This is the Best of the Herd with Colin cowher
on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
Here we go on a Wednesday midweek, ready to roll.
Dodgers decided to be kind and thoughtful, give the Yankees
a night to rejoice live in Los Angeles. It's the Herd.
Wherever you may be and however you may be watching
or listening. Thanks for making us part of your day.
Jamack Joel Klatt one hour from now Ohio State penn
(00:50):
State gonna be one of the games of the year
in college football out in Pennsylvania, which is a very
important dues state these days. Couldn't decide a lot of things.
It used to be that the Yankees were such a
proud franchise. I mean, all they do now is beat
the American League Central in the playoffs, right, Like, that's
what they do. Take out those wins and they're like
(01:10):
way or five hundred. But it used to be like
at least Yankee fans were knowledgeable and had some self awareness.
They're all getting fired up off last night and they're
just getting played, And so we start with that. Yes,
the Yankees won eleven to four. What a night. They
trail now three to one in the series. There's three
(01:33):
games left and a tow are in La. The guy
that started for the Dodgers is only the second pitcher
ever to make his first start in the World Series.
The Dodgers punted last night. It's called strategy. You'll see
even great tennis players in a Grand Slam event to
conserve energy, get down in a game or a set,
(01:55):
and just punt it for the next set. You get
down five to one, punt, you know, to get to
the next set. That's all the Dodgers did. That's why
what Dave Roberts is doing is very shrewd. He's not
just managing the Dodgers, he's managing resources. They don't have
any pitchers, and the ones they do are really good.
I mean Walker Buehler. If that's the new Walker Buehler,
(02:18):
this series is over. I mean Yamamoto Flaherty We know
those guys are good. We know the top relievers are good.
That's the pod raives Mets and the Dodgers pod raise Mets,
excuse me, and the Yankees. But O last night was
was strategy. It was basically, you know, it's like it's
like chess. The Yankees got a pawn last night. They
didn't get a queen. That's all that happened. I mean,
(02:40):
do you really think the bottom seven, eight, nine hitters
in your lineup in New York are now gonna get
red hot? It's great that Austin Wells crushed. He's still
only hitting a buck thirty in the series. Aaron Judge
can't hit. The best relievers for the Dodgers are better
than the best relievers for the Yankee and the best
(03:01):
hitters for the Dodgers are better than the best hitters
for the Yankees. The Yankees got seven runs out of
their seven, eight and nine hitters. You got a pawn.
It's strategy. It's conserving energy. I mean, Dave, I mean,
Aaron Judge is still hitting a buck fifty two. Freddie
Freeman is still on fire. The best pitchers for the Yankees,
(03:25):
Garrett cole goes, there's your shot, but then you're heading
back to LA even if the Yankees win tonight. So
it's one of those things like Yankee fans, Hello, do
you see what's going on? We said yesterday on this show.
Yankees is gonna win this thing. It's a bullpen session.
And by the way, Dodgers get a lead, they're like, eh,
we may wrap this puppy up. But by the time
(03:47):
the Yankees hit the Grand Slam, it's like, all right,
empty the bullpen. Here's Dave Roberts, who is playing chess
after it's challenging.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
I think that you've got to be certain that you
can score some runs. There's certainly any guy that we
use tonight would would would have not been able to
pitch tomorrow and being down to going into the h
that last half, it just doesn't make sense to use
one of your leverage guys, you know, as far as
outcomes to have, you know, six guys in your pen
(04:20):
that are feeling good, rested. I feel good about that
and being up three to one.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
Yeah, yeah, So I wouldn't be shocked if Garrett Cole
gives you six great innings tonight. And if I'm by
the way, if I'm Aaron Boone and he gives you
eighty eight great pitches. Let him go. Let him go,
because you're you know, there's one guy so far we've
seen on this Yankee staff that can mow through the Dodgers,
(04:45):
and that's Garrett Cole. So in Game one he was excellent,
eighty eight pitches. They pulled him, series went downhill really quickly.
Let him go because this puppy's going back to LA
and the Dodgers are rested. Their bullpen is rested and
ready to roll. So this was kind of a thing
that broke on yesterday's show, but it needs to be contextualized.
(05:05):
So Shane Steiken's the coach of the Indianapolis Colts. He's
really good. Years and years and years ago he was
with the Chargers and a friend of mine, Tom Tellusko,
who was the GM, said, man, we got this young coach,
Shane Steiken. He had Herbert. He's like, this guy's going
to be a star head coach. He is really sharp.
So when Shane Stiken made Jalen Hurts almost the MVP,
(05:27):
he made Justin Herbert set all the rookie quarterback records.
And when Anthony Richardson he waved the white flag. He's like,
I give up. He put in Joe Flacco and the
quote is going forward. The Colts are going to play
Joe Flacco. For the record, I think it's the right move.
I think Joe Flackoll is gonna win a bunch of games.
And I think the Colts have a very good team.
They're being held back. But now here comes you see
(05:48):
this in the media. Protect the young athlete. Josh Allen
and Anthony Richardson through ten career starts, it was dead
even slight edge. Anthony Richardson, Kay, you have to watch
the games. You want to go to stats. Justin Fields
(06:09):
who got benched in Pittsburgh and Russell Wilson came in
and the offense is much better. Justin Fields right now
is a higher passer rating than Matt Stafford. Geno Smith
is better than Patrick Mahomes statistically in every category this year.
Have you watched the Chiefs in Mahomes in big spots,
(06:29):
third down, fourth down, goal line. Geno Smith statistically is
better than Mahomes. Not in your life. Justin Fields is
better statistically than Matt Stafford. What are we talking about?
So let's talk about Josh Allen. When he went to
the Bills, they had nothing to work with. They had
two good receivers I think because one Robert Foster I've
(06:50):
never heard of. They had no running game. Josh Allen
was the running game. He was their offense, and he
came in as a much much more ballyhooed prospect out
of college. Anthony Richardson had thirteen college starts. He wasn't
good in college. But Anthony Richardson has a top five
running back Jonathan Taylor, a brilliant offensive coach, Shane Steikn,
(07:13):
excellent wide receiver talent, and the top five offensive line
according to PFF. And he's getting worse. He's getting worse
by the start. Also, Anthony Richardson took himself out of
a game and said I was tired. So his self
awareness appears to be below average and his mechanics aren't
getting better. But you got to contextualize this stuff. You
(07:35):
can't go to ten starts, Okay, what was Indianapolis Like?
Indianapolis is a quarterback away and from first year to
this year, he's gotten significantly worse. Josh Allen came to
an offense with a defensive culture and Sean McDermott. That
had nothing receivers, tight ends, run game, o line. None
(07:55):
of it was good. None of it. And also Josh
Allen and got even within his first rookie season, Josh
Allen's first six games, he had two touchdown passes. He
was overwhelmed, the game was fast. His last six games
of his rookie season, he quadrupled that and had eight
touchdown passes. So even within the first season, you could
(08:17):
see Josh Allen go from WHOA, this game is fast,
WHOA I'm making mistakes to settle down, quadrupled his touchdowns.
He was a real guy. So and not to mention,
Josh Allen went from like five and six first year
to ten and six second year, WHOA, we got a
superstar to thirteen and three and he's on his way.
So you could see every four or five starts, Josh
(08:40):
Allen was getting noticeably better with nothing around him. Anthony
Richardson has real weapons around him, Pittman downs, Jonathan Taylor,
a top offensive line, a brilliant offensive coach, and it's
man overboard man. It's like life preservers. This thing is sinking.
So this is not like Shane Steichen is rooting against
(09:03):
the kid right. This is a tough decision because since
Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck have both left, they're just
desperately trying to find the quarterback. It says if the
media thinks some in the media think the Colts wanted
this to happen, they wanted this to work. They're seeing CJ.
Stroud beat him three hundred the last four times. The
Colts don't want to do this. The owner doesn't want
(09:23):
to do it, Chris Bouder, the GM doesn't want to
do it. Shans Teiken doesn't want to go to Joe Flacco.
This isn't in the plan. But sometimes when you have
a really good roster with really good players, and the
Colts do they really do. It's a really good roster.
This is a winnable division with the right quarterback. You
don't mean a great quarterback. I'll make the argument if
Joe Flacco stays upright, they're gonna reel off wins and
(09:46):
potentially be a nine or ten win team looking at
a wild card spot. Now, the Jets are bad, the
Dolphins are wonky Colts could fight for a playoff spot.
Here is Ryan Kelly, the team center on Richardson asking
bizarrely out of the game Sunday.
Speaker 4 (10:03):
We had a conversation about it, and you know, I think,
you know, that's not the standard that you know that
he needs to play up to, and the rest of
the team holds them too, And I'll kind of leave
the conversation that we had at that, but you know,
I'm sure he's gonna take the criticism for that just rightfully.
So right, I mean, that's a tough, tough look easy young.
I'm sure it's a learning moment for him. And leave
(10:23):
it that.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
Yeah, the Colts would prefer not to do this. This
is not what teams want to do. The Chargers didn't
start justin Herbert and think we hope it fails. And
by year two we're moving to a veteran. You're praying
this stuff works because all you have to do is
look at the standings right now. Best quarterback is winning
the AFC East. Best quarterback is winning the AFC South.
(10:46):
Best quarterback is winning the AFC West. The best quarterback
is within a game in the AFC North. I mean,
go go over the NFC. Best quarterback leads the NFC South.
Arguablee Stafford and Kyler Murray. You know Kyler Murray right now,
currently leads the NFC West. I don't think he'll stay there.
Best quarterback wins divisions and you draft one hoping in
(11:07):
the first round it works. Is Anthony Richards sing I
talked about this yesterday Wall Street, Silicon Valley in the NFL.
A lot of billionaires. Billionaires aren't patient. Billionaires are not patient.
This is a playoff roster with it. It's the rare situation,
playoff roster and the quarterback is holding you back. Good
luck to Joe Flacco, Jay MC. A lot of stuff
(11:28):
going on. So there was a moment in that Yankee game.
A ball gets it over, Mookie Bets goes over to
get it, and Yankee fans are fighting with Mookie Bets
and people. You know, people got all they got all
worked up about it.
Speaker 5 (11:41):
Well, I mean, I refer to the guy as Joey
bag of donuts, you know.
Speaker 1 (11:45):
Front row. He's like, oh, the grab is it? Uh, Colin,
you can't do it. That's a bad look for Yankees fans. Yeah,
I mean the guys were rejected instantly, right, Well, I
think they're gonna be allowed back tonight. You think they're
gonna get back in the station.
Speaker 6 (11:58):
Way.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
Yeah, he's a season ticket holder. You think they're gonna
let him back in and I are letting him back in.
He's a say some ticket holder. That's insanity. Come okay,
So we'll talk about that coming up next.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
in neon Eastern AM Pacific on Fox Sports Radio FS
one and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Well, there was a Yankee fan last night. It's got
people really worked up. And I and I will say this,
as a guy, there there are things I love about
being a guy, but you have to be careful about,
you know, hanging around for guys. You have to be
very careful about who you hang around, especially if there's
cocktails included.
Speaker 7 (12:38):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
You put a bunch of guys together, there's not a
lot of high level thinking at a frat party. Guys
get dumber if they're around other guys. Guys will do
things in groups of other men they would never do.
It's called herd mentality.
Speaker 6 (12:53):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
And that's not a slogan for my show. It's just
the reality of men. They've I wish this was just
an opinion or a theory. They've done studies on this,
guys get dumber when they're around other guys, and they
do they do things. So here's what happens. The name
of the guy here is Austin koppol Bianco. He's a
season ticket holder, and he and his buddy do something
(13:14):
they they shouldn't have done.
Speaker 8 (13:16):
And here it is fly the right by Torres Bets
in the corner. Does he have room fights with a
fan and they're.
Speaker 9 (13:29):
Gonna say that it's an out and fan interference, So
in out, one gone. In this first it's the second
time that liber Toys has hit a ball that has
ended up in fan interference.
Speaker 7 (13:40):
In this series.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
He had the home run turned into with.
Speaker 9 (13:43):
Double back at Dodger Stadium and yeah, Bet says that
ball in his glove and this fan literally tries to
take his glove off.
Speaker 7 (13:51):
He tries the ball out of there.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
Mookie Bets is like, no big deal because Mookie Bets
is smarter than those guys. And Mookie Bets realizes, Jeff, guys,
maybe a beer in you're not getting high level thinking, yeah,
they got thrown out. They knew they would. But literally,
kappol Bianco said, I patrol the wall and they know it.
(14:13):
He sees himself as very valuable. He thinks it should
be in Monument Park, Garrig Ruth and him. I mean
that's how that's what you get guys around each other,
and that's what they think. So you know, obviously you
have to throw him out. But I mean I see
this all the time when you jam fans. You know,
next athletes in the NBA, you got fans on the court,
you lubricate him with cocktails. They're served and you know,
(14:36):
don't be shocked if a half a dozen times during
the year minimum you have to throw some fans out.
So I mean again this this guy thinks he's very
valuable and very important. He thinks, he thinks, honestly, if
it wasn't for his high school baseball coach not liking
him right now, he should be inserted into the lineup
and not Aaron Judge. I mean, they've done studies on
this where seventy five percent of men think they would
(14:58):
be pro athletes if not for a coach who had
it out for them or an injury. So, as a guy,
a rent, when you put guys together, I've just baked
this into society. This is what they do in these
big spots they're going to be invited back their season
ticket holders. They view themselves. It's very tribal and territorial.
(15:20):
That wall is theirs. It's not the Dodgers. I don't
think it's the end of the world. People are saying
it should be assault. Mookie Bets, smarter than everybody in
that space, is like, it's no big deal. We're all
going to be good, and we all are going to
be good. But that's just the reality of you know,
this isn't the first time this happened. This happened again,
was it the Orioles Yankees years ago? I mean, this
(15:41):
stuff happens in sports. And if you want to charge
fans increasingly hundreds of dollars to go to a game,
and you want them to be seasoned ticket holders, they're
all in. These fans are all in, and I mean
that's what makes sports great. Remember when we had COVID
and you had to fake fans. Sports didn't feel the same.
And so you're always towing a line. I mean, you
could not serve alcohol, you could do that, but teams
(16:04):
want to do that because they have big deals with
Budweiser and Miller and all those companies. So there's always
been this line where you try to keep fans as
far enough away from players as you can, but you
got to get them close because you can charge them
more and you want to serve him beer. This is
American sports. It's not the end of the world. Jmac
(16:25):
doesn't think these guys should be allowed back in, and
a lot of people are have that sort of feeling.
In My take is we got to take a deep breath.
Sports is imperfect part of the whole fan player experience.
In alcohol, you put guys together, you get really bad judgment.
You don't get nuanced reasoning and sportsmanship. This is part
(16:46):
of what you get. So it's less about the guy
who caught it. Look at his buddy.
Speaker 5 (16:49):
Yeah, grabs Bets's wrists, Yes, while he's jumping.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
That's not smarter safe.
Speaker 5 (16:54):
Just think in any other sport if you if a
fan's grabbing you an NFL player knew the stands, an
NBA player, it's gonna get ugly pretty quickly. I don't
think these guys have any business being at the games.
And I'm a Yankee fan, like this is just embarrassing,
Like they should not be back alive.
Speaker 1 (17:09):
You and I would be embarrassed I mean, if I
was on TV doing this, I would be embarrased. I
would go for the ball, but you're not grabbing movie
bit risk. Of course I wouldn't, But you know, I
think in their life, they they viewed themselves as the
Grand Slam and that moment were the keys to the game.
They're probably like, do you want me on the postgame show?
(17:31):
I've got plenty of time here, I get it.
Speaker 2 (17:33):
Be sure to catch live editions of the Herd weekdays
and noon Easter. Not a em Pacific. He's the Hall
of Famer and the playmaker. Twelve years in the NFL
and three Super Bowl rings. The last time the Cowboys
were dominant, he was the playmaker and he is joining
us Michael Irvin, Pro Football Hall of Famer and studio.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
We got a lot of stuff. So we have been
talking about this all day. I'm like, listen, fans can
get a little grabby, but they're fans. So Yankee fans
got kicked out for tonight's Game five? What did you
make now?
Speaker 7 (18:02):
Now?
Speaker 1 (18:03):
J Max says you can't touch an athlete, so they
did grab Mooky bets. Mookie today said, I don't care.
I'm over it. What would you do with them?
Speaker 6 (18:11):
What man, Listen this right here. These guys are national heroes.
What are y'all talking about?
Speaker 7 (18:18):
Y'all? Y'all got another game in New York. Right now.
Speaker 6 (18:21):
They're sitting in some bar even they they don't okay,
they can't go to the game, but they gonna be
the star at the bar.
Speaker 7 (18:28):
Are you joking?
Speaker 1 (18:30):
They gonna be the star?
Speaker 7 (18:31):
Hey? Aren't you? Those guys? You're the reason we got
another game. Way you go, guys, way to go. Everybody.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Sam's getting your face out.
Speaker 6 (18:42):
But but okay, now you're walking out to Tonnel fans
doing stuff.
Speaker 7 (18:46):
That's that's different. That's different, but that's part of the game.
That's part of the game. That I thought that was
a home.
Speaker 6 (18:52):
Run, and and you always told me that both for
I was going for it, so he thought he had
him a ball.
Speaker 7 (18:58):
Yeah you final, I understand that. That's good. But that's good.
I just take that right there. I just take that
bother you.
Speaker 6 (19:04):
Oh god, no, no, that's like that's like yelling loud
at the free throw.
Speaker 7 (19:09):
That's all. That's what that.
Speaker 2 (19:11):
I mean.
Speaker 7 (19:11):
You touched it, but he was, he was, he was.
Speaker 6 (19:15):
In my area. I didn't go on the field to
touch him. He broke that glove over.
Speaker 1 (19:19):
Here and came into my area.
Speaker 7 (19:22):
Yeah he was.
Speaker 6 (19:23):
I stayed here. Them kids, them kids, they didn't leave
the area. Y'all, y'all gotta be rid.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
Of those guys. They're saying, hey, right here, he came
into us. We didn't go to him.
Speaker 6 (19:31):
Let me help everybody with this. Let me help everybody
with this. See look at it the other way. Them
poor fellows. Had they go and brouh and no and
didn't touch anything, they would have been the laughing stop
for the rest of their lives. They would have said,
oh my god, you had a chance. You could have
(19:52):
effected the game. You could have grabbed that bully him.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
Among their peer group, they would have been laughing, Oh.
Speaker 6 (19:57):
My god, you guys know him right about this, they
would have been they've been killed. Those they have killed
those kids with a tee. They're not just killed. They'd
have killed, you know, they would have. They'd have made
fun about on social media.
Speaker 7 (20:11):
In New York, the King of Rude. We do what
we want to do. We knew yas Yeah, dog, okay.
They would have piece the kids.
Speaker 6 (20:22):
They got some some d ms from girls they never
thought they could.
Speaker 7 (20:28):
They were like, dude, yes, who d m me?
Speaker 6 (20:32):
Yeah, that is the grail model, she says, she saw
me and influencer.
Speaker 7 (20:37):
I guarantee you they got some well I mean, I
mean you got some d ms. That's what I'm talking about. Obviously,
I want no trouble.
Speaker 1 (20:48):
Okay, So the big big story last week, big story
last week, Michael, is that former Cowboys are like, yeah,
the facility tours are obnoxious, they're weird, they're they're cringey,
and fans are waving at us. What did you make
of that?
Speaker 6 (21:08):
We can't job, we can't do this. I'm stunned. Why
that's called stun Let's called.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
Your stun that players are upset.
Speaker 6 (21:17):
I'm stunned that I'm sitting here on national TV. I
think using my most precious resource called time, spending my
most precious resource called brain equity, speaking about this being
a distraction to players that make sixty million dollars a year. Now,
(21:42):
you understand, back in the day, those practice facilities used
to be way out.
Speaker 7 (21:46):
Way out right, but they were not.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
They weren't this nice.
Speaker 6 (21:48):
Right right, and they were never this nice. They were
lost leaders. They were just lost money. So so they
moved from one property from a sea property to maybe
b property, and they upbuilding developments around and people are
having offices and watching practice.
Speaker 7 (22:04):
Now, now, do.
Speaker 6 (22:06):
You want to live in my year when we were
making six, seven, eight, ten million dollars a year?
Speaker 7 (22:12):
You go back to.
Speaker 6 (22:13):
Those old practices where nobody's watching, but your ass is
in this year and you're making sixty million dollars a year.
The way they got it to sixty is by moving
in and letting those people watch. If you don't want
to put people to watch, go back to making five
and six and eight million dollars a year. Otherwise, shut
the hell up and play football. Why is somebody walking
(22:36):
around watching you play?
Speaker 7 (22:37):
Eat lunch is a distraction.
Speaker 1 (22:39):
That's not a distraction.
Speaker 7 (22:40):
Man.
Speaker 6 (22:40):
Let's stop coming up with stuff and making excuses for
not showing up on the football field.
Speaker 7 (22:47):
Are you joking somebody watching me eat lunch? Come on, man,
I can not be the rational one.
Speaker 6 (22:55):
And I've seen this story making on every network every well.
I don't know how this is the story. I cannot
be the rational one. It just doesn't sound humanly right.
Speaker 1 (23:08):
Okay, all right, now another question. I heard you're hot
on this, Anthony Richardson. Now people say well, Josh Allen
struggled in his first ten games. But here's where I
defended Josh Allen. He went to a team with a
defensive coach, no receivers, no run game, and he got
good his first six games to his last six his
(23:28):
rookie year, he made a big leap. Anthony's got an
offensive coach, a great back, a great line, two receivers.
He's getting worse, like noticeably with Shane Steichen. I think
they had to make them. I don't think they wanted
to do this. I think they look at their roster
and think we're the best. We have the best roster
in this division. We got we got an impulsive owner
(23:48):
in Jim Mersy. We gotta win games.
Speaker 6 (23:51):
You don't like it, right, Well, the move you don't
like it, yeah, Anthony Richardson, No, it was the right move.
Speaker 7 (23:59):
You're okay with it was the right move.
Speaker 6 (24:01):
I'm not okay with it because I hate seeing the
young man go through these kinds of struggle. And we
talk about this all the time because it's two things
that play here. It's what's happening on the football field,
but it's also what's happening inside a young man. You know,
and and there are two things here. There's a professional
him and a personal him. And we knew when you
(24:22):
drafted him fourth overall.
Speaker 7 (24:24):
He was wrong, that he was wrong. He was wrong.
Speaker 6 (24:27):
So and putting him in a position where okay, he
has that ability and draft a fourth overall and he's
wrong in his profession, Let's make you know an assessment
that he's probably going to be wrong in his person
and we got to make sure we undergird him correctly
and not have these kinds of situations. You're the CEO
(24:49):
of the company. You can't. You've in the history of football,
we never had a quarterback. I've never seen a quarterback typess.
Helement and come out.
Speaker 1 (24:58):
Of the game, he was tired. What did you make
of that?
Speaker 6 (25:01):
Well, he's a running quarterback and I understand that. And yeah,
if you're running and he's run a few plays. And
people got to understand during the season, you you really
if you're not very careful and diligent the if you
do a digital di diligently, you will get out of
shape during the season as the season goes on because
(25:23):
you do less running as they're trying to protect you.
Speaker 1 (25:27):
You're also constantly rehabbing trying.
Speaker 7 (25:29):
To get rehabit and everything. Yeah, or rehabiting.
Speaker 6 (25:32):
So you you really you, you got to take it
upon yourself to run more. Troy, I'm telling y'all would
run all the time. I would see him running at lunch,
you know, because the job most times they're dropping back
three steps, five steps, seven steps, three steps steps.
Speaker 7 (25:46):
There's not a whole lot of running in that.
Speaker 6 (25:48):
So you gotta add it, especially if you're making a
living with your legs. And you got to understand that
it has never happened in the history of the game. Now,
I can't put you back in the game because other
guys will be in the locker room.
Speaker 7 (26:01):
I'm not worrying.
Speaker 6 (26:03):
I worry about the kid, and then and then I
worry about that locker room. And if you, everybody in
the locker room is saying, man, what are we doing here?
Speaker 7 (26:11):
Man?
Speaker 6 (26:12):
We got a quarterback. Man, the guy's tapping out. Clearly
he's not ready for this. That's why they have to
sit him down.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
They lose in the locker room.
Speaker 7 (26:20):
They'll lose the locker room. They will lose the locker room.
Speaker 6 (26:23):
This is bigger than Jim mersay you you'll definitely see
Jim mersay, if you don't make sure you keep this
locker room there, there's no there is no there's no
way to deny. You will be right in front of
Jim Mercy if you lose this locker room and that
move he would had to make or he would have
lost that locker room.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
Yeah okay, so uh the biggest player of the weekend.
Washington out played Chicago. Actually they deserve to win. I
was happy to hail Mary happen because Chicago had no
business winning. We saw the kids screwing around Jerik Stevens
saying it's a mistake. Okay, he's a kid. I would
be mad make him speak to the team. But is
there or away? Did did you? And Jimmy?
Speaker 7 (27:01):
Did you?
Speaker 1 (27:01):
Guys practice hail Mary's every day all the time.
Speaker 6 (27:05):
Every day and people gotta have to understand there was
a system to a hell Mary. There's a system and
that's why man watching it, I was like, whoa did
you see this? I was telling the guys earlier. I
was at the Miami game and cam Ward he came
over to the game. He was Crab, the guy, the
(27:26):
stick guy. Do we have a TV time out? He said,
no TV time I need it turn around.
Speaker 7 (27:32):
Told coach, get the guys here. We're not gonna have
a TV time out. I need to get it in.
We gotta go fast.
Speaker 6 (27:37):
I looked back to Bernie Kozark because we were all
on the sideline, and said, what was that?
Speaker 7 (27:41):
Bernie?
Speaker 6 (27:41):
He said, Man, it took me five years before I
learned all of that. I was like, I didn't even
know that stick man existed on the football field.
Speaker 7 (27:47):
You see what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (27:49):
So to me that you're seeing leadership and a player
that's beyond his years. What I saw in that hell
Mary was something beyond his years. Again, now the order
of a hell Mary, you have three men involved him.
Most important, you have a point man. His job is
to go down and stand maybe a yard right inside
(28:13):
the touchdown.
Speaker 1 (28:14):
Right the first guy you wanted to stand in front
of the goal line.
Speaker 6 (28:17):
Right in front of the goal line. Bhoom face back
rebound position, basketball rebound position.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
Tip guy.
Speaker 7 (28:25):
You know, he is the point guy.
Speaker 6 (28:27):
The first guy one yard inside the end zone, he
is the point guy. The next guy four yards outside
the goal line, he is the front guy. Because their job,
the defense is taught to bat it down. So that
guy is going to be the little quick God, the
fast God. So if it gets back down, we didn't
skip it and get your butt in his inen zone.
(28:49):
So guy away. So he's going to be a fast guy,
a guy like me, Noah Brown. We're going to be
on the backside five yards past cast out the point man.
And here his job as the point man is to
try to catch it.
Speaker 7 (29:02):
If he can't.
Speaker 6 (29:03):
Catch it, push it back, point it, kick it back,
and Noah Brown gets it. But if they try to
get it and hit it forward, then we got the
front man to hit it.
Speaker 7 (29:12):
Now. Now I want you to go inside of a
football game.
Speaker 6 (29:16):
These things are usually happening at the end of a game,
and there are things that you that people haven't talked
about now. First of all, even to get to the
fifty yard line, you remember you had to throw that
quick out there. So we were in a two minute
drill just to get to the fifty yard line.
Speaker 7 (29:31):
That means everybody just line up playing, line up playing, line.
Speaker 6 (29:34):
Up playing, and then you get to the fifty yard
line and throw the hell Mary.
Speaker 7 (29:39):
You are damn exhausted. You're exhausted.
Speaker 6 (29:44):
You never get it set up as we practice it
because there's never enough time for exhausted as you lost
to run fifty yards.
Speaker 7 (29:53):
No, it wasn't. He created the time.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
This is what I'm talking about.
Speaker 6 (29:57):
That that's what he did the way the way he
can't he every time he back up and then the
quarterbacks have come forward and go right or left, but
that's not enough time, and they'll throw the ball.
Speaker 7 (30:05):
He backed up, went forward when one way, then.
Speaker 6 (30:09):
Came back the other way, and then as he was
coming to the side he was going to throw it
on he will still waited, see like, get in position
and then throw that jump ball. I said to myself,
that's beyond his years to understand a sense of time.
Speaker 7 (30:24):
And when when you're that's young, everything is being rushed.
Speaker 6 (30:27):
It's incredible and it's so beautiful to watch how he
comes along, how he's coming along.
Speaker 7 (30:33):
But it's it's.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
An if you coached the Bears with that Tarik Stevenson
messing around with the fans.
Speaker 6 (30:39):
Man, it's afterwards and there's nothing you can do. You know,
we're not in the Jimmy Johnson years where you just
made an example out of.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
Guys and you know can't do that anymore, right.
Speaker 6 (30:51):
Right, right, because you know you just can't do that anymore.
So here, what you gotta do is, you know, and
if sad part is he was supposed to be the
guy that's boxing out, that's boxing out Noah Brown, and
that that's that's only one doodoo. That's only one doodoo
that you didn't get the box out. Now, the other
doodoo for me is is now you come running in
(31:11):
and everybody's in position to play basketball to knock the
ball down.
Speaker 7 (31:15):
But when you come running in with that in.
Speaker 6 (31:17):
Ertia, you knocked everybody off where they were going and
you were the one.
Speaker 7 (31:21):
To kick the ball back to Noah Brown. That's the
second doodoo. You see what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
Also, they had a spy on Jaden Daniels that felt
like a wasted defender, right.
Speaker 6 (31:30):
But that that's on God gifts shoulders down. What we
talked about what Jaye Daniels doing is his ability to
understand things shoulders up. But when he was getting away
from the Russians, that's just what God, God just said
and just gave him that kind of gift for that.
Speaker 7 (31:47):
He's he smooth.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
Michael Irvin of a playmaker defending righteously. You know, Michael
made a good point. J Max Mookie Betts sort of
came into their space parking spot. They nudged this car
into their parking spot.
Speaker 6 (32:03):
And if those dudes came on the field for that ball,
that's a different story.
Speaker 1 (32:07):
It is throwing Stuff's different stories. Going on the field
a different story. In all your years, was there I
remember years ago there was a player named Mike Curtis.
He was a linebacker. Somebody came on the field and
he tackled him. In all your years of high school,
college pro, let's just go college pro, did any fan
ever run on the field. No, No, I've never had that.
Most people are smart enough.
Speaker 7 (32:28):
Not not that I remember.
Speaker 6 (32:30):
And you got to remember to Collins, I was always
playing for one of the majors, you know by Saint
Thomas Aquinas High School, the University of Miami, and you are.
Speaker 1 (32:41):
The Dallas had real security.
Speaker 7 (32:43):
Boy, Yeah, that was real security there because they are
wanted the majors.
Speaker 1 (32:47):
This wasn't a D three school.
Speaker 7 (32:49):
Yeah, that was always good. You know, we had the
real popo over there, the real pope.
Speaker 6 (32:56):
We didn't have the rental, the renters, you know, the
rental Michael reference, the playmaker
