Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Have a lot of moving parts here as we speak
Jordan Schultz, Fox Sports NFL Insider. There's a lot of
things going on. He's on speak today, So let's address
First of all, there's a lot of teams out there.
I kind of feel like Jet Saints, Davante Adams, Derek Aaron.
What are the best landing spots? This is very fluid
because Jordan, as you know, leverage matters. The Raiders don't

(00:46):
have to win now, Dennis Allen does and Robert Solid does,
so they could be pounding the table here. What's the
latest on Devonte?

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Well, let's get to those teams. But also when do
we start with maybe the teams that have been rumored,
but I would say they are more sleepers. Let's start
with Buffalo. I think if you look at the Bills
in theory, that's a great fit, right, because they don't
really have a number one receiver. They have Dalton Kink,
they have Khalil Shakir, they have some good young receivers
key On Coleman. But I think Buffalo, like a Kansas City,

(01:15):
would have to wait. The longer the wait, the less
money you have to pay him. Now, you know, Kansas City,
for example, obviously will be in the wide receiver market,
I think. But it would surprise me not only for
the inter division trade, but it would surprise me if
the Chiefs were able to take on that cap. But
if you're able to wait, then the Raiders, to your
point calling about leverage, lose some leverage, right, because then

(01:38):
all of a sudden are out. Teams are yes, and
now all of a sudden, okay, maybe I have to
trade this guy. He's not happy. And let's just say, hypothetically,
if you're a really good team, maybe you're a Baltimore,
a team that I think could absolutely be in on
Devonte Adams. Your first round pick, if you're gonna get feisty,
is probably gonna be in the high twenties early thirties.
That first rounder is not necessarily the most valid I

(02:00):
think Baltimore. To that point. We saw in the playoffs
against the Chiefs Colin they got away from their game script.
They stopped running the football. Then they couldn't throw the football.
They need to meet another wide receiver opposite Zay Flowers.
They have some really good talent there. You mentioned Derrick Henry. Obviously,
we like Isaiah Likely. Mark Andrews is an All Pro,
but he's getting older. Now you get Devontae Adams. Now

(02:21):
you have a guy who can legitimately take over a
takeover a game. The Detroit Lions they have twenty eight
million dollars in cab space. Wow, do they need DeVonta Adams?

Speaker 1 (02:31):
No?

Speaker 3 (02:32):
Could they use him? Yes? You know Sam laporta great
young tight end. Jamison Williams can absolutely fly. We just
saw monro Saint Brown get All Pro.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
But those guys get Williams gets banged up.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Williams and he's more of a perimeter guy. Amada's a
slot guy. Now, all of a sudden, you add Devontae
Adams to Jared Goff, who's one of the most accurate
quarterbacks in the league. That becomes that much more of
a dynamic offense. I think there are a lot of
question marks about the Jets and Saints because he wants
to be with the quarterback he's played with, Derek Carr,

(03:04):
Aaron Rodgers. The Saints do not have the financial flexibility
to get this done. It would be almost to be
impossible for the Saints to get out and make a deal.
But just because of the money, we know this team
constantly pushes deals down the road. That to me tells
me right now they would love to get him, but
because of the way their contract and their cap is
set up, it's gonna be very unrealistic. The Jets, to me,

(03:28):
make the most sense for a lot of reasons. Yeah,
this is an offense that is struggling right now. You
mean Garrett Wilson, one of the best young receivers in
the league nine point three yards per catch. This offense
calling four yards per play, it's one of the worst
clips in the league.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
With Aaron Rodgers, Garrett Wilson in the hall.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
It doesn't make any sense why because they they their
their creativity right now is not there. Garrett Wilson, I
was just talking about Jay Mack. He's been criticizing publicly publicly.
He didn't say Nathaniel Hackett, but he said, we need
to be more creative. What happens if you get Devonte Adams, Well,
now you can be creative. I look at the Jets
and I say, this front office has so much pressure

(04:05):
on it. Not only would Joe Douglas, but the head
coach and Robert Sala. If we can go out and
get a Devonte Adams, that frees up a lot for us.
But also, we don't really necessarily care about a future
second round pick. What do we care if we don't
win this year. We're gone anyway, So let's go ahead
and empty the tank and get a Davonte Adams. But
to me, this is a fluid situation and I don't

(04:27):
necessarily know if anything's imminent, But I also think it's
important to know. And I'll leave you with this. It's
important to note that Deavonte Adams does not have a
no trade clause. He cannot engineer this the way that
maybe a Brandon I you could. With San Francisco. We
heard Washington, we heard Pittsburgh. Those are teams, by the way,
that could be interested as well. I think the Commanders
and Steelers make a lot of sense, But DeVonta Adams

(04:49):
cannot orchestrate this the way that he wants. I think
the Raiders will try to get him to a place
he would like to go, but they don't have to
say to be victim to his demands. And I'll leave
you with Washington and Pittsburgh. The Steelers were in on
Brandon Ayuk. The Commanders were in on Brandon Ayuk. Those
are two teams, specifically Washington that I look at and say,

(05:10):
this is a long term play. The Jets of the
short term play one or two years with Aaron Rodgers,
he's four years old. Jaden Daniels is the truth. He
is the future. We've seen how talented he is. They
have a really good wide receiver and Terry McLaurin, as
does Pittsburgh, which are Pickens. Add DeVante Adams and suddenly
those offenses, especially Washington, become that much more dynamic.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Okay, so June preseason and the Cadence comments recently three
different times sala is learning how to be head coach.
It's harder with an impulsive owner. Aaron Rodgers. Zach Wilson,
New York and not that he's stumbled, but he said
things started fires. New York media responder questions him and

(05:55):
then he's got to put him out, so he's kind
of learning on the job. But my take is Aaron's
teams almost annoyed having to answer that you're not playing
in the preseason unexcused absence Caden's It's three different instances
where Aaron's come up kind of in that eye roll
annoyed state to Aaron and sala what is the relationship

(06:16):
do they have one?

Speaker 3 (06:16):
Aaron's safety valve, his comfort zone. His relationship is Nathaniel Hackett.
That's his guy, good for better or worse. I think
his relationship with sala Is is fine, it's tenable, but
his comfort zone is Nathaniel Hackett. Now, Aaron has the power,
as he should, but when I hear some of the
things that sala Is saying, I questioned whether or not

(06:38):
he understands what he has. Aaron Rodgers is the greatest
free play quarterback in the history of football.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Game.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
That's his game. Now, sometimes you're gonna have false starts.
They had three false starts last week against Denver. They
only had one the first three weeks, so there are
gonna be mistakes. They're trying to incorporate ol the Fushanu,
a young offensive lineman This is a an offensive line
in general that is still messing. But this is Aaron Rodgers.
Part of what makes them great. In fact, a lot
of what makes them great is the freedom at the

(07:07):
line of scrimmage to adjust eighteen free play touchdowns is
again the most Ever, that's what happens with Lazard, It's
what should happen with Garrett Wilson, and make no mistake,
it's what would happen with DeVante Adams.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
Okay, you came out and reported earlier this week that Jacksonville,
which there's there's a lot of speculation from Belichick, yeah,
to making a move. Now, you reported that Doug Peterson,
the head coach, had lost the locker room. Doug responded
to that here it is, No, I have not lost
the locker room.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
You know, obviously, you're gonna you're gonna go through some setbacks,
you know, in this league, and and there's gonna be
some some times where you know you're gonna you're gonna
you're gonna come out some hard times. I mean, that's
just that's just part of this game. I've been there before,
done that before, and we've always you know, battled back.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Well, he was fired in Philadelphia, and these are beyond
hard times. They can't win games. So is you tell me?
Is he? And could there be a potential? It's a
rich owner, right, this is a very wealthy owner in
season coaching change.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
It's also a patient owner. Shod Cohn. The only time
he's really pulled the plug was Irvin Meyer and that
was a completely untenable situation. So I don't know if
they would do it in season. But to your point,
if they lose this week, that'll be ten straight losses
with Trevor Trevor Lawrence at the Helm. Ten straight. This
is a team that has paid everybody. They paid Armstead,

(08:27):
they paid Campbell, they paid heinz Allen, and they obviously
paid Lawrence. They have a pretty good roster. They probably
should be two and two instead of oh and four.
They're going to London. That's their home away from home.
Seat con loves it there. They played two games in London.
Imagine if they're zero to five going across the pond.
At some point you have to wonder how much longer
Doug Peterson's going to be able to hold on Now.

(08:48):
I don't know if he I wouldn't say he's on
the hot seat right now. But to my point earlier
about the locker room. You know, I've talked to players
over the last couple of weeks, not since, not just
the Texans game, that have told me this locker room
doesn't really believe in the head coach anymore.

Speaker 5 (09:01):
Now.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
I don't have any ill will towards Doug Peterson. It's
not like he forgot how to coach. He's won a
Super Bowl. But what I can tell you is that
when you come out and start blaming players the way
that he did after the loss to the Texans where
they really blew that game, that's not the way to
coach in today's day and age. You just don't do it.
It's not how guys respond. And I think to a degree,

(09:23):
you take a thirty thousand foot view and you wonder
how much more losing they can take.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
Well, Dave Wansteatt has said this for years. You can
lose games, you can't lose the locker room. And when
Wanstatt was in Miami in Chicago, and I mean they
were winning games, go look at his record. He said,
you lose three in a row in this league if
you don't have a you know, if you don't have
a big Resumeah, right, Like you lose players because everybody's

(09:53):
hurt by week four, nobody's in a great mood. Winning
solves a lot like this is a very I mean,
go to an m season. Maybe a guy's banged up.
Everybody in your locker room was banged up week four.
Winning solves a lot of issues. They're not winning with
Trevor without him.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
Yeah, you've asked me before, what's the biggest difference between
covering the NBA and the NFL? Because I used to
do hoops. One of the biggest differences. The NBA locker
room is twelve guys. NFL locker room is fifty three dudes.
So you got a lot of different egos in that
person personalities. You need the respect of the locker room.
That doesn't mean everyone has to like you, doesn't mean
everyone has to like each other. But when you start

(10:32):
turning on your players as the head coach publicly, I
recognize that as the beginning of the end. And I
just don't know how much longer you know he's gonna
be able to withstand it, and eventually he is going
to be the scapegoat if they don't turn it around.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
Can the Phillies, Phillies, Phillies' they're gonna be right. How
good is that there?

Speaker 2 (10:49):
I like that.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
I do like that series, Mets Phillies.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
Right around your love. It is the Eagles season. I
thought the first quarter, the first cast Tampa against Tampa
was the awful. I don't think I remember a team
that talented looking that unprepared. Is the season salvageable?

Speaker 3 (11:10):
So I think it is, But there's a lot that
has to be changed. First of all, when you don't
have Davonte Smith, you don't have AJ Brown, You're gonna
have issues. Clear Tampa's really tough at home. They have
a really aggressive defensive word. I mean they were dialing
uplitzes on third and twenty. That's him, That's what he does,
and they couldn't protect. I do think Jalen Hurts needs
to be more decisive, But I think what really makes

(11:32):
the Eagles great is the connection that he has with
AJ Brown and Devonte Smith, specifically Brown, his numbers are
catastrophically different. When he has a J. Brown, The lineup.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
Guys Christian McCaffrey in a different position, hundred literally a
different team. With AJ Brown, they are.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
One of the most efficient offenses.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
He practiced, he's gonna play, He's hopefully gonna play this week.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
Devontae Smith should play. That's gonna change a lot. They're
two and two, you know the New Orleans game they
got bailed out. They two or two's about right where
they're at right now. But they're eighteenth. That's the Creek
key staff for me. They're eighteenth in pre snap motion. Now.
That's Kellen Moore, who obviously was with the Chargers, was
with the Cowboys and I was talking to a GM
about how do you go up against the Eagles, like,

(12:15):
how do you defend them? And he said, right now,
they're a little bit predictable. And I said, so, is
that because of AJ Brown and DeVante Smith being out?
He said, to a degree, But really it's the pre
snap motion. Kellen Moore is a really good offensive coordinator.
I think once he gets his all his his arsenal
in full effect. The way that Saquon's running the ball
right now, he's the offensive player of the year, certainly

(12:36):
the best running back in football. They're going to be
able to salvage it. The bigger question to me, though,
is Nick Sirianni, Because if you're looking at the Eagles
and you're saying, what's the big issue with them? Nick
Sirianni's probably the face of it. Yes, Okay, so when
things are going really well, you love Nick Sirianni. I
want to get behind that guy. He's fun to play for.
When they're not going well, you're saying, well, is this

(12:57):
guy playing Madden? He's not taking field goals. He consistently
goes forward on fourth and four, fourth and five. The
math consistently tells you take the three. He has a
good kicker and Jake Elliott. I want to see Nick
Siriani take a step back and not pressures put so
much pressure on Jalen Hurts in that young offensive line
to figure it out. Because they do have a new center,

(13:17):
the second year guy Jurgens is gonna be a good player,
but without Jason Kelcey, it's not the same fourth and one,
fourth and two offense.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
Okay, finally a Rashi Rice so they're going to have
another test. Clearly listen their defense Mahomes, Andy Reid. They're
gonna win a lot of games with or without Rashi
Rice Worthy as obviously a new over the top toy.
They haven't had that in multiple years. They got a
second tight end Juju Smith Schuster, so they're gonna win games.

(13:44):
The Rashi Rice situation to us J Mack I Ryan,
we talked about this. What are they do? They know? So?

Speaker 3 (13:52):
So I think what's happened is that when you have
the type of swelling.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
That he has, it's usually a bad sign.

Speaker 3 (13:59):
It's a bad sign. But also you're not able to
get the proper imaging. You need to take time. Okay, So,
and I'm not a doctor, but and talk to a
couple of doctors, talk to some folks that have told
me they need to let the swelling die down, and
when that happens, then you can get the proper imaging. Now,
usually when doctors tell you something's bad, it's probably bad.
So I don't think the chiefs are saying are I

(14:21):
don't think it's realistically realistic to say the chiefs are
gonna have Rashid Rice back anytime soon. But they are
doing their due diligence to make sure next week. I
think it's gonna be on Monday, to make sure that
the knee is a torn acl If it's not, obviously
that's an unbelievable surprise. At some point they will get
the check go back. We still don't know about Hollywood.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
Right, but Checko's a little underrated.

Speaker 3 (14:43):
He is, and he can catch the football.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
Yes, I think he's We've talked about this, we talked
brought perty seventh round, but Checko is one of the
best late round players drafted in five years.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
It sixth round, seventh round out of Rutgers.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
So he's been a tremendous asset for a team that's
trying to develop a receiving corps. He has been. He
is just a shockingly good late round player.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
And let's give credit to the I don't know how
much time we have, but I want to let's give
credit to the Chiefs front office. I don't know if
I've seen a team that has won back to back
Super Bowls and his four and zero get more disrespect. Oh,
the Chiefs can't do it now They're dead. Travis Kelcey's
too old. Red Beech I think is the best GM
in the NFL. They drafted Patrick Mahomes, the best quarterback ever,

(15:26):
arguably the best tight end ever, first or second best
coach of all time, one of the great interior defensive
linemen of our generation.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
I mean take out Aaron Donald, Chris Jo next. I
think he's next.

Speaker 3 (15:38):
He is next. He's that dominant and he's actually been
better this year. I look at the Chiefs. I don't
know what's gonna happen with Rashid Rice, but I look
at the Chiefs and I say they are going to
be in it when it matters. I picked them before
the year, as you know, to win three in a row.
I still think they're gonna win three in a row
because I believe it.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
We'll play at some point this year, I would take
them to win a so without him, I just don't
know if Worthy is a volume receiver, right, who's getting
I mean Rashi was becoming ten.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
Target night number one guy.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
Yeah, and it's now they can do it again. They've
done it without it. How many years in a row
can you cobble together a receiving gory be the best
team in the league. So I think Buffalo's better this year.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
Buffalo's really good despite what happened. Again, my question with
Balts Buffalo is how they gonna come when they're down
as he saw against Baltimore, can Josh Allen. That's why
the Davante thing makes sense for them because Josh Allen
won't necessarily feel like he has to do it all
as he did against Baltimore didn't work. But to your point,
against Kansas City, goodbye Kansas City. They can patswork. Pats work,
are running back with p Ryan and Carson Steel. They

(16:42):
can figure out Kareem Hunt. But they've lost Hollywood Brown,
They've lost for Shi Rice, They've lost Pacheco. I think
in order of most realistic or quickest to come back
goes Pa Checko, hopefully Hollywood Brown. And then we still
don't really know about Receia Rice. We'll find out early
next week.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
You said, yeah Monday, Jordan, great stuff. Thanks Jarlen Schultz
doing great stuff. He is on Speak later today.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays

FS one and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
J Mack with the News.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
Turn on the news. This is the Herd Line News.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
Uh, Colin.

Speaker 5 (17:17):
We've talked a lot about defensive head coaches pairing with
young quarterbacks. It doesn't usually work out well. Yesterday on
the Facility, Chase Daniels said, in his experience in the league,
pairings like that can go as bad as soon as
teams get a little adversity.

Speaker 6 (17:35):
A defensive head coach that holds this team to ten
points and BONEIX to sixty yards, they expect when you
know the first person that's getting blamed.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
I've been part of it. I've seen it with star quarterback,
the first person who getting blamed, Aaron Rodgers. I've seen
it in action multiple times.

Speaker 6 (17:50):
Most quarterbacks hate playing for defensive head coaches when times
are tough, because the first person to point the finger
back at the quarterback is the defensive head coach.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
He's not wrong. It's a different sensibility. Offensive guys hang
out with offensive guy. A lot of these offensive coordinators
and offensive coaches, like a Kingsbury were college quarterbacks. Sean McVay.
A lot of these guys played the position are friends.
There's a different sensibility, so they kind of protect and
understand the ego. The sensibility. Quarterbacks can be fragile faces

(18:23):
of the franchise, faces of the league, the most talked about.
I think there's something there.

Speaker 7 (18:27):
There is I just wonder, you know what about Washington.
Dan Quinn is a head Dan.

Speaker 1 (18:34):
Dan's known as he is not an old school rigid
d defensive head coach. He's not McDermott can be wound
really tight. Dan is really willing to let the offense.
From what I've been told, Dan is very collaborative, not
a barker, very much a unifier in the locker room.
People love playing for Dan.

Speaker 7 (18:54):
He's got the hat backwards. It's just a cool young
I don't.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
Mind my coaches occasionally or cleaning the garage.

Speaker 7 (19:01):
Nobody cleans their garage, Colin, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
If I do. You don't clean your garage spring cleaning.
I do it every year. You gotta hire somebody I watch.

Speaker 7 (19:13):
Stimulate the economy. No, come on, next up? Oh, this
is interesting.

Speaker 5 (19:18):
So McVeigh and Stafford obviously one of the best duo
coach and quarterbacks in the league. But the Rams, Colin,
they're struggling to score in the red zone. They've got
major red zone issues. And Matt Stafford says red zone
issues are wide. Scoring is down for the Rams.

Speaker 8 (19:33):
Individually as players and as it collectively as a group.
Like I said, we just need to execute the plays
that are called a little bit better. And you go
back and look at the tape and there's opportunities to
either get ourselves in more favorable positions on third down
than the red zone, or put the ball in the
end zone with some things that we can do, you know,
just as a player's execution, fundamental technique, all those kind

(19:54):
of things. That's what it boils down to.

Speaker 1 (19:55):
Yeah, boils down to no Cooper Cup. Cooper Cup in
the red zone with Stafford is money. Pook is also good.
This is that you can't blame the coach. The quarterback.
Cooper Cup in the red zone with Stafford has been fantastic.
He's been gone. Pooka Nikoua also a big body that
can break tackles. He's been gone. So I don't blame anybody.

(20:15):
This is they were missing their tackles at missing their center.
Now they're missing. I think it's all injuries. Two star
players who are playmakers in the red zone.

Speaker 5 (20:25):
So I just went to Pro Football Reference and they
have red zone passing.

Speaker 7 (20:31):
This isn't pretty for Stafford Gill he good. No, like
Miles below.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
Will Levis, well, that's because he didn't have any players.

Speaker 7 (20:36):
Well, Will Levis stinks.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
Will Levis has players.

Speaker 5 (20:38):
By the way, Will Levis in the red zone five
of nine passing with three touchdowns, zero interceptions, Stafford in
the red zone eight of twenty two.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
So they're getting in the red zone. Stafford's getting them there.

Speaker 7 (20:50):
He's just throwing a million passes in the red zone.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
They don't have they literally their number one receiver right now.
Can you name it too too at Well Robinson, they
don't have to don't even have Tyler Higby this year.

Speaker 5 (21:02):
Their top tight end Stafford inside the ten is three
of eleven with a touchdown and a pick.

Speaker 1 (21:07):
It's a personnel issue, it's not a Stafford issue.

Speaker 7 (21:10):
I would largely agree.

Speaker 5 (21:12):
But when I see Andy Dalton has three touchdown passes inside.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
The ten, if guys are healthy.

Speaker 7 (21:16):
Who Deontay Johnson?

Speaker 1 (21:18):
You guys are giving me these stats. The stat you
should look at is how many times has Stafford been
in the red zone. He's getting you there twice as
much as will leffis. They just don't have the playmaker.

Speaker 5 (21:28):
So that's the equivalent of, like me back in my prime,
I would like to be able to go to bars
and talk to girls, but I couldn't get the cell
phone number right.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
Thus comes back to you. His top target is five
to nine in the red zone. Who did Brady throw
to grown. By the way, Tampa quarterbacks, Brady, who'd he
throw to Mike Evan And you're cheering piggy quarterbacks? No,
I mean in the red zone you want big players.
DK Metcalf, Geno Smith in a clutter spit, Gino Smith

(21:55):
is looking for Dk Metcalf. Gino is up there, Yeah,
because he's got dk Metcalf, the Rams number one receiver.
I'm six to two, he's five nine. Okay, Daniel Jones,
what elite neighbors is a number one? Come on, Daniel
Jones is not a good quarterback. Eight of seventeen in
the red zone, four touchdowns. Now he does have it
exactly my point. He's got a one and he's not
getting there to the red zone nearly as much as Stafford.

Speaker 5 (22:18):
Justin Herbert, does he have a one, No, six of
twelve three touchdowns in the red zone.

Speaker 7 (22:23):
I'm just saying, like, I get it. Stafford doesn't have
his joke six of twelve.

Speaker 1 (22:27):
So Stafford's got into the red zone twice as many
times as Herbert. That's my point. Stafford's getting all over
the field. But the congested red zone, you need a
Mike Evans, a elite neighbors a dk Metcalf. Titans have receivers.
That's not the issue. The issues the quarterback.

Speaker 7 (22:46):
Very defensive about the Rams. I like it.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
I like it.

Speaker 7 (22:48):
Our final story Falcons.

Speaker 5 (22:50):
They spent a lot of money on the offensive side
of the football, where there's a draft, free agency, and
especially Kirk Cousins. The money hasn't translated to tens though.
Atlanta ranks nineteenth in total yards per game and they
only have scored five touchdowns in four games. First year
offensive coordinator Zach Robinson, who's a McVeigh guy I believe,
says it's got to get fixed.

Speaker 9 (23:11):
It's difficult because the biggest thing yeah do in this
league is four points, and we're not scoring enough points
that our defense is doing a great job, we are
just not scoring enough points.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
And so that's going to be.

Speaker 3 (23:22):
Continued emphasis on our side.

Speaker 9 (23:25):
What we can do to make sure we're max maximizing drives,
punching the ball in the end zone when we get
down in there.

Speaker 3 (23:30):
We got to score touchdowns.

Speaker 1 (23:33):
You know what hurts here, Kyle Pitt has disappeared.

Speaker 7 (23:38):
I mean I don't know that he ever appeared.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
That's a good point.

Speaker 7 (23:41):
Like in college he was amazing.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
He has been just a letdown.

Speaker 7 (23:45):
I don't want to go bust because he really hasn't
had to.

Speaker 1 (23:47):
Look well, it's pretty busty. It's not great. It's not great.
We had a fifty yard catch couple of weeks ago one,
and this is a good old line with an accurate quarterback.
So it's not like if you had a bad old
line and a bad quarterback. It's one of the best
old lines, one of the more accurate quarterbacks. He can't
get open.

Speaker 5 (24:07):
So this is the second year. I don't think the
Falcons know what they want to be. Remember last year,
Desmond River would drop back and throw like forty passes.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
What are you doing?

Speaker 7 (24:14):
Run the football?

Speaker 5 (24:15):
So now this year you get Kirk Cousins and it's like, okay,
we're gonna go heavy Bijon. Meanwhile, quietly, Algier, the other
running back, has had a better season than Bijon, who's
kind of bree Hall like Dancy.

Speaker 7 (24:26):
You know, Algier just hits the hole.

Speaker 5 (24:27):
He wants to run people over, similar to Braylen Allen
the Jets. So I think tonight I'm looking at some
props for Algier. I think this is a big run
game for Atlanta. It's Tampa defense, Vita Veo will play,
but the other defensive tackles out.

Speaker 7 (24:40):
I think Atlanta wins on the ground. They in the
red zone.

Speaker 5 (24:42):
They've got to just run the damn ball because, like
you said, Pitts is not getting open coming.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
No.

Speaker 7 (24:47):
He and Drake London's not like a.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
If they know what to do with Pitts, they move
him out wide. He's not an extensive goal.

Speaker 7 (24:54):
He's a matchup nightmare for guys. Go up and get it.

Speaker 1 (24:58):
That's what's amazing. How many good tight ends in this
league are lower mid round picks. Look look at Kittle.
I mean one Gronk like a third round or something
like that.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
He was.

Speaker 7 (25:09):
The tight ends this year have just been bad around
the NFL. They just they're just.

Speaker 1 (25:12):
Going to draft in Iowa tight end. Even Laporta's numbers
are a bit down this year. Well he's been banged up, yes,
plot injuries. Jmckle the news.

Speaker 2 (25:22):
Well that's the news. And thanks for stopping by the
Herd lot. Be sure to catch live editions of The
Herd weekdays and Noone Easter not a em Pacific.

Speaker 5 (25:30):
Make sure you play this week's Fox Super Six sponsored
by Draftkicks. There's a special contest this week for you
in the Jets Vikings game in London, which you can
see on NFL Network Sunday at nine thirty am. But
are the Fox Sports appened entry for a free chance
to wave back?

Speaker 1 (25:49):
All Right, We're gonna play a game. It's called Mayfield
or the Field. Baker Mayfield or the Field. He's been
playing well. People think I don't like him. My takeaway
is I've always saudis top twenty quarterback on the planet.
Collegen pro Mayfield or the Field. You give me the quarterback,
I'll tell you who I would take, considering everything.

Speaker 5 (26:08):
All Right, we'll have a mid off with Baker Mayfield
or Geno Smith.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
Let me come back to that one.

Speaker 7 (26:19):
Okay, take your time on that one. If you don't
like do you know Smith?

Speaker 1 (26:22):
This is an open er.

Speaker 7 (26:23):
How about Baker Mayfield or Brock Purty.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
Purty is five years younger and more athletic. He moves
better at this point, I take Purty.

Speaker 5 (26:32):
Okay, it's a little tougher one. Baker Mayfield or Sam Donald.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
I think it's close, but Sam is gonna end up
being three more good weeks the MVP. Sam is a
bigger quarterback. Again, more athletic. I would take by an inch,
Sam Donald, Baker Mayfield or Jared Goff. Come on, one's
been to a Super Bowl. Jared, by the way, if
you go to the start of last year, leads the
NFL in passing yards. So Goff, as we said yesterday,

(26:59):
is the most underrated player in the league by a
long shot.

Speaker 7 (27:03):
No votes for Baker yet. Baker or Dak Prescott.

Speaker 1 (27:06):
Dak is runner up MVP Dak. It should be noted
led the NFL in touchdown passes last year, and it
was not a great receiving room. So let's give Dak
some credit. I think I wouldn't want to pay him
what they pay him, but Dak's production and availability is
very strong.

Speaker 7 (27:23):
I'm a little nervous with this one. Just take your time.
Baker Mayfield or Jalen.

Speaker 1 (27:27):
Hurts right now today Baker Mayfield, I have real concerns
about Jalen Hurts health, his pocket quarterback ability. I think
I'm gonna be wrong in three or four weeks. But
what I am seeing right now is Jalen Hurts not decisive.
Jordan Schultz said this why as me as decisive. It's close,

(27:49):
But this morning, now I'd take Bacon's.

Speaker 7 (27:52):
That's a bit of a shocker. We're gonna go Baker
or Tua Doung. I know who's currently hurt in Miami.

Speaker 1 (27:57):
Baker's got a better arm. Baker's more of available, there's
a certain resilience to him. Again, better arm. They both
move about the same.

Speaker 7 (28:05):
Baker Baker or Trevor Lawrence.

Speaker 1 (28:08):
Trevor Lawrence is let me look it up here, four
or five years younger. I think he's got better tools, bigger,
moves better. I think this is more of a coaching
coordinator thing. I would take Trevor.

Speaker 5 (28:17):
Huh, all right, Baker, Baker, mayfield Er, Derek Carr Baker.

Speaker 1 (28:23):
I think Baker's got a better arm. They move about
the same. Derek doesn't move as well as Baker. Baker
was a little bit better. I again, I think Baker
was a number one pick for a reason. Baker ended
up at Oklahoma for a reason. And that's not the
knock on Fresno State or second round picks. But I
think Baker's the better raw talent.

Speaker 7 (28:44):
I can't believe we have a Hall of Famer here,
Baker or Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 1 (28:49):
Give me the weekend.

Speaker 7 (28:51):
I see you punting on now two of them. Okay, no,
I'd say I will.

Speaker 1 (28:55):
We'll come back to Gino. Give me the weekend Baker
or Deshaun wantson Baker. I think Deshaun Watson is completely broken,
So we've got time.

Speaker 7 (29:04):
Let's go back Baker Mayfield or Geno Smith.

Speaker 1 (29:07):
Okay, so Geno's bigger. I think he moves a little
bit better. I went and looked this up and it's
one of the numbers. I'm gonna take Geno and this
is the why. And I've been hard on Gina. He
led the NFL in fourth quarter comebacks last year with
a defensive head coach. He also led the NFL last year.
Gino deserves credit on this. This is a thing on

(29:29):
game winning drives. Now, you could say, well he's got this,
this this, Well, you know, Baker's got Mike Evans and
Chris Godwin. They both have defensive coaches. I said this
after Monday's game. Gino Smith and last year he did
not have a good offensive line. Big moves pretty well,
big arm, and he is very good late in games.

(29:52):
Fourth quarters are difficult. You trail teams know you have
to throw. He's also has a running back in Walker
that has been banged up, often dealing with the backup
running back. I think Gino well buying it, not by
a ton, But I'm gonna say Gino.

Speaker 7 (30:08):
Let's be fair.

Speaker 5 (30:09):
Gino Smith currently has three wide receivers who are better
than anything Patrick Mahomes has healthy on Kansas City. Yes, Jen,
I'm taking over any receive unity to put Mahomes on.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
I know.

Speaker 7 (30:19):
I guess my point is, how would Gino look?

Speaker 1 (30:21):
Where would you disagree on this list? The Jalen Hurts
one is well, I'm sorry, he's not better than Jalen Hurts.
Not I don't think he is. But I've got a
fifteen game sample on Jalen with now multiple coordinators.

Speaker 5 (30:34):
Well, what about the fifteen game sample with Shane Steichen
where he was like the.

Speaker 7 (30:38):
MVP of the league.

Speaker 1 (30:39):
That's not his reality anymore. He's out of the building. Well,
you gotta give me what they are now, Like, Well,
Sam Darnald, Well he does have Chambon O'Connor and Justin
Jefferson and Jordan Addison. So that's what Sam Darnold is today.
He's Sam's got the best receiving duo in the league.
That's who he is today. That's what his game is.
We'll seeing them are alt
