You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Here we go to Monday. Lots and lots and lots
to talk about in LA. It's the Herd. Wherever you
may be, however you may be listening. Thanks for making
us part of your day. One hour from now, Drew
Brees stops by where Colin was right, where Colin was wrong? Well,
yesterday we had a big prize fight on Friday that
was a dud. We had a prize fight yesterday that

(00:46):
wasn't a dud. Buffalo, Kansas City, which, by the way,
in the regular season, the Bills are beating the fours
right times. But you know what, the way it works
in the NFL, it's like college basketball, nobody cares until March.
Nobody wants to hear of December January, February, and college
basketball North Carolina they want March. And so Jay Mack

(01:08):
the Bills do beat the Chiefs. It's official. They don't
beat them when they really want to beat them, but
they beat them all the time. So Buffalo is now
four and one against Kansas City in the regular season.
So fun game, great game, prize fight look great. Kansas
City probably still gonna get home field advantage, but they
didn't need it last year, so it's not the be
all end. What did we learn from the game. Well,

(01:31):
I do believe, and I've said this for probably a
month and a half. I think this is the best
version of Buffalo to beat Kansas City. They were missing
three starters offensively, and they still had three hundred and
sixty six yards scored, thirty points, were great on third down,
They dominated the game. This is the best version of Buffalo.
They were missing a great tight end, you know, they're

(01:52):
missing an offensive lineman, they're missing a star wide receiver,
and they still move the ball. They dominate third down,
they dominate time of possession, they control the football game,
and so I think this is the the absolute best
version of Buffalo. For years and years, they always had like,
you know, mediocre running backs. They don't anymore. They would

(02:13):
have no number one receiver or if they did. Stefan Diggs.
You liked him, but it got dramatic. Amari Cooper's like
quiet volume, makes plays, never hear a peep. It's like
it just works. Buffalo. Buffalo's not a flashy team. They
have a incredibly dynamic quarterback. But it is a middle class, tough,
blue collar, punch in the mouth, play, physical, jump on

(02:35):
picnic tables. That's what it is. That's even the Jim
Kelly teams and the Josh Allen teams. You had a
great quarterback that can make amazing things happen. But it's
a tough town. Tough people a way to win. They
like to play at home. They use the weather and
their toughness to their advantage. And but it's the NFL.
It's a new era. You gotta have something on the sidelines.

(02:56):
You gotta have some wiggle, right, And like Buffalo was like, okay,
you got the tough down, you got the Josh Allen down.
We've seen that before with Buffalo. That was the Jim
Kelly teams. You had a great quarterback, you were tough,
you had a good coach, and like, but this team
now is got more offensive weapons. So Josh Allen didn't
have to put the cape on all the time. This
version of Buffalo. I like so, And let's be honest

(03:17):
about Kansas City. They have been the best team in
the NFL last couple of years, situationally in big moments.
But they've had to be because they're not Detroit. They
don't steamroll anybody. I mean, they were on a fifteen
game winning streak. Twelve of those wins were one possession,
So they've got to be great and they are situationally,
but they have to out smart, they have to out

(03:38):
clever because that's what they have right now. When you
pay Mahomes what you pay him, you're not going to
have two great receivers. You can't be Cincinnati. And I mean,
I just think there was a moment in that game.
It was a big play at the end of the half,
and I thought it was really interesting where Buffalo ended
the first half. Josh Allen had a really bad pick.

(03:58):
Is really bad pick. You know, I saw, like everybody
in the homes, you know, a lot of quarterbacks, Russell
Wilson had really bad picks yesterday and Josh played great,
but he had a really bad pick. Kansas City takes it,
marches down and I'm thinking, oh, here we go, here
we go. This is the moment Buffalo is gonna fold
against Kansas City. But they didn't. They settled down. Josh

(04:19):
Allen wasn't gonna let it happen. They let it happen.
They never trailed, They never trailed. So it was surprize
fight we thought, we hoped we'd get on Friday. You know,
we thought Friday was gonna be a big fight, and
it was a dud this one. As we tuned in,
I'm like, I don't know what I learned. This is
the best version of Buffalo Kansas City. This thing had
to end eventually. You can't just win close games forever.
There was a moment in this game where I thought

(04:41):
I kind of thought Buffalo was gonna fold. Josh bad
pick Chiefs marched down, but you know what, they didn't.
And they made big plays that Amari Cooper catch and
this feels like a little different, little more fordeditude. Josh
Allen the the knockout punch run for a touchdown and

(05:03):
here he was after.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
I know it's a from perception, outside perception, it's a
really big game and what it means for both fan
bases in the League. We're in week eleven. You know,
we're nine and two. Last time I checked, nine wins
probably doesn't get you in the playoffs. So you know,
going into spy week, get to enjoy ourselves a little bit,
but coming back ready, you know, a hungry team and

(05:27):
just trying to go one to know.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Now, let's state it again. Buffalo does beat Kansas City.
This is not Lamar Jackson against the Steelers. He can't
beat him. No, No, Buffalo beats Kansas City a lot,
four straight regular season. They're very good at that. It
has been late in the season. You get to the playoffs,
it becomes very situational. The weather is worse in the game,

(05:50):
the margins get tiny, tiny, tiny. But I did come
out of that and think, now they really this is
really good. This is a super Bowl capable trophy team.
That's what it feels. We know Detroit is, we know
Kansas City is. You know, I'm having my doubts now
every week on Baltimore. We may just have three teams
capable of hoisting a trophy. We know Detroit's good enough,

(06:11):
they're steamrolling people. We know Kansas City situationally brilliant. And
I watched Buffalo yesterday, and I'm like, they don't steamroll you,
but they have their moments when they got a little
Detroit and they were pretty good Situationally, I think this
is the third team Buffalo that can hoist a trophy.
I mean we may only have three. Okay, So last
night was crazy. Chargers beat the Bengals thirty four to

(06:33):
twenty seven. So I was thinking watching this game, what
you witnessed was two kind of funky franchises, the Bengals
and the Chargers historically. And what you saw in the
first half was a quarterback put on a clinic, and
then what you saw in the second half was the
other quarterback put on a clinic. In the first half,
justin Herbert was insane. Two hundred forty yards. I mean,

(06:53):
he's got very little to work with receiver and tight end,
two touchdowns, one hundred and fifty three, passer rating seventy
one percent, completion percent twenty four to six at half.
I kept thinking, in the first half, Jesus Herbert is
so good. He makes Joe Burrow look pedestrian. He was
that good in the first half, just absolutely on fire.
And then in the second half Joe Burrow may have

(07:15):
been better. Joe Burrow was so good in the second half.
I thought, good God, Joe Burrow was so good. He
makes Justin Herbert look pedestrian. It was MJ against the Blazers.
Burrow made two or three of the best plays I've
seen a quarterback make all year. Three touchdowns, no picks,
two hundred and seventy three yards, one hundred and four
passer rating. Now he's got more stuff to work with.

(07:35):
But what you're looking at with Herbert and Burrow, they're
similar in some ways, smart guys, but Herbert's a power quarterback.
He's a bigger, stronger, power thrower. Joe is a little
a little better touch, a little more clever, can be
a little bit more creative. They're both unbelievable. They're both

(07:57):
bright kids, workaholics. Know they're not looking for a lot
of love in the endorsement game. Oh I guess this
year Joe Burrow off season, went to a fashion show
and he's got the little stuff in his hair. But
in the end, I'm sitting there thinking, unless you have him,
mahomes Josh Allen that last night, I'm sitting on a
couch thinking, man. Ninety percent of the teams in this league,

(08:20):
fans in this league, GMS in this league, owners in
this league had to have quarterback envy watching these two
teams play. And then Herbert dominates the first half, just
like jaw dropping, like good God, and then Burrow may
have been better in the second half. And then all
of a sudden we're all tied up, and they go
back and the ping pong and they volleyball it and

(08:40):
they go back and forth and nobody can win. And
eventually it wasn't Herbert or Burrow, it was justin Herbert.
A teammate JK. Dobbins gave him some help, peeled off
the big run down the left sideline. This is a
game the LA Chargers, the San Diego Chargers, the Carson
Chargers would have lost the last forty years. And somehow

(09:03):
Harbaugh and Herbert great coach and quarterback, never wobbled, never wobbled.
You know it, and I know it. There's a term
called charging. And I'm sitting there watching this and I'm like, no, no,
I saw this happen seven times last year. I don't
want to see this. I'm getting you know. It was
nothing against Joe Burrow. He was incredible, But I thought

(09:25):
to myself. They're gonna lose this thing, aren't they. And
they didn't and they're not going to because that's what
Harbaugh and Herbert you know it, you said it for
years got you could just get justin Herbert, the coach
and the culture, if you could just get justin the protection, eh.
And they have and they have and they have and

(09:47):
they won. And here's the coach after.

Speaker 4 (09:50):
Guys, just don't you know, didn't flinch, didn't buckle, didn't
even stumble, just just kept right at it and responded.
I've been to this movie a few times, so I
know what it looks like. And yeah, there's no no, no,
nobody we'd rather have. We just feel like we got

(10:11):
the right guys.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
Listen that the Chargers still need They're not quite Buffalo.
They still need to meet another playmaker or two. Offensively,
the Bengals need more defense. But I'm i'm the Chargers
are very close to being exceptional, and maybe lad Maconkey grows,
they'll have to be totally healthy. They're not deep enough

(10:34):
yet where they can be missing like Buffalo, three offensive
starters and still get almost four hundred yards against the Chiefs.
But that win wasn't about the yards, and it was
about a game. They dominated, it evaporated, it was tied.
Burrow was on fire. That game was a loss the

(10:55):
last forty years, and there was something about resilience, a
little old word moxie, toughness mentally, not just physically, and
they pulled it out that For a Charger fan, it
felt like it's a new day, same roster as last year.
Overwhelmingly totally new team, totally new vibe, totally new feeling.

(11:21):
And I want to say this in a losing effort,
Burrow was insane. I mean, some of those throws Joe
Burrow made were as good a plays as I've seen
all year. That includes mahomes Lamar justin Jalen Hurts. I
mean he was just spitting'. I mean some of these
throws don't even just everything worked, everything clicked. The real

(11:46):
winner beyond the Chargers last night was fans. That was
a great showcase, an incredible showcase of what a great
quarterback can do to a franchise because Cincinnati, he's been
cheap and the Chargers have been funky forever, and instead
you got a great game. One team dominates one half,

(12:07):
one dominates the other, and then in the end, Harbaugh
Herbert figure out a way to pull out a W.
By the way, you know, I love Lamar Jackson. I'll
get to that in a second. There is something about
the Steelers and Lamar Jackson. It goes sideways every time
they play, and I can't quite figure it out. I'll

(12:29):
try to guess around the corner. Drew Brees one hour
from now, actually forty five minutes from now. It was
it was a fun weekend. I had a feeling I'd
said this Friday and Blazing five. I didn't love this match.
I thought Cincinnati desperate and that playmaking offense, well, it
was great. It just wasn't great until the second half.

(12:49):
Like Cincinnati was a little bit shell shocked. They couldn't
make stops, they couldn't get the offense going. Cincinnati was
completely out of sorts in the entire first half.

Speaker 5 (12:57):
And didn't we talk about the Chargers last week as
a potential scary team in the AFC. That's a team.
I know we love the Chiefs and Andy Reid here
at this network, but I like to Charger team a lot.
They are very dangerous cold. They match up really well
to do with all the.

Speaker 1 (13:14):
JK Dobbins's gonna be on our show in the third hour,
gonna stop via game wrunning Touchdown.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and neon Easter non am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
FS one and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
All right, welcome back. You know I love Lamar Jackson.
You know I defend him to the ends of the earth.
And he's easy to defend. He's great except against Kansas
City in Pittsburgh. He is sixty five and eighteen against
the league. He's lost once to an NFC team in
like twenty five games. And yet he's two and nine

(13:48):
against the Steelers and Chiefs. Superman s kryptonite and he
has these and I don't know it's him, it's the Ravens.
They lose their identity when every plays the Steelers and
the Chiefs, he gets too frenetic, he doesn't trust himself,
he's trying too hard. He loses composure, and they bailed

(14:09):
on their identity. This is a run leaning operation. And
yesterday they throw thirty three passes and run nineteen times.
And where's Dereck Henry? Where's Derek Henry in the fourth quarter?
What in the hell's going on. Every time I watch
Baltimore against everybody else, they walk in, take their shirt
off and like power team. It's like nineteen seventies at
Venice Beach. We're gonna do lifting weights in front of everybody,

(14:30):
just a big muscle, show power in your faith. And
then they play Pittsburgh and then they play Kansas City
and they're like, wow, we like to pass. That's fine,
but your identity, your identity. Back to Ray Lewis, Baltimore
is a tough city. You're a tough team, you control
the tempo, you lose your way, and there is something

(14:53):
about Lamar in these games, and like Derrick Henry disappears
in the fourth and they're throwing too much. And it
was a one possession game, like Pittsburgh gave you opportunities
to win. Russell Wilson threw maybe his worst pick in
several years. Nausee Harris averaged three point five yards of carry.
It's not like Pittsburgh got into any rhythm. I didn't

(15:14):
think either quarterback played particularly well. It was there for
the taking, but the Steelers didn't lose their identity. The
Steeler team we've watched for the last four weeks didn't
play particularly well on offense, but it was the same team, Baltimore.
What are we doing? I mean, And I think here's
the other thing. And I said this Friday, I had
picked the Steelers to win this game on Friday, placing five.

(15:36):
I said, there's just something. The more you play Lamar,
the better feel you have formed. And I think you
noticed it. I'm sure you noticed it. On the two
point conversion. I think Lamar Jackson's about the most guaranteed
two point conversion in the league. But when the Steelers
play him, did you notice how before the ball was
snapped they had a lot of their best athletes on

(15:57):
the perimeter. It's like, yeah, we know what he does.
You snap it to Lamar and he's just got ahead
of the exits and Pittsburgh was sitting there waiting. And
maybe it was my eyes playing tricks on me, but
I watched right before the snap. I like, Pittsburgh has
seen this. They know how to defend Lamar here because
they face him two times a year and they win
virtually every time. And Lamar is superman the Chiefs and

(16:21):
specifically the Steelers. I mean, his passer rating goes to
one to oh three against the world and seventy four
against the Steelers, and again Russell had one big plate
of pickens. I mean, Russell's doing it. He knows who
to throw to. But they did not play a great
football game. Steelers, though, have beaten them eight out nine times.
And they keep him in the pocket and they make

(16:43):
him be poised and they force him to be patient.
And there's something about the Steelers. It's just Lamar starts
going one hundred miles an hour and he's like the
identity of the organization. They're not quite sure. They're as
confident as they were against everybody else. And I watched
it again yesterday. Keep thinking it's not gonna happen. Shame
on me. I'm like, no, this time is different. It's

(17:04):
never different against the Steelers. It's just not different. And
Pittsburgh go as plays Koe going into the game. We
call them mister Jackson. Around here. Now you can call
them Lamar. I mean, because you guys playing better than
anybody else in the world, so you can call them
whatever you want. But this is now. I don't feel
that Kansas City is in Buffalo's head. I think Kansas

(17:26):
City has been better situationally than Buffalo in close games,
but I don't think they're in Buffalo's head. Buffalo's beats
them in the regular season. I don't think when I
watch Buffalo Kansas City, I'm like, Buffalo's confident. Buffalo's not
losing their identity. They gave the ball to Josh Allen
go be great. But Baltimore not only shrinks, they forget
who they are. And here's Lamar after.

Speaker 6 (17:49):
We had a lot of slow stars anything, you know,
a lot of pennanties, turnovers, stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (17:56):
We can't have in these type of games.

Speaker 6 (17:58):
It's been that way for ever since last year, I believe,
you know, going back to the as a championship game,
we killed ourselves Chiefs game, the Open killed ourselves. Raiders,
we killed ourselves and today same thing. It's just like
we can't be beating ourselves in these type of games.
Got a fund way to figure that.

Speaker 7 (18:15):
I'm all glad was written and said about that office
coming into this game, and rightfully so. Man, there they
got a lot of talent, they got a lot of weapons,
they got good schematics. Our guys played hard and together,
and man, I'm appreciative of that.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
I gotta tell you something, Mike Tomlin's the coach of
the year.

Speaker 8 (18:31):
Now.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
Sean Payton has done incredible things in Denver. Sean Payton
would may by runner up. But Mike Tomlin's had a
great year. This has not been easy. You know when
you when you got it, you know when you're eight
and three and you know winning record and everybody that
everything is rolling. No, it's not. Go ask Jim Harbor
on the Chargers. You're battling through injuries, your battle. You know,
the media is on you. Mike Tomlin pulled Justin Fields

(18:53):
at I mean, here's a prime example of yesterday. Pittsburgh
gave Baltimore opportunities. They bring Justin Fields in and he's
to get big first already, slides early. Like Pittsburgh's game
was not clean. It was not a clean game by Pittsburgh.
But you know what in this matchup and it matters.
There were a lot of good teams. I mean, you know,

(19:15):
and Tom Brady or Peyton Manning's career, a big part
of everything is dominate your division. Peyton Manning, did Brady,
did you know Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay didn't he
lost half the games to Kirk Cousins. So and Baltimore's
had Old Big Ben, They've had Trubisky, They've had Justin Fields,

(19:35):
they have Russell Wilson, and Mike Tomlin has just kept
this puppy together. He's had a great year coaching. Keep
your eye on Sean Payton because right now bow knicks
and I'm not joking when I say this, bow knicks.
The last seven games has been the best of the
rookie quarterbacks. But Tomlin, as of this morning, he'd get
my vote coach of the Year. And Jay Mack with

(19:55):
a news No No is the herd line news Pittsburgh
game opportunities.

Speaker 2 (20:03):
They did, they did, they did well. Speaking coach of
the year. How about Dave Campbell? Does he get a vote?

Speaker 5 (20:07):
The Lions, Colin, oh my gosh, obliterated the Jaguars fifty
two to six yesterday. You combine that with the case
lost to Buffalo, and the new favorites to win the
Super Bowl are the Detroit Lions. Colin is the first
time in franchise history they are the favorite to win
the Super Bowl at plus three fifty.

Speaker 1 (20:26):
First seven drives, first seven drives touch. I mean it's
the Jags have quit.

Speaker 5 (20:30):
We know that, no.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
Question, But we keep saying this, like like when they
beat the Titans. The Titans are competitive against everybody. They
weren't against the Lions, so it's easy to just say, well,
they keep beating like the Titans. I'm watching the Titans
play every week. They're in every game. They weren't in
that one they got beat by thirty. This team's you know,
we say this before, the Lions have the best personnel

(20:53):
in the league. The Chiefs are the best situationally with
the best quarterback coach, and Buffalo's a little of bow
They have really good offensive personnel and it looks and
a superstar quarterback and a good coach and they're pretty
good situationally. But I think we have to acknowledge Detroit's
got the best personnel in the league. Jmac. And it
may be it feels like San Francisco about three years

(21:14):
ago when everybody that played San Francisco the following week lost. Yeah, like,
you play Detroit, they don't just beat you, they beat
you up.

Speaker 4 (21:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (21:23):
I mean, it's disappointing what's happened in Jacksonville, but they're
done and seeing Detroit just totally handle them. I six
hundred and forty five yards of total offense. I mean
every so they ran I think seventy six plays every
time they touched the ball. They average eight point five
yards per play for the whole game, and they were
barely passing in the fourth quarter. Column like this is
a juggernaut. I don't see how anybody thinks they're not

(21:45):
the favorites.

Speaker 4 (21:45):
They are.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
Yeah, Now will they win.

Speaker 1 (21:48):
The Super Bowls? A different question?

Speaker 5 (21:49):
Should they be the favorites because that defense, you know,
there's still some problems there. It's not going to show
up against Mac Jones and the Titans a couple of
weeks ago. But I like the Lions a lot, Colin,
and I'll be surprised if they're not on the Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
You know, it's it's the position on the football field.
We don't talk about offensive line, but there have only
been two or three great offensive lines in the last
ten to fifteen years in the NFL. This may be
the best of all of them. It's very close to
that Dallas O line that Dak when Dak came in
as a rookie and went thirteen and three and they

(22:22):
had Zeke and it was like every time Dak was
throwing it was second and three. You know third and one.
I mean Jared Goff perfect passer ratings. J Mack like
this is what he does now, he said, multiple perfect
passer rating games.

Speaker 5 (22:37):
It also helps the Lions that San Francisco's falling off.
I'm sure we'll get to them later in the show.
Like they've got problems.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
Eagles second best team in the NFC.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
Who's third?

Speaker 5 (22:47):
The Packers have looked ordinary the last few weeks.

Speaker 1 (22:50):
Washington's come back to the pack Now, I think it's
Detroit's the best team. I think Philadelphia is the only
roster the Eagles rosters, the only NFC roster that can
go Todas and you can play. You could have like
a Chargers Bengals game last night, just back and forth,
great quarterback play that this could go to Detroit and
winning in absolutely absolutely, But that's San Francisco is not

(23:11):
a special team anymore. And we all gonna be honest
about it. They're five and five. That's exactly what they
should be. They're just that.

Speaker 5 (23:18):
It's'll try to defend them later whenever we talk about
the Niners. But uh, let's get to the next story.
This is the Friday Night dud. Oh my gosh, Jake
Paul Mike Tyson. Yeah, we listen. We things we knew.
Mike Tyson was old, Jake Paul was half his age.
It didn't matter. Sixty million people watched on Netflix. A
lot of technical issues, shall we say. But after Paul

(23:38):
beat Tyson, the YouTuber said that iron Mike is the goat,
and then Mike Tyson proceeded to challenge Jake Paul's brother
Logan Paul to a fight.

Speaker 1 (23:51):
Yeah, forget the age for a second, because I saw
an old George Foreman do pretty cool things. Mike Tyson
loft lost half his blood in late July. I mean,
he almost died. I think if this fights in March,
but you know, they wanted to speed it up, right,
so they put it in November. I think, if this
fight's in March, you know Mike almost died. The first

(24:14):
couple rounds, you're like, okay, it's interesting. By the third
round you're like, oh, Mike's Mike's legs are done. He's done.
He looked like an old quarterback, like Mike didn't have
anything left. And I think Jake Paul I don't need
defend Jake Paul. So you guys can all say what
you want about Jake Paul. But I've said from the
very beginning, it's a redeemable career. Okay, he works hard,
he's into the craft. I totally respect him. Is he
a natural fluid all the like? No, that's not what

(24:36):
he is. And he probably didn't have the toughness historically
of a Joe Frazier or the gifts of Lennox. Lewis
hard working kid. He's figured out a brand. Go find older,
big name fighters. He wants Connor McGregor neck. He just
had Tyson. He went after a UFC guys. It's a
brand like I'm gonna go fight older guys with big names,

(24:57):
get in their ear, challenge him, mock them. Every nobody
comes in. But I will say this, I don't think
he's a great fighter. Yeah, but he did his job.
Tyson didn't have much. You know, Netflix is just trying
to figure out exactly was his job.

Speaker 2 (25:14):
Don't hurt the old guy?

Speaker 1 (25:15):
Well no, no, that's what it felt like. But his
job changed in the middle of the fight. Jake Paul
knew about the fourth fifth round this I could hurt him,
and Jake Paul had the self awareness to go. Nobody
in America wants to see me hurt and Mike Tyson.
And I'm gonna tell you a lot of guys get
in a ring and they don't think like that. Jake
Paul sensed nobody wants to see We all love the

(25:38):
old time listen. Tyson has his critics, but the old
legends in sports, you got a soft spot in your
heart for them. And I think Jake Paul knew I
could literally and my career knocking him out and being
a jerk. Do you hear him after the fight, Jake
Paul was like, he's a legend, he's the goat, so
much respect it.

Speaker 5 (25:55):
Almost did it not feel I don't want to say
staged or a little but after you're right after the
first two rounds, say Tyson has a chance.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
I think he hit him with a good lefe like
oh okay. A late third it was like Mike's legs
are done.

Speaker 2 (26:08):
They're done.

Speaker 5 (26:08):
Tyson starts with the biting the gloves and he's clearly
not his head, legs, nothing, he had nothing going. I
am on your point on Jake Paul. So this is
a guy who's not fighting any technical boxers, nobody even
you know in their prime. He's basically finding guys who
have clout social media following.

Speaker 1 (26:26):
Sure, and he's selling the fight that way.

Speaker 5 (26:28):
So he's a pretty good business man and timing is everything.
Like he could not have come Jack Paul could not
have been trying to do this crap in the nineties
against like Evandreil.

Speaker 1 (26:37):
Because in the nineties we had I mean, if you
go back when I was a kid growing up, it
was like all Leie Fraser, Ernie Shaberman Foreman, then later
Larry Holmes, there were just I mean, you could just
go ron Lyle. There was oh even the guys that
were like second tier guy Ken Norton, there were like
seven eight How in the world can I name all
of them? Because boxing had a bigger hold in America,

(27:00):
but the great athletes now a lot of them. Let's
be honest. If you want to get in the fight game,
you go to UFC and that's where you go now.
And UFC is a much better run business than boxing is.
That's why it's basically most of us don't watch boxing.
We watch UFC. YEA, you know, they know how to
run a card.

Speaker 5 (27:16):
Certainly, final story is a breaking news from This Morning
Colin that Daniel Jones era is over in New York,
Brian Dable announced he's switching quarterbacks. They called it a
necessary move. We know this is all about financials, and
instead of Drew Locke, Tommy DeVito will be QB one.

Speaker 1 (27:34):
I like this, stop I do. Drew lock is the backup.

Speaker 5 (27:37):
So that means Daniel Jones is now gonna be inactive
every week. They're doing it because if he gets hurt,
he's guaranteed twenty three million something like that.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
Tommy DeVito had the New York fans all worked up.
He was a great story. Listen, all is not lot.
You're very negative on the Giants. Now, they cleared up
sixty million cap space. They got a great left tackle,
excellent defensive line, the number one receiver, and an offensive coach.
They have to get Shadoor Sanders. This this is not Carolina.

(28:05):
They've got things I like their defensive line, pass rusher, weapon,
offensive coach. They have to upgrade the running back room,
and they got to get a quarterback. And the draft
gives you a lot of running backs in the third, fourth, fifth,
sixth rounds.

Speaker 5 (28:20):
So are you of the belief that the New York
Giants one of the blue bloods in the NFL. Is
that up to snuff for Deon Sanders. We had the
video last week again say yes I will work back tennels.
Yes you sure the Jets aren't the Giants are? The
Giants have.

Speaker 1 (28:34):
One still it off like Tom Coffins. They're having a
dry decade. But I will argue this all day. We
have seen what just a coach did the golf's career,
and just a coach has done to Justin Herbert's career.
Well look what a quarterback and the coach did to Houston.
Houston was in a far worse situation than New York.

(28:55):
They had a left tackle and a bunch of nonsense
and a kooky owner. An over night, Houston got the
right quarterback and you're like, oh Houston, fiamil so. I
I mean the Giants have like five of the seven
things you need. They got to get a better running game,
and they got to get a better quarterback, left tackle,
pass rusher, weapon coach.

Speaker 5 (29:14):
I like, it would be something interesting if the Giants
get the number one pick, the Jets end up with
like two or three, and Aaron Rodgers is like, I'm
coming back. Meanwhile, the Giants then get their new franchise
quarterback and the Jets are still in the wilderness. Life
is probably gonna have that is going on that last question. A.
Is Daniel Jones the starter next year? B? Since he's not,

(29:36):
where is he the backup? A?

Speaker 1 (29:38):
No, B, don't care? Wow, Well, I mean I this
never worked. I didn't like to pick. I didn't like
he won a playoff game in Minnesota, mean anything?

Speaker 2 (29:50):
Jmack with the News, Well, that's the news, and thanks
for stopping by the herd Line News.

Speaker 1 (29:56):
I don't want to give away all my good stuff.
I mean, I'm I've really barely been touched on the
good stuff today. But umm, Colin Wright, Colin Wrang and
Drew Brees top of the hour. I got a lot
of things to touch on the Niners. It's time for
a reboot. We said they peaked last year. Time for

(30:17):
a reboot. I don't think I'm overreacting. Secondly, it's pretty
bad when the Packers know more about the Bears kicker
then the Bears know about the Bears kicker. I'll explain
that coming up. How do you recognize elegant design? It's
all in the details. The twenty twenty five Genesis GV

Hurst the Cowboys take on the Commanders or other regional action.
Then in America's Game of the Week, Rock Perdy and
Christian McCaffrey lead the Niners against Jordan Love and the
Packers or Cardinals Seahawks.

Speaker 2 (31:13):
Check for the games in your area only on five.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
So here's the good news for the Bears. That loss
gets you a better draft pick. And it's a nail
in the coffin for this Bear staff. So bad franchises
find ways to lose games they should win. Chicago was
a better team yesterday. Yesterday they were They got rid
of Shane Walderen, the coordinator. Clearly it worked Caleb. They

(31:39):
scored on four of their first five drives. There were
no three and outs. I mean they schemed up easy
completions for Caleb. This is what we've been preaching for
three weeks. He's a rookie. Do what Sean Payton's doing
with bo Nicks screen up some layups and that allowed
him to be the great athlete he is. So the
Bears were better. They got the ball out quickly. It
was like, oh, the offensive coordinator who came with the

(32:01):
dicey reputation he was the problem, looked like a real team.
I mean they dominated time of possession. I mean green
Bay's excellent. Green Bay's the top ten organization, their top
three organization in the last twenty years, and they've dominated
this organization in Chicago. Chicago outplayed them. Chicago's offense with
a rookie quarterback looked pretty good. They dominate time of possession,
they were very good on third down. They did everything right.

(32:24):
But this is where we saw it in the Hail
Mary Close kid. This isn't college football. Most teams aren't
the Lions where they're bulldozing people. It comes down to
a series of situational, circumstantial moments. This is very interesting
a reporter, I imagine, I don't know who the reporter is.
Kaylan Kaylor said, just talk to several players on the

(32:47):
Packers field goal unit. All of them noticed that Bears kicker,
Cairo Santos, kicked with a low trajectory, so the Packers
thought the Bears would run an extra play to get closer,
so the kicker for the Bears wouldn't have to really
drive the ball with a lower trajectory. So once again,
the Packers knew the Bears kicker better than apparently the

(33:10):
Bears knew the tendencies of the Bears kicker. The Packers thought,
as the you know, Bears got the ball three minutes left,
they drove down, they could have run an extra play
get four to five six yards closer, right, And so
it's more of a popkick than a low you know,
It's like hitting an iron and golf. The further back
you go, the trajectory is often lower for a lot

(33:32):
of kickers. So the Bears apparently didn't watch the same
film that the Packers watched. And we said this on
the Hail Mary, you got that Bear guy playing around
John with fans details, Kansas City details, Buffalo details. This

(33:52):
is not college football. Chicago outplayed them, Chicago dominates time
of possession, yards, third down, Chicago's a better team. The
only thing you can take from it is we'll get
a better draft pick and for sure this is another
look what the staff did. But the hail Mary play
which shouldn't have happened, and that which shouldn't have happened.
That's the difference between six and four. The city's alive

(34:17):
and you're very much in the playoff race and four
and six and now you're the cowboys of the Saints
two place. End of the game. Details my entire life,
I've seen this. It doesn't matter if it's my business,
your business. The best bosses pay attention to the little
stuff because the little stuff becomes bigger stuff and can

(34:40):
become a huge absess like that hail Mary. That was
a sign these guys aren't buttoned up. Washington was buttoned up.
You think the hail Mary's all luck? No, it's not.
You think blocking kicks the week before Kansas City did
it on Denver. It's not luck. It is coaching, It

(35:01):
is film study, it is preparation. The packers said, you know,
we thought they were going to, you know, get in
our six yards. Then you can make it more of
a pooch kick. So here's Matt Eberflues.

Speaker 8 (35:11):
After they were loading the box there, you know, so
you could you could say you could do that for sure,
maybe get a couple more yards, but y'all score risk,
you know, you know, fumbling and different things there. We
felt where we were, you know, if we had the
thirty six or thirty five, you know, you're definitely doing
that because you want to get an inside there. I
felt very confident where we were at that time.

Speaker 1 (35:33):
Yeah, and they felt really comfortable on that Hail Mary too,
So well, you get a better draft pick, all right.
For the last like five or six years, we've kind
of looked at the San Francisco forty nine ers the
way we look at Detroit now, like they got more
good dudes. But I had said coming into the season,
I said, you guys, they're getting old, they're getting banged up,

(35:55):
and they're getting expensive. And Brock pretty's fine. It may
look like a great roster and right now you don't
need brock Party to be great, but today they do,
and he's fine. And that's all the forty nine ers are.
They're just fine. They're a five hundred team. Remember their
defense used to be great, especially situationally. Now it's the

(36:16):
second worst to the Cincinnati Bengals in the league. In
the final two minutes of the fourth quarter. They're red
zone offense pedestrian. They don't fool people, they don't overpower people.
Gino Smith look very comfortable driving Seattle down the field.
I mean, as I was watching that, I'm like, yeah,
Gino's been in this spot many times. Big kid, good
arm can move a Gino look comfortable. And it happens

(36:38):
in the NFL. We say this very quickly a lot
of times. In the NBA, if a dynasty breaks up
or its egos or its contracts, like it looks like Boston,
the Celtics will have like a four year run here
of being great, but eventually somebody will get too old.
They'll move somebody off. You kind of keep your core,
you move the pieces, but in football, you're getting tackled.
And so I mean that Seahawk dynasty got old, right

(37:01):
like or Harball Leaves doesn't get along with the general manager.
Leaves goes to Michigan and all of a sudden you
hire somebody and that it goes into the tank. Because
football is the one sport where coaching matters. This is
not a knock on Kyle Shanahan, although I didn't think
he's had a great couple of weeks of coaching and
once again San Francisco's special teams. I mean, just close

(37:22):
your eyes, cross your fingers, and pray. If you're a
Bay Area football fan, just jimy, it's not great. Just pray.
This isn't the week it beats you again. But everybody
kept saying I was one of these. Wait till Christian
McCaffrey gets back. He's the magic. He's back. No touchdowns
two games, the red zone offense still just nothing, and
they have not beaten a team with a winning record.

(37:43):
They're just another team with a really big brand, cool uniforms.
But here's a prime example. Christian McCaffrey comes back. Oh
now George Kittle's missing. Well, of course he use and
George is great, but man, nfl old expensive, banged up.
It happens really fast. And this is one of the
ones we predicted. I said at the end of last year.

(38:03):
They're just missing guys too often. It's Trent, it's George,
it's Debo, it's Christian. I'm not blaming him, it's football.
But and brock perty is fine, he's fine. But that's
all the Niners are now, they're fine. You watched Detroit, Buffalo,
Kansas City that's Pittsburgh. That's not what they are. They
were arguably better, but that's not what they are. And

(38:27):
here's Geno Smith. Say what you will. He's been in
this spot a lot. For the record, j Max just
saw the Arizona and Seattle both went to Santa claren one.
It's not happenstance, it's not bad breaks. San Francisco is
just okay, here's Geno after. It's big, you know, but
it's one win.

Speaker 5 (38:47):
Oh we got a bid off of this, you know.

Speaker 6 (38:48):
I think our team we showed a lot of fight,
we showed a lot of heart, especially Dad.

Speaker 2 (38:51):
Then, man, it's great.

Speaker 1 (38:52):
I loving the balls in my hand at the end
of the game.

Speaker 2 (38:54):
Man, what more could you ask for?

Speaker 1 (38:56):
Uh, it does not get easier. It does not get
Not only is the Geno touchdown bad news and good
for him, but over the next several weeks, the Niners
go two green Bay and two Buffalo ll especially the
way green Bay lost, and then you get Chicago and
the Rams at home, and then it's at Miami Detroit
at Arizona. Oh my bad?

Speaker 4 (39:20):
The heck?

Speaker 1 (39:20):
Am I talking about green Bay one?

Speaker 2 (39:22):
That game?

Speaker 1 (39:23):
So now it goes Now it's at Buffalo. So San
Francisco now is at Buffalo, Chicago, LA at Miami, long
trip Detroit. That's an L. At Arizona one, two, three, four, five, six,
let's say they win three of them. What are they?

(39:43):
I mean?

Speaker 4 (39:43):
What?

Speaker 1 (39:46):
Yeah? No, wait time out, Wait a minute, you confuse me, Ryan,
Let me look at the schedule again. So yeah, are
you seeing this? So let's just say this, No, they do.
San Francisco goes to green Bay. At green Bay, that's
an L. They can win that game.

Speaker 2 (40:01):
No, they're not.

Speaker 1 (40:02):
They're not going win that game. They're gonna go to Buffalo.
That's an L. So that's five and seven, will give them,
will give them Bears rams seven and seven. They're not
beating Miamis, they're not beating Detroit. I'm gonna go right now,
eight and nine. That's what they are.

Speaker 5 (40:15):
Did you shoot the Shanahan decision yesterday? The cowardly decision
to punt the ball fourth and six, Like, if you
can't get six yards, you don't trust any of your
special teams. Guys, you're on your backup hunter, your kicker,
you can't trust him. Shanahan was just coaching scaredly. This
is another fourth quarter that Kyle Shanahan screwed up. Colin
Niners got some big problems because you know who they got.

Speaker 2 (40:36):
To pay this offseason. Brock Perty's waiting for that big mon.

Speaker 1 (40:38):
He's not gonna get it. You're gonna do it? You can't.

Speaker 2 (40:40):
I don't know what you're gonna give him.

Speaker 1 (40:41):
You don't have to pay him next year, do you?

Speaker 5 (40:43):
You got to pay him something this offseason?

Speaker 1 (40:44):
Yeah? I don't tell you. He wants money. Oh, I
will say this simultaneously. You start looking at that division. Now,
the Rams are young and getting better, Arizona is young
and getting better. Who's the old team? The old team
San Francisco and they gave up three first round picks

(41:06):
for Trey Lance. You know what, they could use three
great first round picks
