Speaker 1 (00:00):
I can't stand that all these outdoor teams are building domes,
like the the most picture perfect like football photographs are
snow games in like late November and like Cleveland or
Denver or whatever in Chicago, and they're all building fucking
domes and they're gonna close the shit when it gets cold,
(00:22):
and like it just it makes me sound like an
old like cranky guy, but like, no, doesn't don't care.
Football is an outside sport and it's beautiful when it's cold.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Okay, And here's my thing too, I'm a one hundred percent
agree with you.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
And secondly, it gives the home team an advantage, like
when you're used to it and people have to come
in there, why would you not embrace that shit? We're back. Oh,
(01:07):
let's try to start a slow clap. And Sophie wasn't.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
Talking with it at all.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Welcome back to the Show Me Something podcast sponsored Bye
be wonderful, good brothers an sistors at Arby's.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Put your shakes up. Actually I've finished this before we
show records. Take it just I know, and I already
started eating my gobbler.
Speaker 4 (01:30):
Can I get a review on the Gobby? The gobby dude, honestly. Yeah,
let me turn it up real quick because you're a
little low. Okay, So gobbler, yeah, takeobye, Like there's a
lot of like it's like a flavor bust in your mouth.
There's so many flavors.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
I mean, Sophie, come on, well, a lot of.
Speaker 5 (01:52):
It's gonna bust in my mouth.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Well, but but like look at all that there's like onions,
there's so much different type of stuff on there. I'm
I don't know, mm hmm. Do you do you feel
the boast in your mouth? Girl? Do I see? But
I wasn't wrong. There's just like a you don't and
the boom. Well West, start you drinks. But I feel
(02:15):
like this apple pie shake is pretty damn good.
Speaker 5 (02:19):
No, it's it's it's.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
Cinnamon is an underrated spice who wants to challengeing on that?
That's actually really good if you but it's pretty damn
like it tastes like an apple pie, like if you
like sweet. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
I also here's the thing to start of the show,
the gobbler. It's very Thanksgiving corn bread and cranberry, like cranberry.
There's not enough like cranberry sauce on sandwiches. Besides, it's
either if someone commits to doing it like our did,
(03:00):
or when you're doing leftover sandwiches the day after Thanksgiving,
like with like Hawaiian rolls. That's when you put cranberry
sauce on stuff. But like this, I should be on more.
Speaker 5 (03:11):
Things, is basically all I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Well, you know, I think they're coming out with the
Club too, which is like another deep fried turkey sandwich
and instead of like you know, like Crispy Onions on
like Thanksgiving, like green Bean castrole and stuff like that.
That's my favorite. Okay, but the Club, I think instead
of the Krispy Onions, I'm pretty sure has bacon. Krispy bacon.
Speaker 5 (03:36):
Oh wow, this is it going to turn into an
Asmar podcast?
Speaker 2 (03:39):
I know we keep beating Arby's every single one. Okay,
holy shit, thanks Arby's.
Speaker 5 (03:50):
How's your wee get?
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Recording as one early guys is on Monday? Finally, Yeah, honestly,
I had one of the better weekends that I've had
in a really long time. Like, well, you met Sidney Sweeney,
what what are you saying?
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Guys?
Speaker 2 (04:13):
So be met Sidney Sweeney and tweeted and said one
of us left our tits at home incredibly funny. Dude,
I thought that was hilarious and so many people like that.
I was being serious, and I was like, dude, this
is not a competition. My tists are clearly way better
than hers.
Speaker 5 (04:29):
Exactly did you was it a quick was it a
quick picture? Or did you like meet her?
Speaker 2 (04:36):
So, so let me tell you about my weekend real quick,
because I'm not kidding. I think a lot of people
who go to events and like appearances, like you can
attest to this, that the majority of the time they're
really not that fun, like you have to kind of
like fake the fun. I had a fucking blasted Nascar
(04:58):
Like I think those are my people. That's where I've
long We went like three or four years go together.
Speaker 5 (05:04):
This was I was gonna say, was it same track and.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
Everything, the same track, way better in every other aspect?
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Okay, it was what were we just not that fun
that day?
Speaker 2 (05:16):
No? I just think like the people I went with,
we went with like actual Nascar like it was like
it was so fun, Like I don't even know how
to explain it to you. So I just had a
complete blast. But I went How I met Sydney. She's
actually so nice. I think she's a very nice girl.
Like I'm friends with her.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
Yeah, I don't think she's controversial for a lot of
things that don't have to do with her personality that
makes sense either like her boobs and the American Eagle thing,
or like a lot of stuff that I think she
hasn't act it's like not coming from her.
Speaker 5 (05:56):
It's like, yeah, the.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
Weird new wants behind everything she does.
Speaker 5 (06:02):
I agree that. To say I would, I would imagine
she's like very cool.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
Super nice and honestly, I think the majority of people
that you do meet are really nice. And so we
were there and it was like we just talked for
like i'd say a minute, two minutes, Like it was
really quick because everyone like there is celebrities and VIPs
and so we were all kind of doing our own things.
So it was very quick, like hey, how are you
so nice to meet you? Like big fan, big fan,
(06:26):
like all that type of stuff, and so, I I
don't know, I mean, it's coolest she did. Well, I
don't know, but you know how like everyone like when
you're around that, I was like, oh, like love, yeah,
like like I don't know, you know what I mean,
but super nice and so we just got a quick
pick and it was fun. We were in the VIP.
They introduced the drivers like their sponsors are in there,
(06:51):
like important people are in this meeting, but they do
it before every race and it was like the coolest
experience ever, Like it was so fun and so uh.
There's the lebs, there was VIP guests, there were sponsors,
all the drivers, there's a couple of fans. But the
guy who got the biggest ovation, which it was so cool.
I couldn't even do him justice. But he is like
a Purple Heart winner. He served for like I don't
(07:15):
know how many years, but he has like all the
accolades that someone going to work possibly have, but he
got like the greatest ovation and it was just like
so cool. I don't even know how to explain it,
but I so we did that. I went to the
Jordan Davis concert, which he's awesome. If you guys like
country music, do you know who that is? West, I'm
going to send you some because you'd actually like it,
(07:36):
like it's like fun country, you know, then yeah yeah,
And then I got to do the pace car like
it was sick fucking awesome. I don't even know how
to explain it. Like the whole time, I was just happy,
Like I was so content. I was so happy. It's awesome.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
Do you do in the pace car? You're not you
weren't driving it? Were you just in it?
Speaker 6 (07:57):
No?
Speaker 2 (07:57):
But I asked if I could drive it.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
And it doesn't go fast, right, it's just one lap
and then and then it gets out of the way
and then everyone goes.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
So we did five laps, so it's like them all
kind of warming up. It was so cool. There's one
time we went really fast because they all practiced like
going into the pit and whatnot, and so we have
to keep up like with them. It was just like
the coolest experience ever. Then I also got to meet
the commissioner, Steve Phelps. He was super nice. His wife was.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
If I was a commissioner of any any league, I
would I would run away from you.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
Oh yeah, well listen to this speaking of that before
I met their commissioner. Also, the owner of NASCAR is
a badass woman. I didn't really get to meet her,
but I kind of gave her like a oh fire, Hey, yeah,
that's dope. But someone who is friends with Kathy came
up to me while I was like meeting, greeting tank photos, like,
so what could she do better? And I was like
(08:54):
and I was like, well, so I told him a couple.
I was like, all right, I gotta go. So that
was kind of funny, but I'm fine with answering that.
But it was just like kind of hey time and
place like everyone's having a good time. That was like
the VIP when you need everybody red carpet. So it
was like kind of weird time. But I was like, hey,
like it is what it is here it is. So
I kind of laid out like two or three things
and then I was like, all right, gotta go. Also
(09:14):
did like the NASCAR pre show with Alex Weaber, which
these girls are beautiful, like NASCAR people are really pretty.
You need to look her up, and Carla Metz but
they did a phenomenal job. Any hot drivers wes they
hell come up to my billy button. Oh they're small guys, yeah,
(09:34):
really small. Oh speaking jockeys, Ah, no, bigger than jockeys,
Bigger than jockeys, Okay, little ground speaking of kind of
smaller guys with a big bank account. Met Johnny Morris,
Bass Pro owner Johnny Morris.
Speaker 1 (09:53):
Oh I would have worn my best pro hat dude.
I wait, wait, wait, I do want to say I
think bass Pro cav Will you look this up?
Speaker 7 (10:03):
Well, she's pulling a west right now the runoff camera.
This is a signature West pod move. You just stole
your move.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
I would like to say, I do think the owner
of bass Pro Shops is from Sorry fuck Turkey Gobbler. Yeah,
he's from I think the first bass Pro Shops was
in Springfield, Missouri.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
It is yeah, yeah, there you are.
Speaker 5 (10:30):
Springfield.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
Yeah, so we love we love a Missouri local, Missouri
mom and pop store like.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Bass pro Dude. He gave me this himself. You sign
it a little shirtby No, I didn't think about that.
It's okay. I just had a great weekend, Like I'm
I'm really happy. So if I'm fulfilled in many ways? Uh?
And how much longer in Arizona do you have?
Speaker 1 (10:59):
I feel like you keep feeling like you're about to
move back and then you're still there.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
So my this is probably like my busiest November. So
I'm like here and then I'm going to Indiana for
a couple of days, going back to Missouri, Florida, New York, Phoenix, California, Missouri,
what's in California a basketball tournament? I'm just gonna pop
(11:23):
by for like Thanksgiving. No, yeah, you can't.
Speaker 5 (11:27):
Yeah, waited? Was it like three three or something?
Speaker 2 (11:30):
Cool? No, it's like five y five men's basketball.
Speaker 5 (11:33):
It was like a real deal.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
Yeah. Do you remember Luke Fest in Spokane, Washington? Have
you ever heard of food Fest? I don't know. I
don't know if I have.
Speaker 5 (11:39):
It's like, I don't know if it's the biggest.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
I just know this because everyone in Montana who was
from like the Washington area all talked about this. It's
like the biggest three v three. It's like an outdoor
basketball tournament that like everyone. Yeah, it's like fire. Have
you have you played with any girls who into Gonzaga?
Speaker 2 (11:57):
No, but I'm friends with the wort twins. They're one
of them. They're like super tall, they're well, I want
to say really friends. I'm like, I'm I know them
through like social media and stuff like that. But they're
super nice. Lee and Jin Yeah, awesome.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
They go.
Speaker 5 (12:14):
Are they go to Gonzaga?
Speaker 2 (12:16):
They did? They did go to Gonzaga. Now one of
them married Corey he plays in the NBA, and they
like live out here. Yeah, beautiful girls tall, so they
have their like own clothing brand because they're so tall,
because they can't find pants. Okay, so enough about me.
I want to hear about the New York Marathon. And
I saw so many people posting.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
Sophie, I'm gonna cry. It is like I've been crying.
I've been crying all morning watching the videos. I can,
I cannot. I cannot emphasize what a like a special
day it is. It is well, just like everything in
I don't know, there's so much just negativity everywhere and
(12:59):
like people who are freaks and like it's just everything's crazy.
It is pure, like it is peak humanity and it
is just all. I saw a sign that said go
mom after my second beer, and I started.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
I was like, oh my god. People have signs that
say like I don't know you, but I'm proud of you.
Like it is.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
I cannot, I cannot. I just got how special of
a day? No, it is like and and you see
every type of person doing it, which I think is
what makes it such a special event.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
Okay, ladies, gather around, your wardrobe's about to level up.
The skims fits everybody collection total game changer, Like, how
is it even this comfy. The fabric literally moves with you, soft, stretchy, featherlight.
It's giving main character energy in every room. I've been
a Skims fan forever, but once I slipped into the
(13:51):
Fits Everybody collection, yeah, it was game over for me.
And let's talk about that Skims song, no digging, no discomfort.
Just then there's a triangle ballet. Can't forget that. And
trust me as someone piggy about bra let, this one
is the MVP. Supportive yet chill, no squeeze, no stress,
just pure comfort and lift and you don't feel it whatsoever.
(14:14):
Big fan. I didn't think underwear could even change my
life like this, but Skims joy said watch this. So
if you've been waiting for a sign to finally try
the Fits Everybody collection, this is it. Shot the Skims
Fits Everybody collection at skims dot.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
Com, and this is every shape, every size, every age.
Speaker 5 (14:34):
Men and women.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
Like doing it for a charity, They're doing it because
of like someone they love, doing it to chest themselves
whatever it is, and like seeing.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
All the people around you also cheering for strangers.
Speaker 5 (14:51):
Like it is.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
It's it's so special. I like, I'll never I will
never miss in your.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
City Marathon, Tom Dad like it is is that just
seems like it's like a very positive, it's like a
full of love event. Yeah, like they're just love everywhere.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
It is love everywhere, and like you see stuff where
like people wait and like their family member runs by.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
And they like pop confetti and everyone stops. They tugs.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
And the other thing that I think is a testament
to what New York City Marathon is is like a
lot of people running have times that they want to
beat or like they want a pr or they're trying
to be sub four like whatever it is. But like
that being said, they still stop hug their friends, hug
their family, turn around a wave to people, take a
(15:37):
shot in the crowd, like like it's just like hugging
your friends and family and saying hi people who are
supporting you. Like over rides like people's goals, like timing wise,
you know, with Jesse, I met up with Jesse and
Kyle and we went to that part east side and
(15:59):
saw a call all I think it was Mile oh miles, yeah,
Carl ran.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
So whatever, Yeah, that's awesome.
Speaker 1 (16:10):
And we found him and like just kind of had
like a big family group hug when we saw him
and cheer on. But then like the other thing that's
obviously cool and like I love this is that all
the bars that are on the roads that the marathon
are on are a circus and and like there's no
ru Like everyone's drinking outside.
Speaker 5 (16:29):
It's fucking crazy.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
Yeah, And so you just pop into bars and get
a beer and then you track the app like when
your friends are like gonna be there and five minutes
then you go back outside to the fence, wait for
your friends to pop in, give them a hug, then
go back in and like everyone's there to like cheer
on their friends. You know, I love that it is.
I yeah, I could talk about this forever. But now
(16:52):
day after I'm getting all the videos with like cinematic audio,
and it's like everyone hiding each other and stuff.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
Was there any like funny signs though, or like anything
like people wearing funny costs too are.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
Like yeah, and people do coutumes. One of them said,
my friend Matt he was the Bachelor a few years ago.
Speaker 5 (17:13):
He who's that he ran?
Speaker 2 (17:15):
His name's Matt James. He played receiver at I think, yeah,
I know, I think I'm going to do a food
review with them next time I'm in New York. Yeah,
yeah you should, Yeah you should.
Speaker 5 (17:26):
But he ran.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
He had like twenty roses and he gave them out
like along the route and so like he gave a
final one and like the final turn.
Speaker 5 (17:34):
Like it's just so fun.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
I saw a sign that said some of them are
like so insane, but like this one literally says you're
a hot slut, keep running, and like I'm sure that's
for her friend, but like they're like they're just goofy.
We saw this one on a dog is the dog's
name is? Kevin said, who's a good runner?
Speaker 2 (18:00):
I love I just love that.
Speaker 5 (18:03):
Yeah. Wait, this one is the one that just says,
I'm so proud.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
Of you.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
And the people running.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
Yeah, and so like there's a cute one where like
a kid had one that said hit for like a
power boost, So everyone runs runs by and hits the
kids sign for like a power up or whatever. There's
a lot of ones that just say like don't shit
your pants, don't trust a fart after like a mile
ten like stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
But it's it's just it's like truly the best.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
The other thing with New York is everyone we all
live so high up that the streets are crowded, but
then people are on their fire escapes cheering and watching also.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
Perfect weather, like, oh, it was just a perfect.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
Day and literally could not be more perfect fall day,
while there's football on the TV's inside, and I just
it's anyone who has experienced it knows how cool it
is and like I'm obsessed.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
Well good, I feel like that's like everyone's same response.
I think everyone should maybe go go watch it or
running it at least once in their life, is what
I'm hearing.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
It does make you want to run because you, like
just the support from strangers is just so powerful and
like it's got to be such an adrenaline rush to
like get that. And so when you in the end
in Manhattan, I don't know if you knew this, but
the New York City Marathon goes through all five boroughs,
(19:40):
so it's like starts in Staten Island, Brooklyn Queens right
into Manhattan. So then when they come to Manhattan, they
cross a bridge obviously, so then it's like I just
saw this because I just saw a TikTok on it,
and it was like crossing the bridge is pure silence.
And then as you get into Manhattan, turn up First Avenue.
We're like everyone is. And so you go from bridge
(20:04):
silence to entering the busiest street in all of New
York City and people cheering for you, and like it
was about how like the that experience as a runner
is like uncomparable to anything you can ever do?
Speaker 2 (20:17):
Why am I getting the goose bumps? Like every there's
like three things you've said. I've tried not to cry
four times. Oh my god. And I saw this other
TikTok this morning.
Speaker 5 (20:27):
Oh cry.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
It was like a first grade teacher and all our
kids were there and they were all, oh, yeah, I
love so crazy.
Speaker 2 (20:40):
Yeah do it in the first graders, and like their
parents like, actually go and do that. Fun dude. She
comes back. She's ahead and she comes back.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
That's what I'm saying is people turn Like I saw
a video of Carl doing it, where like someone yelled
at him and he's like way ahead.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
He turned around to go back, and it's like that
is really what an emo?
Speaker 5 (21:05):
I'm sure it's so, it's so awesome.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
Fuck, why does that make you emo?
Speaker 5 (21:11):
Crying?
Speaker 8 (21:12):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Emotional?
Speaker 5 (21:13):
No, I mean like emotional.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
Em so no, I have tears in my eyes too.
I'm not even gonna lie. I love those types of sod.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
And then of course there's also the videos of like
the Last People to Cross at the end of the night,
where there's people are still there sharing them on Yeah.
But then like if you're still out for like whether
it's Sunday night football kind of like when the sun's setting, yep,
the whole city is full of people with they're like
the capes they give you and their medals, like with
their family and so it's just like it is it is, yeah,
(21:48):
just a day for love and support and like it's
just so fucking cool.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
Okay, I know we're you know. What I actually do
love about that too, is like it's also New York
where there's so much like diversity, there's so many things
that draw people, like different attention and so many like
different beliefs like cultures, but they all come together for this.
I think that's really cool and special. Well.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
Yeah, and because a lot of people run with the
flags of like the country that their families are from
and just or like their cheer, like it just is
you're so correct on that, and that's why it's so
cool because it's every type of person. Remember hungry, Yeah, sorry,
at this I'll talking about this for a thousand hours,
but it was it was so fun. And the last
(22:35):
thing I'll say is it is so chaotic that sometimes
you do miss your friends, like like the app fucking lags,
or you don't you get there like right before they passed,
or they're they're slower faster than you thought. I crushed yesterday,
saw Carl So, my boy eight, and my friend Alyssa,
Like I just really timed up everything at the right
(22:57):
time and like got to see everyone and had interact
actions with them.
Speaker 5 (23:01):
On the fence.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
So it was that's awesome.
Speaker 5 (23:03):
We were like effiicient yesterday and seeing everyone.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
So that was good.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
Because I didn't Yeah you were you there all day? Then?

Speaker 2 (24:54):
I was gonna say, did you watch the Chiefs game then?
Speaker 6 (24:56):
Or not?
Speaker 2 (24:56):
Really?
Speaker 1 (24:57):
It was like, on I I was having enough fun
and I sometimes the Chiefs games, especially the Bills, it
stresses me out so much and I care so much
that I it's almost easier to disassociate and be like,
I'll check in, but I'm not going to like let
this dictate my whole mood for the day.
Speaker 5 (25:19):
And we kind of didn't play well.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
The whole game looked like so it was probably better
for me that I didn't, like stay dialed into every
snap because that way I can still have a fun
day with my friends and not be like bummed out
because the Chiefs were like do we lose?
Speaker 2 (25:37):
I didn't watch it?
Speaker 1 (25:39):
Yeah, which yeah kind of gross.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
I mean the Bills are obviously good. It's just one
of those things.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
But I was talking to someone and I mean, per
part of the course, we lose to them in the
regular season and then beat them in the playoffs, so
like have a win. Yeah, I enjoy it.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
A lot of Bills gear outside yesterday too, well, well
it was after the last time they're playing.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
In that stadium, right yeah, unless unless unless playoffs playoffs
and then then Chiefs go back. But like, yeah, yeah,
they're building a new one right next door. I will say,
the Bill Stadium. I don't know if you've been there
or not, but it's very it feels like a college stadium.
It's not like it's not like overwhelmingly huge, but they're
(26:32):
like it's always going to.
Speaker 5 (26:33):
Be sold out.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
They're always going to like be loud and have fun.
It's very college y atmosphere.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
And so now they're one of a smaller stadium. No, like,
what's the purpose of billion new one if they have
such good.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
History there, because I think it's fucking stupid that all
these teams are doing it, But it's uh, I mean,
assuming they can make more money some more tickets, try
to host a Super Bowl. Buffalo has shitty weather, so
then like they can close the roof if they want,
which I could soapbox for so long. I can't stand
(27:06):
that all these outdoor teams are building domes. Like the
the most picture perfect like football photographs are snow games
in like late November and like Cleveland or Denver, whatever
in Chicago, and they're all building fucking domes and they're
gonna close the shit when it gets cold, and like
(27:28):
it just it makes me sound like an old like
cranky guy, but like, no, doesn't don't care. Football is
an outside sport and it's beautiful when it's cold.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
Okay, And here's my thing too, I'm one hundred percent
agree with you.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
And secondly, it gives the home team an advantage, like
when when you're used to it and people have to
come in there, why would you not embrace that shit.
Couldn't agree more, couldn't agree more.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
The other thing, too, is that now you make so
much if you can host a super Bowl, and they
don't give super Bowls to cities in cold weather.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
Elements because obviously.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
The Super Bowl is the first second week into February,
and they did it one time in New York, and
I think it was like really freezing cold and people complained.
So now teams were building domes to that.
Speaker 2 (28:21):
Dude, people are gonna get in the Super Bowl. Yeah nice.
Whatever do you remember last year there? It might have
been two years ago, Like it was a super cool
game in Kansas City, and like fifteen people got.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
Like like, yeah, I went to that game. I went
to that game, like Kyle and Thomas and all them frostbite.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
Frostbite, Like so many people got frostbite.
Speaker 5 (28:44):
Because all these dudes got drunk.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
One got drunk and took your shirts off to be funny,
and then like got hurt and then yeah. Two, there
are people who like don't actually know how to prepare
for like freezing cold weather correct There's a lot of
things to do. And I will say this, if my
dad is not anything, he will always be a dad
who made sure my brother and I dressed correctly for.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
Cold weather events.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
Like he's the most over prepared, like chiefs cold weather
layer ski trip guy ever, Like.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
It's the ski trip and then you just use your
ski stuff for football games.
Speaker 5 (29:28):
Yep. So I had this drilled into my head forever.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
But you got like starts with your toes if your
feeter If your feet are.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
Okay, you're gonna be okay.
Speaker 1 (29:37):
Okay, So you gotta have on a good boot and
a good and nice expensive wool sock.
Speaker 5 (29:42):
You just layer like four layers.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
Of cotton socks doesn't worship for you a great, No,
bring some footwarmers.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
Fucking shake them up.
Speaker 5 (29:51):
Put those right in your.
Speaker 2 (29:51):
Boots, and you're gonna be so good.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
Another big pro tip, if your head to a game
and it's called out, don't put your layers on or
your thermals on until you get out of the car.
Speaker 5 (30:00):
If you put your thermals on in the on.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
The way there, you're gonna be hot as shit, sweaty,
and then you're gonna get ouside and everything's gonna be
like wet and sticky, and then you're gonna be absolutely freezing.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
And then being from Missouri, because I feel like this
is the same ship that our family's taught me.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
Yeah, and then and then obviously you want your head
to be warm, so make sure you bring a beani.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
You don't just wear a baseball cap. And there you go.
Speaker 1 (30:26):
And sometimes these stadiums you can bring in cardboard so
that your feet aren't on the concrete that is also cold.
And then that transmits the cold yep and onto your
boots and your feet, so people layer up.
Speaker 2 (30:37):
But never done that one. Yeah, yeah, done that.
Speaker 5 (30:41):
Yeah, that's a good one, dude.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
I don't know how to explain this that there's a massive,
just like random hill in the middle of Columbia and
it's like very random.
Speaker 5 (30:50):
It's so random. It's like in the middle of a neighborhood.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
And then there's a little pond right next to it,
and then the road is like fencing and you just
sit up there and then you can just vombit.
Speaker 2 (31:01):
It's a huge but it's like when I think people
are thinking like, oh, it's probably big hill, it is
a like it is like the I don't even know
how to explain it is like this and it's long.
It's like a huge hill, random as hill.
Speaker 5 (31:13):
So sick.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
Lucas's little brother broke his leg on that hill and
my dad made him walk up the hill. So that's
a fun family story for us. He was like, you're good,
you're good, and like held his hand and made him,
made him walk up the fucking hill. And I think
he would I think he had like a tib and
(31:36):
fib break.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
Oh no, So it was bad.
Speaker 5 (31:40):
Yeah, well he put his leg down to stop himself.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
Oh no, So I remember Woodraille and I also remember
I don't know if I was a freshman or sophomore.
And this is like so dangerous looking back, but it
was like it was that huge snowstorm and like school
scandaled for legit like a week and a half, two weeks,
Like it was a lot because there's more for like
the people who rode the buses. Too cold for them
to stand outside.
Speaker 3 (32:05):
And so.
Speaker 2 (32:07):
We put two or three sleds on the back. I
think of like Adam's truck, and we went through the
neighborhoods and we were just sliding on the roads. But
like you had it so awesome, so fun. You got
to like dodge mailboxes, Like I'm sure there was like
shit in the road that was so dangerous. Like I
look back and I'm like, what were we doing?
Speaker 5 (32:25):
Should we rip it? Tell me something?
Speaker 2 (32:28):
There is something?
Speaker 3 (32:31):
Hey, this is Rutby enjoying the podcast. You guys are hilarious.
My questions for Wes what's the Backtoria on the rodeo
picture that's behind you on all your podcasts?
Speaker 1 (32:44):
Thanks by hell yeah, Rusty, so obviously This isn't my picture,
so there's not like a story where like I went
and took this or whatever.
Speaker 5 (32:54):
I got it from a place called House of Spoils.
Speaker 1 (32:59):
I think the black and white and the like hint
of American flag with a horse is just like it
just feels like very classic. It's like a classic Americana look.
And as though I'm not a cowboy, my dad obviously
like is, and so I like to keep a little
bit of like a little western feel into this new apartment.
(33:19):
But given the background, it's gotta be like it's a
small town rodeo in Montana or Wyoming. I guess if
I read the advertisements on the fence, I could probably
like figure out where this is. But I just really
like the piece, and I thought it's outside black and white,
one flag, she's got like frilled chaps on.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
I don't know, it's just like it's just dope. I
don't know.
Speaker 5 (33:46):
I just like it a lot rusty. Thank you for
asking now. But House of Spoils shout out to them.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
They do a lot of like war, so we can
plug them. We can plug them. Yeah, that was our
first voicemail to day.
Speaker 5 (33:58):
I got three more here for you.
Speaker 2 (34:00):
Guys. All right, here we go.
Speaker 6 (34:03):
Hi Sophie, Hi West. I'm a little big fan of
your podcast and watched every one of them, sometimes twice,
and I think Sophie is just a role model for
younger people, not just girls, but boys as well. She
does a great job. Anyway, my question is, I've been
watching the WNBA now for I guess about two years,
and it sure seems like it's a lot more physical
(34:26):
than the NBA games. And I'm just wondering what your
perception of that is. And I guess those arguments, you know,
both ways, but just watching it, I think maybe it's
the passion of the people involved and the WNBA. But
I'm just curious about your thoughts. Anyway, keep up the
goy work. I'll look forward to it. It's one of
the things I will look forward to watching every single week.
Speaker 2 (34:48):
Thank you. Well, that's kind of nice that he looks
forward to hearing from us.
Speaker 9 (34:54):
M hm.
Speaker 5 (34:55):
That's a good question.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
Now, it is it is. I think the league is
very physical, and I think it needs to be that way. Like,
I'm all for that. I think that's part of being
a pro. It's about being at the next level, it's
about being around elite level athletes, and it's awesome to
see strong women being able to play physical and showing
(35:17):
young boys young girls that it's okay to work hard,
to sweat, to be physical, but also to enjoy what
you do and love what you do. And so for me,
I think this last season, you know, I think that
when it comes to maybe the physicality around the league,
maybe it was a little bit too much. I think
that the what's considered a foul in the rule book
(35:39):
maybe needs to change a little bit, because the rest
always kind of go back like, well, that's this is
what it is in the handbook, and so this is
why we call it. But I think that the handbook
maybe needs to evolve a little bit and get with
the times, because I feel like the majority of this
season was how physical playoffs normally are. So playoff basketball
is known to be more physical. You're not going to
(36:00):
get calls. It's just a harder game, and everyone knows that.
Ask any any league around the world. Playoffs are just different.
But for us, I think you just saw a lot
more injuries. You saw maybe just a lot more fistness
amongst the players and the coaches, a lot more people
being vocal about it, just because they thought that there
(36:22):
was points where it's out of control, where we just
need to dial in a little bit. I think we
should stay physical, but I think that the rest kind
of need to be more disciplined from the beginning of
the game and be more consistent, if that makes sense.
So I don't know if I answer your question, but
there's a lot of thoughts surrounding our physicality, the refs,
how the game should be called in the regular season
verse playoffs. So I don't know if that helped.
Speaker 7 (36:44):
Sophie learned some karate moves from West's last episodes. So
you guys have the career out there, eagle bear, I.
Speaker 2 (36:50):
Forgot what else? Yeah, that's what it, dude. Have you
ever seen someone in a fight like this?
Speaker 4 (37:00):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (37:00):
Yeah, no, the fence cav but I've seen a lot
of Asian guys do that in movies.
Speaker 7 (37:05):
It's it's it's our go too, it's our go to that.
That's what I thought it West first, That's what it started.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
No, see, you did it. You did it right? Yah,
you went like this. Yeah, a little more swag on me.
Speaker 7 (37:19):
He's a little more arby sauce on his All right, guys,
here here's the next call for you.
Speaker 2 (37:23):
Here, that's funny.
Speaker 8 (37:25):
Hey West, Hey Sophie. Okay, So here's my situation. I
have a friend. She calls me probably twice a month
to catch up. But when she's on the phone, she's
always doing something else. Like she's driving, so I hear
the air conditioned the wind blowing on the line, or
(37:45):
she hits a stretch where the reception is breaking up,
or she's shopping and talking to the cashier or salesperson
while I'm on the phone with her. She means, well,
but it's a little annoying. So would you say something
to her about these distractions or just suck it up
because she means well, all right, love your podcast.
Speaker 1 (38:09):
Here's the thing. People in this life are very very busy.
If this friend of yours is making the time to
talk to you, I think, and I don't want to
be harsh here, but I think you should be appreciative
of the fact that she's taking the time to talk
to you. I think expecting her to be sitting still
on her couch with no sounds in the background is
(38:32):
asking a little much of your friend. I think you
don't have to talk to if you're kind of annoyed
with the distractions, and maybe you can like avoid the calls,
but I don't.
Speaker 5 (38:43):
I think asking someone.
Speaker 1 (38:45):
To dedicate their physical selves to your phone calls is.
Speaker 5 (38:51):
A little steep. If I'm going to be totally honest, and.
Speaker 1 (38:55):
You sound nice, but I just I don't think Sophie
or I would ever have the time to like call
each other and not have other things going on in
the background.
Speaker 2 (39:03):
It's kind of just like how it is. Yeah, I
will say too, depending on your relationship, if you guys
are talking like every day or at least every week,
that you should maybe feel comfortable enough to be like, hey,
can I just have like five minutes of your undivided
attention and no distractions, Like, if you really feel a
certain way, you could always go that route. I will say,
Like my mom, she literally is, like Wes said, she
(39:24):
is going twenty four to seven, and so I only
get phone calls when she's pretty much like in the
car driving, so like there's always back roads area it's
breaking up there you. So I just feel like a
lot of people have a lot on their plate. But
if you do feel certain way, just has a conversation
that can't hurt anything.
Speaker 1 (39:40):
I also think if this, if this was something like
you reached out to her and you were like, hey,
I'm in need of advice or I need you to
hear me out, or I need you to like give
me x y Z on something that's super important to you,
then maybe then she owes you or like some undivided attention.
But if you guys are just doing weekly catchups, like
she's gonna be in the fucking car, you know what
(40:02):
I mean, Like, that's just kind of how it goes. Yeah,
my dad's called me from on a fucking horse for
the last five years of my life. So best of luck.
I don't she does mean well, so just trying not to,
you know, let it ruin your phone calls.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
That's tough love, keV. That's the first time we had
to get some tough love.
Speaker 9 (40:24):
Hey, guys, I'm doing a research project on how the
competitive nature of the game impacts are daily lies. So
I myself am a competitor and I grew up like
doing sports and everything. How does your competitive nature also
(40:45):
impact your daily lies? Thanks guys, Love you guys, and
love the podcast.
Speaker 2 (40:49):
By great question Sophie. Move first, So I feel like
I'm super competitive in everything. I do, but I think
that I have. I talked to a sports side guy,
and I think that I've learned to channel it, and
so I think that everything has to be a competition.
I think maybe from a young age that's where like
(41:10):
a lot of kids found like they belonged or found
that that's when their friends wanted to be around them more,
their parents were proud of them, and so there's like
a lot of attachment to being competitive because it leads
to probably success or applause or anything like that. And
so I just kind of learned to like unlearn and
decomputerize what I've always been taught. And so for me,
(41:34):
I think it's awesome to be competitive, like you want
to be your best self, you want to push yourself
to be the best version of yourself. But I think
also with being competitive, that means you're gonna fail and
you're gonna learn things, maybe sometimes the hard way, But
I don't think that's a bad thing. I think failure
is actually a really good thing. And so for me,
I think it's chailing it, like you don't want to
be a competitive person and absolutely everything you do in
(41:55):
life that's not healthy. But I do think that a
lot of companies, A lot of people they like competitive
people because they know that they're going to work hard
and they're gonna push themselves to be successful. So I
think it's it's a fine line to walk of being
it but also knowing when to kind of let down
your card and not be competitive. Mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (42:18):
I am much like I'm like pretty chill, I would
say in most things in life. But like obviously as
a I like athlete, I have it in me. I
think I'm more so am competitive maybe with myself. I
just like to like prove things, and I always have
(42:41):
and kind of like reach for things that I didn't
think I could ever do, and then like usually if
you do that enough, something kind of sticks.
Speaker 2 (42:50):
I just Okay, oh god, I'm already cringing out from
what I'm about to say. But I've seen I've seen
this quote before and it's shoot for the moon because
you're bound to land amongst the stars. Just yah. But
(43:11):
that said though, I think.
Speaker 1 (43:15):
It helps because you if you're always trying to be
the best and keep doing new things and always trying
to win at every little thing you do, I think
you build up a confidence that you can do these things,
and then you kind of just always keep pushing yourself
to like accomplish things that you never thought you would before.
Speaker 2 (43:32):
And this is like very broad, but.
Speaker 1 (43:36):
I agree, and I'm surprised Sophie said that being competitive
in every aspect of your life is unhealthy, because I
would agree it's okay to like relax and I think
if you're life's not always going to be perfect and
you can't let when things go like wrong like ruin
your whole fucking yeah day and week and year, you know,
So it's good finding a balance for like what works
(43:58):
for you. But I will say if that, well, I
just want to tell her, if she's the team and
anyone bullies any of your teammates, you should grab them
by the back of the neck and give them a
couple upper cuts underneath the basket, because.
Speaker 5 (44:13):
That's what we do.
Speaker 2 (44:14):
