You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Welcome back to The Herd.
Jason McIntyre in for Colin Cowherd. He's under the weather.
He will be back Thursday from New Orleans.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Can't wait.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Super Bowl is nearly upon us, and to celebrate, let's
bring in one of Colin's.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
Favorite guests, Greg Cochell. NFL films the guys a legend
breaking down videos. Wait till you see the Saquon Barkley
stuff he's got cooked up.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
Greg.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
It is a pleasure to finally talk to you. I'm
so excited, you know. First of all, great to officially
talk to you. Your excitement level for the super Bowl begins,
it ends with.

Speaker 5 (01:00):
Excitement for the super Bowl is always high.

Speaker 6 (01:02):
Because you know, it's funny you say that because people
always ask me, you know, what's going to be the
deciding factor's And I always feel I can't answer that
because to me, from watching tape, I think there's you know,
ten twelve variables that could play out in these games
that we just don't know.

Speaker 5 (01:17):
There's always a few tweaks that coaches make.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
You know.

Speaker 6 (01:20):
The obvious stuff is the Saquon Barkley stuff. The obvious
stuff is Mahomes. That's the obvious stuff that everybody can
talk about. But I just love getting into the weeds
and the details of these games, and that's what really
fascinates me.

Speaker 5 (01:32):
Jay Mack.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
Yeah, so you mentioned Mahomes.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Obviously, his legs have been huge in the last two
games scrambling. Do you think we'll see that same success
against the Eagles.

Speaker 5 (01:45):
Well, you know, it's funny you say that.

Speaker 6 (01:46):
Actually went back and we did in our matchup room
here at NFL Films, and we looked at some of
the games when he was the head coach at Denver
because he played Mahomes six times and they did not
spy Mahomes when when Vic fanjo is coach at the
head coach at Denver. So I'm very curious to see
how the Eagles decide to deal in those kinds of situations,

(02:08):
you know, third and seven second in a how they
decide to deal with Mahomes because he clearly is you
so rightly pointed out he uses his legs much more
in the playoffs because it's such a big factor in
breaking down the discipline of defenses. So I'm curious to
see what vic Fangio does with his rush. The Eagles
are not a heavy blitz team. When they do pressure,

(02:31):
it's more often what we call sim pressure, meaning they
still rush for just one of the four tends to
be a linebacker and they drop out a defensive lineman.
So you know, my sense it'll be much more of
a controlled rush trying to keep him in the pocket.
But again, he obviously throws the ball really well, so
that in and of itself doesn't mean that you stop him.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Yeah, that's a great nugget on looking at Fanngio's history
not spying Mahomes. I'm sure gamblers are interested in that,
but I'm going to take it next level. So do
you think that's because of the personnel he had with
those teams? And maybe he has different personnel that are able.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
To spy Ma home this time. He's got a change tendency.

Speaker 6 (03:09):
Right, Yeah, And that's the you know, That's a great
point because there's going to be some tendency breakers. There
always are in a Super Bowl because teams have two
weeks to prepare.

Speaker 5 (03:19):
So obviously they.

Speaker 6 (03:20):
Don't reinvent the wheel as far as their entire concepts
of what they've done all season, but they always add
some things that are just a little bit different than
what they've done.

Speaker 5 (03:29):
So maybe they will spy.

Speaker 6 (03:30):
Look, they've got a really long, athletic linebacker in Aaron Burks.
He's six three, two thirty two thirty five. In college,
he played a lot of safety. It's very possible that
they could use him as a spy. Even Zach Bonn
is a very athletic player. Now, Zach Bonn has other
really strong traits where I'm not sure they'd want to
use him as a spy.

Speaker 5 (03:49):
But again i'm not Vic Fangil.

Speaker 6 (03:51):
I don't know, but Orrin Brooke Burks seems to me
if they do want a spy, that would be the
likely candidate to do that because of his length and athletic.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
I like that name.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
That's good stuff. How does Casey's running game? Kareem Hunt
looks invigorated these last couple weeks. I guess the bye
week really helped him. How do they match up against
Eagles because nobody really runs on Philly.

Speaker 6 (04:13):
Well, you know it's funny too, because you get to
the playoffs and it always seems as if the Chiefs
add a little more to their run game. I mean,
we've seen that when you go through the playoffs, even
in the last number of years. You can even think
back two years ago to the Super Bowl against the
Eagles when they really came out and ran the ball,
and even in the AFC Championship game this year against Buffalo.

Speaker 5 (04:34):
Hunt was a pretty big factor.

Speaker 6 (04:36):
You know, he may not run for one hundred and
thirty yards, but the run game is a little bit
of a factor. I guess the larger point for me
is the Chiefs have kind of evolved over these last
two years j mackinto a team that plays a lot
out of multiple tight ends two and three tight ends.
Close to fifty percent of their offensive snaps often come
out of multiple tight end personnel. The Eagles want to

(04:59):
play Nickel with five defensive bats. They do not want
to take Cooper Dejene off the field. So the question
is will they do that against two and maybe three
tight ends or will they take Dejene off the field. Now,
Degene is a big physical guy for a slot corner,
but I think that's one of sort of the games
within the game of the Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
Yeah, that's great stuff in Degene.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
For those who remember, he's the one who really jacked
up Derrick Henry in the regular season. It was like, WHOA,
this is a tough rookie. Let me ask about the
tight ends. The middle of the field has really hurt
Philly Ertz. I think at eleven catches in the conference
championship game, they have been suspect defending tight ends. Enter
Travis Kelcey, maybe Noah Gray. What do you see happening

(05:40):
for Kelsey? There a lot of people betting him to
win the MVP.

Speaker 4 (05:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (05:44):
For the most part, though, in all honesty, the Eagles
have done well versus tight ends.

Speaker 5 (05:48):
I think Ertz.

Speaker 6 (05:50):
I don't want to say they wanted Ertz to catch
that many balls, but I think they'll play this totally differently.
You know, Kelsey's a fascinating player in the Super Bowl
because the last two years umbers have really gone way
down in terms of yards per catch, in terms of
catches that went for first downs, you know, so it's
hard to say he won't be a factor because it's
Travis Kelsey's going to be a first ballot Hall of Famer,

(06:12):
but he has not really been as big a factor
in their pass game as in previous seasons, you know,
going back three four years and the Chiefs pass game
J Mack, it's really become very scheme based more so
than individual based. So again, these are the kinds of
things that are so hard to predict and speculate because, hey,
no one would be surprised if Kelsey goes nine for

(06:34):
one to twenty five, but that really hasn't happened very
much this year, so it's it's hard to say that
that's going to be the case.

Speaker 7 (06:41):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and Noone Eastern non a em Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio FS one and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
That's a good point.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
So where do you attack this Eagles defense? I know
they have the two rookies in the secondary.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Maybe that's it. On the outside with running backs out
of the backfield. I don't know. This is a really
really strong defense at Fondio has.

Speaker 5 (07:05):
Yeah, I think it.

Speaker 6 (07:06):
As I mentioned, the pass game has been very scheme
based for the Chiefs. I think that's how they're going
to do it. I think they'll do it with formations,
personnel motions. They'll do stacks, they'll do bunches. They'll try
to create just the slightest bit of hesitation and confusion
and coverage concepts because the way you play bunches and
stacks you have to communicate. I think they'll try to

(07:26):
do that. I think they'll try to make the linebackers
the beat slow due to eye discipline, motions, things of
that nature. You know, what's really been interesting is that
the Chiefs have not really been a vertical passing team
this year, which when you think about Mahomes and how
well he throws it is really crazy. In fact, he's
not been very good throwing the ball twenty plus yards

(07:48):
in the air from the line of scrimmage. He's had
the worst completion percentage in the NFL at twenty six percent,
which is very surprising. That's not the way they've played
offense this year. It's been very much situation scheme based.
We saw that against Buffalo. The third down they expected man,
they ran mesh, they ran pick plays. That's what their

(08:08):
offense has been so I think, look, every game is
situation based, but the Chiefs have really become that kind
of team on offense.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Wow, that's a crazy stat on Mahomes. Let's go to
Jalen Hurts, his counterpart. He had a rough start to
the season and they decided to rain him in. He
ended up making a joke about being unleashed late.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
In the season.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
I don't know where do you think he stands heading
into this matchup. What does a tape say in the
postseason for Hurts?

Speaker 6 (08:32):
Yeah, I mean I think when you watch the tape
of Jalen Hurts, I think that they understand what his
strengths are and what you know, his limitations are. And
by the way, most quarterbacks have that. That's not a
knock on Jalen Hurts. You could say that. We could
go through some of the top quarterbacks in the league
and you could say the same thing. He doesn't throw
the ball great in the middle of the field. He's
not comfortable. I mean in the NFC Championship game, he

(08:54):
did not make one throw between the numbers, not one attempt.

Speaker 5 (08:57):
That's not his strength.

Speaker 6 (08:59):
I think what they do really well is their offense
is so layered with different options on every play. You've
got the Barkley element, you've got the zone read element,
you've got different screen elements. So you've got a pass
game that works off all of that. And say what
you want about Jalen Hurts, this cannot be overstated.

Speaker 5 (09:18):
Jmac.

Speaker 6 (09:19):
He does not turn the ball over, and with the
defense that they have, that's critical. I know many fans
probably get upset when he runs out of the pocket
to his right and throws the ball away. And you
know what, that's better than trying to force a ball
and throwing an interception. If they punt, the other team
has to go seventy five eighty eighty five ninety yards.
That is really hard to do against the Eagles defense.

(09:41):
So to me, Jalen Hurts has a tremendous understanding of
the overall team concept and what he is within that,
and he plays the game really smart. And the other thing,
I think you'll see a lot of no huddle. The
Eagles are a big no huddle offense, and that in
their mind hopefully will calm down the Steve spec know
those situational pressures.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
It's a great point on the Hurtz turnover. So I'm
looking at his game log. He had four picks in
the first three weeks. He's had won the entire rest
of the season. Let me ask specifically on Hurts versus Man.
We know aj Brown's a matchup nightmare. He will eat
against McDuffie. I don't care if it's McDuffie anybody. And
then if it's against Zone DeVonta Smith is just great
at finding the spots. What's your best guess as the Chiefs?

(10:23):
What will they do defensively? Heavy, blitz, zone, man, all
of it.

Speaker 6 (10:29):
Yeah, they're blitzing. Is very situational because they're so good
at it. People probably think Spags is just a heavy
percentage blitzer.

Speaker 5 (10:36):
He's not.

Speaker 6 (10:37):
It's very situational. But they will play man. You know,
these two teams played Week eleven last year. This was
after the Super Bowl, obviously, I'm talking about the twenty
twenty three season. They had a Lajarious Sneed at corner.
He matched up to Brown in that game last year.
He actually ate Brown up. I think they're going to
I don't know they'll do this, but it wouldn't surprise
me if they match Trent McDuffie on Brown. They do

(10:58):
play a lot of man. Maybe they'll say, hey, let's
stop the run, do the best we can and see
if they can beat us throwing the ball. You know,
all this we're just speculating. But I don't think Spags
is going to do anything dramatically different overall. I think situationally,
you'll see a few different things that he hopes the
Eagles haven't quite seen and maybe prepared for. But in

(11:20):
terms of overall concept of how he plays defense, I
don't think that'll change.

Speaker 3 (11:25):
That's a good I forgot about that game.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
So the Chiefs were up seventeen to seven and a
half and the Eagles dominated the second half. It was
a big DeAndre Swift game. And what a memory you
have AJ Brown in that game. You must have looked
at it. AJ Brown won catch for eight yards.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 5 (11:40):
Well that's what we do, J Mac. That's what we
do here. We look at all these games on tape.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Wow, that's good stuff.

Speaker 5 (11:45):
All right.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
We could wrap up with this, your big play of
the week, Saquon Berkley's incredible touchdown run against Washington.

Speaker 4 (11:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (11:53):
I wanted to show this play, and we can go
to it because it takes a little while before we
get to the actual breakdown. I wanted to show this
play obviously it was the first offensive play in the
NFC Championship game. But one of the reasons I wanted
to show this play is because most people think of
motion as being a big factor in the past game.
That's the way people see the game. They see motion.
Is it our zone man indicator. But it's really important

(12:17):
in the run game as well, and it's so important here.

Speaker 5 (12:20):
So this was the first place. So what you're going
to see is tight bunch.

Speaker 6 (12:23):
To the wide side of the field and Saquon Barkley
is the ieback. You don't see that very often with
Jalen Hurts under center, but Barkley is the ieback and
it's going to be a toss to the wide side
of the field. And the concept is a basic one
that everybody runs. It's what we call pin pull. Aj
Brown is going to block down as the pin blocker
on the defensive end, and they're going to pull Dallas

(12:46):
Goddard and Jordan may Alatta. As I said, it's a
pin pull concept, very basic concept. They're going to run
it to the wide side of the field where there's
a lot of room. Now, wat's what they do. They
take DeVonta Smith. They're going to motion him across the formation.
Why that removes a defender from run support to that
side of the field because Marshawn Lattimore is going to

(13:08):
run with him across the field. Now there's one less defender,
and the two defenders that are there that can defend
this play are defensive backs.

Speaker 5 (13:18):
So look what you get.

Speaker 6 (13:19):
You get Goddard and may Alatta blocking two defensive backs,
and by the way, they outweigh them by a few pounds,
as you can see right here. In fact, the Eagles
O line weighs over seventeen hundred pounds.

Speaker 5 (13:31):
It's the biggest O line in all of football.

Speaker 6 (13:33):
So now you get Goddard and Mayolata blocking two defensive backs.

Speaker 5 (13:37):
Barkley's clean off the edge. We know Jmack.

Speaker 6 (13:40):
No safety can tackle Barkley in the open field. So
this is a great example of motion in the run game,
which is such a critical aspect of what the Eagles do.
And you're definitely going to see that in this Super
Bowl and see how the Chiefs react to it.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
Damn that's good stuff. Now, I don't know historically if
you make a pick or not, Greg do you want
to make a pick or I don't want to put
you on the spot.

Speaker 5 (14:05):
You know, No, it's okay.

Speaker 6 (14:07):
I've had to do that already, so it's out there.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
You know.

Speaker 5 (14:11):
I'm on the record, j Mac. You know I picked
the Eagles.

Speaker 6 (14:14):
I you know, I think it's going to be a
really close, intense game. I just there's a part of
me that can't get beyond the fact that this Eagles
O line is so so good. No knock on the
Chiefs D line, it's obviously very good, but this old
line has been such a dominant, dominant group all season long.
And you know, Barkley has the most yards before contact.

Speaker 5 (14:36):
Think about that.

Speaker 6 (14:37):
As great as Barkley is, and he's great, but he
has the most yards before contact far and away of
any back in the league.

Speaker 3 (14:43):
Yeah, Greg Cossell NFL Films, great stuff. You heard the pick.
He's on the Eagles. I'm on the Eagles. I don't
know where colhards at, but probably the Chiefs. Thanks a lot,
Greg enjoyed the game. Great stuff this year.

Speaker 5 (14:55):
Thanks s. Mac, really appreciate it. Man.

Speaker 7 (14:57):
That was fun.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
Greg Cosel just an outstanding breakdown of everything. I mean,
he's good, and he picked the Eagles. So I'm Geeks
right now. I know, I know, Chiefs fans, You're fine,
but He's right. Eagles are better in the trenches offense
and defense. They're better at wide receiver. They haven't bet
a running back. The only place that the Chiefs are
better as head coaching quarterback, and I know that kind

(15:17):
of sort of matters, just just a little bit, a
little bit, all right? Coming up next, Hey, Greg Gerald
McCoy live from New Orleans at Radio Row Yes Live.

That's Covino and Rich back here on the Herd.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
Great stuff from Greg Cochell, a former NFL quarterback, was
listening and texted during the show about the Chiefs offensive
line why they're not throwing the ball down the field.
I got to say, the audience for the Herd is formidable.
You guys have good stuff and very much forward looking
to the game.

Speaker 3 (16:51):
And let's bring in.

Speaker 2 (16:52):
Gerald McCoy, former NFL defensive tackle. He is live from
Radio Row in New Orleans.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
Gerald, how you doing, my man, I'm incredible, man.

Speaker 10 (17:03):
I mean I'm taking in knowledge, and that's that's what
you call it when you hear I'm taking in knowledge.
I've been here plenty of times on my playing days. Obviously,
we playing the Saints here every year. But it's different
when you're not getting ready for a game or preparing
for a game.

Speaker 4 (17:20):
Well at least a game you're playing again.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (17:23):
Nice, a great time. It hasn't gotten too crazy out
here yet. But it's Tuesday tomorrow, every day starts to
kick off even more.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
It'll start to get fun there very shortly. Obviously, you
spent a long time with the Bucks. They played at
the Saints. I want to ask you about this Eagles
defensive line. Man, they are dominant. I have a feeling
they're going to bully the Chiefs in the trenches. What
do you make of this matchup Eagles defensive line versus
Chiefs makeshift offensive line.

Speaker 10 (17:52):
The saving grace of the offensive line is Andy Reid
and Patrick Mahomes. They have the great equalizers. They know
how to manipulate defenses and that's what they do best.
But at some point and a key moment in the game,
this offensive line is going to have to hold up
and that sort of what the Chiefs have done offensively

(18:16):
all years, be real methodical moving that and they Deakin
and Nikola and Dominue down the field and control the clock.

Speaker 4 (18:25):
They're great on third down.

Speaker 10 (18:27):
And we've seen at the end of the game in
the AFC Championship it wasn't what Patrick Mahoon did, it
was how Andy Reid drew it up. And we've seen
last year on that final drivers of forty nine. Is
Andy Reid's ability to draw things up in the clutch.

Speaker 4 (18:40):
He's just he's just the best at that.

Speaker 10 (18:42):
So as this game goes on, if we don't see
this Eagles defensive line start to get after Patrick Mahome,
it won't happen when the clutch time comes up because
at that point Andy reed got you figured out. So
if they want to get on this team with Patrick Mahomes,
who's been hitting, sacked more and he's been his entire
career this season, they need to do it early and

(19:04):
often because if they don't do it early and often,
you had Andy Reeves Mercy.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
Yeah, that's a great point. And the Eagles actually led.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
I believe it was twenty four fourteen in the last
Super Bowl meeting with the Chiefs and ended up blowing it,
of course because.

Speaker 3 (19:19):
Patrick Mahomes that's what he does.

Speaker 2 (19:21):
But this time they have Saquon Berkley and he has
been unbelievable this season, tremendous talent and I just wonder.
Chiefs run defense has been leaky. Gerald, how do you
stop this guy?

Speaker 3 (19:31):
If you're Kansas.

Speaker 10 (19:31):
City, Yeah, it's been extremely leaky. But at the same Tokyo,
here's what I know. Going into the Houston game, there
wasn't one player where all week they said this one
guy can beat our team. It was collective. They knew
who Joe Mixon was, but they also knew who CJ.

(19:53):
Stroud was, and they knew they had to work through
certain things. All Right, you go into the Buffalo game,
Josh Allen is the guy. James Cook is the X factor.
He helps, but Josh Allen is the guy. And we've
seen that even though their run defens was very leaky
versus Buffalo, Buffalo stopped giving the ball to James Cook
because Josh Allen is the guy.

Speaker 4 (20:13):
I don't know why.

Speaker 10 (20:14):
They did that, but they did. In this game, Saquon
is the guy. Philly knows it, we all know it.
Kansas City knows it. I played for Joe Colly. I
know what he's telling this defensive line. He's telling them
they believe this one person can beat our entire defense
with one guy, and they're gonna take it personal.

Speaker 4 (20:35):
So what do they need to do. You can't get undisciplined.

Speaker 10 (20:38):
But the Kansas City Chiefs are not undisciplined, because if
they were, they wouldn't have been at this point having
an opportunity to three feet.

Speaker 4 (20:44):
You gotta stay in.

Speaker 10 (20:45):
Your gaps, have gap integrity because you're facing a guy
who could go lateral and verticals zero to one hundred
like that. Make one mistake and he could go to
the crib and they're teaching and coaching that. But they're
gonna take this personal. I'm telling you that's what they're
gonna do.

Speaker 4 (20:59):
Up front.

Speaker 10 (21:00):
Well, Philly's gonna do what Philly do. Sat Quaul will
touch this ball twenty five to thirty times.

Speaker 4 (21:04):
For sure.

Speaker 2 (21:06):
It is your guess that the Chiefs offense is the
key to this game, because I don't know. I just
don't say that. They're not exciting, they're not explosive. It
could be Hollywood Brown, it could be Noah Great. We
don't even know who their weapons are going to be.
I still don't know how the hell they beat the Bills.
You know, but this is not like an explosive, scary
Kansas City team. They're just methodical and they have the

(21:27):
best quarterback on the planet.

Speaker 10 (21:31):
So here's the thing with being scary. Scary doesn't mean better.
The Philadelphia Eagles are scary. They're top to bottom the
better team. I don't care how you feel it as
a Kansas City chief if you're being honest with yourself,
you're going to say, top to bottom, talent for talent,

(21:53):
number for number, the Philadelphia Eagles are.

Speaker 4 (21:56):
The better team.

Speaker 10 (21:57):
The names and the resumes don't reflect the numbers for
the Kansas City Chiefs.

Speaker 4 (22:03):
It reflects the record.

Speaker 10 (22:05):
There's no Kansas City Chiefs with all of these top
names that's up for a postseason award.

Speaker 4 (22:11):
You go look at the numbers.

Speaker 10 (22:12):
I could give you four different numbers stats and don't
put a team attached to it. The average numbers, you're
not gonna say that's the Kansas City Chiefs. But if
I showed you records, you're gonna pick the one with
the best record and say that's the Kansas City Chiefs
because there's no substitution for experience. Tom Brady talked about it.

(22:32):
You have to be great in the clutch. It's technique time.
You gotta know how to win. You know how I
know that that stands true because Tom Brady went to
Tampa in a year of COVID and he won a
Super Bowl. And since he left, the Bucks haven't missed
missed the playoffs because he established the culture of winning.
You there's a way to win, and Kansas City knows

(22:53):
how to win games. It's not about the best team
or who has the most speed. It's the experience. And
these guys have the experience. They've been here before and
they know how to win games.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
Yeah, since you play defensive tackle. We talked a lot
about Jalen Carter recently. He's been utterly dominant, but people
forget about Chris Jones, who's a pretty damn good defensive
player and for some reason, in punch time, he always
appears to show up and make a great play, whether
it's lining up outside or inside. Tell us about Chris
Jones a little bit and how he can factor in
here against the best offensive line in the league.

Speaker 10 (23:31):
Chris Jones is the only player in all of football
to have twenty five pressures inside and outside. Chris Jones
is going to the Hall of Fame, and it's going
to say defensive tackle next to his names.

Speaker 4 (23:43):
For most impactful plays he's made in.

Speaker 10 (23:47):
His career in the playoffs have been a defensive ends
and last game in the AMC Championship. As great as
he's been, I can argue that that was the best
game I've ever see him play. I'll tell you why.
What he did to that offensive line was demoralized. It's
not gonna show up on the stat sheet, but he's

(24:09):
taking grown men from left tackle all the way to
right tackle, tackle guard, center, guard, tackle, and he's taking
them on any given play, regardless of the result, and
putting them three and four yards in the backfield.

Speaker 4 (24:21):
That's what he does.

Speaker 10 (24:22):
He impacts the game without having a stat And when
you're doing that, it makes the offense say, dang, we
should stop giving the ball to James Cook. It makes
the offense say we have to speed up our operation.
It changes everything. It makes your offensive line think more.
It makes your running back have to cut tuna that
he wants to. It makes your quarterback start seeing ghosts

(24:44):
just because This guy, at any given moment, is taking
your defenders who's supposed to be defending your quarterback, and
he's taking grown men and saying, you're gonna do what
I say do on this play. And that's the moralizing
to any offense. But that's what Chris Jones breaks to
a team.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
Now, well, listen, I know you like him. You were
a defensive tackle. He ain't doing that to Jordan my
Lotta or Lane Johnson. You know that that's the best
tackle duo in the league, right, would you agree?

Speaker 1 (25:11):
Don't?

Speaker 4 (25:13):
I don't.

Speaker 10 (25:13):
I don't know that though I don't know that, and uh,
he can he Chris Jones is so elite up a player.
Uh we see my lot to give up sex last
against the Rams.

Speaker 4 (25:26):
Didn't he.

Speaker 10 (25:29):
Talk about Lane Johnson? We're talking about Yeah, we'll talk
about Lane Johnson. I'm a I'm not gonna say anything
bad about Lane Johnson. He's a Sooner, so Laine Johnson
to do whatever he wants. He's an opal sooner, best
right tackle of all of football.

Speaker 4 (25:44):
I love you, Lane. I would never say anything bad
about you. But everybody else got to deal with Chris Jones.

Speaker 10 (25:51):
And Chris Jones has been here over and over and
over again. So if he's done this over and over
and over again, I'm playing statistics that he'll do it again.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
Well, you just gave Jordan my lot of some bulletin
board material. Hopefully some Eagles fans will clip that off.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
Oh he pushed around by Chris Jones.

Speaker 10 (26:09):
Rite it down, ran it down, stamp it, do all
of it, man, Chris to all right, let's go do it.

Speaker 4 (26:17):
I'm a defensive guy.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
I'm obviously obviously let's quickly go to Miles Garrett.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
He requested a trade this week.

Speaker 2 (26:25):
Listen, he's twenty nine. I'm sure he's still got a
couple of good years left. But there's a lot of
tread on those tires. He's had some injuries. Mouth he
played injured all season. The guy's a warrior. What's your
best guest? Do the Brown say, hey, he wants out,
we gotta trade him, or do you think they're just
word I'll trade you.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
What's your guests?

Speaker 4 (26:45):
Oh?

Speaker 10 (26:46):
If I had the guess, I think they give him
what he wants and I'll tell you why. This guy's
been loyal to a fault all all to the I
mean when I left Tampa and we parted way. The
first place I went to visit was even Brown and
they asked him. At this point, they didn't have no
All Pro defensive tackle or nothing on the team. They

(27:08):
had Larry Ogin Jobie who was the three technique, and
I love Larry. Larry's a great player, but you have
an All Pro that's willing to come side with your team.
And they asked him, how would you love to have
Joe McCoy partner with you and y'all be a standom.

Speaker 4 (27:22):
His response was, we good with.

Speaker 10 (27:25):
What we got because he's that type of person when
it comes to who he's with and the team he's on.

Speaker 4 (27:31):
Extremely loyal. The only time you've seen Miles.

Speaker 10 (27:34):
Garrett making about him was this year and it was
targeted at TJ.

Speaker 4 (27:38):
Watt.

Speaker 10 (27:38):
He said, I'm the guy. I just want you to
know that in Brown his parts when we talk defense,
I'm the guy. But that's still in representation of his team.
With everything this team has been through, he's never made
it about him. He's always been loyal to his team.
So what a guy that's been doing that. One Defensive
Player of the Year. When that says defensive player of
the Year, which.

Speaker 3 (27:58):
Team he was on?

Speaker 10 (27:59):
Is go have your he's a finalist again this year.
A guy like that, just give him what he won't. Man,
he's earned that right. He's a legacy guy, and he's
heard the right for you to say, you know what,
you gave us everything you had, we have you know,
we have no quarrels with what you got.

Speaker 4 (28:15):
Well we'll do what you want.

Speaker 3 (28:16):
Yeah, I would hope you're right.

Speaker 2 (28:18):
You want to get a final pick in for the
Super Bowl, Gerald, you got to pick yet?

Speaker 10 (28:25):
Yeah, I'm going right now without breaking everything down blindly
picking the Kansas City Chiefs twenty eight, Philadelphia Eagles twenty one.

Speaker 3 (28:39):
Okay, so not liking field.

Speaker 4 (28:43):
Chiefs.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
Oh boy, three PiZZ says Gerald McCoy. Good joff, Gerald,
congrats on a great career and enjoy radio row.

Speaker 3 (28:48):
Maybe I'll see you down there.

Speaker 4 (28:52):
All right, thanks brother?

Speaker 2 (28:53):
All right, Gerald McCoy former defensive tackles stand out I
see in the notes here, six time pro bowler.

Speaker 3 (28:58):
He a beast.

Speaker 2 (29:00):
I do disagree with him on Chris Jones, Jordan my lotta,
but that's fine. We can have disagreements. That's life.

Speaker 3 (29:06):
And I totally disagree with his pick.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
And I will be probably betting the under on field goals,
So I'm with him total field goals.

Speaker 3 (29:13):
In the game under.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
I haven't seen the line yet, but I'll dig into
props while I'm on the flight tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (29:18):
All Right, we could wrap up the show with this.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
Luka Doncic met with the media this morning out here
in La Rob Polinka, very dapper, Rob Polinka. You know,
I didn't get a chance to google this. I think
he was on the Fab five. I'm pretty sure he was.
Maybe one of the producers. Can yell at me that
I'm wrong. He was on the fat Yeah, thank you,
I remember. I'm just telling you guys, I love the
Fab five. Young Jason wearing the baggy pants down beyond

(29:43):
my knees.

Speaker 3 (29:43):
Yes. Look, this was when I thought I was going
to the NBA.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
And then you go try out for freshman year basketball
and you don't even make the final cuts and you're like, oh, I'm.

Speaker 3 (29:52):
Not gonna be an NBA player. So Rob Polink was
on the Fab five. He was very dapper.

Speaker 2 (29:57):
In the Luca press conference, Here's what Rob Polinka said
about the impact on Luca joining the Lakers.

Speaker 11 (30:03):
Luka Doncic joining forces with the Los Angeles Lakers is
a seismic event in NBA history. And the reason I
say that is because we have a twenty five year
old global superstar that's going to get on the stage

(30:28):
of the most popular and influential basketball.

Speaker 5 (30:32):
Brand on the globe.

Speaker 11 (30:34):
And I think when those two powerful forces come together,
it brings basketball joy to the world.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
I just had to call up the Lakers schedule, so
tonight they are against the paper Clips at seven o'clock
out here on the West Coast, and then Thursday against
the Warriors. I'm gonna go ahead and guess Luca's not
ready to play anytime soon.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
My guest would be post All Star Break.

Speaker 4 (31:01):
Let him get.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
Acclimated to La not gonna lie. I don't live that
far from the Lakers facility. I would love it if
Luca kind of moved into the neighborhood. That would be
a lot of fun. As you could tell, like, I'm
gonna be ordering the Lucas seventy seven jersey.

Speaker 3 (31:16):
I'm a fan.

Speaker 2 (31:16):
What can I say? What's not to love about this guy?
He likes to eat, he likes to drink, he likes.

Speaker 3 (31:21):
To play basketball.

Speaker 2 (31:23):
I mean, come on, this is a guy you want
to hang with, you know. I guess I gotta brush
up on my international foreign language. But you know I
can work on that this summer. Folks, it's been fun
filling in for Colin. We are in New Orleans Thursday
and Friday. He will be healthy and back on the mic.
Thanks for listening.
