And I'm not gonna make the man. Wait, nah, the legend,
the legend. Let's welcome with glory and renown iron Mike
Tysonne put up.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Mike, you'd be nuts.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
Okay, now you're nuts. Mike, You're nuts.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Man.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
Y'all we're obviously huge fans, and uh, I don't know.
The most intriguing men in the world, Mike Tyson on
the show Most Interesting man on the planet. It's a
pleasure to be hanging with you. Great to see you again.
So Mike, let's get right into it.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
Man.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Not many people could break the Internet with their butt cheeks,
but you did. How did it make you feel?
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Man?
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Tell us about that moment.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
Hey, you really changed, But that became a big thing.
That's just so ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
Did you expect that to be even a little story
when the fight was over?
Speaker 4 (01:11):
That's not, and I've looked. I've been that way my
whole career. My butt been showing on it. Took a
picture of it.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
Hey, did you ever think, well, maybe it's just better
than ever because it seemed like the whole world is
taken by it?
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Hey, man, I guess so. I don't look the new time.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Ever, Mike. As we as we signed on here to
see you, you lit up. Tyson two point oh. Last
time we saw you in Vegas, you handed me a
bag of your mic bites. The edibles fantastic. I love them. Yeah,
I gotta tell you, I see Aaron Rodgers doing ayahuasca.
You were smoking toad venom, you got, Tyson two point zero?
(01:47):
Tell us what we got to be trying? And what
do you recommend for a guy that's open to this?
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Hey? I recommend you try everything?
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Yeah, open your mind though.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
You try everything? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:58):
What would you say? You? You you've learned from your
experiences with toad venom and all your experiences that death.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Is beautiful and death is nothing to be afraid of.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
Is that why you're willing to leave it all in
the ring?
Speaker 2 (02:12):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
I think that's just my personality, but that what I
love wele mom. All of this medicine was not to
be afraid of that.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
You know, that's kind of an interesting statement because a
lot of us think about those things right before we're
going to sleep, right, some deeper stuff. If you're not
afraid of things like that, Mike, from your experiences, what
do you think about before you go to bed? What
sort of stuff runs to your mind?
Speaker 4 (02:35):
Listen, I don't think about always trying to be the
best that could possibly be, the best me that could
be before I go to bed.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
Well, you're a great dad. We know that you're a
great family man. Congrats on your beautiful family. We saw
your family on the Netflix special. We saw your daughters.
A great tennis player. We saw you there supporting your daughter.
Is there any other sport Mike Tyson could have competed
in besides boxing?
Speaker 4 (02:59):
I would like to try tennis. Well, do you ever
tennis fans over here?
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Are you any good? Have you tried or no?
Speaker 2 (03:07):
So I tried to hit the ball before it went
so far in the air.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Oh man, imagine Mike in the eighties wearing those little
John McEnroe shorts.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Yeah, like me playing baseball with a tennis racket.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
No, but you're You're such a disciplined guy, right, and
you could be great at anything you put your mind to.
You showed that in boxing. Do you think there's another
sport you could have been a professional at if you
dedicated yourself to that.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Yeah, I had no idea about that.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
No, just boxing.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Well I knew is boxing.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Yeah, Mike, I'm a big Mets fan and I there's
a classic picture of you in the eighties with Darryl
Strawberry and Doc Goodin, and you know, at the height
of what they were doing and what you were doing.
What athletes now are you intrigued by? Like, who are
you following in the boxing world, NBA football? There other
athletes you keep your eye on.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
I'm just I'm just a guy chilling out. I'm not much.
I don't watch sports much besides tennis. I don't know
I most of most of the guys that played for
that I know. It's the athletes. A friend of mine,
they don't blame anymore.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
So we got to talk about the fight. Mike Tyson's
here on the Cavino and Rich Show. What do you
have to say to all the critics who say you
held back on punches? There was a lot of viral clips.
What do you have to say to the critics that
brought that up?
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Oh no, I don't remember the fight that much. That
kind of blanked out a little bit.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
Did you watch it back or anything, or.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
No, I'm gonna watch the fight. No, I had not.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Okay, So there was a lot of casual fans. First,
I want to thank you again for bringing people together.
It was like the nineties all over again. We got
together with friends, we had a great night. It was
highly entertaining. But then, of course clips go viral. A
lot of casual fans speculating there's a few clips where like,
you're holding back a right hand punch, in my opinion
as a fan, to not be exposed so that you
(04:54):
don't get hit. Is that what was happening in that clip?
Or you don't even know.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
Let's know what I remember, No, well, coming back from
the first round and then the next day, I remember
Jacob doing some.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
Kind of I don't know what was he doing at
the ring.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
Oh yeah, it.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
Last I remember, dude.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
There was a lot of people online that said, that's
when you should have hit him when he was bound
down like that.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
That's why get married. That's why. I was like, what
the hell was he doing?
Speaker 1 (05:21):
So it went that quick for you?
Speaker 4 (05:23):
Yeah, Mike, I was kai, I wasn't sweaty. I went
to the hotel. No, I went to the house that
we stayed in. I left the house, me and my wife,
my kid. Then we went to the after party, then
we came back.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
So for us, right, it was two minute rounds and
it felt really quick. For us, We're like, dang, we
wanted more. Is there anything about the fight you would
have changed based on the experience?
Speaker 2 (05:47):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (05:48):
No, listen, I wouldn't have realized any of it if
it went three minute round I didn't realize that question.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
You come down to the ring solo. I can only
imagine there were people that wanted to come down to
the ring with you. Who wanted to come down to
the ring, And why did you choose to have no
one with you?
Speaker 4 (06:06):
Hey, listen, someone you said, Mike, is your time to
come out? And I just came out. Nobody would I wouldn't.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
I would assume anyone wanted to come. I would assume
there was there was celebrity, celebrities, you know, colleagues, you know,
friends of yours that wanted to be out there. But
you did it. We were rooting for you, man, pulling
for you so hard. And I know you often say
we're fans, Mike. You don't care about ego and legacy,
But after something like that, do you think it adds
to your legacy? How do you think you're viewed after
(06:35):
this fight?
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Wow? I know the thought about that, you know.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
But the day after the fight, right after the day
after I woke, I told my.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
Wife why did I do that? I don't know. I
don't know what the hell go go?
Speaker 1 (06:48):
And what was her response? Like, what was your family's
response to everything?
Speaker 2 (06:53):
They was just supporting me?
Speaker 1 (06:55):
I can only imagine. I So we saw your great
relationship with your daughter, like have you do? Not said
on the Netflix special? And by the way, Mike, are
you're brushing your teeth more net or what?
Speaker 2 (07:04):
Working on it?
Speaker 3 (07:04):
Well?
Speaker 1 (07:05):
Okay, okay, I saw the great relationship you had as
a dad and daughter. Was it cool for your family
to see that the public rallied around you so much?
All these years later? I feel like everyone I knew
was just like, come on, let's go, Mike. Everybody you
had the world behind you. Is that a cool feeling
to know you still had it? In your family to
see that.
Speaker 4 (07:23):
I'm still happy. I am happy with my family for that.
But we don't normally go around and talk about me
fighting and stuff. I say I'm a fight and then
they say, you know, Dad's gonna fight.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
Right, So that was like a different side of them
of you for your like.
Speaker 4 (07:40):
A party for the like going out, but normals like, yeah,
Daddy's gonna fight.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
It was a party for everybody. Man Rich and I
we were buddies in Miami rooting you on. Now, there's
been a lot of rumors since the fight. Are there
any rumors you'd like to clear up or is there
any truth to any of the rumors? Is there anything
you want to share with the Fox Sports Radio Nation
about what's next?
Speaker 2 (07:59):
The real fight?
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Yeah, it was a real fight. What did you think
of Jake's power? Man, when you.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
Were in there, I don't remember it, You.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
Don't you didn't even remember it.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
I heard our but my body was really sore.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
It was sre the next day.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
Yeah, my body, my chest, my stum making stuff was
really sore.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
Well, dude, you were you were in great shape. You
still look great. Mike Mike Tyson on The Coveno on
Rich Show, speaking of rumors, there was a rumor today
that one of your buddies that you fought not too
long ago, Roy Jones Junior, said that he wants to
maybe test it out with Jake Paul and test Jake
Paul's chin. He's fifty five years old. You think that
Roy Jones Junior can handle something like that, You were
(08:37):
just there.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
He's bast enough though.
Speaker 4 (08:40):
Yeah, if Roy's training, Roy could still do a lot
of stuff. He got to be training though. They have
to be training.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
Now, Mike, he does. I know, he's a big dude.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
Man.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Well, you know years ago you talked about the fighting guts, right,
you didn't have the fighting guts years ago go to
continue going on? So what inspired you at fifty eight
to do it finally?
Speaker 2 (09:08):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (09:09):
Just yeah, the fight, Jake, you know, we were talking,
we were talking about it for a year.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Plet's do it just for the fun of it, for
the excitement of it, and to be part of history.
I mean, and I'm sure Mike, the payday sort of
helped out a little bit too, right, I mean it's
it was no.
Speaker 4 (09:25):
Oh no, is that that payday and not going to
change my lifestyle at all?
Speaker 1 (09:29):
Well, I see is that your house right there? Say
you're living in a beautiful place. It looks like you're
living large right now.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Watching them very fortunate. Yes, thank god, a lot of whack.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
Bok, Mike, of all of all the pop culture moments
you brought us, you know, for guys that are in
our age range, the fight you delivered, Mike, Tyson's punch out,
that Hangover? What are you most shocked by the people remember?
Is it the cameo on the Hangover? Is it the
video game? Like? What do you shock that was a
popular or as it was with your legacy.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
Well, I think it's gonna be the ass now. But
the Tyson but cheks.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
You know, Mike, you should come out with an edible
Tyson's butt cheeks right so that people could eat it.
Speaker 5 (10:13):
I like that, like that Tyson's cheeks, sweet cheek, Tyson's
sweet cheeks. I can see it now. You know what,
Rich will be the first to eat them. Rich probably
wants to eat them right now. Rich loves him.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
You gotta give me like a little small percentage, Mike.
It's my idea. And you know what we talked to
Mike years ago. He said he never Mike, you said,
you never played the video game. You never played Tyson's
punch Out. Ever, that's what you told us years ago commercials.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
I wasn't in the games back then, ahead of my time.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Well, I don't know if you're into games now. But
my next question was what does Mike Tyson do to
keep himself happy? Obviously you have a beautiful family. What
brings you the most happiness?
Speaker 2 (10:56):
Now?
Speaker 1 (10:56):
You had a lot of fun at that fight. It
was fun for we.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
Were talking about that fight was such a bigger sin
that we were so up and high.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
We were so the fight a boom. Wow. I'm kind
of depressed a little bit.
Speaker 4 (11:09):
You know, you got to get back in a situation,
back to living what we know because we fight, we're
training for a nine months.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Mike, I saw on the docu series on Netflix that
you were saying, no matter where you go, wherever you go,
people want to say hi to Mike Tyson. And you
said your wife said that if that wasn't the case,
you'd hate it. Do you do you go anywhere where
someone doesn't recognize you?
Speaker 2 (11:35):
No?
Speaker 4 (11:35):
No, Yeah, I think my wife said I probably lose
my mind the way they didn't know me.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
Yeah, it's got to be fun to be by. Tyson. Yeah,
what what is it like, Mike? Do you go grocery
shopping on your own? I mean, you're probably the most
recognizable guy on the planet.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
I do every down my own.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
I would run into a store real quick and buy
something come out.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
Are you immune to people's reaction because everywhere you go,
Like I remember this is years ago. I was on
West fifty seventh Street in New York City and I
saw Muhammad Ali walking down the street. But what I
noticed first was everybody standing still just watching him, like,
oh my goodness, this is Muhammad Ali walking down the street.
Do you notice people staring at you? And because that's
(12:17):
a thrill for anybody wherever you are.
Speaker 4 (12:19):
Hey, listen, Yeah, I had to go to the police
station to lift my probation off the know we're leaving town.
All the police were looking at me like wow.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
See it still to feel great, man. That's the legacy
that we're talking about. That's important to us because we're
such fans, Mike, because of Tyson two point zero. I
feel like people that smoke weed or enjoy that culture.
As Mike lights up right now, yeah, people say, oh
I want to smoke with Snoop Dogg or Willie Nelson.
Is Mike Tyson now on that list of celebrities people
(12:49):
want to smoke with? Do people come up to you.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
I'm not too exciting when I'm smoking, you know, Snooping
pretty exciting and animated when he's smoking.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
But it's good to be around him.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
Are you just? Are you just chilling? You more like
a sink into the couch and get all deep.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
Oh, I'm just.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
Who's the coolest guy you smoked with? Your favorite guy
you smoked with, or woman?
Speaker 2 (13:11):
And nobody cooler than Snoop?
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Yeah, that's gotta be an experience. Hey, what would have happened?
We were at your ranch one time, right and you
were smoking out at your ranch. We were just so
happy to be there, just taking it all in. But
there was a part of us that sort of wanted
to join in a little circle just to say we
smoked with you. Would that have been overstepping if we
jumped in.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
Smoke hotly?
Speaker 1 (13:39):
Blew the opportunity because.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
We want to.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
Yeah, we kind of wanted to. Hey, Mike, we saw
you another time in Vegas. You were doing your podcast.
Tell us about like that journey that venture? Do you
like broadcasting. Do you like doing podcasts?
Speaker 4 (13:56):
This is something that's funny. My wife got me into
this stuff. Yeah, I'm not that crazy, but I don't
love it love it crazy, but I'm very good at it.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
Yes, I was just gonna say that. And your your
one man's show, Like, are we going to see more
of that? Because you said it? You have the post
fight blues right now, right, so what is that next
thing you're going to dive into? Man, otherwise you're gonna
get bored.
Speaker 4 (14:19):
Well, we're working on that right now. We do all
my new shows coming out a netflick.
Speaker 1 (14:25):
Yeah, because you are. You're great at it, man, So
even if you don't like it for your fans, I
think you gotta do it now. I feel like, Mike,
what about because I feel like when I see the
podcast you love to have deep conversations. Have you ever
thought about just sitting down with other fighters and celebrities
and having like deep conversations. Is that sort of what
what a TV show might be?
Speaker 4 (14:46):
Not necessarily the deep conversation, but it's explaining to somebody
that what's your existence?
Speaker 2 (14:52):
Who you are?
Speaker 1 (14:53):
Hey, Mike, you ever sit down with Neil deGrasse Tyson?
I feel like the other Tyson. I mean, that guy's
pretty deep.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
You know that something else, didn't they?
Speaker 1 (15:02):
Yeah, Tyson and Tyson, that's a good show, Tyson and Tyson. Hey, Mike,
I know one of your heroes growing up was Roberto Durant, Right.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
Now, from today's perspective, these one thirty five forty guys,
do you think any of those dudes have the same
fighting guts like of the Devin Haines, Tank Davis's, Ryan Garcia's,
Tia Fimo's of that.
Speaker 4 (15:25):
We can't overlook those guys. Those guys a tough guy.
They're just for different erarors.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
Yeah. Do you have a favorite of all those young guys?
You keep your ear to that a little bit? Or
just heavyweights?
Speaker 4 (15:36):
No, they're all the station of too. I think Ryan
and Devon should fight again.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
Yeah, I agree with that.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
H That was a good fight, man, that was a
good one.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
Do you still make a night of it? Let's say
there's a big fight coming up, right, what's it like
for you? How do you enjoy the fight? Because you
gave us all these opportunities, all these memories. You sold
us on boxing in the nineties. For me, it was
Julio Sai Sarchavez, Mike Tyson, and you know you'd get
a pay per view, you'd have friends and family over.
What's that like? If there's a good fight and you're interested,
(16:07):
how do you party? Do you invite people over your house?
Speaker 4 (16:09):
Do you I try to go to the fight if possible,
but we're not going to the fight.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
People just come over the house as I go over
one's house.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
Mike, I've seen you at fights where when they put
you on the big screen, you get the biggest applause
of all. Does that make you feel good? Because it's
got to right. They go around the crowd when they
go to Mike Tyson, the crowd goes nuts. Is that
is that the respect you feel? Uh, you've earned over
the years.
Speaker 4 (16:33):
Hey, I'm just very grateful, that's all. I'm very I'm
becoming familiar with the acting gratitude.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
You know, we were talking about other fights. You got
fury Usik coming up at the end of the month,
the rematch fury Usik too. Any thoughts on that because
I know you have connections with Tyson.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
Furythy could have won that fight. He wasn't playing around
early in fight.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
I agree that. So do you think he's got the
second one I.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
Want him to have. I want him to be serious enough.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
You know, I know you like him, But how did
you get in Ghanu's corner against him? I always thought
that was interesting too, because Fury looks up to you
so much. Did you feel bad going against him?
Speaker 2 (17:18):
I don't even know how that happened, but it happened.
I don't know how the hell that happened.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
Well, Mike uh Tyson two point zero Mike Tyson dot com.
People could uh support all the stuff you're doing, any
of any other stuff, any other stuff going on right now?
You got the Netflix thing in the works.
Speaker 4 (17:37):
Yeah, I'm doing the Netflix One Man's Show, and I'm
gonna start doing movies again.
Speaker 2 (17:42):
Yes, you know God willing, you know the sky the limits?
Speaker 1 (17:45):
Nice man. Well, it's the next time we're in Vegas.
Hoefull we bump into you and we could take you
up on that. Uh, maybe have some mic bites together,
some edibles. No sweet cheeks, Mike, sweet Mike. I can't
believe Mike sweet cheeks. And then the tagline is everybody's
eating them. Oh God, I'm trying to get in on that.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
Mike.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
We'll see you in Vegas.
Speaker 4 (18:07):
I'll hang man, Let's get this guy some money.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
Thank you, Hey, Mike, I want to thank you for everything.
Congrats on your career, on being a better person, thank you,
thank you for your time. Just thank you and thanks
with all the joy you brought us. Mike.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
Thank you. Guys.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
Have a great one. Mike Tyson. Mike Tyson, I'm telling
you we go to Vegas. I'm taking him up on
it this time. That is cool to know, though. Here's
the thing. It's Mike Tyson, right, larger than life, grew
up invincible, rooting for the guy you're interviewing, your you're
at his ranch. You feel like you're overstepping, jumping in
(18:46):
to smoke. I'm not some big pothead guy. I don't know.
But you want to see it. But it's like if
you see Snoop or Willie Nelson or Mike Tyson, there's
a party that wants to be like I want to
do it for the story exactly and just to have
that moment with the legend. But you don't want to overstep.
You don't want to get mean mugged by Mike Tyson.
But and you never know what sort of mood Mike
(19:08):
Tyson's in and I could relate to that is this.
I'm actually in a really bad mood because of Wan Soto,
but Mike Tyson put a nice smile on my face.
Today is today. Today we saw Cavino Official become business
partners with Let's Do It, Mike Sweet Cheeks, Mike Sweet.
She happened organically too, man. I love that. And what's
the tagline? Everybody's eating him? That's gonna damn buy for
(19:30):
an update, d Me, thanks for hanging for Tyson.
Speaker 6 (19:33):
That fella's tough fact to follow, but I can't let
you know this. Richer forty nine ers have a big
game against the Rams coming up on Thursday. Running Back
Isaac Grendo, as a footsprain, did not practice today. Now,
the Niners didn't hold a practice, but coach Kyle Shanahan
said that he wouldn't have been on the field even
if they did have the workout Again that comes up
on Thursday.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
No, maybe I'm sorry to Troup. I feel bad for
Grendo because with Mason Downy McCaffrey down, this is an
opportunity for him to show everyone what he's got, and
that's that's when you don't want to get hurt man.
He's the third string getting a real shot.
Speaker 6 (20:03):
Yeah, I've been argued fourth string because of Elijah Mitchell's
in German.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (20:08):
They at the beginning of the year.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
There's no joy in Mudville. Today, there's no joy for me.
I'm a Yankees fan, so you're gonna get the reaction
you expect from me, like Juan Soto, beat it, dude,
lame move. I'm not feeling it. I think it's corny.
You can have me. I'm bitter. You're better. Good for you.
Rich is the Mets fan. Oh, Kavino this morning goes
(20:32):
want soda and his corny haircut. He's lame anyway. Cavino
and Yankee fans are acting like the guy who got dumped,
and he's like, I don't like anyway. I'm glad he
brought that up because let's say my girlfriend left me
to be with Rich. Am I supposed to be happy
for Rich giving him high fives. No f Rich, his
stupid team and stupid Wan Soto. Seriously, because the Mets,
(20:55):
for me at this point, they are the evil Empire.
They are buying championships. Because I have to question this
before we get into it. Well, I guess you got
out bid? Well, is that what it was all about?
To flex that you're the team with the most money
in New York? Did you make this move to prove
that you could outbid the Yankees to actually try to win?
Because he's not worth that much money. You and I
know it. He's not better than Sho hal Tan. He
(21:17):
gave me important he did to get more money than
Sho He Well, dude, he's got a set. He's the
highest paid contract of all time, seven hundred and sixty
five million, fifteen years. The Yankees offered him seven hundred
and sixty million for sixteen years. The Yankees were in
the World Series last year. So for him, it's not
about playing for the Mets. It's not about winning with
the Mets. It's all about the bag. And if that's
(21:39):
the type of guy he is, good luck with him.
Why would it not be about winning in the culture
because he could have won with the Yankees. You don't
know with the Mets. Good luck with that. Good luck
with that. The Mets don't have a long history of winning.
Last night checked it was eighty six. So if you
want his number up in the rafters with Tim Tuffles,
good beat it so so so Yeah, to have Luis
(22:00):
soho than so there you go. The bitterness is hilarious.
I'm serious about it. I think it's a lame move.
But I'm the wrong guy to ask. I'm a Yankees fan.
Ask everybody else. I see the feedback. Baseball's broken. You're
the guy. It's just a little ridiculous when you're paying
this guy that much money. Baseball's broken because it's not
(22:22):
about winning. It's not about winning. It's about outbidding every
other team at this point, and that makes me feel
a little a little sad to be honest. To be honest,
I'm not happy about it. Baseball is broken when you
didn't get your guy. Had the Yankees gotten Sodo Pinchertrip's broken?
He played for a non contending team and then decided
(22:43):
to make a sweet move like shoheyo Tani. Did I
understand that he was on the Yankees? Like I said,
the analogy here is, why would I be happy about it?
I'm not. That's a better question for everybody else. I'm
a Yankees fan. Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
We'll get to all your thoughts, but Danny g your thoughts,
Dan Bayer Iowa, saying before Mike Tyson gets here, Mike
(23:05):
Dyson can't wait your initial thoughts, I wasn't surprised, but
I was disgusted. Disgusted, yeah, because it shows you what
it's really all about. The's pros ain't loyal.
Speaker 7 (23:16):
Well I immediately thought of the Thanksgiving Dan Patrick show
where you two ganged up on me and called the
Dodgers the new evil Empire.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
Right, I think they still? Are you really? So? I mean,
are the Mets aren't?
Speaker 7 (23:29):
Because you said, and I quote, the Dodgers are buying championships,
So the Mets are too, then, right.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
I mean everyone's trying to buy a championship.
Speaker 7 (23:36):
Well that's what I said, and you said that doesn't
make it okay? Yeah, but now that your Mets got him,
it's okay. Well what makes it sort of like is
how blatant it is though. It's like, you know, it's
so blatant that he's chasing the bag that like it
hurts me as a sports fan, as a baseball fan,
because it's like there really is no loyalty, and we
know that as fans, right, it is all about the money.
(23:57):
But it's so blatant here that it leaves just a
bad taste of my mouth. Again as a Yankees fan,
So why are you acting like the Mets don't have
a good culture? Since Steve Cohen owned the team, players
say that he treats the families. Yeah, great culture.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
The fans abandoned him the second day lose and it
was May and you said you were done with the season.
Great culture. The culture under Steve con is different, Lindor.
There's a lot of Latino players that he's tight with,
you know, his relationship with Francisco. Why is it so
hard so he did it to play with Latino players.
I find that hard to believe. It's all about the money.
We know that, and the fact that it's just so
(24:30):
blatantly obvious is what's weak about it.
Speaker 6 (24:32):
I just thought it was such a kick in the
nuts to the Yankees. I don't know if I can
even say that. I meant to say, you know what,
you just said it, but I said it, and I
meant it. That was my first reaction, because it's not like,
you know what, I prefer to live in southern California
or I've got family in this place. It's I'm gonna
be in the same city I'm just going over here.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
Yeah, because they're may no more. That's really it. Yeah,
that's It's as simple as culture. Give me a break.
The culture mean to me the same Latino fans that
are in New York City. Like he just said, let's
say one call about our hang with Mike Tyson from
T and then we'll talk a lot of NFL for
the rest of the show. Let's go buckle up. NFL's coming,
T Georgia. Your thoughts on Tyson?
Speaker 3 (25:14):
Yoo man, C n R. What's up? Shout out Danny G.
Shout out dB, what's up? Man? I'm good. Listen. The
Tyson interview was phenomenal. We appreciate and I don't know
if I can speak for everybody, but I'm gonna seek for
myself in this case for for a lot of people
to say, I think you guys got him on post fight.
(25:36):
Since you were the first people to get him on
post fight, this was probably the most important to be
the interview that we all wanted to hear. We were
so like, Okay, where's his head at? What if he
was he thinking? Where was he at when he was
in the fight? Like what out the puns to fade
and stuff like that. So you guys, spot On, all
the questions were asked. Thank you, phenomenal interview.
Speaker 1 (25:57):
Thank you man. I appreciate the call too. And he's right, man, dB,
he's the best in the game. But that whole Tyson
interview was a full team effort, so a lot of
fun for everybody, Danny g and Spotty pulling it off.
Iowa Sam on the ones and twos and takes hereus
to help. Thank you Cares for putting that together for us.
But it really was a matter of awkwardness and excitement
(26:20):
all in one interview. Like there was awkward moments, but
that's what you get from Mike Tyson. Yeah, I was
saying during the commercial too. You know Mike who runs
his place? Yeah Mike, Yeah, who Mike? He made it happen,
I said to Mike with Iron Mike, it really is
like at first, no matter how many times you interview him,
the first few minutes is like an awkward date and
you're like, all right, Mike, are you gonna warm up?
And then when he does, you're like, but at first,
(26:42):
it's always like because he could throw you for like
a curve ball. Did you ever see that interview with
like a fourteen year old girl and she's like Mike,
and she asks him about legacy. He's like, legathy, What
is legacy? You dying at it? What is legacy? What
is lengthy? Yeah? And she's like, well that's an interesting answer.
My little girl. She's like, Mike, I'm a child. It
mean nothing, We're nothing.
Speaker 6 (27:04):
It was so refreshing because usually when as and I'm
saying this and listen, I know I'm the point zero
zero one percent. Nobody else is a reporter. But not
only when they do those young interviews. The athlete or
the manager of the coach is always like, really good question.
And then sometimes they'll say like I wish we had
more of those around here. And you know, it's such
(27:24):
a soft ball that they throw. You got a future kid, Yeah, yeah,
maybe take some of these, you know, clown's job. And
he just went right in. It was great, you've got it.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
If you've never seen this this clip, I speak up,
you gotta look it up. Mike Tyson is interviewed by
a teenage girl and he's like, life, it means nothing
if you die at it, and then he cursed to right. Yeah,
She's like thanks. A couple of bombs. But that's what
makes him great. And we got a little taste of
that too, right, you heard us squirm. But that's what's
fun about it. The virus are right. Usually kid interviews
(27:56):
like a top Brady, who's your hero? But that's my hero.
You're the great the kid. That's the best question. But
it's always it's always like that. You're right, thank you.
And if you missed it again, listen for the podcast
later on. But Rich, we gotta do it, man, We
do it every Monday. Things that made you go, hmm,
things that make you go, Things that make you go.
(28:20):
As Week fourteen of the NFL wraps up this week,
observation number one, of course, I will be self serving
and I'll talk about how my Niners win was in
vain because the Seahawks, Dan Bayer, congrats to your Seahawks.
By the Seahawks winning, they stay a couple games ahead
(28:40):
in the division, and the Rams beating the Bills. Everything.
The Niners win, they beat the Bears, which is what
they needed to do. But the other layers of how
they were supposed to stay in this none of them
turned out nice. For me.
Speaker 6 (28:54):
There's still a path for you, and she just had
a lot of stuff. You have to kind of go
perfect the rest of the way.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
Forty nine ers would probably need to go perfect if
they lose to the Lions and go four three and one.
Now they they'd very much need every other team in
that division to poop the bed. Really, honestly, it's it's
it's to that level. So my observation was the Rams
showed up. Who would have thought that. I mean, we
all thought, oh, Buffalo would come into LA and just
you know, even if Matthew Stafford and that team put
(29:20):
up an effort, you know they're well coached. McVeigh always
comes to play. But you know they were talking about
they put up a forty plus spot and with they
withheld a late surge by Josh Allen and kept it
in bay. Josh Allen still played big, but guys like
Pooka Nakua stepped up for the Rams. That was fun
(29:41):
to see. What was stood out to me and I
believe it was Ben Mallard that said he said something
a little off color. Danny G do you want to
say what he said about Patrick Mahomes and a horseshoe.
I'm sorry, It's it's incredible the luck that Patrick Mahomes
and the Chiefs have had.
Speaker 7 (29:58):
This album put zs on it instead of an He
says that Patrick Mahomes has a lucky horseshoe stuck up
his ass.
Speaker 1 (30:05):
He must, he must for them to pull out that
win with the doink doink in that's insane, man, nineteen seventeen,
they're twelve and one.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
Now.
Speaker 1 (30:14):
It's the prevocy example. It is the quintessential like it's
the defining win, defining one because it chose us that
the Chiefs always find a way to win. They're not
blowing anyone out yet they're twelve to one. No really
defined like how close every game has been and how
how they've barely won almost every game this season. That's
(30:35):
another example. By the way, Danny, I hate to William
the Spot. I was saying, do you have the Mike
Turrico call of that, because he's like gives like an
emphatic like the division when you're in dinker the doink.
I forget what he said, but yeah, I didn't notice that.
I mean it just for the division, Yeah, doink for
the division. Don't have for the division. Take take a
(30:55):
listen to Mike Rico a second. As I was Sam
but really sort of quintessential moment that totally epitomizes their season.
It really was so nineteen seventeen win over the charge.
I'll tell you what, I don't think just luck on
their side. But you know, teams need that, all championship
teams need, they need big moments. But he also need
(31:17):
a lot of luck. It seems like Mahomes just has that.
I don't have that luck. I hate to say it
because much like everyone, unless you're a Chiefs fan, you
want to see Buffalo or you know, some other team emerge,
the Lions or the Vikings or someone that hasn't been
there if your team's not in it. But I don't
think this is you know, every year we're like, well,
(31:38):
they're the worst eleven one or twelve to one team.
I don't think you could say that because while they
are just winning games by a small margin, they're finding
ways to win. It's not accidental. I don't think that.
I think that they know how to win. Yeah, I
agree with you. This is not a like, oh man,
they had a soft schedule and they're you know, ten
and two or something. This is a team that finds
(32:00):
a way to win, and that's that's a characteristic. I
don't think that's like, Wow, they're lucky.
Speaker 2 (32:07):
No.
Speaker 1 (32:07):
I agree, they know how to they know how to win,
simple as that. Let's hear Mike Turico's final call, the
kickle cut from Matthew Right. This is for the division,
for the Chiefs, for the division. It's the dyke for
the division. It's the doin for the division. He was
(32:31):
so proud of that, Mike, Danny G. You know what
I was thinking too. This is by the way, Fox
Sports Radio Nation. Things that made you go hm, any
observations you made. It could have been from the Navarette fight,
UFC Fight Night, whatever you were watching. Maybe it was
Mulwana II, whatever you did this weekend. Maybe it was
that Lindsay Lowan Christmas movie. Looks good. I thought she
looked good. She made me say hmmm. So whatever it
(32:55):
was that made you say, hmm, give us a call
A seven seven ninety nine out Fox. When you were
watching Baker Mayfield against your Raiders, Danny G, isn't there
a part of you that's like that has to slow
clap for the guy like he's a bona fide NFL quarterback.
He just plays the game so well, even when they're losing,
(33:15):
he's still competing and a team plays hard for him.
When when you think, like maybe a year or two ago,
two years ago, people like counting him out.
Speaker 7 (33:24):
Yeah, and the Raiders defense started out flat in that game,
and then he saw him step it up in the
second quarter especially, and picked him off and he had
a couple he had like three bad drives in a row,
and he was able to rise above it all in
the fourth quarter. So he does what Jamis Winston can't
do at the end of games. He had can't overcome turnovers,
(33:44):
but you know Mayfield can exactly.
Speaker 1 (33:46):
He had two interceptions, three touchdowns, but through for two
hundred and ninety five yards against Danny G's Raiders. When
I was watching that game, I just can't help but think, man,
everybody was counting him out like two years ago, and
look at this dude like he's It's like everybody forgot
that narrative and everyone's focused on, Oh, Baker Mayfield's doing
Baker Mayfield things well. And you know with the Falcons
(34:08):
looking like they're their wings got clipped, that team's in
a free fall, and Baker and the box, I think
Baker right there is the epitome of everything that Sam
Darnold's getting credit for this year, Like Danny is it
there a sentiment from watching him against your Raiders that
like they're a good team. They're not elite, but in
that terrible division. It looks like they'll come out of
(34:30):
that again. And for a while we thought it was
definitely gonna be Kirk Cousins and the Falcons.
Speaker 7 (34:35):
Yeah, and I mean, injuries might be a little bit
of a problem.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
They're young.
Speaker 7 (34:40):
Star running back Irving went out of the game hurt,
so you got to keep your eye on that. He
was a big part of their offense so far this season.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
There's one other thing I want to bring up. Now
we'll take all your phone calls and feedback. Things that
made you go Week fourteen, Did you see one of
the largest bets was made in NFL history Eagles game?
This is the greatest story that was wild. So three million.
Some dude in Kentucky bet three point one million dollars
money line for the Eagles to beat the Carolina Panthers.
(35:09):
Three million would pay four hundred and forty thousand roughly.
In the last minute of that game, Bryce Young drops
back to pass slant deep over the middle. Leget on
Carolina for a minute, looks like he has it, but
he doesn't. Yeah, if he holds on, if he doesn't
(35:31):
bobble that a little bit, that's the game winning touchdown
for Carolina and this dude and he won. He bet
three million to win, like four hundred. This guy probably
pooped his pants and as the joke goes, he definitely
has now a leget jersey. Oh yeah for dropping up him.
That kid dropping that ball got that guy off the
(35:52):
hook for almost losing three million dollars. Give me that money. Yeah,
here's that money. Did they acknowledge that during the Eagles broadcast?
Because they did on Red Zone? So on red Zone,
you knew what was going on there, and you're like, ooh, whoa,
this dude's about to lose three million dollars. They were losing.
It was sixteen to fourteen, so they had Scott Hansen
(36:14):
had said that, so anyone watching Red Zone was aware
of what was going on there, which made it more exciting.
But I was wondering if they had said it on
that actual broadcast, and you know what I might be saying,
I do think Carolina, I'm not saying they're there. Yeah,
but they're showing signs that they're competing. So I want
to be shocked if a Carolina type team made a
difference down the stretch in some of these type divisions,
(36:35):
because you know, we're looking at schedules as we schedule
watch and it's like, well, this team will they have Carolina.
Who's to say Carolina doesn't play spoiler to a team
where it's like, oh wow, like they just needed to
be Carolina and they lost.
Speaker 7 (36:48):
Carolina lost by three to the Chiefs when the Chiefs
were coming off their first loss, and then they lose
by six.
Speaker 1 (36:53):
Yeah, they're definitely more. They're better than they started.
Speaker 6 (36:56):
I'll tell you that again when you look at these schedules,
just to went out, Carolina gets Philadelphia in between Philadelphia's
game against the Steelers next week and last week against
the Ravens, trap game home easy, Rams get Buffalo before
the Lions game and prior to you know, right after
a snowstorm game against the forty nine ers, and you
(37:17):
have to fly cross country like some of these you're right,
Like if you know, especially if bigger fish are on
the horizon for teams, they overlook some of these games.
Speaker 1 (37:25):
And you know what, I mean, I thought Arizona was
gonna be the forty nine ers biggest threat. Now it's
clearly your Seahawks. But Arizona plays the Panthers in a
couple weeks, and if they're trying to fight with Seattle,
who's to say Panthers don't help you? Dann Bayer And
then they helped the Seahawks by beating Arizona. So we
shall see and all of your observations Week fourteen of
the NFL, Thanks again to Rapid Radios, Thanks again to
(37:49):
Iron Mike Keeper Stott, and by before you Know, I
can I give you the dumbest analogy, Sure, because that's
what I'm best at. Spot. You know, when we're in Vegas,
I knows the best Excuse me something in my throat, Yeah, Vegas, Vegas.
You know when we're in Vegas and we're playing craps. Yes,
(38:11):
And you know there are times we're rolling, you're up
a few hundred, times you're not doing well, you're down
a few hundred. You know the feeling when you're really
you really are down to your final twenty or forty bucks. Yes,
I know it very well. And there's a part of
you that's almost like just and the misery. Yeah, it's
almost like sometimes you'll just put an you'll put a
(38:32):
little extra on that last roll of the dice or
that last hand of the blackjack. Is deep down inside
you're like, just put me out of my misery. I
know I'm not winning. You win that hand, and it's
like just when you thought you were out, they put
you back in. Yeah, but there is that sense though,
like you started with. You know, you start at the
blackjack table with two hundred bucks, you're down to your
final twenty dollars fifteen twenty dollars hands, and you're like,
just you just flip a twenty so I know I
(38:53):
lose and I could go back to my room. Thanks.
I feel that way a little bit about the Niners
Rams Thursday night football. I guess if the Niners lose
to the Rams and I can officially be like, all right,
let me just watch objectively as a fan of the NFL.
But every game the Niners win from this point forward,
it's gonna give me a stupid hope. But they're not
gonna be the Lions. And the Lions are in their
(39:14):
future not happening, big dream. And and by the way,
Rich keeps going to this NFL playoff. He calls it
the playoff simulator. It is, that's what it is. It's
called the NFL playoff machine. No, it's even better sports.
She keeps going to this. It's to figure out simulator
two thousand, the NFL simulator, and he keeps going to
(39:41):
this on ESPN dot com, just to see if there's
any possible way. I think the Niners have less than
a tempercent the mathematical They have less than a ten
percent mathematical chance to make the post. I'm not rooting
against them, but you already said it.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
Man.
Speaker 1 (39:54):
You need l A and Seattle to lose Stephen. Yeah.
In the Conference forty nine, Ers would have been like
ridiculously better position had the Arizona Cardinals knocked down the
Seahawks and Notch and the Rams just get a big
win against Buffalo. And that's that's problematic for the Niners.
And Dan Buyer note, I'm now sort of in the
(40:15):
back of my mind rooting for as well the other
possible path. It sounds.
Speaker 6 (40:23):
Like, well, that's crazy, man.
Speaker 1 (40:30):
Could I read Dan Buyer's minds? Tell me your stupid
pipe dream? Rich I now I'm thinking I need to
equally root against the Washington Commanders because they have a
bunch of division games and the Niners would need someone
to completely poop the bed to make the postseason grumpy grumpy,
And as of right now, it is very difficult to
(40:53):
find the way the Niners get in the playoffs, even
if they do win out and beat the Lions. So
there's a part of me that's, like Thursday Night, your
success just wholly relies on some sort of Amber heard experience, right,
Is that what it comes down to? Grumpy.
Speaker 6 (41:08):
The other part of this is as a Seahawks fan,
I am fully aware because of the success of a
team like Minnesota or even green Bay, the first round
matchup that you get isn't ideal. Like who wants to
face Green Bay or Minnesota in the first round of
the playoffs? Even if you win that division, that wouldn't
be You wanted a bad wild card team or maybe
(41:29):
a team that was limping in, and that's not necessarily
the case. And even if the forty nine ers do
get in, they're likely to face one of the really tough teams.
Speaker 1 (41:39):
Guess what, Dan Byer surprise the Seahawks when I tell you,
why does rich have dumb hope for the Niners. Ay
because I'm a stupid fan, but also because the Seahawks,
who lead the division by a couple of games, their
next two are against Green Bay and green Bay and Minnesota,
and the Niners and the rest of the division have
(41:59):
lighter games. You could see this division being very close
with two to go. But all the tie breakers do
not favor the forty nine ers because they've lost all
these tie breakers. What what I say? Nothing? Nothing? Just
you know, your hope is cute, as you would say.
I want so dumped you? Hey, rich, how about this?
Speaker 7 (42:23):
What just tank the rest of the season and get
up higher than the fourteenth pick in the NFL draft.
Speaker 1 (42:28):
Yeah, you know what, maybe maybe that if they lose,
If they lose Thursday against the Rams, I wouldn't be
shocked if they did shut down certain players just officially
for the year. That wouldn't be shocking to me.
Speaker 2 (42:39):
All right?
Speaker 1 (42:39):
Would this be shocking too? It's based on a meme.
We're wrapping up things that made you go hmm this
weekend in sports or just in life, whatever you were doing,
anything you observed, maybe it was a movie you watched.
Let us know, I saw a meme. Actually, Danny g
sent this as meme. He says, the super Bowl America wants,
and it's the Bills and the Lions the super Bowl
(43:01):
we're somehow going to get because it seems like you
speculate all season long just to get the obvious Chiefs
Eagles awful? Do you think, I know, do you think
your thoughts on that? Obviously awful? But you think that's
gonna happen? What we want? You're right, Bill's Lions is
what two teams that have never done it? That's the one.
(43:23):
But what are we going to get? A rematch of
Hurts and Mahomes from two years ago? That's the one
you're probably gonna end up getting because again, you have
the joint for the division. You got Saquon Barkley now,
and you're right, they're being understated in the NFC. Yeah,
so there's some truth to that meme. Although we would
love to see the Bills Lions and you know, more
(43:43):
reason to root as I as I look around the
rest of the league, is there is there a team
that would bring you the same joint? Maybe Minnesota, maybe
maybe we see Kirk Cousins, that Kirk Cousins, we see
Sam Donald pulsing magic and that would lead them in
an interesting scenario. They if they went on a deep
(44:04):
run with Sam Donald, does that change the plan with
JJ McCarthy or not at all? I think it has
to some people, don't.
Speaker 6 (44:12):
Some people think that they are invested in their first
round pick and Donald will get will go and get
paid elsewhere. But I think at least you have to
consider something. And I don't know their full salary structure.
Speaker 1 (44:24):
But blood, I'll think it's something totally NFL related. Now
you're slaying at dB. Don't pay attention to me, Man,
Well you'll have like a schoolgirl because I just had
a thought and I really I couldn't contain myself Rich
for once. You know how it's like to be distracted. Right, Sorry,
so Dan, sorry to interrupt. Over the weekend, you know,
we say, h we went to jingle Ball, right, Rich
(44:45):
and I went to jingle Ball with our daughters and everything.
And it's this big iHeart Christmas concert. It's amazing. We
had a great time. What a show. And this guy
Benson Boone performed. I didn't know this dude for anybody,
Benson Boone, but he knows that he has a song
that I think everybody absolutely right, you absolutely heard it.
Then you're living under a rock and you're like, I
(45:08):
was blown away by the guy. I'm like, this dude
is an uber talent. Who is this guy? He's amazing? Right,
he blew me away? So I left a fan. I'm like, man,
Benson Boone guy was incredible. I didn't know anything about him,
saw him. He killed it. So I'm talking to these
iHeart big wigs in the back lounge and they're like,
what'd you think of the show? And I go off
(45:29):
to him and I say, man, that dude Bo Benson
was really something, and they're like, yeah, Benson Boone is
really great. Now, the funny part of the story is
bo Benson is one of the editors and producers. I
works your favorite recording artist. Yeah, Bo is sitting back
there right now in the editing studio. I told everybody
from my heart that man, that Bo Benson guy is great.
(45:51):
They looked at me like, is this guy an idiot
or something? And by the way, if you don't know
this song, bo Bo Benson walked away and then and
then I realized what I had said, and I felt
so dumb. The song Benson Boone sings that everyone knows
just if you live in life. But it made me say, hmm,
I'm like, this guy's a star, beautiful thing, beautiful things.
(46:14):
Yeah yeah, but Sam, play that one and if you
get stars star. My other observation, I saw Mowana to
with my kids and it was very clear that the
soundtrack was not Lynn Manuel Miranda. The music stunk. The
movie was fun, the kids liked it, but I don't
think your kids are going to be singing Mowana two
songs in the future. All right, damn Bayer. Let's do
(46:35):
an update and then Sam will play out with some
Benson boone. In terms of Benson Bill Benson, Yeah, bo
Benson's now the guy who runs this place. He's been
promoted that position. Yeah. He He was the best part
of the jingle Ball
