Speaker 1 (01:44):
All right, guys, we just wrapped UFC three oh nine
and John Jones is still the UFC Heavyweight Champion. Defeats
Steve Abochis in a third round spitting back kick to
the ribs puts me Oldji down.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Great performance by the champions, so.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
John Jones came back after the injury as the heavyweight champion.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
This fight was built as.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
The greatest heavyweight of all time, taking on what many
considered the greatest fighter of all time. From the very
start of this fight, it was very apparent that these
two were not on the same level.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
From round one, I mean John Jones had a ten
eight round.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
In round one, starts to fight with a beautiful kick
to the middle jab that Steve babyok Mia just.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Takes him down with what was a sick take down.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
It was crazy too, because it seemed as though he
got lost in his thoughts and he just went to
that trip Miach just goes down and it just brutal grounded.
Found that early takedown played such a massive part in
the way that the fight played out because it took
a lot out of steep A and then he looks
slow chasing John down. You know when these guys, when

(03:14):
a guy like John Jones gets into the octagon, you
have to be prepared for so much because.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
There's so much coming at you.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
So these guys will put people in training camp to
try and replicate that.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
But then when you're in there with him, it's.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
So different because the speed's different, the fight i q's different.
The ability to set up all those weapons is much
different than telling the person I need you doing this, this,
this and this, and then you got a guy that
can wrestle, you got a guy that.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Can do the pushkick, you got a kickboxer, you got
a multi guy.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
You don't have a guy that can do all of that,
that is John Jones. It looked like Steve a expected
something and he got something completely different. It was a whpeoff.
It really was a whpeoff. And while I was surprised,
I knew that this fight could go one.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Or two ways.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
It could be very close, it could be very competitive,
or it could be one sided. Tonight we got options
to the one sided fight where Miochi's didn't get much accomplished.
Even when he would attack. It felt like Jones saw
it coming, would evade, escape, and then reset, and Miochi's
wasn't willing to continue to engage in a way that

(04:34):
would allow for him to really get to Jones. But
it was vintage John Jones. A lot of kicks, some
knees when they got close, and a good job. You know,
there are some areas that you don't expect the guy
to improve in as they age. It seems like Jones
now has a better job, and it seems like he's

(04:56):
hitting harder at eavyweight.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
He landed a right hand on the Ochi that almost
staggered him. I've never you never felt that as a threat.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
When you were in there with him before, Meaning if
he hits you in the right hand, it never really hurts, right.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
It was the kicks and the.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
Knees and everything off. But this dude proved time and
time again, man how good he is. And I truly
believe a lot of it is due to the hard work,
the fight, IQ and the toughness, the durability that he
possesses inside the octagon. You know, it does not matter
what I feel about John Jones in life.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
I do respect him tremendously immensely as a fighter.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
He does a lot of the right things when he's
inside that octagon, and that has led to him having
more success than anyone who said this guy has the
fitin the titles and over the course of three generations
of the fighters, that was it for that generation, Steve
was it for that generation, meaning the cane velasquez Is
and the junior Dosantos and Verdunes.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
And all those guys. Me, that was it.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
That was the end of that generation. Then there was
a generation prior, the rampage and UH showguns and the
machetas he banquished those guys too. He has defended his
belt over three generations. So no matter what you feel
about him, it's UH it's very apparent that you have
to respect him and the skills that he possesses in

(06:23):
an octagon, and he is once again defending a belt
in the stage the UFC Heavyweight.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
Champion, Steve A. Miochich. I'm glad he's retiring. He was done,
He's done. You know, he didn't he didn't look good.
He looked like a guy that hadn't fought for three years.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
He looks slower than I have ever seen him look,
and being slow in the front of a guy like
that never works well for you.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
You gotta press, you gotta go forward, you gotta take.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
Some chances, and Miochis just did not have that ability
to take the chances necessary to really give himself the shot.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
I spent all over that camera. Uh. John Jones said
he's not gonna retire now. He said he's gonna fight again.
Good because we need to see him fight Tom Asker.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
I talked to Big Tom after the fight as they
were ushering him out. You know, Annick asked me a
question and Joe rogan, what was Tom.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
Asknall thinking watching that?

Speaker 1 (07:18):
I said nothing, So then I asked Tom the same question,
what were you thinking Tom watching that? Tom said, nothing
he goes because Steve Baner are completely different. No disrespect
to Steve Bay he said, but he was slow. He said,
I'm not gonna be slow. I'm not gonna watch him.
I'm going to go after him. If that's the case,
we're in for a very very fun fight. Asking if big,

(07:40):
he's explosive and he's a young interim champion, that seems
to be the guy that can give John Jones problem.
But we have thought many many times that guys would
give Jones problems and none of them have been able
to do that. And the comin of vent, Michael Chandler
and Joe o'lavera had a fantastic fight. Look, everybody's going
to talk about the fifth round, which was the round

(08:02):
of the year, because you had Michael Chandler hurt, Charles
Olivera Oliverro recover even though he got hit with so
many rabbit punches. I mean, every one of those punches
from the top Mike hit him with was behind the head.
The fact that Olivera got him speak to how tough
and durable.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
He is and his finer spirit. The Charles Olivera.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
Old the guy that ball Feller beating all these other
guys would not have done that. He would have backed
it in, and then we would have had a bit
of a controversy right where the shots illegal. He's just said,
no contest all these things. When Olivera fought a beautiful fight,
beautiful he was vintage, but he was much more safe.

(08:43):
He did a good job of tracking down Chandler without
taking as many risks as he did before or.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
During his championship reign. But the fight was still fun.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
That moment where Chandler was getting up and jumping backwards
is something I'll never forget. And I believe that Olivera
once again has earned himself a UFC championship opportunity. He
is showing time and time again he is truly one
of the elite of the Elite's striking look fantastic. His
grappling is as good as anybody in the UFC's ever seen.

(09:15):
His cardio is amazing. Now his toughness is there to match.
Chandler went back to the Conor McGregor thing. Very smart.
I said this before the fight. I thought Chandler had
a better chance of getting the McGregor fight if he lost.
He lost that fight, he showed that you can hurt him,
but he also showed out tough and durably is Michael
Chandlers doesn't need to win all the time.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
He's past that in terms of who he is as
a fighter.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
As you guys see Miles again in the back, he's
pasted that he once again won.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Even though he lost.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
He'll get the McGregor fight and it's going to be massive,
and I'm all for and Olivera will go back into
a championship fight, and I'm all for it. All worked
after that co made event. Both Nicol fault against Paul Craig,
and people were yelling overrated, overrated, overrated, all these things,
and you know what, it wasn't a bad performance. I

(10:11):
thought both did a good job. He's inexperience, he's barely
been fighting. He stood for fifteen minutes against Paul Craig.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
Paul Craig has.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
Beat some of the best fighters in the UFC's history
world champions.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
Both Nickel beat him and shut him out. People are
yelling overrated both. Nichol should not take that to heart.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
He did a good job. Mauricio Rufie Los the real deal.
He still is. I know it was a twenty nine
to twenty eight victory. But that was only because James
Jannis ham ham Top, which is the weirdest spelling of
a name ever, was just so tough, durable.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
And it's just really tough.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
Anybody else would have been put out by the shots
that Mauricio Roofi hit him. Marcus McGee, great job, dude,
Doctor Martinez.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
Get going sooner.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
Jim Miller back out the gym another submission victory at
like forty two or forty three years old, Jim Miller
submits another person to get another victory. David Onama, Marchie Tabora,
Ramiz Brahim Ovan Elliott and.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
At lordam Wada Brod Moide out of He's their day.
All got the job done. Congratulations to teach and every
one of them.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
New York City is a very special place to hold fights,
and I felt like tonight we got one of the
best performances and one of the best fighters we've ever
seen inside the outois. Then I belongs to John Jones,
as many do whenever he competes, as he beats steeveemy ochic.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
Now let's go forward and see what happens next.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
Hopefully is John Jones versus Tom Ascamon until next time.
Guys like subscribe and tell you friends about my YouTube channel.
I appreciate the love and support. I appreciate all that
you guys give me. Until next time, Like subscribe. Did
I say that already? Did my outro twice?

Speaker 2 (12:00):

Speaker 1 (12:02):
It's been a long day's poet, thirty in the morning year.
I do this for you because I love it. Make
sure you hit those your minds. Until next time, Peez
