Lucky you because I'm feeling good today. I mean, it's
Friday and we're in for calling on the Herd. I
feel great. Minus all have a pizza I have this week.
Aside from that, I feel fantastic. Cavino, you look like
you had a lot of pizza. Rich I did. I'm
still blooding. It's like the first day. Here's what happened.
I bought a lot of pizza, so it lasted meet

(00:49):
like through the whole week. So I had like pizza
every day this week. That's why I always tell people
if they come over my place is take food with you.
Get this out of my I just say, what do
we can do it? I can't throw it away, kiss,
I'll have to eat it so again. Anyway, I'm glad
the weekends here. Happy to be here. I'm Steve Cavino.
That is Rich Davis. We got music in the House
of the Music Ran. We got Danny g We got

(01:12):
Chocko Cheeks, Sexy Ryan over there and Spotty hanging out.
Thank you guys for hanging with us. Fox Sports Radio Nation.
We try to get you involved at eight seven seven
four The Herd eight seven seven for the Herd, Everything
at Covino and Rich. Now, if you're new to our show,
we're on Monday through Friday two to four out here
on the West, five to seven on the East. We
have a bonus podcast called over promised on Fox Sports

(01:34):
Radios YouTube page. But always a pleasure to be here.
And I hope you had a Golden State Warriors sort
of Thursday night. Yeah, it was a great game. We're
gonna talk about the NBA. We're going to talk about
the NFL. The Draft is a couple weeks away. But
before we get to all that, I gotta say today's
a very special day back on the East Coast. Jan

(01:54):
Soto's first game at City Field is a met barf
really whatever. I can't root at all for that guy.
It's wild. How Cavino feels personally hurt that Wa Soto
left the Yankees. I don't hate the guy, but hold
that note because later on the show, if we have
time because it's action packed, we gotta talk some stocks,

(02:15):
player stocks. In fact, we gotta talk some NFL. We
got to talk about players and entertainers and people you'll
never forgive, and Wan Soto's one of those guys for me.
Doesn't mean I hate the guy, doesn't mean I wish
him harm. Did he break your heart? See here's the thing,

(02:38):
Like people think I'm gonna lose sleep over it, and
every night I'm kicking in screaming like what so no,
why that's that's not it at all. But I won't
forgive him for chasing the bag and leaving the Yankees
with unfinished business. So we'll explain. We'll talk about later
people that you'll never forgive. Well, let's start where everyone
left off. Last night. You were watching some NBA I'm

(02:59):
guessing Lakers Warriors. Whether you tuned in for the whole
game or just the fourth quarter, you got the vibe
of that game. And let me throw the stat out
to start the conversation. And then I know Danny g
our super producer's got some hypotheticals and some thoughts, but
everyone's focusing on Luca, Luca Lucas since he joined the Lakers,
you know, since Anthony Davis went to the Dallas Mavericks

(03:21):
and got hurt. I'm not saying it's under the radar,
but Jimmy Butler immersing himself in Golden State nineteen and
two when him and Steph are playing together twenty and four,
since that trade Golden State, they got some buzz, they
got momentum. And Jimmy Butler, who seems to get better

(03:42):
in high pressure situations, right, he still has a lot
to prove. He has personal unfinished business. He has a
chip on his shoulder from everything that went down this year,
and he's known as playoff Jimmy, so you have to
figure once playoffs hit, he's only going to step up
even more. Where the Golden State Warriors get more dangerous
and Draymond Green is still playing good defense, so they

(04:05):
look pretty solid. Man Steph making Luca look bad yesterday.
Every Lakers fan I know felt the same way because
when I saw Draymond Green after a couple of great
defensive plays in the fourth, when he does a little
growl like ah. He gets all pumped up his face
and again he's trying to show too that he's still
the guy and he still has it. His face is

(04:26):
so punishable, I imagine to Lakers fenced. First of all,
that dude needs to shave his hair. Shave his head,
no play for mister gray, and color that beard. If
you're gonna rock a beard, it looks like old man Winters.
I know, I agree with you. I mean, I don't
know why that's a thing. I don't know why, Especially
in the NBA, which is a young man's game, you

(04:48):
want to show your age and wisdom. I don't get that.
The whole wisdom thing. An amazing advantage when it comes
to hair color. For all the black dudes in the NBA,
you could tie your hair black. If you're a white
dude with a shade of brown, you die your hair
the wrong color. You look like Robert Gulay in the
in the eighties or nineties, a black dude could just

(05:09):
combing in the beer when coming with dud in twenties.
You are lucky. You are lucky. You could. You could
color your hair literally until the day you die. Comano.
You always say you have that advantage being that you're
a Mexican dude. You say you you just used yeah,
but I use the one with the Mexican guy on
the cover of the box just for Votos, just for Votos.

(05:30):
That's not a real thing. It is a real thing.
Should be buy. No. But seriously, I just don't get
that because it just makes him look older, which makes
it more surprising, Like, oh, Draymond's still gone. You know
what he's playing. He's playing young though he is, he's
playing big and they looked good. Now we got to
make it clear. We're out here in Los Angeles and
Danny g r. Producer is a big time Lakers guy.

(05:51):
I lean Lakers. I lean and root for the Lakers.
Been out in LA for fifteen years. I never really
had an NBA team that I embraced. Of course, I
grew up watching the Knicks and the Nets. But oh,
let's be real. Let's be real. Lived in Jersey. Was
a Nets fan and then a girlfriend of his left
him for a guy on the Nets. That'll make you
not like a team any that was. That was kind

(06:14):
of tough. So being out here, right, I mean, imagine,
imagine you're dating a girl that leaves you for a
guy on the team you root for, you might not
like that team as much whatever. Hearing me on the
herd right now, she probably regrets it. What would you
do if your girl left you and you found out
she was sleeping with Aaron Judge? That'd be tough. Yeah,

(06:34):
that had I'd have nightmares about that for sure. Yeah.
Oh god, I was seven mast that's hard to my god,
it's hard to imagine. Yeah, I feel real inferior. That
would be.

Speaker 4 (06:44):
That would be like if your current girl left you
for another radio star right now? Yeah, I guess he
doesn't use a torpedo bat, so he might have a
torpedo bat for something.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Is that a torpedo bat? In you you're a baseball
Why would you say that? Yeah, it would. It would
affect my rooting interest at least throughout his career. But
since you've been out here, you said that the Lakers
are a fun watch. Yeah, so I want to make
it clear that that's the perspective we're coming from, Like
we're not Lakers haters. We're not necessarily fans either, but
I'm rooting, Like, come on, come on, Lakers, let's go.

(07:17):
I want to see Luca the La and Lucas do
their thing. And I'm saying that because I'm watching thinking
the whole time. Sorry DANNYG. Sorry Lakers fans. I'm like,
the Golden State Warriors look like the better team right now.
And I know it's just one game, and I don't
want to be prisoner of the moment like we always say,
but the Golden State Warriors just look like they were
in the zone, dominating the whole game until the very end.

(07:41):
The Lakers stepped up a little bit, and I think
they're only going to get better from here. Well, unless
you're a team that dominates from start to finish all year,
you end up being a team in the NFL that,
you know, wins fourteen games plus and you just dominate
a baseball team that wins a hondo plus. Music and
I would talking while we were walking to get coffee

(08:01):
before the show, and we were saying how in every
sport it's that team that enters the playoffs hot. It
doesn't matter if they're ten and seven in the NFL,
doesn't matter if they're the wildcard in baseball that has
eighty eight wins, that is the dangerous team. I don't
care if the Golden State Warriors have won ten less

(08:22):
games than some of their NBA, you know, championship seasons.
Golden State right now, you heard the stats when Steph
and Jimmy Butler played together nineteen and two. That team
is scary, scary, and that was an away game for them,
that was in LA that matters. I'm like, this is
the statement game. That's why we were all tuned in.

(08:43):
It was a TNT game. We're watching statement game. Let's
see what the Lakers got, Let's see where they stand.
And I'm thinking, man, I thought the Lakers. That was
the feeling. I thought the Lakers are better than this. Danny,
what's the assessment as far as like, was it an
off night for Luke?

Speaker 4 (09:00):
Seems yeah, definitely an off night shooting for Luca, But
then you saw what he was able to do to
contribute to the team with those slick passes, and he
was the one that helped lead the charge to get
him to one oh five to one hundred where it
looked like they might make a comeback. Austin Reeves hitting
those threes in clutch time, but overall, the Lakers defense

(09:21):
was off. Just to start the week against the Rockets,
till the end. The second seed Rockets lost to the
Lakers to start the week. The Lakers were shooting better
in that game, their defense was on point. Last night,
they did not lock down on defense until towards the
end of the game.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
But that you also got to capitalize on big moments.
Lebron had a nice steal at the end of the
game and the Golden State Warriors got it back. Wasted moment,
moment that could have been their chance. And again that's
what big teams do, they capitalize on those moments. However,
Lebron James again thirty three points, that's a positive. You
had Austin Reeves playing big hitting shots at the end

(09:59):
with thirty one point. They were positives and they were battling.
But to me, the Golden State Warriors looked like they
had more momentum, more fire, and more juice. And again
as the season gets late and we hit the playoffs,
Jimmy Butler steps up even more. They're looking a little more,
a little more scary to me. Well, the Western Conference,
i think it's safe to say, is tighter than a

(10:20):
pair of skinny jeans in the twenty tens. I mean
tighter than your skinny jeans in the twenty tens, Well,
will you use students wear a ballerina pants? You wearing
carpenter jeans. One of the carpenters, Davis's pants were so
tight they had like stirrups on the bottom, you know
what I mean, Like he had to put his feet
through them. So he was wearing veterina pair. You look
at the Western Conference right now, the three seed through
the eight seed are within two and a half games

(10:42):
of each other. That's insane. I mean, you could say
once again and it doesn't matter, but I'm sure some
teams want that home court advantage. Some teams don't want
to have to play in a playing game. So again,
the Nuggets, Lakers, Golden State, Memphis, Minnesota, and the Clippers
all within two and a half games of each other.
That's it. It's gonna come down to the final week

(11:03):
and you know, you start thinking about matchups and that
could be that could be a big determining factor. And
health is a huge factor here too. And that's the
other conversation today. You know people were watching that game,
watching it closely. Does one game tell the whole story? No,
you'd have to play out a whole series, right, And
I would imagine and that's why we're so excited to

(11:25):
talk about it. You could imagine that it would be
a battle if it was a full on series back
and forth. But the talk today is would the Lakers
have been better with a healthy Ad? And I would
say no. Lucas still the guy you make that move
every day of the week. He just had an off game.
And it's as simple as that. You just don't want

(11:46):
to have off games when the world is watching and
when it matters, because that was a statement game, and
you're given the Golden State Warriors extra confidence and you're
adding to the momentum they already have. All right now,
Danny G before the show, you said, why, well, when
you guys wrap your little recap, I got some NBA hypotheticals.
What you got? All right?

Speaker 4 (12:05):
So Western Conference options for you guys, choose one? Go
to Covino, you Rich and Ryan Music? Okay, all right? One,
two or three. We'll start with you Covino, all right.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
One.

Speaker 4 (12:17):
The OKC thunder who may win seventy games this season,
power their way to the NBA Finals despite the fact
that they are a young team whose average age is
just under twenty six second option. The Golden State Warriors,
who of course added Jimmy playoffs at the right time,
knock down endless threes with Stephan company, still have a
top defender in Dreymond and they fight their way to

(12:39):
the NBA Finals. Or three, the Lakers, who now have
a mostly healthy Lebron and Luca put it all together,
run in gun with Austin Reeves nailing threes, and JJ
Reddick has them lock down their defense all the way
to the NBA Finals. Which one of those three is
most likely?

Speaker 3 (12:55):
I'll be prisoner of the moment right now and say,
with playoff Jimmy, like we're not seeing the best of
this guy, is gonna be the Golden State Warriors for me?
Oklahoma City Thunder too young, too inexperience for that moment.
I think they're hot right now. Come playoffs, gonna be
different games better than anyone else. Like you said, Danny,
they're gonna end up with seventy went sixty four and twelve.

(13:15):
They're fifteen games better than three. I'm going with the
Golden State Warriors based on what I saw yesterday and
based on the potential something ironic cove.

Speaker 4 (13:23):
You know, the last team or the only team to
be that young and win the NBA Finals the twenty
fourteen to fifteen Warriors.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
So the team you just picked.

Speaker 4 (13:33):
Wow, all right, let's go with you, Rich, Thunder, Warriors
or Lakers.

Speaker 5 (13:38):
Oh.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
Let me let it be known that I'm the top
of guy that's way more excited about Happy Gilmore two
than some Academy Award winning film. I like entertainment. I'm
not the guy that cares about like, how about that
Naked Gun trailer? Man? See like, I'm excited about the
Naked Gun trailer debuted yesterday. Looks great, Yo, big sexy Ryn.
You just like huffed Liam Neeson. Yeah, no, drubbing Jr. No,

(14:04):
that's a Will Faral role. Not not for Liam Neeson.
The trailer. Yeah, unfortunately, I think he could do it.
He's gonna find you and kill you. Well as opinion
about black people, so maybe who knows. He's a special
set of comedy. So we shall see again. I'm on
the type of guy that I just I love entertainment.

(14:25):
Don't show me this Academy Award winning movie boring. And
I feel that way about Oklahoma City because I'm the guy,
call me, call me basic Rich, I do all the time.
Act I'm a basic Rich because I way rather see
Golden State or the Lakers. I think with you, I
think entertainment value. Yes, it's not just me, the NBA,

(14:48):
the league, ratings, networks. Everyone wants this to come down
to Golden State, the Lakers, even the Joker. That's even
more exciting. I think it sounds like you're racist against
small markets. I am. If Oklahoma City goes all the way,
it may be the lowest rated NBA finals of all time.
I think I hate agreeing with Rich. I think he's
absolutely right. I think you know again.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
Call me you watched SGA and Homegren and those guys
play this year. I don't think you guys have watched
it thunder games.

Speaker 3 (15:16):
You know what. I will say, I've not watched enough
of them, but I just know what sparks my interest.

Speaker 4 (15:22):
Call me Basic and Cavino, your boy Caruso is on
the thunder No, I watched him.

Speaker 3 (15:27):
I saw, you know, I saw him the other night
looking good. People are saying that SGA has like, dare
I say this, like jordan esque vibes, like like there's
moments where he has a similarities. But to me, Lakers
like just just purely for the entertainment, Like, Yo, could

(15:48):
Lebron win one more? Luca couldn't get the job done
in Dallas? Did they have the gas? And you know,
by the way, JJ Redick wasn't ready to be a coach,
right And now all of a sudden, oh, he's just
Lebron's podcast partner in a blowhard on ESPN. Now the
guy could be coaching a team to the NBA Finals.
I think the Lakers is the great story in Golden State.
I think OKC is fifteen games better than anyone else.

(16:11):
Yet I don't care. And it's amazing we're still talking
about those two teams. You know, after all these years,
we know what it's like to be again. There's so
many more runs, right, Like remember when we were watching
the NFL and you're like, how many more times are
we gonna get Brady Manning. There's only so many times
we could get these two guys, Steph and Lebron. And

(16:31):
now we add in Jimmy Butler and Luca. This is
you know, aging shipperstars. But that's what the storyline more exciting.
Almost feel like you could get SGA for the next decade.
You added a good cast of character, so still has
our interest. When it comes to the gas. You have
to give the Lakers credit last night because they actually
stepped up toward the end of the game and scored

(16:52):
more than the Golden State Warriors in the fourth quarter.
You know, I thought they were gonna trail off. They
actually had a chance. They actually came back, So that's surprise.
They still have the gast. Lebron still the guy, and
again he still had a big steal that could have
put the Lakers right there in it. So again, if
you missed it, they lost. Golden State Warriors win one,
twenty three one sixteen. Music.

Speaker 4 (17:14):
Out of those three options, music, which one's most likely
to happen?

Speaker 5 (17:17):
So my heart and my head pull me in two
different directions here. As a lifelong La guy, I'm obviously
wanting the Lakers to make the run, but I am
going to be the one to say that it's going
to be the Oklahoma City thunder. Okay, Yes, there's there's
so much doubt because we haven't seen it, and we
have so much built in equity into seeing Lebron and

(17:40):
Steph do it in the past. We just think that
it's a given that inevitably it's going to be one
of them. But not only are the Thunder a good team,
they're like historically great by almost every statistical measure. It
just makes you look back on it at the end
of the season or a couple of years from now,
where we're gonna go. Man, it seems weird that we

(18:02):
even doubted the fact that the Thunder were not going
to be the team coming out of the West when
they very clearly were the best team in the league
all season.

Speaker 3 (18:10):
Yeah, you know, it's again I'll make the analogy that
you know, I in the bright lights do matter though
in sports in some cases, young players, young fighters, young anybody. Yeah,
but in some cases I think we all are a
little basic where it's like, well, if unless you're a
diehard Okay se fan, I think the average person will
be like, yeah, you would probably be more fun to
watch Steph Curry, you know, knocking down trees one last

(18:33):
time or Lebron you know. It's it's sort of like
when people hate on people that like mainstream music or
mainstream movies and like, oh, I know this indie band,
I don't really care about your indie band. That's how
I feel about like, small market basketball teams. Like, yeah,
you go go to the you know, small club and
watch your band. I'll go to so Fine and watch
you know, here's here's a yellow swift. Here's another com

(18:54):
for you.

Speaker 5 (18:55):
So golf right, Masters coming up in a week, going
into every tournament. Now, obviously he had a super lay
April Frews joke about trying to make a comeback. But
we know Tiger Woods isn't playing right, just in a
big picture sense. Every year at the Masters, we all
want Tiger Woods perfect to be there on Sunday to win.
You still believe that's where we want it to be.

(19:17):
But in our heads we're gonna be like, of course
it's gonna be Scotty Shuffler, he's.

Speaker 3 (19:20):
So much better. So yeah, that Tiger Woods.

Speaker 5 (19:24):
Right here, and now that at the end of the tournament,
you're like, man, why did I think that Tiger was
going to make another run? I clearly should have gone
with someone like Scottie Shuffler, who's much better.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
Right now, dude, you're so right, great analogy. Hey, listen
your thoughts eight seven seven The Herd if you want
to chime in, or at cobene on rich and as
we fill in for a buddy the Great Colin Cowherd.
We're gonna talk about forgiveness in sports. Also to look
at your four to one kre portfolio today? Trust so
being at the markets in the pooper, we're gonna talk

(19:57):
about players that we're got on the cheap. What's worse
looking at the market or looking at like your ex
with her new guy. Hey, I got photos of your
ax with her new guy. You want to see them?
I may rather look at my portfolio. But we're gonna
talk about players that are on contracts that you feel
are great buys because a lot of people say now
might be the time to buy. We'll get to all
that next right here. Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and noone Eastern non am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
FS one and the iHeartRadio app Good Day.

Speaker 3 (20:29):
I said, good Day, Gonna make it a good day,
Great Day with Cavino and Rich you know the ceeing
our show in for Colin on the Herd, giving away
prizes next hour and again you're invited to our party
live broadcast party June twentieth through to twenty second in Vegas.
So just book your flights details to come, but we're
gonna be out there celebrating and we're happy to be

(20:52):
here on the Herd. I'm Steve Cavino, that is Rich.
We got dn eg producing on the phones A seven
seven of the Herd. That's eight seven seven four eight
four thirty four thirty seven. We got big sexy Ryan,
we got Ryan music, we got spot on the videos
at Covino and Rich before we get to the headline news. Yeah,
and forgiveness in the NBA, in the NFL, I got

(21:14):
three Rando questions for you. You cool with that, I guess,
And they're all over the place because add it is
at its finest with me. Can I say one last
thing though?

Speaker 6 (21:24):
Sure?

Speaker 3 (21:24):
When it comes to spytech and his son making the
decisions for the Raiders, yes, ten year old nose picking son.
I was having an epiphany. It was in the hallway
thinking and I was like, you know what, it sounds ridiculous,
but it's not that ridiculous because we all do that
sort of thing on a lower and lesser level. Like

(21:46):
how many people listening bought a car because their kid
liked it, or got an apartment or bought a house
because their kid was like yeah, this is the one.
It's great. I really like it, and at the end
of the day, it helped you make the decision, but
you had the final decision. So with Spytech, yeah, his
kid is pointing him in a direction. With Ashton Genty,

(22:08):
but he's still making the final decision. So it sounds silly,
but it's not. That doesn't sound that silly because when
my wife and I were looking for a house, this
is a true story, our kids were very little and
when we walked in the house, we looked at the
kids to be like, y'all like yeah, and they're like, yeah,
we love it. And they're like, well they love it,

(22:29):
you haven't made the decision. If your kid's eyes light up,
that's that's the story right there. That's your answer. It's
the same thing on a much bigger level with the Raiders,
but he's a superstar player. You're probably going to get
superstar results again. Five nine, two fifteen Ashton Genty of
Boise State. Now that was my thought. You have Rando

(22:53):
question three Rando ques and then we're going to talk forgiveness.
All right. The Yankees are currently what foign too? Yeah,
Mets are currently what three and three? So right now,
you have a one game lead over me, meaning I'm
a Mets fan, Coveno is a Yankees fan. In the
beginning of the season, we made a bet thousand dollars
whose ever team had a better record. Do you want

(23:15):
to up the ante at all? Oh, that's a good one,
meaning I don't want to. I'm not gonna say, like
another couple of thousand. How about this bet before Garrett
Cole went down? Excuse I'm giving you a You have
a one game lead right now, five games into the season,
six games in, I'm still confident in the Yankees. So
if I were to say, yeah, thousand dollars bet and

(23:36):
then an additional hundred for each game that they're better,
So if the Mets are, If the Mets are five
games better and they win, there that's fifteen. If you're
looking for the radio effect of like let's go, I'm
looking for you down saying the Yankees great, I'm not
backing down. But what I do want is like, let
me think about it for a minute, like you're not
gonna get to yeah, all right, all the all the

(23:57):
music during the break, how much was you know talking
fact about how great the Yankees are? And some Sodo
made a mistake in the met stink.

Speaker 5 (24:05):
There was, yeah, some very heated discussions about the superiority
of the Yankees over the mass the les.

Speaker 3 (24:11):
Take the last sip of your colbroke ahead, let's hear it,
less sip your co brew. One hundred bucks for each
additional game. I gotta think about it. You're not gonna
get that handshake right now. Okay, I about this. When
the Dodgers repeat, you both give me a thousand?

Speaker 2 (24:23):
Do you know what?

Speaker 3 (24:25):
That's the easy money for you. But the goal is
the Dodgers win one hundred and twenty games, and much
like every other team in every other major sport, the
best record. This is a fun fact music. I'm sure
Colin has pointed this out. The Bruins, the Patriots, the Mariners,
and who'ld I miss?

Speaker 1 (24:44):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (24:44):
The Warriors? Warriors? Yeah, yeah, all four best records. Those
teams all went on to lose in the playoffs. So
best records doesn't mean best team. I'll just have the
best record. I'm hoping the Dodgers go one hundred and
twenty and forty two and then losing the NLDS. Anyway,
that's question one. So can you no backs down, No, no, no, no,
but hold on, let me get this right before we

(25:05):
move on and not have to drag it out. You said,
let's up the ante. Do you want to make it
two thousand dollars a hand or just another one hundred
dollars for every game thousand dollars bet and then one
hundred dollars for each game in the fest. So if
the Yankees have an eight game better record than the Mets, right,
that's eighteen hundred. Okay, So all right, let me think
about it, okay. Question number two, If you coach kids

(25:26):
sports like I do. I'm coaching my daughter's eight U
softball and my son's pony ball t ball? Are you
really coaching?

Speaker 7 (25:32):
Now?

Speaker 3 (25:32):
I heard your daughter's pulling all the strings? Here I
heard your daughter she made a lot of No. Here's
a question. Is this because remember when you were kid
playing sports? Because we all did. Your daughter said the draft,
little Becky McMillan. So when you were a kid, was
there any better time than playing sports? Right? Not? Not?
Nothing else compares to Pop Warner, football, pal basketball, little

(25:54):
league pony ball? Is it fair as a coach for
me to back kids later in the lineup that show
up late because it's on their parents. But if I'm saying,
all right, kids show up a half hour an hour
before the game for warm ups. If you know a
little Johnny's good, but he's showing up right before the
game and his dad's all clutsy, like all sorer he's here,

(26:14):
and I'm like, yeah, I put him at the bottom
of the lineup. Do you make your lineup based on
the kids that are there, or if the kids' parents
are flaky, like the kid misses practices but they're good.
I wouldn't take out the kid just because his parents suck,
I take them out. But I'm saying, if I'm making
the lineup, but it's fifteen minutes before game time, and

(26:36):
you know, little Becky Johnson's not there because her mom's
like flustered, and I'm making the lineup, she might if
she's one of our best players. Do I say, here,
ten minutes before the game, you're batting last. I'd make
the adjustment. Well, at this stage of the game, your
your goal isn't necessarily to win because they're so little,
just to teach lessons, maybe I don't know, teach a lesson,

(26:57):
And yeah, I would say that you're teaching namentals, you're
teaching lessons. That's really the stage you're at right now.
So do it while you can, because next year, I
think you're playing to win. Yeah, and the last question.
We lost Val Kilmer this week. If you would to
recommend Let's Go Around the Room music, Big Sexy, Ryan,
Danny g Spotty even chime in if you want, if

(27:18):
you would to recommend one Val Kilmer movie for everyone
to watch this weekend to honor the late great actor.
Sixty five past away, what's your go to Val Kilmer
movie music? Man, I'm torn between two, but I'm gonna
what do you The first one that came to mind
was Tombstone, but he is also very very close. I'll

(27:41):
go with Tombstone if I gotta choose one. It's wild.
Everybody has a favorite. That's what we've learned and noticed
as we honor him this week. Everyone has a different
go to. When you say Tombstone, I think of pizza
and the movie. So yeah, yeah, that sounds like a
good plan for the weekend because I haven't had enough
pizza of this week. I know. No, Tombstone is the

(28:02):
one I would like to see because it's been a minute,
and it's the most classic, even though there's so many
great options, Like I've seen Doors. I always say he's
more Jim Morrison than Jim Morrison in that movie. But
I've seen it so many times. Tombstone would be my
go to this weekend, Danny g Big Sexy Ryan. What
you guys got, I'll go first chair, since Tombstone was
already taken. How about one from the late eighties? Burn

(28:25):
this VHS tape out? It was in our collection, Willow.
Think of Val Kilmer as an action star in that movie.
Sexy Ryan. Two? Actually, Top Secrets and Real Genius, good one. There,
these are good ones. I'm gonna go way recent just
because the guy to the to the right of me

(28:46):
that think says Yankees are going to win one hundred
games this year. Steve Cavino has never seen Top Gun Maverick,
And that's true. Yes, and I'm yeah to it. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (28:58):
And on our show yesterday afternoon and to the evening,
Rich you were pestering him to do that, which is
a mistake.

Speaker 3 (29:04):
Well, yeah, can you that if you tell him to
do something, he won't do it. I don't know if
it's like a trait that I inherited from my dad,
or like a Mexican thing my mom's Mexican, because they
often say that racist. The more you pressure Canelo Alvarez
to do something, not comparing myself to the great Canelo,
but I am. The more you pressure him to fight
like a David Benavidez, the more he's like.

Speaker 8 (29:26):
Now, I won't. Now, I won't do it. You tell
me to do it, I won't do it. I don't
need to do anything. I'm Canelo. The more people pressure
me to do things, the less I'm inclined to watch.
I have to feel like it's my own choice. And
the more he pushes this movie on me, the more
I'm like no.

Speaker 3 (29:42):
Because here's the thing, it's not I'm gonna I'm gonna
watch Tombstone and the White Lotus finale. It's not. It's
not a big role for Val Kilmer, but I was.
I was telling him that I wasn't even a big
Top Gun fan as a kid. I want to put
Top Gun as one of my favorite eighties movies. Thing
and I watched original recently. I used to. I watched

(30:02):
it when I was a kid. I used to play
the video game for Nintendo Top Gun. I watched it recently.
I was never that neat for speed Kid. I did
not like the original. I hated it in fact, so
like for me, you want to watch the new one.

Speaker 4 (30:16):
The sequels an actually is actually a better Agreed, wouldn't
you agree?

Speaker 3 (30:20):
Agreed? I told Covin, I go, dude, we're talking the
same language. Back to the Future, Goonies, Indiana Jones, Karate Kid.
We all love the same things. Top Gun was not
in my top list, but the second one. You got
a nice big TV, the Sono surround sound. It's well,
if there's a Ninti Weekend and honor it's this weekend.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays

the time to discuss. And the fact that we've been

I mean that says something right. So check us out.

not gonna watch Tom Gunn and the more you pressure me,

(31:43):
the less likely I'm to do it. Maverick, that is Maverick,
and you must be a delight to date. Thanks your
girlfriend lucky as a woman other I think so, Covino
and Rich, Fox Sports Radio. Seeing our show in for
Colin on the Herd, Thank you, thanks for hanging out
with us, Thanks for all your feedback. Again, wrapping up
who you Won't forgive Len from Idaho said, OJ has

(32:07):
to be the number answer, number one answer on the board.
People shall never forgive. Well, if you saw the Naked
Gun trailer, they allude to that because they Leslie Nielsen,
the Lake Great Leslie Nielson, his son Frank Drubbin Junior,
that's who Liam Neeson plays. And they go to ed
Ed Sun. His partner is played by Stingray from Cobra Kai.

(32:30):
What's his name? Paul Walter Houser, Paul Walter Rouser who's
also playing Chris Farley in the biopic, So that dude's everywhere.
And then they go to OJ and there's a young
black guy and he looks at the cam like not
like I don't want to claim to be Oj Norberg.
So nobody forgiving man. So OJ is a great answer.
Thank you, Len, Thank you. Everybody. Hit us up at

(32:50):
Covino and Rich Now later this hour Weekend hobnobbing. What
you need to watch in the world of sports and entertainment.
We do it every Friday, but right now we're giving
away prizes. Is game time, Let's go.

Speaker 2 (33:02):
Sports media and athletes are quoted a lot for me stars.
Here comes the hot take quote, Andy Wei should step down.

Speaker 3 (33:11):
His head coach. This is not a one game we
asked him, because they.

Speaker 2 (33:14):
Lost in this game. You guess the talking head.

Speaker 3 (33:17):
You can quote me on that.

Speaker 4 (33:19):
Quote me, all right, Happy Friday, here we go, game time.
You need to tell me which blabbermouth said it. Well,
let's meet the contestants. The man who was once suspended
for making a torpedo bat in wood shop, Steve Covino.

Speaker 3 (33:35):
Ahead of the trends, ahead of the trends.

Speaker 4 (33:37):
To his left, the broadcaster who proudly stated that he
does not waste time on games where his team is
being blown out.

Speaker 3 (33:44):
Rich Davis waste the money did down by more than
a grand slam if the team can't come back with
a grand Slam. And it's past the seventh inning, I'm
checking out.

Speaker 4 (33:53):
And the man who is the goat of goat yoga,
spotty boy, let's do this.

Speaker 3 (34:00):
You know you just be guess you like yoga. Doesn't
mean you need to wear yoga pants, you know that right?
And then over there the herd producer. But this guy
once spent two full days mounting one flat screen Ryan music. Hey,
that's true? Is that true? Yeah? Two days? It's music.
This is a complete reflection of our show. You told
me that story last time we hung out. I really

(34:22):
just doesn't listen. I didn't know.

Speaker 5 (34:25):
He just doesn't. How many days does it take a
youn know to remember my name?

Speaker 3 (34:28):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (34:29):
And we're gonna we're gonna go to the studio lines
right now to see who is in the running for
a stainless steel Swiggy, Let's go to Florida.

Speaker 3 (34:38):
Okalla, Florida? What up? Tom? Tommy?

Speaker 4 (34:42):
Tommy, and Tom told me off the air that he's
a huge Gators and Falcons fan.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
Well, good luck to your Gators this weekend Final four action. Brother.

Speaker 2 (34:51):
Yeah, you nervous, always nervous because you know I'm I'm
a lovable loser, so I'm.

Speaker 3 (34:58):
Always nervous when my teams play. All right, Remember I
didn't give up a twenty eight to three lead in
the Super Bowl.

Speaker 4 (35:04):
Yeah, Yeah, that's terrible. Yeah Falcons, and you're here at
yeah Final four tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
Can't wait?

Speaker 4 (35:09):
Rules for quote me here, The first contestant with two
correct answers is the champ. If there's a tie of
two overtime quotes, ready to go, your name is your buzzer.
But you do have to wait until all three possible
answers are read. If there's two wrong answers in a row,
we move on to the next quote. Are you ready,
let's go?

Speaker 3 (35:25):
Here we go. Here's the first quote.

Speaker 4 (35:28):
This is one thing I think people will hold against
Jokis because you know, when we start talking about the
best of the best, we got a nitpick. Djokis didn't
have to go up against Alonzo Morning, David Robinson, Hakima,
elaijah On, Patrick Ewing to kem Ba Matumbo, Tim Duncan,
Night In, Night Out. I'm going up against the best
of the best of the best. Bigs who said it?

(35:49):
Quote me me he Chris Broussard, b Kelvin Washington or
c Rob Parker, Tom Tom Kelvin Washington. Yes, her r
Tom on the board immediately And here's what that sounded
like on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 7 (36:09):
This is one thing people I think will hold against
Jokics because you know, when we start talking about the
best of the best, we got a nitpick. Jokic didn't
have to go up against Alonzo morning Uh, David Robinson,
a keem Elijah Wan, Patrick Ewing to Kembe Matumbo, all
of the Tim Duncan, Night and Night Out, I'm going
up against the best of the best of the best biggs.

Speaker 3 (36:30):
You know, since there was so much back and forth
about him and Shack this week, I thought it was
a shock quote. I thought it was not gonna be
Calvin because it sounded like something like an old head
wit sad. I thought it was Ron Parker.

Speaker 4 (36:43):
Talking about the day nicely done by Tom.

Speaker 3 (36:46):
You had to go against the other big man. We
go to round two. Here's the quote.

Speaker 4 (36:52):
The New Orleans Pelicans thought they were gonna be making
a bust of Zion Williamson for the pro Bouncy Ball
Hall of Fame. Instead, he's a different kind of bust,
the kind you don't want to have. And by any measurement,
Zion Williamson is an absolute failure. Quote me who me?
Was that a Ben Maller, b Colin Cowherd or C.

(37:15):
Jason Smith, oh Man Tom Tom Tom trying to go
for the sweep?

Speaker 3 (37:22):
Here it sounds like something Ben Maller would say, do
just Tom sleeps the board.

Speaker 4 (37:31):
Damn, this is what Ben Maller sounded like when he
was bloviating.

Speaker 6 (37:35):
The New Orleans Pelicans thought they were going to be
making a bust of Zion Williamson for the pro Bouncy
Ball Hall of Fame. Instead, he's a different kind of
a bust, the kind that you don't want to have.
And by any measurement, Zion Williamson is an absolute failure.

Speaker 4 (37:54):
Hey, Tom william So Tom already gets a swiggy for fun.

Speaker 3 (37:57):
Let's do the third one. Put the work in here.
By the way, I always love the promos for Ben Maller.
Who's the overnight guy. It says Ben Mahler, He's the
big dog with the big bite. Do you think he
loves that or laughs at that? Ben Mallard does? Ben
Maller thinks, what if I said called Cavino, He's the
big dog with the big bite. I love it.

Speaker 6 (38:17):
Now.

Speaker 4 (38:17):
If Tom whoops you guys on the third one, I'll
throw in sweat. I'll throw in some coozies in his
prize power, all right, some seeing our coozies.

Speaker 3 (38:24):
Here we go the third quote.

Speaker 4 (38:26):
Like, at some point you go, you're twenty five, you know,
not nineteen twenty twenty one. Not that that's an excuse
for you to show a gun on social media, but
you're twenty five. You've got so much ahead of you.
I know, it's just a gesture, But I mean, really, like,
isn't there another way to get back at Buddy Healed?
Like scoring dunking? Quote me, oh me? Was that a

(38:49):
Doug gottlieb B Dan Patrick or C. Kendrick Perkins?

Speaker 3 (38:53):
Music? Oh? Music, music? It on?

Speaker 9 (38:56):
That?

Speaker 5 (38:57):
Couldn't let Tom just put us on a shame like that?
Come on, I at least gotta put up a fight.

Speaker 3 (39:01):
Let's do it. Let's go be Dan Patrick. Yes, at
least we.

Speaker 4 (39:06):
Can say our hosts didn't get swept by the way,
this is what DP sounded like doing that.

Speaker 3 (39:11):
Like at some point you go, you're twenty five.

Speaker 9 (39:15):
You know you're not nineteen twenty twenty one, Not that
that's an excuse for you to be able to show
a gun on.

Speaker 3 (39:22):
Social media, but you're twenty five.

Speaker 9 (39:24):
You've got so much ahead of you, and I know
it's just a gesture, but I mean, really, isn't there
another way to get back at Buddy Healed? Like scoring dunking?

Speaker 4 (39:37):
There we go and congratulations, Tom will be mailing out
a shiny seeing our stain.

Speaker 3 (39:41):
That's steel Swiggy to you there in Florida. Listen to
too much sports talk radio, as you say, you better
be listening to us in the afternoon. Brother, Thank you man,
and good luck to you Florida this weekend. Hope you
guys pull that out, appreciate that. What do you think,
by the way about that, are you? I'm pretty sure
col has the take of all the number one seeds.

(40:02):
That's how it should be. Other people are like just
lack of excitement. No Cinderella this year, no big upsets.
But do we Is it better when the teams that
are there deserve to be there. Yeah, there's a reason
we're talking about baseball the way we're talking about it,
because the Yankees and the Dodgers playing the World Series
last year. You need the big teams to step up
like that. Have you thought more about our bet? You're

(40:22):
taking it? Yeah, I'll take it. Oh, I'm comment that
the Yankees are gonna have a better record anyway. She
called karma because Soto's a bum. That's all that's right.
That's gone. So the bet is and we're saying it
on the Herd tape. Yeah, quote us, it's one thousand

(40:43):
dollars whoever has the best record. Rich is rooting for
his Mets and rooting for my Yankees. Thousand dollars handshake,
gentlemen's bet, but one hundred dollars for every win, every
other win on top of that. Yeah, So let's say
the Mets win ninety six games and the Yankees win.
That's six hundred in addition to the thousand. Fair enough.

(41:03):
So when the Mets are ninety eight wins and the
Yankees have eighty eight wins, that's an extra thousand.

Speaker 4 (41:07):
Yeah, all right, So when the Dodgers repeat, you'll both
pay me three thousand.

Speaker 3 (41:12):
Hey, you know what, it's likely to happen. They haven't
lost the game yet, but I gotta take that bet.
I gotta do it here on the herd. Gotta put
your money where your mouth is. So let's go, and
let's go Yankees. Let's do it not
