You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
Just talking to a member of our management team that
was in Cologne, Germany, and so I looked up the
pictures of it. What a beautiful city that, what a
stunning part of the world. Makes me want to go there.
Have you been there?
Speaker 3 (00:42):
So, no, I haven't been to Cologne. I think Berlin
is one of the great world cities, like an international metropolis,
great food, but Germany has this has been on fire
throughout the Euros. I mean Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Cologne, Eunich, Berlin.
It's been awesome, really really cool.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
I just had an Uber driver that was in the
military and based in Germany, and I said, how's the food.
He said, they're not into seasoning that much he goes,
but the beer spectacular there is great.
Speaker 4 (01:13):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
He was there for four years and we talked, you know,
on the long drive about it. And that's one of
the great things. When you watch like the Euros which
got incredible ratings, it's a little bit like the Travel Channel.
You're getting to watch different parts of the world. And
I mean a lot of Americans travel. In fact, I've
been saying this now for a couple of years as
(01:34):
people bemoan and lament the economy. We just broke another record.
Every plane I'm on is absolutely packed. So what that
tells me is the economy's not in the tank, may
not be on fire. It also tells me people like
to get out there and see the world, and which
I think is an incredibly great thing. So all right,
Lane Joh I didn't know Lane Jee. He's the best
(01:55):
right tackle in the NFL. He's going to be a
Hall of Famer. I didn't know him. Same Apparently he
was on stage with Zach Bryan. Are you a singer?
Did you add lib? Did you take a drama class
a music class at Oklahoma? Are you a singer?
Speaker 4 (02:12):
No? I learned how to read the lyrics so before
I went on stage, so I could so I can
know it. Uh yeah. This whole adventure started with the
Christmas album with Jason Kelsey a few a few years ago.
So that's how my singing adventure started.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
For the record, you know, Kelsey is such a unique guy.
Uh He's probably the best center in the last decade,
and now he's no longer part of that offensive line.
You are the leader, You're the physical, emotional leader. Tell me, uh,
Chip Kelly and I had this discussion over a beer
(02:49):
one time when he got to coach the Eagles about
Kelsey and about just how dominant he was and how
smart he was. Can you replace a guy like that?
Speaker 4 (02:58):
Uh? Not's that caliber. I mean, he's a truly unique player.
I think when you look at his skill set, what
he was able to do in space, and really, like
you said, how smart he was. He's a guy that
can sell if a game plan is going to work,
you know, Wednesday or Thursday of a week. So you know,
Cam Jurgen's coming in tremendous talent. Really played well at
right guard for US last year, so he's going to
(03:19):
slide to center. Second round pick out of Nebraska a
few years ago, so really excited about him. I think,
you know, Kel's had a lot to do with us
drafting him as far as watching his tape and and
analyzing what Cam was. So, you know, I think Cam
is going to be great in his own right. And yeah,
we're excited about camp this year, but definitely gonna miss
(03:41):
the big guy. I know he's gonna be working a
few days out of the week, but definitely would like
to have him in the building a few days out
of the week if I could.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
He's one of the good ones. By the way, Callen
Moore is the new offensive coordinator. What do you expect? What? What? What?
What in your mind right now?
Speaker 4 (03:59):
Lane?
Speaker 1 (03:59):
What do you think thinking about, Hey, this is what
it's going to look like. What's the adjustment like based
on his style? What do you think it is?
Speaker 4 (04:07):
Yeah? So, I mean the playbook far as terminology, a
lot of the lot of similar plays. But I think
Kevin does a good job of mixing up tempos. So
a lot of times he likes to press the gas
pedal in a fast paced offense. Obviously has different tempos
of how he attacks things. But I think when you
look at his body at work, he's had He's had
(04:28):
great years in Dallas, and you know, for him doing
what he did as a player at that high level
shows how smart he is. So I know, watching it
from Afar, I feel like Dallas has been very efficient,
you know whenever he was there, you know, quick game times,
ago tempo and did a good job of mixing up
the running pass so very balanced a point of attack lane.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
From Oklahoma to Philadelphia, those are two of the most
intense places to play football in America. The expectation that
both are through the roof. It's a lot a lot
of guys, that's a lot of pressure, and those pressurized
situations you in both places have risen to the very top.
(05:13):
Oklahoma and Philadelphia aren't for everybody. I mean, they're just
there's a lot of demands. Take me to what Philadelphia,
what it creates, because I think there is Philadelphia is
different now Green Bay is different because of the small town,
there's no ownership. Philadelphia games feel different than other cities
and other games, and can you compare it to anything.
(05:36):
Take me there.
Speaker 4 (05:39):
You just feel, you know, bottled up energy whenever you
land there, especially in our football season. It's something that
they anticipate all you know, year round. Discussed a lot
during the offseason and really that's really the pivotal focus.
And then they did a survey they could hit the
Eagles or eliminate all the other teams. They would keep
the Eagles and eliminate all the other teams they could.
(06:01):
I think Philadelphia Oklahoma both are very you know, high pressure.
But I think as a player you can use that
to your advantage. It's going to keep you hyper focused,
it's going to demand for you to be a player
that you need to be. And but yes, very intimidating
walking into Philadelphia as a rookie. Just it's hard to
(06:22):
describe it. You're in a magnifying glass. But at the
same time, whenever you're went in there's no place better.
It's highly celebrated and just the best way to describe
it is just very, very intense. You can fill it
in there every August, every September, whenever you start off.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
So last year, last five of the last six games
did not go your way. It was an ugly end
to a season last year, and again in a highly
pressurized place like Philadelphia, sports talk radio, aggressive, relentless media,
it gets ugly fast. Take me to the end of
last year in your opinion, what happened.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
I think we had trouble making in game adjustments, you know,
some blitz packages. We had a hard time, especially in
that Tampa Bay game. I think when you really go
and watch that, that was kind of the you know,
last two row for us, but it just seemed ugly.
I feel like the effort was never a problem, but
we were just very frustrated as to why things weren't
(07:20):
rolling our way. So that's the best way I could
to describe it. But it felt like the practice, the
effort was never the question. It just felt like what
we were doing collectively obviously wouldn't make a whole lot
of sense, and it really was a tell of two teams.
But even when we did have the record or ten
and one, a lot of these games were very tight
(07:42):
games and could have gone either way. But you can
look back at some of those games and feel like
you left, you know, two scores, three scores on the board,
and that's kind of how it felt all season.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
You're gonna get a lot of Hall of Fame vote.
Last three years, you've only allowed three sacks. What brings
you back to playing? You could stop right now, legacy set,
You've made a great living. Why do you come back
and play?
Speaker 4 (08:08):
I love it, I love I love the struggle of football,
just the demand that you that's placed on you every week.
I feel like the bar that you create with your
guys is so unique, and the brotherhood is what I miss.
But I do enjoy the people that I play with.
I enjoy my coaches, and it's something that I that
I've done for a long time. So you know, when
(08:29):
I think about the grand scheme of things, I think
I can play a few more years at a high level.
There's obviously, you know, things that you look at every
season and you try to make adjustments to become a
better player. So that's where I'm at and I feel good.
I think when you see the the old line position,
there's guys that have played very well in their mid
to upper thirties, and I think, yes, it's one of
(08:52):
these experiences. You only have a short amount of time
to really achieve all you can and so that's what
I'm doing. But you know, I've had great mental work
Jason Peters, Kelsey Cox that had played at a high
level for a long time, So you know, I've had
a lot of a lot of help.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
This weekend, you doing your annual Offensive Line Masterminds event.
Explain what that is and why you do it?
Speaker 4 (09:17):
Yeah, So why I'm doing it. I remember, you know,
only played two years of tackle in college, and so
when I was coming into the league, I didn't have
a whole lot of notoriety on who was who, how
the game was played. I was a skilled position player
my whole time. So you know, after a few years
in the league, one of my friends reached out to me,
Duke Anyweather. It was like, I would love to get
(09:39):
the guys in one room and talk ball, especially before
training camp. So we started out with twenty seven years
ago in the room. I think there's gonna be close
to three pot fifty this year. But really you can
get some of the guys that have played the game
the best that's ever been played and really picked their brains.
And I feel like as a young player, as an
older player, when you get that amount of win in
(10:00):
one room, you can really take a lot in sou
And that's what's happened. You get guys that talk about
how they played their games, you know, back decades ago,
some things, how they attacked the run game, the past game,
and so just really a lot of great discussion with
all these guys in one room.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
Uh, finally, Saquon Barkley, I just think it works. I
think Saquon's never He's had the misfortune of not having
a great offensive line, and there's not many in the
sport Philadelphia, Detroit, Atlanta. I think has got a pretty
good offensive line. I think you're gonna see this year.
I think the Rams have really attacked the interior guard,
(10:38):
center guard of their own line. How does it change
lane for you? I mean, Saquon hits the hole faster,
But does it matter to you?
Speaker 5 (10:48):
You?
Speaker 1 (10:48):
You obviously benefit, your PFF grade may go up, But
what do you think about when you think of Saquon
Barkley as an Eagle?
Speaker 4 (10:57):
Uh? Just amazed that that that he's even on our team.
I think when you look at him, yeah, I mean, honestly,
when you look at him, he's just he's a generational talent.
He's a guy that's two hundred and thirty pounds two
thirty five it flex out wide play receiver, so just
very dynamic. But for me, guys like that can make
you look a lot better than, maybe than what you are.
(11:20):
I feel like we'll find our rhythm in camp. We've
already learned a little. They're in OTA's kind of his
running style. But those guys like that. They can, Uh,
they don't need much. So I'm excited to get him,
get him started this year. And yeah, man, he's just
one of those guys that really wells you, you know,
from the first moment that you see him. So yeah,
(11:41):
I know, I know he's definitely he's definitely ready for
a big year.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd Weekdays
and Neon Easter Not a Empacific on Fox Sports Radio
FS one and the iHeart Radio apps.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
Yeah, it doesn't happen very often in the NFL that
you steal your rival's best player. You're fort when the
first time you grabbed your phone and saw Saquon Barkley
to the Eagles, were you were you surprised?
Speaker 4 (12:08):
Yeah, I couldn't. I couldn't believe it. It was one
of those things. I mean, I've been to the NFL
for a long time. I've seen some crazy things happen.
But yeah, like you said, to get a rival player
on your team, Uh, definitely gonna be exciting. I mean,
there's there's gonna be some two games. I know he's circling,
but yeah, just one of those things. NFL is a
(12:29):
crazy business, and you know the longer, I played a
less surprised.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
I am good luck against the Packers in Brazil on
your opener. Now, I would imagine Jordan, you've traveled a lot.
Brazil can get a little steamy at that time of
the year. How many days in advance do you guys
leave for that game? Are you you? Are you leaving
five days out?
Speaker 6 (12:51):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (12:52):
So I think it's a Friday game. We might leave
maybe Monday. I'm not sure. I haven't I haven't seen
the schedule. I know when we played London a few
years ago, we left only a couple of days before,
So either way, it's a it's a business trip. I
really don't know what to expect. I've heard, you know,
the talk about the jersey color and they don't like
(13:14):
green there, but you know who knows. Both teams are
mainly green, so we'll figure that out. And really I
know it's it's about a ten to twelve hour flight,
so once we get over that, I would prefer to
go earlier in the week, just so we can maybe
see some things.
Speaker 1 (13:28):
Lane great, Sen you congrats on everything. Get stay healthy
and we'll see against the Packers.
Speaker 4 (13:35):
Thank you appreciate you having me on.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
You bet Lane Johnson all timer twelfth season, all of
the Eagles entering his twelfth season. Jordan with a news.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
We turn on the news. This is the Herdline news Colin.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
The Bears have had a lot of healty expectations afters
rafting Caleb Williams first overall, loading up with offensive weapons
this offseason. The next year will also be on Matt
Eberflu's the head coach to make things work with all
the additional pieces, and Vegas oddsmakers have made him the
favorite to win Coach of the Year at plus eight hundred.
Speaker 5 (14:11):
The rest of the field is also pretty interesting.
Speaker 3 (14:14):
Robert Sala plus eleven hundred, Harball plus eleven hundred, Lafleur.
Speaker 5 (14:17):
Rahee Morris, and Demico Ryans.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
At plus thirteen Coach of the Year plus eight hundred
Sala well Sala's plus eleven hundreds right right after him.
So your your favorite team and your favorite quarterback. I'll
tell you this, Mattiberflus, it felt like last year throughout
most of the season was it hot water.
Speaker 5 (14:40):
So I'm gonna give you.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
I'm gonna I'll say this plus eight hundred seems very
very short.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
Jim Harball makes a ton of sense, and so does
Matt Lafleur because they have elevated quarterback play.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
But but Ibraflus has Keenan Allen and Romo Doonsay, and
I believe Odoonzay and Williams is going to be one
of the best young duels in the league from day one.
They have a very good defense. They got Montes Sweat
and Jalen Johnson locked up. New offensive coordinator Lukeetzi no
longer there.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
Well, there's a lot of projecting here. This is a
lot of.
Speaker 3 (15:09):
I'm gonna go Raheem Morris. I really like it plus
thirteen hundred because you got.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
His big advantage of that they have the weakest schedule in.
Speaker 3 (15:15):
The league week schedule, but also to your point, really
good offensive line year two with Bijon Drake London is
primed for a big breakout year.
Speaker 5 (15:24):
I think a really talented young.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
Powers Robert solid nothing against him, but plus eleven hundred.
That offense is.
Speaker 5 (15:30):
All about Aaron, that's all about Rogers. That's it.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
And I mean, obviously the weapons are there. We've talked
about Brees Hall and Garrett Wilson.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
Kind of that's.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
Best case inari up for the Jets. Best case when
the division win ten eleven.
Speaker 1 (15:44):
N ten and seven. Aaron's upright plays all the games.
The offensive line takes a while to get it going,
but they establish some offensive identity, they'll have a defensive identity.
Most of the good teams in the league. I mean,
that's really what's hurts the Buffalo Bills been talented offensively,
but what's been their identity? Like I honestly felt that
(16:06):
it's just Josh Allen's talented. That's not an identity. The
Rams Kyle Shanahan Kansas City, Buffalo I felt last year
it's like the tight end cook the running back. I'm like, oh,
they're running the ball. Now, here's an identity. The Jets
have no offensive identity. Aaron's talented doesn't count. So to me,
(16:26):
if he's upright in the offensive line, Tyron Smith, let's say,
stays healthy, and they're kind of a they're explosive, Aaron's moving,
Garrett Wilson some big plays. Bryce Hall's popping big runs,
and you feel like, oh, it's a big playoffense. You know,
not the best offense, but it's a potentially big playoffense.
And there's a little bit of an offensive identity that's
(16:49):
the best. But this is not a thirteen win team.
It's not a twelve win team.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
But I do think that the Jets can outscore people
and then with leads with that defense that we always
pretty much shut down at all three levels. I mean,
they have a great cornerback to duel with DJ Reid
and Sauce, they have linebackers, they have pass rushers.
Speaker 5 (17:09):
I don't worry about that defensively.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
Okay, so I'm saying if Rogers plays well, not even great.
Let's say Aaron plays really well or pretty well. Let's
say he's a top eight to ten quarterback this year.
Speaker 1 (17:18):
Let's say he's the ninth best quarterback in the league.
They're ten and seven.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
That means they're playing from they're playing ahead, and they
have their defense closing out games. That's that's a successful team.
That's a dangerous team. In my opinion.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
Middle to the end of that schedule is rough.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
It's tough. I do think reeseall this year skyrockets in
his third year. Yeah, I think he's gonna really really
take off. The summer Olympics are around the corner. But
there's one sport that won't be featured this summer but
will be added for twenty twenty eight.
Speaker 5 (17:49):
Right here, Colin in La.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
Flag football, Joe Burrow recently said, quote he really wants
to play for the Olympic team, wants to reunite with
former LSU receiver Jamark and Justin Jefferson. Burrow also added
it would be quote embarrassing if the US did not
win the inaugural gold medal. Come should NFL players want
(18:10):
to play flag football in the Olympics.
Speaker 1 (18:12):
There's no way in the world I'm letting Joe Burrow
football in the Olympics. There's not a chance.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
I liked it though.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
I mean, did we all play flag football in high
school to college or whatever?
Speaker 5 (18:25):
I mean, it was course.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
Some of the best college memories outside right Jet beer
was flag football.
Speaker 5 (18:31):
Okay, So here's my thing.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
If the US doesn't win the goal, if we don't
send our best players in twenty twenty eight, this is
like Canada and hockey not making out.
Speaker 5 (18:40):
Of the group stage.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
It's like France not sending him Babe to the Euros.
I think it's important the Olympics.
Speaker 5 (18:47):
Colin.
Speaker 3 (18:48):
We talked earlier about Kawhi Leonard withdrawing from Team USA
and Derek White being his replacement. We also mentioned Jalen
Brown did not seem too pleased with getting Snubb, putting
out a cryptic tweet with three Monaco emojis.
Speaker 5 (19:02):
Colin, how big of a min there? It is? Right there?
Speaker 2 (19:06):
How big of a miss?
Speaker 3 (19:07):
Was not selecting reigning finals MVP Jalen Brown.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Well, he's a better player than Derek White, so you
have you have three other Celtic teammates. It's just weird.
He was the Eastern Conference final MVP. In the finals MVP,
you have three other Celtic teammates on team USA. So
so I think Jalen's great. It's a weird thing. Is
it a chemistry issue?
Speaker 3 (19:32):
I don't get it because I was really happy about
Derek White and then.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
All of a sudden, it's just weird.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
But also, what's the explanation, Well.
Speaker 5 (19:42):
The explanation to I don't know, but I'll tell you this.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
In October, Jalen Brown talked about how honored he would
He said playing this is a quote playing for USA
B I think there's no greater honor. Being able to
participate would be great, So throw alcohole. He wouldn't want
to play. Jalen Brown clearly wants to be a part
of this.
Speaker 1 (19:59):
It's so odd. So let's look at the team. Yeah,
it too Okay, so they have let's look at the
guard Steph Curry, Booker, Drew Holliday, Anthony Edwards Halliburton. Okay,
so their argument is we've got five guards, we can't
have a six.
Speaker 3 (20:17):
Yeah, but Jalen Brown is he could play center for them.
He can do anything.
Speaker 1 (20:21):
To me, it's like, it's weird that he got in
over Drew Holiday. But again, the construct of this is
maybe they just want a less offensive player and more
of a defensive player.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
And Drew Holiday, I thought Jalen Brown throughout the playoffs
was the best perimeter defender.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
So, by the way, when everybody pushed back on Caitlin
Clark right on the women's team right now, now she's
not one of the best players. Well, Jalen Brown's one
of the eight best players, ten best. He's better than
guys on this team. Why isn't Jalen Brown Because Olympic
teams you get to the middle and end of the roster.
(20:58):
It can be a chemistry play, a political play, a
business decision. Like if I'm Steve Kerr, I want Devin
Booker on that team. I don't want Devin Booker to
think I slided him. Is I'm gonna pay play Devin
Booker as a coach of the Warriors multiple times. I
want to take care of guys. Yeah, so this all
Caitlyn Clark is not as good. First of all, she's
(21:19):
better than Diana uh CHIOSSI she's better right now at
this point, absolutely and uh and she's good for business.
So go look at the men's team. Jalen Brown the finals, MVP,
the Eastern Conference MVP is done on the team. There's
got to be some chemistry thing here, political thing. It
doesn't make any sense. It doesn't because he wants to
be on the team.
Speaker 5 (21:41):
And not only that, he adds tremendous value.
Speaker 3 (21:43):
I don't I don't know if there's a more versatile
wing right now in the I mean, he was un
Without him, they don't win the final.
Speaker 5 (21:51):
He was unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
So Jalen Brown was teammates with Steve Kerr's son at Cow.
Speaker 5 (21:57):
I did not know that there's another kid more centers.
Speaker 3 (22:01):
It doesn't make any sense all right to the Euros,
where Spain had a monstrous win yesterday over France.
Speaker 5 (22:07):
Look at this goal from the media mall. Incredible night.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
That was.
Speaker 5 (22:12):
That's galatzo Colin.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
It was Jamal's first goal of the tournament, help equalize
things for Spain, and not only that, he becomes the
youngest goal scorer in euro history sixteen years, three hundred.
Speaker 5 (22:25):
And sixty two days old.
Speaker 3 (22:26):
Spain faces the winner of England and the Dutch, which,
by the way, you can watch right here on Fox
at the top of the hour.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
The quality of soccer in the Euros. Yes, insane, thank
you there it is. It's like it's like our NFL playoffs.
The intensity of it's through the roof.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
Yeah yeah, I mean what were you doing at sixteen, Colin?
Speaker 5 (22:44):
I know you weren't scoring galazzos in the Euros.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
I was doing bad things. Yeah, I was making bad decisions,
poor choices.
Speaker 5 (22:54):
Couldn't be that far, couldn't be that for but you
have me. Oh look at that.
Speaker 3 (22:58):
And by the way, the France goalkeepers consider maybe the
best in the world, so couldn't touch it.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
God Jordan with the news, Well that's the news and
thanks for stopping that. The Herd Line News. Be sure
to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays and noon
Eastern non a em Pacific Pauly Fools go here with
Tony Foosco. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (23:18):
As everybody knows, we're the hosts of the award winning
Polly and Tony Foodsco Show. Yeah, but instead of us
telling you how great we are, here's how Dan Patrick
described us when he came on our show.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
Quick, knowledgeable and funny, opinionated.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
What are you doing interrupting our promo? Yeah, you wasn't
talking about you.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
You took those clips totally of context.
Speaker 6 (23:39):
Oh yeah, well after this promo, I'm gonna take you
out and beat you.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
Let me put this into context. Shut up.
Speaker 6 (23:45):
Yeah, anyway, just listen to the Paully and Tony Fosco
Show on iart Radio, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get
your podcasts yee.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
On Tuesday, Judge, Otani Harper and Baseball's Biggest Stars takes
center stage deep in the heart of Texas for.
Speaker 5 (24:02):
The Midsummer Classes.
Speaker 1 (24:03):
It's the twenty twenty four All Star Game.
Speaker 3 (24:06):
Covered begins Tuesday at seventh p in Eastern on FOSS.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
So a lot of off season moves. I wasn't here
for them, so I'm gonna give up my grades, my
report card. Jordan will set me up on all the
NBA offseason moves.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
Here we go, all right, what grade would you give
Klake Thompson to the Mats.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
Well, they're a playoff team now with big aspirations. I'd
say it's a C plus. He was a regular season
player of note last year. Really in the last couple
of years has been disappointing the postseason. No longer an
elite defender, but the MAVs shot only thirty one percent
on threes. He's also a catch and shoot guy, which
with Luca that's important because he's very bald dominant. So
(24:48):
it's a good C plus to be minus. I like
the move, but again, this organization that was all about
the playoffs, it's not about the regular season. Clay was
great in the regular season, but you gotta do something in.
Speaker 5 (25:01):
How about Damarta Rosen to sack Town with the Beams.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
Well, I'll give it a beat. He plays a lot
of minutes, he works hard, not much of a defender,
more of a mid range guy. Feels like he's you know,
the game has moved past this type of player, so
he's like, he's not gonna defend you like a guard,
like a Jalen Brown. And not gonna hit a bunch
of threes. But he plays a ton of minutes. He
works hard. He's a six time All Star. I like it.
Speaker 5 (25:26):
CPE CP three to sant antone C plus.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
I mean again, you're not gonna get eighty two games?
Can you get? Can you get seventy games? Can you
get twenty eight minutes? No longer a plus defender, but
actually his age and wisdom matters. Spurs were second in
the NBA and assists last year, and Chris is an
assist machine, so he'll he'll make them better at what
(25:52):
they already do well. But you know again, I think
you're looking for leadership. Yeah, that's what this is all about. Leadership,
showing wimby the next serial limitations on his game now
in minutes played?
Speaker 3 (26:03):
Yep, what grade would you give Alex Caruso and Isaiah
Hartenstein to the OKAC thunder.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
Good B plus. You're not getting a ton of points,
but they're both plus defenders. Hartenstein is to me a
greater loss for the Knicks than a game for Okay. See,
but I think he is a good game. I mean
he ranked fifth and offensive rebounds. Chet Holmgren's there, big,
but not quite as physical. Hartenstein is a is A
is a culture fit. He's a tough guy. It's a
(26:30):
really young team. He's an unselfish player. But I think
he's a bigger loss to the Knicks than a gained Okay.
Speaker 5 (26:36):
See Russ three as well.
Speaker 3 (26:39):
What grade would you give Buddy Heels to the Golden
State worris a little bit replacing claim.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
Maybe see yeah, a little bit? You know, good player,
solid player. They already have the best three point shooter
in the game. He's a He's a career forty guy
on threes. I thought he would have been a good
fit with the Lakers because if you play with Lebron,
he's gonna set you up to succeed on three pointers.
But it's a good solid See.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
How about KCP Coentavious Caldwell Pope to Orlando.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
Now this is an underrated move. So he can hit
threes and the Maps are terrible at shooting him. He's
also they have a really good young group of players
that don't know how to win. ACP wins. He won
with the Lakers, he wins with Denver. He's a He's
a player that used to drive me a little crazy.
I've really grown to like him as a player, big
(27:28):
shot maker, never afraid of the moment, a willing defender, long,
it's got beautiful stroke and again plays really well in
big games. And and the other thing about KCP is
he was frequently asked to guard the other team's best
offensive guard. So he's become one of my favorite like
(27:49):
glue guys in the league. I think he has a
great get for Orlando.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (27:53):
Not only that, it shows that Denver does not want
to spend the money. And I think this is going
to talk about Hartenstein hurting the Knicks.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
No, Denver, there's no question he listened. He left the Lakers.
He's a big shot taker and a big shot maker.
Speaker 5 (28:05):
This is this is my favorite Michael Bridges.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
To the Knicks as he's not a great player, he's
a good player that fits perfectly h They tend to
be a small team. That's why I think the Hartenstein
loss is punitive. I like him a lot. I mean
the bottom line is Bruntson Bridges, Josh Hart, Dante de Vincenzo.
It's a good team now. And again, if you're gonna
(28:28):
beat Boston, what do you need win facility? So what's Philadelphia?
Do they add a wing. What do the Knicks do
they this is a Celtics move. Yeah, you're not gonna
beat You're not gonna If you start looking at teams
that are gonna face the Celtics, you watch Boston, You're like, dude,
we gotta get six seven, six, eight guys know wing
that can defend and hit shots. Quality, classic villanova guy.
(28:51):
I mean, there's literally a term in the NBA nova guy. Yeah,
high character, work, hard overachiever, great coachable team guy. Created
a term nova guy.
Speaker 4 (29:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (29:03):
I think I think, Michael, this is the move that
the Knicks fans have wanted them to make for years.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
It's gonna be a fun team to WIDREI nobody will
play harder.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
I mean, and this is your favorite one. I think
Paul George to Philly. I mean, what does that do?
Speaker 1 (29:14):
A plus? Okay, most underrated player in the league bottom
line nine time All Star replaces Tobias Harris. Much better
offensive player than Tobias Harris. You know, it's just funny.
He you know, he's never gotten the love he deserves.
So I think when you grade a player, first of all,
I grade the player, and then what's the fit? What
(29:35):
is he on the defense? Most of these guys that
make their money in the free agent they can.
Speaker 5 (29:39):
Score for sure.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
This guy will defend. This guy has always played on
teams with a definitive number one, so he's been overlooked.
Carmelo Anthony is the prodigy. I think Paul George would
make you a better team. I just think he's an
underrated guy. And by the way, this team will be
led by Mbi. They were sixteen to twenty seven without
Mbat on the look, so em beats their best player,
(30:03):
but Embiid misses time.
Speaker 4 (30:05):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (30:05):
I just I would have a I could move off
Kawhi Leonard in fifteen minutes. I would have a hard
time if I'm the Clippers moving off Paul George. He's
a Paul George. Trust me. It's going to take you
about a half of six ers basketball to go, oh yeah,
we can get to the finals.
Speaker 3 (30:25):
There's a dirth now of big threes, and you mentioned PG.
He fits in, he blends, so he's actually the perfect
fit for Maxi and Embiid and he won't mind being
second or third fill on any given night.
Speaker 1 (30:36):
Yeah, it was interesting to watch the opinionists. You know,
their opinions on all these moves. I think KCP is
a to Orlando is a hugely underrated move. I think
Hartenstein out of New York is a really tough lost.
I know he's an eight and eight guy, but he's
way more than that. I thought Paul George the Philly
(30:58):
I'm surprised. First of all, I thought he'd leave. I
didn't think the Clippers would give him up, especially with
the lack of consistency on Kauai's health. I was shocked.
I'm not shocked much in free agency, as like, Wow,
he's gonna go all the way east as a California guy.
All Right, Jordan and I are back tomorrow. Baby Sir,
flew through it today, got the rust off. I hope
