Speaker 1 (00:01):
The volume.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
You know, third, you.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
Don't through the championship. That should always be the expectations
a man.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Actually go ahead.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
Welcome back to the Richard Sherman Podcast. We have an
incredible guest today, you Jean Sarah Smith the second. What
I don't realize is a lot of your teammates didn't
even know your real name. I was like, they did
like a little questionnaire early in training camp and dudes
were like, wait, who's man, what is Geno's real name?

Speaker 2 (00:37):
And I was like, let the people know.

Speaker 4 (00:41):
Yeah, the third, the third, the third, third, Yeah, yeah, no, yeah,
my locker is actually yeah, I made him put Eugene Smith,
so my teammates could, uh you name?

Speaker 2 (00:56):
I love it. I love it. Well. You gotta walk
me through that last drive.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
You just went in god mode and took over that
game with your legs, with your arm. You were seventh
p eight passing and then closed that one out and
then hit the hit the Steph Curry.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
You was in us all, yeah, man, you know, our
team was playing so well going throughout the game, you
know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
I just felt like we had to get it done.
And I was.

Speaker 4 (01:20):
Actually just smiling as I was running on the field
for that last driven I just.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Kind of I knew it, you know, I knew who
we were gonna win. Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:26):
Somewhere in the third quarter, I looked over to the
bench and I saw a kJ standing over there. I
was like, what the you know what I mean, I'm like, man,
we gotta beat these boys. I saw kJ. It just
kind of pissed me off a little bit. You know,
he's a Seahawk man. He shouldn't have those colors on.
But uh, yeah, the old line played grade. I thought
the defense played phenomenal yesterday. Man, they kept us in
the game. They might made some big kicks, and then
I was able to, you know, go out there and

(01:48):
we were able to punch it in at the end
we needed it.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
How was it because you your growth and your ascension?
I mean it's it's gonna be books and dissertations written
on development of just quarterbacks and just staying with it.
Your your resilience, your consistency, persistence, and the ability to
almost have like a second career within your career. Can

(02:12):
you talk to me just about because that's been a
bit such a big conversation in the NFL this year
with all these young guys playing and some of them
struggling and guys calling them busts four or five games
into their day careers. I mean, you are somebody who's
dealt with it personally and being able to come out
and blossom into the Pro Bowl player you are. Now,
can you talk to that?

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (02:32):
And you know I did it in the biggest media
market there is in New York, and you know a
lot of times, you know, for young guys, you get labeled,
and uh, that's the worst thing that can happen for
anybody is when they put a label on you and
they come with all these negative connotations. And so you
know what you have to do is you got to
stick to your process. You got to be you know,
really STEATI fast in your belief in yourself. And then

(02:52):
obviously it takes a ton of hard work. It's not easy.
You know, this stuff takes hard work. You know, I
was just in the weight room, you know, working on
on myself and get myself prepared.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
And there's a.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
Process to it. Quarterback and is more of a skill
than it is a talent. A lot of guys in
the league can play off talent, and you play quarterback
and you play at the highest level. You have to
develop the skill and there's a lot of nuances to that,
but you know, it takes experience, it takes time, and
you got to give these guys very.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Greg Olsen, I think it was on the broadcast it
said you're one of the best arm talents and most
accurate passers in the NFL. And you know what I mean,
Not that his word means anything, but it just feels
good to just hear somebody talk about what an immense
talent you are, because everybody talks about the feel good
story like you just some feel good like. No, this

(03:39):
ain't like feel good. This dude is a talented human being.
That's why he's in the position, that's why he broke
all those records in college. So talk about how good
it feels to just see your all the hard work
culminate and your talent blossom and also be appreciated in Seattle.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
You know, it means the world to me, and it's
why I work as hard as I do. Just the
organization having faith in me, Coach Carroll, you know, having
faith in me, John Snyder, having faith in me when
not many people did, and for them to recognize the
talent for them to evaluate me and to see, hey,
this guy can do it, and to put that trust
to me. And then you know, obviously for all the
fans and everybody like yourself, to get behind me and

(04:18):
just give me that confidence I needed. You know, it
makes me feel great. And then you know, g O
Greggs my guy. Guy, Man, he and I had a
hell of a day. He all tell this story for
the rest of his life. But we had a day
in practice where we went off.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Man.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
I was on scout team quarterback and he was playing
the Scout team tight end and he might have had
like two hundred yards that day. You know, That's that's
why he always tells that story. And you know, I
believe in myself. I believe in my arm talent. I
believe in my accuracy. I think that's showing on the tape.
But most importantly, man, just the opportunity is what matters
to me.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
I mean, you could show a highlight reel of some
of the posts that you've thrown, and I mean just
don's drops in a bucket. I mean, go route into
a new emerging talent. Say everybody knows how talent jsc
is and was. You know, that's why he drafted him
so high, but he in the last few weeks, it
just seems like you guys' connection has really really solidified.

(05:12):
You know, DK being out probably helped, you know, you
have to rely on him a little bit more, but
he's been really consistent.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
Yeah, he's uh, he's blosso man, He's coming into his
own right now. And you know the best thing about
him is how how tough he is man Like to
play in that slot. You know, you got to go
up against linebackers, You got to save these guards and
use sometime corners, and you gotta be tough manna probably
you know, take a couple of hits here and there
and got to keep getting up. And I think just
his fight overall, just the way that he fights throughout
the game. He's a smart player, He's talented, and uh, shoot,

(05:41):
we got so many great guys man, even like you know,
I feel like t Lockman just you know, he how
legendary he is.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
It always like just goes under the radar.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
But like just all the things that Lockett has done
from his in his career here and who he is now, man,
it just it makes Jackson's job that much easier.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Yeah, I mean It's just funny because he talks about
being the old man. And I just remember his rookie
year when we drafted him and him coming in and
you know, he had maybe three moves, three releases to
his name, and I used to just be like, hey, hey,
we gotta work on this.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
We gotta work on this.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
You ain't gonna be And I always told him, I
was like, look, dealing with me is gonna be a
lot harder than everybody else you deal with. I know
you, you're gonna be like my little brother. I study every
move you make. I watch your film religiously because I
gotta make sure you never beat me.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
These other dudes ain't be able to do you.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
Like this, yes, sir, and that that stuff paying off,
that paid off for him. And he always speaks about
you and Doug and just how how y'all. Uh, you know,
we're big brothers to him, and you know that's that's
why he's a guy.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
He is man.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
Yeah, he's an all time great. And then d K,
I mean, did you see that picture they posted on Twitter?

Speaker 3 (06:48):
Which one I didn't see it. I didn't see it.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
I said, why is it all of you three?

Speaker 1 (06:54):
I think the Seahawks might have tweeted it and then
it was like we solemnly swear that we are up
to no good, and it was, uh, yes, I said, y'all,
it's just sick.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
But I love it.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Yeah, I love it, man, DK.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
Men like just coming back after the injury and then
playing the way he played, man Like, you could tell, man,
they don't want to guard him out there. Man, he's
such a he's such a physical specimen.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
Man, guys out there scared of Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
He's an alien and he mean he mean I played
against him when he was a rook and he tried
to bully ball me. I said, hey, I'm a grown
man now, DK. Now like, but I like the spirit.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Talk about his attitude because I don't really like how
people talk about him, you know what I mean, Because
he gets frustrated and he goes on his stuff. But
I think it's just like Dan's used to be, you
know what I mean. Some guys just care. They want
to win. They want to win more than anything. He's
not like, oh I'm being selfish, give me the bass,
Like I want to win.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
Yeah, And that's who he is, man Like, he's a competitor.
You gotta think.

Speaker 4 (07:52):
Man, his dad was office alignment, so all that stuff,
that bullyball that's in him, Like he was bred that way.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
And yeah, he wants to win so so badly.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
He does all the little things, Like people don't realize
how hard this man works, and just the hours that
he puts in. And to come back from that injury,
you know, in two weeks, and to go out and
play the way that he did, man like that takes
a special player and a special person.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
And he's a leader, you know what I'm saying. In
this locker room.

Speaker 4 (08:16):
He's always saying the right things and doing the right things.
And that's why he is, in my opinion, top five
or one of the best receivers in the game.

Speaker 5 (08:24):

Feed your lawn, Feed it, and I'm gonna take you
back a couple weeks to that that when y'all had
against Atlanta and K nine, I think it was a
K nine touchdown run and DK was just aj Terrell.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
He kind of like devoted him, and it kind of
looked like he did it on purpose. Did you ever
talk to him about that?

Speaker 4 (11:03):
Man, if you see it, like once Cameine scored, he
hit him with like the too small celebration and uh yeah, man,
he did it on purpose, like he just I'm like, man,
this dud's out controlling people like in real time mid game.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
I'm like, man, that's different.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
That's totally different. That's totally different. Well you know what
else is different. You're such an incredible, like amazing humble
dude leader.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
But Twitter gino a little different. Twitter is a little different.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
I like it.

Speaker 4 (11:31):
Yeah, man, you I like to have some fun, you know,
I like to have some fun. It's all within the
you know, the construct of the game.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
Man.

Speaker 4 (11:36):
I just like to have fun. And you know, we
all talk a little crap from time to time.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
Look you're preaching to the choir here.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
Man, Yeah. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
So you you have retweeted Diamador Lenor's tweet from a
couple of years ago, and I just love the pettiness
level of it.

Speaker 4 (11:51):
I just like, yeah, I mean we had to, man,
we had to. I do respect this game. I think
he's a really good player. He's a young player who's
doing some great things. But man, he talks a lot
of stuff out there.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
But that's that's what rivalries are. That's where rivalries are.
You supposed to make it spicy, you know, it just
shows you care. That's what it felt. It felt like
one of those old rivalries. Man Like, we're out there
ready to throw fists.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Man Like.

Speaker 4 (12:14):
It was just one of those games where we know
it's a stake, they know what's at stake, they know us,
we know them, and it's gonna come down to, you know,
a last last play of the game type deal.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
Well, speaking of coming down to the to the wire,
I mean, it looks like this NFC West is just
tiding knots. Everybody's right there. You guys are five and five.
The San Francisco forty nine ers five and five, The
Cardinals are six and four. I think the Rams are
maybe five and five. What's what's it gonna take? Because
I know at times this season it's felt like, you know,
at least from the fans perspective, they're like all is lost.

(12:45):
They lost a couple of games and then they win.
You guys win a game and then they're like, well,
we're going to the Super Bowls.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
Like, how is the season felt inside the building?

Speaker 4 (12:53):
It's felt business as usual. We understand we're on a
mission and there's a process to it. This is coach
McDonald's first year as a head coach, and that's not
to make an excuse, but there's a lot of things
that we have to learn together. And like you said, man,
it's gonna be a race to the finish. You know,
we got seven games left. You know, everyone in our
division is pretty much have you know, the same record,

(13:16):
and we're gonna have to play these guys, you know,
at least once or twice. So you know, this seven
game stretch is gonna feel like play Each game is
gonna be a playoff.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
Game, which is good.

Speaker 4 (13:24):
You know, it's gonna prepare us for these moments and
for the playoffs. And so we're taking one game at
a time. I'm treating it like a playoff game. It's
every division game is going to be that much more important,
and we got to.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
Go out there. We got to make it happen.

Speaker 4 (13:36):
You know, we get a home game this week, I
expect the crowd to be loud and get into it.
You know, our fans, we love them and they support
us always. So it's time, you know, it's time for
us to get rolling.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
It's definitely time. Can you talk about the relationship. You know,
obviously you're the quarterbacks are dealing with offensive coordinators. You
guys are probably you know, twenty three hours a day,
you know, back and forth. What is your relationship with
like with Ryan grub and how different is it because
he came from college and didn't had never coordinated an
NFL offense. Did you did you feel like there was

(14:07):
a difference there or was it business as usual because
it seemed like y'all were running like a little bit
of hurry up, like college style, y'all y'all jump in,
jump out, a hurry up. Was that his influence or
something you wanted to do?

Speaker 3 (14:19):
Yeah, that's that's what they did at Washington.

Speaker 4 (14:21):
Pretty much wherever he's been, he's had a good tempo
package and he had a way for really just to
give the quarterback answers. You know, you want to have
an answers to the test out there at quarterback, and
you want to be.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
Able to process things quickly.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
You know, you only got a certain amount of time,
So when you're getting certain formations or you do a
shift or motion, the defense has to react a certain way,
which would give you a certain tale.

Speaker 3 (14:42):
And you know what Grub does is he allows.

Speaker 4 (14:44):
Us as quarterbacks to get up to the line of scrimmage,
see the defense, call the player that we like, and
allow the playmakers go out there and make plays. I
think there's adjustments that he's making. Obviously, going from college
to the pros, the possessions are less. You don't get
ninety plays, we get about sixty on average, you know,
so that that that heightens, you know, each down is

(15:05):
that much more important. And so you got a big
you know, picky and your spots of when you want
to do certain things. When you want to temple. You
can't go temple all the time. You know, you need
your defense to get rest. You don't want them, you know,
on the field the entire game. So just figuring out
those things and working out things, I think we're doing
a great job at that and his communication has been great.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
That's awesome. That's awesome.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
What what were if any of the adjustments during the
bye week, because obviously from the outside looking in, and
we're not in the building. I'm not in the building.
You know, I got people I talked to. But when
you when you hear the Connor Williams news, you know,
you hear the leading tackler on defense gets gets gets cut,
gets released and they trade for Ernest Johnson, I mean

(15:45):
Ernest Jones a few weeks ago. What are the thoughts
going there to your because the Connor Williams stuff seem
the rest of it kind of made sense, you know,
obviously Mike explained it, but the Connor Williams stuff kind
of caught me by surprise at least. And you know,
rarely do you ever hear about it player tiring, the
mental season obviously, Vonte Davis r I P.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
You know that mid game.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
Retirement was crazy. But yeah, but but the Connor Williams
news just seemed to odd. He's twenty seven, He's young, dude.
You know, even when you're struggling sometimes you you know,
everybody goes through their their their slumps and you know,
ups and downs in football.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
But that just seemed to odd.

Speaker 4 (16:21):
Yeah, I think for Connor Mann, like you know, mental
health and we always talk about this, but it's it's
it's the most important thing. It's it's number one on
our priority list and and Connors our brother, and he
was hurting.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
Man.

Speaker 4 (16:33):
You know, I don't want to go into too much depth,
but that was the decision that he felt he needed
to make. You know, he called me and we talked
about it, and I told him that I would support
him in whatever he did. And you know, I appreciate
his hard work and everything that he's done for protecting
me and you know, just going to practice.

Speaker 3 (16:49):
Every day and laying it on the line.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
And so you know, when guys make those type of decisions, yeah,
I mean, it sucks in the moment, you know, and
you want to feel I feel for those guys because
I know how much of a a struggle that could
be and how tough things are. But we got to
keep it rolling. We got to keep going. You know,
we're on a mission and it's always next man up.
And I thought Olu stepped in and did a great job.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
I thought so too. Another addition that you got to
your offensive line. Abe, Lucas is back, and you know
that that had to be be you know, feel good
to get him back. There's obviously been rotation, some injuries
at the right tackle position, but talk about how cool
of a player he is, because I mean, during his
rookie year, him and Cross were really like the Bash brothers.

(17:31):
Brothers out there, and I was really impressed with him.

Speaker 4 (17:33):
Yeah, I think a man like because he's missed so
much time, people kind of forget just how much of
an impact he has on our offense and how much
of a factor he is in games. You could see
him out there going one on one with Bosa, and
I mean, you know, he's he's he's so big and
strong man. He's a physical player and he's athletic, like
a gentle giant almost like we call him a human

(17:54):
Viking because just the way he is. But like, I mean,
he's a massive dude out there. So when he's out
there anchoring and you like, it's hard on those guys.
And I thought Mike Durell stepped in and played the
great game as well. Man like to be undrafted and
to be thrust into this, you know, role and this opportunity,
he might not have expected it, but he's out there,
he's battling, he's competing.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
He helped us get that win.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
No question, no question.

Speaker 1 (18:16):
Speaking of Bosa when he went out with an injury,
it just seemed like the offense ignited. You know, did
you did you sense a difference or did you guys
talk about that at all on the sideline, because it
just seemed like things started really rolling once he went
out the game.

Speaker 4 (18:30):
Yeah, I think, you know, for the most part, we
were moving the ball even when he was in there.
But you know, he's such a great player. He just
makes those one or two you know, impact players. You know,
gets the sack here and there, put you behind the
chains and that's when it gets, you know, tough on you.
And you know, I think obviously when he's out of
the game, yeah, that's not the same impact. I mean,
it's just the reality of it.

Speaker 3 (18:48):
But however, it win.

Speaker 4 (18:50):
If he was in there, he was out, We're gonna
find a way to win. We we had it on
our minds. It was, you know, our mindset was like,
no matter what we gotta do, we gotta win. And
unfortunately for him, you know, he got injured. You know,
hope the best for him, but we knew it was
right for us. Yeah, right on time for us.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
Can you talk about the secondary play. You know what,
Devin Witherspoon was playing incredible. Obviously he had the tipped
interception to Hankins, but it just overall, it just seemed
Kobe Bryant, all those guys are you know, Julian Love,
They're they're all playing at a really high level and
within Mike McDonald's scheme. Especially this game. I mean, it
just looked like the windows were tight. They were they
were swarming, they were running well, they were covering. Well,

(19:31):
what did you think of them?

Speaker 2 (19:33):
Now?

Speaker 4 (19:33):
I thought the defense played phenomenal. I thought the secondary
was outstanding. Man. I know they held de bow and check.
I thought Jennings, you know, he had a pretty nice day.
But for the most part, there on him too. And
I mean those guys you can see, like Spoon the
way he's leading the group his second year, but I
see him involving, like he's really stepping into like who
he's going to be in this league and playing in

(19:54):
the nickel.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
He's playing outside. He's doing it all man.

Speaker 4 (19:57):
And then Jay Love is like the big brother out there,
like you know, the adult in the room, and he's
always always in the right spots.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
Man.

Speaker 4 (20:05):
He's you know, he's making checks and doing communicating well.
And then you know, you got to think about adding
Earnest to the mix. I mean, Earnest stepping in there
doing what he's doing. I think it all works well.
The past rush is there. Everything like just complimented each other,
and I thought they did a great job.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
Man, they held him in check.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
Whether you're ordering wings for the game, whipping up seven
layer dip, or ordering pizza, there's something about football that
makes you want to eat.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
In this football season, Uber Eats has the best deals
on game day food, no matter what you're craving, from
two for one pizza to buy one get one wings.
Uber Eats will be dropping new deals each week all
season long. Hooper Eats the official on demand delivery partner
of the NFL. Order now for game day Terms and
conditions apply. See app for details. Okay, now the stuff

(20:55):
that nobody wants to talk about, but old Sherm and
even Gino's not going to answer this question. Great because
he's such a great and politician in this but they
got to pay you your money. I mean, Daniel Jones
just went on the bench getting forty million dollars and
people was arguing about the thirty million you was getting.

(21:16):
You know, now quarterbacks that just got sixty You know,
I don't even know what I'm wasting my time asking
this question.

Speaker 4 (21:24):
Because I know what you Hey, sure man, you know
how I mean. You gotta earn it, man, Like everything
I ever got in my life, I earned, and I'm
okay with earning whatever. You know, whatever guy has for me. Man,
I'm willing to go earn it. And so how do
I feel about myself? Yeah, I feel like I'm up
there with the top two quarterbacks. My numbers speak for me.

(21:45):
My film says it too. But the main thing I'm
trying to do is win these next seven games.

Speaker 3 (21:50):
I could. You know, after that, we'll figure everything else
out wherever.

Speaker 4 (21:54):
I'll be playing football until I'm forty, so you know
I'm not retiring that after next year, so I'll be
playing getting better. And I love Seattle, but you know
we gotta win these next seven games.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
Well, well I'm gonna speak for you know. It's Seattle.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
Pay the man is money, you know, so he can
be here for the for the foreseeable future, not getting
no high draft pick. Why he's here because he's playing
too well, so you might as well appreciate him. Why
he here paying his money so he can continue to
lead these men. They respecting, they love him. He's doing
an amazing job. Paying his money and then maybe maybe
get him an offensive lineman or tour in the draft.

(22:28):
But that's a story for a different day. I'm just here.

Speaker 3 (22:31):
Hey, I gotta I gotta get to be my agent.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
Man.

Speaker 3 (22:34):
We got to talk after this, man, we gotta figure
that out.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
I'm happy. I'm happy to be your spokesman, Ben, I'm
happy to be the spokesman. Sir.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
What else are you doing outside of football? Let's talk
about the outside life of you know, whether it's investments,
whether your hobbies. Because people think we're just football players
and after that we just turn our lives off and
we just reset back on and go play football and
then we turn everything off.

Speaker 2 (22:57):
But that's not how it works.

Speaker 4 (22:59):
Yeah, I mean, I'm very active in my community back
home in South Florida, in Miami, Florida.

Speaker 3 (23:04):
You know, I lend a lot of my time to
the youth, to the kids.

Speaker 4 (23:08):
My mom, she has a foundation and it's called Parents
Without Partners where she helps single parents and new mothers
and stuff like that, you know, just kind of get
on their feet.

Speaker 3 (23:18):
She helps them with job applications and such. And for me.

Speaker 4 (23:21):
Man, like just I mean, I'm a big brother, you know,
I'm the oldest in my family, and so like just
taking care of my family is like my main thing
is my community is like the biggest thing for me.
And just being active and being present, you know, back
home as well as here in Seattle. We got a
Thanksgiving drive coming up soon, Christmas drive we'll be at
Seattle Children's and then you know, my free time, man,
I'm hanging out with my son, hanging out with the boys, pooping,

(23:44):
you know what I mean, doing regular old thirty year
old man stuff. You know, just you know, living life. Man,
We live in a dream.

Speaker 2 (23:50):
I love it. I love it.

Speaker 1 (23:51):
Are you going after you're done at age forty five?
Are you gonna coach your son?

Speaker 3 (23:57):
I'm coaching them now. You know, I've been coaching for
a while.

Speaker 4 (23:59):
Actually I was a I was able to, you know,
coach a couple of my little league team. And now
that these guys are freshmen in high school now and
they're just out there balling out.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
Shout out to.

Speaker 4 (24:07):
Jeremiah Smith, my little cousin. You know all those guys,
man Jojoe out down at u UM, Chance down at UM.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
You know. CJ.

Speaker 3 (24:15):
Bailey, freshman quarterback at in c State.

Speaker 4 (24:18):
We got a lot of we got dad's guys, freshman
running back North Carolina. We got a program bring them
down there now, we got a program inn But yeah,
I'll be coaching, man, I'll be coaching.

Speaker 3 (24:26):
I love this game and I'll be in it for
the rest of my life.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
Do you think you have ambitions of being like a coordinator,
because it seems like a lot of quarterbacks are starting
to get go into coordinator roles after they've done Obviously
O'Connor was the biggest one right now that I can
think of, but a lot of quarterbacks are. You know,
y'all understanding of the game is just different than everybody else's.

Speaker 4 (24:47):
Yeah, I feel like I could be a coordinator right now,
to be honest, probably a head coach, definitely in college.
You know the pros I don't know, but I know that,
you know, I could call plays right now. I've got
enough experience. I've seen enough of the game. I know
the direction of where the game going. You know, I
know what they're trying to do now, and there's ways
to counter all these things. And you know, you got
to build a system for your quarterback, and I think

(25:08):
that would be the hardest part is just developing that.
And you know, developing players and communication and all that.
But as far as x's and those go, I think
I'm pretty good with that.

Speaker 1 (25:16):
Yeah, I think so too. And that's showing on the
football field. And like I always say, when when we
get back on here every week, you know, I mean
you no offense to offensive line. Love you guys. You
guys are doing a great job. You guys did a
solid job last week. But you know, some of these games,
I see you get hit twelve thirteen, fourteen times. You know,
people at your feet and you're still delivering from weird
arm angles, weird foot angles. Your footwork ain't where it

(25:38):
need to be because you got people diving at your
feet and you still dropping dimes. Like it just seems like,
no matter what the circumstances are, you don't make excuses.
You don't you don't complain, you don't blame nobody. You
take all the accountability. And I'll tell you, as a
as a as a fan, as somebody who who's been
a part of the game and part of the NFL,
I got a lot of respect for that, man, I

(25:58):
got a lot of respect for how you approach the
game and how you've elevated it.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
Yeah, I think that's the best way. Man.

Speaker 4 (26:04):
You just gotta you know, if you really want to
be great, if you want to be your best self,
you gotta eliminate all distractions and all excuses. And there can,
you know, be many reasons or you know why you
don't do something well. But you know, if you internalize it,
then you figure it out yourself and you try to say,
how can I get better? It just makes you a
better player. And I've gained a lot of experience this year.
The guys that we're playing with, they're doing a great job.

(26:26):
And you know, as long as we win, man, I
don't care how it goes. We just got to figure
it out.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
You've become such a pocket passer.

Speaker 1 (26:33):
It's almost like they surprised that you that you get
out there and take off on them every now and then.

Speaker 2 (26:37):
But it seemed like a little part of you.

Speaker 1 (26:39):
There's been some games at home where you've taken off
where I'm like, he taking surprise to show on these boys,
like hey, I still got it, I still got these plays.

Speaker 4 (26:48):
I gotta pick and choose my spots. Man, I can't
do it all game. You know, I'm thirty, I'm thirty four.
I can't just be out there running around them. Hand
me start to start burning. But you know, I pick
my spots and you know, if there's a chance for
me to get out and betting the defense with my legs.

Speaker 3 (27:01):
Man, you know how hard.

Speaker 4 (27:02):
It is, you know, obviously to cover these guys, and
then once you cover a guy and the quarterbacks running
just pisses those guys off. So the more I can
do it, yeah, the more I can do it, the
better we'll be on offense.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
No question. Well, I don't want to take too much
more of your time. I notice y'all day. I really
appreciate all the time. If you got any questions for me,
I'm happy to answer them. But I really appreciate, sincerely,
you're taking out the time you just played yesterday, had
to travel back and do all that, and I'm taking
you out of your routine.

Speaker 3 (27:29):
So it's greatly you fine, brother, Agent Fees. We'll talk
about that later.

Speaker 2 (27:32):
Though, we'll talk about that later. I keep it a
low yes, serious, all right, brother, you have.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
A beautiful day and a great week, and good luck
this week gets the Cardinals.

Speaker 3 (27:42):
That's sir, you two, my brother.

Speaker 2 (27:43):
I appreciate you

Speaker 1 (28:02):
