Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Back here on the Herd.

Speaker 4 (00:25):
And we've got a great guest in studio. You know him,
the Bear, Chris Felika. He's on Big Noon Kickoff. He
has a podcast, Bear Bets Chris enjoying the Euros and
he's a Jets fan. So we'll do a little NFL gambling.
But let's start with soccer in the US. Lay a
massive egg, Chris. However, we were just looking at the
art during the commercial break this match against Uruguay.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
Things could get interesting. Tell us your thoughts.

Speaker 5 (00:51):
Yeah, I was a little surprised. You asked, you know
what the number is and I hadn't sound yet, but
I just saw you was actually slightly favored on the
three way to win, which implies I think that Uguay
maybe sitting a bunch of players because the group is
essentially wrapped up anyone's sitting on a yellow car, they
might want to just get that out of the way
before we head into the Nackay rounds. But it is

(01:12):
important to win to win the group, just to get
the weaker of the opponents from the other group. But
the fact that the odds bakers have the US is
a slight favorite puts a little bit of a thought
in the back of my head. Maybe the US has
a better chance than a lot of people immediate knee
jerk reaction after look, it was a dumb play by way,

(01:32):
they actually did make some good adjustments and then they
scored a rocket late late in the match to win.
So remember they did get a result against Brazil and
the friendlies. This is not like it's not like they
can't walk out of here with the point. So I
think maybe, yes, it feels like doom and gloom right now, Yes,
but I think there might be a chance that the
US actually does manage to get a point out of
this and move on.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
It is interesting.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
I saw Messi as sitting, Argentina is through and Messi
is resting.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
So there's a world where Uruguay says, you know what,
let's that seems.

Speaker 5 (01:59):
To be Maybe a little bit bigger deal than maybe me.
People have caught on, like there are a lot of
our Argentine news outlets that think that he may not
only sit the third group match, he may sit the
quarters because I guess that adductor issue is a real problem. Yeah,
do some some searching on social media and there's some
people who are kind of embedded with with with the

(02:21):
Argentine team that that think that there's a really good
chance he may sit until the semies because if you
look at who Argentina may play in the quarterfinals, they
get the weaker team from that group, so they are
on the easier half of the drug. They don't need him.
They don't need him in the quarterfinal to beat whoever
the runner up is in that group.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
Briefly, Mexican USA was a disappointment yesterday, but they were
down to ten guys.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Mexico has just been a mess.

Speaker 5 (02:44):
They have been, but that was trended before the before
Colby America, they had gotten some horrible results, losing badly
in a lot of the friendlies, and this was something
we were discussing prior to Cobble, Like Mexico is in
a spot where yeah, I don't think they want to
admit that this is kind of a trial run dress

(03:06):
rehearsal to build towards the World Cup, like they always
are going to expect that nation's going to expect them
to get out of this group, and the fact that
they're probably not going to it is a massive failure.
But if you look at the makeup of the team
and then the injuried Edson Alvarez just just a problem.
You're a team in transition right now. So I am
personally not surprised that they're probably not going to get

(03:27):
out of the group, but I think in that country
right now, it's probably not a good situation.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
Yeah, listen, I don't want to make this a hot
take issue, but if Berholter and the US don't beat Uruguay,
you gotta cut him loose, right, You gotta move on.

Speaker 5 (03:44):
I am not an expert in tactics, and who is
a better candidate potentially to take that job. I wonder
if it's too late in the game right now to
make that, To make that move. You brought him back
for a reason. You brought him back, presumably because you
felt he was the best man the time to get
them not only ready for Coup America, but for the
World Cup. So now less than two years before World

(04:06):
Cup twenty twenty six, you're going to just completely pull
the plug and run him out. I don't think it's
gonna happen. I think he stays and it'll probably be
a bad news cycle for a couple of weeks, but
I do think he will be the coach for Tea.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
It's interesting, Okay, a little disagreement, but that says, fine,
let's go to the Euros.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
You're picking Spain to win the whole. I think they've
looked incredible.

Speaker 5 (04:26):
They have looked incredible, and this is I think the
best thing about Spain is that this is not the
type of football that they played in twenty ten when
they won the World Cup and when they won the Euros.
Will all the short passes. They have attackers right now,
Nico Williams and Yamin Lamal who are just fantastic young players,

(04:47):
rodri and Peedrie. As someone who had been hurt on
the under for his group Devil teams or for his
club level teams rather throughout the year, the fact that
they are healthy now they attack. They look like a
very dangerous team. It's unfortunate for the soccer fans that
you have Germany, Spain, Portugal and France all on that
same side of the draw, that you can't get a

(05:08):
final between those two of those four teams. But I
think Spain is ultimately the team from that side of
the bracket that do make it through.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
England's chances. They haven't looked great, No, they haven't.

Speaker 5 (05:19):
They've looked really poor offensively. Defensively, they've looked really good
with Stones and Gahee, but still it's like the square
peg round hole. I get the math of it that
they're still favored to win the competition a plus three fifty,
but I think that's a byproduct of being on that
side of the draw with the seemingly easier path to

(05:39):
get there. I couldn't play them at plus three fifty
to win. I actually played Netherlands to reach the final
at plus three fifty. They're on that side of the
draw as well. They would presumably would have to play
the England Italy winner. If you look at the Dutch,
they're a team that they lost probably the batch of
the tournament so far to Austria three two. But they

(06:00):
should beat Romania then they'll likely get a rematch with
Austria and the quarters and then you'd be sitting in
the semis. And I think between the defense that they have,
they didn't play great defensively. I think they'll shure that up.
Cody Gokpo has been really good. The path for the
Dutch is a really good one to take a shot
on somebody if you're looking to fade England like I am.

Speaker 4 (06:21):
I remember they were amazing against Argentina, maybe the best
match outside of the final against France in the World Cup.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
All right, let's pivot to the NFL. Aaron Rodgers Jets.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
I don't know if I want to just wind you
up and let you go, but mvs. Quarter kind of
broke some news on the show yesterday said he came
out to La called Aaron Rodgers and he was catching
passes from so we know Rogers is back. He skipped
mini camp last week for this Egypt trip.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
I don't know. We had Tory Holt on earlier. It
was like, dude, unless it's family related, you got to
be there. It's June. I don't want you to get
two worked up. But as a longtime Jets.

Speaker 5 (06:56):
Fan, if you have an opportunity to go to each
I just in Egypt last month as well. I wish
I would have known I could have gone with him. Wait, wait,
it would have been great. You have an opportunity to
go to Egypt instead of mini camp. I'm going to
Egypt every every time. It's not a big deal. Tory
Alt has a lot more experience within a locker room
in mini camps than I do. But I can't see
that being an issue in June before the regular camp

(07:20):
gets going. He just came back from his injury. I
have no I have no concerns that this is going
to be an issue moving forward.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
I like the optimism, but look.

Speaker 5 (07:31):
The optimism is a scary thing because I might I
can't remember if I texted you or if I texted
a bunch of other of my Jets fan's friends in
early August about how I am so excited for this season,
I can't wait. I am all in, And then literally
four plays into the season, it was like, this is
why where we are the Jets.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
So you know, I know everybody likes Buffalo.

Speaker 4 (07:51):
They've had so much turnover the defense, Miami lost like
six starters.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
I don't think they're gonna be great.

Speaker 5 (07:58):
Their schedule is brutal, Patriots will the rightist teams in
the league.

Speaker 4 (08:01):
So the Jets are winning this division, assuming Rogers doesn't
go down with it.

Speaker 5 (08:04):
They probably should. Yeah, like it's scary. It's scary as
a Jets fan to have that type of optimism. The
key's going to be what happens after the game against
San Francisco to start the year, because after that you
get the Titans, who are a terrible team, the Patriots
who are a terrible team, the Broncos, who are a
terrible team to get you get a bunch of bad
teams in a row to be able to rebound. So

(08:25):
hopefully that if they do go to San Francisco and
lose those next three or four games, which are all winnable,
they don't get b twente.

Speaker 4 (08:33):
I think the Jets are favored in twelve or thirteen
games this season. Makes sense like there are gonna be
eleven win team and probably win the division.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
I don't want to go overboard.

Speaker 4 (08:41):
With the Super Bowl, but let me ask, speaking of
Super Bowl Kansas City Chiefs three pt.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
I think there's just no way it happens. Am I
missing something?

Speaker 5 (08:51):
It's one of those things that as a better as
a handicapper, there's some bets you like to make and
have in pocket, and betting the Chiefs to win the
Super Bowl is one of those. It's one of those
things that you can have an opportunity later in the
season to just get off it and find the other team.
But the fact that they won last year with that
wide receiver room and that group of running backs ultimate

(09:13):
later in the year is incredible. At one point, sure,
you would think that they're gonna lose and maybe they
won't have a home playoff game to be able to
get there. But they didn't last year. Well, they did
against Miami in the fourteam.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
Below whatever it was.

Speaker 5 (09:26):
But as long as that guy's under center, that they
had a chance every single year.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
Yeah, that Ravens game is still one of the most
mystifying results.

Speaker 5 (09:36):
It was amable. Watching the Ravens offense that day was
just absolutely mind numbing compared to how they.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
Had been I had a Ravens ticket. I don't know
if you were on them that day.

Speaker 5 (09:44):
I was not. I actually was on the under that day.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
Okay, which worked out. Yeah, that definitely did.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
Be sure to catch live editions of the Herd weekdays
in neond Easter, not a em Pacific.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
So what about NFC.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
It feels like all signs point to Niners Lion in
the NFC Championship.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
Anybody could crash that party.

Speaker 5 (10:02):
Do I'm not as high on the Falcons as a
lot of people. Oh yeah, I think that if you
are a little bit of a contrarian better, if you're
looking at fading the Falcons, you're probably going to get
some some very nice numbers. I think defensively that probably
still have some problems. I didn't understand drafting panics where
they did. I would rather dress someone who could actually

(10:22):
contribute to that because you would be in a position
to win that division. But I think the Falcons are
this year is very trendy team, and usually if you
have an opportunity to get to to wait for the
public and better is to drive numbers up and go
the other way. I think there's an opportunity on the
other side to maybe get a good value against the Falcons.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
You said trendy.

Speaker 4 (10:42):
I think last year that was the Saints and I
was on that train and it spectacularly failed.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
I am curious.

Speaker 4 (10:48):
Adam Turnoff was on here a couple months back at
because he liked the Panthers to go over and his
group kind of moved the win total from four and
a half to I think five and a half.

Speaker 5 (10:57):
Oh yeah, no, yeah, they are those guys sharp, and
they like the Panthers. I worry about Bryce Young, Oh yeah,
I didn't. Initially last year. I was wanted, Like I
remember having conversations with people, Oh which quarterback do you
like more? Bryce Er or CJ? And I was like
Bryce Young the Lee processes, and I think, but I

(11:17):
don't know if it was a byproduct of them just
being terrible and they're being no talent around him and
coaching upheaval. But until I see it, I want but
he's got a better He's got a better offensive coach.
Now he does have some more talent around him, so
we'll see. I'm rooting for him, but but I would
be a little concerned until I actually see him take

(11:40):
that next step.

Speaker 4 (11:41):
All right, let's pivot to college football. You've been covering
the sport forever, obviously Ohio State. I just read an
article they may set the record next year for the
most first round draft picks. They're just stacked beyond belief.
So is that a ticket Alex Curry should have in
her pocket when she goes to Vegas this weekend. Uh.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
I only think. I think that if you were having
Ohio State in Georgia versus the field, that would be
a bet that I would make, Like Ohio State has
the most talent in the in the Big Ten, I wonder.
I get a sense that coming out of spring camp,
though they weren't fully convinced on will Howard moving forward,

(12:19):
I almost get the sense that at some point in
the year, Julian's saying the red shirt freshman, I think
he is now he may take over. I actually be
actually bet him but one hundred to want to win
the hides I did. Look. I think I think there's
an opportunity for him early in the year. Again, they
play nobody until they play like Oregon, and you should

(12:40):
get it lailater in the year. So there's a chance
he could come in, get some big numbers as a
backup and maybe create this debate, create this competition where
maybe saying moving forward is the better guy, but it
doesn't matter until later and they're going to be in
the playoff. They are loaded all over. Defensively, they are loaded.

(13:00):
I think they have more talent than Georgia. I think
the schedule is easier. There's an opportunity for Georgia potentially
to lose two or three games in the regular season
because they got Alabama, they got Texas, they got All
miss they got Tennessee, they got other really good team.
But they'll still make the playoff. But Ohio State is
a deserving favor to win it all.

Speaker 4 (13:18):
The twelve team playoff, you know, where are young and
that kind of changes a little bit with the gambling
in the future.

Speaker 5 (13:25):
Does It does? Because I think if you talk to
people like who are the four teams, who are the
teams that you think can win the national championship, it's
obviously Ohio State and Georgia one to two. And then
I think the third and fourth teams out of everybody's
mouths are Oregon in Texas. Yeah, And I think what
people need to understand is with the twelve team playoff, now,

(13:46):
of those four teams, two of them are not going
to get a bye in that first round because the
conference champions get to buy So either Texas or Georgia
or Ohio State or Oregon will have to wind up
playing that first round game somewhere to get to the quarterfinals.
Because of the structure of the playoffs, So will that
ultimately matter, Who knows, But that could be an extra

(14:08):
hurdle for one of those four teams. But Oregon is
a team that I love that I've loved them for years,
and I don't think they're going to have an issue
moving to the Big Ten at all. The way Mario
Cristobal built that team the difference with Oregon and some
of the other teams that were in the Pac Twelve.
They are built well in the trenches, offensive line, defensive line,

(14:29):
and now moving into the Big Ten. They have a
quarterback who Gilden Gabriel, who was on what it's fourth
different team now I think, who seem seems like he's
been in college football forever. But the experience there, the
experience and depth in the trenches that makes them a
super a really really big contender in that league. And
they get the Buckeyes in at Austin, which if you
can get a ticket to that game, go It's one

(14:51):
of the best environments in college football. Eugene, Oregon can
be a difficult place to get to as a fan,
but once you get there, it was my favorite place
to go for all the years I've been government Sports.

Speaker 6 (15:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (15:02):
Nice, we could wrap up any other sleepers as Alex
heads to Vegas this weekend.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
And Heisman team's a long shot to win the Natty. Well.

Speaker 5 (15:10):
I think I mentioned Julian saying about a hundred he
was about one hundred to one to win the Heighs
when he would be someone I might be, should should do.

Speaker 4 (15:18):
No.

Speaker 5 (15:19):
I just don't think their record is going to be
good enough even in the even in the Big Twelve,
which but I think the Big twelve is just interesting
because one of those teams is going to get a bye,
and they're all like Oklahoma State, Kansas, Kansas State, They're
all kind of the same thing. I guess if you're
looking for a sleeper team to throw some money on,
I guess Penn State might be that team in the

(15:39):
Big Ten. Uh, it depends if Drew Aller can maybe
make that leap forward.

Speaker 4 (15:44):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (15:45):
He struggled at times last year. He looked really into indecisive.
But they're another team with talent, and uh, it's it's
a big year because I think the Penn State and
Lion fans are kind of waiting for them to build
on what happened a few years back. When when when
they want to win in the Rose Bowl and looking
for a big marquee win under James Franklin. So if

(16:05):
you're looking to throw a dart at the bigger price,
Penn State might not be the worst pick.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
Nitny Lyons.

Speaker 4 (16:09):
There you go, Chris the Bear Felika obviously download Bear
Bets podcast with Jeff Schwartz and Fox Big Noon Kickoff.

Speaker 3 (16:16):
Great stuff, Chris.

Speaker 5 (16:17):
Thanks buddy, appreciate you any time.

Speaker 3 (16:19):
All right, let's go to Alex Curry with the news.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
No, no, this is the headline news.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
Just to let you know.

Speaker 7 (16:27):
I was taking notes through all of that, Chris, like
literally everything.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
Win the division.

Speaker 8 (16:36):
You too, and the bouncing back.

Speaker 5 (16:39):
Do you like that? No? Oh no, I'm ony real,
I'm ony there.

Speaker 6 (16:45):
Dang.

Speaker 7 (16:47):
All right, well, let's start in the NFL because the
Cardinals will have a lot of star power at wide receiver.
After taking Marvin Harris Junior with a fourth overall pick,
the rookie is currently plus seven fifty for offensive Rookie
of the Year, the third best. It's behind Caleb Williams
and Jaden Daniels. Adding to his star quality, Harrison Junior
signed a deal with New Balance earlier this offseason and

(17:09):
will be the face of their first ever football cleat
coming out this year. Now that's a big deal as
a rookie being the face of the first ever New
Balance football clea, I mean New Balance goes. They've been
going big with their stars. They signed shohe O Tani
as the face of their shoe for Major League Baseball,

(17:31):
So this is a big deal. Marvin Harrison Junior is
the face for football and the new cleat. I mean
he's expected to be the top receiver after the draft class.
It's going to be with Kyler Murray. We were talking
about him yesterday. Kind of a dark horse to have.

Speaker 8 (17:46):
A great season after.

Speaker 7 (17:49):
After being having a healthy offseason and hopefully again it's
all going to come down to can't you stay healthy
throughout the season.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
Yeah, this is great for Harrison. I'm a fan. This
guy was a tremendous at OWHII date. Obviously his dad
a legendary football player. Yep, I don't.

Speaker 4 (18:04):
I think I have one pair of New Balance I
was gifted to Kawhi Leonards New Balance shoes.

Speaker 7 (18:08):
They're coming back with some trendy like walking shoes.

Speaker 3 (18:14):
Do they have a big N on them like his guy?

Speaker 4 (18:16):
I don't like, I'm not advertising for you guys, like
I like an understated like, I don't wear anything with
the big swoosh.

Speaker 8 (18:23):
You know, that's just you. You're not a logo guy.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
No, okay, are they paying me to advertise with them? Nobody?
This is not mine. I'm a fan, not my Jim,
I'm a fan.

Speaker 7 (18:33):
All right, Well, let's talk about one team you're a
fan of. The Knicks already have three Villanova alums on
the roster and got.

Speaker 8 (18:41):
The nickname the Nova Knicks.

Speaker 7 (18:44):
The New York traded for Mikhail Bridges earlier this week,
and once the trade officially goes through, all four players
will have one at least one national title playing under
Jay Wright and he was speaking to The New York
Post and called it the opportunity of a lifetime for
his former players. I mean, it's a rare opportunity to
get the band back together again from college to the NBA.

(19:07):
We've been talking about it. They're going all in on chemistry.
That's something you can't really again, rare opportunity. You can't
teach that. Bringing it from college to the NBA.

Speaker 8 (19:17):
Is it gonna work out? Nobody knows.

Speaker 7 (19:19):
But it's also the first trade between the New York
rival since nineteen eighty three, which is a big deal.

Speaker 8 (19:26):
I think it's gonna work.

Speaker 3 (19:27):
So this is cool.

Speaker 4 (19:29):
So Lebron and his son are getting pushed as like historic.
Wouldn't it be historic if these guys won a title
of Villanova and then one one in the NBA that
would be some historical stain. Now that's a big leap
for them to make from conference semifinals. It adding a
no time All Star to suddenly winning the Chip. But
again I said yesterday, I think they match up very
well with Boston. I think they're the clear number two

(19:51):
team in the East, and they're not far behind the Celtics.

Speaker 7 (19:53):
No, their third best odds to win the title behind
the Celtics and Nuggets at plus eight fifty.

Speaker 4 (19:58):
Right now, and now Thibodau will have his full roster.
Y not get drive guys into the ground.

Speaker 8 (20:03):
They dealt with a lot of injuries.

Speaker 7 (20:04):
He didn't have Julius Randall, and then like adding Bridges,
who hasn't missed a single game in his career.

Speaker 8 (20:10):
It's a big deal.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
There's a lot of jobs here was playing like every
minute of everything. He's gonna be coming off the bench
for them.

Speaker 4 (20:16):
There's a big chake they're gonna be It's very exciting
time to be a Knicks fan.

Speaker 8 (20:19):
Yeah, it's gonna be exciting. I'm happy for you.

Speaker 7 (20:21):
Thank you all Right, off to Major League Baseball, where
it was a tough night for Phillies fans. Kyle Schwarber
had already gotten injured earlier in the game, but on
the final out, Bryce Harper's to stay a hamstring injury
trying to beat out a grounder down the first base line.

Speaker 8 (20:35):
And here's Harper on the injury after the game.

Speaker 6 (20:38):
Took the lower hemmy just a little bit. Uh So
we're going to image tomorrow just to see what that
looks like. See, I, you know, kind of sail tomorrow
and I can go back filt like that before. Now
I haven't. I never had really a soft tissue injury,
said Bo. So, uh can we see Like I said,

(20:59):
what Emma Jandler text to.

Speaker 5 (21:02):
Yeah, I'll go from there.

Speaker 7 (21:04):
This was brutal to watch because he is the best
player on the best team in baseball right now. They
have the best records, about eight games ahead of the Braves.
It's just announced yesterday that Bryce Harper was going to
be a starter for the All Star Game because he
was leading the All Star.

Speaker 8 (21:19):
Game voting with Aaron Judge.

Speaker 7 (21:21):
And you also have to remember he's been dealing with
injuries the last couple of years. He made the move
from the outfield to first base after he had Tommy
John surgery on his elbow.

Speaker 8 (21:29):
So there's been a lot of adjustments.

Speaker 7 (21:31):
For Bryce Harper later in his career due to injury.

Speaker 8 (21:35):
It depends, that's the hard part.

Speaker 7 (21:38):
It depends like what, like what grade of a strain
it is, and you can easily re injure it with.

Speaker 8 (21:44):
A sprint or a move. So it's a month, maybe
a month for the hamstring.

Speaker 3 (21:52):
Yeah, get him a therapy. Do they have that in Philly?
I mean a month, it could be.

Speaker 8 (21:57):
It depends.

Speaker 7 (21:58):
You know, you're sprinting, you're running, you don't want to
re injure it. Yeah, yeah, So the Phillies just put
him on the ten day I l he'll probably reevaluate
him after that.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
No, All Star Game, probably don't.

Speaker 7 (22:12):
You don't want to say that, and hopefully he'll at
least be there because we have it.

Speaker 3 (22:16):
By the way, in Texas, how about the baby Blue Phillies?

Speaker 4 (22:19):
Now I love the baby Now listen I've seen rhyme
over there, producer shaking his head.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
I'll say this, when.

Speaker 4 (22:26):
I was living outside Philadelphia, I got one of those
baby blue Philadelphia throwback hats with the p on it.

Speaker 3 (22:32):
Yeah, it's just a cool looking hat.

Speaker 8 (22:33):
It's great.

Speaker 7 (22:34):
I'm a huge fan of Philly and Philly sports and
Phillies fans we were covering when they were in the
World Series a couple of years ago. Talk about like
an aggressive, passionate fan base. That just stole my heart.
I'm here for for all of it. So I just
hope for Phillies fans that he gets better. So we've
seen a lot of top guys go down, Ronald Acuna

(22:56):
Junior and Mookie Betts. Now Bryce Harper is just not
good for the game when you have your star guys
not on the field.

Speaker 8 (23:03):
So here's to a speedy recovery.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
Alex Curry with the news.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
Well, that's the news, and thanks for stopping by The
Herd Line News.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
Back here on the Herd. Final segment of the week.

Speaker 4 (24:10):
Very exciting NBA Draft grades, Alex You ready.

Speaker 8 (24:15):
I'm ready? You ready?

Speaker 7 (24:17):
Yeah, Okay, let's get started. What grade would you give
the Hawks?

Speaker 3 (24:22):
I'm gonna go with a C. I know, listen, I'm
a tough grader, folks.

Speaker 4 (24:26):
Now, listen, in five years, if Ricochet looks like Paul George,
I'll eat this.

Speaker 3 (24:31):
That's fine. I don't know that he's gonna.

Speaker 4 (24:33):
Get there, and in the short term, Hawks are not
gonna be very good next year. Let's see with Trey
Young and j Janna Murray if they move off. But
I did not love this draft. Trading aj Griffin, bailing
on him after two years. I don't know, I just
didn't love it.

Speaker 8 (24:45):
All right, Moving on, what grade would you give the.

Speaker 3 (24:47):
Wizards another team? What the hell are they doing? Washington?
I'm gonna give a ce again.

Speaker 4 (24:53):
You go with Alex Saar, who is a nice player.
Played seventeen minutes a game in the NBL last year.
Carrington's a nice player. This is gonna be one of
the worst teams in the league. I didn't even like
trading Denny Abdia on Draft day.

Speaker 5 (25:05):
Like what?

Speaker 4 (25:06):
I just very puzzling stuff from the Wizards. Again, this
is a multi year project. If you in five years,
say Jay Jay the Wizard during the playoffs, you you've
got their.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
Draft grade wrong? Fine, but in the short term, see what.

Speaker 8 (25:18):
Grade would you give it the Rockets?

Speaker 3 (25:21):
Uh? Slight slightly better?

Speaker 4 (25:23):
See Plus, I'm not as high on Reed Shepherd as
everyone else. Larson's okay, I like adding Griffin, but like Shepherd. Really,
I don't know how Jalen Green's gonna take this. I
don't know what his future holds in Houston. They're close.
I like this team. I just I would not have
gone Shepherd at three. But he's a nice player.

Speaker 8 (25:42):
You are a tough grade.

Speaker 5 (25:43):
I am C.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
Plus.

Speaker 8 (25:44):
We haven't we haven't even made it to a B yet.

Speaker 5 (25:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (25:46):
What grade would you give the Grizzlies?

Speaker 3 (25:48):
Here we go, here's a B. Give me a B
for the Grizzlies Zach Edie. I like it. I think
the perfect center for this team.

Speaker 4 (25:55):
Like he's gonna be able to slide right in pick
and roll with Ja Morant. This team will be much
better than they were last year.

Speaker 7 (26:03):
Did you see Ja Morant's meme he tweeted out from
Rush Hour?

Speaker 8 (26:08):
It was really funny.

Speaker 3 (26:09):
It was good.

Speaker 7 (26:10):
Like it was a scene where he like goes to
the elevator and like he runs into this extremely tall
man like whoa so he like listen, he had jokes.

Speaker 4 (26:16):
He's gonna be a factor. I like Cam Spencer from
You Cut, Like this is a solid draft. Wristleis You're
gonna be like a forty five to fifty win team
next year.

Speaker 8 (26:24):
It's gonna be fun, all right. What grade would you
give the heat min Heat?

Speaker 6 (26:27):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (26:28):
I went C plus. I where is Okay? But your
your best player is bam Outebayo? Are you moving him
to stretch for I just don't totally get that you
just extended him. Larsen's a solid ad Heat kind of
an underachieving team this season. I don't know what the
future holes with the Jimmy Butler upset situation there.

Speaker 3 (26:48):
So I didn't love the draft. C plus for the Heat.

Speaker 8 (26:51):
Curious about this next one. What Grady would you give
the Spurs?

Speaker 4 (26:55):
Disappointing but a B minus, mostly because I love Castle.

Speaker 3 (26:59):
I think he was my favorite player in the draft.
Nunez is a under the radar guy.

Speaker 4 (27:03):
He's apparently very beloved overseas, so he could be a steal.
I hated trading Rob Dillingham. I went over that yesterday.

Speaker 3 (27:11):
B minus for the Spurs. Castle should start. I love
his game.

Speaker 8 (27:15):
What grade would you give the thunder Okay?

Speaker 3 (27:18):
OKC is kind of on a heater right now.

Speaker 4 (27:20):
Oh my goodness, so I gave him a by Topic.

Speaker 3 (27:23):
Is injured, but he's a player.

Speaker 4 (27:25):
Jones is an under the radar guy, and Mitchell I
like a lot. I'm telling you two of these three
should contribute next year. I think topic is a couple
of years away, but okase might be the second best
team in the West next year.

Speaker 3 (27:39):
I know they had what they number one or number
two seeds. I forget they were one of the best
seeds in what they were the one seed?

Speaker 8 (27:45):
Yeah, I appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (27:46):
Yeah, so they'll be either back at one or two
next year. This team is good. I think in free
agency they need a center, but they're close.

Speaker 8 (27:53):
All right, what grade would you give the timber Wolves?

Speaker 4 (27:56):
Here's your first day, Alex, you asked me. I love
of these two players. Give the Timberwolves an A. Dillingham
is going to play. He's gonna be in the back
end of the rotation early and then maybe more later.
And Tarrett Shinnon is a bucket getter. Folks, I'm not
ready to stake my claim, but the Minnesota Timberwolves might
be the favorite in the West this year. I really

(28:18):
think both these guys contribute. It sounds like Carl Anthony Towns.
They're not gonna move off him. They'll eat the luxury tax.
Dang Timberwolves, give me an.

Speaker 8 (28:25):
Agg Okay, what grade did you give your necks?

Speaker 4 (28:27):
Okay, now it gets fun. The Knicks are an a
full show not even close. Forget about the France guy
you can draft and Stash Tyler Kolek is a stud.
I'm telling you, man, he's on the Brunson track. I'm
not saying he's gonna be all NBA, but he's gonna
start coming off the bench. He will contribute. Mccullor was
one of the best players in the country. He had
some injuries. He's a little older.

Speaker 3 (28:48):
But two of those.

Speaker 4 (28:49):
Guys will find themselves in like the eight nine ten spot.
And the Knicks are gonna be awesome. So they're crushing
the week. They crush the draft. They got Michale Bridges.
My Knicks get an A.

Speaker 8 (29:00):
And finally, what grade would you give our Lakers.

Speaker 3 (29:04):
Let's see they get Dulton Connect he's a good shooter.
They got Bronnie James.

Speaker 4 (29:08):
Let's go with an A plus and A plus with
a Lakers connect is that I'm just telling he's the truth.
And I like Bonnie James. You're getting lebron You're keeping
him happy again. Look at the end of that Lakers bench. Yeah,
Bronnie is better than a couple of He will be
better than a couple of those guys and able to
contribute in some small capacity, you.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
Know, pass me the ball Dad over here. But I
like the Connect edition.

Speaker 4 (29:32):
I'm just telling you, the Lakers had a very very
good draft.

Speaker 3 (29:36):
Connect is he could be the Steel of the draft.

Speaker 7 (29:39):
I mean, he was a SEC Player of the Year
and his story, I think is what helps him. Like,
didn't have a D one offer at a high school,
went to junior college, transfer to Tennessee, and even when
you were talking to him, they were talking to him
at the draft, like, what would your teammate say about you?
Like I work really hard. Everyone just says he's a
gym rat. He loves Jimmy, puts it in the work.
He's gonna be hustling. And now add that to someone

(30:00):
like a team that you have Lebron James ad Yeah,
and Lebron's also going to be wanting to elevate his
son Browny to that level too.

Speaker 8 (30:08):
So it's gonna be interesting.

Speaker 4 (30:10):
All signs pointing up for the Lakers and Laker fans.
If you want to, you know, spend your Friday night
in on YouTube. I'm just telling you right now, go
punch in Dalton Connect.

Speaker 3 (30:18):
UNC. He just went off. They couldn't stop. Go punch
in Dalton Connect. Zach Edie. That Elite eight game was
amazing stuff.

Speaker 4 (30:25):
I did lose, Oh no, I think I got to
push in that game, but I remember I was watching
closely because Connect couldn't be stopped.

Speaker 3 (30:31):
Go look up Connect against Kentucky. I think he had
thirty seven.

Speaker 4 (30:34):
The guy can score on some of the best players
in the country.

Speaker 8 (30:37):
He's a pure scorer.

Speaker 7 (30:39):
And that's exactly what the Lakers guys in assass exactly
what the Lakers never did.

Speaker 3 (30:43):
Shooting was their bugaboo.

Speaker 4 (30:44):
They're like, oh, Torian Prince, please make a shot. Okay,
camradis great defense.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
Can't make a shot?

Speaker 8 (30:49):
Someone who can you do?

Speaker 3 (30:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (30:50):
So I listen, little a little older, a little more
mature than most of the guys in the draft, was
twenty three.

Speaker 4 (30:55):
I think he's never going to be twenty three this summer,
or maybe just turned twenty three.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
So Laker fans get excited. Listen. You know who else
should be excited.

Speaker 4 (31:02):
Alex Curry going to Vegas this weekend. So if you
see her, you know, tell her how amazing the show was.
We were just phenomenal, dominating, except where I kind of
was a little harsh on some people, but it happens.
You know, it happens.

Speaker 8 (31:14):
We had a good time.

Speaker 4 (31:15):
Yeah, I'm getting in trouble. No executive showed up on set.
That's a w Have a fun weekend. We're back on Wednesday.
