Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Ah right now, the real football talk starts live in LA.
It's The Herd wherever you may be, however you may
be listening. Thanks for Megano's part of your day. Jmac.
You and I like to occasionally throw a few dimes

(00:46):
down on football. We like to bet, and I think
we both You bet more college basketball than I do.
I think I bet more college football than you do.
And we both bet the NFL. Neither one of us
bets baseball. I do not have a baseball, but we
love our NFL bets.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
Well, you know, you do get a little skittish giving
out all these bets on air because then people follow us,
and you know, you feel great when it hits. But
we got to remember, like fifty eight percent is good
in NFL game.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
I guess accept this. We'll go ten for ten. You
should take these as the Bible ten for ten. Okay,
Cowper's got it all right. It's our version of over under.
So they're called future bets Vegas DraftKings. The big companies
say hey, here's a number, like, for instance, h nine
and a half, and DraftKings is you have to pick.

(01:35):
Do you think your team will win over that number
or under that number? So it's over unders. It's one
of my favorite things about I love betting these. They're
really fun in college football where you've got three hundred
or one hundred and thirty teams to pick from, but
we got thirty two, so you ready to go? Yeah? Yeah,
all right? My first over the Texans over nine and

(01:56):
a half. Listen, it's a good roster and it just
got better. Stefon Diggs, Joe Mixon, Danil Hunter. Those are
really nice players. I just can't see this team in
this division going eight to nine and nine and eight.
I think they have a rising star in coaching. Is CJ.
Stroud gonna get better?

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Well?

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Didn't Joe Burrow get better in his second third year?
Like he'll be better even if it's granually better. Again,
I just like everything except ownership with this team. I
think three straight years, they've gotten everything right in personnel,
where New England three straight years has gotten everything wrong.
It may only be a ten to seven team, but

(02:36):
I just don't see it as a five hundred team.
I think they're too talented and have too much good leadership.
From GM to coach to quarterback coordinator. Those guys are
all a's. They're just gonna outsmart their way to at
least ten wins. That's my first Oh.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
Wow, Okay, I didn't know who you were doing it
like this producer's let me know. My first over is
Texans over nine and a half as well. Oh so,
I don't know if that's good or bad to start,
but Colin, they won ten games last year and Stroud
missed two because he got knocked out of the Jets game. Okay, like,
how were they nine and a half? I don't understand
what I'm missing here? Is everybody going to be betting
the Texans and maybe there's some regression company.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
I think I think the division is better. Anthony Richardson
should play.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
Frem mentally that I don't know if he's good, Like,
we don't think the Titans are that much better Jags,
I don't know I have this. The Texans are favored
in their first six games, so they have some newness.

Speaker 4 (03:25):
Five new starters on defense.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
So when you're working out the kinks early, it's against
teams you should be. Now they'll need that because the
back half of the schedule is tough, and I think
they're fine to get over ten.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
I think they're a ten to eleven win team. I mean, Diggs,
Nico Collins take down is a great team.

Speaker 5 (03:41):
Man.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
All right, here's my first under Titans under six and
a half. There is evidence in the last eight starts
with Mike Vrabel, will Levis is not an NFL starter.
Fifty seven percent completion percentage, seventy seven passer rating. Now,
he didn't have much to work with, but Rabel's a
good code, which the division I think is going to

(04:02):
be better. I think Houston, Jacksonville and the Colts will
be better. I liked all three of their drafts. So
I look at their schedule. They open at Chicago and
then with Aaron Rodgers, and they open the Jets will
have just lost to the Niners. So their home opener
looks like an L and their opener looks like an L.
And once will Levis is zero and two. The Wolves

(04:25):
are out. I'll take Tennessee under six and a half.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
Okay, my first under is uh, let's say the New
England Patriots under four and a half.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
I thought about that.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
That's my favorite under so Colin. They're underdogs in every
game on the schedule, and if you look at the lines,
it's not even like one or two. The majority of
their games they're over an underdog field goal by a
field goal, meaning like the market doesn't trust these guys
at all.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
New quarterback, new OC, new head coach.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
We're already seeing defensive injuries to bar more issue with Judahon.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
I don't like the Patriots at all. This could be
two or three win team.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
My next Denver five and a half. I've said this
over and over. First of all, they got rid of
Jerry Judy and Russell Wilson. I'll argue the locker room
will be better. Secondly, the offense wasn't the issue. They
drafted another receiver, Mims ends up being very good. They
won eight games last year. I do not think their

(05:20):
roster is as bad as everybody says. PFF has a
top ten offensive line. Bo Nicks is accurate, smart and coachable.
He'll move the chains. I don't think he'll pop, but
he'll move the chains. And again, the Raiders could be
the worst team in the league. I just cannot see
this team going five and twelve. I can see him

(05:42):
going seven and ten. I can see them not going
five hundred. But the bar is so low five and
a half. The defense, by the way, they paid attention
to that as much as they could in the draft.
I think they're a seven eight win team, all right.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
I'll go Panthers over five and a half wins. Now,
this was four and a half. It was bet up
to five and a half Collins, So somebody out there
really loves Carolina. How about this stat Last year they
went two and fifteen. They did not lead in the
fourth quarter at all. Last season, both wins were on
the final play of the game. This is a team
that nobody wants to touch. And you know how we
feel sometimes when absolutely nobody wants any part of a team.

(06:18):
Give it to me, easy schedule. I like Dave Canalis
to help Bryce Young get better. I like the Panthers
over five and a half.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
I'm gonna take the Chiefs under eleven and a half.
With Harbaugh in the division with Herbert, you're gonna lose
one of those games. They lost Legerius Snead, their top
corner Harrison, Butker comments Rashi Rice Legal troubles. This is
still a wide receiver corps that I would never trust.
This was a bad team in the middle of the

(06:45):
season ten to week fourteen. Again, they'll be fine eventually,
but they're aging at key spots like Travis Kelce the
divisions better. I see him as an eleven and sixteen,
ten and seven, but I do not see them as
a top of the AFC twelve or thirteen win team.

Speaker 4 (07:04):
Spicy. I will go under nine and a half on
the Miami Dolphins.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
Just too much newness on the defense and Colin I
love to look at schedules will be bet over unders.
The final six games of the season for the Dolphins
are tougher than anyone else in the league. Has three
cold weather games and the other ones are just brutal opponents.
So if they're not at like seven wins heading into December,
just forget about it. So I like the Dolphins going
under nine a half.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
My next over Minnesota over six and a half. They
won seven games last year with four different quarterbacks, they
have too much talent on offense, and this is a division.
Lions and Packers are not great defensive teams. Bears could
be good, but they're gonna face if you look at
their schedule, some average defenses. Under Kevin O'Connell the head coach,

(07:48):
the tall Sean McVay, they have the number three passing
offense and they've done this with a lot of different guys.
Donald won't be spectacular, but he'll move the chains. Left tackle,
running back, O line, receiver, tight end. Head coach way
above average. The NFC does not have a lot of stifling,

(08:08):
dominant defenses. I'm taking this team to be around five
hundred seven eight nine wins over six and a half.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
I'm with you. I don't have much to add out.
Let's just say one name that jumps out.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
Their running back situation last year was just horrendous. They
couldn't do anything. I think O'Connell upgraded that. I like
the weapons.

Speaker 4 (08:25):
I'm with you. Vikings over six and a half.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
Okay, so we both agree with the Viking. Yeah, under
Raiders under six and a half. A mess at quarterback.
They're the only team in the league that doesn't have
their next quarterback Aiden O'Connell can't move. He's a pocket guy.
Antonio Pierce got the job because in interim position, the
team played really hard, but the defense could regress. They're

(08:48):
incredibly dependent on Max Crosby, who's amazing, but they need help.
I just don't think it's a very good football team.
I think as hard bought. I mean, look at the division.
He read twice, Sean Payton twice, Jim Harbaugh twice. Antonio
Piers never been a head coach. I think they're a
five or a six win team. I'll take the under
six and a half Raiders I.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
Got under as well.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
I wonder is Crosby and DeVante Adams on this team
in December or that they get shipped at the deadline.

Speaker 4 (09:15):
It's his team's awful. This team has no identity, like
I don't even know who the face of the team is.
They're just not good. I think the Raiders are a disaster.
I'm with you under six and a half.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
Wow, we agree in both my next over Falcons over
nine and a half. Part of this is the division's
a mess. I like Atlanta Kirk Cousins a massive upgrade
over Desmond. Ritterer and Taylor Heineke. The o lines top
six according to PFF, and they've got really nice pieces
they couldn't use like Bjeon Robinson, Drake London, Kyle Pitts.

(09:45):
Just can't get the ball the last couple of years
to those guys. Now, those guys are gonna explode. I
think this is potentially a big over, getting close to
the over by Thanksgiving. I think this team could win
twelve games.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
I will go Eagles over as my and that's my
best bet for an over. Philadelphia Eagles over ten and
a half. Division vari sus. I think, like you said,
the Cowboys fading. I think this could be.

Speaker 4 (10:08):
Sneaky, the best offense in the NFC.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
I know we like Lions and Packers and Rams, but
I'm just telling the Saquon Barkley edition.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
We could be under selling a colin. I love the
Eagles over ten and a half.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
Okay, this isn't a strong play, but I'll take Cowboys
under ten and a half. I think they're about a
ten to seven team, incredibly reliant on CD Lamb. I
like Tony Palmer gone, I like Michael Gallup gone, I
like Tyron Smith gone. No free agent acquisitions don't think
they have any impact players from the draft. They didn't.

(10:38):
They're getting old, They're still rebuilding the offensive line. Dak
when he throws forty or more times, has a losing record.
This team has one of the weaker running back rooms.
I think Dallas is okay, but I do not see
them as an eleven win team. At best ten or nine.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
I'll go Pittsburgh Steelers. We never finished under five hundred.
Give me the under eight and a half from I'm
sorry Pittsburgh fans. Hey man, I'm back to you guys
last year. Can you pick at disappointed me? I don't
love anything about this offense this year. I think they're
an under eight and a half win team.

Speaker 5 (11:09):
All right.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
One of my stronger overs rams over eight and a half.
Sean McVay has won nine plus games in six of
the seven seasons. Puka Nakua now gives them a great
receiving corps. They bolstered their defense at corner with Tredevius White,
Darius Williams, Blake Korham. Now they've got a star running back.
This team defensively in their front is young but really

(11:32):
really talented. McVeigh maybe the second best coach in the league.
Stafford on any Sunday is as good as Eddy quarterback
in the league. I'm sorry over eight and a half.
This is an easy one. I see them as a
ten to eleven win team.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
I feel the same way about that New York Jets
over nine and a half.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
Smash that, I mean, hammer it.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
They're winning the division, Rogers, healthy offensive line, incredible defense,
elite Colin best over bet on the board, Jets over nine.

Speaker 4 (12:02):
And a half.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
Finally, my under it'll be close. Don't feel really strongly
like I said about the Cowboys, but Niners under eleven
and a half. They've become incredibly dependent Christian McCaffrey. They've
had a very noisy offseason. By the way, Kyle Shanahan
has been held under eleven wins in four of a
seven seasons. He's got a losing record without Christian McCaffrey. Like,

(12:24):
I love Kyle shanahan, but they're very much about Christian
and I think he's had a lot of carries the
last several years. So I think this is a good team.
I would not be shocked if they made a move
at the trade deadline. I think there are certain limitations.
Bad weather games for brock Purdy. We saw that when
it was a little rainy in Cleveland. I think they're
a good football team ten or eleven. I do not

(12:45):
see over eleven and a half. So I'll take the
Niners under eleven and a half.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
I have the Niners winning the Super Bowl, but also
under eleven and a half wins.

Speaker 4 (12:53):
It's nothing about it. I don't think the team got worse.
I'm kind of weak try. It's just this is a marathon,
not a sprint. Like we were close last year. We're
gonna make it again.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
And if you look at the schedule, it is difficult
with the arrest differential. Whereas they're playing on like a
Monday night, then they got to play Sunday again. The
league really screwed them schedule wise. Warren Sharp has dug
into this and got the numbers. But so I'll go
under on the Niners.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
Now, Warren's right about that, when you start getting to
week twelve, thirteen, fourteen, if you don't rest enough, it's
an issue. So there are the herds of favorite NFL futures.
We agree on Texans. We agree on the Texans. We
agree on the under with the Niners. Vikings over Yep,
we agree, So we've got some agreements there. These are five.

Speaker 4 (13:36):
You don't have Patriots.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
Interesting, I thought that was I strongly consider the Patriots.
I mean, are it came down to the Patriots or
the Cowboys. But I just think to myself, God, can't
you win five games? It's hard to be four and thirteen.
I mean, you have to be atrocious everywhere.

Speaker 4 (13:53):
Just a new coach, new quarterback, new offensive coordinator, brutal schedule.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
Diana Russini sitting patiently and waiting. I love football so much.
I just you have no idea. That's as much fun
in my life as I could have just doing talking
to you and doing over unders. I love all this stuff,
and so do you.

Speaker 6 (14:13):
I'm so glad you liked that.

Speaker 7 (14:15):
First of all, you describe me as patient. You've known
me long enough to know that.

Speaker 4 (14:18):
It's not what I am.

Speaker 6 (14:19):
It is a major flaw of mine that I need
to work on. But I get it.

Speaker 7 (14:23):
I think I think it's just the time of your
We all like to be optimistic. I love watching training
camp clips right now, seeing everyone working hard, the pads
are on.

Speaker 6 (14:32):
It feels real.

Speaker 7 (14:33):
We still have a long ways to go, though, And
I think I know I've been reminding myself of that
as I've been kind of falling down these little wormholes
of stories, and I'm like, it's August first, I got
to chill out here. But at the same time, there
is tons of really good stuff going on, a lot
of stories to get into.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
So, Mike, this has been one of my themes over
the last three weeks. Players like Justin Fields, even when
he was losing in Chicago, he was loved in the
locker room. Russell Wilson not so much. Now. Colin says yesterday,
Justin Fields has taken advantage. Okay, I know I'm not
trying to just start something here. I do think he's

(15:07):
going to challenge for the job at some point. What
do you hear?

Speaker 6 (15:11):
Absolutely, I think you go back to how this all started,
which was the pole position.

Speaker 4 (15:17):
Right.

Speaker 7 (15:17):
That doesn't mean no competition. Mike Tomlin never took that
off the table. He's a veteran, He's smart enough to
know that you never say there's no quarterback competition when
you have players in the positions that these two guys
are in.

Speaker 6 (15:30):
So from day one, this was going to be who
was going to get the edge.

Speaker 7 (15:33):
Russell just had it walking into camp because he's a
veteran and he has that experience and that time in
the league overall, but he gets hurt. He's got this
CAF issue from pushing sleds during conditioning Durrells, which I
still don't understand why they.

Speaker 6 (15:47):
Had their quarterbacks doing that.

Speaker 7 (15:50):
So from what I'm hearing over the last few days
is similar to what Mike is revealing through the media,
which is, Look, he's taking advantage of his opportunities.

Speaker 6 (15:58):
But what does that mean?

Speaker 1 (16:00):
Right?

Speaker 7 (16:00):
It's sharp, it's making his throes on time, it's understanding
what Arthur Smith is asking from him, it's learning the offense,
putting the work, and he's doing all the things that's
asked of them.

Speaker 6 (16:11):
And you point to the fact.

Speaker 7 (16:12):
That Chicago, Chicado struggled with letting go of Justin Fields.
I'm not just talking about the fans, I'm talking the building.
It was almost emotionally challenging for them and difficult for
them to make that decision when they knew it was
the right one, or at least that's what the most
of the people there, the decision makers knew it was

(16:32):
going to be the right decision for them, knowing that
they could get Caleb Williams, who will now take over.
But to see Justin getting this opportunity, taking advantagy and
seizing it. I have a podcast called Scoop City with
Chase Daniel. He spends every show talking about how he
thinks Justin Field's going to win the job. He's like,
he's got to win the job. He's going to be able,
He's that good because he now has the right support.

(16:55):
Sometimes just a change in it of environment can do wonders,
and we thought that would be the case with Russell
and Denver. We did, right, but we know that just
that match with Sean Payne is specifically that was never
going to work. But Colin, my question is, and I
had a conversation with a Gen this morning about it,
If Justin Field's win the job, win's the job, what

(17:17):
type of backup quarterback.

Speaker 6 (17:18):
Is Russell Wilson going to be?

Speaker 7 (17:20):
Yeah, that's a really really complicated dynamic.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
I think, Yeah, so there's a bite. I just didn't
like this at all. And for years and years, Green
Bay fans said, you media people are creating something out
of nothing. Would Aaron would take passive aggressive shots at
the Green Bay Packers And eventually they just said when
he came out of that darkness retreat, they just bailed
on him. They're like, enough is enough, he said, I'm surprised.

(17:44):
So he and Robert Sala, so Sala when the Egypt
trip came out. Sala's like, it's inexcused. And my take was,
you don't need to say that. Just he's gone. We
agreed to it. Just don't use in excuse. Don't use
that word. Aaron, keep score. So Aaron said this, let's
play the bite of Aaron talking about what Sola said

(18:06):
about Aaron not playing in the preseason.

Speaker 5 (18:09):
Yeah, I mean, that's that's Robert's decision. I've never told
him I don't want to play in the preseason. If
he decides he wants me to play against the Giants,
I'll strap it up and look forward to that. I
don't have any restrictions. I'm doing keepers rollouts. So it
was news to me yesterday when he said I wasn't

(18:30):
gonna play in the first two. Eric sent me that
thank you, But we hadn't even had a conversation yet
about that.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
Yeah, so we hadn't had a conversation. I didn't love that.
I'm sorry. I just I think you could have stopped
after I'll do what the coach says, what do you
what do you make am I making once again like
Green Bay? Am I making too much of all these
snippy comments at the podium by the coach and the quarterback.

Speaker 7 (18:56):
Yeah, it's like he's he's driving down the road and
then at the last second makes at a little quick,
little right and that You're like, you almost just finished
it without any drama, but of course drama and dramas
maybe being dramatic by describing it that way because I
don't sense that there are issues in the building in
terms of that relationship. I think Aaron Rodgers knows what
Robert Sala is. I think Robert Sala knows what Aaron

(19:19):
Rodgers is, and he needs Aaron Rodgers to play the
absolute best he possibly can this year in order to
help Robert Sala keep his job. And you know, after
that whole Egypt situation where you know, I was told
that that Robert Sala told Aaron Rodgers that the reason
why he said it was unexcused is he wanted to
let the world know that he runs the team and

(19:39):
Aaron Rodgers doesn't. Well, you just had him run the
team for the last year. You can't all of a
sudden just take it back, you know. I was told
that they had a good conversation, they fixed it. Everything
was good, and look out.

Speaker 6 (19:52):
On the field.

Speaker 7 (19:53):
The offense had a little bit of a rough one
or two days, but they've been sharp. A couple a
couple of bit snaps from under center, a couple little
sloppy things. We've seen some of the he did arguments.
We'll call them these animated conversations. He's having his with
his weapons. All of this is good. The building loves
this because this is where Aaron Rodgers is his best.
When he's a leader, when he's a teacher, he knows

(20:15):
how to win. So you have the ears of this
team listening to him because they know when it comes to.

Speaker 6 (20:20):
The football, the football of.

Speaker 7 (20:22):
What they're doing. That's where they want to lean into him.
And while Robert Sala apparently doesn't seem to be communicating
with his quarterback with the situation is they probably need
to work that out soon because we're going to be
spending the entire year translating what's going on between both
of them.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
So Belichick going to take the year off, and I
think that's actually sometimes getting off the treadmill for anybody
in any career is a good thing. It's hard to
improve when you're in the grind, right, And so Belichick's
now doing some media stuff with all your sources. How
is that viewed around the league? That he only got

(20:59):
one in and it wasn't apparently that serious? How is
this new venture being viewed?

Speaker 6 (21:06):
Well?

Speaker 7 (21:06):
First of all, Colin, have you ever talked to a
coach after he got fired? After he was fired, I
don't care if you're a Hall of Fame coach or
you have just a one year stint. They're physically and
mentally spent. They're a shell of themselves. I know so
many coaches who after about like two weeks after they
get fired, get horrendously sick, like in bed, can't move.

(21:27):
It's almost like the weight of everything just hits them
like a ton of bricks. And it's it's kind of
common that this is what happens after the season, even
for coaches that win. It's just when the season ends,
it's just not too over. But especially for those who've
been fired. And Bill taking a year off, who knows
what it can do for him in terms of his
own personal growth at his agent and if he's he

(21:48):
seems to be open to it. Now the guy that
hates the media is getting in front of it around
the league though, the conversations, because there's definitely ever a
little chit chatty about Look at Belichick here playing the
media darling role, going through a public relation makeover, you know,
a facelift, so to speak, to connect with those owners,
to show, look, I connect with those young people. I

(22:10):
can be cool. I can I'm not just the old
ball coach.

Speaker 6 (22:15):
I'm able to.

Speaker 7 (22:16):
Adapt, right, And it's it's interesting to watch because then
you know, we haven't seen much of Pete Carroll anywhere.
We know he still wants to coach, we don't know
where he'll wind up. And then all over social media
we're seeing Mike Vrabel with the Cleveland Browns where he's
a consultant right now out on the field doing just
old school hands on coaching, working with David Najoku with

(22:38):
the tight ends. He's sprinting across the field with Jamis Winston,
doing what he probably needs to do for his own
mental health, which is coach football. So I just find
it really interesting, Colin, to watch the different let's just
call them pr moves here from both these coaches, who
I think will both have jobs next year. Approach sort

(23:00):
of show the owners pick me, choose me, and we'll
see who's going to be the one standing at the
end here in.

Speaker 6 (23:06):
Which style work.

Speaker 7 (23:08):
The guy that's getting out in front of the cameras
staying in your face, or the guy that's showing that
he is collaborative, that he is into analytics, that he
can be open to learning other things, and he's not
a stubborn.

Speaker 6 (23:19):
New England way of doing things. So that's really been a.

Speaker 7 (23:22):
Lot of the good conversations I've been having with people
as as coaches are watching this, and I can tell
you some coaches that have the job that are worried
if they get fired.

Speaker 6 (23:30):
Those two are going to be the first ones up
for the interviews.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
Okay. Scoop City with Chase Daniel is her new podcast.
In a world where everybody's got one, this one stands out.
It's smart, it's sharp, it's funny. Diana as always have
fun in these camps. Great seeing you.

Speaker 6 (23:45):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 4 (23:46):
I'll talk to you soon, all right.

Speaker 1 (23:47):
Scoop City is the name of it. J Mac are
over unders again. Very exciting. I'm actually surprised. We agree
in the Niners. We agree on the Texans. We have
one more agreement, Vikings. We agreed on the Vikings. You
know what's it is interesting, though, I knew the Jets
would be an over for you. Well, if you could,

(24:10):
if I could pick one of yours that I don't like,
and you could pick one of mine that you strongly
disagree with, which one would you pick with mine that
you strongly disagree with?

Speaker 4 (24:21):
Well, on principle, I don't.

Speaker 3 (24:22):
I'm done like fading, Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes in
any capacity. So I think that's risky given Read's history
of going over almost every year. Yeah, I think it
would probably be that one. Well, no, no, let me
go broncos I don't I don't see.

Speaker 4 (24:38):
I don't see what you see, you know. I mean,
you're on the phone with Peyton every day. I know
you're talking to him designing plays and stuff. But uh,
I don't see. I don't see six wins from that team.

Speaker 3 (24:46):
You go down, you get down on the schedule, maybe
you can find four, but then you got to find
two more.

Speaker 4 (24:52):
And that's assuming health for.

Speaker 1 (24:53):
Well Bow, Nicks or Stidham. I think ifs because of
their O line. I think bo Nick starts and finishes
the season, and I think they have better than average backups.
Remember sixty quarterbacks played, so some of those games in
the second half of the season, bow Knicks could be
facing a backup.

Speaker 3 (25:08):
Yours real quick on my unders. If you see a theme,
four of them are in the AFC. AFC is brutal.

Speaker 4 (25:14):
If you want unders, go AFC. Take some of the
bad teams. And then I took the Niners under just
simply because I think there's a little and eleven wins.

Speaker 3 (25:23):
Eleven wins is a great season and possibly the number
one seed, but it's still not going.

Speaker 4 (25:28):
Over the total of eleven and a half.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
Yeah, I have real misgivings about the Jets over I
will tell you this, You're probably right. It's hard to
see the Steelers being like seven and ten. God, their
roster is so good. The Steelers, I love their roster.
What the defense of the they up I think two backs,

(25:52):
two receivers, good tight end upgrade to the O line.
They always get to the quarterback mink in the back end.
They always have great linebacker pursuit and you know pressures.

Speaker 4 (26:04):
You know what. I love the ingredients in my kitchen.
I love them.

Speaker 3 (26:07):
They're amazing, but I stink at cooking and I question
the offensive coaching from the Steelers to get anything done.

Speaker 4 (26:14):
Like the play calling is just so poor.

Speaker 3 (26:16):
How many times do they run last year into the
line of scrimmage first and ten runs?

Speaker 4 (26:20):
Like that's the dumbest thing you can do on offense.

Speaker 3 (26:22):
Let me just give it to the Nase Harris for
a one yard gain and then now I'm setting up
my quarterback in a second and long. I don't like
the play calling from the Steelers, but they've got talent.
Like you said, that's pretty good analogy there. You like
that with the cook and the ingredients and yeah, no,
there's something to it. When the wife says, hey, can
you make something for dinner?

Speaker 4 (26:40):
I say sure. Let me open an app find something.

Speaker 1 (26:42):
To order scrambled eggs and English muffins.

Speaker 4 (26:45):
There's our big englishmuffins and peanut butter. That's like a fallback.
I'm desperate.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
Fox Sports Radio and tire Racker giving away a set
of four tires every two weeks this summer. To enter

Speaker 2 (27:02):
One more heard. The Herd streams twenty four hours a day,
seven days a week within the iHeartRadio app. Search Herd
to listen live or on demand whenever you like.

Speaker 1 (27:11):
Keep your eyes out for a Brandon i Yuke news
of the forty nine ers. I am just told by
a source keep your eyes out in the next day
for a Brandon Ayuke story coming out. There's been speculation
what to do with Brandon Ayuk been very noisy. I'm
just told something could be around the corner with Brandon

(27:33):
Iyuk and a new deal. Jmak with a.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
News no, no, turn on the news. This is the
Herdline news.

Speaker 4 (27:42):
Okay, let's start.

Speaker 3 (27:44):
Aaron Rodgers can't stop talking about your your buddy.

Speaker 2 (27:47):
Here he is in a video.

Speaker 4 (27:49):
Watching at home at FS one.

Speaker 3 (27:50):
Aaron Rodgers getting into a shall we say, animated discussion
with Garrett Wilson on the sideline.

Speaker 4 (27:57):
It went viral. There's a lot of pointing. There's I
don't gesturing.

Speaker 3 (28:01):
You can't really tell because nobody intervenes to break it up.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
This doesn't bother me, I don't really.

Speaker 4 (28:06):
Paul wades over and is like, what's going on here?

Speaker 1 (28:09):
Anyways?

Speaker 3 (28:09):
Rogers addressed the conversation after practice.

Speaker 5 (28:12):
He's got to get on my page, but I got
to get on this page too, because he's got a
whole book that I need to understand fully of skill
set and ability and feel and rhythm and all the
different things that he does out there. So those are
good conversations. They might appear to be much more heated
than they are, but there's usually a smile on our

(28:34):
face afterwards, at least one of us.

Speaker 1 (28:37):
Yeah, that doesn't bother me at all. That's called sports.
I have a much bigger problem with coach quarterback taking
subtle shots at each other with the podium that goes
to my If you're arguing with your wife at a
party publicly, what's it like on the drive home. This
stuff doesn't bother me. That's called being a leader. Yeah.
I would rather er and be contentious or aggressive or

(28:59):
you know what I mean, instead of passive aggressive. He cares, Yeah,
Peyton Manning did this, Brady did this. I got no
problem at all with Aaron telling a young receiver, dude,
you move off the route here, not there. I got
no problem with a quarter This is called This is
called being a great.

Speaker 4 (29:16):
Quarterback, called playing sports.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
You have to.

Speaker 1 (29:18):
Bark occasionally as a quarterback. Peyton did it a lot.
A lot of bies did it a lot. Well, I've
seen Maholmes scream at his coordinators.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
Well, the people online freaking out about this clearly have
never played any sports.

Speaker 1 (29:31):
No, it's incredible to me.

Speaker 3 (29:32):
Listen, you get if Rogers got in his face, like
face to face, it was screaming at him.

Speaker 4 (29:37):
That's a different story. You know, this is what happens
in sports.

Speaker 1 (29:40):
You're here's here's what bothers me. Hassan Reddick's unsigned. That's
a problem that I don't.

Speaker 3 (29:46):
Like the Matthew Judon video where the coach comes over
to talk to him. Judaan's talking, stands up, says some
stuff and walks away.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
That ain't great.

Speaker 4 (29:53):
This has much ado about nothing.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
This is two employees won in the leadership role having
a strong conversation. I just doesn't. I mean literally, this
is nothing.

Speaker 4 (30:03):
And Garrett Wilson called the conversations enlightening.

Speaker 1 (30:08):
I'm not. That's what you call him. When I have
to tell you to cut down your herd line from
twelve minutes to nine.

Speaker 4 (30:13):
I got a lot to say, that's the bottom line.
I got a lot to get out I.

Speaker 1 (30:17):
Have to enlighten you.

Speaker 3 (30:19):
Let's get to the Detroit Lions, coming off one of
the best seasons in franchise history.

Speaker 4 (30:24):
They were within minutes of making the Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (30:28):
Off last season's success, Brad Holmes the GM doesn't want
the team to embrace the change of circumstances, saying we
always have to have the mentality of the hunter, adding
we always have to stay hungry. Dan Campbell trying to
keep his troops hungry. I saw Jared Goff got married
this offseason to the swimsuit model, and you know, I'm

(30:51):
looking at the Lions.

Speaker 4 (30:52):
Up and down. I noticed we didn't have them in
the over unders.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
I think they are. I don't trust them in a
big spot because, situationally, Dan Campbell makes decisions that are
way too emotional and not pragmatic and strategic. So I
don't see him winning a super Bowl. But I see
him being very very good. And that's what Vegas and
DraftKings On, all the big guys have him as. I
think they're a very very good football team, second third
best roster in the NFC. But I do not trust

(31:19):
in a big spot Dan Campbell situationally against the McVeigh
against the Lafleur. I don't.

Speaker 4 (31:27):
They had a big lead in the NFC championship game.

Speaker 1 (31:29):
They were in control of that Rams were one call
away from winning that game against them in a rebuild year.

Speaker 3 (31:38):
Yeah, I mean, basically I felt like Ben Johnson. I'd
have to look at my notes from the game. But
Ben got a little conservative in the second half. Remember
the offense got the ball touchdown, touchdown, touchdown to start
the game.

Speaker 4 (31:47):
But that Niners game in you look back at that colin.

Speaker 3 (31:50):
They were close to the Super Bowl. This Lions team
was right there. Rock perty heroics a drop by Josh Reynolds.
I'm sure you remember in nin er territory.

Speaker 4 (32:00):
I don't know. I like the Lion's team.

Speaker 6 (32:02):
I don't.

Speaker 4 (32:03):
I don't know if they could duplicate last season.

Speaker 1 (32:07):
I think they will duplicate it. I think they'll be
really good, but just not not great. Okay.

Speaker 3 (32:12):
Final story is basketball Team USA got the dub over
South Sudan one by seventeen, did not cover the spread
twenty eight and a half. Keep telling you be careful
betting on these guys. So the US advances to the quarterfinals.
Bam Montebayo had eighteen off the bench.

Speaker 4 (32:26):
He was spectacular. Six players in double figures.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
We seem to be the only show on TV mentioning
that Steph Curry is kind of sort of struggling at
the Olympics.

Speaker 1 (32:36):
Listening South Sudan is long, yeah, and big and twitchy. There,
They've got really good athletes. Yeah, they're they're bigs, they're wings,
they they They're a tough matchup for anybody. Yeah, I
think Steph Curry is you know, by Steph Curry standards.
He's struggling, Oh for six.

Speaker 4 (32:55):
From three against y Yeah, it wasn't great, It's fine,
and I think you can see it and listen. Curry's
my guy. I love him, My favorite player in my
men's league. I wear thirty for Curry.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
They're hunting him on defense well also every possession. He
struggled at times at the end of last season. He
is on the back nine. I mean, I think he's
one of those guys like Christian McCaffrey, still great, but
how many carries can Christian McCaffrey get again this year?
How many games can Steph Curry completely carry the Warriors?
Whereas Lebron at least has an ad who Draymond's not

(33:26):
a score so If Steph doesn't play, Warriors get smoked.

Speaker 4 (33:31):
It's weird.

Speaker 3 (33:33):
Remember how we talked about like in Olympics past, there
was a lot of recruiting to try to team up
and join forces. There's not a lot of chatter about
that coming out of this, but I'm telling you every
video I see, Steph Curry is hanging out closely with
all these like one on one with Anthony Edwards, going
to talk at tracks with Ping Pong, Steph Curry and
Lebron always talking about their chemistry. I just wonder if

(33:54):
Curry is seeing all this talent around him, knowing he's older,
knowing the Warriors are kind of slide downhill and just
sman o fun.

Speaker 1 (34:02):
As hev well. I mean they are totally reliant on
his scoring now, totally like Lebron could not play and
with a Dan Reeves they can win games they did
last year. Like if Steph doesn't play, you can't get
there's no points he had like a twenty five one team. Yeah,
Jmac with a News.

Speaker 2 (34:20):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and noon eastern nin am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
FS one and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 8 (34:30):
Hey, I'm Doug Gottlieb. The podcast is called All Ball.

more about the stories about what made these people love
their sport and all the interesting interactions along the way.
We talked to coaches, we talked to players, We tell
you stories. You download it, you listen to it. I
think you like it. Listen to All Ball with Doug

(34:52):
Gottlieb on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you
get your podcast.

Speaker 3 (35:00):
Tomorrow night on Fox, the baddest superstars on the planet
are unleashed in primetime for WWE Friday Nights SmackDown. Don't
miss network television's biggest spectacle, live at eight seven Central
on Fox.

Speaker 1 (35:16):
Very interesting story with women's basketball U con star Paige
Becker's inks an nil deal with unrivaled basketball league, per
a report. So she's gonna make more money with this
new basketball league two hundred and fifty thousand than Caitlin
Clark makes in the WNBA. That's why I preached when

(35:41):
you get momentum, when you get a moment you better
take advantage of it. You better put her in the Olympics,
you better ride. She's Taylor Swift and sneakers, there may
not be another tour like Taylor Swift forever. Ticketmaster you
better be ready, and they weren't. So what is this saying?

(36:02):
This new league, it's created by WNBA stars like Breonna Stewart,
one of the better players in the league. It's saying translation,
treat us better. Brianna Stewart. Her quote when they created
this league was for years, women have relied heavily on
off court sponsorships for a majority of their income. With unrivaled,

(36:23):
we're prioritizing our stars and ensuring their on court performance
is reflected in their pay. Verys is live golf. Mickelson complained,
you started hearing golfers complain about where's all the money going.
Why are we not respected? Why are stars not taken

(36:45):
care of? You've seen this with all Bellatar with UFC.
This is where rivals happened, the ABA, with the NBA,
that's where it comes from. Take care of your stars.
They move to a different, you know, platform, former league.
So you don't get you're not gonna get another Caitlin Clark.
You're not getting another one. So you get her in

(37:07):
the All Star Game, the three point shooting contest, the Olympics.
We all know she's good enough to be on the
Olympic team. The other last gamers two ago they played Japan.
Japan didn't have a player taller than six to one.
I mean, it was insane. It was it was jv
against the varsity. It was like, you couldn't have Kitlin
Clark eight minutes it would have helped. And and by

(37:28):
the way, to that point, of the six women's Olympic
basketball games, the least attended Olympic game was a USA
versus Japan. The most dominant dynasty in Olympic history was
the least attended. Why Caitlin Clark wasn't there, didn't she
wasn't going to be a distraction. It's a distraction, She's not.
So this is the WNBA. They're they're you know, they're

(37:50):
still playing classic rock and you got Taylor Swift on
your hands. What are you doing? But I mean, Diana
Tarassi at one point went overseas for a year. She
went overseas for a year to play one of their stars.
So when it comes to WNBA, the Caitlin Clark early
schedule was awful. They didn't pay for her to get

(38:11):
into the three point shooting contest. They didn't put her
on the Olympic team. You get one Bryce Harper, a
high school kid good enough to play in the majors,
like you get one Tiger Woods. We've heard for twenty years, Oh,
this guy's going to be the next Rory mcor No, no, no, one,
Tiger Woods. There's not going to be another tour in
America like Taylor Swift for twenty years. So this is

(38:33):
what Live Golf was. You gotta take care of your stars.
Phil Mickelson complained about it for years. That's one of
the reasons I supported Live Golf. What's the loyalty to
the PGA. They don't control the Masters. All the tournaments
I like watching aren't controlled by the PGA, USGA, you know,
Saint Andrews, the British Open, just San j Matck. Keep

(38:55):
your eye on this, this unrivaled league. This is star
WNBA players saying you're not taking care of us.

Speaker 4 (39:04):
Interesting take. I'm reading about the league now. So it's
a three on three basketball.

Speaker 1 (39:08):
League paying more than WNBA.

Speaker 3 (39:10):
Do you remember when Ice Cubes league, let's.

Speaker 1 (39:15):
Say AM's three three ball or something. Yeah, big three, Yeah,
big three.

Speaker 3 (39:18):
They invited Caitlin Clark to play and we're going to
pay her money And she said no. I mean, I'm
not saying that this idea came out of that, but
I wonder if they saw the money being offered to
kill Clark by ice.

Speaker 1 (39:29):
Q, well, the Ice Cube League. One of the fundamental
issues is the NBA does pay it stars. Yeah, so
I mean, why would you in the NBA go there?
Because the NFL pays it stars, Baseball pays it stars,
Hockey pays it stars. The w NBA does not.

Speaker 3 (39:47):
Well that's because I think the NBA owns them and
basically was like, the WNBA is a losing product financially
for the NBA for years.

Speaker 1 (39:54):
But they've set up a structure financially where they don't
even pay their stars.

Speaker 4 (39:59):
Well, i mean, how much can you pay them when
the league's losing money every year?

Speaker 1 (40:04):
Well it was for a while, a lot, a lot
when it's subsidized by somebody else.

Speaker 4 (40:10):
Yeah, I'm sure the NBA.

Speaker 1 (40:11):
By the way, even you know, you w NBA was subsidized.
You got to pay your stars or your stars will leave.
It's like the movie business.

Speaker 3 (40:19):
You pay Okay, where were they going to go?

Speaker 4 (40:21):
Okay, you want to go play.

Speaker 1 (40:22):
Well, they go over seas, goes to Russia.

Speaker 4 (40:25):
I had that work out like.

Speaker 1 (40:26):
Well, you know, but that was I mean, the bottom
line is, where are you going to go overseas? The
only way for the w NBA to succeed, the only
way was to maintain your stars.

Speaker 4 (40:36):
Well, the only way is to make money on them.

Speaker 1 (40:38):
No, that's not true. A lot of companies sell not profitable.
That's not true.

Speaker 4 (40:41):
Okay for how long though?

Speaker 1 (40:43):
Well, I'm saying the Athletic sold for four hundred million,
it loses forty million a year. It's still losing forty
million years. It's viable because they have a No, they
still loses money. It's sold, and it's viable because it
has top riders. They they take care of their top writers.

Speaker 4 (41:00):
So WNBA has been around twenty years now, twenty is
and you're losing money every year. Who's going to put
more money into that?

Speaker 1 (41:07):
It's not it's subsidized.

Speaker 4 (41:09):
Yeah, exactly, the NBA saying, hey, well they're not a
little bit, but we're not putting a lot. We're not
paying who else.

Speaker 1 (41:15):
Well, that's why I continually say when you do get
a Caitlin Clark, now don't slow build it. You put
her into everything, you pay her whatever you got to
pay to get her in the three point shooting contest.
There is no no. The answer is yes, There is
no no. What do I have to pay to make
you play? Everybody's got a number, including Kitlin Clark. I

(41:36):
need rest four million, I need rest six I don't
need rest. Hour three next,
