Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
So I was thinking about this. The Patriots are now officially,
according to CBS Sports, they're moving forward with a search
for their next top football executive. So Jared Mayo is
now the drawd Mayo is now the coach, Drake may
probably eventually soon to be the quarterback. Robert Kraft still

(00:47):
owns the team, so for years Belichick not only served
as the head coach, but according to the NFL League office,
his title was primary football executive. So when you watch
that roast the other night, it's pretty clear that you know,
Belichick just does not like Robert Kraft. He laughed at
Edelman grok Brady and Bill it's fine.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
I mean, you know, it's not.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
They don't hang out, but Brady and Belichick are fine.
Craft and Belichick are not. It's uncomfortable, but it's interesting
football primary football executive, meaning that Bill controlled the draft.
Otherwise you just called the coach. So let's go back
to New England drafts. As Bill thinks, it's Craft that
had his undoing. The last draft for the New England

(01:34):
Patriots run by Belichick that garnered just multiple good starters
is nine years ago. They got some good linemen both sides,
twenty fifteen, twenty sixteen. Maybe it's maybe it's more a
mirror issue than a Craft issue. You have to go
back to the twenty twelve draft, like twelve thirteen years ago,

(01:54):
when the primary football executive who controlled the draft, Bill Belichick,
found multiple Pro Bowlers. So that's my thing. You can
blame a lot of people. But in the end, when
they gave Pete Carroll control in Seattle, the drafts got bad.
Mike Holmgren's a legend in Seattle. When he got there

(02:16):
and had control of the drafts, the drafts got bad.
GM GMS coach coaches. Belichick's need for ultimate decision power
was his undoing. That's why I don't buy into this.
Robert Kraft tore him down.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
No, he didn't.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Brady didn't want Garoppolo, he moved him out and by
the way they were right and Bill was wrong. Garoppolo
was never great. Brady won an under Super Bowl or two.

Speaker 2 (02:40):

News, No, No turn on the news.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
This is the Herd Line News.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
It's exit inter season in the NBA. Colin and the
seventy six Ers after that loss in the first round
to the Knicks, you know, looks like they're going to
be entertaining a tough off season. So Darryl Moorey spoke
to the media and said during the team's exit interviews,
he basically said, the Sixers are going to look entirely
different next year. Outside of him beating Maxie.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
We're not gonna have continuity. So we hopefully will have
continuity going forward a little better. We'll have continuity with
our stars and our head coach. But we're gonna have
a lot of change this offseason. We feel like we're
in the window we have to win now. We're mostly
focused on getting the best players that fit with Joelle
and Tyresee. This offseason is a big one. You know,

(03:41):
I owe it to the fans, to ownership, to everybody
to get this team in a place where we're competing
for championships, and we obviously didn't achieve that this year.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
They have to go get a point guard. Stop having
him beat outside in the perimeter. Maxie's a shooting guard.
Get a pure point guard. Here's the other thing. They
feel a little bit like the Cincinnati Bengals. We both
love Joe Burrow, but they're at one injury away to
Joe Burrow that you have to draft another quarterback. So
Cincinnati's timeline is not Kansas City's, is not Baltimore's. It's

(04:14):
not the Chargers. Cincinnati Bengals timeline is this may be
the last year at Burrow. Now he could play for
ten more, but when you have four straight years of injuries,
you're like our timeline's now, that's where I feel with Embid,
You're Giannis is getting close to this. Roway is blown
past it years ago.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
We'll get to the Bengals shortly. And just looking at
the roster for the Sixers and who's paid. So Buddy
Heels is a free agent, he's gone. Tobias Harris made
done nine million, dollars gone, Robert Covington, Nikol matoomb Diavolo Melton,
all these Kelly Hubre campaigns. Essentially, they're going the old
route of super team with Lebron Right, Embiid, Maxie and

(04:54):
a point guard. Well, I don't know you got you
gotta captivate for one other Max guy. You get like
a point guard? Are you gonna Paul.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
George Paul George Fitz. Who's the problem with this team?
When you watch the Knison Sixers play, I thought Philly
had more talent. The difference was the Knicks had very
few bad especially fourth quarter, very few bad offensive possessions
because Brunson runs the show. The Sixers had multiple terrible possessions.
So before the Clippers got James Harden, they can never

(05:23):
get into their offense. It's a problem. And you're finding
this Phoenix Suns, by the way, lots of talent, they
struggle to get into their offense. You need a point guard.
And I think that's the nixt story is they have
right now the hottest point guard in the league in
terms of guidance, toughness, resilience, scoring, in Jalen Brunson. So
Philadelphia is you can have all these great players on
the perimeter. Max He's not a point he's a scoring

(05:45):
They had Kyle Lowry. I know he's like thirty five.
He's by the way you see him.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
I thought that was old school. We're in positionless basketball.
You don't need that. It's silly. But Mike Conley has
been like a steadying influence for the Timberwolves. He's been
very solid, and you need that veteran leadership taking care
of the basketball. You're right, Sixers didn't really have that.
I don't know. I don't want to speculate Kevin Durant.
I don't know if the Sixers have enough to trade.
But Daryl Morey likes to go big game hunting historically.

(06:12):
Look at all his teams. He wants stars.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
I don't think I need a star point guard. Give
me find me another Mike Conley, find me another high
IQ veteran guy, grown up, understands his role, willing defender.
That's what I need. He did it in Utah, he
did it pre Utah. He does it in Minnesota. Everybody
liked the Mike Conley to Minnesota move.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
We all liked it.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
It's like put a veteran next to aunt and he'll
help him grow. Hard to find, though, is it that
hard to find a mature guy that gives you eleven
points in guidance? I mean that it's a global sport.
It's that hard to find one guy. You're not gonna
be the star. That's an You're not gonna be my
rim productor you're not gonna be my best wing defender.
I'm just asking you. Can you get us into the
offense and be.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
A grown up not asked for shots?

Speaker 1 (06:54):
And I got two great scorers. I don't need that.
Just be it a be a willing defender high get
us into the office. If you have to hit an
occasional three, I'd love it. But you may be the
fourth scoring option. You're definitely not the first two.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
Does Reggie Jackson do it for you?

Speaker 1 (07:09):
No, Reggie tends to think like baseball Reggie Jackson. He
gets into his field, thinks he's the home run kid.

Speaker 5 (07:16):
All right.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
Next up, speaking of exit interviews, pat Riley spoke to
reporters yesterday. He disappointing season after the finals run last year,
and Jimmy Butler was a hot topic of discussion. When
asked about Butler's potentially asking for a two year extension
this summer, he's eligible for one. Here's what pat Riley
had to say.

Speaker 5 (07:38):
We have not discussed that internally right now, but we
have to look at at that making that kind of commitment, okay,
and when do we do it? And we wouldn't have
to do it until twenty five actually, but but we'll see,
we haven't made a decision on it, and we really

(07:58):
haven't really in earnest disgusted. That's a big decision on
our part to commit you know that that kind of
those kinds of resources unless unless you have somebody who's
really going to be there, you know, available every single night.
That's the truth.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
That's why it's stunning to me that Kawhi Leonard got
the extension. I mean, Butler misses time, but when he
is on the floor, he's great.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Butler miss twenty two games this year, Tyler hero miss forty.
Miami used thirty seven different starting lineups, and listen, I
like Jimmy Butler a lot.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
You do.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
I'm not saying Miami's like considering moving on from him,
but I would not be surprised if his name came
up this summer and they're just like, sorry, dude, we
don't want to pay you. We don't want to extend you.
You're thirty six with the injury history, like, we don't
want to do that. Isn't it fascinating?

Speaker 1 (08:54):
So the NBA is a global game and people and
you get on a regular base an NBA draft where
you sort of run out of players by pick twelve,
only two rounds. The NFL is simply a domestic game
where a lot of moms are don't want their statistically
kids playing football. Certainly in LA half the league is undrafted.

(09:16):
There's football talent everywhere, and it's just a domestic game.
Basketball is an international game. And you're asking me, can
the Sixers find a point guard that can average ten points,
be an adult, defend and get into the offense.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
It is interesting?

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Is it not?

Speaker 6 (09:30):
Well?

Speaker 3 (09:31):
Isn't it?

Speaker 1 (09:31):
Isn't it interesting that how the reason Kawhi and Butler
and Embiid keep getting signed is there's no replacements. That's
why James Harden keeps getting gigs. There's no replacements. I
think it's fascinating that in a global sport, just finding
a grown up a point guard that could a Mike Conley.

(09:51):
I said, let's get a Mike Conley duplicate and we
both love his NBA and we're like, yeah, I don't
think of it. Well, does one exists?

Speaker 3 (09:57):
Okay, so James Harden's what six to five, He's probably
than five percent of the NFL. Like you could find
football players, it's real tough to find. Go go out
there and see if you can find a six to
seven wing who can defend three physicians.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Really find football players. Go find a six seven, three
hundred pounds man with great feet that can block Max Cross.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
I'll go to the Deep South and I'll go through Louisiana, Arkansas,
all those states, and you're gonna they.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
Grow on trees in Florida. Nounds six seven, three hundred
pounds with great feet that can block Max Crosby. You
get about one every three years in the NFL. The
Trent Williams panay sewel I think I don't have an
answer for it, and people say, well, the rosters are bigger.
It's interesting to me the reason these teams are all
signing these load management guys. They wouldn't if there was

(10:43):
somebody else out there in the NFL. If you didn't consistently,
you weren't healthy in the playoffs, you'd be done. Teams
would be like, you're right, be one thing. If you
played poorly, they'd bring it back. But if you were
not consistently available for two years in the playoffs, we're
not re signing you. I just think it's amazing there
is Maybe it's you know, obviously you're going to have

(11:06):
more rounds of an NFL draft. The rosters are bigger. Yes,
that goes without saying. But you never in your wildest
dreams have this conversation in football. Ooh, can we find
another running back, receiver, tight end, yes, linebacker, safety, corner, yes.
I mean you may not get Mahomes, but you there's
every draft has three or four or five quarterbacks. It
is fascinating. If you're wondering why these teams keep signing Kawai,

(11:29):
they wouldn't if there was somebody else out there that
was eighty percent as good and could play.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
It's just again, Jenny, Jimmy Butler's are out there by
the way. The stories Jeff t who you know, you
know over it now where you walk with the vine
like he told the story, were Jimmy Butler in practice
Like he didn't want to practice, so he said, you
know what, I'm not running with the first team. I'm
going to take these guys who are probably not even
gonna make the roster. We're gonna go up against Carl
Anthony Towns in the first team. And Jimmy Butler took

(11:53):
these cast offs and smoked them. Jeff te told the
story on a podcast, and you're just like Jimmy Butler
is that guy. He can do whatever he wants on
a court.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
I do, but when you're consistently not available and beads consistently,
that's it's I don't have an answer to anything, but
I do think it's interesting that these teams re signed
players and give them fifty million a year and their
year after year after year not there, not even performing party.
Somebody said on our staff yesterday, the last twenty one

(12:24):
playoff games Kawhi could have played in, he's played in four.

Speaker 3 (12:28):
I heard that. That's insane. I'll ask you. Butler loved
his time in Minnesota with Thibodeaux, and he didn't.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
Like, he doesn't fit this team. No no, no, his
ant's team, no one, no no.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
I said in New York with Thibodeau. Could he go
to the Knicks fit in perfectly with Brunson and the
Villanova guys. Is there a world where Miami accept the
deal for Julius Randall Mitchell Robinson in five draft picks
and pat Rileyck had started replenish Jimmy Butler with Jalen Brunson.
Is the two that's amazing?

Speaker 1 (13:00):
That is really But now I'm not saying Josh Hart
is Jimmy Butler, but the team already has a roster
full of grinders. Butler is a great grinder. Like I
feel like what they need is just a real easy buck,
like the guy for Phoenix Booker that feels like the
perfect fit catch and shoot, like like a young Klay

(13:21):
Thompson who's a willing defender, doesn't need the ego, doesn't
need to take the ball out of Jalen's hand. Just
a guy that gets you twenty four easy points a night.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
Only problem with that is you've got to kind of
break up the Vincenzo or Hart. I don't want to,
I don't need.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
But how about this though?

Speaker 3 (13:39):
How about this argument?

Speaker 1 (13:41):
This argument is the the East is awful this year
and will be considerably better next year. That if you
move Josh Hart you are selling at a high like
this is not what he is. The smart investor is
selling Josh Hart stock the minute they can.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
You know how tough it is to sell to your
fan base the best team we've had in this century
and we've got to trade one of them.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
And people in Denver were really upset that Tebow was
leaving until Peyton Manning arrived. If you brought Booker in
for Josh Hart, people get over it in about one second.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
So like Randall Hart five draft picks, whatever it is.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
But like you the Knicks right now, the dummy is like,
this is who we are. The smart investors like, you're
getting double Josh Hart done what he is statistically, you
know you're right. That's you got to move people when
you can.

Speaker 3 (14:36):
That's good business.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
By the way, the Miami Heat do this historically. Spolster
gets a ton out of them. Then the Lakers come
and say, give us gave Vinson and we didn't get
the same guy. It's like the Raiders, by the way,
get Gardner Minshew because Shane Steiken is a brilliant coach,
and so people look at Ballard and Stikeen. You know,
all of a sudden, you watch Gardner, You're likely you're

(14:59):
not gonna get that guy with Raiders can get the
defensive culture. Now you're not getting Gardner Minshew Colts with
the Raiders.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
I like, hey, you save your best stuff for the
Power Hour. Well done, final story. Now this is fascinating.
Just broke here in the last thirty minutes. The Cincinnati
Bungles have lost Tyler Boyd. He is signing a one year,
four and a half million dollar deal with the Titans,
reunited with coach Brian Callahan, who was Boyd's oc with
the Bengals since twenty nineteen. Good signing by the Boyd
is good. Unappreciated. No, listen, he's next to Higgins and Chase.

(15:28):
He's a perfect slot guy. Yep. I'm just telling you
this Titans wide receiving group for Will Levis is legit. Okay,
Andre Hopkins, Calvin Ridley who they signed to a big
money deal, Treylon Burkes, who we like, who was the
first round pick, who's been good, add some injury history,
and now Tyler Boyd. That's for legit receivers. Look, I'm sorry, guys,
they have some. We're gonna find out if Will Levis.
You know what I like, Tennessee is doing here.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
So Tennessee hires an offensive coach and stacks the deck offensively.
They're gonna find out by Thanksgiving if Will Levis can play.
So that's the problem the Giants had is there. You
didn't have enough pieces around him to know if Daniel
Jones could play or not you thought he couldn't.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
The Bears did this.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
Ryan Pohle said, Hey, we're gonna find out if Justin
can play. Let's get him DJ Moore, Let's get him
two tight ends. Let's draft the old line they gave
him all the now some Chase Claypool didn't work. But
the Bears were like, we gotta find out if Justin
can play, So let's stack the deck offensively. That's what
the Titans are doing. So they're saying, listen, if it
doesn't work with Will, the next guy's gonna say, give
me some of that. But they're gonna find out. If

(16:30):
you can't move the ball with that receiving corps, then
you're not the guy.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
You're not the guy in that comp So here's the thing.
That division is tough, and I'm not ready to based
on what they've got. Even Pollard and I like ty J. Spears.
The young running back. They've got enough guys to surprise
the people who win some games. If Levis can give
you any.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
Last year, the Titans had one receiver with over thirty catches.
Now they have d Hop, Boyd Burk's the kid from Arkansas.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
We like Ridley is a legit number one in this league.
I think he's a number one. Now. I know some
people push.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
Back and this is suddenly. Now if you go look
at this receiving corps. Now, could I say this top
six receiving corn.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
Well, you just if you look at those four guys,
there's not many teams. But better than that, the Dallas
Cowboys would kill Dak Prescott would kill for that group
break there. He's got nothing compared to those guys. That's
a legit. I mean, de Hop is a borderline. I
don't know if he's a Hall of Famer, but he's
got a good resume. Calvin Releases, I think he's a one.
Burke's has shown flashes and I like Boyd Burks good player.
That's a that's a that's a group.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
Now.

Speaker 3 (17:29):
I haven't seen the defense, but if will will Levis,
you're gonna have a chance. Like he's got a better
shot to succeed this year.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
Than like, David, are you a Will Levis guy?

Speaker 3 (17:37):
I kind of am, because you were so against him
for the Gun Show selfie.

Speaker 1 (17:40):
But he's not a gun show guy. You like to
show off. You go to the beach with a tank
top on. Of course, I go to the grocery store.
I go off to the beach with corduroy pants and
a pisshouse. You and I are different cats. Jane Mack
with the News, Well that's the news, and thanks for
stopping by the news. So gun show guy likes Gunshow guy.

(18:05):
I'm not anti Will Levis, but it just feels like
the wrong stuff matters a little bit, a little bit.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
Don't tell me you don't hit the gym and work
on the show muscles.

Speaker 1 (18:16):
No, I don't. I was at the gym yesterday for
fifteen minutes. I didn't work on a single show muscle.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
What are you working on? Quads? I don't know. I
just work out.

Speaker 1 (18:26):
I don't you know. My thing is I go in, work,
get out. I don't like talking at the gym.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
You're not talking to guys. Guy's coming up.

Speaker 1 (18:32):
I just go in, grind, get out.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
Do you get any of this? Say Why do you
keep taking shots at no, I don't or do you
hate get that?

Speaker 1 (18:39):
You know what I get a lot of times? Why
don't you talk more on your show?

Speaker 3 (18:43):
We liked when you talk for hot water that never
runs out.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
Go tankless with Navvy and fifteen year warranty, wash the dog,
multiple loads of laundry dishwasher doesn't matter. They only heat
it when you need it. The hot water never runs out.
Tanklessmade simple dot Com.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
Navian be sure to catch live editions of The Herd

Speaker 7 (19:07):
Hey, I'm Doug Gottlieb. The podcast is called All Ball.
We usually talk all basketball all the time, but it's
more about the stories about what made these people love
their sport and all the interesting interactions along the way.
We talked to coaches, we talked to players, We tell
you stories. You download it, you listen to it.

Speaker 3 (19:27):
I think you like it.

Speaker 7 (19:28):
Listen to All Ball with Doug Gottlieb on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
Hi, welcome back.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
It's crazy.

Speaker 1 (19:40):
We had Nick ride on a couple hours ago, and
you know I asked him. You know it seems like
in the seventies you never had a dynasty, so every
year you had different people winning. And it feels like
when I watched Minnesota last night over Denver, I'm like,
are we moving back into the seventies where Bucks will
get one, Warriors or get one. Maybe the Celtics will

(20:00):
eventually get one, and we'll just have a bunch of
different teams that win. Because I thought Denver had a
chance to be the Spurs. So I asked Nick, right,
did I did we overvalue the greatness of Denver?

Speaker 6 (20:13):
International player wins two MVPs but doesn't break through in
the postseason. Then finally, the year after he wins the
second MVP, finally wins a championship. Is dominant from start
to finish of those playoffs, and it feels like, well,
who's going to stop this guy? I just told the

(20:33):
story of Yannis, not Jokic, But now all of a sudden,
it feels like the stories might be a little more
similar because Janni's the next year, they looked like they
were gonna win the title, and then Chris Middleton gets dinged.
Jason Tatum, to his credit, has the game of his
life in a Game six, they lose Game seven because
Boston hits a million threes. They've not been out of

(20:54):
the first round since. A Bucks team that looked like
they were poised to be the team team since they
won the title has not played a single conference finals game.
The Nuggets looked like the team to beat all year,
and now all of a sudden are facing an O
two hole, just got absolutely dog walked in their building

(21:18):
in a must win game when the other team's best
defensive player wasn't there, And you start to ask some
really tough questions. We always assume the team that just
won is going to just keep winning, but to your point,
it actually hasn't happened over the last half decade. And
so yeah, I'm not going to act as if the
Nuggets are, you know, some wildly flawed team, but I

(21:42):
don't think they're going to win this series. And then
you never know. When when Milwaukee was up three to
two one Boston is the defending champs, it looked like, well,
you know, they've got the best player, he's playing great,
They're just gonna win again. Who's gonna stop them? They
have not been close since then, and they made a
maybe panic trade and remade their team. The other question

(22:04):
I have about this series is this Colin and the
people are gonna say I'm being unfair, But once again,
I think I'm the only fair person out there. Heavy
as the head that wears the crown. Is it fair
to ask can we hold Nikolajokic, soon to be three
time MVP universally accepted best player in the world. Can

(22:27):
he be held to at least as hard of a
standard as we hold thirty nine year old oldest player
in the league Lebron James too? Can we Is it
fair to say that Joker needed to be better last
night in a must win game? Is it fair to
say that we just watched Anthony Davis score at will
in round one, and now in Jokers defense, has somehow

(22:48):
gotten worse than round two. Every other guy who has
been up to this point, Lebron Durant, Steph, those guys Yannis,
when they all of a sudden have not shown up
in the playoffs. If that has happened, they have gotten crushed.
And even if they have shown up, they but they lose.

(23:10):
They have been harshly criticized. The discussion surrounding Jokics this
year has been is he going to run down shack
A Keen and Larry Bird in the all time rankings. Well,
then he better be masterful over these next ten days,
because this is a really tough one to swallow right now.

Speaker 1 (23:30):
You know, it's interesting sometimes the media does this. They're
trying to offer protection for somebody that doesn't need it.
Mike Conley said, yeah, he looks like MJ to me,
and I read these media people whoa slow down on
the comps. That's not fair. Oh he's literally saying I
want to dominate KD and did He plays like him.

(23:53):
He's vertical, he's aggressive, He's a good defender, maybe better
than good. He is now like Jordan become really efficient,
almost more so in the playoffs than the regular season.
And I watch him and I'm like, oh, this mid
range game, the fallaway stuff, it's like the trash talking. Yeah,
it's like Dominique or Michael, but it feels more Michael
than Dominique. I trust his jumper more. I don't think

(24:14):
he needs protection. Kobe leaned into the Michael stuff, Tiger
leaned into the Jack Nicholas stuff, like I'm okay saying,
I'm not saying he's gonna be Michael aesthetically in everything,
but that's got an MJ field to it is not.

Speaker 6 (24:28):
Oh, listen, there's a lot of similarities, but to be
fair to both players, there's a lot of differences. Obviously
Michael six rings, five MVPs. Anthony's got a long way
to go. Also obviously in Anthony's favor, Anthony's twenty two
and about to make the conference finals at you know,
at twenty two, Jordan was getting bounced in the sweet sixteen.
I just to be fair, we're gonna say that we're

(24:50):
gonna be an honest portrayal of the history here. Jordan
didn't win his first series till he was twenty five
years old. You know, Anthony Edwards already got that under
his belt. So there's similarities in different between the two.
But ant is listen, and it's funny because he said
six hours before this game, stop with the Jordan comparisons,

(25:11):
and then he literally did the Jordan shrug. They direct
and so I think Aunt knows what he's doing. Yes,
I also think that there's nothing he can do about
the fact that their games are. He has a very
similar game to young Michael, except with a far better

(25:32):
outside shot. Now there's just there are a lot of
ways for him to grow, and we'll see what these
next steps are. But if the NBA needs this from
Anthony Edwards, Yes, I love Luca and I think Luca
might be able to I think the MAVs. I think
there's a world that exists where the Turmberwolves Nuggets series

(25:54):
ends up being a war and whoever comes out of
it the Mavericks end up beating and I think that
could be actually Luca's time to make his first NBA
finals when nobody seems really to be talking about. I
know j Max been big on Luca being the best
player all year, and I think that take might end
up aging quite well. But as much as I love
Luca and as brilliant as Joker is offensively right or wrong,

(26:19):
the NBA needs one of these homegrown guys yes to
be on that level, and he's the only one that
I think can do it. He's the only twenty something
year old American player that I think does have best
player a live ability.

Speaker 1 (26:35):
Yeah, and I think the NBA style matters. It doesn't.
In the NFL, Brady didn't have a style. He was
almost robotic at times. He was efficient in the NBA
it's more about art. Style absolutely matters, you know. Again,
it doesn't really engulf or if you're you know, big
strong off the t's cool, but you got to win
majors ant scott style and flair. And it's fun to wa.

(26:56):
I like Luca, it's not as much fun to watch.
I like yokich a lot. It's not that fun to watch.
This is dynamic fun. It's good TV. Now here's the
other thing we were talking about. J McK and I
were that you gotta be very careful screwing with a
Knicks and I compared it a while ago, about an
hour ago, to a fidget spinner. When the fidget spinner
got popular in America, I was like, there's no there there.

(27:17):
That's not sustainable. There's nothing to it. The Rubik's Cube
was kind of matthey, and I'm like, this can't last forever.
And I said, the Knicks have become that. I'm like
Josh Hart, this is not what he is. Brunson's not MJ.
This team's not this good. And you stop playing guy.
I mean, like three Villanova guys scored ninety two points
and I say to myself, this is the fidget spinner.
We're all gonna get it's gonna we're gonna go. This

(27:39):
is nonsense.

Speaker 3 (27:40):
And then I keep watching him in a way thing
it never happens. So what are the Knicks?

Speaker 6 (27:46):
I mean a son of a gun to play man,
A team that no matter what happen, pardon me, happens
over the first forty five minutes of action, the game's
gonna be tied with three minutes left, and good luck, man,
I mean, that's what it is like. NBA Twitter great
and also does a great radio show on Serious Rob

(28:08):
Perez Worldwide wib who's a diehard NBA fan, but a
Knicks fan through and through. He's been saying it all year,
just like playing the Knicks, Welcome to hell. We'll see
at the finish line. That's how they play now and Bruns,
what Brunson is doing is truly historic. The guys with

(28:30):
four straight or more forty point playoff games it's now Brunson,
Bernard King, MJ, and Jerry West. Jerry West actually did
it six straight times, but he lost a bunch of finals,
so I guess he's disqualified from any of the conversations.
He's pretty damn good. If you read your history books,
about the league. Brunson also though the game before the
forty point Street started, He's scored thirty nine. He is

(28:55):
their offense. Everyone knows it, and they nobody can stop him.
Now do I think that if they get to Boston,
which I think they will, that they are going to
be able to deal with Boston's length and the fact
that Boston has been basically will likely have been resting

(29:15):
for a few days, gone through too easy series, and
the Knicks will have just gone through hell to get
there playing I mean, Josh Hart, this playoffs is averaging
averaging forty seven minutes per game. Does that feel sustainable
for four rounds? It doesn't, but they keep winning. Man
and Brunson is last night fan Duel and DraftKings. All

(29:40):
the sportsbooks had his over under for points Colin going
into the game. It was an even money bet on
either side. He's as likely to go over as under
at thirty seven and a half. They went into a
playoff game like, yeah, we expect Jalen's gonna get thirty seven,
thirty eight and the overhit like it is. It is

(30:00):
remarkable what they're doing and they have taken on.

Speaker 1 (30:04):
This is like the.

Speaker 6 (30:05):
Perfect TIBs team. They are as fun to watch as
any Knicks team of my life since really the Spree
well Allen Houston ninety nine team, which I thought was great,
they ended up losing in the finals to the Spurs.
I think they'll make the conference finals. It would be
crazy to pick them over Boston. But man, oh man,

(30:27):
I don't think Boston's looking forward to that matchup.

Speaker 3 (30:30):
I'll tell you that much.

Speaker 1 (30:32):
I actually think the Knicks could give Boston some issues.
Porzingis coming off an injury, They're rested. They haven't played
this level of intensity. Boston's deeper, We've seen that throughout
the course of the year. But again, the New York
Knicks would be playing with house money, total underdogs, j
Mack do give. I think New York could push them
six and I think the games would be mostly close.

(30:52):
You're not blowing the Knicks out. They played too hard,
too relentless. You're not blowing the Knicks out. The games
are going to be reasonably close. And the one thing
I worry about Boston is closing games. That's the one
thing I don't worry about the Knicks.

Speaker 3 (31:05):
You and this Jason Tatum to dislike, and I mean listen,
all the numbers say the Celtics will steamroll the Calves
and then they will obliterate the Knicks.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
That's what the numbers. Obliterate means five games, three blowout wins.

Speaker 3 (31:18):
I think the Knicks. If the Knicks could push them six,
it would be amazing. But I think five is realistic
for the Knicks, assuming they got by the Pacers.

Speaker 1 (31:25):
I'm just saying, you have the you have the Jets
winning the AFC and the East, and then you look
at the Knicks and you're like, I'm very much a skeptic. Well,
they are one of the best fourth quarter teams left
in the playoffs. They are so good they have almost
no bad possessions with six minutes to go. Every time
they come down and this is Brunson, they get great

(31:45):
looks every single time. That's hard to do in the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
You know, they've also played what how many games? Do
they played? Six or seven playoff games that are all
close in the fourth quarter. Yeah, and their starters are
playing like forty three minutes.

Speaker 1 (31:56):
They have no bench.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
That's not suspect.

Speaker 1 (31:58):
The bench can't score.

Speaker 3 (32:00):
Well, I like McBride, they just Thibodeau doesn't trust his
bench that much.

Speaker 1 (32:05):
Most Steve Kerr ever trusted his. A lot of veteran
coaches don't trust their bad.

Speaker 3 (32:09):
You just can't play these guys forty forty five, forty eight.
They keep doing it and winning. Okay for now. Now
there is only one day off between games like Denver.
Minnesota has I think two or three days all their
Friday right, So it's like, it's just I don't know that.
The Knicks are a lot to get by the Pacers.
I'll just leave it at that.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
Pacers play nine guys. You love the Knicks, I do,
and I am much more positive about the Knicks than
you are.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
The Knicks have killed me multiple times over the year.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
Yeah, but they weren't this No, the coach, the symmetry,
the players, they could really use a bench score.

Speaker 3 (32:41):
They don't have it, and they're on their way.

Speaker 1 (32:45):
It's the herd.
