Speaker 1 (00:30):
Michael Irvan, next hour, Matt Hasselback in five minutes, live
in Los Angeles. It is The Herd on a Monday. Baby,
we are just starting. We're not even close to halfway there.
Jam Mac is alick in the wounds this morning.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Off that jet l.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
At least you got that l out of the way
and could enjoy the rest of your afternoon. Oh yeah,
it was just a great day after I woke up
at six point thirty to watch the Jets go three.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
I loved it.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
Yeah, I know.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
I went out with a buddy, had a big dinner,
lasso vino, came home, crash, woke up boom, first Series
ready to roll.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
It just wasn't a good Sunday for me.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Fortunately, Saturday was awesome.

Speaker 4 (01:07):
I mean, Vanderbilt Minnesota, like everything came through Sunday.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Just not good four to oh in fantasy football. I
know you care.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
Deeply, right, not at all, No, but I do appreciate
the update.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Colin right, Colin wrong. We do it every Monday. Here
it is where Colin was right. Okay, Aaron Rodgers, I
said they wouldn't be a playoff team. I questioned their
old line being jumbled together. I thought Nat Hackett was
one of the weaker offensive coordinators. And here's the other thing.
Aaron's forty off an injury, and he wasn't great his

(01:38):
last year in Green Bay. The other New York team
is better. I'm sorry, I don't buy it. I think
they're poorly coach from a coordinator perspective, and the Jets
shocking are good on defense and underachieving on offense.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Tell me if you've heard that before.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Where Colin was raw.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
Yeah, the Bengals will not bounce back and be a
playoff team. Listen, Joe Burrow had a bad pick. Welcome
to the NFL. He's got twelve tds and two picks
this year and one hundred and fourteen passer rating. They
are so bad defensively, and they were short sighted letting
Joe Mixon go because he could at least help time
a possession. They are second worst defense in the league.

(02:17):
The game was wildly entertaining, but I mean, this is
what you do when you're literally selling off parts a
year in advance of having to pay Jamar Chase. This
is what it looks like a track meet every Sunday.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Where Colin was right.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
I said Cliff Kingsbury was the higher of the offseason,
that he and Jayden Daniels wouldn't make the playoffs. It's
better than I thought, but right now, offensively, this was
my shock pick in the NFL last year. Houston was
shocked everybody. I said, this is the team that'll make
the playoffs. I didn't think they'd beat this profound third
straight game with at least thirty four points. But Kingsbury,

(02:57):
he had used this offense similar styles to other young quarterbacks,
so Jaden Daniels and Cliff was a predictable and ideal.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
Fit where Colin was raw.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
You know, I thought the Bills were over their nonsense,
but once again, it's a franchise with a brilliant quarterback
and you can't trust them in big spots. Their late
game management yesterday was unforgivable. McDermott is you know. I
think he's organized the structures in place, but I don't
trust this team. Josh Allen was one for sixteen on

(03:34):
throws of ten yards or more. He had one of
his worst games, and they're the opposite of the Chiefs
in big spots. I have no trust for Buffalo once again,
which has been the story for years.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Where Colin was right.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Caleb Williams, I said it's gonna take time, but I
predicted even if they only win seven games, you'll feel
better about it. Four straight weeks. The passer rating is improved.
And here's the thing. Now they have a semblance of
a run game.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
CJ.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
Stroud as good as he is, no Joe Mixon, it's
not the same. So Caleb is more poised. His first
ten quarters, he had a fifty seven passer rating. In
Caleb's last ten quarters, it's right up against one ten.
The Bears are three and two, and regardless of the
total wins, they finally have a franchise quarterback in Chicago.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
Where Colin was right.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
I picked Denver as the best over under bet in
the NFL. I said their personnel offensively is better than
you think. And bow Nicks right now has them on
a three game win streak. And this is a football
team that's defense is surprisingly good. But boy Vegas had
these guys at five and a half wins and I'm like,

(04:56):
we don't know they should get two with the Raiders.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
We don't know.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Oh, how good the Chargers are going to be in
their schedule was kind of workable right now Denver. It's
not ridiculous if you look at their schedule to think
if they don't make the playoffs, they could knock a
few teams out of it. In November and December, where
Colin was raw. USC is not ready for the Big Ten.
Pushed around by Michigan and pushed around by Minnesota. The

(05:25):
Golden Gophers played with more intensity, more urgency, more passion,
and they were more physical. They ran for one hundred.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
And ninety three yards.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
USC's bad tackling from years past has re emerged.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
They're five and seven in their last twelve.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
They better pray their left tackle doesn't get hurt because
they have no depth at left or right tackle on
the offensive line and they just don't have enough high
end elite players. And now Lincoln Riley is getting to me, impatient,
the walls closing in. Listen to this silly thing after

(06:02):
the game, Jamila, do you feel like that last cuts
down they got in from Minnesota?

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Don't ask him, I say, don't ask him that. Next
question on the third who cares what he says on that?
By what player's opinion? Let's ask a more professional question.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
Oh brother, grow up? Is where right Kirk Cousins?

Speaker 1 (06:21):
First Place media was crushing Atlanta for getting Kirk and
drafting Pennis, and I said, are you telling me it's
a problem in the NFL to have the best quarterback
in your division and the best backup? Kirk's a total pro, unflappable,
high IQ and EQ. He compares to me favorably with
Dak Prescott. You cannot tell what he's done when he

(06:43):
gets to a big drive late in the game. He's
not moody, he doesn't pout. He's a pro. He's responsible.
And once again, Atlanta, who I picked to be a
potential number one seed because of their schedule, it looks
like the young guys are coming round. Kyle Pitts finally's emerging.
It takes some guys a while. How about that where

(07:06):
Colin was right. I said the Mets, Phillies, Podres, Dodgers
had a chance to be the best two weeks in
memory in the National League. These series are insane, the
Dodgers and Podres. The fans got involved yesterday because of
the way.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
The Mets play.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Their games are all white knuckle in the eighth, the
ninth innings. Here's a couple of home runs over the
last couple of days in these series yesterday and these
are turning out to be as intense or more intense.
And we thought it would be the best two weeks
in the National League in years.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
Here you go, runners still at first and second with
two away.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Here's a two to one. There's a.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
Bus there ready down sohi Altani Horise in October put
a three run home runs ones who pitched the Castianos
in the left field, don't lie.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
It's a fair ball.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
Head of Phillies head tie the Sillies back to Queens
blown a piece.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
Caestiano, stay hero.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
I don't know what the TV ratings are. You cannot
turn these games off. I don't remember the last year
where you had more great players, more great stadium environments
like four for four on stadium environments. They're all great,
they all jump off the TV, and not just because
they're on Fox. We said, this is gonna be insane.

(08:38):
This gotta feel like nineteen eighty five baseball, and that's
exactly what it feels like.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
Colin Wright, Colin Wrong.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
in newone eastern nine am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
FS one and the iHeartRadio app Heard Hierarchy Time. Now,
let's go the top ten NFL teams.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
According to Colin, it may be my weakest number ten
team ever, the Dallas Cowboys. They're three and oh on
the road. Pittsburgh handed him the game. But you know
what they're doing it without Micah and DeMarcus Lawrence. And
you know I've said this before. I watched Kirk Cousins
on Thursday night and Dak Prescott, you know, on Sunday night.

(09:20):
You know, you can never tell his mood. Dak hadn't
played well, Ceedee Lamb disappeared, and Dak figures out a
way to win. So there's a lot of things I
don't like. I don't think they're close to a super
Bowl team, but they have a winning record. That's something.
And they're three and o on the road, and that's something.
And I do think McCarthy and Dak get along. That

(09:42):
wasn't the case with the Jets. That's why they made
a coaching move. So I'll put him at ten, number nine,
and now I proudly put the Falcons at nine.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
I like this team.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
They've won three of their last four, only lost comes
to the Chiefs. All three have come with Kirk Cousins
in game winning drives. I already thought he was a
great fit. I have no problem Penic's being on the bench.
I like their O line, their run game. Raheem Morris
is an offensive, friendly, defensive coach who I think grew
with Sean McVay. I like this team. I picked him
to win the AFC South. I picked him to be

(10:13):
a potential number one seed in the NFC and win
twelve games. They are what I thought they were, number nine,
number eight, the Bills, you know the minute I like him.
I mean they have lost to the Ravens and Texans
after the Chiefs. Those could be the two best teams
maybe in the AFC. They're losing to the right teams,

(10:34):
but they've been held under three hundred yards three of
the last four games. I don't want to hear about
excuses that you were missing a slot receiver from Boise State.
Kansas City won last night over four hundred yards, missing
all sorts of people and making Juju Smith Schuster Jerry Rice.
I don't want to hear about it. This team is inconsistent.
I don't like their game management. They're a little banged up,
and they're losing the good team, so I'll still put

(10:55):
them at number eight.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Number seven.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
The Texans beat them.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
Only lost this year came on the road against the Vikings,
so they're four and one. I think they're a bit
immature and young. They lead the NFL in penalties. I
think they have the potential to beat themselves in a
big game. I think the Joe Mixon injury hurt c J.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
Stroud.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
I mean, look at Kayleb Williams. Now the Bears can
run the ball a little bit. He looked pretty good,
doesn't he.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
I think c. J.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
Stroud is excellent, one of the guys in the league
I like to watch, But I do think Joe Mixon's absence.
I mean, by the way, there's a reason the Bengals
defense is bad. Part of it is ball control. They
have to score through the air. They score quickly. Joe
Mixon's been underrated. I like the Texans. I'll put him
at seven, number six. I may have the Packers a
little low at six. They could be better, but after

(11:38):
that ugly pick six against the Rams, Jordan Love at
one hundred and forty passer rating. The defense leads the
NFL with forty five big plays. We love their tight
end wide receiver grouping. That craft kid is something else.
They also lead the NFL in takeaways. That's rare for
the Packers, so they make big plays on both sides
of the ball. Again, I think they're probably better than six.

(12:01):
They just I'm getting hams, I'm getting quarters. I love
them instead of a full game. But let's put him
at six, number five. I don't think the Commanders are
a fluke. I said I thought they'd make the playoffs
going into the season, and I think I think basically
what we said with Jayden Daniels, we said he was
going to be Lamar Jackson light. I just didn't think
he would be Lamar Jackson light in September and October

(12:21):
of his rookie year. I think he's for real. I
think he's coachable. You know, when a coach and a
coordinator are singing publicly a quarterback's praises.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
In camp, what a coach is always.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
Saying camp, with the rookies coming along, let's lower expectations.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
Long way to go now. They were like, who this
kid's magic, this kid's unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
I like their front office, I like their coordinator and
their coach.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
NFL.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
They're leading the NFL in points per drive. That's a
Vegas stat. I got Washington at five, number four. The
Lions now are so consistent, they're kind of boring to
buy their three and one best offensive line in the sport,
very well balanced, number seven passing, number six rushing. I
think they should rush the ball more. In my opinion,
I think that when they're at their best, Jamison Williams

(13:12):
is becoming a.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
Scary deep threat. That matters.

Speaker 1 (13:17):
You can't cheat on that run game. You got to
keep your safeties back now and you so they can
run the ball and eat the clock and go deep.
Hutchison has become TJ. Watt level dominant on the edge.
I have the line the boring Lions at four, number three,
the Ravens, I love them. I love Lamar, huge energy.
I don't think they're necessarily built to beat the Chiefs.

(13:39):
I think they're built to beat everybody else in the
league not called the Chiefs. Number one rushing offense, and
I say to your I say, wow, they can just
keep the ball away from Mahomes. Yeah, whatever, it doesn't matter.
Give him thirteen seconds.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
I'll win.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
I love Derek Henry. I think the Cowboys should have
grabbed him. The Ravens the smarter franchise. Did Lamar in
the red zone against the Bengals. I know it's the Bengals,
but this is funny. Six four touchdown passes. Oh I forgot.
He doesn't win in the playoffs. You guys can keep
taking that side. I'll take the side and Lamar Jackson's good.
We'll see who wins that argument. Number two the Vikings.

(14:12):
I mean, listen, they're beating good teams. The last four
wins are the Niners, the Texans, the Packers, and the Jets.
They lead the NFL in point differential. Their rush defense
is fantastic. Some of the recent the Jets aren't running.
They couldn't run this. Brian Flores, I know he's got
a lawsuit with the NFL. That dude can coach, that
dude can flat coach. That's the best coaching staff to

(14:35):
me outside of Kansas City in the league. Spags and
Reid is what's happening in Minnesota? Number one? Kansas City.
Literally last night on Monday night football was showing off.
They did a Warriors with Katie and Stephan Clay and Draymond.
They were screwing around and showing off. And I mean
Juju Smith Schuster's career over. Oh wait, Kareem Hunt out

(14:59):
of the league, You're over.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
Oh wait. Everybody else's circumstantial. The Chiefs.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
I don't want to hear about Joe Burrow's defense and
Josh Allen missing the receiver.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
I don't want to hear about it. I don't want
to hear about what Lamar's got.

Speaker 1 (15:13):
Three new offensive linemen, Isaiah Poteco's gone, Rashee Rice is gone.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
They're bringing guys off the beach and.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
Getting four hundred yards flukey interception, missing kicks doesn't matter.

Speaker 3 (15:27):
They've separated.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
This was weekend of separation, Kansasity separated from the world.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd Weekdays
and New Eastern Non a em Pacific.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
Twelve years, three rings, MVP of a Super Bowl, third
most receiving yards and catches in NFL playoff history. Julian Edelman, who,
by the way, NFL kickoff on Fox. That is always
Sunday at eleven Eastern on our network here, So let's
just dive into the Jets. So one of the advantages
you guys always had in New England is there was
always so much turmoil in the teams in your division.

(16:00):
Miami was revolving door Jets with coaches. Buffalo blessed their
heart until they got Josh Allen. They were given the
go team effort. But again, you were in a division
without continuity, and you had nothing but continuity. I am
not a fan of a team. I always watched two
things for a coach, is a team playing hard, Yeah,

(16:21):
they didn't quit?

Speaker 2 (16:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (16:22):
And where are you?

Speaker 5 (16:24):
Well?

Speaker 1 (16:24):
If the Jets went Monday, they're in first place. If
you want to fire sla on a six game losing
streak and the team's quit, But.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
Didn't it feel a little rushed?

Speaker 5 (16:34):
It did, But it doesn't surprise me. It's the Jets.
You know, we all knew Sala was on the hot seat.
The only thing that surprised me They did this early,
but I could vividly remember we were in a two
game skit a couple times in my career and Belichick
would always say the same thing, Fellas, we need to
make changes. This is a production business, you know. This

(16:54):
isn't for feelings, This isn't for your family. This is
a result business. And if you look at the results
the last three years, I mean, they haven't been very good.
And to not have a plan last year, I think
that this stems from last year's not having a backup
quarterback plan and thinking Aaron's our savior.

Speaker 2 (17:15):
This a national football league.

Speaker 5 (17:17):
If you go out and think that one guy is
gonna make your team drastically different, it doesn't happen like that,
and it does in certain cases. But like thirty eight
year old guy not playing his best coming into a
different situation, I think there's a lot of things that
stem to why this decision was made. You know, the

(17:39):
Cadence talk and how to deal with Aaron he's a
franchise quarterback.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
It was crazy.

Speaker 5 (17:44):
I'm doing some prep for my podcast Games with Names,
and we're doing the twenty fourteen Packers game against Seattle Russ.
We'll rushed through five interceptions and the defense had too.
You know that game. I'm sitting there watching Aaron Rodgers.
He had a Caten's touchdown. I mean, that's what he does.
And so I think there's so many outside noises that

(18:06):
the outside people heard that.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
I think the Johnson family just got fed up.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
I saw Adam Schefter had pointed out he said he
thought New York got to sala. Now Boston is also Boston.
Philly and New York are loud, aggressive medias out here.
We're pretty toothless. It's la We're in a good move.
We don't even honk when you cut us off on
traffic Boston, did you where? Were there ever times could

(18:32):
have been Spygate? Were there ever times with the noise
outside the building like you did hear it and feel it?

Speaker 5 (18:40):
No, because we had such strong leadership, and that comes
from Bill and Tom, the two craziest compartmentalizers I've ever
met in my life.

Speaker 2 (18:50):
I Mean.

Speaker 5 (18:52):
They were always the same, Like Bill, Yeah, was he
an a hole? Yeah, but that's how he always was.
Was he just always laser focused? Yeah, he could have
something going on outside his life. He could have something
going on with the team, there could be a trade.
He was the same guy, and that's where it starts from.
That outside noise is dealt with through the leadership of

(19:14):
your team.

Speaker 1 (19:15):
Did when you guys looked at the Jets, I mean
they had the sand chest team. When they had a
good left tackle, good defense, was a hell of a
gamle there. But a lot of times did you look
at other teams like you go into town, here come
the Patriots. Whether you just won a Super Bowl or not,
it was always the standard. And did you like ever

(19:36):
look at other team even in warm up so cut,
you fly in, you look at the facility, you look
at everything.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
To yourself, it's a circus.

Speaker 2 (19:43):
Not in the game.

Speaker 5 (19:45):
I never felt that in a game because Bill was
very good at keeping us focused on what we had
to do to go out and win the game. Yeah,
but I did feel that those kind of those feelings
when we would have joint practices and saw how behind
the scenes were how teams practiced, the intensity of their practices,
that's when I would see, you know, like, uh, yeah,

(20:07):
this team's not gonna be very good this year. Really yeah,
in a joint practice, joint practice, because that's where you
get to see where the team's made up from.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
You know, we see the product on Sunday.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
You want to give any specific Nah, I don't.

Speaker 5 (20:20):
Want to throw any teams under the bus, but there
was a few where you know, you go out there and.

Speaker 3 (20:25):
They're hamming, egging it.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
It's just we.

Speaker 5 (20:27):
Got water breaks every two seconds. I mean, just soft just.

Speaker 3 (20:33):
Saw this show has never had a water break. I
won't I won't allow it.

Speaker 5 (20:39):
I know you know that it gets hot in certain places,
but we had a ten minute water break where we
were sitting doing like one on ones as a different
team because we had to sit.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
You know, it was just that's.

Speaker 5 (20:50):
When you can really see what a team is is
through how they prepare, through the how they practice, the
intensity of their practice.

Speaker 3 (20:57):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (20:58):
That's why you hear so many great things about the
great teams. You look at Kansas City, what's everyone here
about that camp?

Speaker 2 (21:05):
They're working their tails.

Speaker 5 (21:06):
Up practices and he hits, he hits because those linemen
need to hit. You know, That's what I always felt.
I could see a difference in organization.

Speaker 3 (21:14):
That's funny.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
Davante Adams, Saints, Steelers, Bills, Jets. Let's say you're a receiver, obviously,
quarterback matters. What else matters when you're potentially looking at
other places, I.

Speaker 5 (21:29):
Would say quarterback is number one thing. Can he deliver
you the ball? And then also having other pieces. You know,
with the Bills, they have Shakir who's been developing into
a cool, awesome little slot guy, which is like that
Beasley role that they've been missing for a few years.
King kaid he needs to get rolling, but he's had production. Yeah,
I think it's very attractive place for a big time

(21:51):
receiver to come in and not take necessarily all the
eyes away from the other pieces, but be able to
go in and make key plays on key situations. I
think that would be a great fit for DeVante. I
don't think it's a great fit for the Bills though.

Speaker 3 (22:08):
Why is that.

Speaker 5 (22:09):
You know, they just got out of the same situation
when they got digs to you know, they traded digs
and digs out and we saw in the first two
weeks how well Josh Allen played when he didn't feel
the weight of having to throw to someone. Yeah. Now
these last couple of weeks where they've lost a couple
of games, I think two pass happy Joe Brady needs

(22:30):
to get back to the run, get Cooks more involved
and take the load off of Josh Allen and make
him throw situationally, Now.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
How do you think they changed?

Speaker 2 (22:39):
It had to?

Speaker 5 (22:39):
You know, they've gotten into a deficit, a ten point deficit,
and a lot of times offensive coordinators they panic and
they change up their game plans completely because they're down seven,
they're down ten. But you know, there's there's still three
quarters of the game left, you know, and what are
you just going to change your whole game plan and
all the things that the whole team's confident running. Now

(23:02):
we're going back to other things, a drop back pass
game where we haven't necessarily practiced a bunch. So I
just think that offensive coordinators sometimes panic when they get
a deficit and fall and run away from the run.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
You guys didn't trail a lot, but you had your moments.
Go to a big game, because there is that line
in the sand Julian from let's not panic to oh crap,
this isn't working.

Speaker 3 (23:27):
Go to a big game.

Speaker 1 (23:27):
Maybe it's the Ravens, maybe that you do have to say, guys,
we're gonna move a little off our game plan.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
Or is that a halftime decision.

Speaker 5 (23:35):
It's probably a halftime decision. I mean, it's still I mean,
the game is adjusting to the adjustments. That's what a
football game is, you know. That's why you look at
a lot of these West Coast teams that have their
script and they go out and they have a twenty
five play script and they look great, and then the
second half comes when they have to make when they

(23:57):
have to make adjustments to the defense, adjustments they made
to their game plan.

Speaker 2 (24:01):
A lot of times they dwindle out.

Speaker 5 (24:03):
And we've seen a lot of these West Coast systems,
you know, have trouble with that four minute offense when
they have a lead because they run out of plays.
You know, specifically for US, I think in the twenty
eight to twenty eight to three game against Atlanta, we
were down a lot, we still ran the ball, though,
I mean you look at James White and we may

(24:23):
have replaced runs with passes to the running game, but
that was a huge part of our system. We didn't
necessarily change it right away. What we all talked about
doing was you're not going to win the game in
one play. Let's kind of just focus on what we
planned all week and continue to do that, and then
we get it to halftime and then we'll make a
change if we have to.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
When all the coaches can talk.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
You know, we were talking circle back to the Jets
about Belichick fitting with the Jets and the one thing,
and Bill got criticism for it. But Bill understood the
circus that was the Jets, and he you know, when
he worked for the Giant, it was such a class
organization that in the building, I always imagined Parcels and
Belichick making fun of the Jets, like looking at him

(25:09):
going on a circus. Well, then Bill goes over there,
you know, Parcells, But I just don't think that organ
I think firing Sola, in my opinion, is such a
turnoff to good coaches. I think coaches there is a
community or a fraternity. You don't when a guy's a stiff.
But like the Vrabels and the Belichicks, the guy I

(25:32):
think they look at the Jets and probably go, Hell's that.

Speaker 5 (25:38):
The Jets do have a really good defense, and those
are two real defensive, happy head coaches.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
I'm telling you, Like Bill.

Speaker 5 (25:44):
If you listen to him talk about Moseley and and
the whole defense a front for the Jets, he likes that.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
Oh he loves that team.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
Is Rabel a good fit? You know him?

Speaker 5 (25:56):
I love ravesman, I don't. I just I can never
see those two liked the Jets.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
I'm sorry you, Matt.

Speaker 5 (26:03):
Okay, We've like it was always exactly what you said.
We would look at the Jets and say, now, they
did have a few teams with Rex that you know,
we were fourteen to two. Smoked them three weeks before
go to the division round. They smoked us. They beat
us a couple times like that. But like you could
always that was always a hiccup, right, you know what
I mean? That was always a blip in the radar

(26:23):
that was unpredictable. I just I can't even come up
with a thought because I'm thinking about if Rabel or
Bill went to the Jets. So I have no doesn't
feel it just doesn't feel right.

Speaker 1 (26:37):
Okay, So on Monday night, it felt a little bit
like it. Remember when Kevin Durant went to the Warriors
and they were already good, and there were nights that
they it felt like they were showing off. Yeah, they
were kind of playing, they were playing with the league,
And I felt Monday night, standalone game, Taylor Swift is
there laterals. I mean I felt like Kansas City was
sort of flexing. Yeah, it was like put on a

(27:00):
little show tonight. I never thought you guys played like that.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
Now.

Speaker 1 (27:04):
The Randy Moss years were crazy because nobody could guard Randy.
But I do feel like there's a little warrior. Not
all championship teams are the same, Yeah, but the Michael
Jordan teams Ello flair. Are you cool with the fact
that sometimes it does look like Kansas City is flexing
a little bit on these standalone games. I mean the

(27:26):
reversus laterals, like four or five of them.

Speaker 5 (27:29):
I mean, that's a huge part of what they've always done.
You know, they're they've always been very innovative with the pitches.
I mean, I think trave did this two weeks ago,
didn't he in a Third and Long situation.

Speaker 3 (27:40):
And he was on the show. He said, we didn't
practice everything.

Speaker 5 (27:44):
That they're always inventing something. They're very collaborative with allowing
players to come up with plays, and that's very different
than what we were. Like there was probably Tom and
you know, Josh are the only ones kind of doing that.

Speaker 3 (27:58):
Would you guys go into a game with like one
trick play.

Speaker 5 (28:01):
We'd have trick plays all the time. It's just we
would save that one trick play for when we need it.
And when we developed the tendency for when people were
thinking that trick play wasn't coming okay, So everything was calculated.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
How when the trick I always think about this, This
is weird. The trick play comes in and you have
to act like nothing's changed.

Speaker 3 (28:22):
Is that hard?

Speaker 5 (28:23):
I remember specifically on the one of the double passes,
the one Ravens game, Josh came up to me.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
He goes, hey, do I need to give you some
lee time? I'm like no, Why, He goes, we gonna
take off.

Speaker 5 (28:33):
Your glove or something like or excuse me, okay, but
we can't take off our glove. That'll show that we're
doing something. Uh so your heartbeat gets up.

Speaker 3 (28:46):
But didn't you go practice on the sideline?

Speaker 5 (28:49):
I would always so before that, I would always catch
balls from Tom and I'd warm them up before the drive.
And so before that drive, that's when I would sit
there and I'd get warm, and I'm kind of getting money.
You're just casual, casual, but I was sitting there slinging
that thing, getting that thing warm. But we didn't necessarily
need a lot of lee time going into a trick

(29:11):
play because we practice it so much. But getting back
to the Kansas City Chiefs, that's what they do. They're
very innovative. But the more impressive thing is how great
their offensive line is playing right now. You look at
Hunt comes in and gets one hundred yards a touchdown.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
You just miss Schusters stuck.

Speaker 5 (29:29):
Hundred and something yards and a touchdown. And that's what
having continuity with the offensive line, quarterback and that one
skill position.

Speaker 2 (29:39):
Player Travis does.

Speaker 5 (29:42):
It shows everyone else like, hey, guys, you need to
get on the speed of us because this is how
we play.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
We need juju.

Speaker 5 (29:50):
You need to make a play on a third down
for us when they got four guys on all you do.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
That's all you have to do Hunt, first and second down.

Speaker 5 (29:56):
You need to get us three to six yards, get
us four yards a run, get us four yards a run,
keep us in third and manageable so we don't have
to do our little trick pass where Travis is doing
a third and seventeen throw lateral play Like that's what
it's so impressive watching them. There's such a complimentary football
team too, and their defense is playing lights.

Speaker 2 (30:15):
Out beach Beach, Brett Beach Beach.

Speaker 5 (30:20):
I mean you gotta tip your You gotta tip your
cap to him and Andy Reid being on such a
cohesive page of developing their players and building their team
through the draft.

Speaker 1 (30:31):
Okay, bo Nick, Sean Payton had an incident, Brady Bill
O'Brien had an incident. When it happens and you're close
to it, is it odd? Do you go buddy up
to Tom? If you saw Tom go nuts on a
coach and you're like three players away, do you say anything?

Speaker 5 (30:50):
You don't touch the smoking gun. You just don't touch
a smoking gun. You go back and you sit on
the bench and you look at your buddy and you say,
you see that, that's.

Speaker 2 (30:59):
What we used to do.

Speaker 5 (31:00):
Uh, But you don't, nah, because we all knew, you know,
Brady played better pissed off, and that was then he
liked that. I liked it with Sean Payton and Boonicks
because I mean, we saw a lot of this last
year with Russell and we never saw Russell bark back,
you know, And I think that specific situation, right, Billo.

Speaker 3 (31:24):
Look at Brady, he is ticked off.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
Taekwon oh Man, look at that.

Speaker 1 (31:28):
He is throwing dishes. Oh yeah, that kitchen is getting
there's a chatty.

Speaker 5 (31:33):
Oh trying to back them up, Phil, it's a shot
up like that's funny, there's gronk.

Speaker 2 (31:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (31:40):
But when that happens, you you kind of let the
player and the coach who's that that's going with you,
let them handle that. But to go back to Denver
and Bow and Peyton, you know, I don't know Peyton
that well.

Speaker 2 (31:53):
I've we've crossed pass here and.

Speaker 5 (31:55):
I like him a lot very I think, you know,
he's a he's an alpha guy, and he gets turned
on when a guy does that to him, especially if
if the kid came out and corrected, which i I
I guarantee bo Nix doesn't look like a guy that's gonna.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
Argue something that's wrong.

Speaker 5 (32:12):
It was probably a coaching point that you know, Sean
said to him, and he goes, well.

Speaker 3 (32:17):
This is what you said, Well look at the coach Nicks.

Speaker 5 (32:21):
And you know, and that's that's where that's where it goes,
you know, and and sometimes you need a little bit
that that's a that's a growing up step for a
young quarterback. If he's right, if he's right, if he's
going to go do that on something that has nothing
to do with the team or has nothing to do
with you know, if it has something to do with
his individual performance or of individual play calling thing that

(32:43):
like that.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
I don't think that's okay.

Speaker 5 (32:45):
But it didn't seem like bow Knicks had a malicious intent.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
He was probably like territory defending.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
Drew Brees came on the show and said, Shawn's very
particular on stuff run the short side. He gets certain
hashta angles. Yeah, like he gets very particular. And what
bo Nick is saying is probably, yeah, we did it right,
you know. Yeah hit defending his turf.

Speaker 3 (33:11):
I get it. That Brady video is intense.

Speaker 5 (33:14):
Yeah, that was That was a fun time. And we
were in Washington, d C. Or was it DC that
was against DC the former Redskins now the Commanders.

Speaker 3 (33:26):
Yeah, and you remember the game.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
Oh I was playing defense. I was playing defense on
that game, I believe.

Speaker 3 (33:32):
Really Yeah, it was really any good. I don't remember.
Yes I was sack or a pick or anything.

Speaker 2 (33:37):
I had a couple.

Speaker 5 (33:38):
You know, I'm jam guys the line of scrimmage and
hold him for as long as I could for five yards.

Speaker 3 (33:44):
Awesome, Great see anybody, Great to see you guys.

Speaker 1 (33:56):
I always have a rule on the show Information New opinion.
I don't get embedded in stuff. New information, New opinion.
I just had to eliminate one of my picks. I
had the Giants plus three and a half. It's out,
Malik Neighbors is out. Cincinnati's gonna score some points, and
you gotta score points. I thought Molik Neighbors I was
gonna do a DraftKings thing. I thought Malik was gonna

(34:18):
have a really, really, really.

Speaker 3 (34:20):
Big game night for the Giants. He's out. I don't
It's not a good bet anymore.

Speaker 1 (34:25):
They don't have the firepower to match up. Cincinnati's gonna
score some points. And New York I thought was gonna
score more points. But I took that one out, so
I got four, not five. New information, New opinion. Here's
our blazing five.

Speaker 4 (34:39):
Let's blaze it up, Fired it up. It's Collins Blazon,
Fuck Cardinals, ad Packer.

Speaker 1 (34:45):
I really like Green Bay minus five and a half.
Romeo Dobbs, Christian Watson returning, so they're getting healthy. They
lead the NFL in big plays, and a couple of
their big play guys are back Jordan Love multiple touchdown
passes in seven straight games, tied for the longest streak
believe it or not in the NFL. Listen, the Cardinals
get off the bad starts. They've trailed by at least

(35:08):
ten plus points at halftime in three straight games, and
their third down defense is horrible.

Speaker 3 (35:13):
What does that mean?

Speaker 1 (35:14):
I love Arizona's offense, but they're gonna trail and they're
gonna struggle to keep green Bay off the field. The
Packers offense this season, even with Malik Willis Jordan Love,
has been substantial, So I think a Green Bay team
getting healthy at home takes a lead, keeps Kyler Murray
in that offense on the bench. I like the Packers
to win and cover thirty three to twenty four, Charger

(35:37):
said Broncos. I don't think Denver's good enough to win
four straight games. I'm gonna take the Chargers off a
bye week. They have both their tackles back minus three,
so they're getting healthier. It's an offensive coach and a
good quarterback in a bye week they get Derwin James
off suspension. Two Harbaugh against rookie quarterbacks has eaten them alive.
They complete fifty seven percent of their throws. And by

(36:00):
the way, bo Nicks is young. And if you look
at the Chargers defense this season again, it's been really good,
outstanding the Broncos. Three straight wins have been over the Raiders, Jets,
and Bucks. They're averaging one point four points per drive.
That's twenty ninth in the NFL. I'm going to take
the Chargers to win that football game twenty seven to twenty.

Speaker 3 (36:23):
I will eat the points, Lions and Cowboys again.

Speaker 1 (36:28):
I'm gonna take Detroit coming off a bye with Ben
Johnson and Jared Goff well balanced on offense, they run
and passed. Goff over the last two games is completing
eighty eight percent of his throws. That's because PFF has
their O line is number two. I think it's number one.
Aiden Hutchison outside of Fred Warners, the highest reded defensive
player in the league. He is just a monster. And

(36:51):
the Cowboys since Week two, they're averaging twenty one points
a game.

Speaker 3 (36:54):
They're a bb gun. They're games. This is a really
big thing.

Speaker 1 (36:58):
Dallas is coming off three straight physical games. Think about this,
Steelers Giants in Baltimore, big physical games, and their three
wins have been against Justin Fields, Daniel Jones and Deshaun Watson.
This is a total step up in class for the Cowboys,

(37:18):
who can't run the football and don't stop it particularly well.
And the Lions have a great o line in two backs.
I like, I'm gonna say the Lions win and cover
thirty four to twenty eight on love and the favorites
Bills and Jets. Except here, I like the Bills to win.
I'm gonna take the points with the Jets plus two
and a half. It's weird when teams get interim coaches.

(37:41):
It's a division rival. Three of the last four meetings
decided by one possession. By the way, the Jets losses
have been to Minnesota, maybe the best team in the league,
and the Broncos a chance a game they should have won,
and their defense is allowing fewer yards per play than
any other team in the league. Meanwhile, Bills have sixteen

(38:02):
players on the Thursday injury report. Josh Allen is reeling
his last four games against the Jets. As Jmac noted
this week, have not been good seventy four passer rating,
and we got to be honest about the Jets defense.

Speaker 3 (38:15):
It's outstanding.

Speaker 1 (38:16):
It completely shut down Minnesota in the second half. I
think this is a low scoring, close game. I'm gonna
take the points. I think it's a thrilling game. I'm
gonna take the Bills to win twenty four to twenty three,
but I will take the points with the Jets. That's
my Blazing four. I took out the Giants game. Molik
neighbors out, I'm not rolling if I had a fifth game.

(38:40):
There's two I think are interesting. I think Philadelphia, although
I didn't want to take another favorite. I don't like
big favorites. I think Philadelphia couldn't mash Cleveland. I like
Chicago against Jacksonville, although teams that go to overseas on
a regular basis generally do well, so I don't think
it's good enough to put in the Blazing five. But

(39:00):
I do think Chicago's gonna win and Philadelphia is gonna win.
It's it's a rare week where I like favorites a
lot of favorites. The Giants was a dog. I had
to take that one out once Malik neighbors got hurt,
