Speaker 1 (01:49):
What's up, guys, Welcome to a brand new episode of
Funk in the Champ. I'm Daniel Cormier. That's my man
been asking today. We're gonna talk about this sphere because
everybody's talking about this sphere.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Of course.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Then we're gonna talk a little bit about Madison Square
Garden card getting announced and something John Jones said at the.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
Sphere that was recorded.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
I don't know how these guys continue to get themselves
recorded in public.
Speaker 4 (02:11):
Maybe they should learn something from.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
Maybe they want to be recorded.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
It's crazy how they get retarded recorded. And at the
end of the show, guys, we got Funky's Corner where
I'm gonna lay out, and then Ben Askern is going
to have his time in the show to do and
discuss whatever you want.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
Today.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
He's going to discuss his new book, which just came
out yesterday. Ben the sphere Man.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Sure amazing.
Speaker 5 (02:35):
You know, I was sitting back Daniel and I was thinking,
I get to talk to Daniel this week, and I
was I was wondering. You know, sometimes in life it's
one of those things like.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
How in the hell did I get here?
Speaker 5 (02:46):
I remember when I stepped on the Masters to Jordan
Burrows and sold out crowded Madis Square Garden.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
I thought, Number one, why am I wrestling this guy?
Number two?
Speaker 5 (02:54):
I sold out a crowded man Square Garden. Oh my god,
isn't my life great? Are you sitting there as the
announcer at you know, your kind of at the center
of this and you're thinking, holy shit, like how did
I get here?
Speaker 4 (03:05):
Dude?
Speaker 1 (03:05):
I swear to god, there were so many pinch me
moments on Saturday because so many things got promised to
us as.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
To what that event would be, and I thought it
was better.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
You know, I was sitting next to the octagon, and
you understand how enormous this situation is when you really
just start to take note of everything, Right, you see
all the rehearsals, and you see all the screens and this.
But then when the crowd starts to filter in, and
then you got Jeff Bezos right next to you, and
you got Ari Emmanuel and all these high end celebrities
and the people that matter the most happened to be
(03:40):
at this once in a lifetime thing.
Speaker 4 (03:41):
You go wow.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
And then you watch a sport that started in Alabama
in a high school auditorium on that stage.
Speaker 6 (03:51):
So yeah, it's crazy.
Speaker 4 (03:54):
It's crazy it's started in the high school auditorium.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
But it's not just about what I'm feeling. I think,
I think the excitement came from within, but also just
taking note of where we are as a sport and
how the UFC is just continuing to grow. You I
would never have imagined the UFC would have gotten to
this point. It's absolutely insane to think how big this
thing is becoming.
Speaker 5 (04:16):
Yeah, I agree, I mean that presentation was so cool.
It's obviously not something they need to do every time.
But I also hope it's not the last time. I
hope at some point in the future, maybe it's every
two years or something. Every once in a while. It
was it was just really cool to see something presented differently.
Those backgrounds, I mean, I don't know what they looked
(04:38):
like in person, but it was so wild on TV.
How it looked three dimensional, looked like there was depth,
and you know.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
It was crazy.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
Yes, you know, I was actually I was actually sitting
there watching, Like every time they would do these little films,
right they call them films, yep, every time they would
do a film, I would literally take my headset off
and start to watch because I needed.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
To be locked in. It was awesome.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
The way that the world would change and just fall
and the next fight will take.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
Place in a completely different arena. It was.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
It was I don't know how much time and effort
went into doing that, but it seems like, dude, they
had two TV trucks.
Speaker 4 (05:21):
They had two of them.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
They had We didn't see the producers of the show
the entire week, no fighter meetings, no nothing. They were
always at the sphere trying to get this place ready.
Now you said something. He said, not something they got
to do every time, but I'd like it to be
another time that didn't go back.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
But here's here's the question in that regard, right.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
Wasn't that special because it was supposed to be awesome
in a lifetime. If we start doing it, if it
start doing it every year, doesn't become a little bit expecial.
Speaker 5 (05:50):
I said, maybe not even once a year. Maybe you know,
every couple of years. Maybe you pop off for a
Fourth of July show with you they do fight weeks.
Maybe imagine two years from now, celebrating America something to
that effect.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Hey, I said, I was talking to John Anick about
this chested acid. We could do a love letter to
the United States of America.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
We may need to.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
Like kind of like, you know, leave a few things
out here and there if I need to navigate around.
But as we navigate around some of the history of
the United States, I think it would be a fantastic presentation.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
Yes, but yes, it was awesome.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
And you know what was cool watching the fighters hit
the curtain and some of them take a note like
snow saw.
Speaker 6 (06:36):
Sean's face, Sean did see it, bro.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
If you watch Sean on his walk, he walks out,
and he kind of goes then he tries to lock
back in.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
You could see it take.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Him like it surprises him, and then he tries to
like lock back in. I don't know if I could
have ignored all that was going on around me if
I was out there fighting, could you?
Speaker 5 (06:56):
I mean, it would have been you would have had
to try your best.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
You have I ever competed it?
Speaker 5 (07:02):
I mean, I don't think I've ever competed with something
like that going on.
Speaker 4 (07:05):
I think, like, inside the fight, you'd be fine.
Speaker 6 (07:08):
I think, yeah, you do your best. I think do
you stop?
Speaker 3 (07:11):
Mill fight said, oh my god, look at that.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
So I think what happens is I think inside the
fight it is just an octagon, right, It's just an octagon.
I think where it becomes a bit overwhelming is when
you start to walk towards the octagon. But hey, the
fight card, we had some good.
Speaker 4 (07:30):
We had some bad.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
I disagree with the bad.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
No, we had some bad. We had some bad.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
Look I'm not gonna sit there and say Rob Dwallers
Vielli's fight was bad.
Speaker 4 (07:39):
I thought that was pretty good.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
I thought the Valentine Show, Chanko versus a Lexicossow fight
was just bad.
Speaker 5 (07:45):
I thought it was, so I can I can agree
with that, But then to that, I would say, that's
kind of what I expected, right then, not the first
time Valentine has done it, and so I guess maybe
I had an expectation. And I made a video on Awa,
Wisconsin YouTube yesterday. I did my first MMA video and
it's like, Daniel, I'm sure you're you're you're a Saints fan, right, Well, yeah, okay,
(08:11):
so at some point, I'm sure the Saints have played
like a super defensive.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
Game or maybe ran the ball way too much.
Speaker 6 (08:17):
To get to win.
Speaker 5 (08:18):
And we're in we are in sport, not only entertainment,
so sometimes that's what you're gonna get.
Speaker 4 (08:24):
Well, I'm you know what was crazy to me? Yeah,
looking at the Sean O'Malley Morob du Wallace really fight,
and how so many people expected O'Malley to win when
in most cases you have a dominant wrestler like this
going to get the striker. People take the wrestler.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
But I don't know what made them believe that he
would be the guy to do something different.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
Maybe it was the aljam Sterling fight.
Speaker 5 (08:47):
Yeah, I think that was Yeah, I think there was
al Josa in my head going into the Sean O'Malley
Morob fight. I had, on the one hand, you have
the Algro fight, right, he looked great, and the other
hand and you had like the Peter Jon fight, where
you know, I scored it for Peter Jan, and Jan
got a handful of takedowns and I was like, Okay, well,
(09:08):
you know, has he evolved his wrestling defense, you know,
as he elevated himself.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
But I was very split on who to pick in
this fight.
Speaker 5 (09:16):
But I think I ended up picking Sean, and I
just thought, you know, you did do I think so?
Speaker 3 (09:21):
I mean, but I you know, I acknowledge it.
Speaker 5 (09:24):
Hey, like, for me, it's almost a coin flip, but
I'm gonna lean towards Sean.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
Morabo was the favorite to start, and then by the
time the fight came, Sean was like a minus one
sixty one forty favorite, which is crazy. It switched quite
a bit from start to finish. No cha UFC was amazing.
I thought that all the history of the Mexican culture
was fantastic.
Speaker 4 (09:45):
It was awesome.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
Hey, Dana White said last night he's thinking about doing
No cha UFC next year in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
I know that is where's Guadalajara. I'm looking Mexico.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
I know Mexico.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
It does not matter where in Mexico. If they did
no jay ufc in the town, it would be crazy.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
What about the Aztec Pyramids, Dude.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
We have Mexicans that live in America that go crazy
at no jay ufc. Imagine going to Mexico and having
no ja ufc where their culture, which is a beautiful
culture is put and highlighted like that, Dude, it would
be sick.
Speaker 4 (10:26):
Yo. The boy Luise, bro Louise had the greatest seat
of all time.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Ben was there.
Speaker 4 (10:34):
He was there, Bro Louis.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
So did you see that those like to the like
next to the octagon, there was like some bleachers kind
of set up, like some fake bleachers right there where
all the fighters were. Michael Chandler was sitting there and
all those people.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
Yes, Luis was right next to Hims.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
Louis got the greatest seat in the arena, sat right
next to balal Mohammad and justin Gaigee. If there's a thug, hey, look,
if you want to feel like maybe your job doesn't
make you as important as you want just know that
you has just engaged in with Laamahammad, who still fight
for the company won the champions You got the same
seat as Louise.
Speaker 5 (11:09):
I think Louise needs to recognize you, Daniel, because Sean
O'Malley's producer was crying the other day because he didn't
get invited to the after party.
Speaker 6 (11:16):
And here you are getting Louise front row seas the
freaking greatest.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
UFC May's producer was mad, Okay, that was what I
saw on YouTube on Twitter.
Speaker 6 (11:27):
You can't matter, Louise, fact check me. But I'm pretty
certain I'm right here. I'm pretty certain.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
Louise chatro.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
Telling everybody all week.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
I'm like, I've been spending so much time with Ben,
I'm turning into Ben because now I believe everything off Twitter.
Speaker 4 (11:50):
Bro, it's so bad. Sean O'Malley's producer was sad.
Speaker 6 (11:55):
I'm gonna gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna search it.
Speaker 4 (11:57):
Why would why would he not take him to the
after party?
Speaker 6 (11:59):
World, That's what I'm saying, Conference fucking massive. Yes, I
was right.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
Wait he's crying, are you?
Speaker 6 (12:15):
Yeah? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (12:17):
That dude should be fine. That dude should be fine.
That should be that.
Speaker 6 (12:21):
Lais, Do you realize how great of a job you
had with you? I know this guy's making us for
a cry.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
He's over here getting your prom ro seats.
Speaker 6 (12:28):
Can you see the difference here, Lais?
Speaker 4 (12:30):
Oh my god, he was crying?
Speaker 3 (12:34):
How about how I was right? I watched you were right?
Speaker 4 (12:37):
You were right. That's very rare. Ben, Hey, we take tonnerre.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
Maybe next time, maybe next time, Maybe next time Luis's
ass gets left outside the building. Man, forget, that's crazy,
like Charlonvalley's producer.
Speaker 4 (12:50):
That's oh no UFC. Ch was awesome.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
Man. I got a jersey, Ben, I got this sick
no j UFC jersey that I'm gonna wear. And hey,
I brought one for King's Laz. Because kave Alaskaz can't go. Dude,
he's on house arrest. He's on house arrest. He can't
leave to go watch the fight. I tried to invite
him to a concert. I tried to invite him to
a concert and make him security because if he worked,
(13:15):
if he's working, he can actually go do stuff. But
it didn't work out. For it was a great idea
in theory, but it didn't work out. He wasn't real
willing to risk it, Ben, as we spin it forward, Uh,
we go to Salt Lake City, Alex Praira versus Klo Rauntree.
But the one that follows is the one that mostly
super excited about, as John Jones will finally return and
(13:36):
fight Steve A. Miochicch and Michael Chandler was announced to
be fighting Charles Olavera in a rematch. John Jones was
in the arena on Saturday, Ben, So, as it always happens,
I'm sitting there doing my job.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
Guess who always comes up to say hi to me?
Speaker 6 (13:54):
John, I can't stop it.
Speaker 4 (13:57):
It happens every time.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
I thought you buddies now, but we're not buddies. Like
I don't like, we're not buddies. I don't like, we
don't really talk. But it's like every time it's like
you end up in the situation where you're shaking hands.
Speaker 5 (14:14):
I mean yeah, I mean I get I find like,
for example, I find moles Bell to be annoying as
ship and you know, most people probably don't feel that
same way, and you probably feel that way about John Jones,
and most people probably don't feel that way.
Speaker 6 (14:26):
So I understand that it's part.
Speaker 4 (14:28):
Of have you seen George Mansmidal since you guys have all.
Speaker 5 (14:31):
This, I've seen him shake hands when you see him. No,
I don't think i've seen him, and I don't know
if I would shake hands. He said, ayone know what happened?
He said, the whole food So I'm waiting from the
show with the whole foods.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
It's such a weird thing, right, So like I don't
really care anymore. So we just kind of shake, shake
his hand and go about my business.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
Right.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
I'm doing my job as he's doing his. But he
was in the arena right as was every body was
in the arena last weekend. It was oh my god,
first off, or let's talk about this. But I have
I he wasn't there.
Speaker 5 (15:07):
Was he?
Speaker 6 (15:07):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Oh my god, bro, I know, I know.
Speaker 6 (15:13):
He's so arrested. I listened to his charges that mom,
he's going to jail forever.
Speaker 4 (15:18):
It's so bad.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
He's going to jail forever.
Speaker 6 (15:21):
Help.
Speaker 3 (15:21):
You don't like P Diddy?
Speaker 4 (15:22):
Did he had a thousand containers of lubrication?
Speaker 3 (15:25):
Oh my gosh, you heard that.
Speaker 6 (15:27):
I hope it's not wrong.
Speaker 4 (15:31):
You can't make a joke about this stuff, man, You
cannot make this shit a joke. I said, he's going
to jail. There's no joke going to joke. He is
going to jail. But like I always wonder, like who
are like who was.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
At these freak calls? Like who was at these freak calls?
I have a sneaky suspicion that some of the names
that were there are gonna start coming.
Speaker 4 (15:50):
To light because this clientless where it is just one
hundred years. Yeah, he des it. He's looking at one
hundred years. That was start telling on people. He gonna
start telling on people about the videos.
Speaker 6 (16:04):
Well hey, uh that's kind of what he's in trouble for.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
Well, he's in trouble for a lot of things, man,
not just not just that he's in trouble for a
lot of things. But uh, hey what I was doing
the podcast with my cousins and we were like hanging
up as it was ending, My nep he goes, so
wait are we not gonna talk about Diddy?
Speaker 4 (16:22):
And it just went black. Was like trying not to
touch the whole Diddy situation. It was crazy though. It
was so crazy.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
Anyhow, anyhow, speaking of a wild boy, John Jones a
wild boy. So the other day, not Diddy wild what
John Jones A wild boy. John Jones was caught on
camera saying that this fight is his last fight guaranteed.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
What do you make of that?
Speaker 5 (16:50):
Oh, I hear it with a note of sadness because
I want to see him by time. All I've said,
it doesn't appear to be happening. It really sucks, you know,
Tom Asperall. Uh, I mean it sucks that I have
to like speak against step A because I'm nothing against him.
Speaker 6 (17:08):
I actually think about step A favorably. Uh, But he
hasn't fought in forever.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
It's like I just don't understand.
Speaker 5 (17:14):
I know he's had great results, but it's in four
years or something. And so it's like tom Asbaall has
been out here in the streets beating everyone up. I
would love to see Tom Aspinall off versus John Jones,
and you know, honestly. And then the other Ghana was
somewhere else also, So this is a case where we're
just not getting to see the best guys fight the
(17:36):
best guys, and it sucks.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
Maybe we're spoiled.
Speaker 4 (17:39):
You are spoiled.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
And I said the next one after that, but I've
skipped over Abu Dhabi, which might be the deepest fight,
call the way into for you in all those great fights.
So but in New York City, John Jones will fight
Steep and milchicch and in terms of name recognition, this
(18:02):
is the fight that you want. In Madison Square Garden
one thousand percent, Michael Chandler will fight Charles Olvera in
a rematch. Dude hearing Jones say, are hearing the rumor
that Jones said, this is it for me? It sucks
because I do believe that there is some work left
to be done with Aspinall.
Speaker 4 (18:24):
Mainly I don't think.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
I don't think any anyone else right now warrants him
sticking around.
Speaker 4 (18:29):
I really don't because we saw what he did to
Cyril Gun Well.
Speaker 5 (18:33):
Yeah, but the problem is this is that Tom Asperal
has proved he's this guy. And so when we have
this guy and John Jones has been actively kind of
actively fighting, so you know, not not super active, but
it's like, we.
Speaker 6 (18:47):
Want some Why can't we see him? We want to
see him.
Speaker 3 (18:49):
They're both there, put them together.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
No, I understand, but there's one guy that could warrant
him sticking around, and that's Tom Aspinall. But if he
doesn't want to fight Tom aspinall then it does not
matter what he's doing, right, he could just be sitting
around making money. You know, John Jones just bought like
a five million dollar house. I saw a picture of him,
like a five mill house.
Speaker 6 (19:10):
Andy, But but.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
He also like he also like lives in New Mexico, right,
you got like you actually have to live in New Mexico.
Speaker 4 (19:19):
To get them. But that's a beautiful house.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
Guys obviously doing well, probably just doesn't want to fight anymore.
And so what happens, right you walk away? I believe
that when push comes to shove, they may nudge him.
If he gets through Cipe, they nudge you, They nudge you,
they nudge you, and then you end up getting more
(19:43):
money and then you ultimately fight. But now it's a
Aspnaul's officially the backup fighter. But what happens, ben if
somebody gets hurt, say okay, I'll fight Tom Aspnault. Which
one of them will actually stay in the fight? Come on, dude,
come on, do it?
Speaker 4 (20:01):
Do it? Come on? Pavlovich.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
Pavlovitch was the backup fighter in New York City when
Jones and Steepay was scheduled to fight the first time
Jones got hurt, Steepe pulled out, Aspalal fought against Pavlovich.
There is no guarantee that because he's the backup fighter,
somebody's gonna fight him.
Speaker 4 (20:18):
I would almost guess. I would almost guess that if.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
Someone gets hurt, tom Asmanov stays on the card and
he fights neither one of those guys that way.
Speaker 6 (20:31):
I mean, uh yeah, I'm I'm in for it.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
What do you think you?
Speaker 6 (20:36):
Tom Asbnon wants to fight.
Speaker 5 (20:38):
He shows up and he fights people. Also, how did
you know that property tax rates in New Mexico were
the lowest in America?
Speaker 3 (20:43):
Very low. I'm the lowest in America.
Speaker 4 (20:47):
I never said that. I wish I was that smart
what I.
Speaker 6 (20:50):
Said in New Mexico.
Speaker 4 (20:52):
Yes, that's all I said. I didn't say property tags
were the lowes's in the country. I did not know that.
But good for Jones, Yeah he ain't.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
Either one of those guys are fighting tom Masbinall if
they don't have to it to be tom Asberall versus
Cyril Gunn or somebody for the interim championship, because those
guys are fighting each other and nobody else been. Hey,
you boy, Michael Chandler's fighting.
Speaker 4 (21:15):
What do you think happened? What do you think? What
do you think moved Mike off of his stands that
he was waiting for Conk.
Speaker 5 (21:21):
I almost tweeted this the other day. I got distracted,
and so I'm gonna say it right now. This is,
you know, because it's gonna make this the biggest podcast
in h in MMA, we might already be. I think
we're people's favorites. I think, yeah, we're doing really good.
We're doing really good. No, it's pretty obvious to me
that Conor McGregor is an addict, and he is realismatic enough,
(21:45):
rich enough that it doesn't really have a hugely negative
impact on his life. And so everyone kind of is like,
let him do what he wants to do. But it's like,
this guy clearly is out partying. Can't show up for
a training camp, and then he canter up for training camp.
You can't get ready to fight. I mean there's there's
videos of him partying constantly, and listen. If you're rich
(22:06):
and famous, then I guess you're not murdering anyone or
anything worse. When you're going to go to jail, I
guess fine, whatever you go with your life. But he
did kind of drag on this fact that he was
gonna fight for two years. So it's really annoying. But
I probably I was probably on record srding he's not
fighting twenty two eighty three. I was on record saying
Michael Chandler should move on and just say, hey, you're
(22:28):
not a serious fight anymore. You're an addict and you
can't train. I've said that many times. And so I think,
for me.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
What's what's the addicted to drugs or alcohol? Probably both
think he's just out there fucking just going crazy.
Speaker 5 (22:42):
Well, I mean, listen, I don't know that I can
make any uh pronouncements without actually having seen him do it.
But I watched a videos to know that this guy's
out of control. He's partying constantly, uh, and you know
from all all rumors he's on multiple substances.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
Remember Chaill told me at one point he was going
he was in reh That's why he didn't fight. Conor
McGregor is in rehab for alcohol and drugs, and that's
why the fight was canceled.
Speaker 4 (23:05):
Chille said that on ESPN.
Speaker 6 (23:07):
I mean, he might be right.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
I don't I don't know, dude, Like I told Chaill
this the other day too.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
Like Jamill Kelly made a statement, he goes, may you
just believe everything Chilling Ben said, I go, whatever, there were.
Speaker 4 (23:19):
Friends that we do these podcasts.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
He's like, dude, be on Twitter, you just be believing
everything they say. I was like, man, I think, uh.
Speaker 5 (23:29):
Maybe he went to rehab and he broke out because
I just see a party in all the time.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
Dude, I don't know, Like rehab doesn't seem to work
for everybody, because some people remember that one time John
Jones was in rehab.
Speaker 4 (23:40):
For twelve hours but he was crazy. Yeah, he went
to rehab for like remember that they don't make you stay.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
Rehab should be like well when you go, you're like
obligated to stay for a certain amount of time, like jayl.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
Like almost like prison.
Speaker 4 (23:53):
Hey you know what happened to the other day been
it was the craziest together. So I'm watching Netflix right.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
And this uh you know, like it plays next, like
something plays next. So this documentary about John Gasey comes on.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
Oh he was he was like a murderer, right yo.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
So I'm watching this thing right and Gaysey is in
episode one. He's a normal house husband, he's a husband
in his house, he has a business, and they're talking
about him.
Speaker 4 (24:25):
And I'm watching it.
Speaker 1 (24:26):
Halfway through the episode and because they're saying John, they're
saying John Gaysey. Then they start they start going Gaysey Gasey, Gasey, Gaysey.
So that I'm watching it and I look over to Cassan.
I go, hey, Cassan, She's like what. I was like,
I think this guy Gaysey did it.
Speaker 4 (24:39):
Man. I was like this guy. I was like cracking
the code bin.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
I had figured out the killer in episode one, not knowing, ah,
not knowing. I was watching a documentary about the killer
clown John Wayne Gacy.
Speaker 6 (24:56):
Yeah he was a longtime murderer or something, kill thirty
something people.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
But I literally thought I felt so proud of myself.
I was like, I'm crying. In episode one, I was like,
I think I know who did it. I was like,
I think it's Gayzy. And then Cassandra looks at me
and goes, you stupid idiot. His name is John Wayne Gaysey,
the killer. I go, oh my god, it's the killer cloud.
But they weren't saying Wayne John Wayne Gasey. They were
(25:21):
saying Yaysey Gasey, Gaysey.
Speaker 5 (25:23):
He might have been from Wisconsin. Unfortunately he wasn't Wisconsin, right, wasn't.
Speaker 4 (25:29):
He was living in Illinois, but I think he was
from Wisconsin. It's so bad. He was such a weird dude. Man,
Oh my god, I had.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
Some like I was having trouble sleeping last night after
watching this dude, I was.
Speaker 6 (25:41):
I was having trouble, you know, Oh you're funny.
Speaker 4 (25:45):
I was having trouble.
Speaker 5 (25:47):
Let's get off John Wayne Gacy and giving kids nightmares
and back to MMA where we're having fun.
Speaker 4 (25:53):
Dude, it was awesome.
Speaker 6 (25:54):
It was god.
Speaker 4 (25:55):
It was a he got killed, bro.
Speaker 1 (25:57):
They actually executed him in only fourteen years. They got
people to sit on death row for thirty years.
Speaker 4 (26:04):
They've got it crazy years.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
Huh, that's crazy that they sit that long on death row. Anyhow,
been asking, all right, we want to start this new
segment for you is called Funky's Corner, where I give
you some time to talk about a topic that you
found on Twitter or maybe on a true social.
Speaker 6 (26:23):
The not on that one.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
You find one of those, like one of those types
of social media platforms.
Speaker 3 (26:31):
I can sell kinds of things. I could just go
on forever.
Speaker 4 (26:34):
You got a little bit of time.
Speaker 5 (26:35):
Ben. Okay, Well, hey Daniel, I want to ask you this.
Have you checked out my new book, Extreme Balance? I
would have sent you one, but I know you don't
love to read.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
Well, you already sit already bought a hope, I bought
a whole bunch of books from you, just the other.
Speaker 6 (26:47):
Journal that was a journal that was a wresting journeal
for your athletes.
Speaker 5 (26:50):
Yes, yeah, this is a book. It's about it's about uh,
extreme balance. So you know, I don't even know if
you know this. We interviewed athletes for this book. So
my buddy Jerr Meersharts in there, Chris Widman, I attempted
to interview you. No, you wouldn't. You wouldn't show up
for a phone call. So I didn't want to bug
you too much. I asked you like once or twice,
and then yeah, series, yeah, So it's about it's about
(27:12):
the balance of mindsets. And so for example, I'll give
you an example. Say, let's see, let me think what's
a good Daniel one. All right, let's talk about this one.
So chapter eight, respecting your.
Speaker 6 (27:25):
Opponent and trying to crush your opponent.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
So you know, it's like.
Speaker 5 (27:29):
A balance because I think you know, you probably think
about the kids you coach. Some of them they probably
respect their opponents too much and there's kind of maybe
have a fear of them. And then some of your
kids they probably don't respect their opponents enough. They want
to crush them. But then sometimes because of that they're
a little bit careless, you know.
Speaker 6 (27:47):
And so the idea of the whole book is you need.
Speaker 5 (27:49):
To balance both sides. You need to have them both
and use them at the correct time. So like when
you're maybe waking up in the morning and you're not
super motivated because you don't respect your opponent, you still
need to get up and trade and say, my opponents
are capable.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
I need to work hard.
Speaker 5 (28:03):
But then when you're going when you're walking out to
the map, the last thing you wanted to say, oh.
Speaker 3 (28:07):
This guy, this guy's freaking.
Speaker 4 (28:09):
Good, really good.
Speaker 5 (28:10):
God, his high crotch is so good. You don't be scared.
What do you think about this idea?
Speaker 4 (28:15):
It's awesome, Like, I think it's a great idea.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
And also, honestly, man, if I can give you flowers,
I think that you are one of the best coaches
in the country at any level. And I think that
your mentality to in your approach to competition the next level.
That's why you are having so much success, not only you,
but as your athletes go forward.
Speaker 4 (28:33):
And this is a great thing.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
Yeah, I'm gonna buy some of those books so my athletes. Bro,
I'm so tired of just lining your pocket with money
so much for those journals.
Speaker 6 (28:43):
Gave you such a deal, you stop.
Speaker 4 (28:45):
I meand so.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
Much for those journals, and now I'm gonna pay so
much for your book, like.
Speaker 4 (28:50):
I'm your greatest costan.
Speaker 3 (28:52):
My goodness.
