Chiefs play tonight, Game three of the World Series on
Fox tonight.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
This is The Herd.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Wherever you may be and however you may be listening,
Thanks for making us part of your day. Nice job
graphics and set. Halloween is Friday night the Cowherd Grotto.
We'll be serving up fresh produce to all the children
in the neighborhood. Well maybe some M and ms today,
(00:53):
All right, j Mac, You know, right and wrong.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Is a staple on this show.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
Indeed, and sometimes, unlike Yoshi, I surrender a meatball and
it gets hit out of the stadium.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
So here we go to Monday. Colin right, Colin wrong?
Where Colin was right?
Speaker 1 (01:10):
I told you I told you earlier this year, and
I told you last year. AJ Brown, there's drama, Jalen Hurtz,
head down grinder, You're not going to deal with any
of it. They had their best offensive game by a
long shot without aj Brown. Maybe it's coincidental, or maybe
the only thing that gets in the way of a
(01:33):
great locker.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Room is drama.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
And there's a little bit of drama, it gets people sidetracked.
But the Eagles I watched yesterday looked like the Eagles
that got to a super Bowl last year.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Where Colin was raw.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Yeah, I kicked Buffalo out of the hurt hierarchy.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
My bad.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
They're still good. What was remarkable is that Josh Allen
only at nineteen pass attempts. They looked like the real deal.
You know, what do you need to say when Josh
is feeling it. I don't think Caroline is as terrible
as everybody wants to say. I think Caroline is okay.
But gotta be honest. That was impressive where Colin was right.
(02:14):
Mike Vrabel and New England first play six and two.
This will mark the fourth straight year that my double
their win total pick will come to fruition.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
They're still in the rebuild.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
They still need to meet at consistent pass rusher. Another
perimeter weapon. But they're well coached. And Drake may Man
does that look good just the eye test, accurate size,
but he moves, knows when to slide.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Yeah, we were right on that one where Colin was raw.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
I thought Brian Kelly would work at LSU. I thought
it was a weird fit. That whole you know, Southern
Twain thing he had I thought was weird. But I
mean the guy won everywhere ed oors on one of
Natty at LSU, and Brian is a good coach pre LSU.
He won big at three different programs. Smart guy. But
you know what, it just goes to show that fit matters.
(03:12):
And this was always I think you knew this.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
It was a weird fit where Colin was right.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Said it last year when the Indianapolis local media was saying,
you gotta fire Chris Ballard the GM, and I'm like,
are you guys crazy? If you watch the games, they're
bad at quarterback, they're good everywhere else. They're all lines good, Taylor,
Pierce Pittman. I mean, they could use another pass rusher.
(03:38):
They're probably one cornerback shy, but the whole NFL could
use another cornerback. This is a well constructed team that
jet the sky was never falling. In this league, if
you don't have quarterback right, it makes everybody else look incompetent.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
The GM and the coach are excellent.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
They just needed a trigger man, and I would be
shocked if they don't sign Daniel Jones to an extension.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
Where Colin was wrong.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
The Celtics are winless without Jason Tatum, and Jalen Brown's
even playing well. Listen, the last several years, the point
differential didn't change that much. In fact, the offense was
better when he didn't play. Now, I didn't think the
team was better, but they've been fine without Jason Tatum
for several years. Right now, their offense thirtieth in the NBA,
dead last. So I mean, listen, we know he's a
(04:30):
good player, good kid. In the short term, they were
fine without Jason Tatum. In the long term, it is
ugly because Jalen Brown's playing well.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Jaylen Brown always plays well.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
Where Colin was right, Colorado got baked again fifty three
to seven, lost to Utah down forty three to nothing
at half. Listen, I said Deon Sanders was great to
get attention. Dion Sanders was good for energy and some recruiting.
He's not an elite football coach. They're one in four
in the Big twelve. You know, again, not every coach
(05:07):
is just about w's. I think at Colorado with some
of their revenue issues, nil World, I think Dion was
a good choice.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
But we always said this staff.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
I mean that, come on, I mean, you have to
be one thousand percent committed to coaching to be really,
really even good at it, and I just never thought
Dion was that level of a coach.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
Where Colin was right, I have never waivered on Justin Herbert.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
Top five quarterback period and right now, second in touchdown
passes in the NFL, first in passing yards with a
number three running back back up everywhere on the offensive line,
he's faced twenty more pressures than the next quarterback in
the NFL. They are five and three. They just blew
(05:56):
out the Vikings and again he is doing it. Most
of the offense either gone or not playing at one
hundred percent. Where Colin was wrong. Okay, I'm making an
exception with quarterbacks wearing their hat on backwards, Justin was
it a Laker game with singer and model Madison beer Listen,
(06:16):
I'm sorry I'm a true romantic. I'm sorry. Everything in
life has exceptions. It was his off day. I mean
he didn't have practice. I mean he looked at it.
It's like a hero. I mean, everybody in life has
to make one exception. Okay, I made a big exception,
and oh my bad.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
I'm a true romantic.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
I see, you know a lot more than just Valentine's
Day cards going forward. So I'm going to make a
little tiny exception with quarterbacks and their hat on backwards.
Influencer artist, Hey, it's an artist. Maybe he's becoming a
(07:00):
little more ad libby.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
All right, here we go the herd hierarchy on a.
Speaker 5 (07:45):
Tuesday heard hierarchy time is now go the top ten
NFL teams according to College number ten.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
Well, the Buffalo Bills are five and zero. When James
Cook rushes for one hundred yards a rush for one
hundred yards, Josh Allen only had to throw the ball
nineteen times. I don't think they're very good against the run.
Their pass defense is fine, but they're a very good team.
It's a long season. I like their on line, their
(08:16):
run game, Josh Allen. They could probably use another receiving
piece against the better defenses like Kansas City.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
But they're back in the top ten. Number ten, number nine.
New England beat them all. Put in New England nine.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
You know, New England is the only team since the
fifties first eight games they haven't allowed a running back
fifty plus yards. So Vrabel made them tougher better against
the run. And let's just be totally frank here. Drake
may looks like a top six to seven quarterback.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
In the league.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
He may not be, but He's completing seventy five percent
of his throws and his passer ratings one nineteen, so
the numbers say he is again.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
I think they need another weapon. I like the running
back room.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
They're good enough Hunter Henry at tight end, but this
is about coaching and an exploding young star at quarterback.
Don't think they're a super Bowl team, but.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
I have him at nine.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
Number eight. Broncos are a little inconsistent for me. I
do think Sean Payton is coaching bone Knicks. He wants
him to throw the ball down the field more and
sometimes it gets ugly.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
But here's the numbers you have to think of.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
This team is allowed the fewest sacks in the NFL
and is also has ten more sacks than anybody in
the NFL that travels. Denver's not going anywhere. It's why
I think they're one of the few teams that matches
up with Kansas City. You can't get the bone Knicks
and they get to your quarterback.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
Denver at eight. Number seven. Bucks are all beat up.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
I put them at seven mostly because they have a
veteran quarterback in Bo Nicks as a kid. They're all
beat up offensively, but they are still one t plus
yards down the field. Baker's the best quarterback in the league.
They have been out gained in four straight games, so
there's a little fools gold when they get into these
winning streaks.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
They're not pretty.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
They're all banged up, but I think we all acknowledge
at number seven Fields about right. Number six the Rams.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
They went and got a corner from Tennessee.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
I may have them a little low, highest overall great
and highest graded offense in the NFL according to PFF.
Now they have one of the last pocket quarterbacks, so
if you can get to Matt Stafford, that's the key.
And their O line is good. I don't think it's great.
They lead the NFL in big pass plays. Even when
Puca was gone. They brought in a fourth tight end,
(10:31):
smart coach, great quarterback. They don't move the pocket a ton,
so sometimes Stafford if protection pro pass protection regresses that
he can feel a little bit like a sitting duck.
But they're allowing an NFL low ten touchdowns through the season,
so it's just hard to get into the end zone
against the Rams.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
I have them at six. Number five the Lions.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
Again, a pocket quarterback golf can be a sitting duck
at times. I think the Ram and the Lions have
very very good rosters. I think the Lions have better
offensive personnel, the Rams have better defensive personnel. For their
five wins have come by double digits. They are really
special at home, they're okay on the road, and by
(11:17):
the way, their schedule is pretty weak going forward for
the next month, so they'll.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
Keep posting dobs. Number four Green Bay.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
Jordan Love, Folks, I don't want to hear that he's ascending.
He's a star arm mobility talent, and their defense allowed
the fewest big plays this season. They're just really well
coached and really well run everywhere. They're still really young,
they're still figuring some things out. They still have really
(11:48):
clunky halves of offensive football. But we got to get
over the Jordan Love is rising and Jordan Love is ascending. No, not,
he's top five to six, dude, Jordan Love's great period
and a sentence.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
Number three.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
I don't know what the heck to do with The
Colts only lost to the Rams, and they outplayed them
at so far, and they've gotten better since then, maybe
by a touchdown. I mean, I think teams now are
quitting against them. They are so physically dominant. It's the
best offensive line along with Detroit. I've seen they're mashing people.
They're just dominating people. Pittman and Pears and Warren and
(12:24):
Jonathan Taylor. You have to sign Daniel Jones to an extension.
I don't know if they're the third best team, but
all the numbers tell you they're squashing people. It's like
physically they're just stepping on people.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
I'll put them at three for now. Number two.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
Philadelphia has got more big game experience. AJ Brown didn't
play shocker best performance of the year. I think Philadelphia
gets a not over Indy because they've got more guys
that have played in big games, and as we get
closer to Thanksgiving, that stuff matters.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
So they're six and zero.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
When Saquon Barkley gets fifteen plus touches, I have a recommendation.
Give Saquon Barkley fifteen plus touches. Philly a two. Number one.
I don't even think Kansas any played that great last night.
I thought it was a B minus C plus performance
and they still won by three touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
I said this a few weeks ago.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
They haven't had this kind of offensive talent, Rashi Rice
Clear number one, Worthy, Clever number two, Juju Perfect three,
Travis Kelcey Gray excellent, tight end production, O line still
missing people, but again one of the reasons. I have
Casey one in Philly two big game experience. That stuff
matters on fourth down, that stuff matters in the red zone.
(13:43):
I have Seattle at eleven, the Chargers at twelve.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
Again.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
I don't know what in the world to do with
the Colts. I don't see him in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
at noon eastern non a em Pacific.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
So everybody's all fired up for this, and I thought,
you know, we'll give a little bit back.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
I like candy.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
I'm just knocking out, just knocked out a little kit.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
Cat bar here. Oh gross, Oh my god, it's great
life saver gummies.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
Yes, I don't. I don't care what they say about
red Dye.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
I love it. I've got a couple snickers here, So
we're gonna do it.
Speaker 1 (14:16):
You give me a quarterback, and I will give you
his candy comp all right.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
Which can't which Halloween candy is?
Speaker 1 (14:23):
Patrick Momes Easiest one, Reese's Peanut Butter Cup most popular
best in the game right now. Patrick leaves the NFL
in total touchdowns and rake second total yards this year
on a heater that is easily, by the way, the
most ordered Halloween candy by a long shot.
Speaker 6 (14:43):
As a kids say very nd. Which Halloween candy is?
Monicks Bonis is dark chocolate?
Speaker 1 (14:50):
I love him. I think it's an acquired taste. I'm
not sure if anybody else even likes it. I'm like
eighty seven, what do I care?
Speaker 2 (15:00):
I mean?
Speaker 1 (15:00):
During his five game winning streak in the fourth quarter alone,
thirteen touchdowns, two picks, bonex baby Bow beautiful?
Speaker 2 (15:08):
All right?
Speaker 6 (15:08):
Which Halloween candy is Baker Mayfield Warhead?
Speaker 2 (15:14):
Very intense, but you learn to love it.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
I mean, listen, he leaves the NFL with eighty two
touchdown passes. Since joining the Bucks. He can be a
little reckless. It takes a while to get used to it.
But you know what, You down a couple of those Warheads,
You're all in.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
All right?
Speaker 6 (15:32):
Which Halloween candy is Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
He's complex, and so is this candy. The toutsy roll pop.
It's got a hardened exterior, but it's totally different inside,
completely different inside. Listen, the Steelers are going to average
twenty five a game, right, that's what they're doing right now.
That's their best in five six years. So the TUTSI
roll pop again. I'm not saying it's great for your teeth.
(15:59):
I'm not saying, but the outside in the inside, it's
very complex.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
It's two different candy.
Speaker 6 (16:05):
That's a good one. Which Halloween candy is Jalen Hurtz
candy corn. A lot of people love it something it's
totally overrated. He's won twenty two of us twenty of
his last twenty two.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
Games, so it's dependable. It's always there.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
But they have one of the highest third and out
percentages in the NFL. So you're either with it or
you're not at all.
Speaker 6 (16:32):
Love me some candy corda which Halloween candy is in
Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
We both love Stafford. He's old, reliable, like the Hershey bar.
You know what you're getting, right, never bad. Leads the
NFL in touchdown passes and big plays, second highest quidded passer.
I mean, it goes with almost anything. A fifth round
wide receiver, a fifth round running back, an undrafted left tackle,
(17:00):
the classic thirty seven year old still good.
Speaker 6 (17:03):
Which Halloween candy is your guy? Caleb William? My god,
the butterfinger sounds good?
Speaker 2 (17:11):
But is it? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (17:14):
I'm not sure if it is. I mean he's nine
to fifteen. Completion percentage declined this season, ranks twenty fourth.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
I used to get stuff in my teat. I'm weird
after taste. I don't know if I like it. I
like butterfinger. I finally, Collin, which Halloween candy is? Trevor Lawrence?
The staff came up with this mystery airhead? What you're
never quite sure what you just experience?
Speaker 2 (17:43):
Well? What is it?
Speaker 1 (17:45):
He leaves the NFL with seventy four turnovers since he
entered the league, and his record is twenty six and
forty one.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
It's good, No, it's not. What is it?
Speaker 1 (17:56):
I'm not sure he's talented. There's the ball over. I
don't know what to make it. Trevor Lawrence or the
mystery had hairhead?
Speaker 6 (18:05):
Yeah, good stuff. I can't believe you don't like candy corn.
Bro come on, candy corn is so good.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
It's a little bit like candle wax, ChIL wax, A
little bit. How I'm a texture guy. Yeah, I can't
there's certain textures I can't do.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
I gotta be honest.
Speaker 6 (18:22):
I'm shocked that Reese's peanut butter cups are like the
most popular.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
By a mile. I had no clue those are I
just yeah, Wow, that's sunning.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
One more Herd. The Herd streams twenty four hours a day,
seven days a week within the iHeartRadio app. Search Herd
to listen live or on demand whenever you like.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
Here we go our number two on a Friday.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
Blazing Five's got its own contrail right now. It is
red hot four and one, four and one, four and one.
I have been banned in last Vegas. They won't let
me off the plane.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
I'm so hot. Welcome in. It's Halloween.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
Jaymack going as Austin Rivers Reeves Austin Reeves.
Speaker 6 (19:10):
I mean he's only carrying the Lakers right now without
Luca Lebron.
Speaker 2 (19:14):
You know J Mack, a little J Mutch with a
gun show. But whatever you know talking about I haven't
worked out all weeks. Come on, sorry, that's a lie fire.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
That's a long Listen. Last week I did something I
never do with my picks. I said I'm taking all favorites.
I don't like favorites this week. Once again, I'm doing
something you shouldn't do, taking road favorites. They tell you
don't do that. I don't love the numbers. I like
the numbers more this week than last week. I just
(19:45):
end up doing well last week. So the last couple
of weeks, it's a lot of favorites, but it's been working.
I'm gonna do it again, and here we go.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
Let's blaze it up.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
It's Collins Blazon forty nine ers at Giants.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
I like the Niners minus two and a half at
the Giants without skataboo.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
Listen the Giants.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
They're not playing clean football and the Niners have the
number two passing offense and the Giants pass defense stinks.
The Niners are two and zero after a loss, and
I like taking well coached teams after they played poorly.
The Niners last week not buttoned up. They're in a
bad move. No Molak neighbors, no camskataboo. For the five
(20:32):
losses by the Giants this year, defense isn't very good.
Have been by twelve plus points. Too many penalties, they
give up big plays and I think Mac Jones can
burn you. I like the Niners to win and cover
the spread twenty eight to twenty three.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
Bears at Bengals.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
I think it's a good matchup for Chicago. I'll take
the road favorite minus two and a half. Since Week four, well,
the Bears are four and one of the Bengals are
one and five, so there's that. Bears didn't get turnover
advantages last week, but they generally do, and their offense
does lead the NFL in big plays. And the Bengals
defense this year is awful. Their last and everything but
(21:11):
third down defense, and they're next to last with that.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
They're one and five without Burrow, they.
Speaker 1 (21:17):
Don't run the ball particularly well, and Joe Flacco's banged up.
The Bears are not a great team, but they can
be very good when they get a good matchup like
the Dallas defense or the Bengals defense. I think Chicago
wins and covers the spread, final score thirty three to
twenty seven.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
She said Bills.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
I like the over fifty two and a half points.
The over. Weather's gonna be fine. Third ranked offensive line
Buffalo and the fourth ranked offensive line Kansas City, so
both quarterbacks will have time to throw five straight game
for Kansas City, scoring twenty eight or more, and they're
receiving tight end. Core is stacked number one total offense
(22:03):
in the last month, the Bills averaging six yards a play,
second best in the NFL. Josh Allen when he plays
the Chiefs, he'll run it a bit more. But if
you look at the games between Mahomes and Josh Allen,
the defenses.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
Struggle to make stops.
Speaker 1 (22:21):
I think it's a classic Buffalo Kansas City matchup. I
think Kansas City's gonna win. Take the over fifty two
and a half points Seahawks at Commanders. I'm gonna take
the Commanders plus three and a half at home. Listen,
Jaden Daniels hamstring and Laramie Tunzel hamstring both could return
(22:43):
second best red zone offense in the NFL, only behind
the Eagles. So if they can move the ball, they
can get touchdowns. They also run the ball effectively, and
I like that. The Seahawks are getting sloppy and a
bit reckless for me. I love Sam Darnold, but he's
gotten back to some bad habits right now. The Seahawks
(23:04):
offense in the last couple of games is sputtering. No
Kevin o'conddle in the building. Commanders win it, take the points.
I like Washington twenty eight to twenty seven. Cowboys Cardinals. Cowboys.
I'm gonna take Dallas minus two and a half. They're
(23:24):
just a very good home team, one of five teams
that hasn't lost at home. Number one scoring offense in
the league and at home. Strangely, they don't give the
ball away, only one giveaway in Dallas all year. I
just like what they do at home. Dak haven't a
really good season. Protections better than I thought, so is
the run game the Cardinals. That defense is banged up
(23:47):
and getting worse, allowed twenty seven plus points in back
to back games. Again, this is really I'm taking Dak
at home over a better team. Who knows who's quarterback
for Arizona, but I think they're regressing. Dallas still believes
in that building they can make the playoffs, and maybe
they can swallow the points. Dallas wins and covers twenty
(24:11):
eight to twenty four. So again I'm taking favorites. I'm
not prone to do that. Plus the over on the
Bills and achieves
