Speaker 2 (00:22):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Welcome back. So I was saying this earlier that the
NBA most of its stars have been in big cities.
The Celtics, the Lakers, Miami Heat had become a brand.
The Knicks have been irrelevant for the last twenty years plus.
I actually think right now the NBA desperately needs the
New York Knicks, not just Jalen Brunson, but it's almost

(00:46):
the brand. They got a great rating the other night.
Because you look at some of these series in Minnesota
and Okay, see in Denver. They're not big brands. You know,
Milwaukee's gone, Indiana could be good. Cleveland not really a
brand without lebron Chris Brussard joining US live, bru, I
want to go to Denver and Minnesota. It took Jordan

(01:07):
a long time. He went to college for a couple
of years he met the Pistons dynasty and the Celtics dynasty,
then they ad he got pipping, then he broke through.
So Anthony Edwards doesn't have to win a title this year.
But to be the face of the league, you have
to have a very unique game, a dynamic game, and
you gotta win titles. That's why Barkley was great, but

(01:29):
never the face of the league. You gotta win big.
Is Minnesota championship level or you know, generally its steps,
but I don't know. I watched him against Denver and
I'm like, well, Aunt looked like easily the best player
on the floor.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
To me, Yeah, I do think their championship level.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
I actually picked them to win this series against Denver.
I picked them in seven. Now I'm thinking they might
be to get rid of him in six. But they
have everything they need Colin to win this series. And
I'm not completely riding off the Nuggets. I respect Jokic, Murray,
Michael Malone, all these guys to really make this thing
a fight. But look, they've got the size to make

(02:08):
it tough on Jokic and go Bear Karl Anthony Towns
both are seven footers. Then nas reed, and I'm telling you.
One of the most surprising things to me Saturday night
was seeing how hard Jokic had to work. He played
great thirty two to nine and eight, but man, he
had to work hard. The Lakers series, he controlled every

(02:29):
minute of the game that he was on the floor,
even when he was scoring, he was controlling it. This game,
I didn't feel like he controlled at all. They made
it tough on him. So they've got the size, They've
got the one superstar and Anthony Edwards that when all
else fails can take over and seems to rise.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
To the occasion. And he's a team guy.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
They got experience in Go Beart and Michael Mike Conley.
They got two coaches Chris Finch and Michael Nory who
were on the Nuggets staff with Jokic, and so they
know his game so and they played the best defense
in the league. So I actually do think they can win,
not only this series. But look, usually we would say
a team this young can't win it, but look at

(03:10):
everybody else. Dallas is fairly young because of Luca Oksee
obviously is young. Boston is experienced, but young, like they.

Speaker 5 (03:22):
Got a shot.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
Yeah, you have a good feel of the heartbeat of
the Knicks. I thought Philadelphia would win the series, but
I did think it was one of those series, maybe
like Denver Minnesota, where you watch a couple of games
and you're like, oh, no, New York's gonna win the series.
It's an effort series, it's a hustle series. They're better late.
What do you make against them? You know, you can
make the argument that they spent a lot of energy emotional,

(03:44):
physical against Sixers, and they could come in flat early
in the series against Indiana. What's your guests here?

Speaker 3 (03:51):
Now?

Speaker 4 (03:52):
I like the Knicks to win this one. I picked
them against Philly and seven. I got them in six
against Indiana. I think they're the better team. I think
Philly healthy was the better team than the Knicks. But
like you said, the Knicks did have advantages in heart.
I think both are good coaches, Thibodeaux and Nick Nurse,
but they obviously a well coached team, and they're hustle

(04:14):
at heart. I think was advantage for the Knicks in
this one. It's gonna be a test of wills. The
Knicks want to play a little slower right half court
and let Brunson do his thing, and the Pacers want
to run So the quick question is can the Pacers
rebound with the Knicks and get the ball out and
make the tempo fast. Whoever controls the tempo in this

(04:37):
series is going to win it. Second thing quickly, Colin
Tyres Halliburton. Look, he hasn't been the same. He came
back early from injury, you know, I guess to his credit,
but hasn't been the same player since.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Can he find a way to.

Speaker 4 (04:53):
Play as well as he was early in the season
when the Pacers were rolling and he was looking like.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
A super If he can do that, they got a shot.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
But I'm betting he won't in this series, and I
think the Knicks will prevail.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
So the Lakers will be looking for their eighth coach
in fourteen years. If it was an NFL franchise, we
would like think it was Carolina just a complete circus,
but the Lakers have a big brand. I think my
feeling is Lebron is mostly he's good at crafting his
image and he's mostly been like, hey, I don't make
the decisions around here at somebody else. But this time

(05:28):
he's getting huge pushback that the Lakers announced we want Darvin.
A week later, he's out and The feeling is Lebron said,
I'm not coming back for this, does it? Ding Lebron?
I mean, how good of a coach do you think
they can get who wants this job?

Speaker 3 (05:44):
Well, that's the look. Did Lebron order the hit so
to fake?

Speaker 4 (05:49):
I doubt it, but he certainly didn't defend Darvin Ham.
We saw his public comments and all of If Lebron
says publicly or privately, keep Darving we'll be fine, then he's.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
There is as simple as that.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
So however much blame you want to put him, you
can definitely say he didn't give him a lifeline by
any stretch. And the cryptic things that Lebron's tends to
do certainly hurt him. It was a huge mistake. And
again I'm not saying Darving Ham is Phil Jackson, but
look at the landscape, Colin, who's out there.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
They want Tyleru good luck.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
I mean, the Clippers are trying to sign he's already
got a year left.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
The Clippers are trying to give him an extension.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
Balmber we know, will pay whatever amount it takes. And
even if Tyleru doesn't want the extension, if for some
odd reason he wasn't coaching the Lakers this year or
the Clippers this year.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
There's no way Barmber's allowing him to go to.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
The Lakers for next season. That's out of the question.
There were reports they wanted Jason Kidd, obviously, he just
got the contract extension with Dallas.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
Kenny Atkinson.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Lebron looked at Eric Spostra and David Blatt because it
was like they got a swag. They carried themselves with
a swagger they haven't really earned yet. What if they done?
What's he gonna think about Kenny Atkinson?

Speaker 6 (07:11):
All right?

Speaker 4 (07:12):
Who Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving ran out of Brooklyn, all right.
Mike Budenhozer, Okay, he's probably, honestly, probably about the best
out there.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
I would look at Mark Jackson.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
We know his name has been mud for some reason
in NBA coaching circles or front office circles, at least
in terms of hiring.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
He would be I think a good hire.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
But if they don't go there, probably, Butenholzer's the best
out there.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
But Darvin Ham learned under Budenholzer. Darvin Ham.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
A lot of the same criticisms of Ham were criticisms
of Botnoz. He doesn't adjust in the playoffs, right, He
lost in the first round with a more talented team
in Milwaukee a few times.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
So it's just who's There's no one out there.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
Had they thought this out, you keep Darvin ham and
next year and then if it doesn't go well, maybe
Tyler's available. You get word to Tyler, Hey, this doesn't
go work, you know what I mean. Like, So it
just was a mistake because there's no one.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
There's no Phil.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
Jackson out there that you're gonna go get. JJ Reddick
has no experience whatsoever. And it's a tough job too.
Colin who wants it? Who really is dying.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
To coach it?

Speaker 4 (08:27):
Because you know, if you lose, you're going to get criticized.
If you win, you might not get much credit. Lila
Frank Vogel And they're gonna lose.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
That's great. And you know how great I think lebron is.
We all know how great he is. He's done winning championships.

Speaker 4 (08:44):
The only chance I would give them a winning the
championship next year, whoever the coach is, is if they
somehow got Kyrie Irving from Dallas. That's not happening. They're
gonna be good, but they're not gonna win a championship. Minnesota, Dallas,
they're not going anywhere. And here's gonna come Memphis once
they get John Murant back.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
So no, they're not gonna win.

Speaker 4 (09:07):
So it's gonna be a tough job because you're gonna
get a lot of criticism.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd Weekdays
and Noone Easter nin am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
FS one and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
Yeah, it's if I asked you, there's gonna be one
huge NBA trade in the offseason. When the season ends,
there's gonna be one. Phoenix says they're gonna bring it back.
Orlando is gonna go big game hunting a bunch of
young kids. They want a guy. So I'll keep your

(09:41):
eye in Orlando. We know the Knicks are interested. Paul
George could leave one big trade. What is your guess,
your hunch, Well.

Speaker 4 (09:52):
I'm gonna tell you what I think, what I would
like to see, and if I were running one of
these teams, what I would do if I'm New York,
if i I'm Philadelphia. Sure I got some interest in
Paul George without question, But first, my first option, I'm
trying to trade for Kevin Durant. Now, maybe Phoenix doesn't
want to do it, but they're not gonna win a

(10:12):
championship either as currently constructed, and so it might behoove
them to try to start going younger, get some assets
and say Devin Booker still young enough. He's got a
second act for sure, so you could build around Devin Booker.
You can't trade Bradley Beal, I don't think with that contract.
So see what you can get for Kevin Durant. New

(10:34):
York's got some nice players, nice role type players, right,
they got draft picks, so I would. Philadelphia's got the
space to absorb Kevin Durant to their contract. They got
some draft picks, so I would those two teams, I
would look at Kevin Durant.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
That's what I would do.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
Brewis always great. See anybody.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
All right, Colin?

Speaker 6 (10:57):
Thanks?

Speaker 1 (10:57):
All right? Yeah it's uh, Orlando. There have been some
stars there through the years. That's shack.

Speaker 6 (11:04):
You know.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
They got a good roster, just need a guy. Yeah, Orlando,
you ever been there?

Speaker 5 (11:11):
I got a lot of relatives there. They are listening
to the show every day, so I cannot besmirch the
good name of Orlando. It's a fine city.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
When you have a bunch of good young players, you're
not paying them and you need one. Dude, it'd be
fun to play, wouldn't it be fun to kind.

Speaker 5 (11:23):
Of like be? I mean, I think Paul George's agent
is using Orlando as leverage. Orlando's gonna pay my guy,
so poney up Steve Bolmer Balmo will say, yeah, I
gotta do it, just like he's got to pay to
keep Tylo.

Speaker 6 (11:37):
Right.

Speaker 5 (11:37):
I mean, Tyler's not going Laker. We don't chase the
kids off the table. Now he's staying with the MAVs.

Speaker 3 (11:41):
It is.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
You know, I've said this as a you're a Jets fan,
and I've said this for years that the answer for fans,
and I get it. Fans are emotionals, fire the coach.
But you do get because you and I have moved
around the country in our careers. Let's personalize it. You
do look at a company and go do they give
people a chance? Do you get a four year track?

Speaker 5 (12:01):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (12:01):
Like, you look when you have options in life, and
the Chicago Bears don't generally get the best scouts, right
because the mccaskeys don't have the money. The Jets, you'll
fire people. They don't get the best people. They get
Joe Douglas who was a young guy never given the chance.
But would a Chris Ballard consider the Jets or a

(12:21):
Howie Roseman, No, they wouldn't consider it, Like the best
GMS would be like, no, I'm not going to the Jets.
So what happens is a lot of times with companies
that just their answer is firing is you have to
overpay for people. And you know, like the Knicks when
they were a mess, you know, they paid a fortune.
They had to massively overpay Phil Jackson to be something
he never had been a GM. And then Phil Jackson

(12:44):
called Steve Kerr. Steve Kerse like, no, thank you, I
don't want it. If the Knicks had had two coaches
in twelve years, you can get Steve Kerr as a coach.
But Kerr looked at it and went, it's a circus.
So the answer is, ohays, let's just fire people. That
sends a message. It's like having divorces six. You know,
somebody may go at some point, I don't know what's
going on there, you know, So it's like I think

(13:06):
we always just say get rid of the coach. The
Lakers are on their eight coach in fourteen years. I mean,
you're just on the no fly list, like they're just
people have no interest line it.

Speaker 5 (13:16):
Okay, But other guys who have coached for Lebron and
won a title, take Tylou for example, Frank Vogel, They're
always gonna get jobs because they got a championship on
the resume.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
They know what it takes to Here's another thing hurting
the Lakers. They're not a big money franchise. People think
they are. The Yankees are, the Dodgers are?

Speaker 6 (13:34):
You know?

Speaker 1 (13:35):
The Philadelphia Eagles are some of these? You know, the
Rams have big money, the Niners. The Lakers don't pay
their coach ten million dollars a year. Miami does, Mickey
Errison does. So the Lakers they invite you out here,
you will give you three and a half million. Have
you looked at la real estate? Have you looked at
the tax right? You lose half to the taxes, and

(13:55):
you know the.

Speaker 5 (13:56):
Heat, come on the heat. We're not paying spoils for
big Bucks. Now they're paying him, but they were. He
was always well paid. Now he's wildly well paid. Now
the Warriors. He hasn't want to tight it with a Lebron.
He's a very good coach, but he has not won
a chip without Lebron. He has been to the final.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
So they're gonna have to pay Darvin ham not to
coach one of the poorest ownership groups. What do you
think they're gonna pay the next coach four million?

Speaker 5 (14:17):
Well, it depends where you're going. I didn't.

Speaker 6 (14:19):
I don't.

Speaker 5 (14:19):
I'm take jj reddick off.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
If I gave you four million Orlando four million, Lakers,
I take Orlando. I get that. No, I'm just saying
you look at Orlando and roll your eyes. You give
me OKC for four million or laa Antelo dosn't.

Speaker 5 (14:36):
Won a playoff series win since like twenty ten. It's
not like that. Franchise is Dad's exact to get.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
I get a great GM, I get rising stars. I
got drafted. The okay, see job is a million times
better than the Lakers job. That's not even.

Speaker 5 (14:49):
Close the OKA See yes, Orlando, No.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
Or Orlando's good. It's a good job, right, I mean, okay,
see job maybe the best.

Speaker 6 (14:55):
In the league.

Speaker 5 (14:56):
Yeah, but it's not open.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
The guy just want to go to the we're arguing,
we're doing the theoretical here. I'm saying, imagine yourself ever
saying this, the Orioles is a better job than the Yankees.
The answer is never.

Speaker 5 (15:07):
Okay, fine, Bucks are Lakers. What's a better job, don't
don't rust take your time?

Speaker 1 (15:10):
Well, I don't like the Buck space right now, So
the Lakers is better than the Bucks. But you're giving
me like a space that I don't think is good
at all. Lakers have the opportunity here to deal some picks.

Speaker 5 (15:21):
Bucks were like one day the second or third seed,
the third seed in the in the East.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
That's like winning the Mountain West Conference.

Speaker 5 (15:27):
Come on, okay, well, Clipper Clippers are Clippers? Are Lakers?
Take your time, new facility, old questionable guys.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
I would take the Lakers.

Speaker 5 (15:35):
Okay, So now the Lakers job's better than the Bucks
in the Clippers.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
Well, but remember right now the Bucks is an open
and the Clippers isn't open. You're giving me really bad
examples of the oldest roster and the most dysfunctional. But
I'm saying that this idea. In the NFL, the Kansas
City Chiefs has almost always been a better job than
the Jets because of the Hunt family. That's almost always
been a better job, not just now, but it was
always a good, solid job. The Hunt family knew what

(16:00):
they were doing, right. The Packers is always a good job.
You don't get crazy. Owner Packers has been a better
job than the Bears most of my life. Right but
in the NBA, the Celtics and Laker jobs should be
better empirically over OKC, And right now it's not close.

Speaker 5 (16:17):
Yeah, okay, SE's built for the future.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
Yes, well, but super bright GM draft picks rising star.

Speaker 5 (16:24):
We need the Maps to spank them and knock them down.
I'm done with the OKAC talk. And the series hasn't
even started like this. Okay, see hype, Let's slow down.
I know Jet's awesome, SGA is very very good, but
let's let's just Luca's going to dispatch these guys. Okay,
all right, all right?

Speaker 1 (16:39):
J Mack with a news.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
No turn on the news. This is the Herdline news.

Speaker 5 (16:45):
We actually had some breaking news in the NBA. Lead
go Bear missed today's shoot around. Oh trouble Minnesota Denver tonight.
He's being listed as questionable for tonight's Game two due
to personal reasons. Go, Bear is about to become a father,
So I guess if he has wife or girlfriend whoever
goes into labor. Maybe Gobert misses the game. Now, they
did win Game one very impressively. Gobert was strong defensively,

(17:11):
Minnesota size really dominated Yokich. He was eleven of twenty
nine in Game one. Quietly, Jokic is not having a
great postseason, first against the Lakers and now again.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
Well he's productive, but he hasn't. It doesn't feel like
to me he's been quite as efficient.

Speaker 4 (17:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (17:25):
Interesting, how that huh?

Speaker 7 (17:26):
Interesting?

Speaker 1 (17:27):
How that works? What what's so funny about it?

Speaker 5 (17:29):
I thought he was was the best player in the
league by a mile, and I was like, oh, five
postseason games struggle bus.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
I called him a great statu He had thirty two
points on twenty nine shots.

Speaker 5 (17:39):
That's not efficient.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
It's not good.

Speaker 5 (17:41):
I could get thirty two points if you give me
twenty nine shots. Not the NBA boll.

Speaker 1 (17:45):
I mean jokicch took nine threes in Game one, So
clearly he's sending a message like, hey, going inside here
is rough.

Speaker 5 (17:53):
They're bad because Gobert's not playing him. Gobert's off of him.
And then you got to go over Towns and Gobert.
I don't know if how if Denver doesn't smack them
down tonight, Denver's in real trouble, like if Minnesota loses
by two.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
Well, Dendi Gobert, are you telling me Rudy Gobert is
not playing?

Speaker 5 (18:10):
He's questionable. We don't know he misshoot around if his
wife goes into labor.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
I guess he's pots on the script.

Speaker 5 (18:15):
Yeah, well it's official that he's out. No, he's listed
as questionable.

Speaker 1 (18:19):
Yeah, I know, not your script, I mean the NBA script.

Speaker 5 (18:22):
What NB stop were conspiracy theorists. We take a text
from Aaron Rodgers during the break. Next up, the Clippers
eliminated Friday from the playoffs. Now a lot of questions
about their off season future. The Athletic reports the Clippers
hope to keep Paul George and James Harden to mitigate
the seemingly inevitable injuries like they needed that season. I'm sorry,

(18:43):
I felt bad laughing at that. Paul George and James
Harden are said to become free agents this summer. Hoops
Hype reports the Clippers don't want to offer George more
than Kawhi's three one fifty three. Because Leonard is viewed
as their best player. Paul George must love hearing.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
Paul George's their best player because he's also If he's
a notch below Kawhi, he's also available.

Speaker 5 (19:05):
He's a round all the time.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
Yeah, yeah, I don't unharnest. If you told me, oh
you got a Maserati, you get it about one day
a week, or you have you know, this Mercedes, but
you get it seven days a week. Uh oh, you
know whatever, the nicest, you know, the most expensive car.
If you don't give me consistency, I'm out. I don't
care in life, I'm I need consistently. I'm a creature,

(19:26):
a habit. You're not. The coaches walk into that Clipper
building three forty five, they have no idea if he's playing,
I'm out. I'm not interested in that.

Speaker 5 (19:34):
I just sometimes wonder, like what if I started to
pull some of.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
That Oh you way out? Let me tell you some
right now, I go get Paul George and kick you
to the curb.

Speaker 5 (19:42):
Final story is the Chiefs. They added another playmaker for
Patrick Mahomes, with Xavier Worthy, the Burner from Texas. He
checked in at a buck sixty nine. I think that's
less than I wait. It feels like his weight won't
hurt his chances of success in the NFL.

Speaker 8 (19:56):
He thinks, I'm waiting I will sixte but uh, I
don't think I took big kids. I've delivered him. But nah,
I feel like it's not gonna be a problem. I
feel like, just understanding your strengths and your weaknesses. I
feel like that's the big thing in the league. Don't
obviously try to go hit a two hundred and fifteen
pound linebacker. So just understanding your way, understanding your strengths.

(20:18):
Like I said, and DJ was obviously he came into
League one sixty nine and understood his strength. So just
using your strengths to his strength.

Speaker 1 (20:25):
I mean, really interested to see him play it. Texas
got hurt a lot some drops. There's no question he
jumps off the TV. Like when you watch him, you're like,
who's that guy? He can really run? But it was
you know, I worry about guys that get hurt in college.

Speaker 5 (20:44):
Yeah, Irwin James coming over the middle. You think he's
gonna lay the lumber.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
But I don't understand. I've seen so many small, brittle
guys like just not deliver. He is again it's Andy
Reaton Mahomes will probably make it work. But you get
to the bottom of the first round and those guys
come with some and he, I like Mitchell, I thought
that's the guy that I would have been.

Speaker 5 (21:04):
He fell a little bit to I believe your cults.
So remember Davante Smith of the Eagles came in with
some similar weight issues a couple of years back.

Speaker 3 (21:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
Yeah, but Davante's bigger than that guy.

Speaker 5 (21:14):
I mean he's like one seventy four or whatever. That's
not that much bigger.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
Davante plays big. I never even consider DeVante Adams weight.
He plays big. He wrestles the ball away. I don't
know how much is Davante Smith. Oh you're talking DeVante Smith.
I thought you were talking Davonte Eagles. Oh no, no, no,
I think there were. I think there were. I was
concerned about him, and he's been good.

Speaker 5 (21:36):
He's been excellent.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
Yeah, but I but I had concerns about him as well,
and he's worked. Did you say Adams or Smith? That
was my bad?

Speaker 5 (21:42):
I hope, I said Smith.

Speaker 6 (21:43):
I hope.

Speaker 5 (21:43):
I said it is Monday, you know. And then Tom
Brady roast is in my head.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
Yeah, I'm dizzy from washing that roast. I didn't even drink.
Jmack with the News, Well.

Speaker 2 (21:54):
That's the news, and thanks for stopping by the Herd
Line News.

Speaker 1 (21:58):
I was thinking, Yeah, Davante Adams big one hundred and
seventy five pounds, that's odd. He looks like he's one
hundred ninety five two hundred. Yeah. Devontae Smith, I remember
when he came out. I said, I don't know, I
don't know if that's gonna I don't know if it's
gonna work. But he's been great, right.

Speaker 6 (22:13):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
Drew Bledsoe joined us earlier today. Pretty funny stuff live
from the golf course. He wore sunglasses for a reason.
Second live in La, It's the Herd.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and noone Easter not a em Pacific.

Speaker 3 (22:29):
Hey, I'm Doug Gottlieb.

Speaker 5 (22:30):
The podcast is called All Ball.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
We usually talk all basketball all the time, but it's
more about the stories about what made these people love
their sport and all the interesting interactions along the way.

Speaker 5 (22:42):
We talked to coaches, we talked to players.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
We tell you stories.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
You download it, you listen to it.

Speaker 8 (22:48):
I think you like it.

Speaker 1 (22:50):
Listen to All Ball with Doug Gottlieb on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Push a
button and watch the Tom Brady Roast live anywhere in
the world you were. It was three and a half
hours long. I brought Drew Bledsoel on earlier, so he
was very early in it and very funny in it.
And you know, I just talked to him. I said,

(23:11):
you know, going into it, what did you expect and
how did it land for you?

Speaker 7 (23:16):
And I knew it was going to be rough on Tom,
and I knew they were going to come back at
me too, But you know, I mean, a roast is
a roast, right, You got to go all in otherwise
it doesn't Otherwise it doesn't work. But man, it was
so damn funny calling and just sitting there. I was
glad that I was up early. There was a lot
of pressure to go early. You know, people have been

(23:37):
drinking very much, so I actually had to be funny.
They couldn't just be wasted. And but I was really
glad I went early. So then I got to just
sit back and laugh the rest of the time. Man,
it was funny as hell.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
So when it was over, I mean literally there was.
There was a moment with Belichick and Craft at the
podium with Kevin. Bill looked like the last place on
earth he wanted to be.

Speaker 3 (23:57):
I get it.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
He hated the documentary. I get it. But I will
tell you this, Drew. I thought Belichick was a winner
last night. He laughed, He laughed at himself. And I
think Bill the last several years, you know, came across
as a little combative and rigid. I thought Bill handle that.
I thought I thought Bill was one of the winners
last night.

Speaker 7 (24:15):
Your thoughts, Yeah, I agree with you, Colin. I think
he you know, Bill, look you get him out of
the office. He is a funny guy. He's a good person.
You know, he's obviously very prickly around the office and
in a professional setting.

Speaker 6 (24:28):
Yeah, but I thought I thought that was good for
him last night. I didn't know if he was going
to be there. They didn't.

Speaker 7 (24:33):
I don't think they knew if he was going to
be there until like maybe two days ago. And yeah,
I definitely thought he was a winner last night. Come
in and you know, be able to laugh at himself
and be a little bit lighthearted, and then he and
he and Craft before the before the show, they got
some time to break it down, just the two of them,
you know, and nobody knows what was said, but the

(24:55):
two of them got to spend some time together, which
was great.

Speaker 1 (24:58):
Yeah, Tom was mostly comfortable. But I sat there and
I thought, oh man, I I can laugh at myself,
but it's pretty rough. Was there ever a moment you thought, Man,
we're being rough, We're being rough. We're going after everything here, you.

Speaker 7 (25:13):
Know, Oh man, some of the some of the crypto
stuff I had, I had honestly almost forgotten about that,
and they.

Speaker 6 (25:21):
Went deep on that stuff on him. And then, uh
but you know that.

Speaker 7 (25:26):
I mean, the truth is with Tom, you know, I mean,
you can't make fun of his career, you can't make
fun of his accomplishments, so you gotta go personal.

Speaker 6 (25:34):
And I think that that's that's what he that's what
he signed up for, you know.

Speaker 7 (25:37):
I mean, I don't have a lot of stuff to
make up make fun of him for, but I can
make fun of the fact that he's not married anymore.

Speaker 6 (25:43):
So that's not that's where I had to go. But
but man, he was uh no, he was a good sport.

Speaker 7 (25:50):
And uh, you know I communicated with him before that,
and his his point was, look, man, all this stuff's
already been said, like, none of this is brand new material,
and so he's like, might as well to say it
to my face instead of just staying it on outside.
But yeah, did I'll tell you. What I'll tell you
was what was What was pretty interesting though. Man, You're

(26:11):
sitting up there and you know, everybody's on teleprompters and
got all this stuff written before. But dude, Rob Gronkowski
is just Rob Gronkowski and that's what he's best at,
is being Gronk. And uh so I'm up there looking
at the teleprompter like, dude, this guy is so far
off script. I don't know if he's ever going to
get back. And when they weren't faking it many and
he and Kevin Hart were drinking lots of tequila.

Speaker 6 (26:33):
Yeah, sitting up there last night, man, it was it
was funny.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
Well, I'm glad you are sunglasses. I don't need to
see those red eyes. Go go go hit one under.
I know where you're at. It's a great course.

Speaker 6 (26:44):
Good luck to you.

Speaker 7 (26:45):
Yeah, going going going low today, playing again with a
bunch of the bunch of the comedians today. So at
the very least, we're gonna laugh a lot and uh
and then I'm gonna go home and get some rest
for a couple of days.

Speaker 6 (26:57):
Then I'm too old for this stuff, so.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
I said earlier. J Max said, I'm not a pyramid guy.
Whatever that means, pyramid scheme guy. I would get that.
So I didn't have my Patriots pyramid. If you go
to the twenty year Dynasty, you didn't like that. Randy
Moss didn't make it. And I said, like Kad to
the Warriors, he was never part of their soul, but
he was a really, really great player and their best
player for a couple of years. So Brady obviously at

(27:21):
the top, has no disputing Belichick and Craft next and again,
pushback on Craft all you want. He meddled one time
and he was right. Otherwise he didn't meddle. You ask
any coach in this league any GM. That's why the
Hunt family Bashadi in Baltimore. Stan Kronk medaling owners crush
it most do Then I think Gronk and Bruski are
the two most valuable players after Brady. Gronk. I mean literally,

(27:44):
he took him to Tampa. Gronk was the ultimate big range,
break tackles, red zone weapon. Randy Moss could go over
the top, but you don't get a lot of stuff
over the top in the playoffs. Teams take it away.
You couldn't take Gronk away. Ruski was a seven time captain.
He wasn't the most talented either was Grunk by the way.

(28:04):
Brandy Moss was more talented. Bruski again was a sole player.
He was a Draymond Green player that all the signals
went through Bruski, high IQ, tough guy. Ernie Adams was
basically the most trusted person in the building. Bill leaned
on Ernie for personnel questions, coaching questions, and he was
a very likable element to the Apple Doc. And then

(28:27):
I go Edelman. Dante Scarneki had the greatest offensive line
coach probably ever. Their all lines are not the same
today as they were ten years ago. There's a reason
Alex Guerrero Adam vine Teri and you can say what
you want about Guerrero, but if you look at Brady,
he was viewed as a talented game manager in the
first dynasty, and then it wasn't about his stats. In

(28:49):
the second one, it was about his youthfulness that he
never aged. Well, that's just not avocado ice cream. That
is Alex Guerrero and those tortuous workouts he went through
in a daily basis TV twelve, and so people can
bang on Guerrero, but there's a reason lebron spends two
and a half billion dollars a year in his body,
and Russell Wilson does, and Brady does, and you find

(29:09):
somebody that's kind of his Smengali, somebody he leans on,
and I put people are gonna freak out with Guerrero
and say, well, what about this player again? Brady Gronk, Bruski,
Edelman not necessarily the last three of the most talented.
But if you go to the Warriors, Kat is not
in that. It's Kerr, Steph Clay Draymond and a lot

(29:32):
of moving parts. Some kd better than others.

Speaker 5 (29:35):
Yeah, Kat would have been on like the third line
with Bob Meyer, maybe Bob Meyer's second line. But anyways,
the only pushback I gave was Moss. I think when
you're looking at Bruski, ty Law had arguably the better career.
Vince Wilfork had arguably the better career more impactful. I'm
sure I would love to hear Belichick's thoughts on who
he'd have in there, But then I would pull Guerrero
and put Moss in.

Speaker 1 (29:56):
Well, Bill would not have Alex Guerrero, I Bill would.

Speaker 5 (30:00):
He wanted to get him out of the building, right right, right,
And again, Guerrero was only there for a small time,
as was Moss, but overall, I can't hate that.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
If I'm gonna put Bill Belichick's right hand man Ernie
and Dante.

Speaker 5 (30:12):
No what Ernie was there for like fifteen years right,
well longer?

Speaker 1 (30:16):
Yeah, So if I'm going to put Bill's right hand man,
I can't put Brady's right hand man Alex Carrero.

Speaker 5 (30:22):
It wasn't his right hand man until like the last
like eight years, though, was it not?

Speaker 1 (30:26):
That's when Tom became When did Tom become the goat?
It wasn't in the first run. It was the second
run Tom when he won the Atlanta super Bowl the
next day, it was understood He's the goat, not Montana.
And that life extension, that career extension, was on pliability
in his workouts. Yeah. So Guerrero got involved after his

(30:48):
ACL injury in two thousand and eight. Staff just sent it.
By the way that the staff sent me one. They said,
should Gizell be on there for allowing Tom to take
less money? No, that's not how it works.

Speaker 5 (30:58):
That's not bad.

Speaker 6 (31:00):
Staff.

Speaker 5 (31:00):
Just that Alex, that's a good that's a good line.
Should just be on the Patriots.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
Well, I mean at some point she had value, absolutely
remarkable value.

Speaker 5 (31:11):
She was about of many jokes last night at the Yeah,
Belichick was pretty funny. I haven't seen his part yet.

Speaker 1 (31:19):
Yeah, I thought.

Speaker 3 (31:20):
I thought.

Speaker 1 (31:21):
My takeaway is it looked big. Netflix made it look big.
I mean Kim Kardashian got booed appropriately. She had no
business being there.

Speaker 5 (31:29):
What's her name? Glasser had an unbelievable Kim Kardashian line.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
Yeah, yeah, I was almost. Nicky Glazer is great. Nicky
Glazer and Jeffrey Ross are probably the two best roasters.

Speaker 6 (31:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (31:41):
Kevin Hart guy, I've seen him live twice. I think
Kevin Hart's the funniest guy right now, going in very.

Speaker 1 (31:45):
Funny, very very good. But I mean, roast is a
different thing than stand up, Like like Kevin's like Chris Rock,
He's all leon stage like, he has a huge presence
and he owns the stage. Chappelle does that too. Where
As roasting is different. It's a different skill set, and
I think Ross and Nicky Glazer are there. It's kind

(32:07):
of a different whole ball game. Like like like Jerry
Seinfold's a legend. I don't think he'd be a great roaster.
He's not harsh, and I'd like to you gotta be
you gotta you gotta be almost inappropriate.

Speaker 5 (32:17):
I would like to see Jerry get inappropriate. I'm sure
he does. Remember what's a guy's name from Full House?

Speaker 4 (32:22):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (32:23):
Who used to Kevin James?

Speaker 5 (32:24):
Bob Saggett.

Speaker 1 (32:26):
Bob Saggon was inappropriate?

Speaker 5 (32:27):
Wild and you didn't see that coming and then it
was like, wow, that is hilarious. So I would like
to see signfold. Yeah, to be a great roaster, you
have to cross a line regularly. That would I would
be a good roaster.

Speaker 6 (32:37):
I think.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
I wouldn't classify mistakes as crossing the line.

Speaker 5 (32:43):
I'm going to bit you a line crosser.

Speaker 1 (32:45):
Okay, sure, if you view yourself that well, okay, that's
not how.

Speaker 6 (32:49):
We view it.

Speaker 1 (32:49):
But you know, nonetheless, all right, I'm uh that was
a good one today. Drew Bledsoe stopping by in dark
glasses for a reason. I appreciated that. And uh, the
first things first is right around the corner, the show
with no budget in New York Live.

Speaker 6 (33:04):
It's the hurt
