to The Herd Podcast. Chris Brusard, First things first, gonna
(00:25):
join us live from New York. Love me some broo.
You know, we've talked about this and it's on shows
like ours. It's fun. But I do think the game
is more global now and some of the top players
are you know, they're global stars. I still think the
country that produces, by far and away the most talent
(00:46):
consistently is the United States, and I think we'll kind
of roll through these Olympics. There's been a debate that
Kevin Durant, There's been a Durant kind of lebron the
older guys shouldn't start younger guys. I would argue Anthony
Davis is playing better basketball than virtually everybody on the
planet right now. What do you make of the construct
(01:10):
of this team? The Jalen Brown situation is sort of
weird are you? Are you okay with a construct in
the minutes as they're being distributed right now?
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Well, first I'll.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Say this, Jalen Brown should be on the team. He
definitely got snubbed. I mean, it's to add insult to injury.
It's like, not only is he not on the team,
but three of his teammates are on the team. You know,
that just makes it worse. And I'm glad he's patched,
not patch things up. But he talked to Derek White.
He's supportive of him, so it shouldn't cause any friction there.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
But it's just it's not right. I get them talking.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
About, hey, we want a role player, a guy that
will seamlessly be able to shoot threes and defend, and
that's all he's looking to do in Derek White.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
But Kawhi Leonard was it that guy. It's not like
you you had lost a role player.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Kawhil was a star and so you can't tell me
we had a guy that was gonna do the dirty works,
so we had to replace him with such a guy.
Jalen could be a great defender if he doesn't have
to worry about scoring twenty five points a game. So
he filled that role, and he shoots the three pretty
much as well as Derek White. I mean, career wise,
(02:18):
they're the same percentage almost exactly.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
So I think he got snubbed. But overall the team
is great. Colin.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
I look at this kind of as the third iteration
of the Dream Team. You obviously had ninety two the Originals,
and then two thousand and eight the redeem Team, where
we had to kind of put our foot down again.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Right and win gold.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
And now you've got this this iteration where we've got.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Some all time legends and lebron.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Kd and Steph. Then you've got kind of the next
group of superstars from America like Anthony Edwards and even
guys in between like Anthony Davis. So this team, you know,
in this Colin, I to say it because we're gonna
roll this year. There's no doubt. This is the last
time I think we'll be able to definitely send a team,
(03:07):
and it's like, there's no doubt we're winning. Yeah, Like
I think we'll win more in the future. We'll still
win some gold medals, but it won't be definitive every
single year again like it is now.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
When we send our best guys.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
So we talked about Brawny earlier. Is I didn't have
a problem in an incredibly historically weak draft, the Lakers
drafting a project and a G leaguer, because I think
once you got past the thirty fifth pick most of
the players were rotational or G league players. He is
worse offensively than I thought. He's just not an NBA
(03:42):
player offensively. What do you make it? Is the league?
I mean, I've seen Kwame Brown, people have come up
been highly critical of it. How does the Brawny move
play privately around the league?
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Well, look, everybody he sees that it's you use the
perfect word project, okay, And it depends on who you
speak to as far as how people feel about it.
Obviously it's nepotism, but nepotism is rampant throughout the NBA,
so some people will overlook that. And then there's those
(04:19):
that talk about, wow, the father son dynamic Lebron coming from,
you know, the situation he grew up in, not knowing
his father and doing everything he can for his son,
and what a moment for him and the NBA. But
you can't get past the fact that right now Briani
is not ready and like I said, project is the
(04:39):
perfect word. You don't typically think of six one guys
as projects, but that's what Brianie is right and look
in a positive note. Defensively, he looks like he.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Can, you know, be a pretty good defender.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
And what his goal should be right now and I'm
talking about over the next few years is finding his niche,
which is defense, right and then over time adding the
three point shot. What is really telling Colin is the
fact that they almost never have him bringing the ball up.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
Yes, like he's a six to ones player, he's.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
Gonna have the guard point guards he's got obviously not
the basketball IQ of his dad, but a solid, smart
basketball IQ, and yet they never have. They're not even
attempting to have him learn point guard at this point.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
So he's they're looking at him as.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
A three and D guy and obviously he's got to
work on the three pointer. The fact people got excited
about him hitting threes in the Chicago camp, remember, but
that's against air. I mean, you've been around NBA guys
in practice. When you just let him shoot three pointers
by themselves, they drain a ton of them. So he's
got improved that I don't I can't imagine the speed
(05:56):
of the game is too much for him because he's
used to playing again high level talent.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
But when you can make threes.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
Alone, but you have trouble making them in games, and
I'm not talking about just the Summer League, I'm talking
about USC as well. That feels like you're rushing your
shot because you have to get up quicker than.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
You like to. And so he's got to work on that.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
But look, the goal ultimately, I think is can he
become a rotation players.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
I don't see him being a star. I don't see
him being.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
A star obviously, but can he ever get in a rotation?
And I think with his defense and over time his
shot should improve like his dads has, then I think
maybe he can one day get in a rotation.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
Yeah, he's not a natural fluid offensive player. He's pretty robotic,
and I do think his only way to make it
middle to bottom of the bench as a defensive player.
So we talked about it this week, is Julius Randall's
a productive player. But the Knicks are a small team
and losing Isaiah Hartenstein, they get smaller because Mitchell Robinson
(06:59):
has injuries. Is that small ball was always a bit
of a figment of our imagination. It was just Steph
Curry and Clay were the best shooting backcourt. Ever, is
that you need size and the league continues to get
bigger and more international. Julius Randall, if he's signed by
the Knicks, will end up being a five, and I
just don't think he can defend them. I think they'll
(07:19):
be small in a conference that has porzingis, Jannis Embiid,
lots of young biggs. I think he's a good player,
but a bad fit for the Knicks. And what worries
me brew is that when James Dolan was distracted over
the last two years with the architecture of the Sphere,
he was away from the organization and the Knicks flourished
(07:41):
in drafting and development. The Sphere's done and it's a
revenue machine. Now he's back to talking about how much
he loves Julius Randall. Will this decision? What do you
foresee as Julius Randall's future. He does have a market,
I don't doubt that. I don't think he fits this
Nick roster.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
What say you, Well, look, if I could get a
Carl Anthony Townsend, I don't think they can for Julius Randall.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
Certainly I do something like that. I'm listening.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
If I'm talking to teams around the league, I'm listening
to their offers or their interest.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
In Julius Randall. But I'm not shopping him at this moment.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
Now.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
I'm not giving him a contract extension right now either.
Right he's eligible for those, I'm not giving him that.
He's under contract this year, has a player option next year.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
So I'm just playing it out.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
And here's the thing, Collin, because you're right, a lot
of people are saying, well, now to this Jalen Brunson's team,
where does Randall fit? But when they first traded for
og On Nanobi midway through last season, Julius Randall was
healthy and everybody was essentially healthy, and they won twelve
or fourteen games.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
They went twelve and two.
Speaker 3 (08:52):
With Randall and Nanobi, Brunson and the rest of the guys,
and then Randall got hurt. So if I'm the I'm
intrigued about, Okay, let's try it.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
Right.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
If it doesn't work out, we have time to move Randall.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
But right now, let's give it a.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
Shot and see how it can work out. Look, they
need Mitchell Robinson to be healthy. It's as simple as that,
because you're right. Losing Harten's thing is big for them.
But if Robinson is healthy, you can still have a
big guy in the middle and at times go small
maybe with Randall at the five.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
The thing I don't like.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
About him most of all is and this is no mystery,
he just has disappeared in the playoffs. He's just like
thirty four percent in the playoffs, twenty eight percent from three.
His scoring average goes way down, and so that bothers
me if I'm the Knicks, But I'm giving it a
shot early, seeing how it works.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
And if I have to move him, I think I'll
be able.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
To be sure to catch live editions of The Herd
weekdays and Noone Easter nine am Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio FS one and the iHeartRadio app HI.
Speaker 5 (10:00):
This is Jay Glazer. And you may know me for
the world of football or fighting or even shows like
HBO's Bawlers. Well you don't know is for my entire life.
I have lived in something I refer to as the
Great Depression anxiety. So now I'm coming out with a
new podcast, Unbreakable, a mental health podcast with Jay Glaser
where each week, Well, we talk about mental health. I
(10:22):
hope to describe it, give it words. Listen to Unbreakable
with Jay Glazer on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or
wherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
Chris Brusar check out First Things First, after our show
Good Seniors, OLA's bud you two, Yeah so much. At
the NBA is fit. We've talked about this there. I mean,
there's a lot of players Lebron just didn't like to
fit with, and there's other guys he loved to play with.
And we always look at talent, but Westbrook's got talent.
(10:53):
There's players he doesn't fit with. His stylistically it doesn't work.
So I uh, I think Julius Randall's productive. But you
got to remember the next last year when they were
playing well, they were playing four guards in Hartenstein. Hartenstein
can guard the five. You can't put Julius Randall on
a five. They'll get way too small.
Speaker 6 (11:13):
Sample size, Sorry about that. Sorry, well, the thing in
my throat there the sample size wall sample size.
Speaker 7 (11:19):
They played well with Hartenstein at center, it's not sustainable
over eighty two and then twenty some odd in the playoffs.
Speaker 6 (11:26):
Listen I'm not the biggest Julius Randall fan, but.
Speaker 7 (11:28):
The disrespect from you and broussarda is kind of somewhat
shocking on this front.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
I got say, I'm sitting here stunned. Stunned. I wouldn't
use that word, but okay, J Mack with a news.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
No, no, turn on the news.
Speaker 4 (11:44):
This is the Herdline News.
Speaker 7 (11:46):
So you remember yesterday we talked about Kayleb Williams and
Romadunze of the Bears.
Speaker 6 (11:50):
They don't have contracts, they were unsigned.
Speaker 7 (11:52):
Well, unbelievably, here in the last twenty four hours, the
Bears have inked a Donaze to a deal four years
twenty two point seven mil.
Speaker 6 (12:01):
He's thirteen point three million dollars signing bonus. Nice happy
for him, Bears put that out there.
Speaker 7 (12:06):
There are conflicting reports on Kleb Williams that his deal
will be four years thirty nine mili twenty five milis
signing bonus, but apparently quite to Mike Florio, the team
is still going over some of the final language in
the contract and the Bears have not made it seem
like this.
Speaker 6 (12:23):
Is totally a done deal yet.
Speaker 7 (12:25):
There is also a report that Caleb Williams was asking
slash demanding put in, uh, you can't franchise tag me
into the contract, and the Bears are saying we're not
doing that.
Speaker 6 (12:37):
So it's not totally done. But I'll go back to
what I said yesterday.
Speaker 7 (12:41):
A lot of just oddities and quirkiness over Kleab Williams.
It's not like, hey, you're the first pick, here's your deal,
sign done, move on.
Speaker 6 (12:49):
It's not quite like that. And hard Knocks is right
around the corner.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
You're a little concern for a little noisier than you'd like.
You know, I don't like noise. You like noise, no
do not like noise. I told my wife this morning.
We were talking and I said, you know, I moved
in the last couple months, and it's so quiet where
I'm at. And I said, as I'd gotten older, I
(13:14):
like quiet. I seek serenity. There's plenty of noise at work,
plenty of noise in life, plenty of noise on my
TV at home. A poor glass, little glass of peano.
Last night, turn on the Baseball All Star Game, sit back,
took the shoes off, socks off, open the door, nice
(13:34):
applia vista breeze coming off the Pacific.
Speaker 4 (13:37):
It was so nice.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
Really, could didn't hear anything? They didn't hear a dog bark.
Speaker 6 (13:41):
Do you have air conditioning? Because it's going to be
hot this weekend. It's going to touch eighty in the
south there.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
I will not be here this weekend. Oh you want
to tell you, aud I'm going to a relatively important
party this weekend where out east. You haven't told me
about this? I know it's why not.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
It's a.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
Need to know. Basis the very big party.
Speaker 6 (14:05):
Start to keep secrets from me.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
Now it is a private party out east, and I.
Speaker 6 (14:09):
Can adjust the schedule if you need me to show.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
I'm working all the way. But right after the show,
I am flying to a private party at an undisclosed
location on a very interesting area out east. Huh, there's
no pickup basketball at the party.
Speaker 6 (14:27):
Big game Sunday for the undefeated Great Foxes. All right,
let's move to the Niners.
Speaker 7 (14:31):
That weird situation with Brandon Ayuk making the trade request
to make matters worse.
Speaker 6 (14:36):
Rookie receiver Ricky Pearsall.
Speaker 7 (14:38):
Has landed on the NFL's non football injury list and
cannot practice until he's activated. We don't know what happened
or what the injury is, but something clearly happened away
from the team to Pearsaw, who was their top wide
receiver pick in the draft. There's a buzz about this kid,
but I don't want forty nine ers thinking, oh, we
(14:58):
have to sign now.
Speaker 6 (14:59):
You now that peer folks, take a deep breath. It's July.
They're not signing Ayuk anytime soon. He's not holding out.
I think we can agree. He's gonna be there week.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
One, Yeah, I think you will. But the trade deadline
in the NFL has been pushed back to week eight.
So by week eight, you're gonna know if these two receivers,
the first and the fourth rounder for the Niners, You're
gonna have a good sense if they can contribute. That's
when it gets interesting because Pearcell is actually more of
a slot and Deebo. You know they use they move
(15:30):
Debo around as a chess piece. He's more of a slot.
So we all think it's Ayuk. But is it possible
they've moved Deebo. I think it's a horrible idea. I
could send you the videos. So just paid Jennings. They're
paying Jennings Kittle, Trent Christian Fred Warner Bosa. They're paying
a lot of dudes, so.
Speaker 7 (15:50):
You can't quantify this, So the numbers guys will hate it.
But go look at the videos of when the forty
nine ers come out of the tunnel before a big game.
Who is leading the Niners. It is Deebo Samuel and
Trent Williams. They are the alphas in that locker room.
You can't just say, oh, well, let's move on from
Deebo that. That's not a smart move. There's some moves
(16:10):
in you know, sport that you can't totally quantify.
Speaker 6 (16:14):
I think it would be a disaster to move off
Deebo Samuel.
Speaker 7 (16:17):
That guy is a special player and you can't really
scheme to defend him.
Speaker 6 (16:22):
Anne McCaffrey at the same time.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
There, but they got a lot of mouse to feet, dude.
They are so lucky on Brock Purty. They are paying
a lot of guys top of the market.
Speaker 6 (16:32):
Well, Purty's also elevator. A lot of players on the team,
name a few, Yeah, Brandon Aiyuk.
Speaker 7 (16:38):
Final stories to Major League Baseball. The All Star Game
was last night show. Hey Otani, what a second at
bat of the game. Here's the call from Joe Davis.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
Joe Davis. We got the call from Joe Davis.
Speaker 6 (16:54):
Joe Davis. Well, he had a great call. Joe Davison,
awesome an announcer.
Speaker 7 (16:57):
Anyways, Otani three run shot put the National only got
three to nothing.
Speaker 6 (17:02):
Al came back and Jaren Duran, I'm not.
Speaker 7 (17:07):
Totally familiar with him, but he took home All Star
MVP is the AL one for the seventeenth time in
the last twenty one games.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
Do you know Otani? They were talking about this last night.
I watched the first six innings. Otani has an opportunity
and this is being discussed now. He's not pitching this year.
He has an opportunity to win MVP as a d H.
So he's not pitching or defending. He's just got four
(17:36):
at bats a night.
Speaker 6 (17:37):
That's awesome.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
So the guy is just different. Think about think about
what he was in golf with the start of the season.
Think about the injuries and the batting order around him.
It's literally gone. It couldn't have been bumpier. He's got
players hurt but hitting before him and after him. He's
got starting pitching out so you can pitch around him
more easily. He's not doing what he does, which usually
(17:59):
elevates his game pitching. He's out of that and he
is My guess is I mean he's number one in
merch sales, Dodgers attendance number one. My guess is he'll
be MVP and on just DH. That's crazy.
Speaker 6 (18:13):
What do you think that life is like? When you're
day you show up at the park stretch and swing
the back. I work four five.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
I've said this before. I like the idea of being
on the air regularly. I like the reps. I like movement.
The idea of doing a show once a week like
Bill Maher thirty times a year, it would eat away at.
Speaker 6 (18:32):
Me like I need.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
I like the motion. I don't like trying to create
a perfect show. I like being on the treadmill to
some degree. The idea of just sitting around in every
forty minutes getting an AB I think it would drive
me nuts, especially if I was a great athlete and
I couldn't have been you know, I mean, it's not
like you know again, it's not like I'm in my
I've passed my prime. I can only play, you know,
(18:55):
first base. I've got limitations. I've got a bad knee.
It's I think it takes a certain emotional and mental
discipline to be able to do it. Well, yeah, that's
pretty cool. Jmck of the news, Well, that's.
Speaker 6 (19:09):
The news and thanks for stopping by The.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Herd Line News live in Los Angeles.
Speaker 4 (19:15):
The Herd be sure to catch live editions of The
Herd weekdays and noon Easter not a Empacific.
Speaker 1 (19:22):
A lot of media will soft pedal a take because
they don't want blowback if they're wrong, And the Internet
has a big memory, has a vast memory, and so
you know, a lot of people just don't want to
throw it out there, and especially when it's a big
market team with a loud, vocal, passionate fan base. And
I said, you know, I'm reading a story that Nathaniel Hackett,
(19:46):
the offensive coordinator of the Jets, that Aaron Rodgers was
given a heads up that they were going to hire
Arthur Smith to call plays for their offensive coordinator. How
many Super Bowl teams have have to babysit one of
their top coaches. That's essentially what that is. And my
(20:06):
take is you look at the Jets and they have
the toughest opener in the league at San Francisco three thousand,
mile flight as they rebuild their O line. So San
Francisco you look at that and think that's a tough draw.
But there is a sense that weeks two through five
at Tennessee hosting the Patriots, the Broncos, London, Minnesota, that's
(20:27):
where they gain momentum. But Tennessee's home opener off a
probable loss at Chicago and on a short week for
the Jets because the Niners games on Monday night is
not as easy as you think. Add to the fact
that you don't really know what bo Nix and Sean
Payton are, you won't have much tape, and the Vikings
(20:48):
game is in London and those are always weird games.
Throw in the end of the season where it's at Tua,
at Trevor Lawrence, Matt Stafford, at Josh Allen and the
Miami defense. Again, I don't think the schedule screams twelve
and thirteen wins, and I'll just say it now, I
think they're an eight nine win team tops. And what
(21:12):
I used as an example earlier, I said, let me
give you a couple of teams that people like but
they have concerns about. So I'll give you some terms
about these teams. This team has an excellent head coach,
as sending star quarterback, variety of strong weapons, a great
left tackle in their prime, and no clear cut favorite
(21:35):
in division. That's the Houston Texans. But I hear things
like they're really young CJ. Stroud, sophomore slump, owners a
bit wacky. That's the Houston Texans. Come on, Colin, They'll
pull back with Trevor Lawrence healthy and Anthony Richards and healthy.
Here's another team, super Bowl winning head coach, are quarterback,
(22:00):
still elite, dependable weapons, four top draft picks on their
defensive front, and an incredibly stable and wealthy organization. That's
the Rams, and virtually nobody's picking them for anything other
than a possible wildcard spot in the weaker NFC. There's
not all. There's not universal buyers on the Texans in
(22:23):
the Rams. And you want me to buy into the
Jets as an eleven twelve win team, let me give
you things about the Rams which would seem problematic. An
unproven defensive head coach who has lost two out of
three games he's coached in the league, a prickly forty
year old quarterback coming off a major injury, A rebuilt
(22:46):
o line with an old left tackle, an offensive coordinator
that both Aaron and Robert Sala were okay, adding an
assistant to help him call plays, and at best in
pull CIV shaky ownership. You don't love the Rams and
the Texans and all the things that matter to me
(23:09):
are much better. So my take on this is you're
trying to get me to buy into stuff, and I
don't think it's a I don't think it's a Super
Bowl viable stock. I think the Rams and the Texans
maybe just slightly out of the Super Bowl bubble. They're
both very young. The Texans are very young on offense,
the Rams very young on defense. But I think they're
(23:32):
both on the precipice of if they broke through this year,
both of them ended up in a conference championship. I
wouldn't be shocked. If the if the Kansas City Chiefs
and the Texans met, I wouldn't be shocked. I wouldn't
Joe Burrow struggles to stay healthy Buffalo has been disappointing.
Diana Russini this week on the Jets offseason. This year
(23:55):
has been different than last year.
Speaker 8 (23:59):
The Jets have done it an incredible job of just
quieting the noise. Colin, remember this time last year we
were going bonkers. I was on your show like every
other day talking about the jick. Aaron looks amazing and camp.
But in terms of tempering the emotions and the expectations,
we are not going to hear Robert Saliz talked super Bowl,
(24:20):
they've learned. That is the one thing that's my biggest
takeaway of the off season from my conversations with coaches
with players, they've been humbled.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
Well, yeah, they had to be so, and I go
back to there's you know, listen, Vegas makes mistakes. Last year,
I thought they were really light on the Rams. We
were right the year before. My big bie was Minnesota.
So the last two years there's been a team that
I just didn't This year, I think they're really light
on Denver. I think the division's tough, but Hardball's got
(24:52):
a brand new staff. They don't have a lot of
ones on the outside. Kansas City still has wide receiver
issues and the Raiders are awful. So I think Denver's
going to be a seven or eight win team. I
think they're going to be closer to the Jets. I
think the Jets in Denver will be closer to each
other than anybody wants to acknowledge. Vegas sees the Jets
(25:14):
as a ten win team and sees the Broncos as
a five win team, and I think they're both in
that seven eight nine category. I think so much of
New York so much depends on early success. First of all,
remember in the NFL now preseason, veteran offensive linemen don't play.
That's a fact. Secondly, offensive line is the most important
(25:38):
instructive and cohesive unit. That's really cohesion is the offensive line.
There's a lot of talent on the defensive line, but
you can have individual Max Crosby isn't necessarily reliant on
a defensive tackle. He's going to get to his guy.
Tackles are relying on guards are relying on centers, Quarterbacks
are reliant on all of them. And the Jets have
(25:59):
a build offensive line with an old left tackle, an
older right tackle, a rookie, and Elijah vera tucker who
struggles to stay healthy, and they're not going to play
much early. So that early success like that Tennessee game
has to be a win because at the end of
the season, with a forty year old quarterback and an
old left tackle. You can't be hobbling into those last
(26:21):
five or six games. That is rough. So you know,
my take is if you told me the offensive line
geled in late September, then I think the Jets are interesting.
That's when they're interesting. But if you're going into October
and you're like, we got injuries on the old line,
it's not a very good team.
Speaker 7 (26:39):
You want to guess the Jets Titans point spread for
Week two, and you're right.
Speaker 6 (26:43):
The Jets are on a short week after playing they're
on a.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
Short week Tennessee's home opener. I would say Jets favored
by four.
Speaker 7 (26:49):
Wow, nailed it exactly. So the Jets are four point
favorites in that one.
Speaker 1 (26:52):
Now the next two weeks, well, New England's the worst
team and that's on a Thursday, so again they can
get another short week. I would say Jets are favored
by seven.
Speaker 6 (27:03):
Seven and a half.
Speaker 7 (27:04):
And then the following week against Denver, Jets have ten
days off before your big showdown with Bo Nixon and.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
They're at home against Denver. I think they'll be favored
by six.
Speaker 6 (27:13):
Seven and a half.
Speaker 7 (27:14):
So the and I just looked at it. First twelve games,
the Jets are favored in eleven. You didn't mention the
first game where they're five and a half.
Speaker 6 (27:20):
Win underdog's in San France against the best team in
the NFL. Ry Chiefs fans. Okay, they're favored in eleven
of their first twelve games.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
Can you imagine if I had to hire an assistant
to help you reading herdline news? I mean literally, like,
listen about every third story with Jason, we have to
fill in for him because he he you know, he
struggles after the second running out.
Speaker 6 (27:43):
Of gas in the third hour. Is he's very tired.
It's wearing down. Well, michae Lebron thirty nine, you know
I just wear down like that would not be great.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
Doesn't that worry you a little? Oh?
Speaker 6 (27:55):
There's certainly lots of concerns for this team. Cowhard.
Speaker 7 (27:58):
Come on, youngest playoff drought in the NFL. It's brutal,
like it's embarrassing twelve years. My kids will not root
for the Jets because they know they sing, they're like,
why do you root for the Jets?
Speaker 1 (28:09):
I always liked your kids. See you tomorrow, all right.
Speaker 9 (28:13):
We'll see you right now. Fred Rogan, Rodney Pete. We're
getting set on a five to seventy LA Sports Big
three hour program for US today and right off the
top of Eric Dickerson will join the show at twelve twenty.
Pretty cool, Rodney, Yes, E d our Man can't wait? Yeah,
what's he doing? Where is he golfing?
Speaker 4 (28:31):
Is he?
Speaker 10 (28:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (28:33):
All right, Well he'll have some off.
Speaker 9 (28:34):
Season stories for US today.
Speaker 10 (28:38):
We hope.
Speaker 9 (28:39):
Yeah. Well, otherwise it'll be pretty slow. If he just
comes out and breeze, then we're gonna have a problem.
He doesn't say anything, so he'll be on the show
twelve twenty today. All Star Game last night? Was it
me when Otani hit that home run? All I said was,
of course he did. Of course he did.
Speaker 10 (28:56):
Of course, this isn't matter of time, like Freddy Freeman said,
a matter of time.
Speaker 9 (29:00):
Yeah, of course he did it. That was expected National
League loss, But that was expected.
Speaker 10 (29:06):
But as you say, go ahead, I want to get
into him and get there. But I was, I was impressed.
The level of talent right now in Major League Baseball
is pretty impressive.
Speaker 9 (29:20):
Yeah, and a lot of young guys don't know.
Speaker 10 (29:23):
Yeah, a lot of young guys, A lot of young talent,
very talented kids out there. It's is pretty amazing talent
level right now.
Speaker 9 (29:33):
Uh, And I liked, to be honest with you, the
genuine enthusiasm and excitement Classe showed after the game when
he saved it for the American League. He's been there before,
he's done it before. But I think there's something to
be said about guys that look like they're having fun,
Guys that seem like it means something to him. And yeah,
(29:56):
I thought it was great. I thought the excitement was great.
So we'll t about that. Lakers have made a fascinating
hire as an assistant coach if you've not heard, we'll
get into that. But there's something with the Lakers I
just cannot figure out. I do not understand. It's sort
of like a political campaign when they keep feeding you
a line to try to get you to believe it,
(30:19):
but you just shake your head. They just keep harping
on something. And we should talk about that today. Dan
White Will joined the program excited about that, and Rob
Manfred had some thoughts on Ardy Moreno the Angels owner.
So we will get into that. We are locked and loaded,
we are ready to fire two minutes from now. Fred
Rogan Rodney Pete on five to seventy LA Sports
