Speaker 1 (00:00):
I think nurses are incredible people, special people to be
a nurse. Absolutely. In fact, don't you endorse a nursing
school Payton, what is it?
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Yeah, Alliant International University School of Nursing.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
Lion Alliot Allion, Yeah, yeah, yeah, because these nurses. Man.
My wife, you know, she had a hysterect me two
days ago, and I went to the hospital pick her
up yesterday, and the nurses from the day before experienced
with them, were amazing, And the nurse yesterday was amazing
that I saw. But I have to tell you something.
I have a little bit of guilt, and I wasn't
(00:30):
going to tell you guys this story. But then I
kind of wasn't going to tell you this story. I
was gonna tell you yesterday, but I said not to
because it wasn't over yet. I didn't know how I
was going to go. So when you go to the
hospital and they discharge you, it's usually a long process,
you know, like they okay, we're gonna discharge you, like
at nine, and you don't get out of there until noon, right,
So I wanted to get my work out of it yesterday, right,
(00:52):
So I'm you know, I got to take care of
my health too. You know, day mask to drop, they say,
put it on yourself before you put it on the
kid that's in a life or death situation. But yes, okay,
she had surgery, so you did. So I am like,
(01:12):
I don't want to go to the hospital and just
wait there. Plus her sister's there, and her sister's a
little bit on the chatty cathy side. So I was
going back and forth to the doctor or her doctor
on DM and I was like, she was able to
discharge Blake. I go, hey, if you could do it
a little bit later.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Oh you are you're serious?
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Now, I see what you almost didn't tell her.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Yeah, I don't want to tell you yesterday. So anyway,
so she goes, gotcha all right. So then I'm texting
Blake yesterday, Hey, what's the latest if you see the doctor?
He was like, dining a. She's I don't see the doctor.
I just wasn't charge me. I just want to get
out of here. She said that, yeah, I'm sure. So
I go to my workout. I get there my workout
at eleven and I text her eleven fifteen. I go
what's the latest and she's like having her from the doctor.
(01:54):
I go, well, soon as you're the doctor, you know,
I'll leave my workout. I'll go right to the hospital.
And she's like, well, my sister's here, and I'm I'm like, oh, yeah,
I know. She was like, my sister could bring out, No,
I want to bring you home. So anyway, I do
my workout and then I go to the hospital and
I get to like A twelve fifteen and a twelve fifteen.
The doctor's walking out of her room saying, ah, she
did great, she's doing awesome, and she's been discharged. I'm like, thanks,
(02:16):
perfect timing up top.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
So I mean, if you're blanking, you don't know, I
mean getting ready to go home and new and it's
not bad.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
That's there's her husband. There's her husband there ready to
go Prince Charming to take her out. So I get there,
got my workout. It's that way I could go home,
and I just been to the rest of the time
with the rest. Yeah. So uh, the discharger at twelve fifteen,
we don't leave there untill.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Two boo, I should have just happened the discharge.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
No discharger at nine. I gotta got my work out
and been there now and ready to go.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
Let me defend you on this working out thing before
you went there. If you went there and you had
to wait around two hours and you didn't get your
work out in, you would have been a mess at home.
You wouldn't thinking about like that's like somebody moving your
cheese a little bit, big time. You would have been
totally off the whole day. So I think you probably
did the right thing for the whole picture.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Okay. So the hospital it's on our on our Health
on Shay right, big huge hospital. It's also next to
the Victoria Piper Cancer Center. It's this massive, massive hospital
and they're remodeling it or doing something to it, so
they don't have you going in and the normal ge
you there, Kyle. You saw you don't go in the
normal way you go, And there's all kinds of different
ways to go in, and there's signs everywhere going walk
this way with arrows everywhere. So it's time to leave,
(03:29):
and the nurse puts Blake in a wheelchair and we're
going down and I have likes bag of stuff. I
have the basket of gifts, Kyle Broad and I have
a bunch of and I have two bouquets of flowers
people Broad and I'm carrying all these things out and
we're in the elevator in the wheelchair going down the elevator,
and then the nurse says, so, where'd you park? Will
wait for you? So she takes me out. And I've
(03:49):
been there already too. I've gone in and out of
that place ten times. And she takes me to a
place I have never been out of. It's a whole
new doorway. I'm like, what is this? She was a
where's your park? A parkty structure? She goes that one
right there? Like, no, she goes which one? So she
leaves Blake in a wheelchair in the hospital. We got
the sliding glass doors and we go outside and she
was like, where's your park? And I go, I think
I parked that way to the left. I go, it's
(04:10):
really right. She well, the valley's right there. I go,
I didn't valet. And we turn around and Blake is
lying on the floor on the side of the wheelchair,
on the floor, on her lying on the floor, and
I'm like, oh my god. And the nurse oh my god,
and run back and Blake's like, I felt a little lightheaded.
I didn't want to fall, so I got out of
the chair and I'm laying on the floor so I
(04:31):
don't pass out. Oh my god, what.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Scrap.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
If I would have just taken a second letter, I
could have got a picture to post to show you guys.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Hurt.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
Oh my god, but it was hurt, like she thought
she was going to pass the fall out of the chair.
She didn't want to fall out of the chair, so meanwhile,
what is your heart show? The nurse run parked and
it was like, such a bummer. I felt so bad.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Did your whole inter being explode when you?
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Yeah? I thought you. And there was a security guard there,
and the security guard like he ran to her at
the same time we did. I'm like, how come he
didn't see her far? But she just got out of
the chair and laid down. She's fine. Right then it's
pawing rain, and then I got to I go to
my car, which took forever to get to my car,
so much so that the nurse is calling me on
Blake's phone. Where are you I go? I parked far away, really,
(05:18):
because we went out this other exit. Every would have
gotten out there one exit. My car is right there. Rice.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
They didn't have you take because when I came I
went to the wrong building and they actually had me
take They have golf cart shuttles like moving people around
because the parking is so disastrous because of the construction.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
Well, no, because I get ignored by those people. Everybody
picks how many times people ride in the golf carts? Nothing? Nothing, Yeah,
it's I waved them down.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Hey, Kyle, you want to ride right to the room.
We're just gonna bring this golf cart right inside for you.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
So I get Blake home, I get her home, and
we put her in Kemp's room because our bedroom's upstairs.
They put her in kemps room. And she's feeling good,
you know, she's she's tired, she wants to go to sleep,
and you know, and now it's me right, Jake's at work,
so I'm like, okay, I'm in nurse mode. What do
you need? And then she's like it's like every little
things like can you make that noise? Unbelievable? People want
(06:18):
to take care of other people. She's like, can you
make me some electrolytes? Sure, no problem. Can I get
a straw? Why can't you drink it without a straw?
Like I brought it to her? She said this was
the tip of the ice perny for me one thing
got her flowers and my father in law got her flowers, right,
And I first I had to put the flowers in
(06:39):
a in a bowl of glass, whatever you put them in.
I put them in the plastic cup. We have a
whole laundry room full of vases, right, But I was like,
I just put this in your temper. They're gonna die
pretty soon anyway. So in the kitchen, she's not in
the kitchen, She's not gonna know. So she goes, she's
now in Camp's room. She goes, can you get the
flowers that Kyle and my dad got me and bring
them in here? Like? Why? Because they're so pretty? I
(07:02):
want to see them.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
I've been.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
Is not that far from the.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
Diget, and it's it's about steps are They're fine?
Speaker 1 (07:14):
I put them in a bowl, They're fine. Yeah. And
then and then she wants to watch the UFA basketball game. Right,
there's no TV capture. Our kids don't have TVs. So
she's like, I'm like, how do you plan to watching
the game? And she's like, on my phone, I guess.
And I was like, trying to be a good husband,
I go, well, if you could get to the living room,
I'd put it on there you go. My plan was,
(07:36):
I'm so far behind to my TV watching. I just
want to watch TV my shows. And she's like, if
you put it on in the living room, I can
probably walk there on the couch watch Like, really, I
think it's better on your phone and.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
Want to use that TV for you.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
I have to check yourself in the selfish thoughts you're having, right,
like at all.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
So then I go, let me receive if it's even
available on our team. I turn it on. It sure enough,
it's on our TV. And then I go, hey, I go,
it's on the TV. If you can make it here,
it's all yours. She can walk, so's she walks there
and she makes it there, and that's when she had
the other demands, can you make me some soup? You know? Point?
(08:19):
So she took a nap, right, she was taking a nap,
so I was safe to do my sauna, do the sauna,
cold plunge, hot tub, and I get I'm in my
underwear and I get in the hot tub and I
turn around and I see people at my front door.
I'm like, are you freaking kidding me? Who's at my
door right now, like, why are you at my door?
And they're just standing there, so I kind of like
(08:40):
wave like I'm not moving if you're an Amazon person whatever.
But then I see a little person like a child
with them. I'm like, oh, that must be somebody doing
something nice for Blake. So I get out of the
hot tub, I jump in the cold plunger really quick,
and I shower and I and I walk to the
front door and it's just a nice big thing of
soup that someone made for Blake. It was anyway she
(09:01):
wanted the super watching. I made her soup, so you
saw I was there. I made her the soup and
then and then I checked in on her this morning.
She was fine, just a hero. It every way a
light nursing Give him some love.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
International University School of Nursing. Yeah, I mean you might
want to get an actual nurse to just come check
on her.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
While you're actually.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
Yeah, maybe they wouldn't mind getting straw.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
I want to give some major love to nurses and
your profession, and I think you guys are incredible
