Speaker 1 (00:26):
You know it was interesting we get into this big
argument last week about gent the running back from Boise
State or Travis Hunter. Who would we pick for the Heisman?
I said Travis Hunter from Colorado, because I think college
football is uniquely dependent. All the arguments in college football
come down to who did you play? Like in the NFL,
(00:46):
it doesn't matter if you win your division, you're getting
a home game in the playoffs, it doesn't matter who
you played. But in college all the arguments are who
do you play? Even in recruiting, kids are like, well
who do you play? Do you get on television? So
in college foot ball, the Big Ten can have four
teams in the playoffs, and the acc he can have two.
Why who do you play? The Big Ten's better, better competition.
(01:08):
For years and years, the SEC has been considered the
best conference. Why because you have to go play all
these good teams. So to me, the Boise State running
back is very good. He had three touchdowns against Oregon,
the best team they played, so he's a first round
running back. But he had two hundred and seventy yards
and six touchdowns against Georgia Southern. There's a lot of
San Jose states in Utah States, and I'm not saying
(01:29):
Colorado had the toughest schedule in the country, but they're
facing Power five, big time programs, they're going on the road,
and he's the best athlete on the field. So I
think both are going to be great pros. The argument is,
what what do you do would Travis Hunter? What do
you do with him as a pro? I'd put him
at corner and either put him on returns or as
(01:50):
a number three receiver. I couldn't make him a number
one receiver and a number one quarter.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
I just don't.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
I think that's a lot to ask, But I think
he is a I mean, I think he's in all
time maybe not Dion Sanders level, but Sauce Gardner level corner,
and then I would use him as a weapon on
the offensive side. But I'm comfortable saying Travis Hunter because
he's so historically unique. They're all good kids, We're all
lucky to have all these kids that are so focused
(02:16):
on the right stuff. But I had him number one.
I'd put the running back for Boise State number two,
and I'm comfortable with it.
Speaker 2 (02:24):

J Mack with the News. Turn on the news.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
This is the herd Line News.
Speaker 6 (03:33):
I know we haven't talked about it much, but Lamar
Jackson had quite a Sunday against the hapless Giants, dealt
them their ninth straight loss this season. Lamar had five
touchdown passes Colin. It's the seventh time in his career
where Lamar has had as many or more passing touchdowns
five than in completions four. He also joined Mike Vick
(03:54):
is the only quarterback over six thousand rushing yards Ravens
role Lamar. You know, he is putting up MVP numbers.
He's had a better season this year than he did
last year. The only problem is they lost a bunch
of games during the middle age.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
I think I think the only question with Lamar is January.
I think he's bad. Uh uh. He can't play quarterback check,
but not as good in the pocket check. He's totally
committed the soul of the franchise. And I've said this before,
there are certain players in the NFL, even great ones,
that are replaceable. Like if Joe Burrow left Cincinnati tomorrow
(04:28):
and ended up, you know, in a good franchise or anywhere,
you'd be like, it wouldn't be that memorable the Cincinnati days.
I feel more than any player in the NFL, Lamar
Jackson feels like Baltimore. The toughness, the grit, the work ethic.
It's always been a tough It's never been a flashy franchise.
(04:50):
It is a tough barroom. I mean even the show
of the Wire. It's a tough city. You know, DC
gets all the glamour, Philadel all those these co cities.
Baltimore is the one that gets overlooked. Lamar Jackson was overlooked,
and his toughness and his leadership, how much he cares.
I don't think there's a player in the league that
(05:11):
symbolizes a franchise and the toughness and the work ethic
better than Lamar with the Ravens.
Speaker 7 (05:17):
I think you're right. Kind of an underplayed story regarding Lamar.
Speaker 6 (05:21):
Remember him and Derrick Henry were supposed to make this
offense incredible.
Speaker 7 (05:24):
Yeah, have you taken a look at Dereck Henry's last
I don't know, five games?
Speaker 6 (05:27):
I know, I not said he so he did erupt
against the Chargers, right, but four of the last five
games under eighty five yards.
Speaker 7 (05:34):
Rushing, and they've lost two of them. I'm just curious.
Speaker 6 (05:37):
Is he wearing down or is this strategic? Hey, let's
save to him for January. It's one of those two.
Speaker 3 (05:42):
We don't know.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
Listen, the NFL seasons longer than people think. The NFL's
now added another game. There is discussions for an eighteenth game.
To me, you have to expand the rosters. I agree
the idea we're lucky that. I mean, Mike McCaffrey got hurt,
Joe Mixon got hurt. Now Montgomery is hurt now down. Yeah,
(06:04):
there's certain positions in the NFL.
Speaker 7 (06:06):
Akay Dobbins, that injury is Christy.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
I mean, you could argue the running back because quarterbacks
are protected, kickers protected. There's wide receivers now you can't
hit them high. We don't protect running backs. So to me,
if you're going to expand the roster and play eighteen games,
teams have to add another running back. Too many teams.
I mean, now, now Detroit's lost their running back. That's
(06:29):
going to absolutely affect stylistically how they play.
Speaker 8 (06:33):
I guess.
Speaker 6 (06:33):
Final note Raven Steelers rematch this week. You saw how
much the Steelers defense was on the field. Hurt TJ
wats hurt high like Baltimore revenge spot. Remember Baltimore last
the last one in Pittsburgh, and I think they would
be tied for first if Baltimore wins, just so, that
could be huge in the playoff race Steelers that would
(06:55):
have to go on the road.
Speaker 7 (06:56):
A lot of things that stay.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
Steelers are really beholden to. George Pickens, I will I
will say, despite being outplayed, it was seventeen thirteen. If
Nauseie Harris doesn't fumble, you're sitting there thinking we got
a one score game. That was a huge turnle.
Speaker 6 (07:12):
Well also when Sique went out, I think it was
seventeen to three, and then it was like, oh boy,
this is gonna be a blowout. And then Pittsburgh got back.
You know, Saquon Barkley goes down. Eagles are in trouble.
Speaker 7 (07:21):
Next Doory Colin.
Speaker 6 (07:23):
Things that cannot be separated. Okay, your love for Sam Darnold, Yes,
me and the Jets.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
Yes.
Speaker 7 (07:28):
Will Levice throwing pick sixes?
Speaker 1 (07:30):
How about it, Colin?
Speaker 6 (07:31):
He threw another one yesterday in the loft of the
Bengals that it led to him getting benched by Brian Callahan.
Callahan has seen enough, he said this morning about the benching.
He doesn't know whose quarterback is this week.
Speaker 8 (07:42):
The easiest way to say is that there's a you know,
there's a standard that of play, and there's been multiple
guys in our team that we've sat down for perfense.
Those are all things that that are just a part
of NFL life. Thanks performance, China, went football Gas, and
you just have to make sure that when you're making
(08:04):
decisions and you're coaching, that that's staying across the board
for all positions. In quarterback positioning is a part of that.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
New information equals new opinion. If you look at the
draft order right now, I think the Giants, Raiders, and
the Titans at six are gonna draft quarterbacks.
Speaker 7 (08:27):
So Titans go Quinn yours or Jalen Milroe.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
Keep your eye on samdernald oh So in free I
thought it was Giants Raiders. Milroe dropped to nine, ten, eleven,
twelve thirteen. I think the Titans have come to terms
with it's just how out. First of all, I remember
when when he got drafted, Clay Travis is like, it's
not gonna work, and I'm like, Clay's got a big arm,
(08:51):
you know, because he watched all Will Levis in college
and he's a Titans fan, and I thought, give it
a shot. Yeah, it doesn't work. It doesn't work. He judgment,
he makes throws that you can't make, and now he's
got plenty of starts. So I think Giants, Raiders and
Titans are all either drafting or acquiring a quarterback. And
(09:14):
it's not a good quarterback year.
Speaker 7 (09:15):
It's not I don't know that.
Speaker 6 (09:17):
I wish the Titans offensive line on Sam Darnold. He's
not gonna have much of.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
A Titans at number six could go get the offensive
tackle Campbell from LSU and then get Riley Leonard the
second round quarterback.
Speaker 7 (09:35):
Tony Pollard looked okay, Tysei Spears has some pop.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Ridley's good.
Speaker 6 (09:40):
They got dude, they got some guys and I like
Callahan's the coach, so.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
Do I I have no I think the Titans you
just can't overcome multiple interception games.
Speaker 7 (09:48):
Yeah, it's a rough one final story, Colin.
Speaker 6 (09:51):
We are going to uh shduor Sanders, who's expected to.
Speaker 7 (09:55):
Be the number one pick in the draft.
Speaker 6 (09:57):
But the question is about is he gonna want to
go where he's drafted? And a report surfaced over the
weekend saying there was a high likelihood Chadur would refuse
to play for the Giants or Browns. Dion disputed the
rumor quickly on Twitter, saying, a lie. Don't care who
tells it. Please stop trying to become relevant by misrepresenting
(10:18):
my son.
Speaker 7 (10:19):
God bless you.
Speaker 6 (10:20):
I don't know what NFL rookie watches, but I obviously
shut it down.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
Can we just yeah, I don't know what that means.
Speaker 7 (10:27):
Well, everybody's chasing clicks and followers.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
And Chadur is the most polished of the quarterbacks. Cam
Ward's got a bigger arm and I think moves better.
So I think it depends on what you're looking for.
I think sometimes with cam Ard it feels a little
backyard football, but some people may want that. I mean,
Josh Allen moves, Lamar moves.
Speaker 6 (10:47):
It works.
Speaker 7 (10:50):
Raiders and Shadeur seem like a perfect SI.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
Wouldn't it be great?
Speaker 6 (10:53):
I'm gonna go ahead and put it out there. I'm
gonna go ahead and guess Dion is not gonna want shad.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
For the New York Giants.
Speaker 6 (11:02):
Well, I mean, the franchise has been totally rotten for
the last five years, right, they stink.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
Well, it's not like the Raiders have been out there dominating.
Speaker 6 (11:10):
Whose offensive line they can't get right? Well, the Raiders.
The problem is they have some affinity. Schadur seems to
like the Raiders. We know Dion has a relationship with him.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
It's fun.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
If you're a young guy with money, Well, that would
I mean veasy.
Speaker 6 (11:24):
And we talked about since they moved there, they needed
a face for the franchise.
Speaker 7 (11:27):
They had Gruden.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
Max Crosby is the face a.
Speaker 7 (11:30):
Defensive end is gonna be the face of your friend.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
I think he I think he is a Raider through
and through.
Speaker 7 (11:34):
He is, but he's you can't sell tickets.
Speaker 6 (11:37):
With Hey, we got Max Crosby. You can sell should
or Sanders go ask Colorado? They make the money hand
over fist to see.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
It was exciting. Yeah, would you draft him number one?
I would give him the choices. Yeah, probably. I don't think.
Speaker 7 (11:50):
I don't listen.
Speaker 6 (11:50):
I don't think he's in the class of Caleb Williams.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
No, no, no, no either or Daniel. He's not one
of those guys. No, but I think he's polished. I
think he's a kid that unders Dan holds onto the
ballow too long. But nobody's a finished product once you
get to the NFL. Nobody Andrew luck wasn't Nobody is
j Mack with the news.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping by the
herd Line news.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Oh my goodness, Baker Mayfield putting on a clinic. Mark
stand Jazz is now joining us Fox Sports NFL analyst
number five Pick ten NFL years. Boy, that was a
shocker yesterday. We'll get well, we'll get to that one.
Were you shocked dropping a forty burger on the Chargers.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
If they didn't turn it over twice?
Speaker 1 (12:34):
I mean it was they were, And we'll get to that.
Let me ask you this, So this season is much
more attrition than people think. Since you've played, they've added
a game on. They want to add another one on.
And I think the league gets athletes get bigger and
stronger every year. The hits are harder, and so I
(12:54):
look at Detroit and I really felt it yesterday. They're
running out of dudes, yea. And Buffalo's not, and frankly,
Philadelphia is so damn deep. I even look at Green
Bay and the Rams and Tampa is it. Did you
ever play for a team and you're like, we're just
running out of dudes.
Speaker 9 (13:15):
So we had my rookie year, we kind of backed
into the playoffs, and I talked about this last week.
The second year, we were we want a bunch of
games in the middle chunk of the year, that like
middle third, and we're starting to crescendo right at the
right time. And that's what some of those teams you
(13:35):
mentioned are doing. Unfortunately for Detroit it's the opposite. They're
going on the downturn. And that's the only fear. When
you start that hot, you just hope guys don't start dropping,
and if they do, it's a short break, right, you
miss them for two games whatever, you have, somebody patch
the hole and then move on. Unfortunately, they're losing guys
(13:56):
left and right, and they're catastrophic injuries. And now it
turned in to a hey, we got to outscore these
teams and changed the right formula to win every week
is based on your personnel. Well, when you start losing personnel,
and now it's okay, we're more of a one sided
team because our defense is so depleted that we got
to outscore you and kind of change our toughness identity
(14:17):
because if you'ren't outscoring the other team type ball club,
that's a more finesse group. Usually usually you know, you
can still run the ball and be physical, but generally speaking,
you're a little more finesse.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
That's not really what they are. Then you lose Montgomery.
Speaker 9 (14:31):
I mean, that was one of the best tandems in
the league when it comes to running backs, either them
or the Buccaneers. So they just kind of lost a
little bit of their identity because they lost so many
guys that were starting for them.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
And that's just you can't control that.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
And I think that's that you hit it.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
They lost.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
They're losing their identity. It's not just players, a bit
of their identity. It is deep talented layers two backs.
Now they're kind of.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
Like and everybody can only withstand so much. I mean.
Speaker 9 (14:57):
And it was interesting because we had that Bucks game.
I was closer to it and a little more I
guess aware, but hearing Todd Bowles talk about it, you know,
we have the luxury of talking to these coaches each
week going into games exactly. And so I asked him
about that and this war of attrition that we talk
about over the long haul of the season, and he
(15:20):
almost like cut me off and was just like, Hey,
these guys made the team for a reason.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
I'm getting paid to coach him. I got to coach
him up.
Speaker 9 (15:29):
I got to get him in the right spots and
it's my job. And we put in all these blitz
packages to get him in the right spot. And you know,
Antoine Winfield, he does these twenty things for.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
Us really well.
Speaker 9 (15:39):
Yeah, Well, the guy who's filling in for him, Meriwether,
he might not do all those things, okay, but what
does he do? Well, Yeah, let's try and keep him
in that zone, keep him in that strike zone, you
know what I mean. And I really appreciated that because
a lot of teams, you know, you use it as
an excuse and however you want to use it.
Speaker 3 (15:56):
I just appreciated that.
Speaker 9 (15:57):
He said, hey man, it was almost like he was
convincing himself not to go to negative town, like, oh
woe is me.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
We lost all these players. So I really appreciated that.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
I thought it was interesting with the Packers last night.
And we both know they're young and good, but those
first two drives they took Seattle's crowd.
Speaker 3 (16:12):
Out of it, and that's you got to do that
in Seattle.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
I'm sitting there watching, I'm like, man, they they talked
about that all week.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (16:19):
Oh, and you know, going into a hostile environment like that, it's,
you know, you're fifty three against the world kind of
mentality and enemy terror that I mean, we loved it.
That was our only chance, right. We didn't win the division.
Tom Brady was owning our division when we were playing. Yeah,
so we had to go on the road, and it
(16:39):
just felt like, Okay, this is what we do. And
once you stack one of those wins, you're like, I
like it, let's do it again. We're kind of the
villain coming into town, you know.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
Where the Grinch.
Speaker 9 (16:48):
We come in, We steal your Christmas and move on
and try and go take the next one. That's that's
kind of the way it feels. So I think they've
adopted that mentality for sure. And when you go to
Seattle like that, you better be ready early. And if
you're not ready early, you're gonna get punched and okay,
you're gonna be a little wobbly, and then you got
to try and come back and that's really hard to
do to shut that crowd up later in the game
(17:11):
after they're already going bonkers.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
So yeah, so I thought of you because I knew
you were on the show today and I thought about this.
So I've been joking today that Philadelphia is the strangest
great organization. And I mean, you got coaches on the
sidelines yelling you've got wide receiver drama. I mean they
run through coaches that make the Super Bowl. And I
(17:33):
actually thought, what was the last team that won a
lot of games that had a level of dysfunction?
Speaker 3 (17:38):
And I thought, Rex.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
Ryan, you guys had you were loud, it was noisy, okay,
But my take is it kind of worked for you
guys and for Philadelphia. I kind of feel like they're
very alpha, but it's kind of they I mean, the
GM's alpha, the owner's alpha, and everybody looks. I look
at them and I'm like, ugh, yeah, and I'm like,
(18:01):
they've got their they got a name for their security guard.
I know the name of their security guard. Go back
to your Jets team. It's raight, Donovan, So go back
to your Jets team. It was a loud team with
a loud media.
Speaker 3 (18:15):
It was loud.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
Did we look at it? Were we making more out
of what it really was?
Speaker 9 (18:19):
Some of this stuff like you know, I'm trying to
think of a story that blew up for no reason.
Anything on hard knocks, I'm sure got blown out of proportion.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
You know, it's just them.
Speaker 9 (18:31):
Yeah, like you know, the m and ms are you know,
whatever foot finish.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
There we go. What happened?
Speaker 9 (18:36):
It's not where other people were just like what like
I didn't even know that was a thing. Like some
guys on the team didn't even realize that was really happening.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
In the media, you weren't paying attention.
Speaker 9 (18:46):
And then you know, you go to your press conference
on Wednesday or Thursday and they have to tell you.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
They give you like a little briefing, you know, think
of like the president.
Speaker 9 (18:54):
You can't just throw them out there blind like hey,
good luck, you know, hey, we're gonna have this conversation.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
I'm sure they're going to ask about Russia.
Speaker 9 (19:01):
I'm sure they're gonna ask about this, you know what
I mean, Like, you gotta have an idea of what's
coming up. So then I hear about it thirty seconds
before I go up to the podium, and I'm like,
do I even have to comment on that? Is this
really a thing?
Speaker 3 (19:13):
Right? And who cares?
Speaker 1 (19:15):
Like New York does? No?
Speaker 3 (19:17):
I know, but my thing was like, Okay, maybe he's
in defeat. I don't know. Is that affecting if we're
winning these games or not.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
I'm unsure why the folks if you're just tuning in
New York.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
But I don't know. I just for Philly. It does
in some ways.
Speaker 9 (19:32):
I think it's distracting at times, but they have the personnel,
bottom line, they have the personnel to overcome that. And
when you have those kind of players and you start
winning games like this, dominating games like and you can
run the ball like that, come on, man, I mean
they they have five to seven players on each side
of the ball that other teams would kill for, would
(19:53):
give up the farm for, to like start a team around,
you know what I mean? Their whole offensive line is
one of the best lines in the league, and they
just demolish you up front. They own the line of
scrimmage and re establish it two yards down the field.
So I mean, yeah, a couple of loud stories and whatever,
this outside noise, I don't think it bothers them because they're.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
Just too good. They're really good. They are really good.
Speaker 9 (20:15):
And I know we're supposed to talk about the Packers,
and I went heavy on this Kayhawks, But if I
can circle back to the Packers, sure, because they're young.
But if you approach them as young in the playoffs,
I think you're crazy. That's a team young in trips
around the sun, not young in experience. Remember they went
to Dallas last year.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
And waxed them, dominating.
Speaker 9 (20:35):
Right, They won by sixteen eighteen, Okay, so that was
big time. Then they have the Niners on the ropes
and should have won that game. They're in the championship.
I mean, they're playing Detroit for the championship game. That's
what I'm saying. So this team, if you approach them like, oh,
(20:55):
this is a young team they're not ready for that'd
be a bad way go about it.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
In my opinion.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
Yeah, no, I agree with you. Okay, we're gonna take
a break come back. I'm interested. I said this earlier.
I would want no part of tamp in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (21:10):
Oh yeah, they're gonna be a tough out.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
Can't run on them, They'll run on you. House money,
Baker's hot, Evan's unguardable. Take a break back.
Speaker 2 (21:17):

Speaker 1 (21:27):
Here's the good news. Mark was the quarterback for the
Jets and their last playoff win. The bad news that
was twenty ten. I didn't I didn't mean. I'm just
telling the truth.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
I'm just I'm sorry that starting in left field.
Speaker 1 (21:42):
Okay, he braves, he brings tape. All I do is
drop facts. Okay, I watched Baker Mayfield. People think I
don't like Baker when he signed with TAMP, I said,
I got no problem with it. He's hit the grit
in the fit. It's gonna work.
Speaker 3 (21:56):
Ooh, grit and the nice So let's let's what do
you got for me?
Speaker 1 (22:00):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (22:00):
I listen.
Speaker 9 (22:01):
Tampa in general, I think they're formula to win. We
talk about this with a lot of teams. They run
the ball well, they stop the run well, they can
choke you out. Essentially they suffocate you. And the way
they do it is they limit your possessions. So instead
of anywhere from twelve to fifteen possessions a.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
Game, you're getting like ten nine and you.
Speaker 9 (22:19):
Better score on four to seven of those if you
want to have a really good offensive out outing that's
really hard. That's asking your offense a lot to do
a lot, and that's kind of where they get over
Vita Beya. I don't think he gets enough love. On
the D line. He is constantly dealing with double teams,
constantly knocking two players back, grown men just throwing them around.
(22:40):
So that was fun to watch. And when Baker takes
care of the football, I mean, Liam Cohen's got this guy.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
He's going to be a head coach.
Speaker 9 (22:48):
One hundred percent, just based on I mean, look at
Canalis last year. Look at Liam Cohen. He went right
in that spot, and he might have this team in
the same position, if not better, if they win a
playoff game. So I just appreciate his approach to third
Remember they're second in the league, I think in third
down behind Kansas City. So this is an explosive unit
on third down, and they do take chances, and I
think they do it at the right time, and they
(23:09):
align their guys in specific spots. They get information from
the defense. I think those are really important themes, and
then they trust Baker to cut it loose when it's
time to cut it loose. So when we roll the
first clip, when we talk about getting information from the defense,
they're gonna do it with the halfback and the motion.
And so watch the back and it's really the speed
and the pace.
Speaker 3 (23:30):
And this looks real.
Speaker 9 (23:32):
It looks we have it in slow motion, but it
looks real that they're gonna snap it and Rashad White's
gonna go fly into the left of the screen. So
those safety starts to trigger. So Baker knows, I got
a double cadence. Okay, I got them. They're going Manda, man,
I can confirm the defense. I know exactly what I'm getting.
So we zoom out to the all twenty two and
you see the man demand that Baker confirmed with that motion,
(23:53):
So that just gives them one thing in his back pocket.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
I know what I'm facing Now, normally these bunch.
Speaker 9 (23:57):
Sets, you have this guy closer to those stacked receivers,
but because he's a little farther in alignment dictates your
assignment and how the defense is gonna play you. So
these guys are gonna lock the point, and normally in
a bunch like this, when you send three defenders out there,
you're gonna lock the point one on one and then
combo the other two. The first guy's gonna take the
(24:19):
first one in. The inside defender will take the inside route,
the outside defender will take the outside route, and you
kind of zone those off till they end up in
your area and then attack your guy.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
Well because he's displaced.
Speaker 9 (24:30):
Also, they can't do that and he can potentially give
presence on Khalil Mack. So now you're affecting the D
line and their rush and their rush plan because if
he's gonna get chipped, he's got to prepare for that.
So because of where he lines up, they're just gonna
go man a man across the board. Yeh, look at
the problem with this congestion and traffic pattern for the defense.
Speaker 3 (24:49):
How do you get through all that?
Speaker 9 (24:51):
They're gonna release all these guys on the same level,
and it's gonna cause some serious issues. When they release
off the ball. Watch McMillan's going to run around and
watch the natural pick. He gets yeah from the other
two guys. He has the throw inside if he really
wanted it on the en route.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
But he puts a beautiful ball up in.
Speaker 1 (25:12):
The air that feels like it's almost unstoppable.
Speaker 3 (25:14):
Like that was well and it was executed well. It
was called at the right time. It was third and short.
Speaker 9 (25:20):
You knew you were going to get Man to Man
and you trust Baker to make the right decision. If
they get zoned off, you're gonna read auten to the
en route to the back right, and he trusts them
to do that. If you get Man, hey, this wheel
route's a high alert. Boom nailed it. They got Man.
He told him it was going to be Man. He
showed him in the walkthrough. He showed him with the motion.
It happened in the game. You could tell they're on
the same page. Next time it's third and long. So
(25:42):
remember on third and long. If you convert, you know,
third and ten plus, if you convert one for four,
you're probably leading the league.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
Same thing.
Speaker 9 (25:50):
If you throw you know balls over forty yards in
the air. If you hit one for four of those,
you're doing fine, right, So just keep those stats in
mind as we roll the next clip, because this next
clip is third and twelve. So remember one for four
and we're feeling great about ourselves as an offense. So
this defense is gonna present from the Chargers and Jesse
Mintter this sticks coverage. They're gonna put all three safeties
(26:12):
at the same level and they're all gonna be right
where the sticks are. They're gonna play everything top down
and react to underneath routes because they think these kind
of routes are coming.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
This is what a lot of teams do.
Speaker 9 (26:22):
They line up in three by one, put your best
receiver in a cut split, run them on a shallow cross,
and then tell these other guys to go block. It's
basically like a service type play for your best receiver.
Hopefully a broken tackle, hopefully a good block. Boom, you
get a first down and you luck into one great
or what Liam Cohen wants to do.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
Dude, let's go. Let's get aggressive.
Speaker 9 (26:42):
If we're going one for four on third down, who
cares we're going one for four on this go ball?
Speaker 3 (26:46):
Let's go.
Speaker 9 (26:46):
We got speed, we got size, we got a quarterback
who can rip it. Let's do it every once in
a while. I like taking a shot on third and long.
And so what do they do? All these dvs get
caught on the same level. And watch where Derwin James goes.
He's to play in the middlefield safety. He picks to
the right. So Baker's like, cool, I'm moving off of you.
Baker dropped back, stared right at Derwin James. Derwin James
(27:07):
goes right.
Speaker 3 (27:08):
He goes left. Will you get an East West double team?
Speaker 9 (27:10):
So in and out double team, there's only one way
to beat at Colin, and you'll never forget it because
it's Olivia Newton John not physical. But let's get vertical. Okay,
that's how you beat an East West double team. But
the other thing is apparently he had Mike Evans on
his fantasy team because he had three different touchdowns to
throw on this play. There's three dudes who could easily
(27:32):
get this throw, which is crazy to me. On third
and twelve, which means those guys were on their heels
expecting those underneath routes. You jumped them with your speed.
You threw routes right at him and you blew right
by him. So he throws this incredible ball to a
future Hall of Famer first ballot.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
Yeah, I mean this was beautiful.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
They have multiple guys.
Speaker 9 (27:52):
There's three touchdowns on one play. I mean, the only
regret on that play, if I'm Liam Cohne, is like, dang,
I wish we could have spread him out, you know
what I mean? So it was it was really fun
to watch. I think Baker's Baker's really coming into his
own and I'm telling you when he takes care of
the football. He had one bad interception yesterday. Other than
that it was just a little late, bad read, kind
of reactionary kind of throw, and other than that, he
(28:15):
played lights out.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
I want to wrap with this. Got a couple of
minutes left. If Bengals Joe Burrow barking at a coach
and I appreciate authenticity. I've said this before. I will
defend a pro athlete during a game on the sidelines,
Manning yelling at Jeff Saturday, Brady yelling at Josh. I
will always defend an athlete.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
What did you make of it? I mean he can
read his lips and you can tell what he's said.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
We played like blank, yeah.
Speaker 9 (28:48):
And I'm sure he's you know, the coach is trying
to give him, hey man, we're gonna be fine, you know,
trying to trying to love you up. And and I
get it. He's so competitive. He gets into a dark space.
You know, you can tell when he plays that dude's
nasty and he's like a hired assassin, you know what
I mean. He's sure like no emotion. I'm just I'm
(29:09):
here to win. And I don't just want to win.
I want to rip your heart out.
Speaker 3 (29:12):
So it's hard to console people like that, especially in
those in the moment. In the moment, you know, your
tensions are already high.
Speaker 9 (29:19):
So what are you going to say, like, yeah, coach,
you're right, we're gonna be okay, or it's okay.
Speaker 3 (29:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
I kind of like that Burrows standards though, are I
don't care that we're winning?
Speaker 3 (29:29):
Yeah, how we're winning?
Speaker 6 (29:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (29:31):
And you know, he's frustrated, just like a lot of
people there in Cincinnati. It's not going exactly the way
they thought, okay, And you know they're trying to fight
for their lives. So it's and their jobs and job
security and all that. So it's you know, there's a
lot going on.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
Okay, Patrick Mahomes gets hurt. Carson Wentz is a more
than capable backup. Would you worry if you're Andy Reid? Listen,
it's late in the season. Xavier worthies young, Noah Gray's young.
What if do you think he would go? I'm gonna
give you two to three weeks off. But I think
the receiving course kind of knew. Would you worry about
(30:06):
that at all?
Speaker 3 (30:07):
The relationship between the quarterback and receivers.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
Kelsey I don't worry about.
Speaker 3 (30:11):
But yeah, I.
Speaker 9 (30:13):
Think some of it would just be their chemistry in general.
The other thing, you know, quarterback to receiver and time
on task and stuff Like Mahomes is getting all those
reps in practice, he knows the body language whatever. The
other guy's only watching, right, Carson Wentz is only watching
those reps, taking in as much as he can. But
the one thing I'll say about Andy Reid is go
back to whoever's played for him. Every quarterback has had
(30:36):
some level of success playing for that guy. I don't
care if it's Kevin Cobb, Jeff Garcia McNabb. The laundry
list is long. It's like a CVS receipt. The dude
is just a quarterback whisperer, and he's gonna put you
in great situations and the stuff you can't handle, he's
going to keep that away from you. And we'll play
a little more conservative approach. And if the other team
(30:58):
beats us, they beat us. We're not going to give
it away, you know what I mean, and expect you
to do something that Patrick does or expect you know,
Kevin Kobb to do something that Michael Vicker or Donovan
McNabb can do, you know what I mean. Like, he's
not going to do that to these players. So that's
probably the least of my concerns there.
Speaker 3 (31:19):
Because I trust the head coach.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
Yeah, they're sometimes I think, you know, watching Burrow and
watching Mahomes, we forget that it's not just a Sunday business.
Speaker 10 (31:31):
Oh No, there's a lot that goes on. That's all
we see, of course, of course, but it's Yeah, the
Andy Reids Wright like the ability to play chess, relate.
Speaker 9 (31:41):
And not to say it's easy not to say he's
not gonna, you know, have some sleepless nights there.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
But again, the last guy to win a Jets playoff
game I will not mention the year. Apparently that's sensitive.
Hey there's somebody unoffended. I'll see you tomorrow.
