(00:22):
listening to Fox Sports Radio three times, super Bowl champ,
Super Bowl MVP, third most receiving yards playoff history, and
catches my friend Julian Edelman, who's got his podcast that
is crushing. Give your podcast a little love here before,
because you've had Bill O'Brien, You've had Gronk, give me
(00:43):
what's the name?
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Games with Names? Got a we got a fund one
next week, we got Scott Pioli coming on Smart. We're
getting a lot of the inside the building talk for
the Patriots that's always been so uh so been under
the wraps. So it's it's really fun to get these
guys on my podcast. Billy O'Brien did a great job
and then he just had some he's doing really great
(01:05):
with Boston College right now. Yeah, and here the the
fun that we all had in a place where everyone
thinks we didn't have fun, right, So.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
Games with names, let's start with this. You were at
the Jets Patriots game. I was you came back with
a take that you saw something you'd never seen before
in New York.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Yeah. I saw hope in the fans eyes, hope hope,
you know, and rightfully so, Aaron Rodgers looked great. But
you know, I've been in that stadium so much and
I've seen the whole fireman ed quiet this that we
retired him I think three times. To see him out
there and the fans having a great time for a
(01:48):
team that looks very competitive, that looks like we imagine
they would look a year ago. It was it was honestly,
as a New Englander, it was pretty cool, you know,
it was pretty cool to see. I mean, I'm over
here jiving with a bunch of the Jersey boys and
sitting next to me, and it was just a fun
experience to see Aaron Rodgers do the Aaron Rodgers thing
(02:11):
where he kind of always proves people wrong in some
form or fashion, does it a little differently his way,
and they look sharp.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Man.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
I know the Patriots and Tennessee aren't great teams, but
what you've seen over the last couple weeks is improvement,
and that's all we're looking for at this time of
the season. This is a race to who can improve
the best week in and week out right now during
the football season.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
The one number I looked at that I love. They
lead the NFL, and usually you need a great old
line to do this, not just a great quarterback. They
lead the NFL in third down conversion rate. That means
you're getting push, you're getting protection. I don't care how
good you are, you know you got to get help
up front. And I will say this, old lines are
(02:59):
very hard because nobody plays in the preseason to get
right it is. And the old line between Aaron now
moving a little in the last week and the old line,
it's not sol on the defense because that's all banged up.
When you saw Aaron, he moved pretty well.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
I mean he he scrambled out to the left and
I think he got clipped up on the back of
his feet on the sideline when he escaped once. And
I was sitting there like looking, how's he going to react?
And he looked good. And that's something that the whole
team sees. On Monday or Friday. The next day when
you're going over the whole cutups and that that'll give
(03:38):
everyone a bit of confidence that this guy took a hit,
that we are flag carrier, what we are was able
to go out and do things that he did. I mean,
I was really impressed. He looked good. His arms always
look sharp, but it really he was moving like inside
outside of the pocket, like kind of the old way
(03:59):
that we used to see do it. So I hope
they continue to improve. I hope they continue to use
this as a point for their team to learn that like, hey,
we improved from the first week to the second week,
the second week to the third week. That's right, Like
(04:19):
having Aaron at the helm will be able to show
them like how to handle the wins. So it'll be
it'll be good to see how they go forward.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
So there was a piece of video of Joe Burrow
after the game the loss, walking uniform on to meet
with his head coach and the defensive coordinator. It had
a TMZ look to it. It would be pretty intense
like that's not did Brady ever do that? Did they
ever have these reckoning moments?
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Yeah? You know that's that's a state of the union
right there. That looks like a State of the Union
type meeting. Uh and And honestly, I think this is
great for the team to see. I'm I think this
is great for the fifty third guy, the guy that
you know is a special teams the guy that's backing
up the linebackers. I think this is great for everyone
in there to see because there's a sense of urgency
(05:12):
that this is gonna push for that team. This kind
of stuff happens all the time coaches, you know, Bill
and Brady, they would meet after games all the time
on the plane, have their little meetings. When you're a leader,
I mean, those are the two biggest leaders. Your organization
is the head coach and the quarterbacks. So I wouldn't
(05:33):
take anything of this, but I would be I I
do like it that people saw it because it's gonna
make a sense of urgency in that building that they need.
You know, if I'm Joe Burrow, I'm going I'm saying, coach,
you know, I know it's in the past, but we
gotta we gotta learn how to start fast.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
If Tom was gonna have one of these with Belichick,
did he tell you or did you hear about it after?
Speaker 4 (05:56):
You?
Speaker 2 (05:56):
Very rarely knew about it, so he wouldn't grumbling. He
wouldn't grumble about it. You know, it's more of two
guys at the top just kind of their meeting about
something that they need to meet about.
Speaker 5 (06:08):
Let's have soup and meet in your office.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
I don't know if it was anything like that, Colin,
but but it was more of, uh, you know, let's
probably get some stuff off our chest and recalibrate and
and let's let's let's let's go.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
I love that, so I said, it'll be very interesting.
I think it's going to be before the season. I said,
Justin Fields is more relatable to that locker.
Speaker 5 (06:36):
Room than Russ's.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
Yeah, he's young, hadn't gotten paid yet outside of a TJ.
Water or a Minka Fitzpatrick. You know, most NFL locker
room's got three dudes making money. Everybody else is trying
to get it or we'll never get it. So Justin's
going to relate to him. In Chicago, people really liked him.
He's like a nice kid. Russell comes with some Russell
stuff and I said, what happens if Russ gets hurt?
Speaker 5 (07:00):
He did, and now they're.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
On a winning streak, and if they win this week
in they're four zero, that gonna be a hard locker
room to say, you know, we're moving to the next quarterback.
So the question becomes, if they keep winning, Justin's gonna
keep the gig. Is he a franchise guy or is
it a better story than reality.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
I think it's a better story than reality. It's way
too early to anoint and crown. Justin Field's a guy
that before this had what seven to eight wins in
his career. I don't care with what team a franchise
quarterback he's I think he's got one touchdown and he
hasn't thrown a pick. The defense has done a lot
(07:39):
of great things.
Speaker 5 (07:40):
Yeah, the defense is great.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
The defense is really great. If he continues to do that,
they're they're finding ways on how to win ball games.
But it's not because of him. I have to see
him and a guy to have his situation throwing the
football for me to say, you know a few times,
for me to say he's a franchise quarterback, we haven't
seen that once yet.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
You know, I've said this before. You're a franchise quarterback
when you have to throw. Everybody knows you're throwing and
you're good.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
At it exactly. You know, the one the one outlier
to that is probably Lamar. You know, he hasn't necessarily
done that to where we think, but he's so electric where.
Speaker 5 (08:21):
He wins seventy six percent of it.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
He wins seventy six percent of his game. So he's,
like Tom said, the eraser. You know, that's what he
calls something, the eraser, because he can erase bad football withes.
You know, so you know it'll be one of those
things with Justin Fields. It's a great story. But until
(08:45):
it's about week twelve, week thirteen and there's some serious
playoff issues and some playoff thing they have to lean
on you, they have to lean on you. That's when
you can go to say he's a franchise quarterback. Not yet.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
So I said this earlier. Mahomes and now Josh Allen
lose a star receiver in statistically no issues. I do
think Tyreek Hill matters to Tua. I think of Justin
Jefferson can change to Sam Darnold. But there is proof that,
and it started at the end of your career with
(09:19):
all these seven on seven passing camps. The one position
in pro football where it's getting furnished every year with
twelve great players is wide receiver and wide receivers are
increasingly making more money and demanding more. And I'm for
guys getting paid. But Stefan Diggs leaves Buffalo no impact,
Tyreek leaves Kansas City no impact. I mean the kid,
(09:42):
the rookie from Florida State for Buffalo baller typical. Go
find a guy in college. What is the I mean
what I mean, I'll say this, Randy Moss was great.
You set records, but the one with Welker they won
with you. Dion Branch, how do you view as a
receiver the importance of receiver relative to the quarterback?
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Well, I don't really understand that question, but I'll just
tell you about, uh, you know a situation that I
got into early in my career with with Tom always
wanting to throw to to Welker, you know, and when
Welker left, it kind of recalibrated Tom to throw back
to the open receiver. You know, sometimes quarterbacks get so
(10:30):
comfortable with the guy, or if they have a big
name receiver, that that there's a weight on them to
get them the ball.
Speaker 5 (10:37):
Yes, that's kind of what that's my point.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
That's what Alan had with with Diggs for sure. I
mean we saw it on the sideline, We could see
it through you know, their their interviews.
Speaker 4 (10:47):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
What this has done along with for the for the
Buffalo Bills, along with the run game, has recalibrated Josh
Allen to throw to the open receiver. You know, it
wasn't you know when West left, Tom had to throw
to everyone because he didn't have anyone he was comfortable with.
And then we were able to blossom from there and
(11:08):
turn our team into what it became. You know, you
look at all the stats for all the receivers. Kin
Kaid has a touchdown, Shakira has a few touchdowns, Coleman
has a touchdown. Everyone's getting a piece of the pile.
Along with the run game, who's allowing Buffalo to control
the game without Josh Allen running the ball. So there's
(11:30):
so many things that go into this. I think they're
in a better spot mostly because of their run game. Cooks.
I've been practic I've been preaching this for three years
since I've been on TV that if Buffalo could just
get a run game, it would just it would open
up so many other things and it would simplify the offense.
For Alan to a point where then you could really
(11:53):
use them when you needed them. And that's what we're
seeing right now. He's got nine touchdowns, zero interceptions. He
doesn't have that pressure of throwing to someone. He's having fun.
I hope they can sustain this and continue continue to
keep that run game going.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
in noon easternn am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio FS
one and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
It's really interesting what you're saying. Even if you're a
superstar quarterback, there is a weight and a pressure to
get it to your star receiver.
Speaker 5 (12:25):
You feel it.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
Instead, you said, if you don't have a star, but
a bunch of really good receivers, whoever's open gets it.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
You want to throw the open guy because the better
everyone does, the better the team's equipped to go on
to a playoff runt, right, and it's harder for a
team to prepare for you. You know, it was like
when when we used to play those Chiefs teams, I
felt like our defense always had a hold on them
because when you know, they had Tyreek at the time,
we would take Tyreek away and then like it was
(12:53):
like we would able to battle. We were battling them,
we'd win, you know. And then once they got away
from that, and then it became Kelsey and another guys.
It calibrated mahomes to throw to other guys. So I'm
a firm believer of that that sometimes that weight can
be a lot for a guy, especially if a guy's
been in a system for a long time.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
And Dak inherited Dez, and Dez was loud and verbal,
and Dez got into the end zone. Jason Garrett loved him.
But then he left and Dak had truly developed. Yeah,
and it was like then you were seeing Dak. It
was more run oriented, and eventually they went out and
got Amari Cooper.
Speaker 5 (13:32):
He needed a guy.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
But it did force Dak because Dak's a mature guy,
and sometimes Dez was weighty, he'd.
Speaker 5 (13:38):
Be screaming on the sidelines. Again, I'm not anti receiver.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
I just neither am I I'm not anti number one,
but I do.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
Yeah, I mean, but I do believe some of the
superstar receivers, you just you inherently feel I got to
get him the ball lot.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
There's definitely a little weight, There's a little something in
the stomach if you go the first half and your
guy doesn't have a ball. I mean I was doing
it to and I wasn't one of those guys.
Speaker 5 (14:03):
I'm gonna ask you. I said this. When Brady went
to Tampa.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
It actually they had a lot of elements, star receiver,
offensive coach, some dudes Shaq Barrett, they had dudes the
defensive front, they had elements the foundation, didn't have the quarterback.
So they get Tom, they draft the right tackle, elevate,
you know, they get Tom's favorite Gronk run game. I
look at the Giants and I'm like, great defensive front, star,
(14:32):
left tackle, offensive coach. Now they're not going to get
Brady like Tampa. But Tampa was viewed as just squirrely
and not close. And then they get Tom and Gronk
and you're like, actually, actually they have all the foundational pieces.
I think New York they need to upgrade their running back,
room coach, left tackle, pass rush weapon. I think they're
(14:55):
a quarterback away.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
I wouldn't write the Giants off right now this. I
mean they've they've continued to improve Daniel Jones. He hasn't
been lighting it up, but he's been playing effective football.
We heard day ball in his press conference, like he's
proud of them. They need to tighten up their red
area offense. This kind of gives me a little of
(15:18):
that same feeling when Coughlin was on the hot seat
in two thousand and seven. They go in a Super
Bowl and Coughlin was on the hot seat. Oh yeah,
they were about eleven. They're getting rid of him an
eleven and they go in and beat us in another
Super Bowl. You know, it's one of those things where
I know they lost, but there's a lot of great
things they can take from this game. I like a
(15:39):
lot of their pieces. There's a lot of great things
you can take. And Daniel Jones, you know, you could
say what you want to say about him. I've never
been like a Daniel Jones guy. But he's got some
mental toughness to be able to go in that building
and continually try to work to improve his game with
all the outside noise that he has all the time.
(16:00):
So I wouldn't just write them off right now in
the division that they're playing in right now, because there's
so many like with the Commanders, we don't know what
the commanders are. That was one really good game, and
I think that was a great game for them, and they.
Speaker 5 (16:13):
Haven't had a turnover. That stuff's not gonna last.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
That's not gonna last. The Cowboys are where the Cowboys are.
We have no clue what they are. They have three
four good guys. Defense isn't kind of playing what we
thought they would with the same guys and Zimmer at
the helm. And then you look at Philadelphia and it's
just one of those things where there's so much noise
in all these teams. If the Giants can somehow keep
(16:38):
that noise out and continue to just worry about what
they have to do. Yes they need a better quarterback,
Yes that would be great for them, but right now
they don't. I still think they have an opportunity to compete.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
Okay, finally give me a Patriot story. So you have
the summer, you work out, and as a preseason there's
one speed I feel September feels a little little bit
like twenty five percent preseason regular season. Now we're going
into October, it's getting cold, the leaves are turning orange.
When you are in New England, could use sense. It's
(17:11):
Crisp Bill's Barkin. We're demanding more. This is about the
next two weeks. I feel like we move into more
physical football. Everybody's hurt, nobody feels good.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
YEP, am I wrong? Tell me you're you're one hundred
percent right right now. The excitement of the start of
the season's worn off. It's over. There's no fans in
the in the in the crowd at practice, with training camp,
it's just fifty three guys, a bunch of orange trees
and some cold grass and a sore ankle. That's what
you're dealing with right now everywhere. So you know, this
(17:46):
is really about the team that can continue to try
to improve and have the mental toughness to ignore, you know,
those extra bumps and bruises that you have where you
could still go get your lift and maintain your playing strength.
This is about the mental toughness of the teams that
can sit there and take the things that they did
(18:07):
well and bank that and learn off of the things
that they haven't been doing very well and try to
get better with that. This is where you start to
see separation from good organizations to organizations that are just
kind of slopping it around. So this is the crucial
part of the season because now everyone has a good
sample size of what you are.
Speaker 5 (18:29):
Everybody's got film.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
Everyone's got film of who you are and what you are,
and you are what you are as Parcels always said,
you are with your record or whatever it is. So
right now, it's about that team that can ignore all
the outside noise, ignore the bumps and bruises, and continue
the grind. This is the grindiest part. Not quite yet,
(18:50):
We're not quite there. I would say that's like eight,
week seven, eight nine, because then after that you start
getting that hope for the playoff pushes and you start
seeing the seatings and stuff. Right now is that time
where you have to have your absolute most mental, your
your most mental toughness of your team to go out
there and put out your best product.
Speaker 5 (19:12):
Do you miss the grind?
Speaker 2 (19:14):
I don't you know what? I remember? I would always
look at Ernie Adams because I always early in my career,
I would house a punt in like there was a
window from like week seven to like thirteen, and I
would always get hot after that those times. I don't
know why, but I remember it. I always see Ernie
(19:34):
on the way out to practice, say Ernie, it's it's
weeks it's week five, six, seven, eight, You know what
that means. He goes, there's a lot of data. There's
a lot of data out there. What are you talking about?
He says, a lot of teams can see what you
can do now, so you could prepare off it. And
it was just always funny. I don't know where that
story was going, but this I do miss that grind
I do miss.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
You can't fool anybody. It's hard harder to fool people
as the season progresses.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
It's very hard to fool off guys.
Speaker 5 (20:04):
Finesse guys. There's a big gap.
Speaker 2 (20:06):
There's there's a gap. And this is when you're you're
gonna start to see, you know, the good teams become teams.
This is where you become a team. And this this
part of the season, there's gonna be everyone's gonna have
to deal with some sort of adversity, uh, some sooner
than later. Some may have already done it, or or
may already had something.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
And this is ultimately where your leaders have to step
up and you guys have to have your best work
weeks so you can go out and play your best
games on Sundays. That's really what it ultimately comes down to.
Practice execution becomes game.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
Reality games with names, his podcast, Julian Edelman, Great Saniezolwash
his picks.
Speaker 5 (20:47):
Tomorrow's Headlines Today is next.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and noon Easter not a Empacific.
Speaker 4 (20:55):
Who will have the most receiving yards this week? Colin, Justin, Jeffers, Godwin,
Chase or Jennings.
Speaker 6 (21:03):
Who you got.
Speaker 5 (21:05):
Jamar Chase? Bengals don't hate it. I actually like it
a lot.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
They're desperate and he's good. All right, we call it
Tomorrow's Headlines Today, your NFL picks. We both had a
winning week last week. You're ready to go?
Speaker 6 (21:22):
I'm very ready.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
All right, Tomorrow's headlines today. Rams at the Bears on Fox.
Speaker 6 (21:30):
Talking about this game all week. It's a banger.
Speaker 4 (21:32):
We're gonna be watching and texting furiously. The headline will
be Bear Naked Ladies. It's been three weeks since a
Victor ree. I'm sure you know the Bear naked ladies.
I love the Bears here, Collin. A couple things that
are interesting popping off. Rim fought really hard in that
season opener against the Lions.
Speaker 6 (21:49):
Lose it over time? How did they respond? They come
back the next week and get their doors blown off
in Arizona.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
They fought super hard.
Speaker 6 (21:55):
Last week against the Niners, big rivalry game.
Speaker 4 (21:57):
How are they gonna respond going on the road to
chicag And I've looked at the quarterbacks carve up the
Rams every single week. Kyler Murray was going off running
quarterback and last week Brock Perdy running around at a
monster game with no weapons. This shapes up is a
great game for Caleb Williams, and I will point out
the Rams lead the NFL in miss tackles. DeAndre Swift,
who loves to dance around probably too much, could be
(22:20):
in line for a good game. Although Rashawn Johnson, the backup,
sounds like he's gonna let it get a lot of carries.
I like the Bears here to win outright. Would not
surprise me if this was like twenty seven to ten Chicago.
Speaker 5 (22:31):
Tomorrow's headlines today.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
I don't think you and I are going to agree much. Eagles, Philadelphie.
I love Philadelphia at the box.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
You know, I give away some of this stuff on
my podcast, but like I like teams that are coming
off a loss face a team coming off a win.
So Philadelphia last week great win against the Saints, Tampa
Bay looked awful.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
Who do I have?
Speaker 5 (22:51):
The headline will be buckle up Buttercup Baker.
Speaker 6 (22:55):
Clicks into gear. Colin, I'm on Tampa. Here one thing
I think I think you might have overlooked in this
Eagles matchup. So Aj Brown. I know he's on the
practice field today.
Speaker 4 (23:04):
We don't know if he's gonna go with the Hammy
Lane Johnson concussion, Davonta Smith. The Eagles have a bye
next week. Are you forcing these guys back for a
game against Tampa when if you just say, hey, you
know what, no force it you guys. I mean, Lane, Johnson,
Smith and Brown are like three of their best six
players on the team. Why wouldn't you just say, yeah, guys,
power down, let's save it. Nick double yas long season.
(23:26):
I would not be surprised if they all sat. And
then it's Jalen Hurts against blitz bowls. We know he
blitzes at the fifth highest rate in the league. And
now Hurts doesn't have his weapons on the outside.
Speaker 6 (23:36):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (23:36):
I think this is a Tampa side. And keep an
eye on Mike Evans. So last week Patrick Surtan locked
him up. Evans had like one or two catches, totally irrelevant.
I think Evans has.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
A big game.
Speaker 4 (23:46):
The Eagles secondary, little dicey, young kid, the rookie number
twenty seven, I'm spacing on his name. And then Slay
got injured against the Saint so we don't know. I
think Tampa's in line for a nice win here twenty seventeen.
Speaker 1 (23:58):
Ish.
Speaker 5 (23:59):
We don't disagree that much.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
Tomorrow's headlines today Broncos at the Jets.
Speaker 5 (24:06):
Now, that is a bad spot for Denver. But I
don't like seven and a half.
Speaker 4 (24:10):
You know, I like to avoid the Jets because as
a fan of the Jets, I don't mind himitting it.
When they lose and I bet on them, it's like
a double whammy. I don't need that on my Sunday
badline will be how I Jet your mother, spin off
mixes Broncos sitcom. I don't know if you saw this
injury to Alex Singleton, the linebacker of the Broncos. Yeah,
(24:31):
and it's not just any linebacker. He led them in
tackles each of the last two years. He wears the
green dot on his helmet, communicating with the sideline. He
busted his ACL in the last game played the entire.
Speaker 6 (24:40):
Game and led them in tackles. Now he's out for
the season. That is a massive loss.
Speaker 4 (24:44):
I would take a look at Breese Hall props out
of the backfield.
Speaker 6 (24:47):
They're going to struggle to defend him.
Speaker 4 (24:49):
I looked into the backup who's playing for him, some
kid named Welch. He's played like twenty five snaps in
the last three years.
Speaker 6 (24:55):
Undrafted.
Speaker 4 (24:56):
There is a big opportunity for Jets running backs and
even the tight ends to eat this one. I don't
like Bonnicks against his Jets defense. Extra rest for the Jets.
And finally, since Nick Wright loves.
Speaker 6 (25:06):
Him, Matt Hackett revenge game. I like the Jets here
to handle the Broncos.
Speaker 5 (25:10):
Well, they're gonna win.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
Yeah, I just the hook, all right, Tomorrow's headlines today,
this is the game that did not make my Blazing five.
I would have taken Cincinnati. This was my This was
the last one out. Bengals at the Panthers on fog.
Speaker 6 (25:26):
I don't know how you didn't have this on your card.
Speaker 4 (25:28):
I mean I just mentioned teams that lost against teams
at one The Panthers looked like world beaters, didn't they
Against the Raiders.
Speaker 6 (25:35):
The headline will be like.
Speaker 4 (25:37):
Taking andy from a baby who they devours.
Speaker 6 (25:41):
Dalton Colin.
Speaker 4 (25:42):
I love the Bengals here. I got just a question
about this defense. So two weeks ago they hold Patrick
Mahomes to a buck fifty throwing. They were within one
flag on fourth and sixteen away from beating the Chiefs.
Then they come out at home sleepwalking, and Jayden Daniels
has the greatest performance of rookies ever had twenty one
or twenty three, which is the real Bengals defense, and
I like to think it's the latter, the one that
(26:03):
shut down Mahomes. They're gonna be amp for this game.
I like your take on Jamar Chase having a big one.
Panthers kind of banged up, and let's just be real
like Gardner Minshew moved the ball last week with ease
against the Panthers. They just couldn't finish and their defense
was awful the Raiders. So I like the Bengals year.
I would not be surprised by a forty burger, assuming
the weather holds up.
Speaker 5 (26:22):
Keep an eye on it.
Speaker 4 (26:23):
My brother, who is slated to go to North Carolina
this weekend, had to cancel his trip this hurricane.
Speaker 6 (26:28):
Helen Right Ashville.
Speaker 4 (26:29):
All these sounds are like flooded, so just keep an
eye on that. But I think the Bengals can hang
forty on Carolina.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
Well this is I said that before. This may be
my favorite of the weekend. I love Arizona this weekend.
I love Arizona. Tomorrow's headlines today the nearly flawless Commanders
at the Cardinals in the Desert on Fox.
Speaker 4 (26:48):
Yet again, team that lost Arizona coming up against a
team that won Washington. The headline will be Murray up
and wait, Commanders kept off schedule. I mean, listen, all
I've been hearing this week is Jade Daniels is the
greatest quarterback ever. Bears are taking him first overall, let's
just pump the brakes. He had a great performance on
Monday night. Now they got to go west. And I
(27:11):
think Arizona is a little undervalued, you know, like a
lot of people like them. Last week they took money
against the Lions and they showed well, just couldn't deliver.
I am concerned that Trey McBride, the great tight end
who leads him in catches, he's bearing the second and target.
Sounds like he's a no go I think I just
saw he's not gonna play. They do have Harrison, and
I'm just gonn to remind people this Washington defense and
I wrote this up for for Fox Sports dot com.
Speaker 6 (27:33):
They forced two punts all season.
Speaker 5 (27:35):
It's it.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
So I think if Washington, I think they'll lose this week.
But there are a couple of teams I think need
to make a move at the deadline, if Washington, because
if Dallas stumbles in their schedule at the trade deadline
in about three or four weeks, I can see Washington
going say, we got to get something on the back end.
Speaker 4 (27:51):
Of our defense, and a lot they I mean they
really the defense is ter Burrow had like four hundred
yards he was going off.
Speaker 6 (27:56):
The defense couldn't get stopped. But I don't I just
I don't love the hook on this one. Three and
a half. I would love a three.
Speaker 4 (28:04):
But yeah, I think Arizona bounces back. Listen, Arizona is
gonna be in the Walkcart contention.
Speaker 5 (28:08):
See, I am shocked that you didn't take the Colts.
Speaker 6 (28:13):
They were my sixth. I have them just on the fringes.
A lot of injuries on the Colt side, and the
Steelers are just so lucky man. This team all seems
to win.
Speaker 5 (28:22):
Everyone's Okay, we.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
Do this every week at the very end of the show,
give me your upset. We're gonna have one major upset
every week.
Speaker 5 (28:31):
This is easy.
Speaker 4 (28:32):
Jacksonville getting seven or six depending on where you look.
Jacksonville against Houston. No Joe Mixon again, I mean they
don't have a run game with all mixing. I mean,
no disrespect to can makers. So Jacksonville beats the Texans
in Houston.
Speaker 6 (28:47):
Yeah, I mean if you look at the history of
oh and three teams and this is like do.
Speaker 1 (28:51):
Or die, like now now it should be noted. Joe Mixon,
I'm told did practice.
Speaker 6 (28:56):
Todayy, but he's not. He's not one hundred percent or
even close to it.
Speaker 4 (28:59):
And the other thing is last week the teams that
were zero to two, I think, what five and one
on Sunday. So when you're desperate team backed into a corner,
they do bounce back.
Speaker 6 (29:09):
Of course that didn't.
Speaker 1 (29:10):
How about this one football? How about this one? I
don't know how much of an upset it would be.
I'll never say what I'm about to say ever again
on the show. I like Will Levis, Yeah, I.
Speaker 6 (29:23):
Don't think that they're one point dogs.
Speaker 4 (29:26):
I get by the way, it sounds like Snoop Huntley
is in line to start for Miami. Tyler Huntley who
joined the team like two weeks ago. Maybe he was
on the Baltimore practice squad to start the season. McDaniel's desperate,
and I don't think he's in trouble. He's a great
offensive mine. But Colin, they just they look really bad
with anybody at quarterbacks.
Speaker 5 (29:43):
How about this one. DeVante Adams and Max Crosby are
both out for the Raiders. Cleveland goes to the Raiders
and gets a huge break. Wait, Adams is out, Max Crosby,
Davante Adams.
Speaker 6 (30:01):
Has Crosby's been banged up.
Speaker 5 (30:02):
But okay.
Speaker 4 (30:03):
Adams is interesting because wasn't he the guy that we
thought maybe was making business decisions last week? There is
some video of him being like not half asking it,
but like putting his hands on come on, and now
he's not.
Speaker 6 (30:16):
That's worth watching. DeVante Adams on the trade block.
Speaker 1 (30:19):
Uh, let me tell you something we talked about that
before the season. That is not crazy. That is not crazy,
loading up getting picks.
Speaker 5 (30:30):
See you Monday.
