Former NFL scout John Middlekauff is reacting LIVE immediately following the Week 12 Thursday Night Football matchup between Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills on the road vs. the Houston Texans. John kicks things off by reacting to Josh Allen and the Bills losing effort vs. a dominant Texans defense. John debates if the Super Bowl window for the Bills has closed. John then gives props to the Texans for surviving star QB C.J. Stroud's concussion, and believe that no one wants to see the Texans defense in the playoffs. John then explains why Dallas Cowboys wide receivers Ceedee Lamb and George Pickens are ZONED IN after their dominant performance vs. the Raiders in Week 11. John then reacts to a report about the Minnesota Vikings trying to fix QB J.J. McCarthy's throwing mechanics midseason. Speaker 1 (00:01):
The volume. What is going on everybody? How are we
doing on this Fugazi Friday? Brought to you by my

(00:21):
friends at Zone Pouches. And it turns out the Bills
might be the biggest fugazi of them all. They lose
to the Texans on Thursday Night Football to fall to seven,
seven to four, looking way up at the Patriots, who
if they win this week, are in complete control of
the division and the Bills, but gotta be fighting for

(00:42):
a wild card. What a dominant performance by the Texans defense.
We will dive into that game. Something I saw from
Ceee Lamb and George Pickens that actually makes me like
them a lot more. Reminds me of my youth when
it comes to pro sports. J McCarthy, we'll have stuck
you on as well, So big big Friday show. Well

(01:05):
I think we'll have a Saturday mail bag as well too,
So getting us ready for you know, the weekend before Thanksgiving.
We got a bunch of good games next week. Else
a little hit or missed this weekend, but we'll get
fired up tonight. Tonight was that that was pretty rivitic television.
Not gonna lie. I mean, when you factor in two

(01:26):
playoff teams. I don't know if Texans end up making it,
but that defense pretty That defense is no joke. But
you guys know the drill. Make sure you subscribe to
the podcast. If you listen on Collins Feed, make sure
you subscribe to the YouTube page. Just type in my name,
subscribe and never miss a thing. Other than that, we'll
just keep the content flowing. But before we dive into

(01:47):
some football, I gotta tell you about my friends Zone
pouches and quick warning, this product contains nicotine. Nicotine is
an addictive chemical underage sale prohibit. If you're as competitive
as I am, you always are looking for something to
help you stay dialed in. So what I just had
to do during that game, and that thing for me
is Zone pouches. You won't catch me without my can

(02:11):
of mints. I have a big delivery coming though, not
to mention twenty pouches per can versus the fifteen the
other guys offer. Chew Zone and dominate the day. Use
the promo code number three and out twenty at nicokick
dot com for twenty percent at checkout. Let's just dive
into this game. Obviously, the Texans win twenty three to nineteen.

(02:32):
It I don't know if I've ever seen anything quite
like it. As someone texts me, when you sack Josh
seven or eight times, that's the equivalent of like fifteen
for another team. That was as big of an ass
kicking from a front four to an offensive line as
you will see all season long, especially when you're factoring.

(02:54):
We're not that far removed just a couple months that
the Buffalo Bills were the betting favorite to win the
AFC and win the Super Bowl. They were a gigantic
favorite at the beginning of the year to win the division,
a division in which they have dominated for years. Obviously,

(03:16):
the super Bowl feels like a mile away from this team.
The division feels all but over, and it's not even
Thanksgiving because it's not just like, well, John, we still
got Josh Allen. Yeah, you had Josh Allen against Texans.
You kind of got worked and like it's not his fault.
You have a superhuman player. Obviously, tonight I wouldn't say

(03:38):
was his best effort, though I'm not sure what he
can do. We'll dive into the players around him. But
this Bills team is extremely flawed, and tonight clearly wasn't
good for them. On the injury front, Lots lost, multiple defenders,
Cook got banged up their weapons, They're already missing Kincaid,
Keon Coleman pissed off someone really really bad. He can't

(04:01):
even get a helmet and shoulder pads on game day anymore.
But the fascinating part of this game was it was
strength on strength. The reigning MVP, a guy that just
had six touchdowns or counted for six touchdowns three throwing
three on the ground four days ago, as dominant a
physical specimen as there is in the league when he's

(04:21):
on against the defense that listen, depending on the statistic
where you want to rank them, they are as good
as any and Daniel Hunter looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger in
nineteen seventy nine. Will Anderson is as good of a
young player as there is in the NFL any position
that includes quarterback. All of their dbs can run, catch

(04:45):
the ball, and hit. Their defensive coaching is pretty elite
when you factor in how good Demiko is. Matt Burk's
doing a really good job obviously as well calling the plays.
But Josh lost, and the offense lost, and the Texans
defense completely controlled that game. Really about the second quarter

(05:06):
on in the second half, it wasn't even a fair fight.
The Bills offensive line, which is pretty good, was getting
absolutely worked on every single play, and at one point
in time in the fourth quarter, Herbstreet brings up the
Texans that only blitz four times, and on the fifth
time that's when they hit Shakir on a massive play

(05:28):
that looked like almost saved the game. He juked a
couple guys out led him the field goal. It went
from twenty three to sixteen to twenty three to nineteen. Obviously,
they couldn't score in that final drive where Shakira again
made an incredible play on a great play call by
Joe Brady on the hooking ladder, which when Josh let

(05:48):
the ball go on the hooking ladder, it was like
fourth and twenty seven. You went, I don't think that's
going twenty seven yards. Just it was awesome that that
was a great play call, but it wasn't quite enough. Then,
you know, Gave Davis's foot doesn't get come into bounds
a couple of plays later, and obviously they get stuffed
because their defensive line. Will Anderson makes a great play,

(06:11):
but the right tackle was getting abused all night. Dion Dawkins.
I don't know if it was the Texan speed. He
does look a little heavy to me. I know he
is a bigger guy, but he looked extremely slow out there.
He had an awful false start at the end of
the game, and even Herbstreet was like, that's what happens
when you're terrified about getting smoked off the edge. And

(06:34):
the Texans team speed just was just elite and the
Bills really had no answers and if their offense doesn't dominate,
they're screwed. A couple weeks ago, as Josh said, he
played terribly. What happened? They got destroyed by Miami. Last
week they were in trouble, like Sean Tucker looked like Ladanian,

(06:56):
Tomlinson or Marshall Fulk. You go, is Tampa really gonna
go to Buffalo and win this game? Well no, Josh
is like, I'm gonna score six touchdowns and make sure
we don't lose this game. And today they were gonna
need that again. But that's not possible against this defense.
And that's the Bills problem. They're not a well rounded team.
Their defense win healthy is questionable. Their defense after to

(07:20):
night when you're missing multiple guys because they're getting injured
in the game. You lose a first round pick, you
lose one of your better linebackers. All of a sudden,
your defense is bad. There was a moment in the
first half when Ray Davis takes the kickoff to the house,
which was an awesome play, right bounces off his own blocker.
Both the defenders go to make a tackle. He bounces right,

(07:43):
does a spin move they with He takes it to
the crib. They take the lead. Davis Mills, a backup quarterback,
gets the ball back under two minutes, drives right down
the field touchdown. To me that moment, before the second
half even happened, I went, if you can't in a
massive spot, just at minimum hold the Texas to a

(08:05):
field goal attempt. Let alone, just not let them cross
the fifty as a defense. This is not c J. Stroud,
This is not Patrick Mahomes, is not Lamar Jackson, this
is not Drake Man the Patriots. This is Davis freaking Mills,
who right down the field touchdown. Go to half. You
don't have the lead, I went, I'm out. You have

(08:28):
one thing is consistent in football, I would I say
high school football. Haven't watch high school football in a while,
but definitely college football in the NFL. You have no
chance to win a championship. Hell, you have no chance
to really make hay in the playoffs if your defense
is not good. I don't care who your quarterback is.

(08:49):
And obviously the Bills have a fantastic quarterback. Their defense
isn't good enough. You don't need to be the Texans
on defense. That's best case scenario. Your defense just has
to be capable. And tonight, not only are they not capable,
they do not look good. They do not look like
they have the personnel. And then offensively, their margin Ferrera

(09:10):
in Buffalo is pretty small. Why I was thinking this tonight.
Obviously their GM in the aggregate has done a good job.
Him and Sean were a big reason Josh Allen got
drafted like that, When you make that draft pick kind
of carries you for a long time. But once you
get six, seven, eight years into the career, especially once

(09:32):
you start paying him a ton of money that they've
made some other personnel mistakes, like paying von Miller a
lot of money, that money still carries on their salary cap.
Their left tackle makes a lot of money. James Cook
now makes a lot of money. They paid Joey Bosa
this year, what twelve thirteen million dollars. They have paid
some people some money. You need to take advantage in
the draft. And they drafted Keon Coleman. Who listen, I'm

(09:54):
not going to act like I'm playing Monday Morning quarterback.
I like the pick, I like the player. Loved him
at Florida State. Clearly they already had Khalil Shakir, who
is an excellent player. He was awesome the night. That
is a winning football. You can go to war against
the Chiefs, against the Ravens, against the Texans, big time defenses,

(10:16):
big time teams with that guy. But he needs help.
You have a great running back. I know he's banged up,
but like James Cook is a high end player, you
did need a big, physical wide receiver. A year and
a half in, he was inactive on Sunday and then
four days later after Dion Dawkins after the game was like, listen,

(10:36):
we're not gonna dwell on this, We're gonna move forward.
We talked to him, head up, keep on rolling. Well.
To me, something doesn't that up Like this is more
than just like missed the meeting, slept through something like,
clearly they are pissed off on you. They are down
on you as a player because four days later you're
inactive again, and let's face it, a must win game.

(11:00):
This falls on the organization. And then when you look
at the following picks of teams that are good, the
next pick and listen, the Bills weren't gonna take Lad mccaukey. Now,
Lad mccaukey's probably a better player than Shakir, but like
they already have their version and Seque's damn good. But
Lad mccaukeye's drafted the next player. My point is the Chargers,

(11:22):
immediately a playoff team, get one of the best players
on their team. And then let's just say, okay, well
you could have used defensive players. Let's pick a couple
other playoff teams a couple selections later. The Philadelphia Eagles,
you know who, they took Cooper Dejean. Last time I checked.
That guy's pretty good. The Los Angeles Rams, they're pretty good,
took Braydon Fisk. You know, you could use a big

(11:43):
time defensive lineman the Bills. That is your job to
get this right. And when you draft key On Coleman
pick thirty three. On a roster like this that is
extremely top heavy with money, you gotta take advantage of
your picks. Listen, like, is Zavier worthy of how good
he he plays for the Chiefs? They depend on the
guy Wiggins, the corner from Clemson who's on the Ravens.

(12:07):
Every time I look up, he's making plays. So those
picks in the late twenties, early thirties for the good teams,
whether you stay there in the twenties or you trade
back to thirty three, thirty four to thirty five, you
gotta fucking make hay because those guys you get impact
starters for cheap money. And the Bills a year and
a half into this guy he can't even dress on
game days because who knows. You know, Sean mcdermot's pretty

(12:30):
tight lift, and the Bills aren't some leaky organization, but
clearly something's going on. They're they're extremely doubt on him.
So let's call a spade a space. That pick currently
is a disaster because I'm watching today kind of could
he use someone I don't know to help them out?
But he's sitting on this in the sideline with a
T shirt, And I'm not blaming them for not having

(12:53):
him active. Clearly, they have their reasons. They've proven to
be a high level organization, they know what they're doing.
But they picked the guy and he can't contribute. And
let's face it, on the totality, like he's been pretty underwhelming.
So then when you factor in like you're an offensive team,
your offensive line is getting their ass kicked through the
first half. Josh Allen, do you have one hundred yards?

(13:15):
Davis Mills outplayed him in the first half. Now, part
of it's not even his fault. You only ask secure
to throw to really, and he's running for his life,
and Josh Allen typically when he's running for his life
can run away from most people. You're not running away
from Will Anderson. You're not running away from I just
can't get over how big daneil Hunter's arms are, Like,

(13:35):
I mean, I do some curls sometimes at what's he do?
I would love to ask him, like do you slow
release the down part of the curl? How do you
get the biceps that big? He is a monster. I mean,
those two guys, what are you supposed to do? If
you're the Bills, you at least got to neutralize them
a little bit and they really had no answers all

(13:57):
game long. And I like most people, I mean, they've
been one of the premium teams in the league now
for six seven years, since Josh has become a star.
I don't remember him getting his ass kicked and just
consistently hawked and thrown to the ground play after play
after play. Honestly, if you just ask someone, if they

(14:19):
didn't have the box score up, how many times the
night was Josh allensacked, you might say fifteen. It felt
like he was on the ground every other play. It's
honestly pretty nuts that they had a chance to win
the game. They had the ball with a couple timeouts,
driving the field against one of the best defense in
the league. Now, part of that is they hit a

(14:39):
hooking ladder, but the strength of their team got destroyed.
And if the strength of your team, even if you
were playing one of the best units in the league,
you at least have to be a push, right, especially
in a game like this. Now, listen, these Thursday night
games on the road. This is not it's not like
they're hopping on train like this is a several hour flight.

(15:02):
My guess is Buffalo to Houston three and a half
four hours. I mean, it's a long flight. That is
not an easy trip. This is not an easy game.
This would be one of those games at the beginning
of the season you think you could drop, but when
you drop the Dolphins game a couple weeks ago, you
can't drop this one, not when the Patriots keep winning.
So I'm just stunned, and I think this lost tonight's

(15:26):
on the front office, picking the wrong players, not having
enough talent on defense, picking the wrong player a year
ago at pick thirty three. That draft pick was extremely
important for the Buffalo Bills, and he can't even dress
on game day. I can't stress to you enough how
big of a disaster that is. I mean, seriously, to

(15:50):
pick thirty three when you are a super Bowl caliber
team a year and a half in, can't dress on
game day, because it's clearly about more than just sleeping
in in the meeting. You don't think he's good enough.
You thought your offense was better without him, and that's
an indictment. So for as much as I bet everyone's
gonna shoot on Sean McDermott and listen, when you're a

(16:11):
defensive coach and your defense looks like that and It's
clearly you're the guy calling the defense. You bear that
right and you you have a lot of pull in
the draft when you're drafting defensive players over the years,
you take responsibility on that. But the the key on Coleman,
move man, and then like when you have a good
offensive line, like they got to show up and they

(16:32):
look they look slow, they looked injured, they look fat.
I mean they just I don't know how much I
like Dean Dokins. I have a lot of respect for him,
his entire story coming from Temple, you know, non like
top ten pick becoming a high end left tackle. Looks
like he weighs like three hundred and seventy pounds. You
can't play against Will Anderson and daneil Hunter when you're

(16:55):
you know, carrying all that extra weight. Obviously, he's a
big guy. It's not like he's gonna wait two hundred
and ninety pounds, but just looks so stiff and look
he had no shot and the right tackle is getting
spun like a dradle. So if you're a Bills fan,
I think you got to ask yourself as are is
the window kind of over? Like this little run of

(17:15):
this group. Obviously with Josh, he's not gonna go away,
but does kind of feel that way. And if I
was a betting man, like I don't see this team
making a run in the playoffs. Honestly, you could argue
that the Texans, if they were to get in, would
be scarier. Now, still don't love their offense. You know
that they are very dependent, and I like what he

(17:37):
marks has been pretty impressive. But you Saturday Night, the
more carries a guy he got little banged up. You know,
when Chubb comes in, he lacks some juice, nothing but
respect for that guy battling through that knee injury. But
no longer quite has the same explosion. But that defense,
holy shit, Like that defense on any playoff game could

(17:57):
beat any team that they can be, and they done, Demiko,
Nick Cassario. They deserve a lot of credit because early on,
like I was out of it's like this the A
line sucks, this coordinator sucks. This team's in shambles. And
then a couple of weeks ago, once CJ gets the concussion,
You're like, this thing's over, Like, listen, is he perfect? No,

(18:22):
Davis mill is a pretty damn good backup. Missed a
couple throws early in that game, but just kept swinging,
kept throwing, kept chucking. It made some plays. Honestly, I
felt like the offensive coordinator called passes when he have
called runs. It's like, Bro, you can be conservative here,
just run out the clock. I know you got faith
in this guy. Stanford guy, smart guy, good player for

(18:46):
a backup. Honestly, he's probably he's probably better than a backup,
but he's not quite good enough to be a top
twenty starter. He's kind of in that no man's land.
But he's gonna play in the NFL for a long time.
And it does look for these last couple games like
he's kind of saved there season. I mean a couple
weeks ago, what were they down twenty eight to ten
or something to the Jags in the fourth quarter, came

(19:06):
storming back. He made a bunch of plays tonight, threw
a couple of touchdowns. Google how many Josh through He
threw zero? So I mean it's just he came through
and obviously defensively, I just can't get over I love.
You know, in sports is specifically football, when you make
a really bold move right, clearly the organization and it

(19:28):
felt like the owner kind of pressed them to take CJ.
Stroud and I obviously I don't regret doing that, but
they loved Will Anderson and they came back from twelve
to three. They gave a pick twelve picked thirty three
and the following year's number one. When you make a
trade like that, you better nail it. And it so

(19:48):
why there's a lot of pressure on the Jags with
Travis Hunter. It's like, you know, you went from five
to two, you trade another first round pick. This guy
better be like Deon Sanders two point zero or something,
or this is not gonna age. Well, well, I got
news for you. The Will Anderson pick was a hit.
That trade was worth it because he's as good of

(20:09):
as any player under twenty five in the NFL. I
mean his I remember when he was coming out to
talk about his football character, like in scouting circles at
the Combine. The Pro Day was as good as it gets.
Like from a football character standpoint, means how hard he trains,

(20:30):
how seriously he takes everything surrounding the rehab, the lifting,
the film, study, practice habits, how much he loves football,
how into it he is. Obviously when you watch him
play NFL games, he jumps off the screen. As a guy,
you can't play any harder. You literally, you know, like
Max Crosby when you're watching him, it's like, you can't

(20:51):
play any harder than this. And when you have talent
and your effort is ten out of ten, you're gonna dominate.
He reminds me a little bit. It's not at apples
to apples comparison, but a little bit of a young
Khalil Mack. I'd argue, you know, Khalil might have had
a little more natural bend maybe, but will Will Anderson's motor,

(21:14):
you could argue beside, Max Crosby is as good as
anyone in the NFL. So when you're the number three
overall pick from Alabama and you have the second best
motor in the NFL, you're probably gonna be pretty good.
And especially when you're playing across from daneil Hunter, who
again I think besides like Arnold Schwarzenegger in nineteen eighty two,
no one has bigger biceps in the last forty years

(21:36):
in America than that guy. That they are just that
they jump off the screen. So it's like, oh, you
can bend the edge and you're six foot five and
yet you have those pythons. That's what a defensive ends
supposed to look like. So just an ass kicking. I
know it was twenty three nineteen, it didn't feel that close.
I mean that that was a really, really impressive performance

(21:59):
by the Houghston tens with their backup quarterback, just defense
buckling their chin straps and fucking cracking skulls all night.
There were a couple of times. I mean, Josh Allen
is kind of Roethlisberger and Cam Newton. Even when he
gets sacked, you expect him to hop back up. There
are a couple of times a night it's like, man,
he's gonna need some help. Did he just break a

(22:19):
collar bone, He's got the wind knocked out of him.
They just break his wrist and every time you kind
of shake it off, but he's not gonna feel good
getting out of bed tomorrow morning. Neither are anyone on
the bills because I think they're kind of looking and
if you're Sean McDermott, now I think you know they
lose that job. I think if you're gonna put Sean,

(22:43):
you gotta put the GM as well, because like Keon Coleman,
that's that's a plood on his hands. I mean, it's
just one of those situations where you kind of hit
the nuke button. Is it something that if you're the
ownership you kind of hesitate to do because you know
he got Josh Allen? Or does that actually put more
pressure on you to we got to go all in

(23:05):
because we have Josh Allen. Who are your options? Right?
A couple of years ago, you could have hired Jim Harbaugh. Well,
you're looking around. Last year, you could have hired Mike Vrabel,
You're looking around, like what are you doing? Like, who's
even available? Klint Kubiak, Robert Sala. You're not gonna fire
Sean McDermott for Robert Sala. So that has to factor

(23:26):
into this. But does feel like they could free fall
a little bit because they are a flawed team with
a fantastic quarterback who I don't want to say circling
the drain, but relative to the standard in which they
are viewing themselves as a twelve to fourteen win team
competing for Super Bowls, they feel like they've taken a

(23:46):
dramatic step back, and that paints me. I mean, Josh
Allen's one of my favorite players in the League. He's
one of my favorite players to watch. But hell, Will
Anderson just threw his hat in the ring there as well.
Like I'm like, I'm a will Anderson guy. If I
was into jerseys, I'd buy a Will Anderson jersey. That
was sweet. That was if you like football, old school football.
That was fun. We don't get a lot of that anymore.

(24:08):
That feels like a throwback to like the two thousands
or the nineties. Just one team with a couple just
premium pass rushers that are We're gonna sack you ten
times tonight and the other times we don't sack yet,
we're gonna drive you into the ground. And there's not
gonna be any pansy flags for falling on you with
our weight or whatever. The bullshit stuff Roger Goodell and

(24:28):
Merton Hanks and those guys in the league office have
made up over the last couple of years to cover
their ass from lawsuits. We don't give a shit about
any of that. Send the fine to Houston, we'll pay it,
but we're gonna pepper this guy till the clock literally
went out during the game. But when it actually is running,
hits double zero. Today's show is brought to you by

them twice. You're like, did Lebron really say that?

Speaker 2 (27:00):
No?

Speaker 1 (27:00):
No, no, And then you realize it's a completely made

It's fun. That's social media. And there were some quotes
and just stories going on. I would say Instagram over

on Ceede Lamb and George Pickens and what they did

(27:22):
in Las Vegas, how basically they had gone out, they
had gambled, they had gotten drunk. And I just kept
reading this and thinking, well, I saw them play. They dominated.
The NFL is not baseball or basketball. If you are
the Cowboys and you're playing the Raiders on Monday night football,
you probably touched down in Vegas about four or five.

(27:42):
You don't eat individually. Typically you're at a hotel, not
on the strip. You have a ballroom with meeting rooms,
and the ballroom is essentially like your cafeteria, and you
have a team meal. It's not like the O Linemen
the D Lineman they're going out in Vegas eating at
steakhouses for dinner. You eat at the hotel probably from

(28:05):
six thirty to seven thirty. Cafeteria is open. You can
come down to your room and eat whenever you want.
And there was just an unlimited amount of food in
the team. The coaches, the trainers, they all eat. You
don't go out and eat. So when I saw it's
like they went out to eat, and then they clearly
verified the story of yeah, we were out, we went
to dinner aka after because usually you eat and then

(28:28):
you'll probably have a team meeting, and then maybe you'll
break into individual or unit meetings like offensive defense or
wide receiver meetings, and then you head to bed and
football players after the meeting, you'll get a thing called
snack that clearly they bypassed and just went to the
Red Rock Casino and they had a second dinner, and

(28:50):
we're having cocktails and clearly having a good time, which
kind of reminds me, this is again the night before
a game. This is type stuff that used to have
a lot. It doesn't happen as much anymore. We live
in a generation of guys that like drink green juices,
that brag about going to bed early. The athletes I

(29:10):
grew up on, Michael Jordan would drink like a twelve
pack at lunch three hours before a game. That's why
a lot of us kind of rever the guy. It's
like legendary shit. Nowadays, it's like what can we put
in the smoothie? Can I get a Can I get
an immunity blast? And listen, I'm not faulting anybody. I
try to stay focused on my health as well. But

(29:33):
there's something special about Kenny Stabler going you know what,
I studied the playbook by the light of the jukebox
for those of you kids, that's something that used to
play music in the seventies at the bar the night
before the game. And Al Davis's teams and most teams
in the seventies and eighties were notorious for just drinking, boozing,
smoking all the time and playing ball. Those days are

(29:56):
clearly over way more money online. You don't have as
much going on, and that generation of player the seventies,
the eighties, the nineties, hell even the two thousands, if
you would have had a team in Vegas, there would
have been a lot of shenanigans going on. I've thought
ever since the team moved to Vegas. In this modern
day time, especially in the NFL, you're only there for
twenty four hours. No one's gonna stay on the strip.

(30:19):
Nothing even crazy is gonna happen. All these guys just
go to bed, play the game the next day. Not
George Pickens and Ceedee Lamb. Here's the problem though, if
you're a Raider fan. They literally are admitting that they
got caught staying out late boozing the night before a game.
They combined for fourteen catches, two hundred yards and two touchdowns.
The Raiders wide receivers and tight ends combined for two

(30:42):
hundred and thirty eight yards. They outgained two guys who
were hungover, didn't even take you seriously enough as an
opponent to just go to bed at a decent time.
You outgained them by thirty eight yards as an entire
team and did score one less touchdown than them. So
you talk about two guys who just said, we're living,

(31:03):
We're gonna go booze hell, we might play a little craps,
maybe a little blackjack. We're gonna have a good time
in Vegas. We don't give a shit. And you know
what I can what I like about Jerry Jones? Where's
Jerry from seventies, eighties and nineties. What's he known for?
A team that literally had something called the White House
where they did crack and hookers all the time? Was
very normal. Again, crack that cocaine, That's what they were

(31:27):
doing in the nineties, Jared. You know why Jerry didn't care.
The guy to lead the charge was Hall of Fame
wide receiver teams that I grew up watching it all
the time. It was well known, everyone talked about it.
It was funny kinda not really when he was going
through the trial, but other than that, like huge part
of the documentary. So I just appreciate that we just

(31:47):
have a couple throwbacks in a day and age where
everyone's talking about health and wellness and going to bed
on time. I don't mind an athlete every once in
a while a couple hours sleep, going for two bills
and two tough and just going. You can't stop me.
I don't give a shit whether I had seven cocktails
or seven Gatorays, it doesn't matter. And for George Pickens

(32:10):
and Ceedee Lamb, you gain my respect. Props to you guys.
What else is going on? One thing I just want
to hit on is there was an article that came
out on ESPN dot com today about JJ McCarthy and
it's about a lot of different things, but he's talked

(32:31):
about this, Yeah, I saw who he was discussed this
at his press conference today. Is they're trying to rewire
his brain because they're rewiring his mechanics and they're trying
to change his muscle memory, which is obviously very very
difficult to do in professional sports. And a couple of
years ago and I said this, why I didn't believe

(32:52):
in this situation, because anytime you get a raw player
and you try to mold them while they are playing
on a team with expectations to be really good, it's
going to be a disaster. I saw it with Trey
Lance and Kyle Shanahan. He was hoping that he would
be a plug and play player. He clearly wasn't. He
was gonna need a lot of work, and even if

(33:14):
he got a lot of work, there was no guarantee
he was going to be good. And they pivoted immediately.
They realized that he just didn't have the time and
they didn't have, you know, a long runway to figure
this thing out if it failed, because they were ready
to win and ready to win immediately. And obviously they
got bailed out because they drafted Rock Purty in the
seventh round, who became a really good player just through

(33:36):
three touchdowns coming back from the turf toe. Aaron Rodgers famously,
coming out of col had some weird mechanics, held the
ball really high, had kind of a funky release, and
for three years behind the scenes, he just worked at practice,
changed his muscle memory, changed his mechanics, and then by

(33:57):
the fourth year, when Ted Thompson, Ship Brett Farv. He
was able to have changed his mechanics, rewire his brain
and start for the Packers. And his first year starting
pretty sure, they went six and ten, so he got
to play for a team the expectations, lost some games,
they weren't that good, and then within a couple of

(34:17):
years he's winning MVPs and they win a Super Bowl
and the rest is history. But JJ McCarthy is not
going to be given that much time and clearly trying
to rewire. Anyone who's ever played golf and you've tried
to make a swing change, it's one thing to do
with on the practice range, right, hit some range ball.
It's like, okay, I figure something out. And then you
go to the first hole and you're playing some guy

(34:37):
for twenty fifty bucks, and all of a sudden you
pump one into the house. Why because you resort to
muscle memory that you know, not what you've been working on.
Because it takes a while to force that into the
new kind of rotation of what you're doing, and who
knows if it can even stick. So JJ McCarthy, they're
trying to change his mechanics on the fly. But me Meanwhile,

(35:00):
he's failing every Sunday. So from a confidence standpoint, it's
impossible to build any positive momentum. So this thing with
JJ McCarthy, to me, it's not apples to apples. But
this thing is Trey Lance two point zero. Clearly they
like him. The forty nine ers like Trey Lance a lot.
Is a guy. They wanted it to work, and the

(35:22):
forty nine ers gave up way more for Trey Lance
than they did for JJ McCarthy. But there is no
way when you have elite players at different positions and
a ready to make team in terms of guys under
contract impact players, that you can do this and have
it be successful. It will not work. So I would
expect this weekend against the Packers in Lambeau. This was

(35:47):
a situation that obviously they talked themselves into. But you
can't convince me Thanksgiving year two that they already know
that this is this thing's over before it even started.
And uh, you know, I don't really have a Fugazi
here on Fugazi Friday, but I was thinking this. We

(36:08):
have a lot of young people that listen to show
a lot of young dudes, you know, in their twenties
and obviously for most of you in your twenties, probably
aren't making that much money, probably rent some little shitty apartment,
and just I've been there, most of us have, you know,
in looking back when you're in it, sometimes it's not

(36:28):
always the most fun. You don't have that much disposable income.
You got six hundred square feet, you don't have that
much money to do fun stuff, but you don't really
have responsibilities. I think sometimes, you know Lane Kiffin's been
saying this, Sometimes you're in the good old days and
you don't even realize you're in the good old days,

(36:50):
and then all of a sudden you look at you're
forty one years old and you have a leak in
your roof, you have a broken pipe in your driveway
just spewing water all over the place, you have a
baby on the way, with dealing with insurance companies, and
you realize, I can't even sleep. I got so much stuff.

(37:10):
I don't even know who to call, Like, where do
I even start? With this water main just going all
over the cul de sac I live in. What do
I do? And you can't call the landlord because you're
the landlord, So you have to figure out who to call,
and you have no clue. And I think sometimes younger people,
it's easy to get mad, it's easy to get bitter.

(37:32):
And I've been there. I've been mad and bitter. I
didn't have more money in my bank account, my apartment
wasn't bigger, or that when the ac broke that I
had to call my landlord and he said, a.

Speaker 2 (37:44):
Guy will be there.

Speaker 1 (37:45):
Can't make to day, He'll be there the first thing
in the morning. And then you look back and you go, God,
I wish I could just call a landlord right now
to fix my problems, because I got some problems got
I got water coming in from the roof, coming in
from the front yard, I got as looking at me
side eyes, and I don't know who to call. So
this is just enjoy your time being young with no responsibilities,

(38:08):
and when shit hits the fan, you can always call
someone and you put the responsibility on them and you
just sit there, open the door when they send help.
And when the bill comes, you send it to that
guy because you don't have to pay it. So hopefully
everyone's doing well. Put a smile on your face. And
if you're a Bill's fan, I feel sorry for you.

(38:35):
I do need to tell you about my friends, my partners.
The official ticketing app of this podcast, Game Time, and
do you want to go to one of these games?
Money Night Football tomorrow is in Vegas, and a huge
part of building that stadium was like, we're gonna get
a bunch of opposing fans to fly into Vegas, spend
way too much money and stay in one of these hotels,
gamble and come to the games. So if you want

(38:57):
to go to a game, even a road game, you
can find NFL tickets is low as one hundred dollars.
You can find flash deals, you can search by arena,
you can search by the team obviously, any other sport,
any concert, any event you want to go to. They
have you covered. So take the guest work out of
buying tickets with game time down the game Time app,
create an account and use the code John for twenty
dollars off for his purchase terms. To play again, create

(39:18):
an account, redeem the code John for twenty dollars off
down the game time. After today last minute ticket's lowest
price is guaranteed. Okay, back at it again with my
main man from the Action Network. All of our lines
are presented by our friends and our partners at hard

(39:40):
Rock bet Stucky. The slate, I wouldn't call it the
greatest slate in the world. We've got a couple of
good games. I had a rough I've had a rough year.
But how you doing, bro.

Speaker 2 (39:53):
Good going through the grind? College basketball? Now back in
the heart to college football and NFL. I can't believe
it's Week thirteen of college football, Week twelve of the NFL.
It always goes by so fast. But yeah, no sleep,
just grinding. But I always tell myself it's a labor
of love. I always say that I do love going

(40:14):
through the grind. But whenever I get tired, I'm like
just thinking in June, when you're dying for football, have
some gratitude. So yeah, just continuing on, trying to find winners.
That's what it's all about.

Speaker 1 (40:27):
I got my fix in I was watching I needed
a little sports hit on a Wednesday. Wednesday night, I
was watching Arizona Yukon. Dan was in rare form. I
mean he was on tilt. They lost. But you know,
college The good thing about Nil, I feel like it's
revamped college basketball, like college football has been rolling now
for a while. It just feels like and I think

(40:50):
Alabama Illinois came on right after. These games just feel big.
I mean, these universities. I mean it's become pro sports light.

Speaker 2 (40:58):
Right, Yeah, I like I think these early season games
when they're on campus in particular, it's it's just such
a better feel for college basketball. But yeah, Arizona picked
up a huge win. They've been super impressive. They've won like,
they've won in a multitude of ways against really good
teams so far this year. Like they've wanted to shootout,

(41:19):
they want to grinder versus u c LA, and they've
been really impressive. Bradley's been really good closing out games.
They have the stud freshman Pete, so it's they look
they look really good. And it's kind of like college
football that I don't think that there's gonna be one

(41:39):
dominant team and there's like amongst the top of the
of all of college basketball, there's gonna be like a
lot of parody where you're gonna have a lot of
teams and that makes the tournament more interesting. It's kind
of like that in college football, although maybe Ohio State
is that team again this year, but you now have
just like you're your second best team through your tenth, twelve,

(42:03):
there's not that much separation. Then it's gonna make for
a more interesting playoff. Although we don't need to expand anymore.
I'm seeing the Big ten now proposing like twenty four teams. Ooh,
we don't need to go to twenty four.

Speaker 1 (42:14):
And play well, if it was twenty four, Texas would
be like in the Driver's seed as like the fourteen seed.
It's like they watched them play. They're not what are
we doing? Twelve twelve's off? It was fine, and it's
it's they need to tweak it to I guess they
don't want to get sued. But the non power five
team or power four team on a given year, like
Boise last year, round the table. I got no problem

(42:36):
over the course TCU back in the day the Utahs
before you know, those teams jumped up. They had individual seasons.
But if there's not an individual season that's worthy, you
don't just get a seat at the table. That's yeah,
you know, that's the thing with the NFL, Like that's
the one thing with college. You're in your way. But
it's still kind of subjective. Like in the NFL, it's
pretty black and white, right which to get the seventh

(42:58):
seed like you might have you're gonna have to certain
tie breakers or whatever. But there's no subjectivity to the
fourteen teams that make it in the NFL, which in
college clearly that there's a lot. I mean, hell, Notre
Dame in Miami is going to be a major story
over the next couple of weeks.

Speaker 2 (43:13):
Oh yeah, yeah, I mean maybe if you didn't like yeah,
I mean, it's it's tough to just completely worry about
lawsuits and excluding half of college football. But I think
eventually one day we're gonna have just like FBS FBS Light,
which is like Power four, and maybe there's like mega conferences.
I don't even know how it's going to go, but
maybe you just have like the four top conference champions,

(43:39):
because there's there's an argument there's a chance that the
like if Duke ended up winning the ACC, they might
not have gotten in with four losses, Like you could
have had two group of five teams get in over
the ACC champ. So yeah, the ACC is really down
this year overall, Like we're most likely going to get

(43:59):
you or to Tech, who could have lost to Wake Forest,
they could have lost to Boston College. For Virginia Virginia
should have like four or five losses this year, Like
that's the most likely ACC Championship game, So their way
down the Big twelve is basically just Texas Tech. Utah
is playing really well with their path to get theirs
very difficult.

Speaker 1 (44:19):
So Utah would be a worthy playoff team right now.
I just don't know if they're going to get in.
But the.

Speaker 2 (44:25):
EYU to lose the Sincy and they need, like Arizona
State to lose to Colorado, like Arizona State, BYU lose
the CINCI there two and a half point favorite on
the road, they very well could lose. Arizona State could
be the team that gets back to the Big tach Championship,
but they don't have their their quarterback.

Speaker 1 (44:44):
So I do think their coach, I mean, over the
next ten days, I don't think it's inconceivable that Kenny
Dillingham's like the coach at LSU.

Speaker 2 (44:52):
Yeah, I'm interested to see what he takes because he's
like all in on his university and but money always talks,
So it would be a big loss for the Sun
Devils because he's doing a great job there. But yeah,
if you're the other game, the biggest swing game of
the weekend is USC Oregon. Like the loser of that

(45:12):
is out. The winner of that is in really good
spot to make the college football playoff. And if I mean,
if say Oregon wins this week and then loses next
week at Washington, which is certainly possible. Washington some offensive
line injuries. Two of their best players Boston their Boston

(45:33):
NFL wide receiver and Coleman, a NFL future running back.
I think they'll both be back, but they have some
injuries worth watching. But say Oregon beats USC and then
loses to at Washington next week, I mean, the Big
ten only gets two in and then you have one
from the Big twelve, one from the ACC one group

(45:57):
of five. I mean you're talking maybe six seven SEC teams,
depending on what happens with some of them.

Speaker 1 (46:04):
Don't you think it'd be I mean, let's I think
Oregon is gonna house USC. I mean, this is a
bad you know, this.

Speaker 2 (46:10):
Is USC down the road just never. They just can't
travel for some reason.

Speaker 1 (46:15):
And honestly, even last week they're twenty one to ten.
It's in the rain. If you would have turned that
off and you said, hey, you have to bet ten
thousand dollars right now? Who wins this game? You wouldn't
be able to find a soul alive that would have
put money on USC in that moment. It had it
paralleled the feeling of that Nebraska game. Obviously the difference

(46:36):
Sebresca's quarterback. I heard Iowa was just Iowa. But I
just think that I would be stunned. And I'm not
trying to overreact to the Minnesota game, but it does
feel like Oregon's kind of figuring themselves out. Their backup
tight end is a monster, some transfer portal guy. Obviously
they're starting tight ends and stuff. They just feel like

(46:56):
this thing has got blowout. Now their rival is Washington,
so you just never know in these games. I mean,
look at Michigan last year against Ohio State. I would
be a little stunned if they have a really good
performance this week if they lost to Washington, won't you.

Speaker 2 (47:11):
It depends on how healthy Washington is. But when Washington's
fully healthy, like the the problem is what Washington this
year has rarely been fully healthy. And like, for example,
they have a a left tackle, Carver Willis, who's really good,
this freshman guard who they had to move to right tackle,
he's going to be their future left tackle. Mills, he's

(47:33):
really good. They're tackle that he had to replace Tazu Party.
He's pretty good. Their center, Hatchet's pretty good. But a
team like Washington, the biggest difference between them and in Oregon.
In Ohio State's Washington is no depth, so like they're
especially on the offensive line, like their backup left tackle
who's had a play I think three or four games.
It's just because Washington at offensive line injuries in that

(47:55):
Ohio State game, and then their offense is just crumbled.
In Ohio State, it's the best deep in the country.
If Washington's fully healthy, they are and at home they
are a different animal. And I mean, look this Oregon team.
They did lose at home to Indiana. They could have
lost that Iowa. It's you know it wasn't They weren't
that impressive at home against Wisconsin. When they play a cupcake,

(48:19):
they're like the best team in the country. They can
put it on you and I'll athlete you, but I'm
still not all the way sold on more So We'll
say I can see Washington winning that game, but they
have to be healthy. They can't go into that game
with injuries because they just that's the biggest difference between
Washington and some of these other up and the upper

(48:41):
tier teams in the Big Ten. They obviously don't have
as much talent, but like you're talking, Williams is one
of the most talented quarterbacks in the country. They have
an NFL you know, a top five back in the country,
a top five receiver in the country, good play caller,
and their offensive line has talent if it's healthy. But
the depth beyond that is it's Washington has yet to
build out their depth. So I could see the thing

(49:04):
is USC and my Aida in particular has been bad
on the road. USC under Riley forever has not been
able to travel. Now it's worse when they have to
go multiple time zones. But when you mentioned that Nebraska game, yeah,
I mean, if Marld doesn't get hurt, they lose that game,
and they just they just haven't traveled well and they
can't defend the run. They're a little soft and finesse.

(49:27):
So I'm sure that's what Oregon's gonna lean on here,
and I'm not sure that us he has any answers. Now,
could they pull off the upset? Sure, because they do
have arguably the best wide receiver duo outside of Ohio
State in the entire country in Lemon and Lane. Miami's
gonna have to Miaia is gonna have to be good though,

(49:48):
like I said, he struggled on the road, because they're
gonna have to go up points to win this game.
Because it's hard to see that. I'm keeping Oregon and
check and Oregon should be able to control the clock.
They're at home, So I think Oregon is much more
at risk of loes next week than.

Speaker 1 (50:00):
This kelsaving some NFL games. Uh. The Chicago Bears and
the Pittsburgh Steelers are currently both in first place. Neither
of them is favored to win the division. I think,
as we sit here today, or are we on the
same page that Aaron Rodgers won't play this week or
do you expect to see him?

Speaker 2 (50:20):
I think no, but you never know with Rogers, like
I don't, I don't, I don't try to predict ever
what Rogers.

Speaker 1 (50:27):
It's clearly not a catastrophic injury. It's one of those
that's just kind of like, uh, it's not it's not concrete.
No beside people inside Pittsburgh, and with Aaron it's not.
He didn't break his wrist, but it's not nothing. It's
one of those if it is just a little bone tweak,
is it something if he falls on does it get worse?
Use your left hand obviously to brace for impact when

(50:50):
you're sliding, when you're getting tackled. So it's it's not
one of those. Well, it's no big deal. It's his
non throwing hand. It is kind of a big deal,
right if it is pain and it's one of those,
but also like is it gonna get better? Is it
one of those where he has to miss a month?
I do think if Mason Rudolph comes in. Obviously, the
Bears just on a down to down basis, aren't a

(51:11):
very good defense. But they I was looking the other
day because I was looking at something on Miles Garrett
and then right below it was like the interception leaders
and the Bears have three of the top like four
guys that account for thirteen interceptions. So it's like if
you play somehow, they just get a lot of picks. Now, granted,
JJ McCarthy was just throwing it right to the guys,
but I don't know, I mean, this is you tell

(51:32):
me Mason Rudolph's playing in this game, I think I'm
hammering the Bears.

Speaker 2 (51:38):
Yeah, at three, I wouldn't mind the Steelers. I mean,
I don't think there's a huge drop off right now
between Rogers and Rudolph. I think the Steelers are a
good teasder option if you want to tease the model.
I mean, the Bears have been very, very fortunate because
of the turnovers. I mean, if you remove turnovers and
look at three EPA, they're one of the worst defenses
in the league. I mean, they have a plus sixteen

(51:59):
turnover margin that leads the league. The next best is
plus ten. They have a league high fifteen interceptions. They've
fumbled it nine times, they've only lost two. Their opponents
have fumbled it ten times. They've recovered seven of them.
So the turnovers and takeaways are masking their defensive issues.
They can't cover heavy personnel, and that's what the Steelers
are multiple tight ends. The Bears are giving up with

(52:22):
six point two yards per play against twelve personnel. They
struggle to defend the run, they struggle to get pressure.
So I think the Steelers be able to move the ball.
Now on the other side, the Bears like, look, they're
these two teams are kind of mirrors, right, Like they
have good records in first place. The Steelers always benefit
from turnover the luck and they're, like you mentioned, neither

(52:43):
a favor to win the division. If there's gonna be
some turnover luck that's coming. And the Bears have benefited
from turn oftlock on offense too, like they haven't turned
it over. The Steelers are the team to exploit that,
and the Steelers generally don't turn the ball over. So
maybe this is the game where that happens. Because yeah,
I mean you have to remember the Bears are five
to zero in one possession games. They all came in

(53:05):
the final minute against the Raiders, the Commanders, the Vikings,
the Bengals, and the Giants. We're not talking the cream
of the crap here. I mean, it's like, it's pretty
troubling that McCarthy was that bad last week. I mean,
in this guy, he has all kinds. I mean there

(53:26):
was wide open guys over. He has major mechanical issues
right now. He can't throw the left side of the field.
He's locking in his hip and it's all armed and
he can't get the ball there. I mean, he is
a fifty five percent on target throw rate to the
left side of the field. The next worst among all
quarterbacks is seventy percent.

Speaker 1 (53:46):
When you say on target, you're not saying completion, you're
just saying in the vicinity of the target was.

Speaker 2 (53:51):
It wasn't a catchable ball for the receiver. And he's
at fifty five the next versus seventy percent, he's a major.
And then like he doesn't he lacks touch on these
shore passes, So he's got They had a lot of
work to do with him, but it's very troubling in
that he was that bad for basically the entire game.
The Bears got two interceptions, they also recovered a fumble

(54:11):
that they had within in their own tent, inside their
own tent, and the Vikings somehow had the lead with
a minute to go, and then the Bears need a
kickoff return the Bears.

Speaker 1 (54:21):
If I was going to defend Caleb, the Bears drop
a lot of balls. Yes, they.

Speaker 2 (54:28):
Klebs played pretty well. I mean he does bail from
the pocket too quickly at times, like you'll just see
him one to eighty and then make something happen.

Speaker 1 (54:36):
And he breaks down a lot of sacks though, yeah,
he does.

Speaker 2 (54:40):
He's he's very elusive. So but the thing that's made
the I mean the Bears, why are they in first place?
One because their defense has gotten lucky with turnovers and
they've gotten fortune and close games to Ben Johnson. And
three this is you know, kind of a derivative of
Ben Johnson. Their run game has been cooking and they
have been and they should be able to run on Pittsburgh. Now,

(55:02):
Pittsburgh's defense have been disappointing that this year. They have
over the past few weeks they have started to change
some things schematically on a week to week basis, Like
you saw them go from heavy man to heavy zone
or two eye and more cover six like, so they're
being a little bit more unpredictable, which I think is
helping their cause because they have other issues elsewhere. But
this will probably be a close game. It'll probably come

(55:25):
down to turnovers. But there is something that the Bears
do have late, like when they have the ball and
you have Ben Jhonson and then Kayleb Williams can make
things happen with legs, like you feel confident with them
in a close game. But yeah, this is down the
two and a half. Now I have nothing here, but
at three, I would look at the Steelers two and

(55:46):
a half. I probably would tease the Steelers up, but
probably another close game. I mean that's all the Bears
have played outside of that Dallas game, and they usually
could have three or four more losses on the season.
But huge game for both teams.

Speaker 1 (55:59):
I think early returns and you never know the coordinator,
like we knew Mike Vrabel. Maybe this year is going
better than anticipated a little bit, but like he's proven
he's good head coach and he was good when he
had good players. I think Ben Johnson has immediately like
become the Midwest Kyle Shanahan, very serious, not a big
bullshit guy, and just dreams about running the ball. I mean,

(56:20):
I see a lot of similarities their personality and the
way they view football. And I think as they get
better players on defense and get healthier over the years,
that style is conduced of assuming you stay healthy, of
like creating toughness on defense, running the ball in practice.
Look at the Ravens for years. I think the Steelers
in theory, right, I think it helps create toughness in practice.

(56:41):
So I've been blown away by Ben Johnson.

Speaker 2 (56:44):
He's a start where like already to be in first
place in that division right now.

Speaker 1 (56:51):
Push pressure on the floor. It's like, okay with this
guy is no longer just the coordinator. He's the head
coach now of the Bears. Yea, and let's talk about that.
It's that game. Obviously he's under some heat and a
Giant's game was for a minute, You're like, whoa is
this he's gonna because again, it was cold, it was weird.
You can kind of feel it like it's something weird
gonna happen. Then Jordan Love hit a couple of passes

(57:12):
and everyone could take a deep breath. But also the
Jamis experience. I do think this defense has to be
just licking their lips playing this kid. I mean, I
just it might be my favorite bet of the year,
Like he's gonna go into Lambeau after all this everything
going on. I read this article today on ESPN dot com.

(57:33):
I mean, you had mentioned some of the metrics of
how they're just like redoing his mechanics on the fly.
It's like I fall golf really closely. When guys redo
their swing one, they spend a lot of time on
the range, and then when they go into tournaments they
were like, listen, I'm not expecting to play well. Yeah, okay, yeah,
it takes I mean from Tiger to random pros let alone,

(57:54):
anyone in pro sports. You mechanically change someone. Look at
Aaron Rodgers. He got to do it and practice for
three years before they ever threw him to the Wolves.
It's impossible at the highest level of sports tennis, baseball, football,
to change your mechanics in the middle of the season.
No fucking way. And even McCarthy's like, you got to
rewire your brain. So maybe big picture it can change.

(58:16):
I would bet against Usually the guys you get mentally broken,
and you can see the way guys are looking at him.
If he's able to do it, he is a Alex
Smith didn't redo his mechanics, but like mentally tough, he
like with like withstood it all and then he got
over the hump. But that's he's rare. Usually it just
breaks people. So it's not apples to apples Alex Smith

(58:37):
to McCarthy here, but Green Bay minor six and a
half is my favorite bet on the board.

Speaker 2 (58:42):
Yeah, it's like, think about it. In order to become
a pro athlete in any sport, it takes. Whether it's
a jump shot, whether it's throwing a football, you know,
a pitcher throwing a baseball, swinging a tennis rack, the
golf club. The amount of muscle memory and the amount

(59:04):
of reps that one must go through in order to
just get that down. It's something that I just don't
have a grass golfer to get to that level and
be like a starting pitcher in baseball or a starting
quarterback in the NFL. And like you said, rewire your
entire brain. There are so much muscle memory and uh,

(59:29):
just repetition there and doing something one way to change
it is going to take time and.

Speaker 1 (59:36):
If it's even possible, yeah, right.

Speaker 2 (59:38):
And right now it's it's just broken. Like last week
was I was like, okay, it's only been a couple
of starts. He's played some tough defenses, but that was
the perfect game. Like there was. It was a defensive
can't get pressure with a bunch of backup defensive backs indoors.
And he's in a good situation, like he has a
good offensive line, a good play caller, he has good receivers.

Speaker 1 (01:00:02):
And tight end backs and can catch. I mean yeah
at all.

Speaker 2 (01:00:05):
It's like as ideal of a situation as you would
want and he just couldn't hit wide open throws, whether
it's like throwing it too hard on the short ones
or just completely missing the deep ones. And I don't
know how you correct that. So I'm out on McCarthy.

Speaker 1 (01:00:24):
That out route where the Bears like it looked like,
you know, one of their backups caught it. It might have
been a wide receiver like well past Justin Jefferson who
was running probably like an eight yard out route was
like that was and the even even Tom, who was
trying to be nice, right it's a Michigan guy, was like,
I this is I don't know where he's missing. I

(01:00:44):
don't know what's going on here. What are you even
going to say unless you're just going to completely shit
on him?

Speaker 2 (01:00:49):
Yeah? It was ugly. I mean I don't to.

Speaker 1 (01:00:54):
This day, why does the coach keep calling go routes
and deeper breaking routes like I would never call those
routes for him.

Speaker 2 (01:01:01):
Yeah, it's I'm curious to see what they try to
do this week on the road in Lambeau against that defense.
That's that's gonna be tough. Now the Packers offense, I
don't like they where this they might really miss. They
missed Craft in general big time, but they might miss

(01:01:21):
him more this week against the Blitz. Like Craft against
the Blitz has been so good, and usually your tight
end is your safety valve, the guy you look for
when you're getting blitz, and we know that Flores is
gonna bring the blitz and the Packers offense in general
just there's been so many injuries that wide receiver tight

(01:01:42):
end and now you know Jacob's at running back. The
offensive line has had injuries every week. So like if
you look at metrics wise, Jordan Love is number one
in the league in EPA for dropback. There's also a
ton of drops Like you've never believe that, right, like
just watching their offense, but he's number one EPA for dropback.
But the offensive operation right now is wonky. There's something

(01:02:02):
off and it's because of the injuries, no Craft and
shuffling wide receivers in an out offensive lineman and out.
As a result, the Packers are struggling to like put
it all together on offense, and as a result, they
can't really build margin on teams like for example, the Panther,
Like they lost to the Panthers at home when Bryce
Young threw for one hundred yards.

Speaker 1 (01:02:24):
They're the Spider Man meme with the Eagles. Yes, I
mean they didn't field game.

Speaker 2 (01:02:28):
The Packers didn't punt against the Panthers. The Panthers threw
for one hundred yards and won. The Giants they like,
and you watch that game, like there was so many drops.
They drop a lot of balls. So that would be
my only fear.

Speaker 1 (01:02:44):
Eighty seven's got some I mean it's in his head.
It feels like a little bit he has something that
are like hitting him in stride. I thought he was
a stud based on last year, and this year you
watch him, you go, something's off.

Speaker 2 (01:02:54):
Yeah, he's had a couple of bad ones last week Dubbs,
but yeah, I mean.

Speaker 1 (01:02:59):
Christian Watson's infused a little life, I feel like into
their operation.

Speaker 2 (01:03:04):
Yes, he had a huge that touchdown catch was sick.

Speaker 1 (01:03:09):
And Rogers.

Speaker 2 (01:03:10):
Yeah, they should get read back, which will help, I
think for the Thanksgiving gaming against the Lions, and they're
just still trying to figure out life after Craft, so
that would be my only concern. But I certainly couldn't
look at the vikings here. The other thing is that
it is worth mentioning because you're letting six and a
half are the Packers? Can they make an extra pointer?

(01:03:31):
I get get if there's win a lot of win
last week in that life, but their kicking has been
a disaster. I mean, no matter who they have in
there all year. So that's a leady's worth noting. But
right now can't trust McCarthy, so it's Packers are nothing.

Speaker 1 (01:04:01):
Someone sent me the stat that over from eighteen to
twenty two, Mahomes on twenty plus yard passes through like
fifty two touchdowns and he almost averaged sixteen yards of
pass and over the last several years it's down under
ten and it's like five total touchdowns. And he clearly
his deep ball accuracy the last couple of years, even

(01:04:22):
when guys have been healthy, it's just been a little off.
Now part of that is his rapport with Tyreek, who
in his prime is I mean truly one of the
great talents we've ever seen. So you remove like Tyreek,
Randy Moss, whoever Terrell Owens, there's a drop off, But
like I do think there is some like Patrick's just
not quite as dominant as he was during that stretch,

(01:04:42):
and there are plays to be made. He still makes plays.
I defend him, like even when his numbers aren't great,
like you can watch it be like he plays, he's
still making some plays. But in that Denver game, and
just I would say on the totality of the last
couple of years, they massed it last year and definitely
two years ago when they won eleven games. Remember he
had that stretch where he was throwing like a pick
a game. It was like seven straight games and then

(01:05:03):
it was all came to a head on that Christmas
Day game. It was like, God, but what happened? Playoffs start, boom,
the dust settles, They're in the super Bowl, so it's like,
what do you even say? But like over the last
several years, Lamar obviously this year is weird, but Josh
and Lamar have been better players in the regular season.
But he goes, well, fuck I got you in January
and at the end of the day that matters more.

(01:05:25):
Josh and Lamar would gladly trade anything in the regular
season for what he's had in the playoffs, right and
especially in the AFC to get to the Super Bowl.
But I do think this is a big because it's weird.
Like the Chiefs for five and five, they don't feel
like a normal five and five team. I still think
they're pretty good, but something is missing. This is a
big spot at home this I mean there's a lot

(01:05:47):
of kitchen sink games. I think they through the kitchen
sink last game. Denver's good. I mean, the defense is
pretty elite. But I Daniel Jones going to go into
Kansas City with kind of their season on the line,
because all of a sudden, if the jag win, like,
you're gonna find yourself so far back, you might be screwed. Yeah,
it's I guess that's I like the Chiefs. I think

(01:06:08):
they win by a touchdown to I.

Speaker 2 (01:06:10):
Mean, yeah, Lamar is nothing to show for he's been
I mean he could have three MVPs. Lamar ever past
two seasons, has fifty seven touchdowns and seven interceptions. I
had to last week. They were both off the receiver's hands,
one off a helmet, one cortern Brayton hand. Three of
his other interceptions, one Steelers guy ripped it out of
the hands of the raid and another one went right

(01:06:33):
off the chest. He basically has two interceptions and fifty
seven touchdowns over the past two years, which is ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (01:06:41):
I mean, Josh's game on Sunday too, was like Jesus,
like what, Yeah, this guy's I mean, nothing.

Speaker 2 (01:06:47):
To show for it. So yeah, at the end of
the day, that's all anyone's gonna remember is the ploffs.
But yeah, that offense hasn't been the same, especially with
the deep passing. I look, there's there's a couple of
things a player. I mean, the Colts are coming off
of a bye. But Daniel Jones has kind of turned
back in to his true self, his true pumpkinself. I mean,
over the first eight weeks of the season, he had

(01:07:10):
three interceptions, he was sacked nine times, and he only
had two fumbles. So weeks one through eight, eight games,
only three picks, only nine sacks, two fumbles. Last two
games four picks, twelve sacks, six fumbles. So the pressure's
getting to him. He's kind of panicking. You know, teams

(01:07:31):
have film now on what this offense is doing. Now
the wild card is what can Jonathan Taylor. He could
carry them to a win, just like he did against Atlanta.
Chiefs run defense a little vulnerable. It's not as vulnerable
as Atlanta's run defense, especially without Diablo, but I'm sure
they're going to try to lean on Taylor here but
I would agree with you, especially at three, even at
a juice three, I would look at the cheese spags

(01:07:54):
throwing everything he has here at Daniel Jones will probably
make some mistakes, sauce. Garner has changed the equation a
bit right now. He has a vie to get assimilated
with that defense. They were playing man more in overseas,
even with Gardner lamb in a couple days prepare and
that's how you want to play the Chiefs. You want
to play more man, not zone. But Kansas City is
still I mean Indianapolis is still missing Buckner. They don't

(01:08:17):
get elite pressure, so I would imagine Mahomes a company
will be able to move the ball. A crazy stat
since nineteen ninety, this will be the fifth only the
fifteenth time and week eleven or later that we've had
a team that's five and five are worse, So week
eleven or later, a team that's under five hundred or
worse favored over a team with a winning percentage of

(01:08:41):
at least eighty percent. It's only happened fourteen previous times.
All fourteen teams won, and they went twelveh and two
against the spread.

Speaker 1 (01:08:52):
The five and five teams all one, you're saying all one,
and they went twelve toho and two against the spread
only to push the other twelve covered.

Speaker 2 (01:09:03):
So at three, Yeah, I think I think the Chiefs
are the move.

Speaker 1 (01:09:06):
If we did a deep dive on that, do you
think there were some injuries involved in some of those
with quarterbacks?

Speaker 2 (01:09:12):
Yeah. And then there's also like some times when you
just have like this is this is the case with
this game, Like the Colts have been really good, but
they've you know, they've played a week schedule.

Speaker 1 (01:09:24):
No one views them like the Ravens or the Bills
of Previs.

Speaker 2 (01:09:27):
And then you've had a Chiefs team is zero to
five and one score games and they're still power rated,
as one of the said some already is the best
team in the NFL still. So every year you're gonna
have a couple of teams that are like there's been
a couple of Steelers teams. I think maybe the COVID year.
The Steelers started like ten and one, and they were
like they weren't even that it was like the end

(01:09:47):
of Roethlisberger's career and they were just winning every game
by like one on voodoo.

Speaker 1 (01:09:54):
So like Baker got him in the playoffs, right, got
you have.

Speaker 2 (01:09:57):
A couple of teams every year that it's just their
playing way above their their record, and the up a
couple teams that are unlucky, and then when they meet
sometimes that's when you'll get these teams that are favored.
So just it doesn't mean that Chiefs are locked. They're
just an interesting nugget. So at three, yeah, I would
look at the Chiefs. I think that they'll fluster Jones
and Mahomes will do enough at home. And this is

(01:10:18):
as you mentioned, it's a massive game. Like Chiefs lose
this Chiefs right now, you can kiss the division goodbye.
Like they're basically four and a half back because they're
four back and they lost to the Broncos. Now they
get the Broncos at home, so whatever you could. You
could say that they're four back, but it's week twelve,

(01:10:39):
so you can kiss the division goodbye. Wild card, I
mean you're they're basically two back because two plus back
because the Jags have beat them head to head, the
Chargers beat them head to head. And now this, like
the charter is still theoretically to win the division. You
lose this and you don't have the head dead against

(01:10:59):
the too and then you're five and six. I think
this is make or B. Like I think if Kansas
City wins this game, they'll probably find a way to
sneak in. If they lose this game, I think they're
they're out and they're not making the playoffs. Massive swing
game for the whole season.

Speaker 1 (01:11:15):
You should go to we both should go to like
Denver and just go to bars and tell people in
our power rankings we got the chief number one still
in the league.

Speaker 2 (01:11:22):
People will lose their minds.

Speaker 1 (01:11:25):
I think my favorite, one of my favorite games on
the board might be the Saints coming off of bye
minus one and a half against the Falcons. I mean,
you talk about a franchise, it's sad. You know, Seattle
and Niner fans are looking. You're like, wait, the Rams
have the eighth pick in the draft right now, and
this could get uglier for Atlanta. London's turnt obviously Penix
is out. Mean the corpse of Cousins. Who's the hot

(01:11:47):
gonna be? I've had a twenty seven point five million
dollar backup, like truly, just like in the offseason, this
guy's gonna be our backup. That record's gonna stand for
a while, like the cap. We got a long way
to go before we And I'm not talking like fourteen
million dollars Daniel Jones. He ends up. I'm talking like
this guy is gonna be our backup all off season

(01:12:07):
the way they said it, Well, I don't think we
see that for a long long time. And I think
the Falcons man this thing. I don't even think it's
got as ugly as it's gonna get. And I actually listen,
I Tyler Schuck. I got a text from a buddy
that works for the Saints. He's like, hey, did you
see what he did? I was like, I'm not watching
you guys, so I had I went back and watched him.
I was like, God, this guy's slinging it. I can

(01:12:31):
see this thing getting ugly for Atlanta.

Speaker 2 (01:12:34):
Yeah, but by the way, I'll give you one that's
gonna be worse that'll never be broken next year twenty
twenty sixth season. Deshaun Watson's cap hit for the Browns
is eighty two million dollars. That's ridiculous. He's like their
four string quarterback right now.

Speaker 1 (01:12:52):
Easy. When they signed that contract, they were like, well,
he's gonna be so good, we'll just renegotiate and get
that thing to like kind of like the Dak Prescott
type thing, but it's so ugly they'll probably end up
cutting them and just accelerate. That number could actually get bigger.

Speaker 2 (01:13:05):
Yeah, his base hour next year is forty six million,
and then he has pro rated bonuses that all get
paid out.

Speaker 1 (01:13:10):
So it's probably if he just our starting quarterback next year.
As you said the plug, it maybe probably not.

Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
He might be washed I from what I saw in
all these injuries, and man, it's it's crazy. But yeah,
I love the Saints this week. This is number one
this spot. As you mentioned, Saints coming off of a bye,
which I think is more beneficial in their case because
you have a new quarterback, right, a rookie quarterback gets
to work with the offense, build timing. Uh. And then

(01:13:39):
you have the Falcons who earn a dream crusher spot.
They're coming off two games that essentially ended their season.
Both losses came in overtime, one overseas, one at home,
dropped a three and seven in the NFC. You're done,
and their defense is on the field for a million
plays in both games. You saw them wear down at
the end of the Panther game. Well, now back to

(01:14:01):
back of overtime games going on the road three and seven,
do they show up more importantly? And so what are
they gonna try to do? They're gonna I mean, that's
the corpse, as you mentioned, the corpse of Cousins. Cousins
is forty second out of forty four quarterbacks in EPA
plus completion percentage over expectation. The only quarterbacks that are
worse this year are McCarthy and Gabriel. There's he's only

(01:14:22):
one of four that is negative in that stat The
only other negative one is cam Ward and he got
to play. We already saw the Falcons play with Cousins
and no Drake London. It was against the Dolphins at
home and they lost that thirty five seven or something.
They got blown out. We've already seen this. Their offensive
line isn't fully healthy. So what are they gonna try

(01:14:43):
to do? They're gonna try to run it. Well. The
Saints rundy is pretty good. They're seventh in rush EPA
tenth and rush success rate. So I don't know how
the Falcons moved the ball here. Drake London is so important,
like he might be the most valuable wide receiver in
the NFL because number one, he's really good. Number two
to drop off to who else they have is massive

(01:15:04):
And if you look at their numbers, like his on
off splits, they average five point seven yards per play
with him four point four without him. How about the
run game four point seven with him on the field,
three point five without him? Because without London you can
just load the box, worry about bijon. That's what the
that's what the Dolphins did. I mean his Without him
on the field, their EPA per play is essentially equal

(01:15:28):
to the Browns offense. The only team worse, the only
offense it's worse is the Titans.

Speaker 1 (01:15:32):
That's crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:15:33):
So there are other receivers over the past four games,
whether it's Cousins or Pennix, there are other receivers not
named Drake London have been targeted thirty eight times. They
have thirteen catches. It's a it's a mess and it's
a horrible spot. So yeah, I like the Saints here
shuck did look but he's pushing the ball down the field.

(01:15:54):
If Saints are pretty much fully healthy at home off
of by I love this here.

Speaker 1 (01:16:01):
You know what's funny is I saw this thing on
Instagram that these Falcons fans aren't happy, and they were
going on this rant that after Kyle Pitts, it was
like one of the great eight or nine player stretches
in like draft history. It's like Jamar Chase pine Sewell,
you're right, Patrick's ter Dan, DeVonta Smith and Michah Parsons,
J C. Horn, I'm not going to exact order. Even

(01:16:22):
Jalen Wattle like he's way better than Kyle Pitts. Basically,
their point was you could have close your eyes, taken
the group of players thrown to Dart and it would
have been impossible to screw up. Yet the Falcons big
picture screwed it up and they got the player that
none of those other teams would trade their guy for.
Most of them would laugh. I mean there are multiple
Hall of Famers in the group. I mean, honestly, Jamar

(01:16:44):
Chase pine Sewell, MICHAEH. Parsons, I mean, Devonte is gonna
have a long career with a lot of numbers. Right,
you know what's.

Speaker 2 (01:16:52):
Famin the Bengals get it right and you don't hit
the draft, and yeah, it's just if it feels like
the Falcons are never going to get it right, and
they're never going to recover from twenty eight three.

Speaker 1 (01:17:05):
Another thing, yeah, it kind of broke their franchise. The
other thing I saw on Instagram, which I kind of
hope it was true that like Ceedee Lamb and George
Pickens were out gambling and boozing and were like puking.
But again, I mean it's Instagram. I want that to
be true because I feel like Al Davis, like back
in the seventies, like that was his team, like Kenny
not Kenny Powers, but Kenny Stabler used to say, like

(01:17:28):
I'd read the playbook by the light of the juke box,
but they won and Al didn't give a shit. John Madden,
you do whatever you want that play. When George Pickens
scored on Monday Night, it was like the Raiders do
a little one two three, We quit because that was
whoa now different animal Fangio. It's crazy, you know, this
is why how he's so good, Like they're the defending champs.

(01:17:51):
They were winning games, but it didn't quite look right
and he was just aggressive aggressive. Most of these other teams,
like I got Lions fans in my dms, like Bro,
we're always talking about the next five years, like live
in the freaking moment, why aren't we going and how
he's going after why aren't we going after these players?
He has way more hardware than we have recently. It's like, well,
that's just the way he thinks. Man, He's just and
that's their owner, Like we'll pay this guy. And it's
also like Jalen Phillips will give you an eight or

(01:18:13):
nine game tryout. If you're good, we got we'll extend you.
You know, that's what they're doing. They're getting in early
a third round. They're worth paying the premium. If he's good,
we have free access to him, and we'll give him
a contract extension. That's why they do it. And this
defense looks fantastic. So I think that this is the classic,
Like everyone's gonna be like, oh, Dallas. I think the
Eagles defense, I mean their defensive team and Fangio that

(01:18:35):
that over the last couple of weeks team speed, Jalen
Phillips is it feels like has even risen. The two
defensive tackles look a lot better. Obviously, their linebacker plays fantastic.
Just their unit at from when you get a good
pass rush, you can make random DB's look pretty good.
Most people don't have like multiple good corners. That's not
the way it works. I mean, look at the Rams.

(01:18:57):
Like the Rams, it's the defensive line that changes the game.
So I kind of like the Eagles in this spot
where I feel like a lot of people are gonna
lean on Dallas just because it was recency biased.

Speaker 2 (01:19:08):
Yeah, I mean I did. I played the Cowboys plus
three and a half. It's come down to the three.
If you can get three and a half, I still
like the Cowboys at three. I do not, and mainly
it's the main reason is number one. I do think
the Cowboys defense will be better after their additions against
the run, right, I mean, you add Williams to that
defensive line, you get your you know, you add Wilson

(01:19:29):
over shown back. Their front now which can generate pressure,
is going to be better against the run. And then
in the back end all they do it's not gonna
be good. But they play a ton of zone, and
that's what we want to do against the Eagles. The
Eagles that Jale Hurts's numbers versus man or here or
a zone, they're here and it's Eberflus. You're gonna play
a ton of zone, and we have seen that Eagles
offense is still broken. Like's they came out of the

(01:19:51):
by they now Packers defense is really good. The line's
defense is okay, and there was wind in conditions. But
the Lions with pumpk outdoor Jared Goff, I mean Jared Goff,
if you see him with a glove on, he's the
he's basically j J. McCarthy. He went two of eight,
two of eighteen at one point, I mean he was

(01:20:14):
was he fourteen to thirty seven? The lines went oh
five on fourth down. The NFL record is zero of
six that the Lions set against the Patriots goth outdoors
shocker against Bailey z Appy in the game that they
I think that line's lost twenty nothing a few years ago.
And they had a chance if there wasn't a phantom
pi they we got the ball back Todd with a

(01:20:35):
chance of tie. Now they probably wouldn't have went down
the field, but.

Speaker 1 (01:20:38):
That just shows you no chance with golf.

Speaker 2 (01:20:41):
That's how limited this Eagles offense is. They and now
you just know Lane Johnson and like they've.

Speaker 1 (01:20:48):
Been doing, can cust right, he's out, so their backup
seven and then so like.

Speaker 2 (01:20:51):
The offensive line is not the same, which is hurting Barkley,
and they they're just not getting margin on teams. They
were lying on their defense, and I agree that their
defense is only getting better and they're offensive.

Speaker 1 (01:21:03):
Would you put then them in like the Denver Houston
category based on the last couple of weeks, Now they
add Jalen Phillips.

Speaker 2 (01:21:08):
Yeah, they're up there. I mean I still have Houston one,
Denver two with withs or Tan, but the Eagles are
right there. They're i mean, fango out of the bye.
These defense is usually trend up with like Phillips. They
you know, they got a couple other guys back healthy
there and then you have those those Georgia guys in
the middle. Their defense is only going to get better.

(01:21:31):
And yet Phillips looks incredible. It is a great addition
by Howie. But the offense is not getting any better.
I mean, the offense is getting worse. I mean, they've
had their two of the worst offensive games from an
EPA perspective over the past three years in the past
two weeks, and like they just can't get bill margin right.
They have eight wins on the year, seven have come
by one possession, So like They're teams are in it

(01:21:53):
against them, and I think that the Dallas defense, because
they played a ton of zone, because they're better up front,
I think that they can. I mean, everyone's getting stops
against the Eagles. So the only team that has it
is when like the Giants were down to all their
backups and they Giants cannot stop the run to save
their life, so Barkley was able to go off. And
then on the other side, Yes, the Eagles d is
trending up, but I still trust the Cowboys to put

(01:22:15):
up some points at home. Dak's playing at an MVP level.
That offense is very tough to contain, and Dak is
Dak for whatever reason, dominates the NFC East against the
Sperry's thirty one and thirteen against the spread against the NCS,
covering by about a touchdown per game over seventy percent.
I know Dallas on a short week, but that was
an easy win. And the Eagles this is the third

(01:22:38):
game in thirteen days after two hard fock games, So
what do I think the most likely outcome here is
Eagles went by three, And like the other thing is,
once the Eagles get a lead, they at the end
of the game. They could go on like a seven
minute drive and then just kill the clock. But I
think Dallas keeps it close and is uh feisty. Hear

(01:22:59):
against the Eagles offense, it's just incapable of building margin.
And now you're without maybe the most valuable right tackle
in the league, your center, and that's contributing to some
of the issues that the Eagles are having. You did
mention the Raiders and do they have quit? Maybe? But
I bet the minus three and.

Speaker 1 (01:23:19):
A half I kind of like them too and a half.

Speaker 2 (01:23:21):
Chador is not ready to be an NFL quarterback right now,
not nowhere close.

Speaker 1 (01:23:26):
What would be a third day But if you just
go third day rookie quarterback, first start midseason on the road,
I mean, the stats would be on your side to
take the Raiders right.

Speaker 2 (01:23:35):
Yes, but I think, like from everything I've.

Speaker 1 (01:23:37):
Heard, the Browns offensive line is terrible too. I mean,
Crosby is still playing his ass off. I could see
Crosby having a massive day.

Speaker 2 (01:23:45):
You could have like five sacks this game, yeah, I
mean I believe. Yeah. Dating back to nineteen ninety nine,
the Browns have had seventeen quarterbacks make their first career start.
They're ower and seven Tina those games.

Speaker 1 (01:24:02):
But I feel that sucks. They like football so much,
and it's like the Raiders fans like these people love football,
which I I love people that love football, and it's
just after there's a certain point of like every team
has a shitty couple of years, like the Patriots, but
just like it never ends. It never ends. If you're
a Browns fan or a Raider fan. It just feels like,

(01:24:24):
in perpetuity, we're gonna suck.

Speaker 2 (01:24:27):
And then you got to watch the Ravens be good.
The team that left Cleve. They've won a couple of
Super Bowls. So yeah, I have a ton of friends
in Cleveland, even though I'm a Ravens fan, and it's
they call it the Factory of Sadness. I go up
there for one game in a year. Every year. I
feel I feel for brown If.

Speaker 1 (01:24:45):
You're a Raider fan, it's like, you know, we're all
moving us in the Chargers. We might share a building.
Then like several years later we get Grood and they
get shitty coaches. Blows up in our face. A couple
of years later they get Jim Harbaugh. It's like they're
just gonna be good. The Broncos get Sean Payton, that
East we already done, was like, what is we are
so screwed? We got seventy five year old Pete Carroll,
we got Chip Kelly, who is just running a great

(01:25:07):
scam right now, I mean cashing them Tom Brady private
equity money. It's like, this sucks. I mean, this sucks.

Speaker 2 (01:25:15):
Miserable. Yeah, And there was some like optimism going into
the air, and.

Speaker 1 (01:25:19):
I kind of believed it. I thought they would be
a little feisty.

Speaker 2 (01:25:22):
Yeah, I mean it's Chip Kelly's good a disaster. Carol's
not been good. The offensive line is in shambles. It's
I mean that you lost Colt Miller's one of the
most underrated left tackles, and you lost Cowers Johnson is
probably their best in tier lineman. And it's falling to pieces.
That's my one concern here. I mean, this total is
down to thirty five and a half. It's indoors you.

(01:25:43):
I think there's been two totals that have been thirty
five thirty five and a half over the past thirty
years that that is low. I could see the under
but I'm afraid of short fields. Like so, I'm afraid
Niles Garrett Company could just wreck havoc on Gino. But
what this comes down to to me and keep it mine.
I mentioned this last week. The Browns defense is not
the same on the road at home. I almost always

(01:26:05):
bet them. They covered again last week. Over the past
three seasons, the most profitable home team against the spread,
it's not the Lions and degenerate Dan Campbell. It's the Browns'
sixty three percent against the spread. The least profitable team
on the road over the past three years is the Browns.
They're five and seventeen against the spread twenty two point

(01:26:27):
seven percent. They're film to cover by a bottle touchdown
per game. Why because their defense isn't the same. Their
offense stinks everywhere now they have tackle injuries. So but
the main point here is I don't think Schudor Sanders
is ready to come into an NFL game and do
anything against a competent defense. The Raiders have a decent defense,
Like they played some tough offenses this year. Patrick Graham's

(01:26:49):
a good coordinator. They'll take away explosive plays. They have
prosby adjusted for schedule, they're like twelve.

Speaker 1 (01:26:56):
I mean fairness. George Pickens and ceedee Lamb lighting me up.
It's like those guys are elite players. Yes, especially George
this year. I mean George has been pretty dominant.

Speaker 2 (01:27:05):
Yeah, I mean there's just nothing the brown like. But Shador,
He's from everything that I've heard and seen. He can't
read Blitz. He's not ready to and that that's been
the thing is preparation in his care and it's like
it's just not there yet. That's why he hasn't seen
the field for over Gabriel, who's not good. Gabriel's be
one of the worst. You would think, how can it
get much worse? Well, I'll tell you because all the
people let him close to and the Browns were like,

(01:27:27):
it's you know, he's not ready. I had the I
told you. I think I had the Browns plus eight
and a half against my Ravens. They're up six in
the fourth quarter with the ball, and I thought I
was gonna lose my bat. It's the fourth quarter with
the dominant defense. I just didn't want the Browns to
have the ball because I was like, there's gonna throw.
So he threw one of the worst picks I've ever seen.

(01:27:49):
He also want to roll out was trying to throw
like a little just dump off. It went Kyle Hail
to drop the pick six. He went oh of eight
against the blitz with one hundred percent pressure rate. He
held the all the longest of any He doesn't he
doesn't look at his first read, he took a sack
almost as a safety. He had another sack where he
fumbled it, but the Browns offensive lineman recovered it. The

(01:28:10):
Ravens almost won that game by twenty one, and they
were down six in the fourth quarter. So I just
think it's.

Speaker 1 (01:28:18):
Well, his natural reaction a little kleb bye is to
take off. Well, Caleb is a big time athlete, and
as he and.

Speaker 2 (01:28:26):
That he got away at look Schador. When he has time,
he has a great army. He's very accurate, but right
now he just can't read NFL defenses and blitzes. And
like he is used to a Colorado, he would just
go all the way back and then he was able
to shred big twelve defenses with really good receivers. By
the way, they're all in the NFL, and the Browns
don't have that, and they don't either a bad offensive line,

(01:28:48):
bad receivers, and this is a different type of speed.
This is not the Big twelve is the NFL. So
not to say sure it can't ever be good, but
right now it's he's not right. I mean last week
was a disaster. There.

Speaker 1 (01:29:01):
There's gonna be a lot of eyeballs on this game
that no one would have watched two weeks.

Speaker 2 (01:29:05):
Yeah, now it's a lot more interesting. Id with the Raiders.
It's disgusting. Who wants to lay points of the Raiders team?
But I did. Okay, here's here's a stat because you
can go back to the the last preseason game that
Sanders played. He played against the Rams, who sent their
scout team. They didn't even they didn't send I forget
who started for the Rams in that game. They went
to Cleveland. It was like a it was a Saturday afternoon.

(01:29:28):
It was like a noon kick. They they didn't they
didn't play anybody, and they're was like a third string defense.
And I think he had like five he was sacked
like five or six times in a quarter. But over
the including that game and then last week's game, over
the last the last thirty one times that Shedr Sanders

(01:29:49):
has dropped back, the Browns have negative seven yards thirty
one dropbacks negative seven yards. That's stuff.

Speaker 1 (01:30:01):
I can't I can't wait. Okay, speaking of the Rams, uh,
I mean, were you on the Sean Tucker train before
that performance the other night. I'll be honest, I didn't
know much about him, but I immediately googled him.

Speaker 2 (01:30:15):
He's bringing some juice that he can scoot that they've
been missing without Bucky.

Speaker 1 (01:30:34):
Sneaky with Carolina, which if you would have told me
the Niners Carolina would be a big game. I know
it was on Monday night when the schedule came out,
but like people would like there'd be a decent amount
on the line of like you're crazy, but there is
for both teams, especially.

Speaker 2 (01:30:50):
For car tiebreaker too.

Speaker 1 (01:30:52):
Yeah, I mean, well what about I mean they still
play Tampa twice. I mean Tampa's just it felt like
they were just gonna run away with it because we've
you the Atlanta Falcons as being the team that would
be chasing him. Turns out as the Carolina Panthers. It's
not inconceivable. I mean, the forty nine ers are rolling
out a UFL defense. So if perty McCaffrey and Kittle

(01:31:13):
and Pierce All's back, if they're scoring points, probably be okay.
But if they have an off day. That defense, I
don't think most people realize a couple percent through before
and fifty.

Speaker 2 (01:31:22):
Yards NFL record for completions in a game.

Speaker 1 (01:31:26):
If you would have told me his stat line to
going into that game, I'd be like, Oh, the Niners
probably gonna lose this game forty to thirty or something.

Speaker 2 (01:31:33):
You know, Yeah, they had a kick return, They had
a bunch of turnovers, and then they had a ninety
eight yard kick return. Otherwise that game probably then, you know,
the Niners probably would have won, but it would have
been like forty to third.

Speaker 1 (01:31:44):
They've been tight. Yeah, it would have been tight. They're
gonna play in a lot of tight games with that defense.

Speaker 2 (01:31:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:31:49):
I just I'm gonna take Tampa six and a half
here that that was a massive win for the Rams,
which is crazy. He throws all these picks and he
does not look good. It's not like balls are getting tipped.
I mean his picks were hitting guys in their chest.
The one jump past thing that he did that is like, Sam,
I'm your fan, but what are we doing here? Still covered?

(01:32:13):
But I think I'm gonna take Tampa here plus six
and a half.

Speaker 2 (01:32:17):
Yeah, that speaks to the Seahawks defense that it's pretty
elite for four picks and they were able to.

Speaker 1 (01:32:23):
Staff through for one hundred and thirty yards.

Speaker 2 (01:32:25):
Yeah, they still have to kick to win it. So
we'll see if the Bucks get any healthier here, especially
at seven. Definitely would look at the Bucks. Here's like,
so one of the things that the Rams are doing
lately is that you're using thirteen personnel over the past month.

(01:32:46):
I think they've used it like forty at the time.
So they're using like three tight ends on the field
at the same time. And that's kind of part of
a bigger trend in the NFL this year is and
the Ravens have been ahead of the curve, right, They
were doing it with a lot of the twelve personnel
with likely and Andrews and then full back in there

(01:33:07):
and we're a card and then you have Lamar and like,
so it was like a heavier offense. Why was that advantageous? Well,
most importantly, defenses aren't used all the other weeks. You're
playing eleven personnel, right, and it's the same kind of
offenses and spread, So you know, these things are cyclical.

Speaker 1 (01:33:26):
To become a heavy spread league. Lawl like college yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:33:30):
And then offenses as so now you're saying, like, look
at the Steelers. The Steelers are running out there like
two three tight ends all the time. The Seahawks are
going heavy personnel, heavy placs and they're not even running
it well, but they're throwing really well. And now the
Rams one of the best offenses. Hell, they're going like
three tight ends forty percent of the time. So one
of the biggest issues with that that you see from

(01:33:53):
NFL teams is they are matching. They are matching these
heavy personnel formations on with their base defense, which is
the wrong approach. And what I mean by that is,
so if you have a bunch of tight ends out there,
a lot of teams will say, Okay, let's put linebackers
out there. We got to stop the run, and we
gotta stop. But teams are throwing out of this and

(01:34:16):
they're throwing to their tight ends and they're creating mismatches
against non cover guys. The way the best way to
approach this is you don't match the formation and you
match the down and distance. Right, So if it's like
a passing down, you have your your your nickel in there.
The team that does it the best now you can't

(01:34:36):
in order to do that if you have like a
really good nickel that could also be basically a linebacker
and cover. The Seahawks already have one of those, and
nickel even more a rookie out of South Carolina. The
Seahawks match base with heavy on heavy personnel only twenty
percent of the time. That's the lowest by far. So

(01:34:57):
basically they just always have their nickel out there. It
gives them a lot of flexibility and they can still
defend the run. The league average is eighty percent. Two
teams that do a good job of doing this that
around fifty percent are the Bears and the Bucks. So
the Bucks do a good job of doing this, which
is really important against the Rams. They're not just gonna

(01:35:18):
when the Rams are three tight ends, they're not gonna,
you know, bring in all their linebackers. They can still
They're gonna still have their cover guys out there, which
is important because the Rams can really still throw and
do a lot out of that formation. And the reason
the Bucks can do that is because their run defense
is really good just with their guides up front, and
they don't have to really worry about it. So a

(01:35:38):
little in the weeds there. I don't know if that
all makes sense, but from that perspective, I think the
Bucks will be able to handle some of this thirteen
personnel stuff that's giving other teams issues. But one of
the reasons it didn't in Seattle's because they're not matching.
They're able to kind of play nickel and still contain
the run and then cover all the guys that the
Rams are throwing to. So the Bucks aren't as good

(01:35:59):
at it as Seattle, but their run deal are is
just as good, and they're not matching with bass as
often as a lot of these other teams are doing,
which is a major mistake in my opinion. And I
think eventually all these defenses will catch on and they
got to get you got to get more of these
hybrid safety nickel linebacker guys who become so much more important,

(01:36:19):
and then you're able to to do what the Seahawks do.
So yeah, I don't I don't mind taking the seven
here with the Bucks a huge game, Like if the
Bucks lose and there are seven point dogs and the
Panthers win in the shootout, you're the Panthers are in
first place on Tuesday morning, and it's a huge game

(01:36:44):
and wild card tiebreakers and uh yeah, so the Panthers
have been feisty. I mean this is all the also
a team that went on the road and wanted Green Bay.
They're you know, Bryce Young's playing better, they can run
the ball, Teed McMillan's really good. So yeah, two really
important games in that division, and especially for the forty
nine ers, like because as you said, they're probably gonna

(01:37:06):
lose some shootouts, win some shootouts, so every game is
so important in the NFC, which is just gonna be
in all out war. I mean, I can't This is
the first time in a very long time now, granted
I'm a Ravens fan that I look at the the
playoff picture and the projected matchups, especially the Chiefs aren't
in there. Imagine if the Ravens don't get in either

(01:37:28):
that I'm like, I can't wait for the NFC Compared
to the AFC. I mean, like right now, in the NFC,
you're talking.

Speaker 1 (01:37:36):
Well, you got a couple. I mean, Tampa LA is
like kind of an early season playoff game. That's Seattle
Rams game, early season playoff game, this forty nine er
Carolina game. Assuming Tampa loses, you know, there's not as
much pressure on Carolina. They lose, they still you know,
control a lot of their destiny because they play them.
I do think there's a ton of pressure on the

(01:37:56):
forty nine ers, given how Seattle's not going way. Obviously
the Rams would be rolling. They have the Browns Cleveland
the following week. And you mentioned this. Schwartz owns Kyle
Shanahan a couple of years ago, and they played.

Speaker 2 (01:38:11):
In that Brown's almost always beat They beat him last year.

Speaker 1 (01:38:14):
They yeah game, Their defense is good at home. It'd
probably be bad weather, pretty holding onto the ball. He's
got a little golf to him. It's not as good
in I mean, you see him in a dome. I
mean he looks fantastic. You know, you get him in
that inclement weather, it'd be cold, windy, wet. That Browns
game is tricky. You'd have told me at the beginning
of the season that forty nine Ers win ten or
eleven games. I would have circled that, like that's probably

(01:38:35):
a loss going into their bye. But you win this thing,
you're eight and four, You get a little breathing room. Okay,
you lose that, you still control your own destiny against
the Bears the following week. Who are gonna start playing
the Packers and the Lions. That thing can get a
little weird. I think this is game at home Monday
night football. You win this game, you're eight and four.
You got a pretty good path to get to that

(01:38:57):
seven seed and pretty remarkable accomplished had given the injuries,
but given your defense. I mean McMillan that listen. I
was like, I don't know, man, this is kind of
big guy. He's not that fast. I get he was
really productive in the Big twelve at Arizona. I've seen
this song and dance before. He looks awesome. That's that's
a good pick. Even again, now granted we kind of weird.

(01:39:18):
Early start to his career did look pretty good, made
some plays last year, showed some explosion or last week,
excuse me, against Atlanta, if they can get him going
a little bit with McMillan, their offense, they do got
a little pop to him.

Speaker 2 (01:39:30):
Yeah, they can run the ball, and you can run
on San Frana. The other thing is that San Francisco
is not getting any pressure right now, so Zero can
just sit back there and.

Speaker 1 (01:39:38):
It's not an easy game for the Niners. Like I
I would not trust with the points just because their
defense is so atrocio.

Speaker 2 (01:39:43):
Yeah, I took I took the seven, just I can't
trust him the win by margin, like you have to
truck the win by ten or more. Plus the back
door would be very easy against that defense if you
need it. But yeah, the NFC's crazy around. The Lions
aren't in the playoffs at the season ended right now,
and neither of the Panthers. It's pretty wide. I mean,
the matchups in the first round be forty nine Ers
at Rams, Packers at Bears, Seahawks at Bucks, Eagles by

(01:40:10):
Like that's intriguing. Whereas you know, like in the AFC,
you got the top seeds are like Daniel Jones and
Bo Nicks and Aaron Rodgers, and you got the the
Chargers without an O line the Jags. Like the NFC
right now as it currently stands, is way more intriguing

(01:40:31):
than totally in the AFC.

Speaker 1 (01:40:33):
Well, Stuckey, enjoy the weekend and we will reconvene next week,
going to the Turkey Day and actually pretty good slate
on three games on Thursday and then even the Black
Friday games, Like damn, that's that's a pretty good Black
Friday game.

Speaker 2 (01:40:46):
Yeah, you got college football days with Friday and Saturdays.

Speaker 1 (01:40:49):
So yeah, it's a good wait.

Speaker 2 (01:40:51):
We will catch up Tuesday and go through it.

Speaker 1 (01:40:54):
Talk to you soon, buddy. All right, bro, have a
great night.
