Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Well, he was the first person. It was on Monday
night during the game that Jordan Schultz broke the story
that Jerry had contacted Dion Sanders. Edward advanced the story
today that Dion would take the job. So let's let's
get down to the skinny here. Werder knows what he's doing.
(00:47):
Did Jerry get a hold of Dion on your Monday
report or Okay, so that's how it endeditionated.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
Yeah, So what happened was during that week long process
in Limbo with Mike McCarthy, Jerry's now thinking I might
to think about a viable candidate moving forward, and the
name Beyon Sanders gets brought up and Jerry gets excited.
We know Jerry loves his flash. Yeah, any especially during
the playoffs. This is his opportunity. We're not in the playoffs,
but we could still have some fun.
Speaker 4 (01:13):
We can be relevant.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
So he calls Dion, and Dion and him have a
really good, positive conversation. It wasn't even a formal interview,
but it's the relationship over the last three decades. It's
the fact that Dion, maybe more so than anyone else,
understands the gravitas, the cachet, the prestige of the Dallas
Cowboys calling, and the fact that Dion in many ways
(01:34):
has run his program at Colorado. I know you've talked
about this much like an NFL team, much like the Cowboys.
They have become the focus of college football. Didn't matter
that they weren't in the College Football Playoff, but I
think Jerry really respected the fact that they go from
four wins to nine wins, and the fact that in
many ways, Dion Sanders is like the type of person
(01:56):
that can come to Dallas even without any head coaching experience,
and get it from day one and maybe more importantly,
be able to relate to Jerry on a personal level,
and that matters a lot.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Now. Jerry doesn't historically do buyouts, correct, but he would
have to do one here.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
He would have to do it. It would be substantial. I
don't know the exact number. I would imagine they would
approach somewhere around ten million dollars and be a big number.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
He would have to do it here.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
But they backed themselves into a corner. I talked about this.
It was a self inflicted wound. If you're a Jerry Jones,
I don't understand what over that final week with Mike McCarthy. Colin,
do you not know from five years with the guy?
And because they didn't fire or extend Mike McCarthy, they
do not have the opportunity this week to interview in
(02:40):
Aaron Glenn, to interview Avan Johnson.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
If they are going.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
To get those slips permitted, it will have to wait
till next week. So as a result of waiting with McCarthy,
the Cowboys are behind the eight ball.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
So was it McCarthy and Jerry Jones. I don't it
Probably wasn't feisty. I'll tell you. I theorize. Yeah, McCarthy's
using Don Yee as an agent, correct and one once
Rabel signed with New England, Don Yee said, you're the
(03:14):
number one candidate. Ask for five guaranteed years. Jerry won't
give it to you. No, way never that's right. Jerry
won't give you five no, but it will allow you
to interview for jobs. Correct, So my guess was right.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
I think there's there's something to that. He also has
Mike McCarthy does a real relationship with Mickey Loomis in
New Orleans, and I think it's been made clear to
me that for all intensive purposes the Chicago job.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
And I haven't said this publicly, but it.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
Is a two horse race between Mike McCarthy and Ben
Johnson now it is it is. I think if Brian
Floores goes in and wows him, then he is still
in that mix. But right now, I think McCarthy and
I think Ben Johnson are the two leading candidates for Chicago,
And it will be really interesting to see what Chicago,
what type of direction they want to go, because in
(04:04):
many ways, the franchise is Caleb Williams ideally for the
next decade plus.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
So they're gonna get Caleb said yesterday or the day
before on Amaran Saint Brown's podcast, I'd prefer an offensive coach.
I can totally get it. So they're gonna give him that.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
They're going to give him an offensive coach. I believe,
but he's not going to have a say in the hiring.
He's yes, he's a number one pick, Yes he's the franchise,
he's the cornerstone, but he's still a second year player.
It's not like he's going to Kevin Warren and Ryan
Pole saying give me Ben Johnson. That's he's not going
to influence the decision in that capacity. But they also
recognize the Bears do that they have now had Mike Mattieberflus,
(04:40):
Luke Getzi, Shane Waldron, all these coaches that have not
connected to their players, especially this year with Caleb and Waldron.
So they're desperately in need, in my opinion, of an
offensive coach and innovator that will help get Caleb from
point A to point B. And if you look at
Mike McCarthy, he's not a perfect coach, but one thing
he has done very well is help develop and Aaron
(05:02):
Rodgers help develop a Dak Prescott.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
I think in.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Theory he could do the same thing with Caleb. Although
if I'm the Bears, my number one choice should be
Ben Johnson because of how he's resurrected Jared goffin show.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
But Ben Johnson apparently is the Raiders' primary target right now?
Can you validate it? Have you heard it? Can we
just have a Raider update.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
I'm not willing to go so far as to say
that Ben Johnson's the favorite with the Raiders.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
I know the Raiders really like him.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
I know that he has multiple options including Jacksonville, which
is a really good job, and the Bears. And we
know he interviewed with the Patriots and the reason he
did that was so that he could have a trial run,
knowing that it was most likely going to be Mike
Rabel and that's exactly what happened.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
So he interviewed on purpose with New England first. But
the Raiders are.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
In the mix, and we've talked about this. Tom Brady's
a big factor there, as he should be. But if
you're Ben Johnson and you have your pick of the litter,
you're going to take a long look at where you
can win and where you can develop.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
And the Raiders, although a lot to be said.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
About that franchise, historically do not have a quarterback and
they do not have the roster quite frankly as a
Chicago or a Jacksonville.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays
and noone Easter, not a Empacific.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
What is the key to the Jets job? Yeah, last
year it was get a hired guy. Last year it
would get along with Aaron. I don't think that's the
key anymore.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
Yeah, So I have to be careful here because our
our friend harl Old J.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Mack gets a little sensitive.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
This is still a marking job.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
The marquee franchise and an owner and Woody Johnson who
will give you time. He gave Joe Douglas six years
Colin six years without a single playoff appearance.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
That's almost unheard of.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
So executive GM candidates are looking at the Jets like,
if I go there, not only can I build, but
I'll have the time, I'll have the runway. And there's
a lot to be said about that. But I think
I believe that Jets will have a I believe the
Jets will name a GM within the next week, maybe
a little sooner, and then you'll have the head coach,
and then you can have the Aaron Rodgers discussion. But
(07:08):
that's a fluid situation in the sense that if the
new GM comes in and believes that Aaron is a
viable bridge quarterback. There's a possibility that Aaron comes.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
Back next year.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
Most people around the league believe that Aaron is done well.
They do most people, But I'm not willing to say
that necessarily because if the GM comes in and says,
I think Aaron with this roster can win US ten
to eleven games if we keep him up right, that's
possible that he comes back.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
I think it's also possible.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
And you know, there are a lot of scenarios, a
lot of teams that are desperate for a quarterback. And
then we want to talk about Sam Darnold, and then
we want to talk about what direction does Pittsburgh go.
I'm not reporting this, but hypothetically, what if someone like
Aaron becomes available, does Pittsburgh look at him?
Speaker 4 (07:49):
It's not just the Jets.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
He played well enough down the stretch of the season
to have another option.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Let's let's talk about the Steelers. They're in the same
predicament they were in twenty twenty two. They need aquarterback
and it's a bad quarterback class. I would take a swing.
My take is TJ. Watt, George Pickens, two first round picks.
Can you get up to Shador Sanders territory. If you could,
I'd think about it.
Speaker 4 (08:13):
Wow, that's a colossal trade. I don't think I'm giving
up TJ.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
Watt okay, and as good, Pickins is great, but we
know that he has had issues there and that they
have had to discipline him. They really believe in his talent,
and you wonder whether or not they would move him.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
I'm not willing to go there.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
But to your point about Zdoor, Sanders or camp Ward,
it's considered a two quarterback draft. I wonder if someone
were to slip, could Pittsburgh then move off. That's what
I'm saying, But I'm also thinking, if I'm the Steelers
were four and two adjustin fields, two and zero against
playoff teams, do we give him another look? Russell Wilson
six weeks ago they thought he could be the quarterback
(08:53):
for the next two or three years.
Speaker 4 (08:54):
But willing to move off that completely.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
But I think what happened is when Russell struggled against
better teams justin fields, you're not gonna have to pay
him as much. I would guess as Russell Wilson, So
why not if we don't know if Justin's the future,
let's give Justin the job next year and then next
year we make our big run. I like that because
next year's quarterback draft class I'm told much better.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
Yeah, and listen, I think the Steelers, I'm not. It's
still too early, and I think they're gonna take their time.
They're not gonna be raft. They know they have an
opportunity now with a very good roster, a lot of
pieces there. If they were to have the right quarterback,
and we thought it was Russell Wilson, but they're gonna
take their time. That's I would say, out of all
these teams looking for a quarterback, it wouldn't be surprising
to me at Pittsburgh waited till the end and waited
(09:40):
till the draft.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
Sam Darnald. I think it's fairly clear that they're gonna
give JJ McCarthy a shot. He elevated and rebooted Darnald's career. Yeah,
you picked the quarterback early, you gave up picks, Go
ahead and play. Donald has a market. I kind of
feel like it's a Baker Mayfield market. Give me a team.
(10:04):
I think the Colts is the play. I'll plant my
flag on this. I like Indy's roster quarterback. I don't
think it's close. I could argue in Seattle and I
love that roster. Gino for another year can win his
nine games. I think it's done tenable In Indy. I
don't think that's an NFL starting quarterback. I thought for
(10:26):
a year it was fun. It just doesn't work. Darnald Colts.
Will they be in the running.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
You're saying, go to Shane Steichen who did wonders for Jalen.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Hurtz, and Justin Herbert is a rookie, right, that's true.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
No, Snichen is a really good quarterback guy. They drafted
Anthony richardson the top five. I know they love his talent, but.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
He's hurt a lot, and the accuracy stuff is so
young though. Yeah, I know, but old. Name a quarterback
who was really wildly, historically inaccurate.
Speaker 4 (10:52):
Josh Allen was the guy coming out.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
But by year two he wasn't getting hurt and he
was jumping over lineback and he was putting up running
in passing numbers that were redeemable.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
Yeah, I think Indy could be in play with Donald.
There's there's quite a few teams that could be in play.
And we said last week, if Darnald struggled again, you
said it, yeah, that his runway with the Vikings was
probably up.
Speaker 5 (11:17):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
I would say most likely he's played his final game
in Minnesota because the tag is going to be right
around forty. There's no reason for Quacy to say, in
KOC we're going to tag you now and pay forty
when his contract's not going to come into that number.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
The Baker Mayfield one hundred million over three is probably
about right.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
For Sam Darnold, he played so well the second half
of the season, but what happened in the last two
games nine sacks, a record against the Rams, He's awful,
two picks, was.
Speaker 4 (11:46):
Really bad against Detroit.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
And then you have Minnesota thinking, not only did we
draft JJ McCarthy, but he was excellent in the preseason.
Someone there told me before the as the season was
getting going, that we have like, there's no question JJ
mc arthy's the guy. Then he has the meniscus surgery
and he has to miss the season. They really believe
in him.
Speaker 4 (12:05):
They also brought in Daniel Jones and a very small mackup.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
So I wonder if Minnesota just decides to let Sam walk,
which I think is more likely at this point, then
they have McCarthy healthy and Daniel Jones.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
Go out and battle battle out for next year.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
So Jerry Jones, let's pivot back to Cowboys, Dion Sanders Jerry,
by the way, the story breaks during a game that
I'm interused.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
I just showed j Mack I got I got four
hundred unread text right now. I'll show you after the
segment four hundred from what Well after that, after we
dropped that Dan report, the phone went crazy because not
only is it Dion and the Cowboys, but everyone wants
to know how real is Now? What do people on
your phone say? Well, it's it's a lot of teams
saying is that is that real? It's a lot of executives,
(12:54):
it's a lot of agents saying is this a push
to get more money? I don't think it is. He
has too much respect for Richulwards, the ad in Colorado,
and I think also Jerry being so excited about having
Dion return to the Star and what that would mean
for the Cowboys.
Speaker 4 (13:11):
So it's a lot of question marks.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
I can't I'm going to show you some of these
texts that you'll be like, Wow, that's that's crazy.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
I can't play.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
But I believe should Dion, It's been made abundantly clear
to me, should Dion want the Cowboys job, that he
will either be at or certainly near the top of
the list, and that means it's very real. But he
has to want the job, and I still think we're
figuring that out. But because he has the relationship with Jerry,
that's why he can call up Deon Sanders and not
(13:38):
even schedule the formal interview. And I think to a
degree a much lesser extent, he has some of that
with Kellen Moore. That's why they waited with Kellen Moore.
He knows him, He's been in the building. But I
believe that Dallas is absolutely hell bent on getting this higher,
not only right, but having it have some pizaze, some
some panash, some splash. And if it's not Dion, Kellen
(13:59):
Moore's another name that makes a lot of sense. But
they Robert Sama. It needs to be someone that understands
that market.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
Further record, my staff did a good job, so we
were comparing Josh and Anthony Richardson. So Josh Allen came
into the league, completed fifty three percent his rookie year
in college, rookie year here, second year he was close
to fifty nine percent. Third year he was close to seventy.
Speaker 4 (14:19):
That was a huge jump.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
Okay, Anthony Richardson almost sixty percent is a rookie dropped
to forty seven percent. So I could argue Josh had
a lot more starts in college and grew in one direction.
The more video you got on Anthony Richardson, who was
hurt more than Josh, the worst he got, it's as
if the league went, yeah, he's got about two things
(14:40):
he can do, cut those off. So whereas Josh, it
was like, Ooh he's good. Oh wow, he's really good.
Oh we can't stop him. With Anthony, it's like there's
something there. We solved the puzzle. He's limited.
Speaker 4 (14:52):
How about the Rams, by the way, for what the Rams?
I mean, what what a story? We have? Two minutes?
Like Rams?
Speaker 1 (14:58):
Well have they missed the last three years on a
defensive draft pick? They're all great?
Speaker 4 (15:04):
How good is Jared Burthz? I mean, these kid's unbelievable?
How well have they drafted? Think about this, they're one
and four.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
They have not only Cup and the Coupa hurt, then
they have the two linemanher of Vila and Jackson they have.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
Their defense is.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
Decimated, Tyler, take me the tight ends did.
Speaker 3 (15:21):
Even play most of the season. It was told to
me that Week eight was the pivotal point. They beat
Minnesota on Thursday night. Had they lost that game, I think,
and I think most teams believe, it wouldn't have been
a fire sale Colum, but it would have been the
Rams would have been open for business. That doesn't mean
they were gonna trade Cup, but they were going to
be open for business and realize that this season was over.
(15:42):
They beat Minnesota, they rattle off ten of thirteen, the
defense over the last four games under nine points allowed,
with all their starters in play. And when you think
about Matthew Stafford, unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
How well he's played. Finally has a healthy old line.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
The old line there, it is right there, and I
think Matthew Staffords is All of Famer.
Speaker 4 (16:01):
Almost one hundred wins, super Bowl champ.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
Comeback Player of the Year, fastest ever to sixty thousand
passing yards. There's so many factors with Stafford, but the
connection with McVeigh and then taking a step further a
few years ago, the Rams did something that very few
teams want to do, which is realize, we're not a
player or two away. We are multiple guys away. So
they ripped the band aid off and that's when they
move on from a Bobby Wagner, a Leonard Floyd of
(16:25):
von Miller, Jalen Ramsey, and then they start to retool,
they start to hit on the dragon.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
Last year was the rebuild year and they made the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (16:33):
And Aaron Donald retires. I didn't. We said probably.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
About two months ago, six weeks ago, that if the
Rams could somehow get healthy, that that's the team not
only in the NFC West, but potentially in the NFC
that nobody wants to play.
Speaker 4 (16:47):
And I know how good Philly is. We all do.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
But if you're a Philly and you're thinking, we really
got to deal with the Rams now, this team is
as hot as anyone. They have as good a coach
as anyone, in a quarterback playing about as well as anyone.
Speaker 4 (16:58):
So that's an if I'm a Rams finished.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
Jack J Max said, So I picked the Rams to
win the division and old Jmack said, you can't replace Donald,
and I said, that's true.
Speaker 4 (17:09):
I mean you can't.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
He's after Reggie White, the greatest defensive Lineman I've ever said,
but I said, they've been planning it because Aaron Donald
was up front of the organization. Aaron said, I got
a couple of years here, and so they started drafting
the defensive line two and three years ago, and they've
hit on all of them. And now their pass rush
is equal to Donald and von Miller. But they're not
paying anybody yet.
Speaker 4 (17:30):
It's it's unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (17:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
And if you watch them in the first month they
had eight sacks, they had ninety gainst Minnesota. You're watching
it's like it's like you're watching the Rams in the
last month. Grow these guys, Like by next year it'll
be a top three defense in the league. They're all
they haven't missed on anybody.
Speaker 4 (17:48):
Yeah, and they are I would say, arguably.
Speaker 3 (17:53):
The best ones, one of the best, one to two
punches at receiver and now a healthy offensive line with
a quarterback who's upright and comfortable and one of, if
not the best play callers in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
Pretty exciting.
Speaker 1 (18:03):

the news heard on the news.
Speaker 2 (19:35):
This is the herd Line News.
Speaker 4 (19:37):
All Right, we're gonna revisit rams Bills.
Speaker 8 (19:40):
So if you remember back in Week four, Baltimore dismantled
Buffalo thirty five to ten, just a beat down. Josh
Allen got pulled late in that game. They were it
was over. Josh Allen also knows things are much different
this time around for both teams.
Speaker 5 (19:55):
I thought we've grown quite a bit since that game,
obctually learned a lot from from those moments going back
and watching it. Obviously wasn't our wasn't our best effort.
You know, felt like we didn't play our best football.
But again that's they They got a really good team
too that they're they're playing this week for a reason.
Their defense the last really eight eight to ten weeks
(20:17):
has been superb. On their offenses, fantastic as well. They
got a lot of a lot of studs over there,
led by Lamar obviously, and it's a it's a tough
team to play regardless.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
Got some numbers for you. Look at this Buffalo offense
in that game.
Speaker 8 (20:34):
Con not great, but that was rock bottom. Sometimes you
got to hit rock bottom before you bounce back. And
again this is I mean, this is that team did
not have a Marii Cooper. You know this is a
that team at Keon Coleman and his fourth career game,
Coleman emerged as a player.
Speaker 4 (20:50):
I don't think we're gonna see that.
Speaker 8 (20:52):
You think is a high scoring game, a shootout, a
low scoring game.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
There's gonna be points, the totals. The Rams Eagles is
low scoring.
Speaker 4 (21:03):
Washington Detroit's gonna have points.
Speaker 1 (21:05):
I think that's by the way, this story just came
down Zave Flowers Pro Bowl receivers Zay Flowers is the
only Ravens player not practicing today. He hasn't practiced, uh
since injuring his knee in the regular season finale twelve
days ago. So Ravens play at the Bills. So I
just just cancels a Flowers out.
Speaker 4 (21:24):
Well from a prop perspective.
Speaker 8 (21:26):
Who takes his spot and I saw that likely the
tight end interesting, shifted him outside into the slot.
Speaker 4 (21:32):
You can move him around. He's a twitchy guy. I
would be looking at props for likely and they just
don't have receivers. That scare you. I think Buffalo loads
the box and says.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
Hey, I think Derek Henry is going to have that
kind of game again.
Speaker 4 (21:47):
I don't see it. I feel like this is very rarely. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:51):
It's like the Rams after that perfect Bill's performance, moren
is good. The next week, the Rams are not going
to play that well against Philippa cold weather, much better defense,
more pressure, Kyraen Williams banged up.
Speaker 4 (22:07):
All right, let's get to uh, let's get to the
next story calling.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
That is Chiefs Texans.
Speaker 8 (22:11):
That's also a rematch, not getting a lot of pub
They met in week sixteen, which was what like a
month ago. Casey did win twenty seven to nineteen and
it locked up the number one seed. It wasn't a
blowout though, it was not nip and tough, but it
was it was within the spread for a while. C. J.
Shroud says the familiarity of facing the defending champs less
than a month ago is beneficial.
Speaker 9 (22:33):
He definitely got to go back and you know see
you know, things that worked, things that didn't work, you know,
and things that definitely helped playing them so recently. But
you know they also have that advantage as well, so
you know, we got to be able to you know,
still have a new game plan and do things that
are you know, new, and but yeah, it definitely does
help to see a familiar team again and you know
(22:55):
they're you know, they do a lot of great things
and you know, we didn't really see a whole bunch
of it, I think of the Exotic game, so you know,
I wouldn't be surprised if that stuff started to show up.
So yeah, but it definitely does hope that we've seen
him not too long ago.
Speaker 1 (23:08):
All right, mcveighan read extra time forget about it.
Speaker 8 (23:11):
Well, so if you remember that other game, which was
also in Casey, Tank Dell caught the touchdown pass to
tie it, except he got injured on the play. There
was a long delay and they missed the extra point.
All the momentum out the window. Casey kind of takes
over from there and then attacked on a leak.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
But it's different. Houston and the weather's different. Houston cold weather,
Rams cold weather do not like the Texans and Rams
this weekend. It's a different ballgame.
Speaker 4 (23:40):
Nico Collins really the only threat. I'm telling you.
Speaker 8 (23:42):
Without Digs and Dell, they just don't have the horses outside.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
Yep. You can defend a team much differently when you
don't have to worry. I mean, I'm I'm surprised. Maybe
this is just the state of the Steelers that without
Zay Flowers, the Ravens are like, so what, We'll rush
fifteen straight times. You're not doing that against Buffalo. I
don't because you can't. You You're gonna have to throw
the ball to beat the Bills because the Bills are
gonna drop twenty eight on you.
Speaker 8 (24:04):
I did drop a little bit on Texan's first half
plus six under the guys that basically the Chiefs have
had three weeks off. By week week eighteen, it's like,
I think since Christmas is the last day Patrick Mahomes
took a snap Colin, so maybe they start slow Houston
momentum from last week. You've got to figure slow it's
coming out aggressive here. You can't come out with Joe
Mixon dives into the line of scrimmage. This is an
(24:26):
empty the playbook kind of game, right, and I think
Houston shows up in the first round.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
I don't know how Houston wins this game. I can't
see it. I just can't. I can't picture it all.
But Andy Reid by Houston and cold Weather Patrick Mahomes,
I just can't.
Speaker 4 (24:41):
I just I saw stat divisional round.
Speaker 8 (24:43):
I think you had it earlier. He's six and zero,
but then I jug a little deeper. Sixteen touchdowns in
this round, zero picks. Mahomes Is just is a different
beast in January. Chiefs fans who hate do think I
hate them.
Speaker 4 (24:54):
I'm saying nice things, all right. Final story, Colin.
Speaker 8 (24:56):
We will wrap up with Rams Eagles Kellen Moore getting
a lot attention as a head coaching candidate.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
Now.
Speaker 4 (25:03):
We talked about this during the commercial break earlier.
Speaker 8 (25:05):
Kellen Moore is doing three job interviews in the next
three days.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
Don't love it.
Speaker 4 (25:10):
Per league rules, the interviews must be.
Speaker 8 (25:12):
Virtual and cannot last more than three hours. He's talking
to the Cowboys, Jags, and Saints. Listen best I can tell.
No Rams coordinator is interviewing for anything. I haven't seen
any reporters they're locked in on this game. Kellen Moore's
got three job interviews. This is first year, but right
(25:33):
with the Eagles is the offensive coordinator. It's not like
he's been here like five years.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
By the way, did you notice earlier Jordan said if
they don't hire Dion, Kellen Moore would be some flash.
Well I wouldn't be excited about that if I was
a Cowboy fan, would I? I was trying to read
about why is that exciting?
Speaker 4 (25:50):
Why did they run off Kellen Moore?
Speaker 8 (25:51):
And some people were speculating at the time that McCarthy
was a little they.
Speaker 4 (25:56):
Liked this guy too much. Let me get him out
of here. Remember they had a bad playoff loss and
the play calling with.
Speaker 1 (26:01):
I don't know it is. I'm asking, does Kellen Moore
excite Cowboy fans? That doesn't feel big? I'm not a
Cowboys I mean, if you're gonna go get a coordinator,
go get go, get Ben Johnson. I don't think I
think Ben Johnson though we've I mean, when you took
up Ben Johnson.
Speaker 4 (26:18):
Missed the window because Jerry messed around with McCarthy. They
missed the window to set up an interview with Ben Jonson.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
So, but I can call him, I can say this
is Jared. I must been a lot of money on this.
Why don't you just hold off here and come down
to Texas?
Speaker 4 (26:35):
Okay, here we go.
Speaker 8 (26:35):
Weather report in Philly high of thirty six, eighty percent
chance of snow, but.
Speaker 4 (26:40):
Only one inch.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
Okay, yeah, it's over.
Speaker 4 (26:43):
It's over for the Rams.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
You're calling it eighty percent chance of snow.
Speaker 4 (26:46):
You know less Need is watching. It's her.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
I love him, but eighty percent chances store.
Speaker 4 (26:49):
Not only one inch, just not a lot.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
One of them is a run team. One of them
needs Stafford a deal. Hey, if they win, my bad.
Speaker 8 (26:59):
Who's the biggest upset chance of the big three spreads
you need?
Speaker 1 (27:03):
Who's went more commanders?
Speaker 4 (27:04):
Rams? Commanders, Oh, commanders over the Super Bowl favorites.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
I'm not saying it's happening. I'm saying, but if Jayden Daniels,
you know, the downside to be in a favorite, especially
off of bye bys don't help. We think they do.
Speaker 4 (27:19):
They do football. Every team that had a by no,
that is college.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
But there's something to be said about you're rusty. I
don't think boys matter. I think boys matter for an
old NBA team, an extra day off is like a
big deal like Lebron off. An extra day and a
half rest is a different player. But I don't think
in the NFL like like there are like San Francisco
last year was getting old, Like that's a team that
(27:43):
could take it extra day. By the way, Stafford's a
little older haven Stein the Rams Cooper Cup. The Rams
are a team like on extra rest. They're good now
they're on short rest, and they travel across country. That's
another thing, Like the Rams offense is old in spots, agreed, jmckle.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
The news, Well, that's the news, and thanks for stopping by.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
The herd Line news tomorrow is blazing five. I think
we're gonna line up on the I think we both
like Buffalo. You're trying to talk yourself into the Rams.
I can see it. Here's the thing is that this
was a year in college and pro for favorites. So
usually generally speaking, the wise guys slash sharps take points,
(28:30):
and so for years and years, talking to Chad Millman
and guys who do this, I would say I am
an underdog. Better I was terrible this year. You figured
out very early the Rubik's cube, and you did more favorites.
I had a terrible year on Blazing five. I had
a winning week last week, and I really like my picks.
But I think it's easier now the variables. I mean,
(28:51):
you kind of know what you get when you have
a good quarterback. I feel like I kind of know
what I'm going to get from everybody. I thought we
both thought Darnold could struggle a little. By the way,
balth you and I said before the Rams Vikings, it
wouldn't be a quarterback game. It would be O line
D line. We thought the Rams D line would be punitive,
especially if the Vikings fell behind and they could pin
(29:12):
their ears back.
Speaker 4 (29:14):
So the reason I think the Eagles just some trepidation.
I'm on them. I have them in Teezers money line
parlays everything.
Speaker 8 (29:22):
The Eagles offensive unit has struggled at times this season. Okay,
we know that AJ Brown starts pouting, you know, Jalen
hurts limited in the pocket. If they somehow bottle up
Saquon Barkley, Like, there's a world where that Eagles offense struggles.
Speaker 4 (29:36):
I don't see the Lions being stopped by Washington. I
just don't see that.
Speaker 8 (29:40):
Well, I don't see the Texans defense, which is good
shutting down.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
You're saying, which underdog has a chance. Well, I'd argue,
Buffalo's an underdog.
Speaker 4 (29:48):
No, No, we're not doing that game. Forget that. That's like,
that's a toss up, that's a pick up.
Speaker 1 (29:51):
But I think I can see I can see a
world where the Commanders win the opening snap and take
a seven nothing lead, and the Lions, you know, uh,
drive down the field, cough it upper missing field goal.
Commanders now seven to nothing, ball again, and start kind
of struggling to decipher quite how to work a defense
(30:16):
to stop Jayden Daniels. And then you get a little tight.
Let's say the Commanders go down to kick a field goal,
it's ten to nothing, and all of a sudden you're like, okay,
time out. Now this second drive is really important. So
I don't think that's gonna happen. But I can see
the Commanders winning the court. Like if I'm the Commanders
and I win the toss, I'm taking the ball. I
(30:40):
am taking the ball. My shot in this game is
get ahead and get into Detroit's head.
Speaker 8 (30:45):
Which can be done because Dan Campbell has a history,
We're going for it.
Speaker 4 (30:48):
I'm I'm dead set on I'm doing this. Nobody could
talk me out of it.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
I go Goff threw five picks in a game this year.
Now he's not gonna do that again.
Speaker 4 (30:58):
So the Tampa at home and scored sixteen points. Like
things happen. It's the NFL, you know.
Speaker 1 (31:04):
Now, Lions will probably be the thirty four to ten.
Speaker 4 (31:06):
I think Lions probably top.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
I just think I can see the Commanders taking a lead,
being hyper aggressive. You do not want to get into
a close game with the Commanders. They're great at it,
bizarrely strangely great in close games. Lions haven't been in
a lot of close games.
