Speaker 1 (01:30):
We'll also talk Lebron Alex. I'm excited to watch this
NBA game. Okay, last night, Danny, aside from tacos, I
have a plan that's to watch this game. I cut
off last night on Love is Blind. Are you all
caught up? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Waiting for the next round? What is it Friday?
Speaker 1 (01:45):
Friday?
Speaker 2 (01:45):
You know what's interesting? Rich was such a bachelor boy
back in the early two thousands. You skip on on
Bouchlor on a Monday night to watch Love is Blind.
Goes to show you where the juice is at.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Yeah, the bachelor old noose, Love is Blind uncensored, more wackos.
There's a guy love his blind, got the juice. Not
to spoil anything, but this dude, Dave, it's such a.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
Weak ass with the sunburned face.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
Dude, talk about the weakest dude. Maybe he's a nice guy. Hey,
maybe he's listening. Now. We do have affiliates in Minneapolis.
You what's up?
Speaker 4 (02:16):
Weird?
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Dave from Love is Mind.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
Richest sister wouldn't like caring this on the radio.
Speaker 5 (02:21):
Every other word out of his mouth is I don't
know what my sister would think of this?
Speaker 2 (02:26):
You care about what your siblings think? Yes, I mean
it depends what we're talking about. If it's like, do
I care what they think about Steven and his spending habits? No,
I don't care what they think. Do I care about
their opinion on him, whether or not I'm a good person?
Speaker 1 (02:42):
Yeah? Not like who you're dating. M Yeah, then you
wouldn't heard your ex wife thousands No, no, because you want
them to get along, so it does matter.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
I can't say I don't care. Then again, they don't
know what's necessarily I should say my style or my taste. Yeah,
because the people they would choose for you, or probably
not the people you would choose.
Speaker 5 (03:03):
And the way he talks about her though, it's like
his manager. Oh right, I got to run this by
my sister. That's weird.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Yeah. Yeah, well, I mean everybody has different relationships. Not
to go off the rails on Love's Blind, because there's
a really fun story in the world of sports and Hollywood,
that set of ties together and has to do with
greatness I want to get to. But there's a really
funny angle. Danny G. Covino's not watching, so me let
me throw it out there real quick. Don't you assume
(03:29):
that before you met the woman you're with, there was
just other dude kicking it to her, or she had
a boyfriend before you.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Yeah, you think it's the most immedia Nless, she looks
like large March unless she unless she's a sea hag. Yeah,
of course she had other guys before you.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
You fascinated. There's this dude on Love's Blind that you
just so hung up on. Wait before you went on
the show, like you were talking to some dude.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Yeah, that was our first reaction to my wife and
I Richard.
Speaker 5 (03:58):
The difference here, though, is the guy that she hooked
up with is in his circle of friends, so he
knows who the guy guy. Yeah, but still like if Covino,
if you knowed too much, you.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
Went on a dating show and you know clean Slate,
but it was like, wait, before you entered the pods
used to date Danny G.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Yeah, I think that's a game changer because, like I know,
Danny G. So I know she has bad judgment. No,
but there's girls that I've dated and then I realized
they hooked up with rich and I'm like, ugh, off
the market, like not interested anymore for real.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
So I understand that can't compete. No, just like again,
bad judgment.
Speaker 5 (04:38):
Yeah, and he doesn't want to have to take penicillin.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
Exactly true. I don't know what she's got now. Well, hey,
love is blond, good time filler to wait for things
like tonight Lakers Mavericks will get to that.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Well, I could tie your love is blind thing into
an actual conversation that we had planned out, and that
is life is a competition. It really is. You could
pretend like it's not. But we're all trying to be
our best selves and we're all keeping up with the Kardashians.
We're all trying to, you know, be our best, to
be the best. I look at it this way. I
approach life from a sports background, from a sports mentality,
(05:14):
meaning you're trying to be great, You're trying to do
your best. Are we all going to be the next
Michael Jordan? Are we all going to be the next
Michael Phelps? The answer is no. So when you realize
you can't do that. Whatever it is you end up doing,
you still try to bring that mentality to your workplace.
At least that's how I approach things in life right
And again, sports mentality I grew up as a kid
(05:36):
playing sports didn't pan out the way I thought it would.
You know, every kid wants to be a baseball player. Listen, dude,
I get it. I'm the winningest coach on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
That's true.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
So again, you approach everything in life the same way.
At least that's how I feel I teach the little kids.
You got to learn how to win the right way,
but also lose.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
The right way.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
And my point is, even on a show like Love
is Blind or The Bachelor, every stupid game show you're on,
you're bringing your best and you're trying to beat out everybody.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
Love is a battlefield. It's the game of love. Did
you make that up? I did, I think, But yeah,
the game of life is a competition in a lot
of ways, which is why. But there's there's plenty of
room for everybody to win though, rich well, which is
why this Timothy shallow May story who by the way,
as we've learned in the last couple of months. Is
a huge sports fan, and a knowledgeable one at.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
That, especially college football. Yeah, college sports seems to be
his thing.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
A Raiders fan. He was rocking an old school Raider
jacket in Paris.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
He's he's a Raiders guy and he's a good pals
with not agree with how so we know what Timothy
Shallo May is made of. He's a guy that love sports,
but he just happens to be a pretty damn good actor.
And he won a SAG Award the other night. I
know you like it when they sag a little bit,
little sag when he wins the SAG Award. He gives
(06:55):
a speech I should win a SAG Award. He gives
a speech that it rubs some people the wrong way.
I thought it was awesome.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
Again, maybe because I'm a sports fan and I understand
a sports mentality, competitive mentality. Why do people like to
pretend like you are competing in a lot of ways?
Guess what everybody listening right now at work or coming
back from work, everybody's trying to take your job. If
(07:27):
you're somewhere high up there, they want your job. They
might not admit it, they might not wish any harm
in your life. It might not be a direct reflection
of how they feel about you, but if you're getting
paid more, they want your job. It's very competitive. No,
but it's a competitive world that we live in. If again,
you have a sports mentality, and you already said it,
Timothy Shallomey is a kid who loves his sports, probably
(07:50):
played all sorts of sports growing up, realized he's a
little weenie and said, you know what, I'm never gonna
make it in professional sports, but i got this mentality
in mindset and I'm going to use it in this
field of acting, in this new career that I've found.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
Not to reiterate what you said, but think about that
when pursuing a woman you care about, when you're going
for that job you want. If you were a kid
that grew up playing sports and you have that mentality
built into you, that's how a lot of us view life.
Take all. Listen to shelle May's speech.
Speaker 6 (08:23):
I can't downplay the significance of this award because it
means the most to me. And I know we're in
a subjective business, but the truth is I'm really in
pursuit of greatness. I know people don't usually talk like that,
but I want to be one of the greats. I'm
inspired by the greats. I'm inspired by the greats here tonight.
I'm as inspired by Daniel day Lewis, Marlon Brando, and
(08:46):
Viola Davis as I am by Michael Jordan, Michael Phelps,
and I want to be up there.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
So I'm deeply grateful to that.
Speaker 6 (08:51):
This doesn't signify that, but it's a little more fuel,
it's a little more ammo to keep going.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
I think, on a pursuit for greatness, how cool is this?
Speaker 2 (08:58):
You would think that everybody applauded that speech because it
was off the cuff, and it wasn't the kiss ass
speech you normally hear to the academy or to the
people the SAG Awards or my fellow actors, who I
want to kiss your ass and everybody with a kiss
ass stroke fest. He's like, yo, I'm trying to beat
all your asses here. I'm trying to be the best.
I'm not playing games. I'm here to win now. And
(09:20):
I think that's so cool, dude, and refreshing. Yet he's
getting backlash for that now now. The only rub is
that art is subjective. Then why are they giving out awards?
Rich Okay, so don't give me that hogwash. Don't give
me a subjective when you're given out awards. It's an
awards show. He wanted to win. I commend him for
(09:41):
being honest here and say no, I wanted to be
all your weak asses, a complete unknown. He won for that.
The Bob Dylan story sag Awards. Now we're heading into
the Oscars this weekend, and again the story's becoming a
bit of a thing because they're like, oh, we don't
like his attitude toward you know, the academy and his
competitive nature. He's saying, I want to be the Michael
(10:02):
Jordan and Michael Phelps of what I do, and I
think everybody should have that same approach and whatever it
is they do.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
Well, with all due respect. The people chirping the lattice
on the other side, or like a lot of these
cackling women on like the View and these roundtable shows.
What show did you find this on?
Speaker 2 (10:17):
Oh well, this has gone viral too, but this is
just one of many clips, and one that aggravated me
the most is from the Social I don't even know
what that is. Melissa goes on a about how offended
she is by what Shalla May said about wanting to
be great in his pursuit of greatness.
Speaker 7 (10:32):
I don't want to knock anybody's hustle, but Timothy, that
should have stayed in your journal, my friends, not even funny?
Speaker 1 (10:40):
What have been laughing at? Unfunny?
Speaker 8 (10:43):
Jr?
Speaker 3 (10:44):
Timothy?
Speaker 7 (10:44):
You know there's like inside thoughts and outside thoughts. And
he just blurted it out, and I just thought to myself,
you little brats.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
Are people holding up left signs? Yes, they must be.
There must be like a budon, like a laugh studio track.
I'm sure there's a light that says acrosse. Hey, Sam,
I'm gonna point you every time I want you to
play that rectum Damn near killed them. My dad always
used to say that joke. So to me criticizing someone's
(11:17):
pursuit of greatness, whether it's in the arts, in sports,
as an accountant, as a doctor, as a scientist, like
aren't we all pursuing greatness and trying to be the
best we could be?
Speaker 9 (11:30):
Like?
Speaker 1 (11:30):
How could you criticize this dude getting up there who
comes from a sports background, who said, listen, I admire
the greats you inspire me. I want to the way
Michael Jordan, Michael Phelps are great. I want to be
that in acting. And she says, do you love me?
And she says no. But that's a real nice scheme.
Ask will delay on that track? Is it because I'm Mexican?
(11:52):
It's and delay on a taco Tuesday.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
Now continue with this nu nonsense that this woman on
the social spits about challow may Sam. Yeah, let's pick
it up because she has a problem with his pursuit
of greatness.
Speaker 7 (12:10):
Up my daughter up there went up there and said
something like that. I'd be like to quote one Kendrick Lamar,
be humble. Here's the thing with acting. It's not like
a sport where you can rack up numbers. You know,
Oh I've got so many wins and I'm the best,
and I'm the next Michael Jordan, I'm the next Tiger Woods.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
It's not like that. In art.
Speaker 7 (12:28):
Art, guess what, Guess who determines if you're great?
Speaker 1 (12:30):
Your audience not you then stood down giving out awards,
you idiots.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
I don't understand that. Yes, art is subjective. We could
all agree, right. I could look at something and think
it's the stupidest thing. Ever, other people put high value
on it because it's subjective, it's art, then stop giving
out awards.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
If you're gonna give out awards. I don't blame Timothy
Shalamela Shallamela ding Dong No, as Adam Sandler would call him.
Oh yes, Timmy shallow May. You can't blame him for
wanting to win. I love that he's a winner. I
love his attitude.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
I think we should all take a little piece of
that competitive edge to whatever it is we do, especially
on today.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
You know, today's the anniversary off. Today, today is the
anniversary off. I'll reenact ready, I'm the greatest of all time.
I'm the greatest toy saying that they were the greatest
of all time.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
That Bawler, his mama called him Cassius. I'm gonna called
him Cash, not Pete Webber. Today's a day Cash.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Cassius Clay on this day beat Sonny Liston and it
was Muhammad Ali's first heavyweight title. Ah and the greatest.
So uh Timmothy sallow May fantastic. I think he's a
great young actor. I'll tell you where he won me over,
no joke. I was on a flight and never would
(13:57):
I have thought to watch Wanka and I was like
I never liked the original. You know what, I'm like,
I'm on a flight. It's free on Delta American whatever
else flying and I said, I'll watch it, and I'm like,
this kid's crazy. Same.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
I felt the same exact way he had me at Hello,
he had me at Wanka. And here's the question. Based
on that. You got this kid who's really refreshing. He's
going up there like a bro saying, Yeah, I'm here to, like,
you know, kick everyone's ass. I'm here to be one
of the greats. And i want everybody in this stupid
academy to know I'm here for victory and I'm here
to win. I want to be up there with Michael
(14:33):
Jordan and Michael Phelps, with all the greats in acting.
I want to be considered a great. I think that's awesome.
I love that even more about the dude when someone
says stuff like that and on his Fox Sports radio,
do you embrace it or do you let it rub
you the wrong way?
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Like? Should other people be saying those things about you?
That was the criticism that Ricky Henderson got many many
years ago when he broke Lou Brock's record. Ricky Henderson
was on he was on set base right, he grabs
the bass, steals that one too.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
He holds it up in the air and he's like, today,
I'm the greatest of all time. And he was because
he was the record holder. But he got a lot
of criticism for that too, like, hey man, let someone
else patch you on the back and toot your horn.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
You should be tooting your own. I'll pat Timothy Shallowman
on the back for a being a knowledgeable sportsman, for
being a hell of an actor. And he's dating Kylie Jenner,
who's quite the look major. So timid shot Me gets
some props from Covino and Rich here on Fox Sports Radio.
The pursuit of greatness, there's something never never, there's never
(15:39):
anything wrong.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
I think it could be humble and express that you're
out for greatness all at the same time.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
D be your thoughts on this.
Speaker 10 (15:45):
I will readily admit that I want your job like
I'm not like I'm but I say that in the
most respectful way of dating in this business of having
my show or my name on the show in that
window like yeah, I think that's what I don't want
to say.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
We all do because I don't know. But that's that's my.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
That's the refreshing honesty that we're getting here from his
speech though.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
That'ess we can do a Sam's job. Dancer's going to
plant the drugs on you at the next Uh. Already done,
already done.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
Yes, And I have the Patreons show too that we
do every day. And I forget what I'm pretty sure
the conversation came up there, but we we went on
some sort of mission about like, you assume people know
what you're after or know what you want, whether it
be in relationships, that hot woman that you know, that
job opening, Like you assume that people know what you're after,
but not necessarily you need to make it clear sometimes
(16:42):
I want that job. Hey, I want to be with you.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
I like you.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
I want to spend time with you. You need to
let people know. How many times do you hear people say, oh,
I didn't know, how many times have you seen a
woman well in a rama?
Speaker 1 (16:54):
Oh my god, I would have never known. You've always
had a crush on me, Like you should have told her.
And to back up with Dan, Buyer said, Dan, the
job yours, because guess what we want Dan Patrick's job.
He retires. Yeah, I mean to say that no one
has their eye on a prize is ridiculous, and he's saying,
my eye is on being the best. I'm looking.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
I'm picking out great roles so that I could be
considered one of thet the best.
Speaker 1 (17:18):
Intact, rest I was thinking of his girlfriend, That's what
I was. Samuel play the Timothy shell May speech one
more time because he references the greats in movies and
then he compares it to some sports figures.
Speaker 6 (17:32):
I can't downplay the significance of this award because it
means the most to me. And I know we're in
a subjective business.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
Say he even said that, but the truth is, I'm.
Speaker 6 (17:42):
Really in pursuit of greatness. I know people don't usually
talk like that, but I want to be one of
the greats. I'm inspired by the greats. I'm inspired by
the greats here tonight. I'm as inspired by Daniel day Lewis,
Marlon Brando, and Viola Davis as I am by Michael Jordan,
Michael Phelps, and I want to be up there some
deeply great for that. This doesn't signify that, but a
little more fuels.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
Keep going by the way you think anybody that we
admire in entertainment or sports. You think any of these
people didn't have the same exec mentality. You think it
just happened because they were swell fellas who they were
after greatness? Who does everyone sweat? Our generation sweats two
basketball players more than anyone. Michael Jordan, who he learned
in Last Dance is a psychopath, and Kobe Bryant like cutthroat,
(18:29):
I'll kill you. Like so you look at some of
the greats. This makes me love Timothy Shalman. You got
a number one super fan, Timothy Shall. Maybe I like
the honesty. If he's number one super fan, his number Rich, No,
I'm number one, he's number two. I want to be
(18:49):
his number one super fan. Like I'm letting. I'm letting
everybody know Rich already took the spot. You could have it,
because sometimes the number two is better than the number one.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
Oh yeah, that is true, especially after their Taco Tuesday. Guys,
your thoughts, because I think it's gross. Here's what I think.
I think it's gross. I don't know this person from
the social so it's nothing personal. She's probably a slight lady,
but she's also a person that is speaking on behalf
of a lot of people.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
Though a lot of people that are like are subjective.
Where's his humility? This is not how you know entertainers
should react. In fact, the whole premise of this speech
is like, Wow, Shalla may really stepped out of the
norm here with this speech.
Speaker 10 (19:31):
You know who she's talking to though, and I don't
know who it is. I don't know the show she's
talking to the other women who are at the table,
meaning like I don't want to be in your chair,
but you know, darn well, on the view of the
American version, there's somebody that wants to be in Whoope's
chair exactly right, But this is her trying to cover
up with her three friends there of like, but we
really got.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
To get off this, Dan, where like you know, where
we're pretending to not want to bring and be our
best because you're just raising a bunch of la lazy
kids where we should be preaching exactly what shall am
I saying? Right there? Like I have a teenage daughter.
You think I want to show her what this woman
is saying? Or do I want to show her what
shall am I saying? No, go after greatness and be
(20:13):
the best that you could.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
Be the end, and we'll take your feedback next to you,
if you if you want to chime in eight seven, seven,
nine to nine on Fox. A true winning mentality from.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
It's a sports mentality. Rich, it really is. And that's
what's separating him from the other nerds in Hollywood.
Speaker 1 (20:31):
What's interesting is that all these kids audition against each other.
Isn't that the competition of all competitions? You would think so, right?
Trust me, you audition for a big movie role, that's
that's that's Are they not competing? Auditioning for what a
bunch of fraud Academy Award level movie is the same
(20:52):
as trying to make a starting rotation in baseball. It
is the elite competition. Good luck.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
I always said, man, love is a battlefield. Everything you
do in life, everything is competitive, no matter what. My
daughter's a big nerd for real. She's a cute kid.
She's a cheerleader. She's not like a typical nerd like
some people I know growing up.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
Why did you just look at Ia, Sam? He said
that I did not.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
My point is, even in the world of smarts and academics,
you should see how competitive these kids are with their grades.
My daughter has a four point Oh, I'm like that's
not good enough. These kids are so competitive, and they
even talk down to kids who they think are lesser
than when it comes to their smarts. We growing up
(21:42):
with sports always competitive. When you have that competitive mindset,
it trinkles down, trinkles, trickles whatever, trinkle. I'll go with trinkle.
I like trinkling into whatever it is you do moving forward.
So again, I said it before when I realized I
wasn't playing short stuff for the Yankees only because they
had Jeter. My next step was broadcasting. Yeah, he had
(22:07):
it cover and it's all. I was like, all right,
I get it right. Whatever I did moving.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
Forward, I heard it. I heard it wasn't because you
didn't want to shave your goateea in the nineties.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
But dude, it's true. That's that is true. Actually, I
forget who said this. Let's just say my grandma for fun,
my Tita. Whatever it is you do in life, if
you're mopping floors at McDonald's, you bring your best and
you become the best. You bring that competitive mentality to
the forefront so that you could be the best. And
(22:38):
Timothy Shalloman is a sports fan. I believe he's done
that in the world of acting. In fact, he admitted
it when he received a SAG Award, and it rubbed
all these nerdy arts people the wrong way.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
Yeah, one last time, take a listen to me.
Speaker 6 (22:53):
I can't downplay the significance of this award because it
means the most to me. And I know we're in
a subjective business, but the truth is.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
I'm really in pursuit of greatness.
Speaker 6 (23:07):
I know people don't usually talk like that, but I
want to be one of the greats. I'm inspired by
the greats. I'm inspired by the greats here tonight. I'm
as inspired by Daniel day Lewis, Marlon Brando, and Viola
Davis as I am by Michael Jordan, Michael Phelps.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
And I want to be up there. So I'm deeply.
Speaker 6 (23:20):
Grateful to that this. This doesn't signify that, but it's
a little more fuel. It's a little more ammo to
keep going.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
Hell yeah, and I hope you went the Academy Award
this week. Said and by the way, you don't think
that same mindset applies to Taylor Swift or Kendrick Lamar
all the grades. Dude, they're after it. You got to
be after and that's the mentality that everybody needs to
have that, and that we need to preach to our kids,
not the BS backlash that the kids getting. Because the
(23:45):
point is he's getting a lot of backlash from that
because art's subjective. No, everything's competitive.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
Let's go back to the phones and see what you
think about it, because I really commend what he said,
and Rich is saying Rich said it before he really
won everybody over. Fantastic originally saw the headline like, oh,
showing me fumbles of speech, and I'm like, fumbles nails it,
you losers exactly, so backwards. We need to fix it.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
Donn in Kansas, what's up, man Covin and Rich.
Speaker 4 (24:11):
Hey, thanks for thanks for having me on. I've got
five boys. For the four olders or athletes, the youngest
one's an actor. They're all competitive, they all they all
want to be successful. They're all successful just because the
ones the actor, he wants to have, as the kids say,
his flowers. He wants to have his recognition. The thing
that I find interesting is two things. This lady that's
(24:34):
making the comment on whatever show, she's interested in having
her viewpoints heard by as many people as possible. She's
not saying, hey, I want to stay on this little
show and be a little part of this little show.
She wants it to be big. And this is a
room full of people whose egos, some of who can't
be contained in that room, who would die to be
giving this award.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
So, dude, you're sorry. Are you talking about a round
table show of you know women, round table show? I
think they all want to have huge ratings like beat
the view or something exactly. And again, you know art subjective,
Then why are they at an award show?
Speaker 2 (25:07):
I don't get that. It's so contradictory and hypocritical. Back
to the phones and thanks man, I appreciate that call.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
I appreciate it. And speaking of competition, Cavino and the
quote mamba mentality that Matt wants to talk about it,
I should all have the mamba mentality. I see it
with the little kids. I just started coaching t ball.
I've been coaching my daughter for a couple of years,
but now coaching my son. One of the dads goes,
You'll see real quick that the minute one or two
of the boys start picking something up, they at five
(25:36):
years old, like, well, I can't let little Justin do
it if I can't do it, And they get competitive
at that age.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
And that's the best way to do it. And I
love that that mindset too. Well, if this guy could
do it, I could do it. That's how I got
into radio.
Speaker 9 (25:49):
I know.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
I went to the college radio station and there was
a guy in the radio Z eighty nine in Syracuse,
and I go, this is the guy in the radio.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
Well, if he could do it, I'll sign me up.
I want to learn, you know what, it's all to
the eye of the tiger. Remember Rocky had it, lost it,
got it back. Yeah, it's like you gotta you gotta
applaud that, not like make fun of somebody because they haven't.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
You know how backwards thinking is. It's weenie mentality. Matt
in so Cal, you're all with C and R.
Speaker 11 (26:15):
What's up, buddy, b Natural content back by since here bs,
I told that Danny g dude.
Speaker 8 (26:26):
The last three weeks, you guys have killed the dude
the super Bowl run.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
Thanks you guys.
Speaker 8 (26:31):
You guys are.
Speaker 4 (26:32):
Filling in shows.
Speaker 8 (26:32):
You can't create natural content. I mean you guys, you guys.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
Have been you know why though, Seriously, I'm being serious.
I have the tiger, Dude, that's corn. But we're in it.
To win it. So when I hear a kid like
that talking like that, it gets me fired.
Speaker 5 (26:50):
I'll be like, yeah, bring our hard hats to the
pre show made Orea.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
We're trying to win, man, and I think everybody's trying
to win.
Speaker 1 (26:59):
Don't be trying to shoot this guy down. So, Matt
any any any final thoughts, Buddy, No, I.
Speaker 8 (27:05):
Mean, it's like you said to me, there was humility.
There's humility within the pursuit, like, yes, he he acknowledged
the greats. And if you talk to I mean, I've
been lucky enough to touch some pro leaves and some
of them he played with a guy like Kobe when
he was younger, Like there is humility within their pursuit,
Like these guys know what they're going after, but they.
Speaker 4 (27:24):
Acknowledged the great ones in front of them.
Speaker 8 (27:26):
Like that's part of the aumility and this and Timothy
did that.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
He acknowledged the current grades.
Speaker 8 (27:30):
But at the bottom line, to be that one percent,
you gotta go after it. You gotta compete, and I
think that's doing You're.
Speaker 1 (27:36):
Talking about the Mamba mentality and no matter what industry
you're in, Danny g I know you know the story
is a big Kobe fan, you have a tattoo for
got sakes, Rest in peace, Kobe. One of the best
the story about how he went right at Paul Gasol
in the Olympics and it's like, yo, that's your boy.
You ever hear Lebron and people tell that story where
it's like like, no, he's not going to He's like
(27:57):
on the first play, I'm gonna knock a sell on
his ass. That was like, to me, that was elite
competitive juices right there.
Speaker 5 (28:06):
Ray and Pedalma had a looma. Yeah, it's right below
Santa Rosa in northern California.
Speaker 1 (28:11):
Yeah, guy Fieri's home home turf. What's up, buddy?
Speaker 4 (28:15):
What's up? Guys?
Speaker 12 (28:16):
A shout out Danny g for Northern California local natives.
I was gonna say, you know who's got the winning
mentality is the dough. They are just taking name.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Did you did you email? Did you email your five
reasons to keep your job yet? Jesus man? You know
the controversial, But that's very funny. It is funny. We're
requiring that on our show. By the way, now I
want an email from everyone five things you did last week?
Sam on my desk.
Speaker 5 (28:50):
I'll do that at eight pm while I'm still here. Yeah,
otherwise you're fired. But you're not because I'll follow it
up with a just kidding email. You're just trying to
scare you.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
I love this Shallime story.
Speaker 2 (29:01):
I like him even more, and I think that anybody
who's anyone worked hard to get there because they had
that mentality didn't have by accident, No doubt.
Speaker 1 (29:08):
You're a hawk to a girl, and she worked hard.
Hocking in two. There's exceptions to the rule, but I mean,
come on, she howked into it all.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
She's helping fostering pets right now.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
Is she in prisoner or not? Whatever happened with that? No,
she's good. Let's got a damn buyer for an update, dB,
what's going on? My friend, guys?
Speaker 10 (29:26):
An end of an era in the WNBA expected, but
six time Olympic gold medalist, Diana Tarassi announced her retirement
from basketball forty two years of age. She spent all
twenty years of her WNBA career with the Phoenix Mercury,
making the announcement in Time magazine. One other basketball note
to pass along. It's in the NBA S andnight. It's
the Lakers and Mavericks ten o'clock Eastern Tom from Las Luka,
(29:49):
Doncic faces his former team, Maps forward Anthony Davis will
not play in the game because of his adductor string.
NBA insider Chris Haynes says the Lakers will show a
pregame video honoring Anthony Davis in his time with the Lakers' cool.
Speaker 1 (30:03):
Yeah, when you had a nice thing to do.
Speaker 10 (30:04):
I kind of feel they had to do it because
if you didn't, it would be pretty glaring. But it
should be a fun atmosphere tonight.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
At Kobe and on Rich If you want to chime
in on any of this, you know, let's take one
last phone call from Steve O in Stockton. We're just
giving Timothy shallow May props because the Steve O. I
don't know is that Steveh No way, but to Steve BO,
that staple is junk to as though that's the heat.
Hey guys, me, what's up?
Speaker 13 (30:36):
Man? What's a CNR Fox Sports News number one on
my pre set?
Speaker 3 (30:42):
Thank you?
Speaker 8 (30:42):
Other race.
Speaker 13 (30:43):
What I want to say is, uh, there's a commercial
I don't know I anybody touched up by Gator Ray.
It came out about a year and a half ago.
It's am I a bad person. And it has uh,
it has Lebron going up in the air, it has
a garnet in the sideline, it has a cold be
doing his thing, Serena doing her thing. It's in all
(31:03):
of us, like some cool woogator rate.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
Yeah. People like it's so odd that outside of sports
like we shy away from like this competitive vibe that
we all have.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
I think you need, you need, and there's plenty of
room for everybody to win. You know, we're people competitive,
but the people that aren't trying aren't winning. I promise
you damn dating shows, I.
Speaker 5 (31:25):
Mean catamaran racing that I'm rilled. I'm so competitive. I
want to point out, don't have Fox Sports or Fox
News as your number one?
Speaker 3 (31:33):
Pretty said Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (31:36):
Yeah, Fox Sports News Radio.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
Maybe he thought I was Klay Traviss, but thank you man, uh,
maybe appreciate you. Maybe he thought Cavino was Glenn Beck
because he had that hairline.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
Thank you, yes, thank you, Steve O. And real quick
before we move on shardor Sanders. We really haven't touched
on it, but you know, I heard the promo there before,
and to me, it's always interesting. I do think that
he should have been there just because, right, I just do.
You're talking about the combine, He should have been at
the combine just because. But it's also funny at the
(32:10):
same time to pretend like we don't know how he throws,
like we didn't watch him for the past few years
in college, Like we didn't watch him play, We don't
know his skill set to the point where we were
so offended, like man, I had to see him throw
there to really know with.
Speaker 3 (32:22):
An immense spotlight on him. By the way, yeah, but.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
In stupid drills, how about you got actual footage of
him playing? Like what gives you more of an idea
of how the guy plays him actually playing?
Speaker 1 (32:32):
Are the stupid drills?
Speaker 2 (32:34):
The level of importance that they put on it is ridiculous,
the fact that he wasn't there, Okay, I'll give you that, Like,
you know, you don't want to what do you think
you're better than me? I don't like that vibe of it.
But to pretend, like, man, we really need to see
his skill set. You got plenty of footage, you know.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
I could see where people would say, what do you
think you're better than me? Like, you know, people that
back into their parking spots. Yeah, what do you think
you're better than me? Yeah, you're better than me. Of
course you would say you back into your spots. Only
since I moved to La I didn't do it, and
I I swear like people people thought they don't go
away for summer vacation.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
They actually summer in Montalk. Yeah, I summer in mon talk.
I'm sorry you, what do you think you're better than me?
Somewhere in the Hampton's and I walk backwards, what are
you getting brunch? You think you're better than because you're
getting bunched brunch is legitimate. You think you're better than me?
It was like breakfast food in the middle.
Speaker 1 (33:23):
Of there is a vibe off. He thinks he's better
than you because he didn't go. However, don't pretend like
he had to, because you know what he's capable of. However,
I look at it this way. Some things are not
required for all because we're not all equal. We're equal
in the eyes of like you all want to be
treated with respect and the same rights. But on a
(33:44):
football field, in a radio studio, in a TV studio,
in an office, and a work you know, in an
oil patch, whatever the hell you do not everyone's equal,
they're just not Shudor Sanders could say.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
Listen, if we're having a big company meeting, is dan
Patrick there all the time?
Speaker 1 (33:59):
No, because he's Dan Patrick. Was Colin cow hurt at
our you know sales launch? No, because he doesn't have
to be because I guess what, Hey, that's live. That's
what the people say. This is how it is, Like
why are we shocked? Like should a Sanders? You like,
you said you've seen a skill set. He's thinking, like,
you know, really Cleveland Browns or Titans or teams, you're
(34:19):
really going to make any decisions on him based on
what you saw by how he throws.
Speaker 5 (34:25):
He's also gonna throw at the pro day. And and
I was reading this morning that he said he's just
gonna focus on his interviews with teams.
Speaker 6 (34:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (34:33):
Yeah, I mean like or no, I want you to
roll right and throw.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
Like you got plenty of footage of that. If you
really want the guy.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
Yeah, I mean, then you got to ask yourself, like
how bad do you want someone? Yeah? Someone once told
me in our industry, I'm not saying we're hot shots,
but someone said, there's a time where you go from
having a resume to a bio. You don't need to,
you know, like they're working on a bio. Yeah, that
comes a point where you don't need to be like
they let me show you all my accolades, and it's like, yo,
(35:02):
do you know who I am or not? And should
our sandsers? I get you what you're saying, only a
collegiate athlete not there yet. But I don't need to
see this guy rolling left and throwing ten yards across
his body. You've seen it or not. I don't mind
when players don't show I really I don't care. All right, Well,
if you have a rap sheet, that's that.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
Yeah, we got shack Diesel Trivia next hour giving away
prizes here on the Cavino and Rich Show. Plus we
still got to talk about Lebron and Luca tonight. Yeah,
rock the stats and download our podcast. Let's do get
it for free search Covino and Rich wherever you stream,
and remember over promised our bonus pot if you've seen
Topanga from Boy Meets World.
Speaker 1 (35:41):
It was like drama on her podcasting. Coveno's right, they
said the phrase rock the stats like fifty times. We're
trying to rot the stats. Download the podcast. Danny g
Oh man I read about that little beef this morning.
I was less of a Topega guy. I was more
of a Kelly Kapowski guy. I was more of a
you would Morris.
Speaker 2 (35:58):
I was more of a samanthemous Sell kind of guy,
Angela moona Jonathan Samanid. I was more of Samantha.
Speaker 5 (36:07):
By the way, those girls and and some guys that
do podcasts, now, what would they do with their lives
right now if there was not a platform like podcasting.
Speaker 1 (36:17):
You know they all some of them do well on
podcast about the show they were on.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (36:23):
Yeah, I know, I know that. I mean The Office.
He makes a ton of money in resilt behind the
scenes on a thirty year old show.
Speaker 2 (36:29):
But I think about all the great podcasts we missed
out on as a result, like Kirk Cameron's and Gary Coleman's,
like I would have loved podcast That's a great point, Cauve.
Speaker 5 (36:39):
You know what would have been the juiciest podcast in
the eighties or nineties.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
I would love to hear Philip Drummonds podcast.
Speaker 1 (36:47):
Arnold and Willis. You know what's a good one we missed?
I bet you they would have been a good like
saved by the Bell podcast Rerunning rog had a podcast
that had been cool. Man, everyone's got a podcast, you know,
the in the sopri hey Day, like a weekly recap.
There's Aprentos one now like looking.
Speaker 5 (37:04):
Back the Kids, Yeah, Jamie Lin Sigler and the the
whatever his name is, Robert Siler.
Speaker 2 (37:10):
Yeah, they actually get a lot of props, have a
great chemistry together for sure.
Speaker 3 (37:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:15):
So podcasts are like opinions, everybody has one and most stink.
Speaker 3 (37:20):
Do you think Archie Bunkers podcast would have been racist?
Speaker 4 (37:23):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (37:23):
Absolutely, definitely uncensored.
Speaker 2 (37:24):
Yeah, So again, thank you guys for checking ours out
and it's available again wherever you stream your podcast search
Covino and Rich and Danny g puts the best of
every day and there's the best of the week if
you want to just check it out. So thank you
guys again for being here. Lots of fun this hour.
Shack Diesel Whack Diesel trivia to get you all fired
up for Lakers MAVs tonight.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
Well, my analogy stars when it comes to Luca and
the Lakers stars stars in any relationship or job when
someone in sans you have a deficiency and that's why
they cut things off. Like I said, dating job, any situation,
(38:09):
if you ever the opportunity to prove them wrong or
throw it in their face. Luca right now was pretty
much told, dude, you're a little soft and lazy and
we don't think you got the long term ability to
stay in shape.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
Essentially, I mean, there's no question that it's exactly what happened.
That's why they got rid of them.
Speaker 1 (38:27):
That would be like some girl who had a dirtbag
boyfriend that was like, yeah, you chubby, and then she
comes back with a rock and bod and was like
look at me now on like Jenny Jones or something.
Luca's gonna I what is the over under? Let me
look this up because I feel like there's a bet
to be had. I bet you going from zero to hero.
I bet you on DraftKings. It's got to be thirty something. Right,
(38:50):
You're gonna see the most motivated Luca ever. As con
you said you had a colinake analogy. Yeah, he did
say something along the lines of you're gonna see officially
why this is the most awful trade ever.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
You see how awful this trade actually was. When he
lights him up tonight and we were talking about bringing
your best and being great. He's gonna remind everybody that
he's one of the greats, and he's gonna put on
a show tonight, Oh Dan, And believe you me. When
we do things like radio row at Super Bowl, a
lot of our former employers are there. You don't think
(39:23):
that motivates Rich and I to be like, yo, let's
bring our best and show them what they're missing. It's
always great. Motor failure is a great motivator. There's a
breakups are a great motivator. How many times you get
dumped by a girl you're at the gym in your mind,
at the back of your mind, you're like, you know,
wait until they see me with the next hotty and
my rocking bot. If you don't think that's what Luca
(39:45):
is sort of feeling a little bit, so you're crazy.
Of course he is, like you just said, every time.
If you say, Rich, when have you been in the
best shape?
Speaker 1 (39:52):
When have you been the most motivated? But probably after
some girl told me I stunk?
Speaker 2 (39:56):
Yeah, when are you really trying to get that promotion
or get ahead when you got dumped and dissed because
you know she left you for a guy with deeper
pockets that motivated you. So you're gonna see that Luca's
human and he's just gonna want to show he's not
pounting about it. He's going to show you tonight. Well,
other people have my idea. So the over unders pretty steep.
(40:20):
Thirty one and a half over under Luca points and
now what do you think?
Speaker 3 (40:24):
Yeah, we guessed thirty.
Speaker 1 (40:26):
Because I mean like it over. I say, he'll light
it up.
Speaker 3 (40:29):
He dropped Saturday thirty four.
Speaker 1 (40:31):
And by the way, everyone's going to be feeding him
the ball so that he can light it up.
Speaker 14 (40:34):
You know.
Speaker 2 (40:34):
I just think that it's going to be his night.
For obvious reasons. MAVs big men are out like they're
just destined to be destroyed tonight, and and their fans
are going to be so sad about it.
Speaker 1 (40:46):
Oh man, let me, let me, let me pull a
couple of things here.
Speaker 3 (40:50):
Two, he dropped thirty two on Saturday, so.
Speaker 1 (40:52):
Lucas averaging twenty eight, so it's not substantially more than
his season average, but twenty eight thirty one and a half.
He dropped thirty two, and the Lakers are favored by
almost double digits, Lakers by nine, so it's the pettiest thought,
but it's so true. Do you go Lakers win by
double digits, Lucah over thirty one like a Parla going
to dominate them.
Speaker 2 (41:12):
And again, I think he's gonna show them every reason
why they should regret making that move. Like I said,
it's a silly, petty motivation.
Speaker 1 (41:22):
He's hit it. He's like Julie Robertson a pretty woman.
Speaker 2 (41:24):
Yeah, but when you got dumped or huge, if you've
ever been dumped, there's a sense of satisfaction if you're
able to make them feel in any way possible that
they made a bad move and they regret it.
Speaker 1 (41:41):
And that's what he's gonna do tonight.
Speaker 10 (41:42):
What's up, dB, Here's my question, who truly has the
motivation tonight? Is it Luca against his former team or
is it the Mavericks team as a whole that has
been told that they are significantly worse without Luka Doncic
and no Anthony Davis ah and who knows more about
Luka Doncic than the Dallas Mavericks.
Speaker 1 (42:04):
The quote coming to America, it's a good one was
shocked though. Dan Biden makes a great point because we
talked about this at the Super Bowl and we were
trying to say who's got more motivation for the three
peete or for Jalen Hurts to get there, And we
made the argument that how could you judge like everyone's
going to be motivated if you don't think the Dallas
Mavericks locker room is like, yeah, let's shut everyone up.
Speaker 10 (42:26):
Sure, and it may maybe their time comes when the
game's in Dallas, but I also think, like when that
game plays, like, I'm almost thinking that Luca would have
the motivation when they go to Dallas just to have
his homecoming and have the fans on his side. Very interesting,
and I think that the betting lines make it so
interesting tonight. I just said under earlier today, So that's
(42:46):
that was from where I came from. I can I
think both sides of the coin can be seen here,
but I think that Dallas will at least be motivated.
They also got blown up by the Warriors on Sunday,
so it hasn't been a great time for them that
maybe tonight they for some reason just end up bringing.
Speaker 2 (43:01):
What the truth is, we don't know until it happens,
and that's the beauty of sports. That's why it makes
it so exciting to watch and see. You know, for
all we know, Dan Byer could be completely right. We
come back tomorrow. Like, yo, man, I can't believe that.
Speaker 1 (43:15):
Yeah, where was Luca last night?
Speaker 5 (43:17):
It would only surprise me because there was only one
guy in that whole deal that was called fat.
Speaker 3 (43:22):
Yeah right, and Cavino.
Speaker 5 (43:24):
When this first happened, you said, oh my god, if
that happened to me, I'd be on the treadmill that night.
Speaker 1 (43:28):
Dude.
Speaker 2 (43:29):
I was let go by my previous job. Every time
I cracked the mic here, I want to remind them
that they made a mistake.
Speaker 1 (43:37):
Every girl that broke up with me.
Speaker 2 (43:39):
Every day I use that as motivation, as man, wait
till I make my millions. I can't wait to post
a picture of myself on a yacht and hope they
regret it.
Speaker 1 (43:47):
Ah. Yeah, Like in the back of my mind is
petty motivation. He has that. He has that so and
that's why you're seeing him so fired up. You're seeing
a fired up Luca. You've seen the Lakers play great defense.
All of a sudden, you're seeing them win. They're playing
good ball.
Speaker 2 (44:02):
And that brings us to something else too that we
haven't had time for in the past. Few days rich
before we do check Diesel trivia. Wem bin Yama made
a statement about how well he was asked, like, who's
the most underrated player in the NBA?
Speaker 1 (44:15):
By the way, I got a plus two point fifty
bet here, guy, just throw it at you. Sure, plus
two fifty bet one hundred win two fifty. I got
Luca thirty two points or more, Lakers minus eight and
a half in the game, and Lakers win the first half.
So Lakers win the first half, Lakers win the game
by eight and a half or more, by nine, and
(44:37):
Luca thirty two plus. You like that one? You bet?
It makes it fun? Yeah, for sure. Let's let's look.
I think I think he's enlighted up tonight.
Speaker 2 (44:46):
But again, what Dan Byer said could very well be
a possibility, and that's what makes it fun to watch.
So ween bin Yama was asked who was the most
underrated player in the NBA, and if you missed it,
here's what he said about it.
Speaker 1 (44:58):
Whose game is most under.
Speaker 5 (45:00):
In the league.
Speaker 3 (45:01):
I'm gonna go with it. I'm gonna go with Lebron
underrated just because you're not righted at your right right.
I think Lebron's underrated.
Speaker 2 (45:09):
And I had people scratching their heads. But when you
think about what he's doing at this age, even though
he's very rated and everybody, I don't think it's a
sports show in the nation that doesn't bring his name
up like once a show.
Speaker 1 (45:23):
Even though he's very rated.
Speaker 2 (45:24):
Would you say that's a fair assessment from when Binyama
because he's saying, Yo, man, I still see some greatness
and that what a what a complment coming from a
young man at the top of his game.
Speaker 1 (45:34):
You could be very rated and still underrated that I
don't think that's Impuffy Blake. Yeah. I think there's NFL players,
there's players in baseball, basketball, all sports where you're like, no, no,
they're respected, But I'm telling you they're not respected even
enough value he brings to a team, the leadership.
Speaker 2 (45:52):
You know, you got a factor to criticism that he
gets because he gets a lot of it. I think
what wen bin Yama said about Lebron speaks filliams. It's like, Yo,
here's a guy that's so rated and we know that
he's in a goat conversation one hundred and fifty times
a week. Still he's still underrated. In his opinion, that's amazing.
Speaker 1 (46:12):
When you look at your own team, I think everyone
could draw one name where it's like, I watch this
guy day in and day out. He's underrated. Everyone has
that guy in their own team. I'm saying on a
bigger scale, Lebron James, because there's so many Lebron haters
and people like to kick him down and put him down.
And he's not Michael Jordany's. He's not the Goat, He's
not this He's not even Kobe, he's not even Magic
(46:34):
or Bird. I think Lebron James. I said to Covino
in the hallway yesterday, Lebron James.
Speaker 3 (46:42):
Lebron James, Larron James.
Speaker 1 (46:45):
But by the way, that kid's like forty. That kid's forty. Now,
that's how long Lebron's been dominating that kid, Larron James.
He's married with children, Lebron James. If somehow he's O'Neill.
If he wins the NBA title this year with Luca,
that would mean two championships with the Lakers, two with
(47:07):
the Heat and he took the Cleveland Cavaliers in the
in the Greatest season, where the Warriors had were the
best team in NBA history. And lost after being up
three to one. That would be five NBA titles. So Lebron,
I think you would argue he's over he's underrated.
Speaker 2 (47:27):
For what he's done. I say, I know it sounds crazy,
but I totally get what he's saying.
Speaker 1 (47:32):
When we watch the Olympics last year, what did every
superstar in the NBA say, y'all? I don't get to
play with Lebron every day. No one practices harder, no
one has the work ethic, no one, no one brings
to the table what Lebron James rings.
Speaker 2 (47:46):
It actually has the respect of all the players in
the league. No one has more respect from their peers.
Lebron James speaks volumes, Dude, Lebron never you know how
they always have those like those silent surveys, like, hey,
most over at a player to this most that Ron
James will never win most overrated.
Speaker 1 (48:03):
He is respected by his peers.
Speaker 2 (48:06):
Facts and now was just an interesting story that what
was that last week? Or was it it was the
end of last week right and we just didn't have
time for it. But speaking of the Lakers tonight, I
think we're going to see why he said that. I
think we're going to see a really great game tonight.
I think we're going to see what the Lakers got.
And you know there's so much hype that they could
go all the way this year.
Speaker 1 (48:26):
Man. Well, and just like that, just like that, they're
playing great defense.
Speaker 5 (48:30):
Like whoa when you know one guy who's a little
underrated right now because the the Lakers are like eighteen
and four in this past stretch of the season, and
so you got to give a lot of credit to
JJ Reddick.
Speaker 3 (48:42):
We haven't talked about him at all, and remember.
Speaker 2 (48:44):
Saying I heard I even heard Stephen A. Smith, who
was very critical of before the started of the year.
Speaker 5 (48:52):
I remember dudes on our own network laughing at that,
saying this is a joke. And look at where they're
at now, where they at the third, fourth seed. They're
doing well. They got to keep this up going into
the final stretch of the season.
Speaker 3 (49:05):
Here. But Austin reeves, what a tear that guy has been.
Speaker 1 (49:09):
On airing it up.
Speaker 2 (49:10):
Yeah, and again it's understated because who well, you see
what the numbers he's putting up. But I'll go back
to the JJ Reddick thing just for one second, though,
You're right, the criticism that he got it is worthy
of You got to take it back or apologize podcast
boys exactly. That's insane. And like you said, Reeves.
Speaker 5 (49:29):
Just yeah, the combination and we saw it in Denver
and hopefully they could keep that formula going. But the
big three really have been Lebron, Luca and Austin Reeves.
So if those three can stay hot, this team can
go far.
Speaker 2 (49:42):
Coach of the Year JJ Reddick, So man, they're firing
on all cylinders, as the expression goes at just the
right time, and we're going to see it on the
main stage, on a big stage tonight. Just more reason
to enjoy some tacos Lebron style on a Taco Tuesday.
Speaker 1 (49:59):
You know, that's the coolest part about Austin Reeves. Austin Reeves,
his cool headband, his corny like haircut. Well these are
all I mean, do you keep going? He's unassuming nature.
Speaker 3 (50:10):
His wristbands.
Speaker 1 (50:12):
Austin Reeves undrafted in twenty twenty one when he broke
on the scene. You remember those first couple of games, Danny,
we were doing a show together early on. This is
like the early days of Coveno on Richerd on Fox
Sports Radio, when he started coming into his own there
was almost a sense of like, all right, this is
this Like for real? Is this like another Alex Caruso
type of guy. He's like, you know, great white hope
(50:33):
kind of yeah guy you root for, Like is he
gonna be like the guy off the bench, And it's like,
oh wow, he's become a key component. He's a star
now good team.
Speaker 5 (50:42):
And defensively too, he's like this anytime he gets on
the floor.
Speaker 3 (50:45):
He's a spark plug for the team.
Speaker 2 (50:46):
And what makes him great rich you already said it
is that he's unassuming, and I think that makes it
more fun. That's why I loved Gannadi Glovkin triple g
because he looked like a nerd who would beat your
ass in the rain. You know, when someone's unassuming like that,
it just makes it so much cooler. So major props
to him. And we're gonna see what the Lakers got tonight?
(51:07):
Or are we gonna see what the MAVs got? Can't wait?
Speaker 1 (51:10):
The one thing wait, based on this conversation we just had,
I gave what Lebron all these props saying how great
he is if he scores forty five and that prevents
me from winning my Luca over thirty point best. I
gotta hate Lebron tomorrow. All right, we got more compete
on rich. All right, let's do this. It's time for
(51:33):

Speaker 1 (54:36):
Round two.
Speaker 3 (54:36):

Speaker 14 (54:39):

Speaker 5 (56:22):

Speaker 3 (56:31):

Clay's dad.
Speaker 14 (56:35):
That's right, the Lakers who are going to win tonight.
But again, I don't know if they're going to go
all the way. You know why, Danny g no big man.
You need a big man. Everybody needs a big man.
Speaker 5 (56:44):
Jackson Hayes has been looking okay, like everybody needs a
big You're right, though they probably could use one one
more big You.
Speaker 1 (56:50):
Give me an algy shock. Does anyone really have a
big great man? Like in baseball, everyone's like our team's
rotation stinks. I'm like, does anyone have a great rotation
in twenty twenty five? You know, so they can do
without the big man?
Speaker 3 (57:01):
Hey, Ken in San Francisco, We appreciate you playing the game.

Shaq had a restaurant that apparently closed down downtown. Yeah,
I uh his chicken franchise closed out by us, and

many he has his hands and a lot of yeah
ventures like Papa John's Pizza.
Speaker 5 (58:01):
Yeah, yeah, yes, Chelone, those are disappearing by us too.

The Tuscan six cheese, It's delicious. Yeah, recommended, highly recommended.
Colt GM Chris Ballard says there will be an open
competition at quarterback next season that includes Anthony Richardson, who
had been their season opening starter of the first two
(58:27):
years of his career. Chiefs GM Brett Viach says he
believes Senator Travis Kelce will be back for the twenty
twenty five season.
Speaker 1 (58:34):
Let's get to this O'Shea Jackson Junior story. Yeah, real quick,
right quick.
Speaker 2 (58:38):
It's a two part doozy because O'sha Jackson turned thirty
four yesterday. We ran at a time yesterday, so happy
birthday to him and the Rock. His little French bulldog
passed away, so it's a it's a relevant story on
two parts. Happy birthday Osha Jackson and our condolences to
(58:59):
the Rock. This is about being starstruck.
Speaker 1 (59:02):
Take a listen.
Speaker 2 (59:03):
This is ice Cube Son oh Shaye Jackson Junior on
being starstruck.
Speaker 15 (59:09):
I'm in sixth grade. We're around the school spreads like
wildfire share. Your dad's here, so I'm thinking, what did
I do? Picking me up from school is grandma business?
My dad's not doing this too, so I'm like, I
can't think of what I did. So when I get outside,
he's outside in the nice car. Now we got family
vehicles four doors, but he's here in the two doors.
(59:29):
So this is the nice car. I get in the car.
He drives all the way to Venice. Sit down at
this restaurant. We're at a table, it's bigger than it
should be. For two people in walks. My hero the
rock Jesus, and he just sits next to me, and
him and my dad have a meeting over lunch, and I.
Speaker 1 (59:45):
Am starstruck, beyond belief.
Speaker 15 (59:48):
I can't get any words to come out of my mouth.
As a kid, the memories I have from it is I.
Speaker 1 (59:53):
Got a cheeseburger, He got a cheeseburger.
Speaker 15 (59:55):
I got a root beer. He got a diet coke.
Thought that was weird. It wasn't really filling that one
of caffeine. But he didn't want the sugar. My dad
was like, dude, talk to him. Who do you want
him to kick? And I'm just like, I can't talk.
He signed my shirt, took a picture, he paid for
his meal.
Speaker 1 (01:00:09):
Lady came back for the change. He didn't take the change,
just walked out. And I took his quarter and put
it in my bucket and I put it in a
sandwich bag and I still have it.
Speaker 3 (01:00:16):
He still got the quarter.
Speaker 1 (01:00:17):
Damn, right, where's the quarter at? Give it to my moms.
She has it in her safe.
Speaker 3 (01:00:21):
The lucky quarter. Yeah, dude, it's rocks quarter.
Speaker 14 (01:00:23):
Bro.
Speaker 1 (01:00:23):
How old were you twelve?
Speaker 3 (01:00:25):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:00:25):
So you're in the heat of loving wrestling. Dude. Yes,
I went to the Scorpion King premiere. That's a rock fan. God,
that's a rock fan.
Speaker 6 (01:00:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:00:33):
I went to see The Mummy Returns twice. He's in
the movie for five minutes. This was my dude, bro,
So how cool is that?
Speaker 2 (01:00:40):
Like, those are the celebrity perks that you dream of
having lunch with his dad and the rock. But the
point here is he was so starstruck he couldn't think
of anything to say to the dude. And he still
has that quarter, which is great because deep down inside,
we're all a little twelve year old kid who remembers
how we felt about our heroes.
Speaker 1 (01:01:00):
Seriously that you know, we all had heroes at twelve
years old. That was his. When you if you ever
get the opportunity to meet someone that you would consider
a hero, it really is. It is an awkward moment.
One story comes to mind for me. The first Super
Bowl that I ever went to cover was in Jacksonville, Florida,
(01:01:25):
and I was in my twenties and across the room.
This is before Kavino and I were interviewing. I guess
athletes on the regular. This is like when we were
sort of new to the athlete world. Was our first
coverage of the Super Bowl. So this is big. Yeah.
So they're like, yeah, you're gonna have the opportunity to
interview some legends I see across the room, Joe Montana
(01:01:47):
and to know me. I'm a diehard forty nine Ers fan,
and Joe Montana is the reason I wore sixteen when
I played sports. That's why my daughter wears sixteen because
she knows that's my favorite number. Like I played Red
sixteen Danny every time we go to Vegas. Right, it's
my thing. Montana is my guy. As Ohshay said, this
is my guy. I was like, what am I gonna
(01:02:07):
say when I finally meet you Montana? Would you believe?
The best I could come up with was, hey, Joe,
I had your pajamas when I was a kid. I
couldn't believe he said it. And you know what he
said to him, because I hope you don't still wear him.
Because Richard is a grown man. You gotta snappy comeback.
We've met him a couple times since, but I remember
always thinking about it, like I wasn't a kid, I
was twenty five man.
Speaker 2 (01:02:28):
Yeah, because He'll always be your hero. So who was
that for you? And who would you be starstruck to meet?
Speaker 1 (01:02:34):
For me?
Speaker 2 (01:02:34):
That was done manningly, And I'll tell you a story
on another day. Let's just say I got caught right
next to him in traffic one time and.
Speaker 1 (01:02:41):
I lost it. All right, have a great night. We'll
see you tomorrow. Until then, I'll r even there in
the Promised Land. Man
