Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Welcome in It too, Friday, Our number two. How good
was Kirk Cousins. Great job by him. You know, you
just it is remarkable. It doesn't really matter. You could
be a high school principal, You could be in construction,
you could be in any business. If you just put

(00:47):
your head down, don't create drama, deliver on production. It's amazing.
You look up and you're like, you just keep getting better,
putting in the time, putting in the effort, be coachable.
You look up and Kirk Cousin now got some stuff
in the NFL record book, and like it's just like
more than you think. Like you start looking at the

(01:07):
stats on Kirk Cousins and you're like, most game winning drives,
largest comeback in league history. He's the only quarterback in
league history that's thrown for over four hundred and fifty
yards with three different franchises.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Interesting. Sounds like you almost are lobbying for him to
maybe be in the the Hall of Fame. Is that
what you're doing with Kirk?

Speaker 1 (01:27):
You like, Well, he'll get votes, Philip Rivers.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
You'll get votes for the whole of Come on, you
think Kirk Cousins has earned Hall of Fame material?

Speaker 1 (01:36):
All right, dude, he's gonna have. He's gonna have four
or five records all time.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Okay, his comeback stuff. Now, that's the second best primetime
game ever along with Tom Brady. Like he's getting into
a record book where most game winning drives since he
entered the NFL. Number one in game winning drive. But
he's getting into that category. So he's a much better
I'll give you an example. Kirk Cousins is a much
better trailing late in the game, come from behind to

(02:03):
win quarterback to Aaron Rodgers. That's not close. None the numbers.
You're right, yeah, yeah, they're not necessarily close. He's better
at that. That's he is. And you don't get any
drama with him. You get zero drama with Kirk. You know,
it's funny. In the staff meeting this morning, I walked
in and they didn't tell me initially. As we wrapped
it up, they said, did you hear that Kirk Cousins

(02:25):
is on the show? And I said, today, And you
know what the staff said, you like that? I thought
it was pretty bunny. Was that the whole staffer? Well,
you know it was. Man, have been two weeks. I'll
give them all credit.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
Yeah, nicely done.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
All right, So listen, we've all been on a turbulent
flight in our lives. Things were a little bumpy. No
crash landing, just a little bumpy. Need to rebound, like
to land the plane a little softer. This week, here
we go blazing five.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Let's blaze it up. It's Collins Blazing five. Jets versus Vikings.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Favorites do very well in London. Vikings minus two and
a half. The better team, the healthier team. Jets are
all banged up, including Aaron Rodgers. They have not trailed
in the last three games against the Niners, Texans and Packers.
Darnold's on fire. They also lead the NFL in sacks,
so they put constant pressure on you. I think the

(03:24):
game will be close. The Jets don't want to be humiliated,
but their two wins this year have been against Jacoby
Brissett and Will Levis, and that Will Levis game came
down to the end. Aaron Rodgers, Morgan Moses, Elijah Vera Tucker, CJ. Moseley.
They're banged up. This is not a good spot for
the Jets. Favorites do very well when you go overseas.

(03:44):
Vikings win a competitive game twenty seven to twenty. Lay
the points, Cardinals at forty nine ers. I'm gonna take
Arizona seven and a half. That's a lot of points.
George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey. Kittle's not going to play. Fred
Warner limited, he may not play. Listen. James Connor McBride
is back, so Trey McBride, the great tight end is back.

(04:07):
Marvin Harrison four touchdowns in three games. Connor's become a stud.
And I just like this Arizona offense. They had a
stinker last week, but if you go and look, I mean,
Kyler Murray was completing seventy percent of his throws to
the last three games. I like this offense. Niners defense,
third down defense this year stinks. They're all beat up.

(04:29):
I'm gonna take the Niners to win a close one
at home, but seven and a half points per division
game for a pretty desperate Arizona team is too much.
Twenty seven to twenty three nine.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Ers Giant said Seahawks, So the.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Wise guys think the numbers at a whack. It was
much better earlier in the week when the Seahawks were
minus like five. But I like Seattle here, Maliite Nighbors
is not gonna play Devin Singletary. They can't run the
ball with Devin Singletary. He's all banged up. Gino Smith's
on fire, dk Metcalf on fire, minus six and a half.
I can lay the points their defense. I'm sorry, but

(05:04):
I think they're getting a couple of their defensive linemen back.
I think Seattle was really impressive like Tampa was last
night in a loss in a standalone game. The Giants
only win came against Deshaun Watson, who looks like he's cooked.
They've been held under twenty points in three of their
last four games. Molik Neighbors is out, by the way.

(05:25):
Won Dale Robinson's banged up, Brian Burns is banged up.
This offense is a beab gun and those numbers are
with Molak neighbors. I'm gonna take the Seahawks to win
twenty eight to twenty Cowboys at Steelers. I like the Steelers.
I liked it better when it was minus one, but
I'll take it not getting the best of the number

(05:47):
of Pittsburgh minus three. Okay, they were beat by the Colts,
but they outscored the Colts did Pittsburgh on the road
twenty one to ten in the second half. This is
about Dallas, though, yippie. They beat the Giants in the
Browns run the ball seventy five yards rushing a game.
They can't run the ball, and the Steelers have a
great run defense, so it's gonna be very deck reliant. Also,

(06:09):
the Cowboys defense since Week two has been bad. You
can run on them. What does Pittsburgh do run? Brandon
Cooks out, Micah Parsons doubtful, DeMarcus Lawrence out, trey Von
Diggs banged up. This I get a healthier team at home,
and I think Arthur Smith and Justin Field have been
pretty good. I'm gonna take the Steelers to win again.

(06:30):
Competitive game twenty eight to twenty four.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
Saints said Chiefs.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
I think the Chiefs are gonna win I'm gonna bet
the number five and a half. The Saints have been
an unlucky team. Their losses have been Falcons and Eagles,
both losses by three points or fewer again five and
a half points. Derek Carr PFF has them as the
highest graded quarterback. Alvin Kamara leads the NFL in scrimmage yards.
The Chiefs have trailed by seven or more points in

(06:56):
every game. No Rashi Rice. Their offense has seven giveaways
this season. Only the Eagles and the Titans have more.
It's a sloppy team now without their star volume receiver.
And by the way, Mahomes this season has a passer
rating of one sixteen win targeting Rashee Rice everybody else
it's eighty two and he's out. The Saints offense this

(07:17):
season has been pretty robust points per game. First, third
down percentage excellent. Second, I'm gonna take the Saints to cover.
I'm gonna take the points all day. Chiefs win another
close game twenty four to twenty three. Remember Mahomes not
targeting Rashi Rice eighty two passer rating. Jamack Win sing

(07:42):
at that Jets man, No, no listen, just for grading purposes,
I see Steelers at two and a half.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
I'm not trying to get in any arguments here, but
you got a bad number, Dare. That's gonna be two
and a half.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
For grading purpose, they should be.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
I could bet at two and a half right now.
So I think that's a great thing. I think that's
the best bet you've got. And I like you holding
your nose and taking the Arizona car seven and a half.
I don't I'm not mad enough to do that, but
that's a good bet for you, all right.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
Eric Mangini, NFL head coach Jats Brown's joining us now live.
We just had Kirk Cousins on here. I mean, it's
just it's crazy to think somebody throws for five football fields.
It's just it doesn't even make sense. You know. I
was saying this about Kirk. If you start looking at
these guys like Darnold and Baker and Gino. Now Kirk's

(08:28):
better than those guys historically, but when you've had look
at how many coaches he's had. He had Kevin O'Connell
for a bit, and Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan and
Matt Lafleur. That's a lot of information. Kirk Cousins has
been able to glean off for years. Eric, I'm watching
that last minute fourteen with no timeouts. I'm not sure
how many quarterbacks in the league can do that. You

(08:50):
had to be impressed with that.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
I was. I heard you were very impressed by the
official and how quickly he was able to get the
ball set. You know who wasn't impressed by that is
Tam Bay. They weren't impressed by that at all. That
I thought the game was going to be over when
he completed that pass, because typically with twelve seconds you
don't have enough time to go down and spike it.
But I I like Kirk Cousins a lot. I really

(09:14):
liked when Atlanta went and got them because they've been
loaded with offensive weapons. You and I have talked about
this for two years now about how how we thought
Atlanta would pop and they've had subpar quarterback play and
Kirk is a totally different package. And look at the
way that he's getting these guys that or he's taking
avenge the talent now, whether it's it's Drake London, Kyle

(09:36):
Pitts coming alive last night, he's he had almost as
many catches last night as he had the entire season
prior and this is going to continue, and as Kirk
gets more and more comfortable coming off the injury, I
think this offense is going to continue to be explosive
because they can also run the ball really effectively.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
Yeah. By the way, Baker Mayfield, we said I was
tough on him early, but I said he should Tampa
should sign him. I do think he's one of those
guys that you don't have to pay him a fortune.
Therefore he can keep Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. And
if you start looking at Darnold, you don't pay him
a fortune. We'll look at his receiving corps Geno Smith
not paying him for Kirk Cousins, who's better than those guys.

(10:16):
But Kirk has a big contract, but it's not top
of the market. I think Baker on this team that's
about as impressive as you're gonna look losing a football game.
Your thoughts.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
I like Baker and I like the fact that what
he's done with his second act, and I was happy
for him last year. He gets into the playoffs, he
gets a new contract, all those things, and then going
into this year, his quarterbacks right rating is the best
it's been. His completion percentage is the best it's been.
It's eleven touchdownds to two picks. All those things are great.

(10:49):
I don't love how how much he gets sacked. He's
about ten percent, yeah, in terms of how often he sacked.
ME saw last night where it looked like he got
rolled up on and he might have been out. And
I think that that could be something that limits him
because his toughness can help him, but it can also
hurt him by the type of hits that he takes.
When he's running the ball, it's staying in the pocket.

(11:10):
The other thing I don't love either Colin is like
I like humble Baker, humble and hungry, you know, taking
shots to Tom Brady. It's and don't go back to that,
to the Cleveland Baker. I think where he was last
year and that mentality has really served him well, and
I hope he doesn't regress, regress back, but now with

(11:31):
some success.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
I saw a quote yesterday by Dak Prescott. He says
I don't break the huddles, saying I got to be Superman.
And I thought to myself, bro, when you make sixty
million a year, there's only you can only afford one tape.
Sometimes you got to be Superman. And I do think
that when you pay a guy that much, it limits weapons.
I think he has to be Superman this week to

(11:54):
beat Pittsburgh. That's how I feel. Is it wrong?

Speaker 4 (11:57):
No, you're absolutely He's got to be the the Avengers.
He can't just be Superman. He's gotta be He's gonna
be all the superheroes. And and you're you're absolutely right.
When you're the highest paid player, there are expectations and
and the situation in Dallas is pretty bleak. You talked
about it in the Blazing five. They can't run the

(12:19):
ball and they didn't do anything to really improve the
running game in the offseason, so that's a huge issue. Defensively,
they're struggling with the transition of defensive coordinators at the
bottom third of almost every single category, and now without
Micah and the Marcus, it's there's real issues there as well.
So it comes down to the two highest played players.

(12:41):
It comes down to Dak and CD and you're you're
gonna have to be Superman. And we see it all
the time in Buffalo. There's a guy up there that
that that Superman and and is very good at it
and has been very successful in that role, And I
understand what he's saying, but it's really out the truth.
There are expectations that come with that salary, and there

(13:03):
are limitations with the rest of the team. So if
they're going to be successful, he's going to have to
put the K bob.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
So I'm not Generally the wide receiver position college football
furnishes the NFL with so many good wide receivers annually.
I mean, you may get one great left tackle a year,
two quarterbacks, two edge rushers. You get about somewhere between
eight and twelve receivers every year in this league that
can play immediately. Don't love paying receivers unless they're justin

(13:31):
Jefferson the house. But I'm telling you, with the Jets
and Devona Adams, I mean, it's as they say in Polker,
you're already pot committed here, like Aaron's got you know,
this year and next I would make the move on Devonte,
would you, Yes?

Speaker 4 (13:48):
Absolutely, So they've gone all in. They've gone They've gone
all in with Aaron Rodgers. They've brought in people that
he's wanted. They brought in the coordinator that he's wanted
and this this is a very small window. And the
unique thing about DeVante is he's plug and play. He's
most effective in the New York offense because he knows
the offense. There's no learning curve from a scheme perspective,

(14:10):
so you have that value. Now he's got the relationship
with Aaron Rodgers, and there are complicated parts to the
way that Aaron does things, with how he signals out
to the receivers, the subtleties that DeVante knows, he knows
he'll know better than anybody else who who's in that room.
Then you add to the fact that he can help
Garrett Wilson. Garrett Wilson isn't going to listen to a
lot of guys. But when you bring a guy like

(14:32):
DeVante with not only his skill set but his personality
that has a tendency to make the other players in
that room better, and he's going to respect him right
away because he's got such a tremendous resume. They've gone
all in to get an opportunity like this at this
point in the season, with a guy who's literally plug

(14:52):
and play, when you've already put all so much money
into this, it makes a lot of sense.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
Yeah, you know it, it's some you've been in this situation.
Sometimes it's like mcveigh's dealing with cluster injuries. Sometimes you've
got a quarterback limitation issue, he gets banged up. There's
a lot of reasons a season goes into crisis. So
the Sirianni hurts thing. You know, listen, it's the worst

(15:18):
kept secret in the world. They always they haven't always
been aligned. That's rare. Sometimes a defensive coach and a
quarterback can not connect. I mean, Brady and Belichick never
had dinner in twenty years, I was told. But for Sirianni,
a young coach, to not connect with his young star
quarterback doesn't make a ton of sense to me. Can

(15:39):
can the Eagles fix the fissures or issues or whatever's
wrong with the offense. Maybe it is just injuries. Can
they fix it?

Speaker 4 (15:48):
Well, we're gonna have to give it a little bit
more time than just this small sample. And I remember
last year, what did they start ten and one? And
then the wheels fell off, And at that point, everybody
who was talking about Serianni for Coach of the Year
with the Super Bowl hangover and how well he had
navigated through it, and so he goes through the end
of the season. It's not very well and they I'm

(16:09):
not sure what the expectations were in the building to
start off, but the reality is, you do have a
new offensive coordinator, you do have a new defensive coordinator.
There are going to be things that have to be
worked through from a scheme perspective and understanding how they
have to play. So give him some more time before
we really say this is unfixable. And with Jalen Hurts,

(16:32):
he's got some responsibility in this too. It's not all
just about the coach. He got paid as well. There
are a set of expectations. He's on track to throw
more picks this year than he threw last year, which
was as much as the previous two seasons combined. Then
the twenty turnovers last year that he had combined. He's
got to control those things because that's not all a

(16:55):
coaching issue. That's a decision making issue from someone that
they have a lot of trust in. So there needs
to be some accountability there as well.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
By the way, it's funny the Chiefs have won seven
straight games. All their games are close, and I've said
I saw it about a year ago they're becoming the Patriots.
You start paying the quarterback and you've got a couple
of nice weapons. But you can't be great everywhere. You
just can't be terrible anywhere. You can't you know, like
you can't be in the super Bowl when they had

(17:23):
neither of their tackles. You're not going to win big
games like that. But it does feel very New England,
where if there's a minute and a half left and
it's closed, you're like, y'all'll just take Kansas City. Take
me back to your New England days. Do you build
up kind of an understanding Do you sense other teams'
nerves and your confidence in these big spots when you're

(17:44):
in them every week?

Speaker 4 (17:47):
Yeah, it's pretty powerful, Colin, when you're on the sideline
and you've got someone like Tom Brady. You're on the
sideline and you have someone like Patrick Mahomes, because you know, defensively,
if we just get the ball back, we just do
what we need to do and stop him on this drive,
Tom's gonna go ahead and get us the points that
we need. And there's a there's a quiet but steady

(18:11):
confidence that you're always going to find a way to
win the game, and and and that's that's powerful. And
then on the flip side, when you're on the other
sideline and unfortunately being part of losing teams as well,
there's an insecurity going into those tight moments as to
whether or not you can rise up to it. And
and that that emotional part of sports is more real

(18:35):
than I think people realize. And Kansas City has the
same the same intangible quality that we were able to
have in New England with Tom in the sense that
it makes everybody better because we believe that it's going
to go well, as opposed to wondering whether or not
we can do it.

Speaker 1 (18:55):
Eric Mangini, look at you. You're so well dressed, and
you bring Nick right on this show and he looks
like he just walks out of a nightclub, and look
at you. This is very I know.

Speaker 4 (19:06):
They give me the Jets press conference.

Speaker 1 (19:10):
That should be over in London with them. Oh seriously,
good seeing your coach as all was Eric Mangini.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
All right, I have a great wea you think Colin?

Line News.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
I feel like we need to get people to strap
in today. A lot of NFL players are getting ruled
out for this weekend due to injury. But we're not
starting with that. We're starting with Justin Field's big game
for him Sunday night in primetime against Dallas Colin. I
know that Tom Len and company have not committed to
Fields as QB one, but this game could probably do it.

Speaker 1 (20:12):
Right.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
You show up in primetime, Oh, beat the Cowboys at home.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
There is no looking back.

Speaker 3 (20:16):
It's his job. The opposite is true if he vomits
all over himself and they lose this game.

Speaker 1 (20:20):
Remember Mike and DeMarcus Lawrence kind of So this is
a week defense that could be really weak.

Speaker 3 (20:28):
It's set up for Fields and remember Lamar Running did
a good job against Dallas Fields with his legs can win.
Arthur Smith, the offensive coordinator of the Steelers, felt Fields
was unstoppable in the loss of the Colts. I assume
he met second half, saying that Justin Damnar took the
game over. When you feel it with the player, it
didn't matter what I called. You felt him rolling. I'm

(20:49):
with you. I'm on the Steelers here. I can't make
a case for the Cowboys at all. I think Pittsburgh
wins this game. And I know I was calling him
a five or six win team.

Speaker 1 (20:57):
They're gonna be at.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
Four wins if they take down the Cowboys come that's
a major surprise for me.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
Well, they have a great defense and an evolving offense.
The key is their offense hasn't gotten in the way
of their defense. Kenny Pickett, it did, so it's not
a great offense, but it's not like even last week.
You have the right to a bad half on the road.
They had a good second half, and Justin Fields is

(21:21):
I think we both agree there's a lot there. Big
Tall got a whip, do can throw it from the pocket?
Hold the ball a little long, So sometimes it takes
the right coordinator. Arthur Smith has been a head coach
he may have found like Sam Darnold, he may have
found his Kevin O'Connell. I mean, it happens. You just
find ther CJ. Stroud found his first out, Justin Herbert's

(21:44):
first coordinator, Shane Steiken. Sometimes these young guys they need
to find their guy and it could be the second
or third coordinator.

Speaker 3 (21:51):
And remember Baker Donald. We're seeing a resurgence of these
former first round picks and maybe Justin Fields is next.
Second story is Doug Peterson's seat keeps getting a hotter
and hotter in Jacksonville. Rob Gronkowski came out and had
an idea who could replace Peterson, and his initials are BB.
He thinks his former coach would be a great fit
with the Jags.

Speaker 1 (22:11):
I think Coach Balichick, well pick up the phone if
the Jacksonville Jaguars Paul and they have a head coach vacancy,
no doubt about that.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
Everyone wants to see that.

Speaker 1 (22:20):
I don't want to see that. I foul fans want
to see that. But I feel like, you know he
will take the cop because they had Tom Kauflin in
there before. It was under the same coach and tree.

Speaker 2 (22:29):
As Bill Balichack.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
Yeah, of course you picked the phone up. Parcells would
commit to broadcasting until there was a good football job.
Belichick's a coach. He could do the TV stuff, but
he's a coach.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
So you didn't take Jacksonville in your plaze of five? Right, No, okay,
you're gonna go Jacksonville here. I love them. Jonathan Taylor
was just ruled out high ankle spring. So enter tray
Sermon quickly, guys, get on fantasy football. Pick him up,
Tray Sermon, good back. Remember he's a solid.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
But I don't know, man, you got you think I
have courage? With Arizona plus seven and a half, you're
betting on jack Jacksonville with all the unless Jacksonville.

Speaker 3 (23:10):
Doug Peterson coaching for his job against the Colts.

Speaker 2 (23:12):
By the way, counting for a job last weekend.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
I was gonna save it, but true, I was gonna
save it for headlines, heard line. But you know what
you just happen to know offhand what Jacksonville is against
the Colts in their last eight meetings at home. You
want to take it again? Seven and one, close, eight, no,
straight up, eight, no against the spread. Colts go outdoors
to Jacksonville, well, humid, Buggy and Jacksonville dominates him. I

(23:36):
think Jacksonville's aside this weekend final story Colin is Yes,
at this point everyone has waged in on the offensive
struggles of my Jets, Aaron, Rodgers and Salad. Now it's
Nathaniel Hackett's turn to chime in. The Jets offensive coordinator
responded to Garrett Wilson saying the offense needs to mix
it up.

Speaker 5 (23:56):
We want to make Garrett the focal point of the offense.
We want to be sure that we're targeting him and
get the ball, kind of setting things up for him.
And I think it's been great to see those other
guys you know, around him come up with big plays
if something's not open.

Speaker 1 (24:09):
We never want to force the ball. And you like
the Justice Weekend? Cannot you like the Justice Weekend? That
the Vikings right now have the best coaching staff in
the league top to bottom.

Speaker 3 (24:20):
He looks like my mild mannered social studies teacher in
like tenth grade, who have like four kids sleeping in
the back of the classroom, and he's just talking and
droning on.

Speaker 1 (24:27):
Let's just stop.

Speaker 3 (24:29):
We know this team coming in, we got all these
new offensive linemen. We're gonna run the ball with Brisol
and this kid Brayleen Allen.

Speaker 1 (24:35):
Yes, where's Breess gone? I'm not dancing around.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
I'm gonna I'll direct that to Nathaniel Hackett. Maybe he
can address I dancing around.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
I like the Mottle more power from Myron.

Speaker 3 (24:44):
He's got some feet. Well, Braylon Allen had some power.
You really like the Viking. You just I can already
read your mind. You see Vikings victory opening the show Monday.
Just take it up. You did come up the Jets
and then it's like, oh, Buffalo's coming up Rogers, it's over.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
Become one of those people that responds on social media.
You think, literally every take I have against your favorite
team is just so I sound good on Monday or Tuesday. No,
I like the hottest team in the league to beat
a beat up Jets team who's had rumors swirling about
player acquisition. By the way, you go over to London.

(25:20):
I don't even know why favorites tend to do well overseas.
I don't know why that is, but it's just true.

Speaker 3 (25:26):
Yeah, I mean, I listen. I've got legit concerns. I
don't like this wide receiver chirping stuff. I mean, no,
disrespect er, Wilson, Why are you doing He did a
radio interview, right, and he popped off for like forty
five seconds. Well, I don't think you who do you
want to be ode?

Speaker 1 (25:42):
I don't, come on. I think he wanted to be vicious.
I think sometimes young players don't have sort of the
understanding or self awareness that, oh god, this is going
to become a national quote. I mean, you go on
these podcasts and everybody's sitting there laughing and joking in
their hoodies and stuff. It's very casual. I know, I
do podcasts. It feels casual. It's not broadcasting. I think

(26:02):
Garrett Wilson's just saying, yeah, our offense is just kind
of you know, we just kind of do the same stuff.
I don't think Garrett in that moment thinks, oh, just
gonna be the headline in the New York Post tomorrow.
Young now, I think like Kirk Cousins, you know, you
get these older guys in the league, mahomes, they know
they can read the room. When Baker came into the league,
he'd say anything of the podium. Baker is now much
more reluctant to say anything at the podium. So I

(26:25):
think I don't think the kid was vicious or is
trying to undermine the team. He just said it, and
in New York it becomes a big story.

Speaker 3 (26:31):
Yeah. No, that's a really good point because you know,
like Kirk Cousins came on, was good. He just delivered
a bunch of platitudes. He's not putting any Nope, Wolton
more material anywhere, Nothing that's going to ruffle feathers.

Speaker 1 (26:40):
That's right.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
You know, let's leave luck to us, you know, yeah,
that's right.

Speaker 1 (26:43):
We're we're that's our feather rufflers.

Speaker 3 (26:45):
Yeah. You remember when I went off on the Tyreek
kill stuff this week and I was a trade him
Ye Hill commuted about it and then Ian Rappinboorre talked
about it on an NFL network. That's like our job
to do that.

Speaker 1 (26:54):
Well, we're not really supposed to be clickie we were no, no, no,
we're about.

Speaker 3 (26:57):
To be that forward thinking and you know, right, all.

Speaker 1 (27:02):
Right, no kind j maag with the news.

Speaker 2 (27:06):
Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping by the
Heard Line news.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
So I pose this question, uh to Eric Mangini, and
I didn't love as the Cowboys get set to go
on the road face Pittsburgh. They're underdogs for a reason.
Pittsburgh stops the run, Dallas can't run. It's gonna be
a very Dak reliant game. And Dak said this week
it's not all about me.

Speaker 6 (27:33):
I mean, I don't break the huddle and say I've
got to go be superman here. But I've been able to,
you know, break some tacos, have been able to do
some things that have helped people out. As I said,
use my fee more and make the throws. Uh. And
so I don't think it's anything outside of my game
that I've got to try to do rather than as
I said, he's being my best.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
So actually, when you make sixty million a year, sometimes
nobody else can afford a Cape. You got to be superman.
That's what they've asked of Josh Allen. That's what Mahomes
has done the last two years. When they moved off
Tyreek Hill. They loved Tyreek, they couldn't afford him. If
you're gonna be top of the league in money, you're

(28:10):
not one of the guys, you're the guy them the breaks.
You gotta be able to compete with Baltimore in a
big spot. Compete with Green Bay, compete last year with Buffalo.
If you're fighting for the top of the market dollar,
go for it, bro, But then you have to be superman.

(28:31):
You're the guy, not one of the guys. The running
back room. They wanted Derrick Henry Jerry Jones said we
couldn't afford him. He was only eight million dollars. The
running back room's the worst in the league. The old
line is shaky at left tackle, the wide receiver group
no depth, one star. So and again the five highest

(28:52):
paid quarterbacks in the NFL. You know what the record
is this year, four and twelve. So if you want
Mahomes money, then we're gonna judge you on them Mahomes standard,
which is bad receiver room hoisting a trophy. I'm not
saying you have to win the whole thing. You're not Mahomes,
but you gotta be able to not get routed at
home against the Green Bay team that was the youngest

(29:14):
in the playoffs since the nineteen seventy Bills. So when
you are and have to be superman from this point forward. Now,
at the end of this contract, he'll be like the
ninth highest paid quarterback, not the first highest paid quarterback
and then it changes, but for the next two years
with that contract, Yeah, to your team, you're the guy.
And by the way Jerry has constructed it this way,

(29:37):
Jerry has paid you to be the guy, not one
of the guys.

Speaker 2 (29:43):

Speaker 1 (30:10):
Well, it's if Davante Adams goes to the Jets. There's
a headline in New York today, is Garrett Wilson the
odd man out? I don't think that's the case. It's
just Davante's better than Garrett Wilson. So we're not going
to get twelve targets a game. It may go down
to seven or eight. They actually should run more than
they do currently. Aaron Rodgers talking about his former teammate

(30:34):
in Green Bay star receiver Davante Adams.

Speaker 7 (30:37):
I don't know how much I can say about it.
This Tambreez and I still have a close friendship with him.
We spend time in the off season together. He's a
great guy and a great player. And address that out
of my hands.

Speaker 1 (30:50):
So listen, If there are five boxes to check in
any trade the Jets, I'd argue check all of them.
They got to win now. There's real urgency in the
building head coach GM they got there's a lot of heat,
like it's hot seat time. You have an aging quarterback.
He's running better now, but he's an older quarterback. The

(31:10):
team I think does need juice. I don't think they
have brilliant coordinator offensive symmetry right now. Schematically they need
some juice. And also, this team in New York needs relevance.
Man's just the reality of it. Uh, you know, Mets now, Yankees,
Knicks and you know Giants aren't terrible. They're they're worthy
of some coverage. So I'm I usually believe in the

(31:33):
NFL long term stuff over you know, short term. But
I mean, let's be honest, the Jets are now a
short term franchise. Aaron's got this year and next. The
only thing that's long term with the Jets is suffering.
I mean, so I mean to me, this is a
short term franchise for the coach, for the GM, for

(31:53):
Aaron's career. It is, and it's run like that. They panic,
you know, so you know Aaron. It kind of talks
about if Davante Adams, who's now with the Raiders, which
are a messy franchise, if it working, if it work
in New York him as a player.

Speaker 7 (32:12):
The grass is green where you water it. You know,
there's the fear mongering that goes along with the adage
that the grass is not always greener on the other side.
But grass is green where you're watered and put the time,
and you put intention and attention to whatever you're doing,
and you can make a special situation that I'm in anywhere.

Speaker 1 (32:30):
I also think in fairness, if you're if you're the
savior of a franchise and you're allowed to bring your
buddy the OC and Alan Lazard and you get that
power like Brady and Tampa, well then the pressure was
on Brady and Tampa. It's not on Trifton. Tristan Wurf's
the right tackle. It's not on Lenny Fernett. The pressure's
on Tom Bruce. Arian's already had a trophy. If you're

(32:52):
the savior, it's on you. And right now the franchise,
Aaron's getting not a pass, but it's mostly on Sola.
It's on Nat. You bring in Devonte Adams, the pressures
on aeron Mike Williams, Lazard, Garrett Wilson, Davonte Adams. That's
pretty good. Two capable backs. Won a power back from
Wisconsin rookie then more of a dancing speedback, like like,

(33:15):
that's a good offensive said also Tyron Smith left tackle.
I mean, have two capable veteran tackles like it wouldn't
be top three in my opinion on mind, but it's
a lot better than what Kansas City's looking at. It's
a lot better than what Buffalo is looking at. It
may not be San Francisco deep, but it's pretty good.

(33:36):
Mike Williams, Lazard, Garrett Wilson, Davonte Adams. The pressure then
is totally on Aaron. Speaking of New York, we played
it earlier, that Pete Alonzo moment. It is, it is,
it was. I found it funny last night because I
wasn't really on social I was all in on the games.

(33:58):
But it is funny that that Pete a Lonzo's a
guy that he I mean, didn't have like fifty home
runs a rookie, Like he just burst onto the scene.
And he's a home run derby guy. And let's face it,
everybody likes the power hitter. They don't necessarily translate to
postseason success, but like, power hitters are fun, and you know,

(34:18):
you can lead the league in hits. You can be
a leadoff guy and the speed guy. But you know,
we don't have a speed derby. We have a home
run derby. And he came onto the scene. But because
he had been a free agent, he is a free agent,
and because the Mets made him an offer and he
said no thanks. And he'd had a pretty rough season,
a lot of strikeouts, like one hundred and seventy ish strikeouts,

(34:40):
batt in two forty. Now not a lot of people.
I mean, there are teams bat in two forty, so
it's not that bad. But Pete hadn't had a great year.
And it was just interesting when I danced around on
social last night after the win, how many people had
been dragging Pete Alonzo. Who was I thought he was
like the most popular met for five years. How many

(35:01):
people had bailed on him, and then ninth inning, trailing
to nothing, he delivers.

Speaker 2 (35:09):
Here's the pitch swim in a five ball to right field,
pretty well, hit freelick back at the wall, he jumps.

Speaker 3 (35:15):
That's done. Hate that up, Hate that at paint a
Lotzo with the most preperable home run of his career.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
I mean, listen, the city's different. Where the greatest franchise
of all time is your neighbor and you are one
of the most beleaguered franchises. Now you move to the Phillies,
who have been around to the late eighteen hundreds, have
been in I think what eight World Series. I think
there's an argument they're the best team in baseball. Here

(35:45):
was Humble Pete after the win last night.

Speaker 7 (35:50):
It's just been such a great ride all year, and
I'm just happy I could come through for my team
right there.

Speaker 2 (35:56):
It's a really special moment.

Speaker 1 (35:58):
And it doesn't it doesn't hurt all. Admit the National
League playoffs. We got lucky this year at Fox. They're
all on Fox, Mets, Phillies, Dodgers, Fadres all right, just
being honest with you. Nothing against Milwaukee, but I'm not
gonna speak for the bosses. But this is what I

(36:18):
was kind of rooting for walk these puppies in Tomut.
Can you This is when this is why I said
October so good. I get those two series Yankees playing
college football, Big ten, Pac twelve Merger first year, SEC
Big twelve Merger first year, and then we have NFL.
This is one of the great weekends of the year.

(36:40):
Then Sunday Morning London, Aaron Rodgers Vikings, this is a
top five weekend of the year. From these incredible series,
the Saturday games, the London game, remember when the London
Game started, or dusel Dorf wherever they played them, and
you always get like Jacksonville. They just stick Jacksonville over

(37:03):
there pre Trevor Lawrence and you know Atlanta, and you'd
be like, I wouldn't watch that game if it was
in my backyard, Like you couldn't. I mean, they're just brutal.
Now you're getting these games like if you put Aaron
Rodgers in the Vikings in the one o'clock window, that
would be the game I want to watch.

Speaker 3 (37:21):
Well, I don't know. Bill's Texans is interesting. Joe Mixon,
I'm sure you heard was ruled out. He's not gonna
play it. From Akers Show again. Okay, but Khalil Shakir,
who's been awesome for Buffalo, I already has caught every
single target since it's been thrown out.

Speaker 1 (37:34):
Do you know what the wise guys loved the Texans.
I didn't stayed away wise guys like the Rams over
the Packers. I stayed away wise guys like the Texans
over the Bills. And if they don't have Joe Mixon,
cam Akers is fumble prone and he's not He's not
as big and strong as Joe Mexican.

Speaker 3 (37:51):
The Buffalo problem is they play a lot of zone
and c J. Stroud just kill zone. He just torches it.
You see him last week against the Jags. And now
the Bill's safety rap. The guy who got run over
by Garry gets banged up a lot. I mean, Derek
Henry ran him over and he's concussing out now. I
don't know about the linebacker status, but yeah, that's a
that's a toss There's some toss up games here that
I just listened a whole league.

Speaker 1 (38:13):
In the history of the league. I'm talking to my
buddy Chad Millman about this. There has never been a
five week stretch with fewer big spreads all these games
are three points, two point Look at I mean this week,
That's why I'm taking Arizona at seven and a half. Yeah,
that's a this year, that's a gigantic spread. So I

(38:35):
get Trey McBride, Marvin Harrison, Yeah, Trey McBride, Connor Harrison,
Kyler Murray and over a touchdown against a banged up
forty nine er team Like that to me was like
that was screaming and it's a division rivalry. Arizona got housed.
So when you get beat at home by a couple
two three touchdowns, odds makers will tell you, as long

(38:59):
as you have competent quarterback, play take that team.

Speaker 3 (39:02):
The following Bok Buffalo wasn't at home, but they got
smacked around, embarrassed deep pants on national television by the Ravens.
Doesn't Buffalo bounce? Are you gonna see Josh all the
fifteen carries? That was losing.

Speaker 1 (39:13):
So my take was I like Buffalo because they My
rule is always if you're humiliated and you have a
competent quarterback, the next week you'll be good. But the
wise guys loved Houston, so I stayed I'm gonna flip
my pick. I just stayed away.

Speaker 3 (39:27):
Yeah, Seattle, you are taking a big favorite in Seattle.

Speaker 1 (39:30):
Okay, but the number was five. It's now allows he
number six and a half.

Speaker 3 (39:33):
It's gonna go higher than that. As for sure. It's
hitting seven. It's gonna hit seven. With the Neighbors news.
I mean Colin he has like I think forty five
or fifty percent of the target share if you will.

Speaker 1 (39:43):
Get the Giants play. He's the offense.

Speaker 3 (39:46):
They don't have any And don't tell me about Devin Singletary.

Speaker 1 (39:48):
Where is banged up? Maleak's out, Singletary's banged up. So
I I just and again we watched an injury ravaged
Miami offense go to Seattle. Couldn't compete that Seattle loss
at Detroit thirty eight first downs. I'm telling you this
Seattle team I may sneak into the Super Bowl bubble.

(40:09):
Oh seriously, wo
