Speaker 1 (01:44):
I'm rich and I am uh feeling a little rebellious today.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
I feel like a rebel.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
I'm feeling little under the weather. Howell you on like
treeks today. Deflated cheeks is what I feel like. I
should have believeed on everyone then. But when I'm here,
it is super fun time. So I'm super humped about
the show, super pumped to get into some midweek major
We do it every Wednesday, every hump Day, turning into
a hump night. I hope you're having a show. Hey,
sort of a day, but we go over the biggest

(02:11):
headlines in the world of sports and entertainment. We're going
to talk some new stadium treats because baseball is right
around the corner for the rest of US. Dodgers and
Cubs fans already having some fun, but we have lots
to get to.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Austin Reeves, We're going to talk about thinking about how
you don't listen? What do I what do I not me?
How many times did your me?

Speaker 1 (02:35):
How many times did your girlfriend or ex wife say
you didn't hear what I said? I'm sorry, what'd you say?
It happens a lot. Actually it's called selective here. Of course,
sometimes I selected not hear you. Well you did. I said,
I'm feeling rebellious, as if that matters, But you didn't
realize I was getting to something.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
You just kept going.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
I can only imagine how many times your girlfriend's like, yeah,
I'm feeling something and you're like, yeah, that's great. You know,
the Yankees will be John Collos hurting, so it's cool.
I mean when I think of you, I always think
of rebellious. Would you believe the wild guy here on
Fox Sports Radio?

Speaker 2 (03:08):
Would you believe?

Speaker 1 (03:09):
For the first time in my life, I was banned
for one day from Facebook you and two Live Crew. Dude,
you're a bad boy. I'm a bad man banned in
the USA.

Speaker 4 (03:20):
You know.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
I was banned for posting that stupid picture of John
Lennon's ass. We talked about yesterday when I said, when
I said, the baseball season is a long ass day,
like that funny picture of John Lennon's ass. Would you
believe I went to post a happy birthday to an
old school pal today and it's like you have been
blocked for like like like as if I'm some smut call.
You're in Facebook prison, cause you know, you gotta be careful.

(03:48):
You're the coach of a bunch of little leaguers and
softball kids. They're gonna find out that Coach Davis is
a pervert. Then what are you gonna do. Look at
the back of my shirt today, Coach Rich, Please thank you.
Coach Rich is banned on Facebook. I wonder why, Oh, conludity,
that's why you're.

Speaker 5 (04:06):
Only supposed to show like seventy five percent of the
butt crack. Yes, that's like the TV rules, Like you
only shows seventy five percent. Yeah, John Lennons is so
long it breaks all the rules. I could have believe
that we had that one hundred and fifty of a
butt crack. We had that silly conversation yesterday at the
end of the show.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
In fact, we posted a clip about it at coch
analogy was that the baseball season is a long season
like John Lennon's butt crack. If you've never seen the photo,
check our Instagram. And the football season is a real
short season, so every game counts like Yo go Ono's
butt crack in this famous photo again at Covino and
Rich Rich posted it. Now, he's the bad guy? Is

(04:43):
that why you're the rebel, the loner? Is that why
I'm the bad guy?

Speaker 2 (04:47):
I feel feel rough and tough today?

Speaker 1 (04:49):
Wow? Okay, but I just figure we stupidly ended the
show at that yesterday and that got me banned for
the first time in Facebook history.

Speaker 5 (04:56):
Facebook prison, Rich, But it's Rich really like you're in
Facebook aunty jail.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
Like they'll let you out eventually, like in a day.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
The food's not good in here.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Orange jumpsuit to wear for a little bit, Sky If
I feel that way, we do have a lot to
get to today, Like you said, Midweek Major some stadium
treats Austin Reeves, the Lakers, But we have to talk
about your own success versus the team you wrote day
in and day out for.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
Like you're a big Yankees guy.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
You were crying yesterday about how you feel like it's
bad news in the season hasn't even started yet. Yeah,
and I'm not usually that guy. But when your ace
goes down and you haven't replaced him and it doesn't
look like you're going to anytime soon, I mean, Garrett
calls out, how do you win a World Series without
your ace pitcher? Seriously, that's the biggest and that's just

(05:49):
part of the story. As we mentioned yesterday, no third
basement because the Mayhew you're banking on the Mayhew and
is tangled potsis this guy has feet problems. Every year
you got no Luise Heel, no rookie of the Year's
another big arm gone at least for three months, six months.
Schmidt's hurt, Jean Carlos Stanton's hurt, big players hurt. So

(06:10):
it's like it's hard to feel positive. I'm excited that
baseball's here and that there's something to watch and something
to root for, but it's hard to think more than
ever when you got the Dodgers, when you got the
Mets and the Phillies and a stacked a last that
the Yankees have a shot.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
You just.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
Gotta believe that when the star players go down like that.
I bring this up because a lot of times you wonder, hey,
do I care more about my own success or the
success of the teams I root for. It's a really
like when you think about it, it sounds like it
would be a dumb question, like, of course I care
more about my own success. Yaibiah, I've always said that.
The drug Goo said, I fight for me, the yah

(06:54):
I fight for me.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
How do you haven't?

Speaker 1 (06:55):
I was a close captioning, I don't know. You have
to imagine that more than ever, people fight for themselves.
It's like narcissism has gone rampant since social media became
a thing. Everybody so into themselves. You think people care
about anyone else more than themselves, You're out of your mind.

(07:16):
Only self centered people dancing in front of the mirror
all day, a bunch of weirdos. As you pointed out,
everybody the superstar of their own movie. As you point out,
what are some people's worst qualities, everyone else embraces. Well,
I've said that about myself. What was considered to be
my worst quality. Steven's so self centered. I guarantee you
if you ask any of my ex girlfriends, like, Steve's

(07:38):
a nice guy, but what a self centered son of
a bee?

Speaker 2 (07:41):
That was my worst quality.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
However, in today's world, that's the quality that everybody leans
the most into, and it seems to be Okay. It's
a terrible way to be. It's something I was trying
to fix, but now it just is. Now it's just
what everybody is. So I would have to believe that
more people are all about their own personal success than
anyone else. However, I mean, take a look in the

(08:04):
stands at any college, NFL, NBA game, and we were
about to start March badness. So the question is this,
what do you root for more? The success of the
team you root for, okay, or your own success. And
I bring this up because so you're saying, like for
me the Yankees, which we already said, I'm looking looking.

(08:26):
Uh No, I have sea. I have a great hypothetical.
But let me set this up your team or your
own person. I have a perfect hypothetical for a guy
like you. But let's start by introducing Ben Stiller, who
was on the New Heights podcast and Ben Stiller, you
know who we saw I was gonna be in Happy
Gilmour too.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Oh your fingers hurt.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
He's gonna be in the second one. We all love
Ben Stiller. He's such a Knicks fan that this is
what he said to the Kelseys.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
Would you rather win an Academy Award or Knicks wine? Realistically,
I think the Knicks winning a championship.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
In the car, So I'm definitely down for that.

Speaker 6 (09:10):
But if I was, like, if I was forced, I
really think like, at the end of the day, if
I knew that I had the choice, I would give
it to the Knicks.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Brings a whole city joy.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
And to be honest, I think here said I mean
from a guy who's had a lot of life success, like,
is that award gonna change his life?

Speaker 4 (09:31):
No?

Speaker 1 (09:32):
So he's like, yeah, yeah, I'll take the Knicks victory.
So I'm saying it's just easier for him to see that.
The second regular Fellow because Bradley Cooper Okay had once
said that he cared more about the Eagles winning than
any award he could have won. It went it meant
way more to him to see his Eagles win than
his own personal accolades. So when you dumb it down,

(09:54):
it's really a question of what brings you more joy
when you dumb it down. Let me give everyone in
this room. I've thought of an hypothetical for everyone here.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
If I said, Steve Cavino, yeah that's me. What would
you rather more?

Speaker 1 (10:07):
The Yankees win a World Series they haven't done it
since ow nine Yankees won a World Series. Or your
daughter's cheerleading squad coming in first place like States. It's
kind of tough, but not really. Of course, I want
my daughter to feel what it's like to win and

(10:27):
to take some pride in victory and to feel good
about herself, and I want her to build confidence. But
I don't care that much about her team winning. Oh
I care more about my Yankees winning. You would choose,
I choose her own personal success. Like if you said
your daughter personally won an award. I can never root
against my daughter, but her team I don't care that
much about her team. I know that sounds crazy, but

(10:50):
do you see what I'm saying there? Like if you
told me your daughter won some crazy scholarship because she
was the greatest kid of all time?

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Yeah, versus the Yankees.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
Of course I'm gonna root for my kid, But when
you say her team, I'm like, hey, I was a
part of a lot of teams that didn't win. I
feel just fine about my confidence. So I'm going with
the Yankees. Based on your specific question, Dany G, you
have Raiders tattoos.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
I do have one Raiders sword on the back of
the mind.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
So let me ask you this.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
Raiders have not won since Jim Plunkett. They have not
won since you were a little boy. I picture you
with a beard as a little boy. Though weird, he
was a little kid with a chin strap. G had
a chin strap beard.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
It's five.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
Haven't been in the super Bowl since the early two thousands.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Danny G.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
Raiders win the Super Bowl, or your little boy CoA
wins like the Pop Warner Championship locally.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
When he's like.

Speaker 6 (11:40):
Ten, well, Cole wasn't planned, But I've planned my whole
adult life for the Raiders to win a super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
He's been planning this out.

Speaker 6 (11:52):
Yeah, I and it looks so far as if CoA
may be a soccer prodigy. The way he's kicking as
I for soccer ball around nice, dribbling it around, the
field and the kids barely eighteen months old. So yeah,
I as long as he had individual success on the
soccer field, which I'd be okay with that.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
That's what I was getting at too.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
Danny like, yeah, my kid's individual success, I'll always root
for that first, But when it comes to my team,
I'm putting my team.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
Over their team. Yeah. If anyone can remember the player,
I always thought this was wild.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
There was a player whose dad admitted it was a
player that's from Queens, New York. This guy was on
like the Brewers or Marlins or something, and his dad admitted, yeah,
I watched the Mets every day, and then I go
back and watch the highlights of my son.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
Hey, I remember that. Who was that? I forget who
it was.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
But there are people that their kids are in the
pros and they're like, yeah, my son's on the Titans.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
But uh, we other families are Steelers' family. It's like,
are you kidding?

Speaker 1 (12:53):
I always think this is an interesting question personal or
family accolades versus the team you root for. Because Big Mike,
who runs his place, who Mike said that he rather
his little kid when his kid was, you know, six
years old. Score one goal, in a six to one
loss than any of my team's winning because which my

(13:14):
family versus stupid dream Yeah, I mean, everyone has their thing.
Mike was pretty adamant about that, but then again, he's
a Dodgers. Fine. Last year, I gotta be honest. I
asked you and I put you guys on the spot,
and when I thought about it myself, I wanted to
be all righteous. I'm the guy that's coaching these kids
every week. I coach a girls softball team and a

(13:36):
boys t ball team. As everyone knows, I'm the number
one coach on Fox Sports. Right, wait till they all
find out what a rebel you are, So until they
find out you were banned on Facebook for being a creep.
So you would think my answer is, of course, my kids,
the children. But if you told me it's Game seven
of the World Series, Mets versus I'd say, my son

(13:56):
Ben's little league championship when he's like nine. That's what
I'm saying. Ben could still have a great season and
not win. I'd probably say, yeah, the Mets.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
But you're right. If you told me my son's gonna
win a win by hitting.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
A walk off rights ever root against that, then you're
gonna root for your kid, But I think I still
right on personal little league accolades. So I would never
root against you know, your kid or my kid to
not achieve those moments, but their team, I don't.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
Care about that.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
I wanted to talk to that with you guys because
I thought we'd come to an answer, and I think
we have in The answer is this, And if you
disagree with this, you're on drugs.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
You're crazy.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
You can never root for your team against your kids
personal accolades, but you could root for your team over
your kids team's accolades. Yes, if it's your kid hits
the game winning three pointer and his you know, junior
high basketball team wins, you'll pick that over the Suns

(14:56):
winning an NBA title for sure. But if I said, yeah,
your kids like a bench player and his team wins,
or the Sons and you're a Sons fan. By the way,
was it Jonathan India's dad, Yes, Di, iheard Mets fan
even if his son was on the Reds.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
Was he was on the Reds? He was on the
Reds of the time.

Speaker 1 (15:13):
I remember they interviewed his dad and he's like, yeah,
I grew up in Queens I'm a Mets fan. I
watch the Mets every day on MLBtv, and then I
go back and just watch my sons at Bets. Yep, Yep,
that was it. I just looked it up right now,
So I mean, yeah, because and you said it, you're
a blank family. It's not that you're being selfish in

(15:33):
that moment. Danny g is from a Raiders family and
he invested his whole life waiting for a super Bowl.
It's not that selfish of a thought. And I kind
of get what Ben Steeler's saying, But again, what does
an oscar mean to a guy that has multimillions of dollars?

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Anyway? And sometimes awards me nothing.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
If I told you, Kno, some people don't put any
value on awards at all. If I told you they
were gonna give you the Steve Kavino, You're gonna win
the Premiere Radio Network iHeart Syndicated Show of the Year award,
or the Yankees or the Yankees won the World Series
awards mean something to me? Oh see, I would choose
the Mets win over US winning an award, oh us
or me, because that would be cool.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
If I won and you didn't.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
And Rich No, no, just Covino. Yeah, yeah, he won as
a show, not just him. They decided to leave Rich.
I feel cool about that. Yeah, that's that's a tough one. Rich,
That's a tough one. But Ben Steeller the story today
and the reason we bring it up is Ben Steeler
says he chooses his knicks over a potential oscar on
the New Heights podcast and Bradley Cooper has said the

(16:36):
same thing before. Yeah, and I think it also depends
on how long the drought's been.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
Oh yeah, all these things matter if you refer how
bad is your kidney to win.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
If you're a Cubs fan and twenty sixteen hadn't hit yet,
you would have chosen that over anything.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
But again, if you're a Chiefs fan, yeah, you've you've
had some success.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
Over the past handful of years. I think you would
choose your kids little league game over the Chiefs. So
think about it. Let us know. Chime in at Covino
and Rich at Fox Sports Radio and Rich, we got
more CNR Midweek Major Rodney P.

Speaker 2 (17:13):
Austin Reeves, we got more next.

ninety nine on Fox Iowa. Sam on the Ones and
Tuesday Dan Byers here, got your update in about ten
minutes and spot getting ready for midweek major. We do
it every Wednesday, the biggest stories of sports and pop culture.
I don't know that many Minnesota Viking fans. I feel
like I think of our boss Scott. We got Lennyo, Lizzo,

(19:07):
she counts Minnesota Viking. Didn't you claim to like as
she hooked up with the Minnesota Viking?

Speaker 2 (19:13):
What guy school?

Speaker 1 (19:16):
Who else do you know that the Vikings fan? Do
you have any close Viking fan friends? Yeah, my buddy Caine,
that's radio radio legend Cain from New York. Yeah, he's
originally from Minnesota. Our buddy Rocket Pooh, I'm not giving
you a quiz. I'm just asking have you taken the
temperature of any of these fans as far as like
did they want Aaron Rodgers or not?

Speaker 2 (19:36):
Because that story as of today is done.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
I don't think anybody wants yea.

Speaker 6 (19:41):
We talked about JJ McCarthy last year and how much
we knew the Vikings organization loved him.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
They loved them.

Speaker 1 (19:47):
They bought into the Harbaugh hype and they said, you know,
Hartbaugh was right, this kid's a legit, real deal. He
just got hurt and they lucked out with Sam Darnold.

Speaker 6 (19:55):
Yeah, and I know it was a preseason game against
my Raiders, but he looked fabulous until he got hurt.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
Reality is money wise, where every team now is like
cutting cost and shedding dollars in cap space.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
If you could go with a rookie quarterback.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
You saw how that is the advantage in the NFL,
if you could go with a young gun. I mean,
you signed Aaron Rodgers. What's the minimum you're gonna pay
for Aaron Rodgers forty to fifty million? And now you're
just in a You're in a different scenario. So I
think Minnesota made the right move. Yeah, so much more upside.
No knock on Rogers. Dude's a legend for sure, but

(20:29):
all the noise he comes with expectations, question marks or
banking on the future with a young dude, lots of promise,
Like there's so much more upside to the McCarthy move.
And that's how I would feel. I don't want the
older guy. And by the way, you're saying older guy's
fun to root for, you know, it's a fun story.

(20:52):
I just don't believe. Is he a different older guy
now to you? Though, yes, very much. I don't think
he's one hundred percent focused on football the way he
us to be. Life has changed for him. He's doing
his podcast, he's going to be outspoken, he's uh into
his extracurricular activities. And again, these are all great things,
but I don't think they gel with a team that's
trying to really win and build for the future. Sam

(21:14):
Darnold was arguably the most pleasant surprise in the National
Football League last year. So let me ask a guy
sitting over there, Dan Byer, what's up, my friend? Do
you think Justin Jefferson, Kyle Rudolph, guys on that offense
were hoping to maybe get an Aaron Rodgers or do
you think they're like, no, let's go with the young kid.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
Kyle Rudolph retired, remember yeah, when did he retire? Well,
he was actually with us at Fox Sports Radio. I
think k thinking of that, Yes, TJ.

Speaker 2 (21:44):
HoTT, that's like Kevin Kyle.

Speaker 1 (21:45):
I'm like because immediately I thought, quick, I'm like, Kyle, No, Okay,
that's all years ago.

Speaker 3 (21:49):
All good. I'm sure that they you know what I know.

Speaker 4 (21:53):
I'm not going to say they know the guy that
they know, and so the guy that they know is
in their building. And I do think what is going
on with this flirtation or whatever it was, couldn't be
good for JJ McCarthy. But I'm still thinking that he's
he's the guy in their building. They're gonna go with
the guy, and I think they're gonna be a good teammate.

(22:13):
That's what I will say with that.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
I think by going with Aaron Rodgers, it would have
been it would have been risky. I mean, we know
a lot of giants fans Rich were from the East Coast.
What's the temperature there are they? Do you know one giant.
I'm gonna text my uncle Bill as we speak that
he represents the millions of New Yorkers. How I'm to say,
do you want Aaron Rodgers uncle? You think he's like, yeah, man,

(22:36):
I'm hoping for Rogers. I doubt it very much. And
it's not a knock. It's just where he is in
his career.

Speaker 6 (22:43):
So I'd like to alert all the affiliates that Covino's
texting his uncle or yeah, just so.

Speaker 3 (22:47):
You know, man.

Speaker 4 (22:48):
And also, this is a Giants team picking third in
the draft. The only quarterback they have under contract right
now is Tommy DeVito. It's the only one that they've
got under contract for sure.

Speaker 6 (22:59):
And a lot of the mock drafts have the Giants
taking Shador Sanders, whether that happens or.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
Not, or even trading up to one to try to
get cam.

Speaker 1 (23:08):
So, I mean, we get it, the Giants need somebody,
But do they want him? We said from the start,
right here on the show, that it was the easiest
fit and the easiest move because he embraced New York
already and it's right there in his backyard. But do
the fans really want him? I haven't heard again. The
reason I put up Uncle Bill Rich and I talk
to Giants fans every day in our personal lives. Not

(23:29):
one of our friend not one of my friends or
family has expressed to me that, dude.

Speaker 2 (23:34):
They gotta make it happens.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
I mean, they saw what happened with the Crosstown team.
It's like, I magically imagine if the hottest girl in
town dated someone you knew and he's like, yeah, you's
not that cool. That's sort of like what giant fans
are feeling. The guy across town was like, oh, he's
dating the hottest girl. Yeah, bros, not that great. That's
her giant fans are feeling. And I'm still mad at
myself for saying Kyle Rudolph instead of TJ.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
Hawkinson. It's all good man, kid.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
But you know when you think of a guy and
he's permanently in your mind for that team, Yeah, I
guess it's just like a permanence about that guy.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
I don't know why that for me. I'm like, I
thought he's like a permanent Viking.

Speaker 5 (24:11):
I think he's because he caught a touchdown pass and
like one of their few playoff wins over the years
with k.

Speaker 4 (24:17):
I think that game was actually on NFL Network right now,
the one where he caught in the end zone that consciously,
it may have been.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
Like, damn, how do I say, Kyle Rude?

Speaker 1 (24:27):
Jesus, Hey, guys, you're Tony Gonzales on the on the Falcons.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
What do you think he thinks? Kirk Cousins, did it happens?

Speaker 3 (24:34):
It happens, like, yeah.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
The forty nine ers. What do you think about Brent Jones? Anyway?

Speaker 1 (24:41):
Uh, Minnesota fans, I can't imagine anyone being that butt
hurt that they're moving away from the baron Rodgers.

Speaker 4 (24:48):
I know Stalwart and Swan don't want Rogers in Pittsburgh,
so I know that, yes, shot, Yeah, awesome.

Speaker 1 (24:58):
Mark Bavaro was like, you know, I would you know,
makes sense. I'm still waiting for Uncle Bill's response, though,
so stay tuned. I just got to see what he has.
I just got a text from Phil McConkie. He said, please,
it's all good. Yes, I mean, I think the Giants
could scoop him up if he is honest with himself
and he just wants to play ball. The Giants could

(25:22):
pick up two quarterbacks. They would have to. I'm not
saying the Giants if they only have if they only
have Tommy Cutlets, they got room for Rogers at a
reasonable rate and someone else, imagine by default Tommy Cutlets
gets an opportunity, he'll be disgusting. Got an update, guy,
Uncle Bill, Got update Bill? Uncle Bill? My uh, actually
it's my aunt's ex. But he's still part of the fan.

(25:45):
Uncle Bill says, nope. Well we have been and still
draft a QB. He says, yeah, Winston and drafted CB.

Speaker 3 (25:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (25:57):
Speaking of the Giants, I have heard and I believe
there is something to be said about Not that they're
gonna go from bottom of the barrel stankash Giants to
a playoff contender, but it would be interesting, I think,
because the Giants overall were so bad last year that
you know, what does go into the radar how great
Molik Neighbors was, and if he did have a legit quarterback,

(26:22):
how much even better he could be. Like I almost
feel like, if you're a fantasy football player, like a
Dan Byer who who's way into it, Melik Neighbors might
be the steal if you got an Aaron Rodgers, because
that would be what Aaron Rodgers did for Devonte Adams
in Green Bay, where he picks his guy and that's
his guy. That could be Melik neighbors, and while they

(26:43):
won't be great, I could see that being a combo
to make some noise offensively.

Speaker 3 (26:48):
You know, I just started to jump in.

Speaker 4 (26:50):
But your point about that is interesting and I think
on the surface it works. But when you see what
happened with the Jets this past year, that's what was
supposed to happen with Garrett Roilson, and it didn't. And
it didn't happen. So maybe if you're Minnesota, when you're
trying to evaluate the reasons, maybe you look at that
and say, well, wait a second. Here, you had a
young wide receiver there that you thought was a stun

(27:11):
and we thought that this connection was going to be great,
and it didn't. They ended up having to bring in
Devonte Adams. Anyway, maybe that would be a reason why
you wouldn't and maybe that could be something. I mean,
the giants of anybody.

Speaker 1 (27:23):
You thought, oh, Jets, Garrett Wilson, he has Aaron Rodgers.
Now it's gonna take him to the next one, which
put yourself in those cleats for one minute, right, Seriously,
if you're a young player, you have to say all
the right things, like man an opportunity to play with
the legend Yeah, it's a once in a lifetime thing.
It's great, you know. I mean, I can't imagine, you know,
playing with Aaron Rodgers. I used to grow up watching them.

(27:45):
You know, if you were a young player, would you
feel that comfortable playing with a veteran with that much
pressure around you? Or someone younger and as hungry as
you are there's more of a commonality. It's like, all right,
if you needed a new co host, would you want
like an older guy to be your co host or
a guy who's on your level, with the same hunger,

(28:06):
in the same place and same part of life as you.
I know what you're saying, You know what I mean,
Like there's a pressure of like having to play with
this guy or someone else in your age range that
it's probably more comfortable for these young dudes.

Speaker 6 (28:19):
That's interesting because I think cove that with the fans
at least right now. This is almost like the CJ.
Stroud and Jaden Daniels effect, where you'd rather go with
the upstart guy, where you know there's a lot of
ceiling to be reached and have a vet back that
guy up. That's what the Vikings are doing. They say
they're still in the market to sign a vet. But
JJ McCarthy's their guy.

Speaker 2 (28:40):
When there's so much ceiling.

Speaker 1 (28:42):
Like you said, I mean, those are two great examples
of guys that delivered way early on Jaden Daniels and c. J.

Speaker 3 (28:47):
Stroud.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
But if you think you have that in JJ McCarthy,
Cavino's right, justin Jefferson, not.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
Kyle Rudolph, TJ. Howkinson.

Speaker 1 (28:55):
These guys on the offensive side of things in Minnesota
are probably would be more internally excited to be part
of the new JJ McCarthy offense. They would never want
to say that because they have to say it, and
there is some honor and playing with a legend, but
you know what it is. Though, there's also something so
like oddly temporary about the Aaron Rodgers answer, right, there's

(29:18):
something like all right, so all right, all right, if
you're justin Jefferson, no.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
Are you thinking?

Speaker 3 (29:23):
All right?

Speaker 1 (29:23):
So I played with Aaron Rodgers for like a year,
and then where do we go from there? Because it's
it's a hired gun, but a hired gun that you're
not quite sure is really going to take anywhere.

Speaker 5 (29:35):
It's a hired gun that might have like a rusty
uh you know, might not even fire.

Speaker 1 (29:40):
But it's also a hired gun. That's that's like talking
down to you, not in a demeaning way. I mean
it might be condescending, maybe maybe, but that's not even
my point. Meaning like, he's an old veteran. He's with
all these young dudes. They might not be speaking the
same language. A younger guy might not be as comfortable
with that guy. That's what made Tom Brady tom Brady.

(30:02):
He still spoke that young guy language. I'm not sure
Aaron Rodgers is that type of guy to speaking of
wanting to build things together. I know it's a different story.
He's not as young. But as we talk about this,
I see the headline on FS one Cooper Cups saying
he's quote excited to build things with Sam Donald. You know,
there's nothing to be said about wanting to build something together.

(30:23):
And when you had a thirteen win team and Sam
Donald takes a hike and you got JJ McCarthy in
the wings, it you know what, it probably didn't make
sense at the end of the day to bring in
Aaron Rodgers. So I feel like Minnesota made the right move. Hey,
not rooting against Aaron Rodgers, just some thoughts you could
chime into at eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox
or at Covino and Rich at Fox Sports Radio. Time

(30:45):
for an update. Yeah, let's go to Dan Bayern. Shout
outs to Kyle Rudolph, by the way.

Speaker 4 (30:50):
In addition to the Aaron Rodgers news of him not
going to the Minnesota Vikings. At this time, we do
have other NFL stuff to get to, as the NFL
will officially evaluate a proposal from the Packers to Vandy
tush Push. The Lions have proposed a few new rules,
including not having defensive holding or in illegal contact penalty
be an automatic first down for the offense. Detroit is

(31:12):
also asking for a change that would allow playoff teams
to be seated by their record and not by whether
if they won their division. Texans are signing tackle Cam Robinson,
filling the spot left when they traded Laramie Tunzel venteran
safety Jordan Fuller signing with the Atlanta Falcons. Dodgers beat
the Cubs today six to three. LA hit three home runs,
including one from show Hey Otani. Opening around games in

(31:33):
Dayton of the NCAA tournament coming up at six point
forty Battle of sixteen Seeds as Mount Saint Mary's takes
on American winner gets Duke. On Friday, Xavier and Texas
play in a battle of eleven seeds afterwards. Winner will
get Illinois on Friday and Milwaukee. Multiple reports say that
Will Wade will leave McNeice to be the new head
coach at nc State once the Cowboys NCAA tournament run

(31:53):
comes to an end and guys. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman,
amidst the league is reevaluating their future All Star game
festive these following the success of the Four Nations face
off that took place earlier this year. NHL players expected
to be in the Olympics next winter, they say they
still want to do something for an All Stars sort
of deal, even though the pros are expected to play

(32:15):
in the Olympics, but moving forward could see a whole
different format because of how great it was it worked.

Speaker 2 (32:21):
We watched it together. That's how I knew it worked.

Speaker 1 (32:23):
Caravino and I were like, yo, bro, let's watch hockey together.
Is a good guy for decades. The first time we
sat and watch the game together, it was cool. So
thank you, dB dance Man your note about the rule
changes in the NFL. Maybe laugh because it seems like
every team specifically has a rule that applies to them,

(32:43):
Like I want to propose a rule, and they're so specific,
like because something had happened to them, whether it's the
tush push or whatever it is. It's it's just funny
how it's so specific. Now we got more Cavino and Rich,
more Midweek Major, Rodney Pete, Austin Reeve. We have lots
to get to right here on Fox Sports Radio. Now,

(33:06):
guess what I got in my mail today? What'd you
get in the mail today? It was a box for me?
What a shock? A box for me? You get a
delivery and it's enough of the woman in your life,
you're like, wait for me. I was shocked just right
from the start. And then it said Travis Matthew. Travis
Matthew and it was sneakers, man, it was real nice
shoes and I couldn't believe it. And I actually posted

(33:28):
you can see him at Steve Cavino check him out.
Nice green and I needed green perfect. I look right now,
love him. And one of our buddies Justin hit us
up like what are you golf now? And here's the beauty.
I don't golf. Travis Matthew. Not just about golf anymore.
It's about looking good. It's about casual and comfort and
comfortability in the fabrics. I love the fabrics of the

(33:49):
shirts and the pants lightweight.

Speaker 3 (33:51):
Danny G.

Speaker 1 (33:51):

ahead of it man, because it's quality. Danny G likes

All right, welcome back to the show Gram program. Whats
Ubuddy's the professional Gram No amateur Graham here, Cavino and

(34:50):
Rich on Fox Sports Radio worldwide leaders of nonsense every
Wednesday Midweek Major poh you bekaye mother. You know who's
a birth data today? Bruce Willis turned seventy. That seventy seventy.

Speaker 3 (35:04):
Wow, there's a reference to that in the show Paradise.

Speaker 1 (35:09):
There is I love the show Paradise and Danny g
I know it's not on Friday for a weekend hob nobin,
but we were talking about the Lakers on End Off
the Air. Cheesy yet very watchable running point on Netflix.
It's about Genie Buss with Chet Hanks. I think he's

(35:30):
the star of the show is a Hanks. This plays
a really good meat head.

Speaker 2 (35:33):
Well, if you're gonna waste your time, waste it on
the White Lotus. I'm digging.

Speaker 1 (35:37):
It gets better episode four and five. That's when it
really kicks in. You're like, huh, I mean you're sitting
there all confused, like Walton Goggins.

Speaker 2 (35:43):
Huh.

Speaker 1 (35:44):
You can waste your time on you know, Kate Hudson
and Chet Hanks or the White Lotus or on Temptation Islands.

Speaker 2 (35:50):
Which is just trash, but good trash.

Speaker 1 (35:55):

Speaker 1 (36:22):
Can you Believe the Dodgers on their way to one
hundred and sixty two and off? Dude, Keek and Peek,
show Hey, that was a home run?

Speaker 2 (36:31):
By the way, that was Diary. That was a definite
home run.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
If you don't know we're talking about, show Hey hit
the first home run of the twenty twenty five Major
League Baseball season. And for a minute it was debated
whether or not did the fan reach in and grab it.
But it was over the fence. It was it was
a home No, it was a home run. It was
a nice drive by show. Heyl Tani And how about
your boy Rodney Pete. I was just gonna say, stealing

(36:54):
that ball for Max Month see Rodney, And you know what,
at first, I didn't know that was Rodney.

Speaker 2 (36:57):
P I saw that.

Speaker 1 (36:58):
It was a major highlight. I just saw a fan.
And you know what I thought to myself when I
saw it, I'm like, ah, he did nothing wrong there.
It was right at him. He didn't move, he didn't
get in Munsie's way. Munsey gave him a lot of
attitude for no reason, in my opinion.

Speaker 6 (37:10):
And if you don't know really quick, Rich, I was
just gonna explain because a lot of our audience outside
of Southern California. Rodney co hosts the mid day show
with Rogan on AM five to seven y LA Sports.

Speaker 2 (37:22):
Yeah, so the big things they were there.

Speaker 3 (37:24):
They were there for the opener of the crew, the.

Speaker 2 (37:26):
Big Fox Sports radio affiliate. I think it's a major
day show.

Speaker 1 (37:30):
Actually it's not that min it's and no, what a coincidence,
by the way, what content for them? Imagine we went
to a game of Cavino bumped into Max Munsey.

Speaker 3 (37:39):
They've been loving it all day long.

Speaker 6 (37:40):
They've been putting out tweets saying to catch herd round
the world, and of course first they Tim Kates had.

Speaker 3 (37:45):
Him on the air and everything. I've been having a
lot of fun with it. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (37:48):
So if you saw the clip, and most people have,
it was a very viral clip. It was Rodney Pete.
That was Rodney Pete that got in his way, but
he really didn't.

Speaker 2 (37:57):
He didn't get he didn't really.

Speaker 1 (37:58):
Get in his way. And I'm gonna months he acted
like I'm gonna I'm gonna call Max Mounsey.

Speaker 2 (38:03):
You know, he's a Mois s al Lou. Here.

Speaker 1 (38:05):
The reaction from the player determines the reaction from the fans,
and I stand by Steve Bartman would never have gotten
all that crap had Moisi sal Lou just walk back
to left field. It was a mix of two things.
It was Alou's reaction, but it was also the fact
that he looked like the biggest dork.

Speaker 3 (38:23):
He had a.

Speaker 1 (38:23):
Big goofy green turt nerdle, he had a nerdle neck on,
he had his headphones, his glasses. He's like, hey, there's Waldough.
Everyone's looking at him because everybody went for that ball.
The reason he stood out is because he looked like
a goober. That's really it, poor guy that he did
nothing wrong, and again combined with Moisi, saw Lou react

(38:44):
like slamming down his hands like oh damn it. Look
that reaction made everyone say, man, who that kid in
the stands really blew it? If Moises al Lou had
walked back to left field like an unfazed pro.

Speaker 2 (38:56):
You know what the worst part about it too, is like.

Speaker 1 (38:57):
God, good, there it is. It's a TV now, Maximon.
See his frustration in that moment. Look, he missed it regardless,
and it was over the fence. I don't even know
if it would have counted it anyway, but he would
have never had it, just like got.

Speaker 2 (39:08):
Lou would have really never had that ball.

Speaker 1 (39:11):
But Steve Bartman, famous cub fan, that got in the way,
but he didn't.

Speaker 2 (39:19):
He was in the stands.

Speaker 1 (39:21):
He had headphones on, right, you know, he had to
hear the radio commentary of Oh I hate to be
that nerd in the stands, right, that nerd he's in
big troll, the guy with the glasses. Oh man, he
was basically listening. You imagine that that feeling when you
got fifty thousand people there. Everyone's hating you, and you're
hearing it on the radio as it happens.

Speaker 2 (39:43):
I think I need to go now.

Speaker 1 (39:44):
Yeah, that part of the nightmare is really never explored.
Like you know, he was probably listening to the game,
the Proclaimers or something. You know, Bob, that kid's life
will never be the same. Of all the people here
at the game tonight at Wrigley, I would really hate
to be that guy, good guy, the guy with the
green turtleneck and he's listening the whole time.

Speaker 2 (40:05):
What a nightmare that had to be.

Speaker 1 (40:09):
Thanks moyses a loose So you know that being said
Rodney Pete. If you watch that clip again once he
had no shot, he missed it. He clearly missed it.
Anything but if you're gonna go after a ball in
the stands, do it the rightly, right way, like those
guys in the Bronx the rip the ball out of
Mookie Betts's glove, like you're like you're trying to grab
gobbagoula of charkouterie board. That's how you gotta do it.

(40:33):
To think those guys, it's so funny how you could
do the same thing. This happens in relationships, work life anything.
Two people could do the same thing with different reactions.
Steve Bartman goes for a ball because it's in his vicinity.
He has to move, change his life and go into
like witness relocation. Yeah, they tried to like welcome him back,
and he's like, beat it, you ruin my life. These
goons in the Bronx rip a ball of Mooki Bets's

(40:54):
glove and everyone laughs their ass.

Speaker 2 (40:55):
Off, like look at these two guidos legendary.

Speaker 1 (40:58):
It's I mean, and they did this. They did worse
than Bartman, yet they were violent. Those dudes are heroes
in the Bronx.

Speaker 5 (41:04):
They got banned.

Speaker 1 (41:05):
They got banned, but among their friends in the community,
it's like, yo, those guys are clowns.

Speaker 2 (41:09):
It's funny.

Speaker 1 (41:10):
Meanwhile, Steve Bartman, you had to change his name. Probably
poor guy. So that was the story. Props to Rodney Pete,
good hands, he was in the moment, but you're right.

Speaker 3 (41:20):
What a man with a glove though?

Speaker 1 (41:22):
Ah, yes, the story. They making fun of him for
that because they should. Yeah, because against our personal like
if you're over anyone over twelve shouldn't have a glove
at the game, especially a former NFL quarterback.

Speaker 2 (41:33):
Come Rob, get with it. We got more. Covino Rich Next,
