Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
He's a senior NFL reporter Monday morning quarterback, and he
loves college football as much as I do. And I
want to start there with Albert Breer is now joining
us live. So kind of overlooked in the Lane Kiffin situation.
Is the one way to leave Old Miss and not

(00:50):
alienate a conference that you could come back to is
to go pro.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
And everybody would be like.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Okay, old Miss, Old Miss to the Jets or Old
Miss of the Giants. Everybody gets that right wherever he
goes in the SEC. It's just it's messy, especially because
it's a great all time Old Miss season. I believe
that he's got NFL interest right side of the ball,
young former player, attitude, presence, what do you hear?

Speaker 4 (01:21):
Yeah, I think the NFL would be interested in him.
Quite honestly, the NFL has been interested in him before.
Of course, he was a head coach in the NFL
for a brief time with the Raiders. We all know
how that ended with the overhead projector and Al Davis
and all of that. But there was a point where
the NFL was interested in him, in him as an
assistant when he was the offensive coordinator at Alabama before

(01:41):
he went to Florida Atlantic. I remember talking to a
few college skying directors, guys who are out there on
the trail, who would tell me, like, you know, this
is one thing that could be an interesting idea for someone.
And remember that was when Chip Kelly was in Philadelphia
and there was a lot of fascination with college offenses, right,
and here was a guy who had sort of incorporated

(02:03):
spread principles into his West Coast background, and so he
was sort of doing both, you know, and being able
to give college kids some grounding in in a pro
offense while doing the spread things that got them up
and running fast. And so this is something the NFL
has looked at in the past. Again, of course he's

(02:24):
been a head coach, but they did look at him
as an assistant about a decade ago. And I do
think that if you know, word got out there that
he was really interested in going to the NFL, because
that pipeline has run sort of dry with all the
turnover there is in the pros. I do think NFL
teams was showing interest in him.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
So the teams that can get a Mendoza in the
draft or a Dante More either have two first round picks,
like the Rams or Cleveland or Dallas. Now Dallas doesn't
need a quarterback clearly, or a roster that is really loaded,
and you feel like, I mean, the Colts are like, guys,

(03:05):
we're gonna resign Daniel Jones.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Our old line's good.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
We just solved our one issue. Sauce Gardner. We like
our roster. I'm gonna throw this.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Out to you.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
So Seattle's got a stack roster. They like Sam Darnald
a lot. But I watched that game and I thought
to myself, and I know, John Snyder is going to
college football venues looking long term.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
At quarterback, right you have to.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
I mean, he looked at Josh Allen when Russell Wilson
was going to Super Bowls? What about a team? Like,
what did you make of the Sam Darnald performance? Is
it just one of those Hey, Sam is but you
look at that the game against the Rams last year. Yeah,
the game against the Lions. Could you see a good
team now taking a big swing? And because Donald would

(03:56):
have albert a massive market day more stage in college
of a massive market. What do you make of Donald
and Seattle after that performance or no big deal?

Speaker 5 (04:07):
I don't think it's a big deal.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
I think he's got a Rams problem, you know, quite honestly,
like the two games against the Ram and that's a
problem because you're in the NFC West. But there's something
that Chris Shule has been able to do against Sam
Donald that it clearly is working at works in the
Minnesota game last year, it worked in the Seattle game
this year.

Speaker 5 (04:25):
So there is like a hump that Sam's got to
get over.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
But I've got the statistics up right now, and this
is even with that game against the Rams, the three
interception game against the Rams factored in. He's seventh in
the NFL in passer rating, he's seventh in passing yards,
he's tenth in touchdown passes.

Speaker 5 (04:42):
And he's first in yards per attempt.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
He's elevated Jackson Smith and Jigba, who is already a
really good receiver to maybe becoming the best receiver in football.
He's helped them mitigate some of the issues they've had
on their offensive line.

Speaker 5 (04:54):
He's been everything they wanted. And he's relatively affordable. He's
getting paid.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
Just over thirty million dollars per year for twenty six
and twenty seven. So they have them under contract for
uh for for.

Speaker 5 (05:08):
A few years.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
And you look at like where they are, and yes,
John Snider has always looked at these these these these
big picture ideas. And one of the things I remember
hearing that the Seahawks were doing all the way back
in the day, right like when Russell Wilson was on
the rookie quarterback They even considered the idea, do we
churn quarterbacks? Like what would that look like if somebody
tried to keep taking advantage of that, that that benefit.

Speaker 5 (05:30):
Of having a quarterback on a rookie contract.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
So they've thought creatively on these things in the past.
But I think Sam's done too good a job for them.
He's too affordable for the next couple of years, and
there's too much in a window now with the group
of players that they have. I Thiny've got a really
good team there to turn the Apple card upside down
a quarterback. So I don't mind the idea, and I'm
sure John has thought of everything. I just don't think

(05:54):
they're going to do it right now, all right, throwing
it out there.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
Okay, So Nick Wright said something this week I thought
was really interesting. He said, because of Chadeur's history, the
speeding tickets, the iffy judgment, you know, tanking some pre
draft interviews, that this start against the Raiders, if it
goes sideways, it's really ugly. Does he get another start?

(06:18):
Like the whole league is watching this game? The Raiders
aren't good, that that he has done himself a bit
of a disservice with a lack of self awareness, some immaturity,
likable kid that this this actually means a lot for Shador,
like he needs to be mid or up.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
Do you do you think.

Speaker 4 (06:37):
I think the default for kevins fanskis just to turn
to tell till turned back to Dylan Gabriel, And Dylan
Gabriel is healthy, so I think she door has got
to overcome that in the short term to to to
to get a shot to continue as the starter. Right, So, yes,
this is an audition, but I think there's a relatively
high bar to clear there, Like he's got to play well.

Speaker 5 (06:57):
It can't just be so so.

Speaker 4 (07:00):
And part of the problem, Colin is all the things
that you heard scouts talk about before the drafts and
stuff that I was trying to tell people back then
that I was hearing from all these people, Like all
of that stuff showed up in the game against the Ravens.

Speaker 5 (07:13):
He doesn't have great sense, he doesn't see it fast enough.
He bails out of the back of the.

Speaker 4 (07:17):
Pocket and tries to run away from the rush that way,
Like all of that stuff was showing up, And not
only is that not good for the team, it's not
good for his own development if bad habits are being
reinforced in game action. So I think the biggest thing
you're looking for from Shador is breaking some of those habits.

Speaker 5 (07:34):
Can he do that on the fly?

Speaker 4 (07:36):
Can that happen with the Browns having a chance to
build a game plan around him and a relatively weak
opponent on deck this week with the Raiders?

Speaker 5 (07:45):
You know, I think that's what you're looking at.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
Here is can he move past some of the things
that he was criticized for before the draft. If so,
maybe they think about continuing to start him. If not,
then I think they put him right back where he
was as a ault mental player on their roster. They
got their look at him, and then maybe they look
at him again in twenty twenty six. But I don't
have any reason to believe that the Browns quarterback for

(08:09):
twenty twenty six is on the roster right now. And
I think for Shador this is as much about just
getting another chance to show what he can do in
December more so than it is about establishing anything for
the future.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
So I have to end with this, and it's a
real story. I mean, Josh Allen got hit twelve times.
They don't have a deep threat. They couldn't get the
plan on time, even even Houston ran on him in
the first half. And Brandon Bean got very spicy with
local media this offseason when they ripped him for the

(08:44):
draft and they said, all you did is draft defensive players.
Josh Allen needs more help. So I mean, this year
Josh Allen has lost to last night, Tua, Michael Pennett
and Davis Mills. Okay, that's just not good enough and
getting in it's a standalone game, and you know Albert
that matters I do not see this as a super

(09:08):
Bowl team. I thought the Texans have a better roster
and I did not feel that two three years ago.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
I think the heat's getting matched, though.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
I don't think you can keep losing to see level quarterbacks.
I think that lost means something last night, I really
do to you.

Speaker 4 (09:24):
I mean, it depends right like what happens the rest
of the year, and is this a blip or is
it something more? Because we now have four losses to
go on, and you know, really like I think the
like like going forward, the way you look at this.

Speaker 5 (09:40):
Josh Allen turns thirty in May, and how much more.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
Of this can the Bill's ownership take and looking at
where they're at, I view it a little bit like
And I think the right comparison here is Tony Dungee
and Tampa where like when my and when Tampa was
when when Tony Dunggey first got to Tampa in the
mid nineties, he completely.

Speaker 5 (10:07):
Turned that organization around.

Speaker 4 (10:09):
They were able to flip it on the strength of
a historic defense with John Lynch and Warren Sapp and
Derrek Brooks, and they kept knocking on the door and
everybody loved Tony Dungee and he'd done such a great job.
And then eventually, after seven years, it got to the
point where okay, like we're not there, ownership started courting
Bill Parcells. They wind up trading for John Gruden and

(10:29):
the rest is history. I don't think the Bills are
there yet, but I would say, like, when you've got
a talent like this, like Josh Allen is the Bill's
version of what Tampa had in that defense, right, and
you keep knocking on the door and he's getting older,
the pressure, of course, is going to be on everybody
to continue to put the best team they possibly can
around him, to put him in this best situation possible.

(10:52):
And I think a couple of the things that really
stuck out last night was the Bill's inability to deal
with the deal with the the defensive front of the
Houston Texans. I think that Bill's got a coached on
that side of the ball, you know, And then you
see no Dalton Kinkaid that add and impact Keon Coleman,
who is a high second round pick, isn't out there

(11:13):
with them.

Speaker 5 (11:14):
Like all of those are issues, you know.

Speaker 4 (11:16):
So I think as you go on, you can say
Brandon Bean and Sean McDermott have done a fantastic job
completely rebuilding that bills organization and changing who they are
and helping that stadium get built and being the ones
who brought Josh Allen in. But of course, like having
a talent like that on your roster, and Josh Allen

(11:36):
getting older does.

Speaker 5 (11:38):
Does create a sense of urgency for everyone involved.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
Now, Jay McK and I had a disagreement earlier. I said,
in Philadelphia, the media is hyper aggressive, and they keep
going to AJ Brown's locker and asking aggressive questions and
he won't bite. Like one of them was, you know
your numbers are down, what does that say about you?
And he said, well, saques are down, that doesn't mean
he's a bad player. I thought that was totally appropriate.

(12:04):
J Mac is like, this guy's starting fires, and I'm like, listen,
the Philadelphia media is aggressive, newspaper, TV, sports, radio. I
wonder what the fissuer's like. Is it overplayed by people
like me that aren't there. And for the record, Philadelphia
is noisy in a good year.

Speaker 3 (12:22):
Isn't it.

Speaker 5 (12:24):
It's the Fishers.

Speaker 4 (12:25):
Are there, but they've been there, and I would just
tell you that that's sort of been the sort of
cadence for this team over the last few years. That
locker room's got a lot of big egos in it.
There are a lot of mouse to feed. Jalen Hurts
hasn't always been the most well liked person at building.
AJ Brown can be volatile, Jalen Carter isn't the easiest

(12:47):
guy to deal with either. They've been able to bring
all these personalities and egos together in the name of
building the most talented roster possible. This is where the
value of Nick Sirianni is, they'll colin. I mean his
value he wasn't as a quarterback developer. It isn't as
an offensive schemer or play caller. His value is in
his ability to manage people and to bring people together

(13:09):
and to deal with these sorts of brush fires. And
I think that's the one thing people miss on Siriani
is he'll put the fire out with AJ Brown, He'll
manage Jalen Carter, He'll deal with with Jalen Hurts. Like
all of the big personalities, all the big egos, all
of the big.

Speaker 5 (13:24):
Money guys that are in there, not everybody can manage that.

Speaker 4 (13:28):
And I think in that way, Sirianni's even a little
bit like Mike Tomlin. So I think for the time being,
the Eagles deal with this as it comes, and Nick
Sirianni does a good job of leaning into what the
team is good at, which I think that team has
a fantastic defense. That's what no one's talking about, but
that defense is one of the best in the league,
right there with the Broncos and the Texans.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
And you ride it out.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
And you see where you can go with this team,
and then you make a decision on AJ Brown after
the year. I'll be interested to see what his trade
value would be too, but they were never going to
trade him in because they're chasing a championship in the
off season. The dynamic changes because you have the wherewithal
to replace him on your roster. You don't have that
end season, so they manage it for now, and then

(14:11):
I think they revisited after the year.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
Albert Birr Monday Morning Quarterback. Good stuff, good stuff. I
love that Lane Kiffin info. Good see anybody as all us?

Speaker 2 (14:21):
All right, thanks Colin. Be sure to catch live editions
of The Herd weekdays and Noone Eastern not a em Pacific.

Speaker 6 (14:28):
Hey, we're Cavino and Rich Fox Sports Radio every day
five to seven pm Eastern. But here's the thing, we
never have enough time to get to everything we want
to get to.

Speaker 7 (14:36):
And that's why we have a brand new podcast called
over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun in
our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for. Yeah, you blubber list lame and me.

Speaker 6 (14:51):
Well, you know what it's called over promise. You should
be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years.

Speaker 7 (14:55):
Well, it's a Cavino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking, of course, but we're also going to talk
life and relationships. And if Rich and I are arguing
about something or we didn't have enough time, it will
continue on our after show called over Promised.

Speaker 6 (15:09):
Well, if you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make
sure you check out over Promise and also Uncensored, by
the way, so maybe we'll go at it even a
little harder. It's gonna be the best after show podcast
of all time.

Speaker 7 (15:19):
There you go, over promising, and remember you could see
it on YouTube, but definitely join US listener over promised
with Cavino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts
or wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 3 (15:30):
Jmack with the news.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
No, no, this is the herd Line news.

Speaker 8 (15:37):
All right, Well, Colin quick thing. He said something interesting
there about Jalen hurts like he's not loved in the Lockdow.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
I told you.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
What I haven't heard is why Okay, I told you
this last summer. I was told by somebody very close
to the executive suite. Jalen is not hang out with
the guys. Jalen can be a little you know, a
little robotic. You know all his stuff, you know, his
executive team all women, doing his own thing, not about

(16:07):
hanging out with the guys.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
He's very mature for his age. He can be. And
by the way, this is exactly what I was told.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
It's not Russell Wilson, but he's got like his prepared
lines and he's I'm just telling you what I was
told by an unimpeachable source. And now Albert's hearing it. Yeah,
and now you're hearing it from Derek Gunn, so you're
hearing it now. This is exactly what I heard. He's
not the most well loved gun yet doesn't mean he's disliked,
but he's not one of the guys.

Speaker 9 (16:35):
It's just weird.

Speaker 8 (16:36):
Hey, Hey, Jalen, Hey, we're going to this jiggle joint downtown.

Speaker 9 (16:39):
You want to come hang out?

Speaker 8 (16:40):
You know what, I got a life. I don't need
that souf, so what he doesn't hang out with that?
I just I don't like this because Hurt seems like
a great guy. All right, I'm rambling.

Speaker 9 (16:47):
Let's move on.

Speaker 8 (16:48):
All right, let's go to Ben Johnson and Kayleb Williams. Colin, listen,
I know you're kind of lukewarm on this drama. But
now another source this went to Diana Russini of The
Athletic is saying there could be some friction between Caleb
and Ben Johnson. Roussini says in NFLGM told her that
he can't bring himself to fully buy in on Caleb,

(17:11):
adding she was told, I just don't think he's consistently
playing on time within the scheme. I gotta wonder what
does Ben Johnson feel about that. He's got to be
really patient for now.

Speaker 9 (17:23):
So this is now.

Speaker 8 (17:24):
Multiple reporters are saying the timing issue with Ben and.

Speaker 9 (17:28):
Caleb but it is not working.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
We've said from the very beginning it's not a perfect fit.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
It's winning.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
They're beating bad teams and average teams narrowly.

Speaker 3 (17:37):
It's not a perfect fit.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
I mean, if you're asking me what Ben Johnson would like,
it's sixty seven percent completion percentage. Play with instructure, but
enough mobility. Drake may mobility to escape if needed. That's
what he wants. It's very Kyle Shanahan, here's my play,
run it. And there's a lot of times with Caleb
he doesn't if the first guy is not open, he's

(18:00):
but now he's so exceptional at that.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
But this is not a perfect fit. It's never been
a perfect fit.

Speaker 8 (18:05):
So do you think that it sounds like you think
this is maybe a process over results. Hey, we're winning
the Caleb, you're not really doing everything we want the
right way. Otherwise maybe then we're blowing people out, or
we can't keep winning this way. If you would do
it my way, we would then make the real jump
to light speed to be a serious contender.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
You got to remember Chicago's.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
They're so depraved offensively for one hundred years that the
fact that Caleb is exciting and winning they haven't even
had that. I mean they had Jay Cutler, which was
a pocket guy but kind of surly.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
Rex Grossman, big.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
Arm pocket guy, but you know, nobody saw him as
like iconic. You know, Caleb is winning. They're better than
the Packers. It looks like are certainly in their class.
They finally have a good offense. So Caleb is getting
really popular really quickly in Chicago.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
But it's never been a perfect fit.

Speaker 9 (18:59):
It's been what eleven games.

Speaker 8 (19:02):
So the other thing is the tackles for the Bears
have played well this season. This is a big timing
game because you know Watt and Heismith coming off the edge.
You better have your timing down. Jalen Ramsey gonna be
hunting stuff in the secondary. I like this game. I
still am with you.

Speaker 9 (19:16):
I'm on the Bears here. Unless next up.

Speaker 8 (19:18):
Colin, let's go to the New York Giants. They got
some bummer news. Jackson Dart did not clear a concussion protocol.

Speaker 9 (19:25):
He will be out this weekend.

Speaker 8 (19:28):
That'll mean Jameis Winston gets his second straight start. He
was serviceable against the Packers last week. I think he
did some things that caught them off guard. I'm just
curious Brian Dable. One of the big knocks on him
was he was running Dart into the ground, like he
can't take these hits. Do you think there's an edict, Hey, Kafka,
we like Dart, we don't want him injured.

Speaker 9 (19:47):
Let's not rush him back. You think that's a play here.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
Yeah, I mean it's a dicey situation. So Dave Ball
needed to play him. That's why he's rushing the Blue
Chant because he didn't want to get fired. And then
he gets staying up and Kafka wants to be you know,
a guy gets fired, the interim guy usually does the
opposite of what the coach does.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
So he's gonna.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
Protect Jackson Dart, he's gonna hold Abdul Carter responsible. So
generally the interim coach comes in and either lightens up
the room or adds some intensity to the room. You
kind of go the opposite. The pendulum swings to what
wasn't winning. So my guess is Kafka with Joe Shane,

(20:33):
you know they're in unison. He's saying, listen, what Joe,
what do you think? And Joe's probably like protect Jackson
Dart and Kafka buys into it.

Speaker 9 (20:40):
So just Kafka.

Speaker 8 (20:41):
Is he able to save his job if he goes
I don't know one and six.

Speaker 9 (20:44):
No, well that's the thing.

Speaker 3 (20:46):
So Kaska is going.

Speaker 8 (20:47):
To be forced into playing Dart. Sorry, you're not winning
with Jamis Winston Lions. By the way, you see it
ten and a half on the screen. Since Dart was
ruled out, this is jumped to twelve and a half.
I'm seeing some thirteens. I'm with you, Lion smash spot
against the g Men. Final story, Colin Man. We love
to talk about quarterbacks. JJ McCarthy has been something of

(21:07):
a piniata for you Vikings. Remember last year they were
fourteen and three with Sammy d JJ McCarthy.

Speaker 9 (21:14):
Yeah, not good.

Speaker 8 (21:15):
Fifty two percent of his completions, more picks than nine interception, sorry,
more interceptions than touchdowns, and he's at the ankle injury.
But McCarthy, listen to the optimism dripping here ahead of
a big divisional matchup.

Speaker 10 (21:30):
I kind of make the analogy of just like you know,
a quirk about to come off a bottle, just understanding
that it's you know, one to three little things that
I need to change about my game that is going
to make a huge difference in the outcome of every
single drive in the game. So yeah, I feel like
it's really close, but it all comes down to the
consistency of the fundamentals and the little details.

Speaker 8 (21:51):
Well said, you gotta may Josh Allen was like fifty
something percent completions as a young fella with the Buffalo Bills.
Remember that he turned it around. I'm not selling my
McCarthy's stock, but it's down bad, kind of like my
crypto portfolio right now, you know, right now? I mean
you posted the stats earlier on McCarthy. He's dead last,
and there they are. Boy, look at this staff. I mean,

(22:13):
that's pretty bad, Colin. And here's the big knock. You
remember Chris Carter, obviously the great Vikings wide receiver back
in the day. He went online and kind of was like,
did you watch the first fifty nine minutes of McCarthy
against the Bear?

Speaker 9 (22:27):
He was terrible.

Speaker 8 (22:28):
McCarthy's quarterback coach went after Chris Carter, calling him some
choice words, shall we say, and then had to rescind
him because it's like, oh, well, I didn't know if
this Chris Carter, who's a Vikings legend, things are just
not going great for JJ, but.

Speaker 1 (22:44):
Once GM's and coaches get defensive, somebody's gotten a little
too close to the truth.

Speaker 9 (22:49):
Yes, indeed, my friend.

Speaker 3 (22:51):
Yeah. J mcklenews, Well, that's the news and thanks for
stopping by the Herd Line Now five Jmax picks Next.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and Noone Eastern non a em Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio FS one and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
Well, it's that time of the week when Jmax sees
if he can keep up with our picks this year
that are at a sixty two percent clip. Last week
we went five and h jmack up for the challenge.
So tomorrow's headlines today Giants at the Lions no Jackson

(23:36):
Dart what say you?

Speaker 5 (23:38):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (23:38):
This line's been moving up after the dark news. This
is a layup calling the headline for Lions. Giants will
be Goff the top rope, Lions claw their way back,
love the little wrestling theme obviously, Skataboo and.

Speaker 9 (23:52):
Companies showing up this week.

Speaker 8 (23:55):
Listen, folks, I don't see how you can actually back
Jamis Winston in this spot at all. You're a goff
and Dan Campbell off a loss, thirteen straight wins, thirteen
straight covers. Now I know the bad news today is
Sam Laporta is out likely for the season.

Speaker 9 (24:09):
Colin. That is a huge hit to their offense.

Speaker 8 (24:12):
He is like an elite tight end, probably top three
tight end in the league. That being said, the Giants
defense is a joke. The secondary's pathetic. I think amenro
Jamis and Williams have big games. The Giants rank dead
last in run defense. Colin, this is a Allions team
that should get an easy dub here. The only question, though,
and you brought this up, is the look ahead spot

(24:32):
Thanksgiving against the Packers.

Speaker 9 (24:35):
I don't know. I can't imagine Dan Campbell, who's a
big motivator.

Speaker 8 (24:39):
I can't imagine him just letting his guys think about
Thanksgiving and not focused on the task at hand.

Speaker 3 (24:44):
Good call.

Speaker 1 (24:45):
Tomorrow's headlines today Seahawks and the Titans.

Speaker 8 (24:50):
That one feels ugly. These are too ugly game. This
one's ghastly. That being said, Seattle's fun to watch the
headline for Seahawks Titans from Nashville will be Jim big
Saw puzzle. Seahawks attack corners to solve game. Oh my gosh,
JSN should have a field day against Tennessee colin If
you're we look at the bottom of the NBA and

(25:11):
there's a lot of teams that are already quitting. The
Tennessee Titans have to lead the charge in the NFL.
They're bad across the board. They have no weapons offensively,
the defense is terrible, and last week they suffered a
brutal loss to the immortal Davis Mills. I think there's
a great bounce back for Sam.

Speaker 9 (25:28):
Donald and company.

Speaker 8 (25:29):
How about this McDonald and donald on the road this
year five and zero against the spread. They're the best
against the spread team in the league overall. I do
wonder if maybe there's a slow start, a little hangover
from the Rams loss, because they did fight hard to
come back. But ultimately, like if you want to dabble
in Tennessee first quarter plus three, go for it. But
Seattle will win this game. I don't think they're gonna

(25:49):
run away the way. You know, they beat Arizona by
a million at home, and the Saints they smothered them.

Speaker 9 (25:55):
I don't see that happening here. But this feels like
a thirty to nine kind of route.

Speaker 8 (26:00):
Seahawks take care of business is a legit super Bowl
team if Sam Darnold can avoid mistakes.

Speaker 1 (26:05):
Tomorrow's headlines today New England Patriots is Cincinnati.

Speaker 3 (26:10):
Joe Burrell hung around practice this week.

Speaker 8 (26:13):
Well, it's more than hung around. He's listened as questionable.
They don't know if he's going to a play or not.
Zach Taylor's making us play the waiting game. The headline
for Patriots Bengals will be drake it to you make
it from small startup to big disruptor yeah, baby, listen.

(26:33):
I'm a Patriots hater growing up a Jets fan, and
Tom Brady just put it on us for decades. That
being said, there's a lot to love about this team.
Colin Drake may, by the way, the best deep ball
thrower in the league right now. He is having an
amazing MVP caliber season. You want to guess who's the
worst secondary in the league.

Speaker 9 (26:50):
Cincinnati Bengals.

Speaker 8 (26:53):
There's some analytics that say they're one of the worst
defenses all time. Colin Trey Hendrickson not playing sounds like
he's probably going on the shelf. I don't even think
he's gonna go. And if you look at Cincinnati, like
anytime they play a good team, it's just a beat down.
I mean, they struggled to play with the Jets and Bears.
This is a bad team. No Jamar Chase. So if
it's Joe Flacco and T Higgins, give me Christian Gazales

(27:15):
locking things up.

Speaker 9 (27:16):
I like Patriots to cover a big number.

Speaker 1 (27:18):
Here tomorrow's headlines today, this will win no beauty contests. Falcons.
You love betting Falcons games at the Saints.

Speaker 9 (27:27):
I was betting on the Falcons.

Speaker 8 (27:28):
One of my big misses was that this team thinking
they were gonna be good garbage. The headline for Saints
Falcons will will be dun Kirk. Saints go to war
on Falcons. Yes, New Orleans is favored here, Colin.

Speaker 9 (27:45):
This is this is easy. Okay.

Speaker 8 (27:46):
The last time we saw Kirk Cousins play without Drake London,
both Pennix and London are out. This week they got
destroyed by the Miami Dolphins at home. Well, guess what,
both those guys are out again. People are not falling
for it again. By the way, Kirk last six starts
zero to six against the spread, just one in five
straight up. This is not difficult. Saints load the box

(28:07):
stop Jean Robinson dare Kirk Cousins to throw.

Speaker 9 (28:11):
Down the field. He can't.

Speaker 8 (28:12):
I don't see how the Saints don't win this, possibly
with margin. By the way, Tyler Shook member went to
Carolina and had a pretty good.

Speaker 9 (28:19):
Game, outplayed Bryce Young.

Speaker 8 (28:20):
He now has a bye week, so I would expect Kellen,
Kellen Moore and Shook to cook up some stuff.

Speaker 9 (28:26):
I like the Saints here, I'm on an island.

Speaker 8 (28:28):
They're not very good, but uh, Atlanta's by the way,
played two back to back games.

Speaker 9 (28:33):
One of them was in Berlin that went overtime. They're
in trouble.

Speaker 1 (28:37):
Finally, this is an interesting one. I considered. I considered
taking the box after the Rams came off a big
divisional shootout. Tomorrow's headlines today Tampa Bay beat up at
the Rams. They gave Buffalo troubles, but now they go
back cross country.

Speaker 9 (28:54):
A lot of travel for a fatigue team.

Speaker 8 (28:57):
Fourth road game in their last five plays, a bye week,
and you know they were traveling on that one. The
headline for Tampa Rams from so far will be the
stafford ability crisis. Rams inflated by quarterback value. I love
Stafford here against Todd Bowles. Now, we talked earlier this week.

(29:17):
Todd Bowles loves to blitz. That's in his DNA. They
blitzed at the third highest rate in the league. Matt
Stafford destroys the blitz two games against the Bulls, blitzing
defense with McVeigh seven touchdowns, zero interceptions. Listen, Stafford is
gonna eat these guys up. He's got the healthy wide receivers.
I am concerned two tight ends for the Rams. Colin

(29:38):
went on ir this week, so they won't be able
to go to the three tight end sets that they've
been using. But Tampa's just bowls is up against it.
When they have stepped up in class the last few
weeks against good teams Detroit Buffalo, they're losing and not
covering the spread.

Speaker 9 (29:52):
Bucky Irving just ruled out today. Not great for the
run game, although Tuckers showed well last week.

Speaker 8 (29:58):
Everything on my pag here says Rams continuing to look
like one of the best teams in the league and
a legit Super Bowl contendent.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
Well, you and I both and this is you did
this more than me. But I've never been a fan
of taking favorites, and last year I had a very
average year because I've always been take at least a
B level quarterback in points this year. I take an
over three favorites and one dog. It's really changed the
NFL is whether it's the kickoffs have enhanced field position.

(30:29):
I think it's part of it where you only need
a couple of field First of all, you only need
a couple first downs to get into field goal range
because everybody now can kick a fifty three yard field goal,
so the kickers. There's just more points being scored, and
now a lot of that's baked in. But it does
feel like to me, even backup quarterback plays better. I mean,
Davis Mills last night, Mac Jones is a backup. Not

(30:50):
only did Davis Mills play well, played exceptional, Mac Jones
was exceptional. So it used to be your backup was
kind of like Tyrod Taylor. There was limitations. Yeah, you
could win a game, but you weren't gonna win a shootout. Well,
Mack can win a shootout last night, first half Houston
in a shootout. The quality of even backup play is better.
The rules all tilt offense. The kickoffs. Now we have

(31:12):
four kickoffs this year returned for touchdown, so better field
position and the field goal kickers.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
Had better legs.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
Something happened about three years ago, and it wasn't cheerios.
Everybody can kick a fifty eight yard or now. So
I just find myself, even in games in which you
think you're on the wrong side, it'll go over late
because somebody boots a fifty seven yard field goal.

Speaker 8 (31:32):
And you love to go against bad quarterbacks. These are
the quarterbacks I just went against. Jamis Winston, cam Ward
the rookie, Joe Flacco the backup assuming he starts Kirk Cousins,
and then you know, Baker Mayfield's kind of good fade
the bad quarterbacks.

Speaker 9 (31:45):
That strategy hasn't worked for you.

Speaker 1 (31:46):
Well, there is a I looked I think it was
Monday or Tuesday. I went home and I just I wrote,
I looked at the draft and I there are ten teams.

Speaker 3 (31:56):
It used to be.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
Much smaller, where you'd have three to four maybe unwatchable teams.
It's ten now. I didn't count. I did not count Miami.
I think they're watchable and they can, you know, I
mean there's I still think their schemes are excellent. I
still think they can move the ball. Just don't put
them in cold weather. There's a it's like the NBA.
And I said this two years ago, when the quarterback

(32:17):
became that important. If you don't have one, you can't compete.
And I'm we're not even the Thanksgiving yet and there
are Lions will win by blowout. Seahawks should win comfortably.
I'll get the spreads in the NFL. They look like
college spreads, and that's because the league is now so
quarterback reliant for success.

Speaker 3 (32:40):
All right, good stuff.

Speaker 1 (32:41):
I want to thank Albert Breer for stopping by Julian
Edelman taking time for the Herd on a Friday. First
things first, around the corner
