are going
through your mind, you know. But you know, there's just
there's nothing like playing. And you know that, you know

(14:21):
that coach is the next best thing. And uh so
sometimes when I was coaching, I hey, I can get
back in there and play. And I'm the head coach.
I could I could jump in there that. But yeah,
I haven't done that. I haven't done that.

Speaker 4 (14:35):
Ports Avida couldn't get any reps.

Speaker 5 (14:39):
You know.

Speaker 8 (14:39):
When I stopped doing it, To be honest with you,
when I stopped doing it was because I do it
to demonstrate. Yeah, you know, how to take a stamp,
a drop, a handoff, you know. And uh I caught
myself on film one time at the forty nine ers
there's probably like two thousand and twelve, and I go, oh,
that does not look like what I'm trying.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
It's not a good demonstration.

Speaker 8 (15:02):
Yeah, it's not a good demonstration, I am making them
a victim of over coaching.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
Here.

Speaker 8 (15:06):
Just go ahead and you guys do.

Speaker 5 (15:08):
It speaking a different You had rookie camp and it
was totally different. And when you got to the lectern
and you were explaining your thought process, It's like, that
makes so much sense. Why why has no one thought
of this before? Maybe talk to the you know, tell
the people kind of what you did and why you
did it.

Speaker 8 (15:24):
Yeah. Yeah, So you know, to bring the rookies in
right out right out of uh, you know, off a
plane and then put them out there in eleven on eleven,
uh or seven on seven even just didn't seem like
the best way to evaluate talent, and talent's king. Talent
is the number one thing that you should be evaluating

(15:45):
players on. So I felt the fairest way to do
it was, uh, you know, put them through the drills
that they're gonna have to learn anyway to be in
the team special teams, offense, defense, and uh, and then
evaluate them in that make that competitive. And then and
by the time we get to eleven and eleven, which
is still another you know week ten days away for

(16:05):
the whole team, then uh, you know, they'd be well
instead of eleven and eleven then evaluate. Let's go evaluate,
then get our better, get our best guys when we
get to eleven on eleven and the the object is
just to find the gem, you know, like you're mining
for gold, trying to find that one or two guys
that could make your team better, the.

Speaker 4 (16:27):
Great gym harball.

Speaker 2 (16:28):
We found found find a couple, right, Yeah, we sure did.

Speaker 4 (16:32):
Does that ever surprise you?

Speaker 1 (16:33):
You know when you find these guys that and and
they don't they just don't look the same on tape
as they look when they're in front of you, and
and what they can do for your team.

Speaker 8 (16:42):
Well, I mean the and that's part of it, you know,
like we're gonna teach them a system and they're have
an hour and a half meeting and then you know,
whoever goes out there and maybe knows the system better
has a has a better chance of making the team.

Speaker 4 (16:55):
Right.

Speaker 8 (16:55):
But uh, yeah, we uh we did a different way,
and uh I think I think was productive and uh
we did find a what we think is a maybe
a diamond in the Yeah. D camp Campbell, Yeah, uh
so we we signed him. We signed him right after
the uh, right after the del Von Campbell from from
South Carolina.

Speaker 5 (17:16):
I was thinking of the other South Carolina player, your
your guy Rocket who you know was it didn't have
to go through kind of everything.

Speaker 8 (17:22):
So Rocket Rocket was. He was on the he was
on the squad. He was on the ninety man squad
going into that rookie mini camp weekend. He was an
undrafted sign free agent. He's on the team. But dale
Von was a tryout guy. He was there trying out
in your your and and and uh made the team.

(17:42):
How about that? Pretty pretty great? Now we found some
other guys that that that belonged, I mean, everybody that
was out there that we felt belonged. And uh, about
a half a dozen guys we did a physical on.
So I told him to stay frosty. And who knows,
maybe a week, maybe two weeks or before camp starts,
you know, if there's an opening, well we'll get one

(18:03):
of one of them back or six.

Speaker 4 (18:06):
Still waiting for the phone to ring. Uh.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
Last year, we were all together at Rolling Hills Country
Club for this golf tournament and you were showing us
the tattoo and we were just coming off, you know,
one of the great college seasons of all time.

Speaker 4 (18:19):
And I reference this all.

Speaker 1 (18:21):
The time because people talk about how difficult I know,
your way past it, but how difficult college football is
because now because of the nil and the portal and
all these things. But the team that you built in
Michigan was not a portal team, and it wasn't an
IL team.

Speaker 4 (18:35):
Really.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
It was just guys that that you recruited and created, right.
I mean, they'd learned to play together, and in the
fourth quarner they'd eat people, you know, like chicken strips,
That's what they did.

Speaker 4 (18:44):
It was a beautiful thing. Uh does any does anybody
to cut it down?

Speaker 3 (18:49):
Do?

Speaker 4 (18:49):
I mean?

Speaker 1 (18:49):
But it was I mean I watched the fourth quarner
of the one in the snow where Deerdorf's crying and you.

Speaker 4 (18:54):
Get running them over, and I mean it was an
I didn't play in Michigan. I was. I was inspired
by that. You know. Uh, how often do you think
of that year? How often do you think you'll think
of that year in your life?

Speaker 1 (19:07):
You know, doing this now and inspiring a whole other group.
I mean, uh, do you think we'll ever see anything
like that again in college football?

Speaker 3 (19:16):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (19:16):
I mean it this great team, How often do I
think about it? Uh? You know, forever proud, forever proud,
and uh, you know now it's I went the next one.
You know, I got the tattoo on the right arm
for the Michigan National Championship and saving the space there
on the left for the for the Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (19:34):
And last year was such a you know, you just
showed up. You're moving your family and we talked to
Joe Ortiz about it too. You're figuring out the lay
of the land, You've taken over, new franchises and new programs.
How different is year one to year two, just as
far as comfort level, dealing with people and getting done
what you need to get done.

Speaker 8 (19:53):
Yeah, I think you can make the most progress from
year one to year two as a individual player or
as a team. So you know, we're just we're doing
anything and everything we can to do that. And the
reason is that, I mean you're doing everything for a
second time. You're doing everything again. So uh yeah, we're
uh and we're changing some things. It's uh, we're we're
growing and uh, everybody's just just pouring into it. So uh,

(20:18):
there's just a lot of good a lot of good
petros and uh, you know, we're just kind of kind
of keep trying to build, build, build, and get better, better, better.

Speaker 5 (20:25):
And one of the great things that I think a
lot of people appreciate as you're out there. You know,
some coaches or you know, high profile people show up.
They're not really visible, they're not out there, but we
see you with the firemen, we see you at games,
we see you with the kids, and you're everywhere.

Speaker 4 (20:42):
I saw a little League game, Sunflowers League.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
Gay, Yeah, we run it throwing.

Speaker 8 (20:46):
Man, I'm at Little lea game in.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
Front of mine. Ran into a church in San Diego.

Speaker 5 (20:50):
Like you're out, you're out with the people, and kind
of is there is there something that stands out or
some things that you're able to do some games or
whatever it may be that it's a great place to live.

Speaker 2 (20:59):
Man, there's so much to do out here.

Speaker 5 (21:01):
Just kind of your first year being here and and
everything this particular area has to offer.

Speaker 8 (21:06):
Yeah, I'll tell you what name it, weekday week and
it doesn't matter. I'm uh, I'm really enjoying it. I'm
enjoy uh, I enjoy work, I enjoy uh, you know,
the being in the community. I just uh, you know,
I feel California. It's it's a great place, you know,
It's just Uh, it's I almost look at it. You're

(21:30):
you're allowed to be you. You know, you're allowed to
be yourself. You don't got everybody. Uh it's kind of
a judgment free area. You know, you don't have everybody
pointing out you go, you got to be like this,
you gotta be like that. I mean, I just think, Uh,
it's one of the things I just love about California
is it allows you to be who you are.

Speaker 4 (21:46):
Jim Harbaugh everybody, and I like to be out.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
I like to you know, I like to get the
best engaged.

Speaker 8 (21:51):
That's one of my favorite words. I like to like to.

Speaker 1 (21:54):
You're certainly doing it. And it's a it's a treat
and a pleasure for our listeners to be able to
hear from you.

Speaker 4 (21:58):
Thank you so much. Everybody been great.

Speaker 8 (22:00):
Everyone's been great to me, to my to my wife's Sarah,
to the to the kids. I mean, they playing Little League,
they're having at it. It's an it's I'm here to
tell you for kids, this is an unfair advantage to
live in California and uh be able to play all
year round whatever sport they want to do. And and yeah,

(22:21):
very very happy about that. The kids are attacking it
with an enthusiasm.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
No, man, let's go Sting. We're still playing with the
Sting Racer.

Speaker 8 (22:32):
No are they the Manhattan Beachinger.

Speaker 4 (22:35):
Manhattan Beach or Bowling Green, Kentucky. Tough call. We love
your coach. Thank you.

Speaker 8 (22:42):
How many games did you do? I mean it seems
like you were doing every game? Well, we just about
everyone pick you.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
They'd pick you, and if we couldn't pick s C,
we'd pick you, and then we picked you versus s C.
And that was the What's your Deal?

Speaker 4 (22:54):
Game?

Speaker 1 (22:54):
I remember that one we did, the one with Jeremiah
ma solely up in up Stanford, Oregon versus Stanford when
Toby went off. Yeah, just wonderful memories of all those
games over the years, A lot of them with Toby
and Maurici. The one where the kid dropped the ball
where you had to play action up in Oregon State.
Think he lost that one andrew luck up there the Beefs.

Speaker 8 (23:17):
Yeah, yeah, I kind of screwed up a field goal
punt go for it situation.

Speaker 4 (23:22):
At the Johuaz Rogers.

Speaker 8 (23:23):
Yeah. Boy, he was good. He was a good player.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (23:26):
Can I tell you? I and I'm such a big
fan of you, Petros and I when I was back
in Michigan. You know, especially if we won a game.
If we won a game, then I would, uh, my
routine was played the noon game and then I would
go Then I'd go home and watch TV.

Speaker 4 (23:42):
They have Utah States.

Speaker 8 (23:46):
And I'm rude against I'm rude against everybody. Yeah, time,
is there any possibily that everybody could lose?

Speaker 4 (23:52):
It didn't work out that way.

Speaker 8 (23:53):
But then I would just if we won, I would
watch game, the afternoon game, then the seven o'clock game,
and then I'd get the past ten after dark. Here
comes Petros into my living room, like, let's go to college.
I would get a second win.

Speaker 4 (24:06):
The college football equivalent of Elvira, you freed.

Speaker 8 (24:11):
That's what I love about you. You bring it, You
bring it, you bring the juice, the energy. You know,
it's like the Jesus use of football.

Speaker 1 (24:17):
I've always you, I've always felt privileged being around the
sport and getting to meet great people and you and
right back. To be honest, the stories that prevail the
most and that people want to hear are about Stanford
football when you took over, because I've never seen anything
like it before or since. It was a real inspiration
and Matt a lot of those games too. We saw
him and feel free to spread the word on that.

Speaker 8 (24:39):
You don't have to be.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
Here.

Speaker 4 (24:42):
Get the word out. Have a great night, Have a
great night. We love you too, Coach.
