Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome back to the Richard Sherman Podcast, presented to you
by our friends and partners over at Brightly always keeping
us right, keeping it tight, and we gonna keep it light.
It was a great I want to say great. I
don't want to say great after seeing what the San
Francisco forty nine Ers did in Green Bay and lambeau Field.
(00:24):
But I did love what the Seattle Seahawks put on tape.
It was just a tough week. I know your Honolulu
Blue Detroit Lions battled it out, did their thing. Mitchell,
how you feeling.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
I'm feeling magical. I mean, first off, Richard live from London.
I know you're on a little family vak. This shows
the subscribers of the Richard Sherman Podcast. Richard is currently
in London one am right now. That is dedication, giving
you guys what you need after these Sunday night games.
The Lions have won nine straight games or ten to one.
(00:58):
They've allowed twelve points in the last two and a
half games combined. I mean, but I was so optimistic
about the San Francisco forty nine Ers coming into this weekend.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
Playing against my division foe.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
When the Green Bay Packers I'm thinking, okay, you know,
hopefully the Niners can give the Packers some trouble and
take take a win out of.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
Lamba with them. But that was not the case, Richard.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
They got plenty of excuses that they can point blame to,
with the no Bosa, no Purdy, no Tran Williams, no
Tarvarius Ward, obviously Brandon Ayuk being out for the season,
but this one was ugly. They just couldn't get their
feet under them, and the Packers took advantage. Richard, this
was bad, Like, what do you when does it end?
(01:39):
Does it get any worse than this for the Niners.
I don't know if it gets any worse. But what
The thing that just hurt me more than anything was attackling,
Like there were fifteen miss tackles in the first half alone.
I just have never seen it from me, these same
(02:00):
men in these jerseys. Now there are some new faces,
some new people on the d line, but fifteen misstackles
in the game is mind boggling. But fifteen and a
half of football, I mean, it was disappointing to watch.
It was disappointing to feel, I mean feel helpless. You
(02:24):
feel helpless watching it happen. Because Josh Jacobs just was
doing whatever he wanted.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
I mean, it looked like two or three guys have
a hold of him and he just runs through the tackle.
I mean it was demoralizing consistently, and that was just
the first drive of the game that he was doing
is he was. I think he had seventy seven yards
in the first quarter or something like that, and it
just seemed like they had no answer to stop him.
He was hitting the first level, second level, third level,
and they were just really taking the hearts of the
(02:53):
San Francisco forty nine ers. I think their first drive
may have been seven minutes, and it just seemed like
it was just an inevitability that they would score on
that drive. Then you say, okay, all right, it's a
rough start for the defense. But that happens sometimes, and
you think, hey, the offense, you know, I know, you
got a new quarterback, but this is Kyle He'll he'll,
(03:15):
he'll craft something up. I know that this that halflee
knows him well. Jeff Hafley and he coached us the
secondary my first year in San Francisco on twenty eighteen.
Really good, really good coach understands defense, understands that offense
really well, has answers, has the playmakers in the secondary
to make plays. Obviously Xavier mckinnee for end of the
(03:37):
program have made a ton of plays and made some
plays in this game, but they just couldn't get anything going.
They looked disoriented. I mean, they're slipping, their sliding and
in the first half they really had nothing to hang
their hat on. They end up putting together a touchdown drive.
Really just more of a cyb of relief as a
(03:58):
fan watching this game to say, man, this could have
could have been really bad. In that first half. Christian
Watson drops a wide open touchdown and you just saying,
maybe that's the break the San Francisco forty nine Ers
defense needed to get back on track to make some plays.
And in the second half, for all intents and purposes,
the offense starts okay, but you know, I wasn't able
(04:21):
to convert on fourth down in the first drive of
the second half. Defense stands up. The defense is looking
like their old selves in that second half, getting stops, tackling,
moving flying around. Then here comes the turnovers. Interception, then
a fumble in the pocket from Brandon Allen, and then
a fumble from Christian McCaffrey. And that's when you know, Mitchell,
(04:42):
this was not their day. I really don't have the
answers because you knew that the injuries. This team is
so top heavy that when you're without your high paid guys,
when you're without Trent Williams, the old line is gonna
be average to below average. I mean with that him.
And that's why he paid him so much money to
come back. That's what when he was holding out, he
(05:05):
knew that he would get his money because without him,
they are not a great or good offensive line. But
with him they move into a different stratosphere because they
can do a lot of things to slide away, to
protect the rest of those guys and really make his
job very difficult, sliding away him on the backside, running
towards him, running behind seventy one like they always do.
(05:28):
But when he's not there, that the identity just changes
and the offense didn't do Brandon Allen any favors today
or drop passes all over the place. Ty didn't drops
past Debo dropped one in traffic. It looked like, you know,
he was about to get hit. It was a tight
window pass led to an interception for Xavier McKinney, and
(05:49):
it just just couldn't get right. You couldn't find a way,
You couldn't see it, and I just don't see the hope.
You know that I want to see, And I know
that people are like, man, they're consider they're in Daniel Jones.
Even that's disappointed to me, Mitchell. That just shows me, honest.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
I know I know you want them, Richard, I know
you want them there in San Francisco. You've spoken too
highly of them this entire season. Man, I would love
to see him donate forty nine ers red Jersey just
for you, my friend. The other side of the field,
this Packers team, and they're six and one in the
last seven games. Of course, they took the l to
my Alliance, but you know they've been winning tight games
(06:29):
minus this game. They've beaten the Rams, the Cardinals, the
Texans by two, the Jags by three, the Bears last
week by one, and now they beat up on your
depleted forty nine ers. How worried should the rest of
the NFC be about these Green Bay Packers.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
I don't know if you're worried, but you're as good
as your record is, and they have a great record.
They're eight and three in a very very difficult NFC North,
so you got to give them credit. They've been you know,
Josh Jacobs, this is probably one of his best games.
Just conceal this game. Twenty six carries. Anytime a back
got over twenty six carries, one hundred and three yards,
(07:04):
three touchdowns. That's a bruising, punishing performance, one that really
takes the wheel of the defense and demoralizes. And if
they can live like that, I feel a lot better
than if they have to rely on Jordan Love to
consistently win them games. Not that he's not talented enough,
but he's just a propensity if he keeps throwing the
football to turn it over, and he has this season
(07:27):
at a really high tilt. This game, you know, only
threw the ball twenty three times for one hundred and
sixty three yards, but it had two touchdown and even
one of the passes it was obviously a play a
free play, but he threw an interception on that pass
and had a couple other interceptible passes. But when he's
able to push the ball down the field and pick
his spots, and they have a great running game and
(07:49):
defenses causing chaos where Shaun Gary gets a sack, Lucas
Fanask gets a sack, forced fumble, fumble recovery at the
sixteen yard line. Short fields for the offense, I think
it's it's perfect for what he's able to do and
it makes them a very dangerous team. But just like
we saw last year in the playoffs, if you force
him to win the game with his arm consistently, it's
(08:12):
it can go great because he's an accurate ballpass he's
an accurate thrower of the football and he can make
tight window throws. But he's also a high risk taker.
That's why you see all the interceptions happening. So I
think Green Bay Packers fans and in La floor would
feel better if they have this running game going like
it is in order to just to really kind of
(08:35):
kind of keep him buoyed and keep him give him
a really strong foundation and base to work around so
all the pressure isn't on his shoulders. So I feel
good about him. But just like the Minnesota Vikings, what
are they nine and two now? And you know you do?
Speaker 2 (08:49):
You do?
Speaker 1 (08:49):
You feel like, hey, every team in the NFC should
fear them, and nobody wants to see him in the playoffs.
I don't know if everybody feels like that, but their
record is fantastic, So they're going to be the fifth seed.
And I don't know if if you're the four seed,
four seed is who is it Tampa Bay? If they're
you know, if they're shaking in their boots when the
Minnesota Vikings come to town, or if they be shaking
in their boots playing the Green Bay Packers, I just
(09:12):
don't know.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
Yeah, well, they're gonna have a big test this Thanksgiving
on Thursday night against the Dolphins when the Dolphins come
to town. The Dolphins are hot right now, you know,
for folks that are done with Thanksgiving dinner, just fresh
off of watching Tommy DeVito take on Cooper Rush. There's
a doozy of a game on Thursday night, so we'll
see there. But then the Niners they need to get
(09:34):
right quick. They go on the road to Buffalo next
Sunday night, Richard, that's gonna be a one to watch.
Is that a must wing game? At this point for them.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Every game is a must win. Every single game is
a must win, and it's literal. If they lose another game,
the playoffs are pretty much out of the picture, and
you're playing for pride at that point just because of
how well these other teams are playing. We just talked
about two other wild card teams with two three losses,
and then you have teams in your division that have
beat you continuing to elevate. Seattle Seahawks' defense has found
(10:08):
their rhythm. Their offense scored against the Arizona Cardinals team
that hasn't given up a touchdown in two games. And
so if they start to find their footing and start
to create distance, then I get even more stressed out
about this team because you just I just can't understand
where the wins are gonna come from. And and you
just I just don't I don't recognize this team. I
(10:30):
don't recognize it. That there's not there's not a foundation,
there's not somewhere to that you say, hey, they're a
defensive team, or they're an offensive team, or they run
the ball well, or they or they do this well,
or I mean, let's not even mention what the special
teams have been doing. So it's a must win. But
I'm I'm slowly but surely just begrudgingly losing hope in
(10:52):
this season, and and I'm you know, I have as
much faith in this team as anybody. I thought they'd
be in the super Bowl this season, and it's very
hard to watch this tape week after week and be
out without being honest with myself and saying, ah, I
just I don't know, you know, I don't know. I'm
gonna watch Buffalo this week. I'm gonna watch San Francisco tape,
(11:12):
and I'm just gonna try to find the answers and
try to find ways I could see this team beating
Buffalo in Buffalo. After watching Buffalo, what Buffalo did to
the Kansas City Chiefs, what Buffalo has done this season,
it's gonna be It's gonna be tough, Mitchel, If Brock
Purty isn't healthy, if Trent Williams isn't healthy, if if
they're not getting a spark from somewhere, then.

It's time for a look at this weekend's Tasius matchup
in a segment we're calling Sunday Night Foodball, brought to
you by Uber Eats.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
Seattle reclaims the lead of the NFC West today against
Arizona Cardinals and looked pretty dominant defensively in doing so.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
Arizona came into this game on a winning streak.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
They looked like the hottest team in the NFC West,
a team that was looking to take a stranglehold on
the division. And they go onto the road and have
to deal with the twelves and Kyler Murray looked like
a shell of himself out there while he throws for
two to eighty five. This defense really kept them under check,
especially with the run game. James Connor only rushed for
eight yards. Kyler Murley only got nine yards. Richard, how
(14:00):
much did you like Seattle Seahawks defense today?
Speaker 1 (14:03):
I loved it. I loved it. I loved Leonard Williams.
Let's start with Leonard Williams because he was an absolute
game wrecker this game. And this is that's why they
paid him, That's why they went and got him. And
he went out there and really dominated from beginning to
end of this game. You look at the stats, they
look fantastic, but even they don't really tell the tale
(14:24):
of how dominant he was in the run game the
past game. Two and a half sacks, three TFLs, a
pass deflection, and just contributed to a lot of Kyler
Murray being uncomfortable. He led to other guys getting sacks.
Boye Mafe, Tyrese Knight looked really, really good young guy
that they drafted that you know they expected to come
(14:47):
in after they released Dots Tyrell Dotson, and they traded
the other guy and got Ernest Jones. Ernest Jones has
been a revelation. You have to give him a lot
of credit being able to come in learn a very
difficult system. The way he has anchored this defense flying around,
but also just shooting gaps when they're there, putting a
(15:07):
lot of pressure in the Blitz game. He looks like
the guy that they expected when they traded him, the
guy they they're so high on. He's changed the complexity
of this defense in his own right, that this defensive
line and Leonard Williams is a whole nother story. And
then and then Mitchell, let me get to Devin Witherspoon,
(15:28):
because the Kobe Bryant picked six was a play that
I don't know if everybody understands. It's short yards play
which puts the corner in a very tough spot on
the edge because when they play action and the receiver
blocks down, soon as the receiver cracks and blocks down
a great corner, you got a trigger. You got a trigger.
(15:50):
And I got to come up there and get ready
to tackle James Conner and get him on the ground
and hopefully we get this stop and we off the
field and it's gonna be many man monoi mono grown tackle.
Let's get him to the ground. He got fooled, though, Mitchell,
he got fooled, and some people hesitating those situations, you
got fool and you're like, oh, he got me, where's
my receiver? I know he's somewhere behind me, wide open, panic, panic, panic,
(16:13):
and you just see the completion. You tackle him and
you just shake your head all the way back to
the huddle. But you know what Devin Witherspoon did Mitchell,
He said, nah, I'm just gonna play fast, trust my
instincts and kept going after Kyler Murray. Put pressure on
Kyler Murray in a play he wasn't supposed to be there,
he wasn't supposed to be blitzing. He's supposed to be covered.
(16:34):
But that's where his instincts took him. And when you
play fast and you don't hesitate, you can erase mistakes.
And not that it was really a mistake, but he
rased what could have been an easy first down and
turned it into a pick six. Give Kobe Bryant a
ton of credit taking advantage of his hop been fantastic
(16:54):
since he's coming to the lineup during this season. So
happy for him, So great to see because when he
caught that ball, he didn't hesitate. Fown delaye, full speed
straight to the house sixty nine yards. This defense is
cooking and if they can play like this, it's a
scary sight to see because this offensive line is getting
(17:17):
healthier at a blokes, this is gonna work his way
back in knocked the rust off. They beat up Gino
a little bit, but he was still able to score
a touchdown to JSN on a defense that hadn't given
up a touchdown in twenty four drives the other touchdown,
just like we said, Kobe Bryant with the sixty nine
yard pick six Jackson Smith and Jigbu continues to make
his impact six catches for seventy seven yards in that
(17:40):
touchdown that we talked about. So many positive to take
from this game, but I thought that Arizona would lose
this game. It just looks so much different than when
Arizona played the Seahawks the first time. This time, it
just looked like Seattle's defense had something on their mind
and held them the six points. They really looked dominant.
(18:00):
They look confident. They look confident, from the secondary to
the D line, the lineback and corps, everybody looked confident.
You didn't see the in fighting, you didn't see the division,
you didn't see the finger pointing. Just dogs out there hunting.
And that's what great defense looked like. Mitchell and that's
what they had. So the NFC West should be a
(18:21):
little bit scary because the San Francisco forty nine ers
may have just given them the boost that they needed
to catapult them into the playoffs this year because it
started with that last quarter in San Francisco.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
No question.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
I mean, the Seattle team looks resilient. They look a
lot better. I know a lot of changes were made
at that trade deadline. It looks like it looks like
John Schneider made the right moves and this defense clicking.
If Gino and this offense can can get things going
consistently and score more than sixteen points, you got to
look out for them. They got a favorable matchup next
week against the Jets, albeit on the road, and then
(18:56):
the Cardinals have got to go to Minnesota. So you're
seeing your division fo have some tough matchups. Seattle could
get a little separation here going.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
That was this week's Sunday Night Food Ball, brought to
you by Uber eats, the official own demand delivery partner
of the NFL. Uber eats has the best game day
deals all season long. Order now for game Day.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
Richard, we already talked a bit about the NFC North,
and I want to talk about my Detroit Lions on
the road the day against Indianapolis Colts. The Colts coming
into this game five and six, not the best record,
but they are a competitive team. They're tough, they got
a good defense, they got a mobile quarterback. And you're
going on the road for the Detroit Lions, who have
won nine straight games. Now, this is the first time
(19:41):
they've started ten to one since nineteen thirty four. They
are six and zero on the road, and as I
mentioned earlier, Richard, they haven't allowed a touchdown and since
halftime of the Houston Texans game three weeks ago, this
defense has given up a grand total of twelve points
in the last ten quarters. And Aaron Glenn has this
second defensive line weathering the storm of dealing with injuries
(20:04):
to huge players like Aiden Hutchinson and Alex Anzeloni and
playing without their first round pick Terry On Arnold, and
yet they're still able to accomplish so much. How much
are you falling in love with m Detroit Lions right now?
Speaker 1 (20:18):
Rich Well, Mitchell? What is there not to love? When
you're playing great defense? I love to see it. And
they're continuing to see these young players that they drafted.
They that they're developing thrive. Kirby Joseph among the league
leaders in interceptions, but on the offensive side, like you said,
they're a little bit of struggling. But Jamir Gibbs still
(20:39):
had twenty one carries for ninety yards two touchdowns rushing.
David Montgomery got a little banged up in this game,
but had eight carries for thirty seven yards and the
TV I'm and Rock still got his Jared Goff didn't
turn the ball over or didn't throw an interception, and
they were able to hip hold the Indianapolis coach and
(21:01):
Anthony Richson without a score in this game after he
played a really solid game last week. So, I mean,
what is there not to love about this team? Like
you said, they're just rugged. They just get the job done,
and no matter what happens in this game, they believe,
just like we hear from the Kansas City Chiefs. I
don't think there's ever any panic in Detroit. And that's
(21:23):
something that I don't think you could have said at
really any time in the history of the Detroit Lions,
at least a recent history since I've been alive and
I'm thirty six. There is no panic when they throw
five interceptions. There's no panic when there's stumble out the gates,
there's no overconfidence when they score on the first three
drives of the game. You don't see them just take
(21:44):
their foot off the gas. At times, you watch them
in games where they're dominating and you're like, hey, maybe
y'all should just maybe put the tools in, Like is
there a mercy rule? Like maybe maybe maybe somebody should
call somebody and tell them that's enough, that's enough throwing it.
Like like they said in rock throwing the town, then
(22:06):
nobody's throwing it a town, Mitchell. They are on a mission,
and it just seems like a revenge tour. And I
know nobody in Detroit is saying it, but they're showing it.
They don't have to say it, Mitchell, They're saying it
with their shoulder pads and their actions that they are
on an absolute revenge tour and they are taking name
or kicking ass and taking names each and every single week. Now,
(22:31):
nobody expected the Indianapolis coach to win this game. I
don't think anybody did. I definitely didn't. But you know
what great teams do, They do exactly what you expect
them to do. They did not want to disappoint the
Indianapolis coach. They came in there expecting to get kicked
in the face, and guess what, Detroit came in there
and kicked them in the face. And that's the thing
(22:53):
I think is most special and not appreciated enough about
this Detroit Lions team is that you rarely see them
coming to games and underwhelm, underplay. Now, football bounces different ways.
You can always control that. You do have turnovers, don't.
You have unexpected things happen. But the things that take
no talent, the things that they can control, they are
(23:14):
masters at and I think Dan Campbell deserves a ton
of credit for that. I think he's gonna be amongst
the final candidates for Coach of the Year, obviously well deserved.
I think Mike Tomlin will be in there as well,
but kudos to him and the culture and the staff
and the players that they've put in place, because this
is an impressive team and I can't wait to see
(23:35):
him next week Thanksgiving playing the Bears.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
It's gonna be a fun stretch for the Detroit Lions.
They've got a couple of Division matchups against the Bears
and then the Green Bay Packers, and then they host
the Buffalo Bills, which is gonna be must ce TV.
Jerry Goff this week said, you know, he knows perfections
impossible in football, but that's what the team's focusing on,
is chasing perfection. They know that they've got all all
(24:00):
the people in house that can make this happen, and
they they're getting better at the small things game in
and game out, and that's just what's so impressive with
this team. I'm really looking forward to them to have
these primetime matchups against teams that in arguably are some
of the best in the league.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
Especially with the Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
We'll see how good the Detroit Lions truly are, because
to me in Vegas, they look like the best team
in football. And before we leave this game, it's time
we got an honor our player in Pride time, brought
to you by our friends and partners over at Bright Brightling's.
He's got the same Honolulu Blue Brightling watch that I
have on and that's Jamiir Gibbs.
Speaker 3 (24:38):
Richard.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
I know you had an opportunity to chat with him
last week. I mean, how much did you love his
game today.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
Well, Detroit Lions fans, if you haven't got a chance
to check out my interview with Jamiir Gibbs, please scroll
down and check that out because such a fun interview,
such a great guy, great human being, in a fun interview,
and I'd just love to see the success. He's just
been impressive in the in the past game and every
time they need more of him, he gives more, and
(25:06):
I think he just relishes in the opportunity that he's
been given. And it seemed like somebody pissed him off
because on one of those touchdowns he turned around and
as he has done all season, he outran the defense
to the age and he kept looking at the defender
and letting him know about it. And this isn't a
division fold, this isn't a team they play very often,
but you could just feel that attitude, and I think
(25:27):
the rest of the team is feeding off of his
confidence in his attitude when somebody else, when somebody needs
to step up and the play needs to be made,
he seems to be the one making it very consistently
for that offense, and you absolutely love to see it.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
Well, he is our player in primetime again, brought to
you by our friends and partners at Brightlink. The Washington
Commanders or one of the hottest teams in football.
Speaker 3 (25:52):
We were talking to him.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
They even made a quick showing in your top five
of year power ranks. And since that day, since you
gave him all this fanfare that you gave him and
talked so highly about their defense and Jaden Daniels and
their coaching staff, they've lost three straight. I mean, let's
not make light of it. They lost at home against
the low Lely. At this point, Dallas Cowboys, Richard, is
(26:17):
there any hope on the horizon for this Washington Commander team.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
There's hope on the horizon, but it's it's starting to
fade quick because the rocket that took off, that was
Jade and Daniels coming out the gates, is starting to
peter out and crash back towards Earth at a very
alarming rate. He started off so fast, only two interceptions,
really efficient, really accurate, breaking records for efficiency numbers. And
(26:45):
he has been the absolute opposite in the last few games.
And mind you, this is what has been the bane
of Cliff Kingsbury his entire NFL continure as a head coach.
As a player. The first half of the season, you've
seen the Arizona Cardinals go eight No. Six and two
really good football. Second half of the season they're under
(27:10):
five hundred, I mean two, three wins at most and losing.
And you see it again. It's like defenses have figured
him out, They figure his rhythm out, figure out the
things he likes, and literally run the table on him
every single year. So Cliff has to get that fix
because this isn't just a Jaydon Daniels problem. It's a
it's a Cliff Kingsbury problem, and it's a problem in
(27:32):
a pattern that's really popped up over the second half
of every single season in Cliff Kingsbury's career. Michaeh Parsons
showed up in a big way two sacks in this game.
Ceedee Lamb had ten catches, sixty seven yards. Cooper Rush
kept the ball away from the defense very efficient, twenty
four to thirty two, two hundred and forty seven yards,
(27:52):
two touchdown. So it but it was ten to nine
going into the fourth quarter, so forty one points between
these teams in the fourth quarter, which is which is
really crazy. It's really crazy. I don't know, I mean
I wonder what happened. I mean, maybe they just made
the right adjustments. Somebody figured something out. Clearly there was
a special teams touchdown in there. But the Washington commanders
(28:16):
have to figure it out because Jaden Daniels has come
back to Earth in the last three games only three
touchdowns and three interceptions. That's not good enough, and that's
not gonna be good enough. They have a game against
the Tennessee Titans coming up, and that's a very, very
tough defense as well. It's going to play a lot
of men and the man put a lot of pressure
on the quarterback and do just enough offensively to support it.
(28:36):
They're gonna run the ball, they make some plays. Will
Levis isn't hasn't been the greatest quarterback in the world,
but he's good enough to get it done if you
make mistakes against this defense. So that game is going
to be really interesting and the Cowboys can get another
win Thanksgiving Day against Tommy DeVito and the New York Giants,
who just looked like they pretty much meled it in
(28:59):
got their behind spat against the Miami Dolphins, uh I
think it was, and didn't look like they even had
a chance in that game didn't look like they looked
very uninspired after battling a lot of this season. But again,
you know these division games, you never know how it's
gonna go. And they know each other so well. I mean,
I would I put nothing past anybody in the division game.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
Yeah, it's it is crazy to see the Cowboys. I mean,
this is the time that they should be tanking and
looking at possibly getting your guys Shador Sanders. But give
them credit coming out staying hungry, getting a win on
the road. But we're talking about the Commanders and their struggles,
and there's other teams you know that are going through
those same woes. And another one is a Houston Texans
(29:40):
buy er Sell Richard Houston.
Speaker 3 (29:42):
We have a problem.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
Oh definitely got a problem. And we watched some of it.
Watch the start of their problem. I thought when we
had them against the New York Jets, that was an
easy win for them. You know, a team that I've
expected to be competitors and contenders this season, and as
we talked about as if you want to be a contender,
you have to win the games you're supposed to win,
and they have not done that. They've lost games they
(30:06):
were not supposed to lose, including this one. I mean,
they lose to the Titans at home, I gotta be
worried about him. They've they've lost three of the last four,
four of the last six. Strouds five interceptions over the
last three games, and this is with Nico Collins coming
back into the lineup. He started this season off struggling
(30:28):
and kind of found his way and kind of has
gotten back to struggling, and that's that's a bad formula.
His defense has played better than they have, but they
did not do well enough to win this game, even
though Daniel Hunter had three sacks. I think Will Anderson
had a couple of sacks. So, I mean they made
the plays that were there, but you got to do more.
(30:48):
When more is required, you have to give more, and
they just weren't able to do it. I think they
have to find some answers or again they're going to
squander a really, really great opportunity with a really talented
young team.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
They do.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
They have a great opportunity. Fortunately for them, their division
is you know, certified garbage and they're going to walk
away with it. But it's so important for them to
get on a win streak before they get into the playoffs.
Because you're right, they are getting back to being somewhat
healthy with Nico Collins back.
Speaker 3 (31:20):
They're fortunate to have Joe Mixon on this squad. They
should go back to basics.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
Run the football, get the hot hand involved, and we'll
see what happens with Houston. But another team that is
tie for the best record in football, he's Kansasity Chiefs
and they welcome in the Carolina Panthers eleven point favorites,
and the Panthers tied the game late. Fortunately for the Chiefs,
Mahomes does what he does and brings him down the
(31:46):
field for a game winning field goal. But you know,
you got to give the champs to their credit. But
I mean, the eye test just doesn't.
Speaker 3 (31:53):
Look there for me. Am I often that analysis or
do you feel the same way.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
There ain't no eye tests when it comes to them,
and there ain't no eye tests when it comes to
Patrick Mahomes. You give credit where it is due. And
I do not care what people say about these wins
and what they could and should and would be. They
are ten to one and they continue. Last year they
struggled and limped into the playoffs and went into every
away stadium and walked away with a dub went to
(32:21):
the Super Bowl, took it to ot. Was not pretty,
and they won the Super Bowl. None of it was pretty,
did not look pretty. The only thing pretty is at
the end of the day they got a ring with
diamonds on it that said back to back. So me
watching them struggle with the low league Carolina Panthers. If
it was other teams, I'd have a lot to say,
(32:41):
But I cannot say much about a team that has
proven their point constantly, consistently that none of this matters
in the regular season. It does not good, bad, or
indifferent until you showed me that in the playoffs, somebody
can take this ugly winning football team to the wire
and make him go home with an al. I'm I'm
(33:04):
I'm not gonna I'm not gonna put nothing against him.
Congratulations Kansasites fans, y'all won another one. Ten and one.
You guys are rolling. But how can I say anything
about it? Mitchell? They have they have, They have earned grace,
they have outright earned it. And Patrick Mahomes, I'm sure
everybody when they saw much time was left on the
(33:25):
clock against Buffalo, they were down ten and something tells
me they panned over to Josh Allen, and something tells
me he was sitting there thinking, I know, there's only
like thirty seconds. Can he Can he throw a ten
ten point touchdown? Can he do that? Is there a way?
(33:45):
Because when you have Patrick Mahomes at the helm, if
there's time left on the clock and that score is
one score or less, you think you lost it. It
was tied. When I saw it was tied, I just
turned the TV off, Mitchell. I think, yeah, a minute
forty something to go, I'll turn the TV off. I
went to the next game. I knew what it was over, Mitchell.
I've seen this story before, this script has been written before.
(34:07):
I know how this ends, and it ends with the
Kansas City Chiefs win, and until somebody shows me otherwise,
until the luck runs out and they find a rabbit
foot in whoever shoe it's in, don't talk to me
about the Kansas City Chiefs. And he's wins, Mitchell, because
they keep rolling.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
I get you, I mean, and Patrick Mahomes, you know,
shout out to him. It's time for our segment Ovation
of the Day, brought to you by our friends at
Ovation for Men, The Ovation Standing ovation in fact goes
to Patrick Mahomes. He proves it again, Richard, this guy
is the best player in professional football. And I don't
think it's up for debate the confidence he exudes. And
(34:46):
like you said, yeah, they're playing Carolina, and the Carolina
is playing with their heart and soul tye in the
game late, but you know, you give Patrick Mahomes any
amount of time the football in his hands, that game
is over and it's gonna end in Kansas City's favor.
They're gonna be an incredibly difficult out in the playoffs,
(35:06):
especially through that AFC gauntlet that he's gonna about to
go through. So shout out to him, man.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
Shout out to him, and shout out to his new
little move of the running to the sideline and figuring.
Everybody keeps assuming he gonna go out. I need you
all to stop assuming that, because that man is figuring
it out. He's figured out. Y'all gonna slow up. I
know I'm gonna take advantage. And he is a real
deal killer. He's got killer instinct and that's what he's showing.
People are like, oh, man, he should be ashamed. Why
(35:33):
should he be ashamed of himself? If there's a something
in this game to exploit, then exploit it. That is
what this game is about. If it's a technique, if
it's a hand platement, if it's a rule, that's what
champions do. That's what winners do and winners are and
that's why he keeps winning because he has he figured
this game out. He's playing at a different level. And
(35:54):
that's the thing about being a great player in this league.
If you've never been great at anything, then you don't
you don't know what this feels like. I'm sorry you've
never dealt with it. But when you're a great receiver,
you're a great corner, your great quarterback, or you're a
great team, the other guys are thinking about you when
they prepare throughout the week. You may not be thinking
about them. You just thinking about, Hey, I got another team, man,
(36:17):
they got this offense. I'm preparing for these plays. Cool. Cool,
They're thinking, I gotta beat Patrick Mahomes this week. I
gotta beat Richard Sherman. I'm gonna give him my best.
He's never gonna have sleep. I'm losing sleep. I'm standing
up Extra. I'm watching Extra because that is their super Bowl,
and each and every week the teams play the Kansas
City Chiefs and that's their super Bowl and they're playing
it like that. And congratulations to the Carolina Panthers and
(36:40):
Bryce young Bryce Youngest really rebounded since he's come back
into the lineup and and really played some inspiring football.
Went toe to toe with Patrick Mahomes here with a
much less talented team. So maybe this is good for
their development and still good for the Carolina Panthers because
they don't want to win this game really in reality,
they want to pick hot and continue to add talent
(37:02):
to this team. So good on him. You showed enough
that you needed to show that you could go toe
to toe with the Super Bowl champs and you steal
got an awful record, and you're gonna be picking.
Speaker 2 (37:13):
Hot, best case scenario for the Carolina Panther's no question
about that. Well that's the ovation of the day, brought
to you by our partners, that ovation for men. This
is a go to fragrance of the Richard Shimman Podcast. Richard,

You're gonna be taking some time off this week, much
deservedly so in London, but when you get home, you're
going to directly to Kansas City to see them first hand,
take on the Las Vegas Raiders. And it's time for
our T and F preview presented by Prime Video. This
game will not be on Thursday night, It's on Black Friday, Richard,
(38:15):
how excited are you to go and see this Kansas
City Chiefs team and Patrick Mahomes first hand.
Speaker 1 (38:21):
I'm really excited. I'm really excited. You know, we just
talked about them and they just keep finding ways to win.
And they're playing the two to nine Las Vegas Raiders again,
a divisional game that you can never put past anybody.
Raiders are going to be hyped up. They beat Kansas
City in this situation, very situation before where they're massive underdogs.
(38:42):
They really have no chance to win. And then they
find a way to win the ball game. But I
don't think the Kansas City Chiefs are gonna overlook them
in any way. I think they're built to win these
kind of games. I'm excited to see Patrick Mahomes, Xavier
Worthy and really dispags no dispags defense as they continue
to evolve and develop with with all their playmakers, Chris Jones,
(39:05):
Nick Bolton McDuffie for into the program. They just they
just are the standard, you know. And anytime you get
a chance to watch the team that just won the
Super Bowl back to back, the team that's got the
number one seed in their side of the conference, it's
gonna be a it's gonna be a pleasure. And I
expect that the Las Vegas Raiders to not just float
over and give it to them. They're gonna, they're gonna
(39:25):
put up a fight. They're gonna they're gonna come with
everything they got and try to make this a game
and try to walk away with win.
Speaker 2 (39:31):
Well that's this week's team that preview presented by Prime Video.
Be sure to check out the Raiders take on the
Kansas City Chiefs this Friday.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
