Speaker 1 (01:49):
What's up, Funky Ben?
Speaker 3 (01:51):
I'm doing good. How are you ay?
Speaker 1 (01:52):
Bro? Like you out of shirt?
Speaker 3 (01:54):
Now? Well? You know, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
If you you and you're in California, you get a
lot of the same temperatures. I'm here in Wisconsin, so
it's it is cooling off significantly. I can't really, I
can't really wear tank tops anymore. I I do love
the fall, but your tank top season is probably over.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
Dude, I saw a picture. I don't know who I
was talking today and they're like, Yo, Ben Askrian, I said,
I know. Did you see him?
Speaker 3 (02:17):
Yo?
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Why didn't you just do what you're doing now when
you were fighting?
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Because you can't take testosterone untill ego.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Come on, you think nobody takes room, No I do.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
I'm not a cheater, you know. Honestly, the biggest part
of the cheating thing for.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Me, Daniel, these guys take tests room as a man.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
As a man.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
If I say we you and I are we're going
to compete, then I have said we're going to compete
on this rule set, and I'm going to honor my
word to you.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
Even if you're a competitor, I don't like, I'm still
not gonna cheat. So that was kind of my thing.
You know what I am.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
I'm getting more and more and more as a nutrition,
and that's probably having an effect.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
Also, I don't know what I've got.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
I've got a shot. Seriously, Oh my god, you're gonna
say something. I don't know. No, I know, it's okay.
So I was talking to somebody and they started doing testosterone.
Guy looks in phenomenal shape.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
At least.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Then it makes you horny, be honest, does it make
you already there.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
I was there.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
No, but it doesn't make you turn back to like
a team where you're like, all you want to do
is chase your wife.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
That's what I do every day, all day. Come on,
because she's already like, leave me alone, let me alone.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
I'm like, come on, and then you get on the test,
doster on and it's even worse.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
She she alleges that. But I think I was pretty
bad the person one.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
Dude, I'm trying to tell you, that's what the guy
told me. He goes. It just makes me feel like
I'm fifteen again, or like I just chased my my,
my old lady around the house all day long.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
Yeah, I mean I kind of already felt like that
a little bit. But yeah, yeah, I mean I've heard
other people say that as well.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
Nothing wrong with that. It's a good time in my life.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
It's a good time, all right.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
Ben.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
So, guys, welcome to a new episode of Fucking the Champ. Sorry, Ben,
and I as always get a little off track, and
that was something I wanted to know because, uh.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
We're gonna get you.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
I don't know how long everybody's telling me to do it.
I'm just kind of fearful.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
No, we're gonna get your testosterone and we're gonna get
you on a healthy diet. I don't know how long
it's gonna take us, we're gonna get you there. You know, listen,
you competed for a long time. At some point you're
you're you're really smart, and you're gonna say, yeah, this
is what I want to do.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
I don't know what it is, but it just fear man.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
I'm so I'm so crazy. It doesn't make any sense. Hey, listen,
so last week.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
Alright, wait, what did that have to do with what
I said?
Speaker 1 (04:34):
No, because I'm just crazy, bro, and I feared it.
I don't want to be what I was when I
was younger. I was so out of my mind.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
I was you're talking about what I heard that on? No,
not that, but also diet. You're gonna you're gonna figure
it out. Diet You're going to I promised.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
Okay, okay, four years, I will. I will, not one year,
six months? Okay, Oh, Islam told me get on the
diet day. Forget those guys. Listen.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
We care about you, Danielle. We care about you.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
Maybe it's just because you entertained us. We don't know,
but I want you to live longer. I want you
to be around here for a while.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
I think I think right now I'm probably gonna live
to the right sweet age of eighty. That's it for me,
eighty the upper room for me.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
It.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
But listen, man, UFC three oh seven was last weekend,
and I think that our expectation for Salt Lake City
has gotten so great that when we get a card
like last weekend, it didn't feel like it made you
feel when we left Salt Lake City all those other years.
What did you make of the card in general? Like
(05:43):
it just kind of felt like it wasn't what it
used to be when you're there.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
Well, I think, I mean, I honestly feel like I
said this on the show that it wasn't a super
great card.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
I thought it was good on paper, it was, it
was good.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
I remember the one thing I said I was, I said,
when I look at this card and I look at
UFC three oh eight, I'm like, oh my.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
God, you have see three oh eight. That's gonna be
a lot of fun.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
You know, there's the Mega Metov guy who's really good,
and Golia's really good, jamaiavn Whitakers, Fun, Holloway and to Puria.
They did have god in Volkov, right, which got taken
out that card, like that card was stacked. You have
Ralphael those audience on the undercard, So I think when
we compare it to three oh eight, it was maybe
not as great. And then you know, sometimes you wear
(06:29):
a card and say I'm not all excited and then
the fights are go nuts, right, and then sometimes you're
like all excited, and then they end up being not
really great fights either.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
That's what last weekend felt like. Yeah, you know, but
what do you Alex Periro is becoming like easily the
greatest r and mixed martial arts, Yes, but last weekend
he was hurt going in to the point that he
didn't know that he would even compete. How much more
to respect does that make you have for the champion?
Speaker 3 (06:59):
Yeah, it's great. I think he's about five times in
the last sixteen months that.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
He's depended Abuilt three times in seven months.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
Three times and seven months. I think it was.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
I think it was five fights in the last sixteen months,
which is, you know, compared to the other champions, it's
just incredibly active. You need to look at someone like
John Jones one time in four years you know, other
fighters have been where they don't don't fight frequently.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
He just fights all the time, which isn't like you
really don't like that?
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Aha, you don't like you don't want to say it,
but you don't like John Jones.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
You know what I don't like? Uh?
Speaker 4 (07:32):
Okay, so I would say, especially John's early career absolutely
greatest of all time status. But I I because we've
talked about so many times the show, I'm annoyed that
he's not fighting time in Assmall. I think it's so stupid.
I can't believe Data is allowing it. Steve hasn't fought
four years either. It's just a really weird thing that
I can't get over.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
Yes, Okay, back.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
To Perreira, though he's super super suit off he which
is making him a superstar. Other champions should probably take
note of that, and I think, yeah, I think it
builds up stories. You think about Michael Jordan, you know,
the most famous flu game.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
Okay, so stop what stop it right now? You said,
Michael Jordan. Let me ask you this now, dude, I
swear to got you guys paint me into this way
where it almost makes me feel like I'm hating on Perera.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
You don't like huh, you don't like Michael jordans.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
I love Michael Jordan, but I'm saying, like somebody Oosman
said that to me the other day that John Jones
is the Michael Jordan of MMA, And now you're making
this comparison Ben Ben Ben Ben, What okay?
Speaker 3 (08:36):
He had here was subpar conditions.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
He had a short training camp, he had an injury,
and he decided to compete anyways, and he found a
way to get it done.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
And I think that's the mark of a champion.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
And now we're talking about the flu game.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
Yeah, yeah, the flu game.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
Talking about the flu game for one singular instance, he
was like, Michael Jordan, well.
Speaker 4 (08:53):
Yeah, yeah, I mean, but that is if you think about, like,
there's a lot of athletes that have almost career defining
moments when there's some type of injury, hardship or adversity
that they have.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
To deal with in order to get over. And you know,
in fighting, the really weird thing that happens in fighting
a lot is we don't actually see this because you
can just delay your fight if you're the champ. If
you're the champion said ah, hey, give me a month
give me six weeks. The NBA Finals is the NBA Finals.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
The super Bowl is the super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
Like, when those things are gonna happen, they're gonna happen.
You can't just say, hey, no, give me four more weeks.
So we don't only see fighters deal with adversity and hardship.
And so it's great when you know Alex pops in
there even when he's maybe not one hundred percent.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
I already was hurt very bad. I already's hurt very
bad going into that fight. And he went to Utah
not knowing if he was gonna fight. But let me
ask you this. And light heavyweight used to be the
home of the wrestler. I want you to put in
your computer right now. You have c light heavyweight rankings
(09:56):
two thousand seven. We talked about this.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
There's none of them at middle How how is that
even possible? Hey, a lot of the best wrestlers stop fighting. Hey,
you know who's a good wrestler who's going to be
a good fighter and you're gonna I want to give
you the Florida to get pumped up here?
Speaker 3 (10:12):
Jacoby Smith? Ben? How you fighting? What?
Speaker 1 (10:16):
Ben? He is managed by zincing?
Speaker 3 (10:19):
I know I'm telling you, don't give him some Jewish right.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
Now, I'm the one that he's the man.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
I know, he's focal mistake I'm giving you.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
Did you see his natural skills the other day?
Speaker 4 (10:30):
He's good because he uh, his buddy Tristan Ran always
told me that he was was he a boxer the
kid too or something like he did something like that
where he's got hands too.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
He's so good. Is he's gonna be really good? He
kind of reminds me of a lot of those guys
that are real good. But Ben, there are no wrestling
I think that Pereira at some point is gonna have
to beat one of those guys to submit himself as
one of the grace of all time because at the
end of the day, right now he's still just kickboxing everybody.
He's fighting, but that's.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
A fight, is a fight, and so he you know,
it's Alex can't control who gets to the top of
the rank, right it's not his he listen, he's one
of the guys you can you absolutely cannot accuse him
a churity pick. And he's the one that he showed
up five times in sixteen months. Nobody else does.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
That once they get the title. So it's just a
weird thing and it just happens.
Speaker 4 (11:21):
And yes, uh, you know, I think you think, and
I think you're probably right that he is maybe vulnerable
against a really good wrestler. And you know, so like
you know, when he's considering this Tom Aspinall or John Jones.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
And maybe the problem with Aspinall you know, big kid
that can wrestle.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
Wrestle, and John Jones also, right, John Jones is really
high level wrestler, grappler, and so if you know, but
maybe if you went and challenged one of those guys,
maybe that's the thing that would make him like a goat.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
Like I think he's already I think he's already okay
in the conversation. Hell, bro, you know that in the
last seven months he tied the record with me for
most light heavyweight title defenses in modern UFC history. Clearly
three He's three times already. It's like John Jones with
all those defenses Me and Alex.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
And then oh yeah a number two. John was first.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
Yes, John was number one. Of course John has like
twelve defenses.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
Well I thought maybe he like got busted and yeah,
you know, he got killing this guy like he came
back do more or something to that fact.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
I don't know. He's so funny, Ben Ben.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
Why don't memorize I can't memorize his career and guy,
I know he got popped multiple times and got stripped
of the belt.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
I know that much.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
What these are just facts.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
These these are facts. These are okay, hey, Ben, you
have see three or seven is great, But like you said,
three h eight seems to be the one that is
on the tip of everybody's tongue. One of the guys
in the main event, Elliot to pour You, Elliot to
poor You, has got beef with everybody right now. Eliot
to pour You went from being the guy that told
everybody he was really really good to becoming the champion
(12:56):
in tremendous fashion to now he's getting talked about by
Sean O'Malley. Part part about me and the O'Malley equation
of this whole thing is uh. I don't know if
Sean knew what he was trying to say. When he
was tweeting this. He wrote, Ilia is gonna be the
next Cody Garbrant. He had his little Dominicq Creuz performance.
(13:18):
He's about to get pieced up by Max Holloway and
go downhill from there. Then then then right, that's insulting
it and keeping it, so that's him insulting him, and
then he goes from there. Not really. I feel like
ili is one of the most skilled guys actually in
the UFC. But fuck Iliot, so did he in weird?
Speaker 3 (13:43):
You know what I thought?
Speaker 4 (13:44):
I thought there there has been significant ties between uh,
marijuana usage and schizophrenia, So I thought, maybe we're seeing
multiple personnelities as Shawn within one tweet, which is really impressive,
you know, because some guys I actually nfortunately know a
few kids have been affected this way where they kind
of got schizophrenia and I'm guessing it was from marijuana usage,
(14:06):
but like they'll act one way one day and then
that's not true. Yes, it is, absolutely look it up
real teenage marijuana usage. It doesn't seem to affect people
as much as they get older, but absolutely, uh who's there.
I think Alex Bearronson maybe wrote a book on it
or something for sure, though I know some kids' I
can't prove it, but I suspect that has had an effect.
(14:27):
But O'Malley had multiple personalities that in that one text.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
It was really weird. I don't I don't know. I
don't know what he was trying to do there? What
what's wrong with you? You don't like my marijuana?
Speaker 1 (14:41):
Give bro? Like, are you insulted this guy trying to
pick a fight? Are you complimenting?
Speaker 3 (14:47):
Like?
Speaker 1 (14:48):
It was the craziest That's one of the craziest I've
ever seen, Bro. He said, He's like Tony gar Brady's
going all the way down hill. It's done. And then
he calls it one of the most skilled guys in
the UFC. Does it really makes sense? It's just I'm
just the whole time, I was like, make it makes sense,
sh like, just make it makes sense.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
I don't know did he Did he ever clarify that?
Because that was weird?
Speaker 1 (15:13):
And then I don't think this sad thing is like
I don't think like the grounds that he had for
picking a fight with Illi all revolved around him holding
that belt, not that he doesn't have that belt.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
Huh No, it doesn't make any sense, right, It's very rare.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
Do you have a guy who's popularity and options are
directly tied to the belt. It's it was like that
with Sean because I find myself feeling like that where
it's like.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
Hey, he just got he just got beat up.
Speaker 4 (15:48):
We don't we don't need to see him bump up
the next way class when he's got beat up in
his weight class.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
Yeah, it just feels like I feel like I want
to know what Sean lamalley's doing still, because I do
believe he's still viable inside the UFC's relevant, But I
don't have that need or I'm like, I wonder.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
How he would do against Max Holloway or well, I
think he should fight Sanhagan next.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
That would be a great fight and taken down.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
Yes, exactly, they're going to stand in trade. It's make
a fight and then and then obviously you go uh
Umar and Morob and then Pum.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
Yeah, but that's not the only one. All right. So
Sean O'Malley had that tweet about Iliot to Pouria. Yes,
but then Iliot to Pouria in Islam Mahatchev had tweets.
Now this one Ben felt a little bit more. It
felt personal and like these guys might like a real beef,
(16:43):
it said. Islam says. If Tapooria keeps acting like that,
it may finish badly for him. Something might happen. I
haven't seen him cross any lines just yet. He needs
to focus on his weight class and defenders. Belt Ilia
didn't response, I don't need to cross lines, but it
would seem like the kids that hang out with you
(17:04):
will try to cross the line that they can't come
back from. Let's leave the kids out of it and
settle it like adults inside the octagon in twenty twenty
five that does this. Hey, this doesn't feel like a
sports uh bickering. This feels like they're almost saying something,
you go outside the octagon.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
I was just thinking about this and then I looked
it up and I'm correcting.
Speaker 4 (17:27):
This is Portia is Georgia, and kind of where he's from,
And if you look at a map, it's like neighbors,
you know, and you know like say Missouri and Kansas
have a rivalry in college sports, Uh, Oklahoma and Texas probably,
and like where he's at in Georgia is literally right
next to where Islam and those guys are from. Like
(17:48):
it's very close.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
Really, yeah, George, Georgia, it's close to so it's close
to the Negatin. I didn't know that. I didn't know this, right,
That's kind of why I got friends like you who
are like really smart. You don't get credit for, bro,
you do what people don't give you credit for. How
smart you are, Like you know a lot of random.
Speaker 3 (18:10):
Shit, simich random shit. Yes, they are touching. So maybe
that's why I was you know, I was a geography major.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
Oh really, you didn't major in sociology like everybody else.
Speaker 4 (18:24):
I mean, I guess I had the same thought process
of like, hey, I'm gonna I'm want to do something
wrestling someone, pick something that's like relatively easy, and I
enjoyed a little bit.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
So that was yes, I did that all right.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
Guys. So it's October and the weather starting to cool,

money while doing it? Let's go. Do you like whenever
these fight beefs are more real like this? Or does
it kind of worry because it felt like mos Vidal
and Covington was more than just fight being it was
(20:02):
he punched him at the steakhout, Absolutely right, it's uh
Armand's rookie On and Bobby Green weren't even fighting each
other and got into a fight at the hotel. Yes,
I love that.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
I love it, and that's why, you know the thing
I hate more than when Chail goes off on this also,
and I bet you hate it because you're a wrestler,
and us wrestlers were real.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
If we don't like someone, we don't like someone.
Speaker 4 (20:24):
I can't stand it when people are like, I hate
your guts, blah blah blah blah blah, and after the
fight they're like, oh my god, this is bull crap.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
You guys are supposed to hate each other. You guys
are not supposed to hug right now.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Remember do you remember Mohammed Wilkaya in Ah oh down cop,
Oh god, that's like the worst example ever, so bad.
Why these guys bought at the p I Manel told me.
You know, Manel goes, I beat him so bad. DC,
Oh my god, he can he come in? He tell
me this this he goes, I slapped him DC, he
(20:58):
shot on me. I beat him so bad in the bathroom.
Speaker 3 (21:01):
Bea it is.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
They get it to the fight and they don't fight.
They don't fight, and then they hugged. How could it
be so bad that security followed you the whole week?
But that's the fight you didn't fight.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
I posted that.
Speaker 4 (21:16):
One meme that's really popular, and and they both both
of them got mad at me. Uh, you know the
one where the two like me, dogs are they're they're
going and then and the defense pulls back and then
they start looking at each other and they don't do
nothing like that was you want to do it? So
that that is something that we hate more than anything else.
So yes, I love it when it's real, when they
actually want to fight each other. Could be Connor would
(21:37):
be a great example of you know that was.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
Good each other, but they actually fought. They just fought
each other and.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
Then he wanted to kill him afterwards.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
Still, yes, that's when you know it's still that's when
you knew it was real. But these guys seem to
be like threatening each other at and that's it's it.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
I'll give you the path. I'll give you the path.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
I love beef, I just don't love I don't love
that when they start saying stuff like I don't know
because I guess it's just the unknown of their their cultures. Yeah,
that makes me go, man, who would are these guys
try to that? They would say this dude may never
come back right like that, because I don't know the
(22:17):
culture will And know I think.
Speaker 3 (22:18):
That's a little maybe you know, I maybe who knows?
But I think it's great.
Speaker 4 (22:23):
I love that Tuporia is planting that seed because I
think that you know, Tupuria has a title fight coming
up very soon.
Speaker 1 (22:31):
Why is he doing that though, when he's got the
most dangerous guy, Max Hollowe in front of you.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
I'm gonna tell you, because he beats all away. Then
he's got Lopez, who's got a pretty good following right now,
who's got the popularity. He goes and beats him up,
and then he's defended the title a few times and
then he says, now I'm calling for a super fight,
and they've already he's already got the seeds planted over here.
It's not he's got to recreate it. He already has
Islam and they're going back and forth.
Speaker 1 (22:54):
I kind of like, uh, I kind of like when
they plant the seeds. You saw what Juliana Payne did
last weekend. Yes, they put Kayla Harrison on the screen
and she called out Amanda new Ness.
Speaker 4 (23:03):
Yeah do you think she well a mandon Nunia is
just playing had a video out that maybe she was
gonna come back to fight Juliana.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
I believe that's the video.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
I saw the video just come out. I saw that
video but I didn't know what to make of it.
It was when she was she was doing something in
front of her house or something like that. Yeah, Amanda, ness,
I look like.
Speaker 3 (23:27):
She was working out. Let me see, let's see Luise's
has sending it to us. Oh my god.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
Yeah, she was gonna fight. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
So, I mean, I think if I was a man Nunia's.
Speaker 4 (23:44):
She could definitely come back, you know, and beat Kayla
Harrison because otherwise Kayla Harrison is gonna get the belt shot.
Speaker 3 (23:50):
Yeah, so she's saying right here she wants to fight.
Speaker 1 (23:52):
I can't believe you won't look for me. I've suffered
too much beyond what I deserve. Yeah, she doing dancing.
She's dancing a some sort Dana Whiteley's call I Miss
You So Much. She's dancing. Yeah, yo, she's I mean,
I don't get this video. I'm turning it off. I
can't watch this ship.
Speaker 3 (24:17):
Up stort penitive versus Nunya's.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
Penning. They fought already. Oh shoot, it's Panya. They fought twice,
but Paya one.
Speaker 4 (24:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
Yeah, I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
I don't know, man, I just worry, Like I like
when it's like it's it's in the street, like and
I don't want know why that to get really hurt.
I always, you know what, I kind of wonder. I
hope that I'm with you the first time you see
George Mazdal.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
Oh, he's I've been waiting the whole food.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
He's going to hit you so bad. He's gonna hit
you so bad.
Speaker 4 (24:44):
Good, I've been telling him. And this is the weird
thing about fighting. We talked about Cop, Mavel Cop and Mokayav.
It's like, there's not really any rules. When you get
in the cage. You got fifteen minutes pretty much do
whatever you want. We have a few rules here. You
can't you know, can't grab the nuts, can't I gouge him.
But besides that, you could try to kill him as
(25:05):
bad as you want. And so it's like you have
fifteen minutes to do that. And they kind of stare
at each other, so like do you want do you
really want to beat this guy up?
Speaker 3 (25:13):
Or don't you just let us know?
Speaker 1 (25:15):
Yeah, you want to beat him up. I always felt
like when I wanted to fight someone, honestly, you didn't
have no choice. Once you're in there, you got to fight.
Know why they're gonna kill you? When you're fighting the
best guys in the world.
Speaker 3 (25:26):
Yeah, but sometimes that was a Bobby Douglas quote. Is
Bobby Douglas still around?
Speaker 1 (25:33):
Yeah, he's alive.
Speaker 3 (25:34):
Okay, do you know that I haven't seen him in forever.
I haven't seen that guy. He's great.
Speaker 4 (25:39):
Anyways, he had this one saying where he when two
dudes stood and stared at each other in wrestling.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
Of course, Bobby wasn't a fight coach. Although did you
know how Bobby Douglas cornered me for my third fight?
Speaker 1 (25:49):
Wait?
Speaker 3 (25:49):
What? Yes?
Speaker 4 (25:50):
Well, because I didn't take a coach because I all
of a sudden, I just I booked myself a fight.
Speaker 3 (25:55):
I don't need a coach to beat this guy up.
And I saw Bobby Douglas, I said, hey, Bobby, get him.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
You didn't cleared or anything.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
No, it was in It was in Des Moines, Iowa.
And you know he was at AMC. Yeah, Bob, oh no,
but he would say.
Speaker 4 (26:14):
He would say, one guy is scared shitless of the
other guy, and the other guy is so happy that
he's scared of him because he's actually more scared of him.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
Like that, they're both shared, so they don't do nothing
to each other.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
Well, I would be so scared that I would just fight.
I wasn't fighting because I was brave. I was most
times just throwing because I was terrified inside the octagon. Ben,
It's crazy, all right, Ben. Time for Folk's Corner. What
you got for us this week?
Speaker 3 (26:40):
Oh, I got a lesson in economics. Okay, that's what
I was thinking.
Speaker 4 (26:45):
I'm curious what you think about it, because I feel
I feel both ways about it. As a fighter, it
is annoying to see fighters not get paid all that much.
Now they are making way more than they used to.
But at the same time, the thing I go back
to is economics, supply and demand. And there are so
many males in America, and I do say male specifically,
they are not as many female fighters. There are so
(27:06):
many males in America who would die for this shot
to fight on national TV for twelve and twelve or
whatever the UFC minimum is. And so if you have
this immense supply of men who are willing to fight,
and you know what, on the undercart, on the small fights,
they are kind of a commodity. It just us need
two dudes fighting who are relatively skilled, who aren't bumps. Okay,
(27:27):
that's all you need. It's a little bit of a commodity.
So you have all these guys. So the supply is too.
Speaker 3 (27:33):
Large, it's way more than demand can meet.
Speaker 4 (27:35):
And now on the spectator side, you know, we've had
other leagues, whether it be PFL, BELLAT or one championship,
they're all struggling. They're all struggling to gain a rule
which and honestly, people are saying, you've seen this too
many fights. So what that's saying to me is that
there's not enough demand for more fights. And so there's
(27:55):
not enough demand from a consumption side, and there's too
much supply from people who want to do it. The
pay is always, unfortunately, gonna stay kind of low.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
Yes, absolutely, absolutely because it's as a little bit, but
it's true. It's absolutely the true. Because here's the deal.
The NBA is a monster, but the one place you
can find the best players in the world is in
the NBA. The NBA does not exist without the best
(28:25):
players in the world. Hey, there are one hundred leagues
around the world, but they never can hold the candle
to what the NBA is. So the best coming play here.
Speaker 4 (28:34):
And now the other thing there, Daniel, the other thing
in the professional sports that other people neglect here is
is the Dallas Mavericks are fighting the Golden State Warriors
for athletes because.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
They know if their team wins.
Speaker 4 (28:48):
So while you may only have one league, you have
thirty teams which are competing for good players to make
their teams better because the franchise values are are really.
Speaker 1 (28:57):
One place in fighting one place because guess what, there's
only one place that, honestly, man that got not even
trying to be like a UFC guy, There's one place
where you reach superstardom. There's one place where you fight
the best in the world. There's one place where you
maximize your visibility and earnings inside the octagon and outside
the octaon and it is the UFC. And every other
(29:20):
organization tries and then eventually it starts to falter. And
I don't understand why. The only one that has found
success in Scott Coker. He's the only guy that has
found sustained success.
Speaker 4 (29:34):
I think obviously if you go far, that pride was
really big for a while, like there's a few others,
but yet now it's like UFC is it's more of
a monopoly than it's ever been and no other.
Speaker 1 (29:45):
It continued to get the gap widen. The gap widens
every time. Every year it widens, and not even by
like a little bit, it widens by double every time
every time. And Dana was talking about this the other day.
Every time the Peace uses that Kila Harrison loss to
promote someone on another card, that just tells you that
(30:06):
they're just throwing shit at the wall hoping something sticks,
and go, oh, well, the hope is that, oh, this
girl beat Kayla Harrison. She just fought in the UFC.
Let's but to get to let's watch this girl. Well
killer Harrison's one of the best in the UFC. So
they go, oh, UFC, light bulb, go watch UFC. They
never get to the product that you're trying to sell
(30:27):
because you're constantly pushing us UFC to them that you
meet him friends and god, who's about the headline of
pay per view former UFC champion? He was the UFC champion, right,
that's that is It's always going to be an issue. Ben, Yeah,
I like that. That was a good fun It's corn
I like that. That was good and it does suck.
Speaker 4 (30:46):
And so you know what I tell all these young males, man,
if you want to have some fun, you can fight
in the cage.
Speaker 3 (30:52):
But if you want a real job, this is a
shitty job when you go that is that true? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (30:59):
You can we make money because we made money that
we would never have made anywhere.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
In the point one, you know, point two percent or something.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
It's like really, but still to Ben, you never even
learned to fight. You just learned to you just now
you just literally remember that one time I said, Ben,
why didn't you like, like, why didn't you go? Dude?
You made it to a world title fight. You never
learned striking. You were like, I didn't really need to.
Why would I?
Speaker 4 (31:23):
Yeah, I mean, listen, well we're not gonna get into
the bass bend session.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
But the fact it's not as I'm okay.
Speaker 4 (31:30):
So if you said you said you said average male,
I was a hell no, don't fighter. If you were
to tell me elite level wrestler, I'd say, well, you know,
you're starting on third base. You know, if you want
to get the home point, at least you're starting on
third base.
Speaker 1 (31:44):
And you're absolutely right that far Togo, You're absolutely right.
You're talking about the wrestler, not that you're talking about
the average man in the country. Yees, don't f Yeah, the.
Speaker 4 (31:52):
Dude comes up to you at the freaking uh Starbucks
on the corner there and gil Roy and said, hey,
d I would I want to fight?
Speaker 1 (31:59):
I'm like, man, I don't know. Don't do this. Man,
You're gonna get your ass kicked.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
Doug.
Speaker 1 (32:05):
All right, Ben, thank you may always awesome doing the show. Bro. Guys,
