Speaker 1 (00:01):
Broadcasting live across the world right now. This is the
John Jay and Rich radio program. How are you feeling today?
You weren't feeling very well this morning.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Yeah, I'm hungover.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
Are you still hungover? Are you feeling better?

Speaker 2 (00:18):
I feel better?

Speaker 1 (00:19):
That's good, Yeah you were. I knew last night, right
around two AM that you were going to be down bad.
I was like, yeah, he's definitely not going to feel
good in the morning, and I was right, because it's
not very often that I'm wrong.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
Yeah, that's not true. But you weren't even up at
two am, so how did you know?

Speaker 1 (00:39):
We didn't go to bed until like three to forty five,
and I don't stay up that late.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Like, I didn't realize I like to sleep.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
I do. I realized I was ready to go all
the way to bed, but no, it had me thinking, like,
you felt bad. And then the other two people that
we went with too, my friend Peyton and my friend Away.
I guess I should say our friend, our friend Peyton,
and our friend Awaita they felt terrible too, So I'm like, yeah,

(01:09):
Peyton said she felt terrible, and I just know Awaita
probably felt terrible. I'm just assuming he didn't tell me that,
but it's because you guys drink tequila one hundred percent,
because you had to drink tequila because I was fine.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
I got them some doubles too, so that was part
of the problem.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
But the thing is is, like you, if you would
have gotten double vodka, they wouldn't have been sick. You
wouldn't have been sick.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
I don't think so.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
And I feel betrayed because towards the end of the
night they were giving away like free pink Whitney shots
and we all fell sucker for it. But that thing
tasted like straight tequila, and I know because I don't
drink tequila, and I about gagged. What's pink pink Whitney?
Is like, uh, it's a vodka. It's like a pink vodka. Yeah,

(01:54):
you did it, Awaita did it. I did it, Peyton
did it.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
I don't remember that.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
Yeah. I didn't even get the chance to really sit
here and tell you her catch up with you about
it because it was pretty loud. But so I had
talked about it a little bit on the show, how
my feelings were hurt about one of my friends who
I feel like like she hurt my feelings because she
didn't show up to my birthday party, and I feel

(02:19):
like she moves mountains for literally everyone but me, you know,
at least that's how I was feeling. And we ran
into her last night, and I haven't even gotten to
tell you how the conversation went. So now, yeah, yeah,
I'm gonna tell you.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Right now for everybody to hear.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Yeah, because I yeah, because everyone that's listened to the
podcast may have listened to the story that I told
on air a couple of weeks ago when she hurt
my feelings, okay, because I was like, she can go
and spend a weekend, you know, in Paradise Valley, but
can't come to my birthday party for an hour, Like
that hurts my feelings, Like I'm just a softy. But

(03:00):
so I told her because we're talking, and she was like,
what's wrong, Like you seem a little off, and I
was like, I'm not gonna lie to you, like my
feelings are her And she was like, is it about
your birthday? And I was like, yeah, but it's not
necessarily that it's like about my birthday. I was just like,
it's just I feel like all of the times that
like I ask you to come through and it's like

(03:22):
celebrating me. You don't gut, you can't come, and you
find every excuse in the book to not be able
to make it. And I was like, and it just
sucks and it hurts my feelings when I see you
on social media and you're like making all this time
for everyone else. And she told me that that's not
the case, and that's you know that she doesn't not
make time for me and makes time for everyone else.

(03:44):
But she said that she's sorry for undervaluing our friendship
and not taking and that she took it for granted
because I am such a low maintenance friend when it
comes to that kind of stuff. So but she she apologized,
and she actually texted me this morning too, she was like,
I'm really sorry, and I love you a lot and
I don't want for you to feel that way. Boo

(04:06):
oh gosh, I don't like.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
I don't like that response just because I I don't know,
I don't really have no input on this situation anymore.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Well, because it would kind of get under your skin
because like it would hurt my feelings and then I
would tell you, and you know, you're the one that's
having to deal with I mean, you're just upset about
it or whatever.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
This is weird. It's just weird behavior.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
So that's where you stand on that. Yeah, yeah, no
I feel that. But yeah, I don't know. I feel
I feel good though. I feel a lot better about
the situation now that we talked about it, because I
don't really like, I don't feel like I've ever really
told her, I've ever had any issue with her about

(04:52):
anything like I feel like with her if we get
annoyed with on each other, or if one of us
feel some type of way about one another, we just
like don't talk for a couple of months.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
I know you've said something before when we when we
were in Mexico.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
What that I saw what you.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Said something to her about the way you felt about.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
Oh yeah that Yeah, I was mad, and plus we
were in Mexico, so the litty.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
You usually don't do that. I just pointed out one.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
But like in other situations, I guess that's probably the
one other time that I did it. But they they
had me messed up because they said they couldn't make
it to Mexico for my birthday and they were in
San Francisco partying it up like that was not cool.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
I mean, you make time for what you want to
make time for. So that's why I don't really like
the apology or her saying all this now because that
energy wasn't shown before. So no matter, and it's going
to it's not like anything's going to change.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
Yeah, I mean I hope, So I hope things change, right,
that's what you hope for when you address us situation.
You know that makes you feel some kind of way.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
I mean, you need to be hanging out with me anyway, So.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
I do like hanging out with you though, I do
enjoy it, but no, I wanted to I wanted to
get into the w NBA Finals a little bit because
it's kind of fun that the Mercury are in the
finals and you know, that's where we're living, and we've
gotten to go to a couple of their games over
the last couple of years and stuff. Who are you

(06:31):
reading for Mercury or the ass.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
I don't really like anything, Phoenix?

Speaker 1 (06:37):
What what are you serious? You know?

Speaker 3 (06:41):
I don't like the Suns, I don't like the Cardinals,
I don't like what other teams there are here?

Speaker 1 (06:47):
Is that just because you're from Portland and you're a Phoenix.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
Hater or well, I wouldn't say. I wouldn't say I
don't like them. I just don't really care.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
You're not a fan of them. Yeah, but you wouldn't
so you're not a fan of the Mercury.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
Come on, bro, I do.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
Like this team. I do like this team, but I'm
not I wouldn't say I'm a fan.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
So I asked the question again, who are you going for?

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Mercury?

Speaker 1 (07:14):
Are the Aces?

Speaker 2 (07:16):
I don't really know.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
Honestly, I think the Mercury will win, you do, That's
what I think. It's not like I'm rooting for them.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
But I think they serious.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
I'm actually I think.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
The Aces struggle with Seattle and then they struggle with
uh Indiana Indiana without Caitlyn Clark, you know. So I
think the Suns are much much more Mercury are a
better team than the Storm and the Fever.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
So yeah, and I think they just have that dog,
you know.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
Yeah. Now, I I'm shocked by your response because I
definitely thought that you working as say that the Aces
were the you know, the shoeing to win the good Really,
I mean.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
I mean not that they're not that good.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
When I watch them, they have like what four players
on their starting on their starting five that are like
just absolutely lethal. You have Asia Wilson, who Jackie Wilson,
you know, like jew Lloyd was cooking, and Chelsea Gray
is a vet. She's that girl.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
I mean, she's not that.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
Like I'm not saying I'm not saying that, like they're lethal,
Like they're gonna all four of them are gonna put
twenty to twenty five on you.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
And it's like you can't say, I'm not saying not.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Be Okay, I shouldn't have used that word. But I
feel like they have more threats than the Mercury do
because the Mercury just has really Alyssa Thomas, sat Sakhalia
Copper and Wanta Bonner. I love her and you know
she's won won on championship with the Mercury with Diana
Trrossie and Britney Griner.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
But like she like top three in playoff points.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
I know she I think is the number two and
playing in playoff games or whatever.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Did you don't hear me say points?

Speaker 1 (09:17):
No, I heard you say points. I was about to
say that she is the she holds the record for
the most playoff games played in her career. But like
that like, but do Wanna Bonner is like, hasn't really
been doing much.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
She ain't been doing much all year.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
Yeah, but she did not want any part of that
Indiana team. She was like, get me hell up out
of here.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
I don't know anything about that, but I think the
Mercury they don't obviously they don't have an Asia Wilson
or a Jackie Young because Alissa Thomas is she's good,
but she's not like a She's no Asia Wilson said,
like she's she's a different type of superstar, Like she's

(10:04):
not the real go to score, you know.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
But like Alyssa Thomas, like she's just strong. Like the
more I've watched her, the more I'm like, she just
bullies her way everywhere, which I mean it works. Lebron
does that too. Lebron just bulldozes his way through people.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
We're not gonna put her in the same.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
I'm not saying that like they're the same. I'm just
saying that.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
They let's leave the goat out of this whatever.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
But I was thinking, Halloween's coming up, and I know
you're trying to protest not going out, but you don't
really care. But I think that we should be Asia
Wilson and BAM. Wouldn't that be such a good costume
for us? M Why Like I don't because I'm gonna

(10:55):
have a pink wig, and so Ajia Wilson had the
pink wig and her man is is BAM and like
I'm the go and Asia Wilson is the go. I
just think it'd be a really cute costume. What about
shark Boy and Love a Girl. That's a good one too.
Kelsey pitched that one.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
Let's take a few steps back real quick. You saying
you're the goat. That's kind of like false information you're
throwing out there.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
But anyways, and why because you think you're the goal? Okay,
so why can't I? So I'm not. I'm not the
greatest of all time in your life. That's basically what
you're saying. So what you're saying is that you don't
love me is basically what you're saying right now.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
Anyways, Yeah, Halloween costumes, Yeah, what you think?

Speaker 1 (11:43):
We'll take suggestions? Let us know, send me a DM
on Instagram. But I like the Asia Wilson in the BAM,
Like I have my A ones, my pink shoes, like
we will be comfortable, like I think we'd be recognizable,
but Shark Boy and lave A Girl would be fired too.
I don't really close your eyes, shut your mouth, dream

(12:05):
a dream and a dreamer arout dream dream dream, Dream
dream dream. You ever saw a shark boy and girl
that sounded like that?

Speaker 2 (12:14):
Songs from Shrek?

Speaker 1 (12:15):
No, that songs from Shark Boy and Girl.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
That song didn't wasn't on Shrek when they went to
the Lord Farquad when they went to go with Shrek
went to go never mind.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
No, I remember when they when they went to the
thing and nobody was there, and.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
Oh my god, but no, that's not that's not that song.
But I know exactly what you're talking about, like the
little cartoon, like the little Muppet characters. Oh my gosh,
what is that? What's that song? I sing that song again,
close your eyes, shut your mouth, dream a dreamer out
that dream dream. No, it's not it's not the song

(12:57):
because the song I'm singing was Shark Boy when he
was singing on the the Milk and Cookies River. But
I know exactly what you're talking about.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
That song was played on that Shrek movie. I'm telling
you it was it.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
It was it. I feel like we need to pull
it up and play it. Pull it up, pull up.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
We could do it after this doing all that right now.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
But no, I think I think Shark Boy and lave
a Girl would be really cute. I think Asian band
would be really cute. Someone commented on my TikTok Cosmo
and Wanda. But Cosmo and Wanda could be cool because
you have a green hat that you can wear, but
you wouldn't wear fairy wings. Huh. But then again, like

(13:48):
it also like we could be really good cowboys. I
could be the cowboy or cowgirl and you could be
the horse. But like, honestly, you picked Jasmin and Aladdin
last year, so I feel like I didn't.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
I didn't like pick it like you gave that that
was just an option.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
No, no, no, no, no no no. I would have
never suggested to be Jasmine Aladdin. If I was going
to suggest a Disney princess, I would have done Princess
Diana and Prince Levine. Okay, but a lot of was cute.
We killed it. We killed Aladdin and Jasmine last year.
We looked good.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
Nobody knows what about what if we do?

Speaker 1 (14:30):
If we do Cupid and keep its arrow.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
You delete those pictures for your rebrand.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
I didn't delete the pictures. They are still in my archives.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
The point of that brand. But anyways, the point of
my rebrand.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
Don't you like my style now?

Speaker 3 (14:46):
Not even you're not even doing that? No more so,
I am so why can't all my pictures be put
back up? That the ones that I want?

Speaker 1 (14:53):
That? I would love to have more pictures of you
on my page, but I just needed.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
To match my my what's the word your pace?

Speaker 1 (15:01):
Aesthetic?

Speaker 2 (15:02):
You have no aesthetic. You have your following, no aesthetic
on your on your page.

Speaker 1 (15:06):
My I do too. It's a curated aesthetic of my life.
You're just hating right now.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
I am an aesthetic, a big aesthetic in your life.
You are.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
You're the number.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
So that makes no sense what you're saying.

Speaker 3 (15:22):
So like, you literally prove my point every time we
talk about it, because you make no sense.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
No next topic, whatever, I don't know, is there anything
that you want to talk about? How do you feel
being back at Memmy's house? Because I've talked about it, I'm.

Speaker 3 (15:37):
Okay, that's fucking personal business. I don't want to talk
about personal fucking personal shit.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
Okay, enough enough with the cursing there's children. Oh my gosh, no,
speaking of children. So tonight we went to the me
and my mom, my dad, and then my nephew Chosen
went to the Schneppe Farms Pumpkin and Chili party or whatever.
Babe Chosen was trying to do the most. I think

(16:06):
he was hot because he was trying to take off
his shirt, but then he was trying to run around.
He was jumping on pumpkins. I was like, oh my god,
this kid is a menace, an absolute menace, I mean,
but he's also so stinking cute. He gives me baby fever,
he really does.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
He's not cute, he is cute.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
Like, I don't know how you can say that like that.
My nephews aren't cute. They're adorable in the little sweeties
and they love you. They sweat their uncle Dean bro.
It's kind of annoying. Not gonna lie. Actually, it's probably
just because you're a boy and like you're annoying like them. Yeah, okay,

(16:48):
am I losing you on this podcast? Okay, but I
want to tell you about this show before we on
the podcast. So I'm watching the show called Wayward and
and basically it's about these like troubled kids who are
trapped at this school and like the people are trying
to like make them be better humans. But it's kind

(17:09):
of crazy. I don't really understand like the point of
the show quite yet, but I'm excited about it. I'm like,
I think five episodes in and Abbot Elementary to U season,
I think five came out or whatever.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
Yeah, your show that you're watching didn't look good at.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
All, the Wayward one, but you weren't paying attention to it.
I actually thought it was gonna be scary y at first,
so I turned it off, but then I went back
to it and it's actually pretty decent.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
But are you gonna eat that food?

Speaker 1 (17:40):
Yeah, I'm gonna eat that food. I feel like it's
hard to find, like good soul food and Arizonas it's
not good. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:49):
Kadeven went to the soul food spot in Gilbert and
got some chicken. Oh and Ma says some. You got
some chicken and catfish and greens and mashed with her
in mac and cheese and some fries. But it just
didn't hit the spot. I feel like, Yeah, soul food's
hard to come by and it was expensive. Yeah, I
feel like because it is hard to come by, and

(18:10):
not very many people make it out here or like
there's not a lot of stores like that or anything
like that. At restaurants besides, like Lo Loos, they do,
they do hike it up. I like Lo Los. I
like Lo Loos, and their drinks are good too.

Speaker 2 (18:26):
I feel like when you grow up eating a certain
type of thing and you just can't. Everything's just not good. Yeah,
like you didn't grow up really eating what I used
to eat.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
I mean the first time that I ever had greens
was at your grandy's house.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
I know. So first time you looked at some yams
and thought they.

Speaker 1 (18:49):
Were carris to that is not how that happened.

Speaker 3 (18:53):
I've never had And everybody start laughing at everybody start
laughing at you.

Speaker 2 (18:59):
Why would you are these cars?

Speaker 1 (19:01):
Why would you just air out my business off this podcast? Bro?
That is so that is so messed up. Oh my god, carrots,
You're you're so dead wrong for that.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
They know. They still say something about that to.

Speaker 1 (19:15):
This day, because because they were cut up and they
looked like roasted carrots. Bro. Like, anytime I've ever had yams,
they're always mashed up. They always have, they always have
brown sugar on the top, and they always have a
marshmallows roasted toasted marshmallows on the top. Like who quarters

(19:35):
their freaking yams and puts them out to eat? Like
I guess, I guess I've I'm also black and I've
never seen that.

Speaker 2 (19:49):
Well, who do you know that that's black, that that
you've been around that cooks?

Speaker 1 (19:56):
No, I mean my auntie, she cooks.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
Cook I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (20:04):
Why you're you're on one today. Here's just kind of savage. Okay, Well,
I guess this podcast serves as a p s A.
Please let us know if you know where there's any
good sul food spots where Kadeeve can get his fixed,
because obviously things aren't cutting it out here.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
There's no point to even say that because there's none. Okay,
I've done my research.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
That's it. Okay, Well, we'll see challenge accepted. Bye.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
