Speaker 2 (00:19):
This is the Best of the Herd with Colin cowher
on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
All Right, here we go. It is a Friday, and
we are ready to roll blazing five of a winning
week in one hour, live in Los Angeles. It's the Herd.
Wherever you may be and however you may be listening.
Thanks for making us part of your day. Jmac had
a lot of stuff moving last night. Dramatic loss to
the Yankees, no drama in the Dodgers, Sean Payton's homecoming. Wow,
(00:52):
that wasn't competitive. That guy can coach. Are you ready
for a Friday show? I think we called that Denver.
This is giving out money on the show. I am Denver.
Was a layup folks. Hope you got it, did well?
Let's start with this. You do not need to be
a baseball savant to see that the Dodgers have really
(01:13):
really great players, and the Mets, with maybe one exception,
have good players. This series is over, well, not officially,
it will be today. It is a complete and utter
talent mismatch. Nine eight nothing, ten to two. Hey, we're
doing it last night without Freddie Freeman, no Biggie, Hey,
Mooky Betts go get four hits. The Dodgers scored ten
(01:36):
runs last night and still left twelve runners on. The
Mets are struggling to get them out. It's the Avengers
against the romantic comedy. It's not the same economy. The Dodgers'
last six playoff games thirty one plus thirty one run differential.
And again that's without an entire starting rotation on the
(01:58):
shelf and an entire bl on the shelf. But the
Dodgers are also a great reminder and a great life
lesson for sports and life. Even the most talented, even
the biggest payroll, will have obstacles to overcome. I mean,
Tom Brady severed his throwing hand before a playoff game,
(02:20):
Michael Jordan, the flu game, Patrick Mahomes back to back
Super Bowls with a kind of weak wide receiver corp.
Even the greats have obstacles, but they overcome them. That's
why they're the greats. The Dodgers are a classic example.
Forget all the pitching injuries. They lost their shortstop against
(02:41):
the Podres another injury, so they take their center field
or Tommy Edmonds, Hey can you go play short Yeah,
you bet. He's hitting four to twelve. And then they
have Key k Hernandez, who was on the playoff roster.
They said, hey, can you go play center field? Okay,
I'll do that. He's hitting three point fifty three. Everything
is working their trades, work their minor league system, calling
(03:04):
up the occasional player, works injuries. They're fine. I mean
Key a Hernandez was not even really scheduled to play
much in the playoffs, and he now has fifteen postseason
home runs. That's one. I think that's one behind Aaron Judge. Okay,
So I mean, good luck to the Yankees the Mets.
It's it's over, don't they can't compete? Oh, I forgot
(03:28):
Max Muncy. He's gotten on base twelve consecutive at bats.
I mean, this is nothing the Mets can do about it.
Francisco Lindor, great player, and a bunch of good players.
I mean the backups for the Dodgers, guys that were
on the playoff roster not scheduled to play are hitting
(03:48):
three point fifty. Center fielders moved as short you think
they'd be a bit distracted. Now I'll I'll hit four
to twelve with a bunch of RBIs. Here's Dave Roberts after.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
I love the way that our guys haven't let off
the gas. We don't want to give these guys any momentum,
and we feel good. We got some momentum, and we
got to continue to come out, you know, with some
intent tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Yeah, three to one lead one of their races going today,
it feels like it's over. So the Denver Broncos hammered
the Saints in New Orleans thirty three to ten. It
didn't even feel that close. And this was Sean Payton,
who years and years and years ago, two thousand and six,
(04:36):
Sean Payton took over a team that was so bad
in New Orleans they were called the Aints. Fans were
like garbage bags over their head. You saw it for
years and years and years. And Sean Payton first year,
he didn't have all the dead cap money, but he
squeezed every ounce of talent out of that team got
them too the playoffs, double digit winning team. This is
(04:57):
what the great coaches do, and Sean Payton's one of them. Now,
the Denver Broncos are not a great roster. Vegas had
him at five and a half wins. I said, I
think they're seven or eight just because of Sean Payton's coaching.
He will squeeze every bit of juice and pulp out
of this orange. So when you go on the road
like the Broncos did on a short week with a
(05:18):
rookie quarterback that didn't play well and win by three touchdowns,
that's coaching. Dennis Allen maybe the worst coach in the league.
Sean Payton once again takes a dead franchise Broncos were
a dead franchise and has squeezed every ounce of talent
out of them. And again, an offensive coach. We've been
done this now for multiple years. This is why I
(05:41):
would always prefer to get an offensive coach. I've seen
Andy Reid do this twice. I've seen Sean McVay do this,
and now I've seen Sean Payton do this. This offensive
line when he took it over, was a bit of
a mess. Just after last year they were twelve. I'm
watching that Bronco o line this year guard center guard.
It feels like a top three or four in the league,
(06:01):
at least guard center guard. They are running the football.
Last night was a great example. They come out with
bow knicks. Bon Nick's mechanics are all messed up. That
was always a concern. He didn't have a big arm,
very mobile, smart kid. His mechanics aren't great. He tends
to run more than he should. He's very athletic, but
his feet and his mechanics are a mess. Right now,
Sean Payton very clearly early says, yeah, this thing is
(06:22):
going to work. We're gonna shorten the routes, We're gonna
run the football. And that's exactly what they did. And
remember where Sean Peyton learned all these tricks. Who is
his mentor? Bill Parcells? Urban Meyer in college and Bill
Parcells in the NFL are the great quick rebuilders. Urban
did it a bowling Green and Utah and Florida and
(06:45):
Ohio State like one year, awful to good. Bill Parcells
did it multiple times in his career. Bill par sells
he was the mentor for Sean Payton. So Seawan is
much better than most coaches when it comes to personnel
in the draft. He's very good at it. A lot
of coaches aren't a lot of coaches aren't good at that,
Like Andy Reid just I'm not going to do that,
(07:06):
and he could be good at it, didn't want to
do it. Play design, play creation, play calling, that's what
he does. Spags you new Defense, Brett Vitch, you do
the drafting. Sean Payton can get his hands dirty a
little bit in the personnel and he's good at it.
But I mean bo Nix was not playing well and
nobody turns a mess around quicker. And I want to
tell you how big of a mess Denver is. They
still have seventy eight million dollars in dead cap money
(07:29):
this year. They will still be paying Russell Wilson thirty
two million dollars next year into disaster job. And yet
they're at four wins Vegas, Adham at five and a half.
I thought it was seven or eight. So this, and
I mean, this is as bad as it gets financially.
(07:51):
What's ironic is the Saints now are in cap hell
for the next several years. Too bad they can't hire
Sean Payton back. But if you look at Denver right now.
They got some winnable games, and there's gonna be games
like at Baltimore, at Kansas City they're going to lose,
but they've got to Carolina, Atlanta at home, Raiders, Cleveland
Colts at home. They're gonna end up winning seven or
(08:13):
eight games. And it's gonna be one of the great
coaching jobs in the league. It really is. I know,
Coach of the Year goes to somebody within twelve, thirteen,
fourteen games, give it to John Harbor, Andy Reid. Now,
But what Sean Payton is doing. I mean, remember Vegas
had two teams at five, five and a half wins,
Carolina and Denver. Denver's already got on the road, thrashed
(08:35):
the Saints, beaten Aaron Rodgers on the road, and I
see at least five more potential do ws. They're not
gonna go to Baltimore and beat the Ravens. That thing's
gonna get ugly. They're not gonna go to Kansas City
and beat Mahomes. I don't know if it'll be ugly.
That's a tough that's a tough w to grab. But
here's Sean Payton on a dominating homecoming win against his
(08:56):
former team he rebuilt.
Speaker 4 (08:58):
I was proud of our players, you know, are they
just a short played well? And it's not often you
get to do something like this, and uh yeah, I
think it was more at the end where I felt
the emotion.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Yeah, that that was. That was a coaching mismatch. The
Dodgers match is a talent mismatch. And the Broncos and
the Saints, that was a coaching mismatch. One hour from
now Blazing five, former Bronco Emmanuel Sanders stops by. We
love having him on the show. J Mac. That Yankee
Yankee game, Oh my, but you know what, New York's
(09:38):
gonna win. They're gonna win the series. But it was
a magical moment.
Speaker 5 (09:42):
Eh.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
Well, I'll just say this.
Speaker 6 (09:44):
The baseball postseason like the drama. The it just pops
off the television seeing that home run, the guy chucks
the bat. Listen, I'm not a Guardians fan at all,
a Yankees fan. It was one of like you got
goosebumps when you watch it.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
Of course, just it's like, oh my, you didn't have
to be a Cubs fan to get the Cub World Series, right,
You didn't have to be a fan to understand that.
I mean, you didn't have to be a college football
fan to see the journey horribad been on for years
getting beat by Ohio State and the Connor Stallion stuff
and the controversy and go, wow, this this feels like
this is this is goosebumps for Jim Harbord, Michigan football.
(10:23):
Last night for the Guardians. The American League Central historically
does not do well against the Yankees in their big payroll,
but that was a magical moment. You'll talk about that
coming up. Plus Troy Aikman. You know when a former
Cowboy great calls the Cowboys lazy. Mike McCarthy's in trouble.
We'll talk about that next.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and noon eastern non am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio

Speaker 1 (10:50):
Let's not waste any time. The Blazing Five.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
Let's blaze it up, Fired Up. It's Collins, Blazing Fox
versus Jaguars.
Speaker 1 (11:01):
Favorites win in London. Jaguars second straight week staying in London.
Trevor Lawrence's last three games, he's been good. One hundred
and one passer rating sixty eight percent completion percentage. The
Patriots are a mess. They're projected to start their seventh
different offensive line. Ramandre Stevenson may not play their starback,
(11:22):
their thirty first ranked in scoring, worst ranked offensive line
in the league. Turnovers are coming a plenty. This team
is falling apart. Jacksonville's coaching staff is desperate for a win,
massive advantage at quarterback. Jacksonville favorites do well overseas, especially
(11:43):
favorites who have played there before. Jags win and cover
twenty seven to twenty. Lions at Vikings, Okay. Vikings offensive
coach off of Bye rested I like Minnesota, lay the
one and a half three to zero at home, only
team to cover every game, but their defense has been
(12:06):
equally impressive. They've held opponents under twenty points in four
or five games. They're the only team to not allow
a touchdown outside of the red zone. This is Brian Flores.
You get nothing cheap. It's very new England Patriots in
their prime nothing cheap. Yes, the Lions are on a
three game winning streak, but they face three of the
(12:27):
worst defenses or most banged up defenses in Seattle, the
Cowboys and the Cardinals take a deep breath. Aiden Hutchison
not playing Carlton Davis. Their corner hasn't practiced this week,
so the pass rush significantly less. A top corner is out.
Minnesota up a bye this season. They are first in
(12:49):
a lot of categories. I don't consider it an upset.
The Vikings win sees control of the division. Twenty eight
to twenty.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
Four Seahawks at Felkands.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
The Seahawks defense is now officially healthy. Byron Murphy, the
great defensive tackle from Texas, will play. Boyd Mafi will play,
So their defense they got a banged up corner. One
practice one didn't. But their three game losing streak has
come against teams like the Lions and the Niners. Okay,
(13:22):
they're a good team potentially. Remember their offense has the
highest passing rate in the league. Can they throw against Atlanta?
Of course they can, because Atlanta has no pass rush.
The Falcons are on pace to have the lowest sack rate,
second host sac rate in league history. So Seattle's defensive
front Mike McDonald has all the bigs upfront. Defensively, Gino
(13:45):
Smith will have time to throw and I'm getting three points.
Remember I like Atlanta. I do, but if you look
at them, a couple of their wins have been over
the Saints. They're dead and the Panthers worse. I think
the value is on a healthier Seattle team on the road.
Here Seahawks upset the Falcons twenty seven to twenty four.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
Raiders and Rams.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
So I locked in this line on Monday. This was
my best pick. It was Rams minus five, I said
Monday on this show, I'm taking this to blazing five.
I said it five times. I don't care what the
number is now it is five. They're getting Cooper Cup,
Rob Havenstein, the right tackle, a Jordan Whittingham at wide receiver.
They're getting healthier, and Stafford's been very good at home
(14:32):
in four or five home games this year. He's been
one hundred plus passer rating. Kyron Williams eight straight games
rushing touchdown. So I like the Rams when they get
healthy offensively. The Raiders only win. Okay, they've lost three
or four games. The only win in that stretch is
the Browns. Ad and O'Connell no scrambles, four hundred and
forty dropbacks and totally immobile quarterback with a sixty two
(14:53):
percent completion percentage. They can't defend the run. They are
all banged up across the board, and now Devonte Adams
has gone Rams win pull away in the second half
twenty four to fourteen. I'm taking five. I announced it.
I declared it on Monday.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
Jet said Steelers, Okay.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
This was another game I liked early in the week.
We waited on the line. I'm gonna take the Jets
minus one and a half. First of all, they should
have beaten Buffalo. They're the best two to four team
in the league. They had a season high in motion
in their offense when they replaced net Hackett, so they
looked like a modern progressive offense. First game. Now with
a Devonte Adams, he'll probably have some red zone opportunities.
(15:38):
Their defense is great. Their pass defense is sensational. They
have the best corner combo in the league. Against the
team offensively that struggles, Pittsburgh's lost two to three games.
They only win recently was Aid and O'Connell. You know,
the Purdue kid doesn't move pocket guy sitting duck against
the Jets pass rush. They can't run the ball effectively.
The passing offense is the Pits. I think it's an
(16:00):
inspired Jets team getting Devonte Adams, which increases and improves
Aaron Rodgers' mood. I think they should have eaten Buffalo,
but not for Taylor Rapp and Jaron Johnson making the
interception of the year. They beat Buffalo if they had
a field goal kicker who can make kicks. They beat
a very good Buffalo team. You're getting major value here
with an offense in Pittsburgh that doesn't know what they're doing.
(16:21):
Jets win twenty seven to twenty lay the points. So
that's four favorites, you know, let's see four favorites. Yeah,
four favorites in the Seahawks. I last week I went
favorites as well. I think in most of these games,
I'm taking at least decent quarterback play and value. I
(16:43):
know in the Seahawks game, you're worried, but Atlanta is
one of those teams. Sometimes you have a winning record
and you're not as good as your record. Sometimes the Jets,
you have a losing record, you're much better than your record.
The Jets feel four and two, the steel Field two
and four, and I only have to lay a point
and a half and I get Aaron Rodgers over whoever
(17:06):
they play at quarterback.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
One More Heard the Herd streams twenty four hours a day,

Speaker 1 (17:17):
He played with the Denver Broncos who won last night.
He played under Sean Payton years ago. He's Emmanuel Sanders,
a regular on our show, a two time Pro Bowl receiver,
over a decade in the league, in a Super Bowl
champ with those Broncos not long ago. So you played
under Shawn in New Orleans. He's outspoken, he's raw, he
(17:38):
doesn't suffer fools gladly. He's intense. But I'll tell you
Denver with their cap situation of manual this year and
next is a bit of a mess. And he's he
looks like he's squeezing everything out of the orange he can.
What's his secret? When you played for him? Well, if
I didn't ever watch Sean, what's his secret?
Speaker 7 (17:58):
I mean? For me, Sean's a winner.
Speaker 8 (18:00):
You know.
Speaker 5 (18:00):
When I went to New Orleans, obviously we had Drew
over there, but I mean every single game was like
Sean was ahead of defensive coordinator. I mean, he's as
smart as they come. He's seen a lot of football,
and he knows how to get his players to play.
He brings the best out of his players. I remember
when I was in New Orleans that was during COVID.
I mean we had myself was out, Mike Thomas was out.
We had so many guys that are out, but yet
(18:23):
they were still going and still winning. And it's just
a testament to Sean and his coaching and how he
gets guys to play. I mean, right now, you see
what he's doing with a rookie quarterback. Yeah, I mean
he has both knicks playing well. I mean well enough
to win games, and I mean he's.
Speaker 7 (18:38):
Doing it, and I'm excited. You know, when we picked
up Sean.
Speaker 5 (18:41):
You know, I'm still living out here in different When
we picked him up, I was ecstatic about it because
I knew that we now had a coach who could
go into the AFC West versus Andy Reid, and we
got harpball in the AFC West, and we're gonna be
able to compete, and I hope we do. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
Vegas had him at five wins and they're already at four.
So I'm happy for my friend Sewn Peyton. You also
are a teammate of Josh Allen about four years ago.
So they add Amari Cooper. And what I like about
this is, I think Buffalo's good organization. He is a
smart veteran who runs good routes. I don't think they
need an over the top guy. What they need here
(19:17):
is nine targets and six catches and good on third down.
You take your takeaway on what Amar Cooper provides as
a veteran receiver for Josh.
Speaker 7 (19:27):
Yeah, I think this was a great pick up.
Speaker 5 (19:29):
You know, Mario the past few years have had a
thousand yards season with the Browns. I mean, five time
Pro bowler. If you go back you watch the Jets game.
You see when the Jets played man and man, it
was kind of hard for guys to create separation. So
you bring in a guy Mario I still remember with
the Cowboys and how he run his routes.
Speaker 7 (19:48):
I think he's similar to a guy like Davante Adams is.
Speaker 5 (19:51):
If you come up and press me, you better have
your mind right to come up with. I'm about to
give you some sauce that you probably can't handle.
Speaker 7 (19:59):
Yeah, you know, and.
Speaker 5 (20:00):
Have a guy like that in the locker room, it's
just awesome for Josh who he knows if you want
to play ass man and man, I know I can
go to this guy. But not only that, they got
a young receiver Correps over there in Buffalo. So to
bring somebody in and has some success, bit to the
Pro Bowl, half thousand yard seasons, somebody for those young
guys to look at it and be like, Okay, this
(20:21):
is how he's supposed to do. This is how you're
supposed to do it, and that's how you become a
veteran and a professional.
Speaker 7 (20:26):
So I think it was a great pick for sure
for Buffalo.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
Now, how much can we expect because Aaron, unlike Amari
and Josh, Aaron and Davonte have played together. They got
the back shoulder timing down. How many practices, how many
games do you need before you believe Davante is a
real weapon for the Jets.
Speaker 5 (20:47):
I think it's gonna be a set because at the
end of the day, DeVante is a route runner, and
only that he's a guy who can create separation. And
in the a's of the Football League, the difference to
high school and the National Fotball League of separation, the
margin might be this big.
Speaker 7 (21:03):
Right in high school. But in the National Football League,
it's this big.
Speaker 5 (21:07):
What's the problem with a guy like Davante is is
this gonna be this big? And then you've got a
quarterback like Aaron Rodgers's gonna put the ball here. So
I think it's gonna be all predicated on the play calling, honestly,
in terms of what routes he's comfortable with and putting
him in those positions for him to succeed. But I
think he's gonna have instant success. Now the problem is
they're playing against the Steelers and that defense is stout,
(21:30):
So it's gonna be interesting.
Speaker 7 (21:31):
But I'm actually looking forward to see it to see.
Speaker 5 (21:33):
If they can still have that same chemistry that they
had in Green Bay, because it'll be awesome to see.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
Speaking of the Steelers, Mike Tomlin obviously drafting, developing defense,
that's what the Steelers do. But you know, Big Ben
leaves Pittsburgh, Brady leaves New England, and those defensive cultures
they're lost at sea. They're trying. It's Trubisky, Mason, Rudolph Russell, Wilson,
justin Fields. I mean, they're trying. They're bailing water. Are
(22:00):
you do you like Justin's foreign too, and they're replacing him.
Now he may not be all this, but do you
like that mover would just stick with the kid.
Speaker 5 (22:12):
You know and playing for the Stillers the planet of
Mike tom Uh And I remember when Justin Filds came
out here. I went to the game when they played
against the Broncos, and I remember talking to uh several
guys on the staff and telling how much I love
Justin Fields and how he plays and how he can
extend plays with his legs and and not only that,
(22:33):
like just how he how he plays.
Speaker 7 (22:35):
Like I'm a fan of how Justin Fields plays.
Speaker 5 (22:38):
But when I think about Mike Tomlin and what he's
built on, He's built on leadership. And there's not a
coach that I can remember who who had more leadership
than Mike Toomland in the way that he led. And
so when I think about that situation, I think, what
what is the what is the reason behind.
Speaker 7 (22:58):
You know, even a battle with Russell Wilson and coming
and replace Justin.
Speaker 5 (23:02):
Fields, And you know, for some reason, I kept going
back to leadership. Now I know Russell, and Russell is
the ultimate leader as well. He's gonna get those guys
going and from that standpoint, so it'll be interesting to
see how that how that situation plays out.
Speaker 7 (23:17):
But also I know Mike Tomlan wants to win the
Super Bowl, So.
Speaker 5 (23:20):
Sometimes I sit back and say, who gives the Stellers
a better chance at winning a Super Bowl as well?
Speaker 7 (23:25):
Because they have a top ranked defense.
Speaker 5 (23:27):
Now they need a signal caller who's who's probably been
there before, done that before, probably won't Pinnick in those situations,
and I kind of lean more towards Russell Wilson, but
towards the future of the Stellers now lean more towards
justin Field.
Speaker 7 (23:39):
So I mean, it's an interesting situation.
Speaker 5 (23:41):
But I think Mike Mike Tomlin, when me and Antonio
Brown was there, he says, I got.
Speaker 7 (23:45):
Two dogs and one bone. I got two dogs in
one bowl.
Speaker 5 (23:49):
And then it's crazy how it's interesting how he's in
that same situation in terms of he got two he
got two dogs, but he only got one ball to
one starting spot.
Speaker 7 (23:57):
So he's trying to figure out.
Speaker 5 (23:58):
Who who fits that, who fift that position best for
this year's team.
Speaker 7 (24:02):
And I think that.
Speaker 5 (24:03):
He's gonna do what he has to do in order
in order to figure it out in order to try
to win a super Bowl, not just win or have
a winning season, to try to put out the best
super Bowl team.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
So Troy Aikman was highly critical of Ceedee Lamb in
the entire Dallas Receiving Corps. Let's listen to this sound.
Speaker 8 (24:23):
I think the routes are terrible. I think they run
terrible routes, and and I thought that beyond this year,
and I think Ceed's got to improve and his route running.
And as a quarterback, if you're not certain where guys
are going to be consistently, it's hard. It's hard to
play the position. I see guys lazy coming off the
line of scrimmage. Sometimes they sometimes they run. Usually if
(24:46):
they do, it's because they're anticipating they're going to get
the football in that play. But if they're not, they don't.
And it all ties together. And so I'm not impressed
with that part of it.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
So who's to blame now, I mean, listen, there's a reason.
I get it. It's a long season. Guys gonna have
bad practices, But when you get to Sunday, you got
to tighten up the screws. If you're running bad routes,
knowing it's gonna be on the film session on Monday.
Isn't that a McCarthy issue. The head coach is Shoe.
Speaker 7 (25:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (25:15):
You know, when I listened to Troy words, he said,
he said, guys are being lazy, but the only.
Speaker 7 (25:22):
Time I see him really running hard is when they're
getting the ball.
Speaker 5 (25:26):
Yeah, And you know, I've had I've had the I've
been blessed to play on three Super Bowl teams, and
I remember playing with Peyton, and Peyton was huge on
if you're not getting the ball, still running the route
full speed just because you don't want to give anything
away or you never know I might come to you
because you might be the second read.
Speaker 7 (25:44):
So that's what Troy is seeing.
Speaker 5 (25:45):
Then that's just absolutely laziness. And and it goes the
same thing in the run game. And when I look
at at this Cowboys team, I mean they got they
got to get their run game together as well.
Speaker 7 (25:55):
It all ties in, It all ties in together.
Speaker 5 (25:58):
So if guys are being late and not running off
the ball because they're not getting the ball, I'm pretty
sure that they're probably not blocking in the run game
as well.
Speaker 7 (26:06):
And so that's a mindset from.
Speaker 5 (26:08):
The head coach one hundred and when when I look
at this Cowboys team, I feel like everybody's kind of
a panic mode. But they're three and three right now,
they have a buy and then they have the Niners.
Speaker 7 (26:18):
But I think that that's just the attitude adjustment.
Speaker 5 (26:22):
That has to be be be said throughout the team
in terms of let's get our damn minds together, let's
go out and play some real football, and let's not
be lazy, and let's let's go hard every single play.
Speaker 7 (26:33):
I mean, when I proached the game, I had eighty plays.
Speaker 5 (26:35):
I said, all of those eighty plays, I'm gonna do
a full speed balls to the wall.
Speaker 7 (26:38):
And that's just how I'm gonna play the game.
Speaker 5 (26:40):
And so I think it's an attitude adjustment that they
have to make within the Cowboys organization if they want
to get where.
Speaker 7 (26:46):
They want to be.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
I think it's interesting you mentioned that if guys are
lazy on their routes, as you said, Emmanuel, they're probably
not blocking on the run. So what I mean the
routes is for them, the runnings are sacrifice. So that's
a real issue and that's why they can't run the football. Finally,
you played under Kyle Shanahan. He has struggled with Andy Reid.
Many believe that Kyle's got the better players, but you know,
(27:11):
Andy Reid Mahomes figure this out. I kind of like,
even though the Chiefs are on a buy, I kind
of like San Francisco this weekend. Do you believe as
much as they've won that that that Kansas City stuff
hangs over their head? You were in this culture for
a year or do you think it's just every game
is different or could you kind of sense Kansas City
is different?
Speaker 8 (27:32):
Look?
Speaker 5 (27:33):
I mean, I've been retired for two years, and I
still have feelings towards towards Pats Mahomes and the Chiefs,
just because they beat us in the Super Bowl. So
I know that Kyle's still thinking, like, man, we got
to get these guys, and why not get.
Speaker 7 (27:48):
Him twice this year?
Speaker 5 (27:49):
If we see him again in the super Bowl, we
got to get him again in the regular season, just
to get that nasty taste out of our mouth and
and and to believe that we can't run with these.
Speaker 7 (27:57):
Guys and we can't beat these guys.
Speaker 5 (27:59):
And I got a feel that's gonna always a sour
taste is always gonna be h you know, in Kyle's mouth,
you know what I mean, in terrors of you know,
Andy Reid beating him twice in the Super Bowl. But
I mean this, this this week is definitely personal, and
I'll be room for the Niners as well, even though
I love Patrick Mahomes and sometimes I find myself hating
on him because he is so good, kind of like
(28:20):
the whole Time Brady situation. But you know, I love
watching him play. But at the same time, man, I
want to see the Niners take him down. Yep.
Speaker 1 (28:27):
Emmanuel Sanders, two time pro bowler, twelve years in this league.
It's a Friday. Good seeing your buddy as always. I
appreciate it.
Speaker 7 (28:34):
Good seeing you as well, Collin, take care with all right.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
I mean he said he's been under Kyle Shanahan, he's
been under Mike Tomlin, he's been under Sean Payton. It's
really amazing what Denver's doing. I mean, they bow Nicks
did not play well last night. His mechanics are a
bit of a mess, and that was always the question.
He didn't have a big arm, really athletic accurate, but
last night his accuracy, I mean, they had they shortened routes,
(28:57):
he had a couple of bad, bad misses, one in
the red zone. One read through between one receiver and
before another. It was like comically bad. So they'll get
that worked out. But I love the ability of Peyton
to a sense quarterbacks feet. He's nervous, he's got anxious feet.
Let's run the ball, shorten the routes. That's what great
coaching does.
