And with that, Jmack with the News, turn on the news.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
This is the Herd Line News.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
So I tease this a little bit last hour when
I mentioned what about the Raiders in terms of trading up,
we'll colin. The Raiders had the thirteenth pick and Thursday's draft.
Many expect them to take a quarterback, right. They got
Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell currently on the roster. But
according to GM Tom t Leasco, who one of us knows,
the Vegas is prepared for every scenario.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
Newsflash.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
GM says he's opening trading up, moving back, picking at a spot,
Like everybody always says the same thing. So yeah, like
we have a plan right now to go up if
we have to and be aggressive with it. We've got
a plan if we stick and pick obviously, and we've
got a plan to go back if it's within a
certain range. We're drafting for the future too, so you know,
position wise in this team, he's a help a little

(01:36):
bit everywhere. So I don't think any positions precluded for
being drafted this year.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Now, what was the key thing he said? Then we
will go back within a certain range. That's the key
of all the things he said. Why oh Nicks Pennix,
He's not going back to twenty three. He won't get him.
And it's thirteen to seventeen or eighty. People don't want

(02:01):
to draft after the Rams. So if you look at
them at thirteen, I think they would move to the
Bengals spot at eighteen because the feeling in the league
is the Rams will go get a quarterback. Stafford's got
this year and next. Stafford's got two great years.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
Allow sixteen, Seattle, you don't think they need a quarterback,
you're gonna drop below.

Speaker 5 (02:20):
That's a roll of the dice.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
It is, but you'd still have one of them left. Okay,
So the feeling is if you're thirteen. When Tom said
we'll move back within a certain range, my take is
that range is thirteen to eighteen to get a second
round pick.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
So if somebody smart put this out there, I was
going to kind of pitch it for tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (02:39):
But we're talking.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
You mentioned Pennison, Knicks, somebody broke down in the last
fourteen years quarterbacks age going in the first round, and
all of the older quarterbacks we're talking about, Brandon Whedon,
Kenny Pickett, Tannehill, Burrow was the one winner, Carson Wentz,
Kristin Ponder, ej Manuel, Jake Locker like, there's a track
record of older quarterbacks, experience college quarterbacks who put up

(03:05):
good numbers coming to the pros and being not good.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Call it.

Speaker 5 (03:10):
That's the only caution with Nix.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
And Pennox is hey, were these guys dominating college because
they're twenty three years old going up against eighteen, nineteen.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Year old Certainly an argument, Yeah, I like both, certainly
a fair argument. We talked about this yesterday There's also
a recent history is that the quarterback that has great
trades but needs a lot of refinement has hit Josh Allen, Lamar,
Patrick Mahomes, Jordan love that the guy you just draft talent,
figure out the rest later, but get the talented guy

(03:41):
in the room. That would be Drake May who doesn't
have the refined sort of accuracy and consistency, but he's big,
can move and has an arm.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
But again, like Zach the Wilson kind of fell into
that Josh Allen, like he's got the trades, he's toolsy, crazy,
arm mobile, really.

Speaker 5 (04:00):
Have the stats.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Well, who did he beat in college?

Speaker 3 (04:02):
No?

Speaker 5 (04:02):
Who did Josh Allen beat in college?

Speaker 6 (04:04):
Well?

Speaker 1 (04:04):
He had Wyoming around him. BYU's got NFL players, byus
an underrated program. Kind they've always got NFL old line
then and Fred Warner, where did he go? Best linebacker
in football? B YU did he really?

Speaker 6 (04:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (04:18):
D y U has got a good program.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
You learned something new every day that has a great
nugget there. Hopefully you can use it on Jeopardy. Next up,
speaking of quarterbacks, Michael Pennocks Junior, one of the top
five quarterback prospects Faux Show, has torn his ACL twice
in a letter to GM's which was I guess gotten
by or attained by the player's tribute?

Speaker 5 (04:38):
Pennick says he's cut from the same.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Fabric as former NFL stars who have come back from
strong from the same injury, including Thomas Davis and Frank Gore.
Diana Rassini reported yesterday Pennix sys the name GMS have
told me is the best kept secret in the draft.
I mean, it's weird. I can see him going top sixteen.
I could see him falling out of.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
I do think Seattle and Miami feel like the right
landing spot.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
But you can also you would not be stunned if
he fall at first round ends and he's still on
the board.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
I kind of would be Really throws a pretty your
ball than Dak age and injuries. Dak's been hurt before.
Better throws a better ball.

Speaker 5 (05:21):
But Dak went third round.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
I should fourth, fourth, Sorry, So he throws a better
ball than Dak Pettic third round. The Crab are not
going third one.

Speaker 5 (05:29):
That's the problem here.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Let me tell you a guy that's underrated, and I
heard this yesterday from somebody. Brian Thomas, the receiver for
LSU wait under or over? How about this? Either the
Steelers or the Rams take him at eighteen or nineteen.

Speaker 5 (05:49):
That seems about his range. Yeah, so I thought you
didn't like him yesterday.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
I didn't say I didn't like him. I said, but
he's the second best Verona team. You you were taking
a lot of people have him up in ten twelve. No, no,
I don't know, but we have seen the receivers that
develop the guys that aren't as great in college. I'm
just gonna say, hold on, I'm starting dk metcalf was
the second best receiver all missed. My staff just told
me aj Brown was number one. So I'm not saying

(06:14):
he's pay But there are rumors the Steelers like Brian Thomas, Yeah,
they need a receiver. They ship Deontay Johnson. Well, there's
there's concerns with the Rams that Pooka is the new
number one and Cooper cup can struggle with help. They
want a receiver.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
Well, the other thing is the Steelers historically have drafted
receivers in mid rounds and totally dominated. Like the history
there is rich would they take one in the first
round when like Brian Thomas, good.

Speaker 5 (06:40):
But could you get a third rounder.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
I just look at Tank Dell and Pooka Okoua last
year and it's like, unless I'm getting the best of.

Speaker 5 (06:46):
The best, like I might just wait on a receiver,
might get it.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Final story, it's kind of sort of breaking here in
the last thirty minutes. So Clippers MAVs is tonight. I
know you're fired up. I am locked and loaded on
the MAVs. But kowh who was a no show in
Game one, the big report for Gay one is he
had not done contact drills.

Speaker 5 (07:04):
Well.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Today, Kawhi Leonard was videotaped at practice for the paper clips.

Speaker 5 (07:10):
Now it's just a walk through and we don't know.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
If there was any contact, but Kawhi at practice moved
the line four to five points at some sports books
just from seeing Kawhi Leonard on the court.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
Colin I will be stunned if he plays.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
He hasn't played since March thirty first, and with a
game in hand, the idea that the Clippers would trot
him out there with this history, injury or history, I
cannot imagine Kawhi I think, yeah, and that's a big
part of it.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
It's great winning Game one, just there's no reason to.

Speaker 5 (07:38):
Play rest him. You got days in between.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
But I'm stunning these people are betting on the paper
clips to win this game.

Speaker 5 (07:43):
I'm just saying, you never want to go over. Were
nothing certain MAVs to me in this one?

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Well, let's not go with certain.

Speaker 5 (07:52):
There's nothing certain. Yeah, we know that. I mean, you know,
maybe Luca has another bad game.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
I don't see it, but I feel like, who who's
a bigger I say this, and some buffoon's gonna clip it.
Who's a better bigger lock Tonight, Sons or Maps?

Speaker 1 (08:07):
Maps? I mean, Sons have some advantages on size that
Phoenix can't overcome. Luca playing poorly again is very rare.
They weren't even ready to play. I mean, Dallas was
not ready to play. They'll be ready to play.

Speaker 5 (08:25):
I think both those games. First half is just a
phenomenal betting in Dallas.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
First half.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
Sixers lose Game one, the eight first half, Lakers lose
Game one, win first half. Like the zigzag theory works,
be careful, full game, but first half.

Speaker 5 (08:39):
Field feels good. I'm very excited for today. Listen NBA well.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
Hashtag blest, hashtag bless? Can I say that or your
daughter would know what I'm talking.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
About hashtag bleust is what the kids.

Speaker 5 (08:50):
Say, right exactly. Your daughter's a kid.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
I'm hashtag crushing it. What is that?

Speaker 5 (08:56):
I don't think that's the thing.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
Okay, well I just made it a thing. J Mack
with the News.

Speaker 7 (09:02):
Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping by The
Herd Line News one more heard. The Herd streams twenty
four hours a day, seven days a week within the
iHeartRadio app. Search Herd to listen live or on demand
whenever you like.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
All right, he is Ruddy Albert Breer Monday Morning Quarterback.
This is a really fun week for us. Okay, so
we saw this yesterday. You're very contact, great contacts to
the league, but New England specifically, and I said, I
think you can take two paths on this, and I'm
okay with both, one of them being we're not Cloe
or Carolina as a roster. None of these quarterbacks can

(09:40):
succeed with this group of people. Let's get the roster
figured out and then we'll go at a free agent quarterback.
When I heard that story, obviously it was leaked to people,
but I do think New England's going to trade out
am I Gullible or do you think so too. Out
of three.

Speaker 8 (09:56):
I think they want to have the full gamut of
information in front of them them and my understanding is
they've told teams that they are going to listen to
offers all the way up until when they're on the clock,
so they're operating as if they would be trading the pick. Ultimately,
I don't think they will. Ultimately, I think they are
going to sit there and take a quarterback at three.

(10:16):
I think one thing that's you know, I've talked about
for the last month or so that's also a possibility
is doing what Arizona did last year, where you trade
down and then back up. The Cardinals obviously benefited them
in a very big way, going from three down to eleven,
then back up to six to draft Paris Johnson. They
wind up in a position now where they've got two

(10:37):
first round picks this year as a result of it,
and I believe it's like five or six picks in
the top one hundred. I could see the Patriots trying
to do something like that ultimately, I think because it's
for a quarterback, it'd be a little bit more complicated,
and I think they probably will stick there. My guess
is they wind up with Drake May third overall on
Thursday night.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
Yeah, it does feel like because Chaka's got two picks
in the first round, but they have Caleb Williams Arizona.
Does they have Kyler Murray. It does feel like Minnesota
is moving up, doesn't it? To some point?

Speaker 8 (11:11):
Now?

Speaker 1 (11:11):
It may not be to three, Yes, it could be
to five. Minnesota didn't get that second first to me
because their offense is set outside of quarterback. Are they
the most likely to move up?

Speaker 5 (11:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (11:24):
I think they absolutely are, you know, and I my
understanding is over the last few days they've gotten a
little bit more aggressive and calling around. They've been passive
before that. But I mean, look, the smoking gun is
out there. I mean, they had spoken with the Texans
about that trade during the combine, and that trade was
contingent on them losing Kirk Cousins. That trade does not

(11:44):
happen if they don't lose Kirk Cousins. So what does
that tell you? That tells you that it's very quarterback
specific and so so, Yeah, I think that the likelihood
is that they are the team that winds up moving up.
I would guess right now would be for JJ McCarthy,
what complicates it a little bits. You know, you're talking
parameters with Arizona, You're talking parameters with the Chargers. So

(12:07):
much of it is dependent on what happens in front
of in front of these teams. And so you know,
where does New England do it three? Which one do
they take? How does that change the price? Do the
Cardinals stick at four and take Marvin Harrison? Do they
move off off of that? And then how open to
the Chargers? And I do think the Chargers are going
to be open to moving the pick, But how open
to the Chargers moving the pick if the Cardinals decide

(12:28):
to stick. It's just there's a lot of like I
would say things, there are a lot of contingencies you
have to work through or you're talking about dealing these
picks until we have certainly what happens at two and
then three with the quarterbacks almost certainly going in those
two spots.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
Okay, So Denver gets Zach Wilson to me. My takeaway
is Sean may like bow knicks, but he may like
to kt it two lane almost as much, and he's
just not comfortable at twelve drafting panics or bow knicks,
and so he's going to have an emergent agency plan
with Zach. He's not gonna get fired if they're seven

(13:03):
and ten. That's what it feels like to me. That
signified they're not taking a quarterback there, or they're gonna
move down seven or eight spots.

Speaker 8 (13:13):
Well, you can look at this two ways, Colin, Like
I think the first way you can look at it
is like I do think Sean has some regret over
what happened in twenty seventeen and allowing for the Chiefs
to jump him to get Mahomes. And you and I
both know how much he loved Mahomes in twenty seventeen,
and so there's that like. And so they went to
ann Arbor and they worked out JJ McCarthy. Sean was

(13:35):
there for that. Significant resources poured in to going and
studying McCarthy. So if he loves McCarthy like he loved Mahomes,
I wouldn't rule out the idea they could move up.
They have investigated the price for moving up. I am
with you though, and that Sean also thinks at the
same time, where he might love one guy, he probably

(13:55):
thinks he can make it work with a lot of guys,
and so can he work make it work with Knicks,
Can he make it work with Pennix? Can he make
it work with Spencer Rattler in the third round, or
like you said, maybe Michael Pratt on day three. I'm
sure to varying degrees, he believes those things. What complicates it,
I think is the lack of a second round pick.
In other words, I think there's a scenario where a

(14:16):
few of them you could say, we can get bo
Nicks in round two. Well, they don't have a second
round pick. And if somebody is coming up to twelve,
what are they coming up for? Probably not one of
the quarterbacks at that point, unless you're looking to jump
the Raiders for Pennix. So it almost have to be
for a receiver if one of the top three receivers falls.
So something has to happen for the Broncos to have

(14:38):
for the Broncos have a suitor that's willing to come
up and pay something real to come up and get
the twelve pick. If that doesn't happen, then you're stuck there.
And do you say, Okay, well we're not going to
get bow Knicks in round two, so let's just take
him in round one. Twelfth would be really rich for him,
but he is a stylistic fit for what Denver does.
It'll be just interesting to see how they handle all

(14:59):
of that because because they've explored both moving up and
moving down, and in a moved down scenario, I think
bon Nick's probably becomes more likely.

Speaker 1 (15:06):
So we got into this discussion yesterday. There's an argument
to be made if you see a guy with talent
and he's not real refined, just get him Lamar Mahomes,
Josh Allen, Jordan Love, Yep, Drake May of all these guys,
the one where like, yeah, I love the I like
the size, he's raw. Recent history is just go get

(15:31):
the better traits guy and figure it out. And that's
my that is to me what guys are struggling with that.
Jayden is more ready to play, but Drake sealing is higher.
Are you hearing that?

Speaker 8 (15:45):
Yeah, So Drake had a great twenty twenty two. In fact,
like Drake's college trajectory isn't unlike Josh Herbert Josh Allen
or Justin Herbert Josh Allen, like where those guys were great,
they're second to last year in school and then maybe
leveled off a little bit there last year because there
was less around him. Same sort of thing happened with
Drake May. So you know, I think a lot of

(16:07):
it comes down to how much you think you can
fix because he is raw. He did not play much
as a freshman, and even his senior year in high
school was bastardized because that was the COVID year. So
he's lost, you know, a lot of opportunity to play
football over the last four years. So a lot of
it's going to be based on your own confidence and

(16:27):
your ability to kind of get him going and get
him more he needs being Listening to evaluators talk about him,
call him, it's a lot of it sounds identical to
what you heard people saying about Josh Allen six years ago,
which was if you can fix his lower half, he's
going to become a more accurate pastor. And you cannot
teach the power in his arm, and you cannot teach

(16:48):
his athleticism. I'm not saying he's Josh Allen. He's maybe
a step down in each category, but he's made up
of the right stuff and he has the tools to
get there and say you're in the AFC right. So
over the next ten years, you're dealing with Josh Allen,
you're dealing with Joe Burrow obviously, Patrick Mahomes, justin Herbert
Lamar Jackson, and you're gonna have to beat three of

(17:10):
these teams in succession just to make it to the
super Bowl. Like if you're looking at JJ mccarthyre you're
like looking at Michael Pennix, or you're looking at bow Nicks.
Can you envision a scenario where that guy can get
you there. It's harder to do that than it is
with a guy who's got the tools that trait may
brings to the table.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
Albert Breer Monday Morning Quarterback. Can't wait. Good seeing you, Bud,
all right, Thanks Corn, you bet, Brian Kelly. Albert Breer
bo stop by today. J Mack, I'm almost beside myself
with with with enthusiasm and passion for these playoff games
in the draft. My wife yesterday said, I told her,
I said, I think this weekend coming up is the

(17:49):
best non football weekend of the year draft and like
playoff series getting into game three, Game four, Game five,
it's the best non Labor day to February fifteenth week
end of the year for viewing. Am I wrong?

Speaker 5 (18:05):
You're not wrong? Also, I just looked this up. So
first round of the draft is Thursday.

Speaker 3 (18:09):
Yeah, Knicks at Sixers, Nuggets at Lakers.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
Well, Sixers are going to win that game. Yeah, I
would agree.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
I'm surprised the line is only four and a half.
I went there right after the game. By the way,
Nuggets are favorite in LA. But I'm just saying, like, that's.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
A sport, one of the loads, one of the No,
it's not.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
Draft and too well you could truss in the cat
do you have one TV?

Speaker 1 (18:32):
No?

Speaker 5 (18:33):
No, but it's just a lot happened. I mean, trades
and analysis.

Speaker 1 (18:36):
Will all be on the draft, but I'll have my
little fubo. Then the Sixers will win Game three in Philly.
So if you're if you will they cover, that's all
that matters. What what's the line?

Speaker 5 (18:46):
So it's four and a half. I'm looking at all spreads.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
I would take Philadelphia to win comfortably. Yeah, double digits,
smash spot. Yeah that eight ten point win.

Speaker 5 (18:55):
Nicks are happy.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
What's the other Yeah, Nick's gotta feel great.

Speaker 3 (18:58):
And angry Sixers Uh dedverd minus one and a half.

Speaker 5 (19:02):
You just got to wonder the mindset.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
Of the I think I think the I think Denver's
going to go in and see the Lakers. Well, don't
roll over.

Speaker 5 (19:08):
I mean you don't play sports, so you don't know.
But after you stuff for a tough loss, bouncing back
can be difficult. Just that that's a joke for the audience.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
But yeah, like listen, Lebron's not gonna roll over. You'll
probably have like thirty five, you know, eight and seven.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
D Low will revert back to his Nuggets form and go.

Speaker 5 (19:30):
But you've got to remember, role players at home are
way better.

Speaker 3 (19:32):
Remember Nick Batoom for the Sixers at home against a
heat like twenty points.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
That's a great that's a great point. NBA people will
tell you this. Role players in the playoffs at home
are different. Stars are good. A d last night was
a monster. That was probably the second best game I've
seen him play this year. Well, the first game, first.

Speaker 5 (19:48):
Half, he was not great.

Speaker 1 (19:50):
In the second half when you're carrying Ruie Ruey had
three points.

Speaker 5 (19:55):
Yeah, not good.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
I just you know, Tobias Harris, he's a punching bag.
He's got terrible Hey, he's gonna drop like twenty at home.

Speaker 5 (20:04):
Game three, at least twenty.

Speaker 1 (20:06):
Very solid. Number three starter had a rough opening.

Speaker 5 (20:09):
Game really rough couple stop it, but well.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
All right, uh back in a second live in La
the Herd.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays

talent on it.

Speaker 6 (20:44):

life experiences loaded with teachable moments. Listen to Up on
Game with Me LeVar Arrington, TJ. Hutschman, Zada, and Plexico
Burrs on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you

Speaker 1 (21:04):
All right, welcome back, you know, j MC. I don't
think we've played magic eight ball in a while. When's
the last time we played magic eight balls? Been some time?
The eight ball gives and sees all and so with
the NFL Draft coming up, we're gonna do a little magic.
Everybody had a magic eight ball as a kid, I
kept mine. Are you ready to go?

Speaker 2 (21:21):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (21:21):
Yeah, all right, here we go.

Speaker 3 (21:24):
Will the Patriots trade the third overall pick.

Speaker 1 (21:29):
The signs point to yes. The Patriots will very weak
roster outside of Carolina, maybe the weakest by the way,
they whiffed the last time they went with a quarterback
in the first round, so they may be a little
shy on getting the third best quarterback in this draft
with a rookie defensive head coach.

Speaker 5 (21:49):
All right, what did the magic eight balls say?

Speaker 3 (21:50):
Will Drake May get drafted before Jade and Daniels?

Speaker 1 (21:54):
My sources say no, Jaden's more productive in college, so
the commander's coordinator has worked with highly mobile quarterbacks, which
Jaden Daniels is He's ready to play Arizona State LSU.
He is ready to play, whereas Drake May is viewed
as a higher ceiling potentially but needs refinement.

Speaker 3 (22:17):
Okay, we'll at least six quarterbacks be drafted in the
first round.

Speaker 1 (22:22):
Uh, don't count on it. Do not count on it.
There's a lot of talk about Michael Pennock's sliding to
the second round because of the injury history, and there's
a lot of talk about you know only one draft
has featured six quarterbacks in the first round. That was
nineteen eighty three.

Speaker 5 (22:42):
That was the Marino Ken O'Brien game.

Speaker 3 (22:45):
All right, Next up, will bot Nicks get drafted before
Michael Pennock's magic eight ball.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
The signs point d yes, Sean Payton likes him, The
Raiders like him. They're not sure. Twelve or thirteen are
the He takes care of the football. He's got a
cleaner injury history than Michael Pennix. That freaks people out.
So I would say bone Necks doesn't throw the deep
ball of Penix. That's clear, but.

Speaker 5 (23:12):
Yes, that's a key ball.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
Will at least three receivers get picked in the top ten?

Speaker 1 (23:20):
Outlook is not good. First of all, you have an
elite tackle, you have multiple quarterbacks, you have two ellege
edge rushers, you have the best tight end coming out
of college. And then you have several O line teams
in like eleven, twelve, thirteen is everybody's ta Rama Dunzai

(23:43):
is going to not be a top ten pissick.

Speaker 5 (23:47):
I'm sorry, Jets.

Speaker 3 (23:48):
If Roma Dunze's on the board, you have to take him,
please over an offensive lineman.

Speaker 5 (23:52):
Okay, well, ja J ablecarth you get drafted in the
top five.

Speaker 1 (23:57):
The eight ball says no. The eight ball is very
accurate on Michigan players. There's again elite neighbors Joe alt, Brock, Bauers,
Dallas Turner. He is viewed as somebody that needs to
come in, like Drake may probably sit initially. These teams
at the top want a starter. Tennessee wants to starter,

(24:18):
Atlanta wants the starter, The Jets want to starter.

Speaker 3 (24:22):
Will Roma Dunza get drafted before Molak neighbors.

Speaker 1 (24:27):
Outlook is not so good. A Dunzae is not as elusive.
Neighbors is seen as a home run hitter. It's an
OBJ move, and so when you draft a receiver at
that high, you want a home run hitter, and a
Dunzae is just considered a highly polished, very mature, will
be productive wide receiver. I could see Roma Dunze falling

(24:49):
to fifteen. People talk about who's gonna fall, and that's
not a knock on him, but I could see him
falling and Brian Thomas getting drafted much closer than people.
I could see Roma Dunze going to fifteen, Brian Thomas
to seventeen eighteen that's crazy.

Speaker 3 (25:05):
All right, Will the Jets draft a quarterback at any
point in the draft?

Speaker 1 (25:11):
Ask again later, Just just keep listen. Here's why there's
only really they only have seven picks, and they've got
some real needs on the old line and at tight end,
so it'd be nice to get a quarterback. But Aaron
has said multiple times I got at least two years left.
So my guess is only seven picks. They want to

(25:36):
get a left tackle, another receiver, a tight end, probably
another interior offensive lineman. I would say, another linebacker.

Speaker 5 (25:48):
Give me Sam.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
And by the way, by the fifth round, you're running
out of quarterback.

Speaker 5 (25:52):
I want a quarterback I can root for over.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
You know, because here I want a quarterback that wins.

Speaker 3 (25:56):
Sam Hartman wins baby. All right, dad, Well, the foy
nine Ers trade Brandon I before the draft or during the.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
Draft considered, but my sources say no, with brought pretty
you want all the elements you can have. His production's
hard to replace. He led the Niners in receptions and
receiving touchdowns. He's an over the top piece. Debo's not
necessarily an over the top piece. So they've got their

(26:21):
running back, their tight end, their Swiss army knife. They
don't have a home run hitter over the top, and
he's that, and so I think they would take like
a first round, third round if they got what they wanted.
But my guess is they'll they'll stay with their home
run hitter.

Speaker 5 (26:36):
Okay, Well, the Vikings trade into the top ten.

Speaker 1 (26:40):
Most likely, They've got two first round picks, and they
went and got that second pick for a reason. They
also they don't need anything offensively outside of a quarterback.
They literally have a furnished apartment offensively, and I would
say defensively, everybody needs another edge rusher. But I think
they made really nice free agent moves, kind of be
B plus moves. I think the roster is ready to go.

(27:03):
They need a quarterback who doesn't have to necessarily play
because of Sam Donald. So I think that's the shot.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
All right, Well, the Rams drafted quarterback in the first round.

Speaker 1 (27:13):
Don't count on it because they need an edge rusher
alongside Young and Kobe Turner. They got to get another
edge rusher that was kind of the missing piece last year.
They also lost Aaron Donald, so they are strongly considering
getting another interior alignment, though I I'm not sure they
do that in the first but that would be a luxury.

(27:34):
But again, if Brian Thomas is taken, if both defensive
tackles are taken, I could see them doing it, but
I think it's more of a long shot.

Speaker 5 (27:45):
Will the Chargers draft a wide receiver in the first round?

Speaker 1 (27:49):
Not so good. They want to get physical also first
round wide receivers a lot of hitting, a lot of
misses by the Chargers last year. Quintin Johnson. Want to
get more physical. I think they are going to try
to move down and get one of those offensive tackles.
The kid from Oregon State is so Jim Harbaugh. I
do not see them staying at five. And I also

(28:11):
think if you want to change the culture and the physicality,
you're not gonna do it with a perimeter player. So
they need a corner, they need a receiver. But you
can get speed anywhere in this draft. Anywhere.

Speaker 3 (28:21):
And finally, will the Cowboys draft a quarterback at any
point in the draft?

Speaker 1 (28:25):
Hold on, it's fuzzy, oh signs point es spicy dak
is going to be the second highest cap hit in
the league. Now. They only have seven draft picks, but
they have a star receiver. They have an edge rusher,

(28:46):
good corners. There's an argument to be made outside of
a great interior defensive tackle, what do they have to
have in Dallas, I'd say a defensive tackle. Everybody needs
another corner. They need an insurance policy on Dak Prescott's

(29:08):
massive contract. So that's where we are. You know what,
I think, I'm not as big a fan on Rattler,
the quarterback Oklahoma South Carolina kid. He's got a little
Jay Cutler for me, a little too loose for me too.
Drew Locke the kid at Tulane, Pratt is going to
be the one to keep your eye on. Good makeup,
tough childhood, He's gone through some things, you know, he's
tough kid. Four year starter, played very well in a

(29:32):
couple of big games against better teams like USC. Played
very well in some of these big games when they
stepped up competition. So and you like Sam Harmon Notre Dame.
Who I just thinks you.

Speaker 5 (29:43):
Know a guy again.

Speaker 3 (29:45):
At this time last year or two years ago, what
were people saying about Brock Purdy coming out? Oh, he's
just a guy. Couldn't win at Iowa State by the way, they.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
Went to the perfect spot. He goes to.

Speaker 9 (29:56):
Carolina right now, Sam Harbin could go to the perfect spot.
What would the perfect spot Somebody who's into San Francisco,
mold Kansas City, I don't know, and sit behind mahomes
for four years, that's a perfect spot.

Speaker 3 (30:07):
Well, guys get hurt all the time. I mean, listen,
things happen, man. Sometimes you need to catch a break.
Bryce Young did not catch any breaks last year.

Speaker 5 (30:15):
None, CJ. Stroud, everything broke his way. Now he gets
Stefan Diggs.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
Like, if you're Carolina, the only thing you have to discover.
I mean, this is job security. Can Bryce play? Go
get Brandon Ayuk? Well, also you need to protect him.
Their line was awful last You're one of the worst
in the league. It's funny how things work out in
the end.

Speaker 3 (30:35):
When Jack was drafted, nobody's like that could be the
guide to a supplant Tony Romo.

Speaker 5 (30:39):
Nobody thought that.

Speaker 3 (30:41):
Like, there's just so much stuff that that's out of
our control.

Speaker 9 (30:44):
Rule.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
That's why, I mean we said this yesterday. One of
these quarterbacks is going to be a star, two will
be effective, and three will not get an extension.

Speaker 5 (30:53):
And that's in the first round. Okay, so you look
at it later. Round guys, and it's like, who knows.

Speaker 3 (30:59):
That's the beauty of this, because Colin, I know, people
like to think everybody, come on, the reporters don't.

Speaker 5 (31:03):
Nobody knows, not even the teams. They don't know when
they're drafting guys, is a home runner up?

Speaker 1 (31:08):
They know. I can tell I'm getting close to the
draft because I text my GM buddies. They don't text
me back anymore. They text me all the time, and
on the minutes draft week, I could ask this sort
of uh, no, nothing question. What's your favorite ice cream?

Speaker 5 (31:24):
Silent zero, dark thirty? That's the thing, right, you know?
They yeah, total silence.

Speaker 1 (31:28):
Total silent. Nobody want And I'm not even asking, like like, uh,
you know what you hearing? Yeah, I don't never ask that,
But hey, what do you make of this? This?

Speaker 9 (31:36):
This?

Speaker 1 (31:36):
This, this? So? This is the best time of the
year this weekend. Do yourself a favor, get a good
workout in, and then go home, crack open a cold
one and sit and enjoy TV. I know people say
TV sitting around I think it's great for you keeps
me fresh up here.

Speaker 5 (31:52):
Yeah, so a cold one. I thought you were like,
what was it? Whiskey? And soda or bourbon.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
Hey, I that's the hard stuff. This this this weekend.
Now tonight I may go out. I am strongly considering
lubrication one for the Mavericks Clippers game. I'm very excited
for that game. Okay, very I think I'm gonna bet
Dallas first half.

Speaker 5 (32:14):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (32:16):
Call my guy in the desert, Kyrie Irving. I'm not
going to get into him, but I just think. I
think as a team, Dallas has one problem though. They
got about two guys on the floor at any one
time that can't score.

Speaker 5 (32:25):
Well that you go home.

Speaker 3 (32:27):
Now they're not home for game two, but you get
the role players chipping in, so when they're not, Luken
needs to.

Speaker 5 (32:32):
Go for forty.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
Very possible.

Speaker 3 (32:35):
I'm Michael Porter Junior. Last night, I couldn't miss man
when you have a twenty seven.

Speaker 1 (32:38):
No, you get him in the corner. He's got great range. Yeah,
I mean when he's here, and he is often their
fourth best player.

Speaker 5 (32:45):
Maybe fifth. Aaron Gordon's good KCP. His defense on lebron
last night was good case p what a gamer. Okay,
everybody won the chip with the Lakers in the bubble.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
No, he wins a lot of he's on a lot
of good teams. Like me, there's a problem. Yeah, that's
not how I saw it.
