Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Oh it is a Fried day.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
We got a spicy show, Blazing five in an hour,
red hot sixty two percent. I'll do something in the
Blazing five I'm not sure I've ever done before in
one hour. Josh Allen upset they couldn't get the plane
on time.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
So Buffalo, wherever.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
You may be, however you may be listening or watching,
thanks for making us part of your day. So Josh
Allen once again feels like a six foot six pinata
upset time last night. So four things are happening with Buffalo,
none of them good. They become very turnover prone. Three

(01:09):
last night Houston with no run game ran for over
one hundred yards.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
The O line got worked. And oh, by the.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
Way, they have no deep thread at all. Other than that,
things are great. You know a lot of times quarterbacks
let down a franchise. I feel like the franchise can't
get the playing on time is letting down Josh Allen.
I mean, Davis Mills is a pro. I get it,
but he engineered two long drives seventy seven to seventy

(01:36):
five yards. My eyes tell me I watch that game.
You watch that game. Texans have better players that there's
seven or eight great rosters in this league. Buffalo's not
one of them. They're not one of them. I mean,
at D line wide receiver in corner, Houston's much better.
It's not close. I don't want to hear that Ed
Oliver's hurt. It's the NFL, or the Dalton Kincaid's not available,

(02:00):
you have two other tight ends, or that Keon Coleman.
The young receivers a bit immature, went a league full
young guys. The Texans were missing their quarterback, and the
Bills are getting into a really bad habit of losing
the average quarterbacks. Their last three losses are to Tua,
Michael Pennix, and Davis Mills. And I know he's a pro,

(02:24):
but Davis Mills should not be beating Josh Allen. I
don't want to see chef boy r d out cooking
Bobby Flay ever under any circumstances period. So now Josh
Allen clearly is pressing because he doesn't have a deep threat.
Houston's got a real defense. He's been pressing this year,
so as turnovers are up, he has three more picks

(02:44):
than all of last season. And why nobody's opened down field.
You can't win super Bowls in this league where every
drive is fourteen plays. You need a Jamier Gibbs to
peel a big one off, for Justin Jefferson to go
over the top, for Devonte Adams to be his man.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
Buffalo didn't have that.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Houston had more speed, a little bit more size, more depth.
So Buffalo suddenly now can only win one way. Josh
Allen has to have three or more touchdowns and last
week he had six. They can win that way. Not sustainable,
and he's only missed four games in his career. But
Josh Allen, on more than one occasion last night, got

(03:25):
up slowly. And I don't care that he's six y six.
Go ask Cam Newton and Big Ben who took a
beating because they extended plays put themselves in the crosshairs.
It's not all the offensive line's fault. He extends plays,
he can run backwards. He did that a couple times
last night. But go ask Cam and Big Ben who

(03:46):
were six six. It takes years off your prime. So
Josh Allen is thirty now and he's going to be
out of this prime in a couple of years. So
buffalo to me, Brandon being the g he didn't have
enough help offensively. It's on you. It's on Sean McDermott
can't get a play it on time. It's on the

(04:08):
old line, It's on the wide receivers. Yes, Keon Coleman
is a bit immature at this point in his life.
You got to do the homework when you draft him.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
You know.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Young receivers like that sometimes have red flags. You gotta
do the homework. That's part of it, you know. And
so you know, young guy being a bit immature, welcome
to professional sports. I don't want to hear blaming him.
So I all I know is in this league we
beat up on quarterbacks when they can't carry a good

(04:37):
coach or carry a good roster.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
I feel like you got the quarterback.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
You can't be losing it to him and backups and
Michael Pennix can't can't happen. Josh Allen is forcing it.
Josh Allen's frustrated. He got clobbered last night now again.
Houston's defensive front, I mean, Houston's defense overall looks great.
In the back end, they're really good. They're not that good.

(05:04):
Here's the coach and Josh.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
After when they hit their quarterback twelve times.

Speaker 5 (05:10):
You know, I don't like that.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
I don't like that stat at all.

Speaker 6 (05:14):
And it's not a healthy way to play or a
healthy way to keep our quarterback healthy through the remainder
of the season.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
I gotta be better.

Speaker 7 (05:23):
I'm throwing the ball away and living to see another
down and letting this play some situational football and pen
them deep. And too many times I was going backwards,
and I gotta be better on.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
That, speaking of another very talented quarterback. Sunday and sunny
Chicago Bears host the Steelers, and there's a lot of
Caleb Williams critics and doubters. I am not one of them,
although I do think sometimes I'd like to see more
consistent accuracy. But for the doubters and critics, this is

(05:56):
a game that you are waiting to see right because
Pittsburgh punishes you. They forced eleven turnovers with Daniel Jones
and Drake May. Those teams are combined seventeen and four,
and those teams are better than Pittsburgh, but Pittsburgh beat
them because they took the ball away. The Steelers are

(06:16):
five and zero when they win the turnover battle, and
it's the only way Pittsburgh's gonna win this weekend. Why
because Aaron Rodgers is not one hundred percent and he's old,
and they cannot run the football. Okay, so Pittsburgh is
last week they played since the four touchdowns two aur
on defense. That's how Pittsburgh wins now, especially with Aaron
probably playing about seventy five eighty percent. The running game

(06:38):
is bad. It's not getting better, so this should be
a low scoring game. Whoever wins the turnover battle probably
wins the game. That's how Pittsburgh's going to have to win.
And it probably should be one of those games where
Caleb Williams plays in structure and it's kind of boring.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Boring will win.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Because I think Chicago is the better team, and they're
at home, and they have the better offense, and the
weather's not going to be an issue. So this is
a classic game in the NFL for a young quarterback
to have to understand what he needs to deliver. This
does not need to be a highlight. Get rid of
the ball quickly, Do not tease or challenge TJ. Watt,

(07:26):
stay in the pocket, get rid of it. Play with instructure.
Caleb does not throw a lot of picks. But if
he's going to this Pittsburgh team with Mike Tomlin is
a great underdog team. Tomlin's is going to underdog coach
and motivator as the league has and Aaron's banged up

(07:46):
and they can't run the ball, So there is a
way Mike Tomlin is preaching, we're taking the ball away
from the young guy. We got to create turnovers. We
have to score in defense and special teams. That's their
route to win. Chicago can win multiple ways, but the
absolute way they'll lose is to play in at Tomlin,

(08:07):
which is turnovers and giveaways. So I think I think
Caleb's gonna play well. I think Chicago's the better team.
I think the weather sets up for him. I like
Chicago in this spot, don't love him, like him. And
here's Mike Tomlin unfacing Caleb Williams and I.

Speaker 8 (08:28):
Can't say enough about what I've seen from Caleb Williams.
Certainly I had studied him a lot, being in a
young guy in this league and an NFC guy, but
just really impressed with his physical talents. His ability to
throw the football is his accuracy, his arm strength, his
ability to extend, his ability to see the full feel

(08:49):
while doing so, minimizing negativity. The creativity associated with his
escapability and play extension is really challenging.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
Now, Drake May has been unbelievable this year. He unraveled
against the Steelers, Daniel Jones and the Colts offense number
one in the league in efficiency. Daniel Jones unraveled against
Pittsburgh and the culture better than Pittsburgh. Let's be honest
about that. New England's better than Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh beat them

(09:22):
both one way. The defense creates turnovers. That is the
way Pittsburgh wins this weekend. So can Caleb play really?
Play with instructure kind of be boring, Get rid of
the ball quickly, don't, don't, don't tease TJ. Watt, don't
it's not good. So I think it's a fascinating game.

(09:44):
And if you're a critic, or a doubter of Caleb Williams.
You're sitting there on X You're just ready to push send.
You are just ready to push toll you. So I
think I think Chicago's a better team, whether plays the part,
Aaron's banged up. I think they're gonna win. J Mac

(10:04):
Spicy Show today, Shador Sanders, I can't wait. You know,
the NFL's king when two and eight faces two and
eight and I can't wait to watch. And it's gonna
be a merchandise floodgate for the NFL this weekend. Shador
is gonna sell nothing but jerseys.

Speaker 9 (10:22):
And we got to we definitely have to talk about
the Cowboys and the alleged vomit and the casino the
night before the game that may or may not be true.

Speaker 5 (10:30):
I love that story.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
But Colin, I want.

Speaker 5 (10:32):
To go to Houston, which you open with. Somebody just
pointed this out.

Speaker 9 (10:35):
So the division leaders from last year, these are the
folks who won the division. Buffalo, Baltimore, Houston, and Kansas City.
Probably two of those are going to miss the playoffs
this year. So next August, assuming you know we're still
doing the show, we have to remember, do not get
Chalky and say, oh, yeah, these are the good teams
because every year this wacky, crazy stuff happens.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
Now Houston's one, I think three straight. I always say
what I look at a coach. That's why I've always
defended Lincoln Riley. His side of the ball has been
unbelievable at USC. This is where all support Demiko ryans
that defense is a handful.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
They may c j.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
Stroud, may get banged up. Their run game stinks. You know,
their number one backs out, But you look at that
defense Josh Allen last night, and again he didn't have
a lot to work with. You could the reason he
was holding the ball. It was like Houston had twelve
guys in the field. There was nothing, not a lot available.
I mean, I love that fourth and whatever big pickup.
That was a wonderful play. Then they you know, it'd

(11:36):
be nice if they could get you know, the biggest
play of the game in on time. But Houston is
defensively an elite team.

Speaker 9 (11:42):
Well, it'd be nice if the Buffalo Bills had a
wide receiver who could separate. I don't know, maybe they
should have got one in the offseason or at the
trade deadline because Josh Allen's look looking around. Nobody's open, Colin,
And by the way, the offensive line, can we get
Deon Dawkins? He loves coming on the show. I mean,
they were obliterated last night. How are they gonna win
three straight road playoffs games and go to the super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
They're not.

Speaker 4 (12:04):
They're not.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
Buffalo's not going to the super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
They're not.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd Weekdays

But here's the thing.

Speaker 10 (12:21):
We never have enough time to get to everything we
want to get to.

Speaker 11 (12:24):
And that's why we have a brand new podcast called
over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun in
our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
Yeah, you blubber list lame and me.

Speaker 10 (12:39):
Well, you know what it's called over promise. You should
be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years.

Speaker 11 (12:43):
Well, it's a Cavino and Rich after show and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk
life and relationships. And if Rich and I are arguing
about something or we didn't have enough time, it will
continue on our after show called over Promised.

Speaker 10 (12:57):
Well, if you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make
sure you check out over Promised and also Uncensored, by
the way, so maybe we'll go at it even.

Speaker 8 (13:03):
A little harder.

Speaker 10 (13:04):
It's gonna be the best after show podcast of all time.

Speaker 11 (13:07):
There you go, over Promising, and remember you could see
it on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen to over
Promised with Cadino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
Blazing five, Red Hot, top of Next Hour, Smoking Hot.
I'll do something I don't recall ever doing in the
Blazing fot.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
Gotta take Chances.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
Wasn't a great numbers week, so this weekend Dallas off
a nice impress At Monday night when they were healthy
defensively Clauber the Raiders and now Philadelphia comes to town.
Cowboys are a three and a half point underdog. And
what's really noteworthy is that Dak Prescott, I'm not really
an awards guy, or a or a you know stat guy,

(13:55):
you know whatever.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
Dak is going to become.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
If he throws for one hundred and sixty yard yards
the all time Cowboys leader team record in yards thrown
for now, he'll surpass Tony Romo. Now, Dak did have
two advantages over Romo. Dak for about a seven year
stretch had the best offensive line in the NFL. Tony
Romo for a lot of years was running for his life.
And number two, it's more of a passing league now

(14:19):
than when Tony Romo Rakeman played. But here's where I
love Dak. Tony Romo always felt like he was ad
libbing a little more, especially late, than I'd love from
my quarterback plan out of structure, Dak feels very prepared,
can play out of structure, is great in it and
much more focused. Dak is a professional quarterback and the

(14:42):
Cowboys are third in the league in points since he arrived.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
He is mature, he is prepared.

Speaker 1 (14:48):
It's all about football and team, and he's an unbelievable leader.
I know he was a fourth round draft pick. I
understand that he is a blue chip, five star leader.
He's had three head coaches, he's had four offensive coordinators.
Jerry's gotten a little quirkier as he's aged. He had
the Zeke circus, the Dak circus, distracted Micah, and yet

(15:09):
Dak just always shows up and wins double digit games.
Even with Brian Schottenheimer. We all had our doubts. Dallas
is an elite offense. So even this week Raiders game,
why didn't see thee Lamb and George Pickens start? They
were out at the Red Rock Casino having a few
flavored cocktails and miss.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
Curfew and it didn't matter.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
Dak went out and threw four touchdowns one hundred and
thirty nine passer rating. Dak is the guy at the
podium on Wednesday pregame, postgame, a circus and noise all
around him, plays with instructure, unbelievably coachable, and as good
a leader as the NFL has at his position. It's

(15:53):
why I always say, that's why I'm so hard on
the Johnny Manziel's out there. That's why I'm so tough
on silly Jamis wins, maturity, focus, no distractions. There's enough
noise in Dallas. Dak never has to provide it. He's
just the cold water to the fire. This week, And
here's Jerry Jones on Dak before he faces at home Eagles.

Speaker 4 (16:17):
He is the best leader that I've been around for
a team and period. And he just has a natural
just a natural sense of what the situation calls for.
He's had it since he walked through the door. From
the get go. This year, he's been our stalwart relative

(16:41):
to our chance to win this year.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
Yeah, tours self awareness. It is absolutely crucial for one
position on a football field at all times. It doesn't
matter if there's a cultural or social change in America
or Jerry saying something on his Monday show or game
changing coaches, changing coordinators, immature teammates, never matters. Dak a

(17:07):
plus plus on those intangible quarterback needs to be a
legend rooting for Dak to break that record. Maybe not
the elite arm talent of the Mahomes, but in the
stuff that matters, like leadership, maturity and focus and preparation.
Good as the league has good for him. Jmack with

(17:28):
the news, Turn on the news.

Speaker 9 (17:32):
This is the herdline news all right, con Let's start
with the drama kings the Philadelphia Eagles. Boy, they have
been a storyline all week. It's funny. I mean, they're
hurtling towards the number one seed in the NFC. Yet
it's drama after drama. The latest AJ Brown colin he
gave an interview in the locker room yesterday and I

(17:52):
don't We're gonna have to talk about it afterwards. Just
listen to this nonsense from AJ Brown the.

Speaker 5 (18:00):
Chandler's pass near by downs.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
I think A J. He paid a lot of attention
to what others like, what makes so?

Speaker 8 (18:10):
Now?

Speaker 4 (18:13):
Why not?

Speaker 12 (18:14):
Gives me upset?

Speaker 4 (18:17):
So I stay away from it.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
There's some speculation out there that you are not the
same player.

Speaker 5 (18:24):
And the same player either that.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
All right, I see maturity, I see what I see
a player that's not going to be induced into a headline.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
I like that from A J.

Speaker 1 (18:36):
Brown.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
So no, no.

Speaker 5 (18:36):
They asked him, hey, are you maybe you're not the
same player as you were last year? And he said, well,
I guess Squon Barkley's not either.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
That's exactly right. That so he's saying, is that's a
ridiculous question. Are you also saying that because his production
down is not the same player, that's not being that's
not starting a fire. If somebody asked me the same question, well,
why are numbers down? Well, Saquon's are down? Is he abom?
That doesn't bother me at all. That's like, if you
want to ask an aggressive question, then I'm going to

(19:04):
give you an aggressive answer.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
And I like that from AJ Browns.

Speaker 9 (19:08):
So do you think this is the distraction for the
Eagles heading into a huge game against Dallas?

Speaker 1 (19:13):
I said two years ago, I thought there was too
much drama between Hurtz and AJ brown I was on
it two years ago. I said they should have traded
him at the Super Bowl the trade deadline. But now
that you haven't, you can't get upset with that quote.
That can't bother you. If you're not gonna move him,
then you have to. He could have easily poured gas
on those questions and he's like, you're not.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
Gonna do it to me? No, thank you.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
I mean, after fifteen questions from inkstain Wretch's in Philadelphia,
he has a right to an opinion.

Speaker 9 (19:42):
Yeah, okay, So it's interesting. There's no sound coming out
from sa Quon Barkley yesterday. There's no sound coming out
from Jalen Hurts.

Speaker 5 (19:49):
Yesterday, nothing really all week.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
Why is that?

Speaker 9 (19:52):
Because they're not given this nonsense to the media. No,
Brown is essentially like, hey, you're not going to throw
me the ball? Fine, media, come over here, and then
I'm gonna give you.

Speaker 5 (19:59):
Some ass answers.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
No, So, really, rancaus se Quon is in the story
this year.

Speaker 3 (20:05):
He's not producing.

Speaker 5 (20:06):
He went from two thousand yards to like five hundred.
That's not a story.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
Well it's not. I mean, the Philadelphia media will go
to the locker that they feel will provide them the
best quotes.

Speaker 3 (20:16):
So don't blame the athlete when they.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
All come around your chair and pepper you with aggressive
questions and you say, that's a ridiculous weather. If Saquon's
numbers are down, is he a bad player? That doesn't
bother me at all.

Speaker 9 (20:29):
So you know all, Colin, I've defended AJ Brown through
much of this. Okay, we need him to win the
super Bowl. You get to a super Bowl with him,
then you win a super Bowl with him. AJ Brown
is instrumental to this team. But Colin, this is a
division leading eight and two team.

Speaker 5 (20:43):
I've had enough.

Speaker 9 (20:44):
I think he's trying to sabotage the season. He's very
unhappy with what's going on.

Speaker 5 (20:49):
A first place.

Speaker 3 (20:49):
Team with the best.

Speaker 9 (20:51):
Odds to get to the super Bowl in the NFC,
and he's ruffling up issues, causing drama all the time.

Speaker 5 (20:57):
Colin, I'm done with him.

Speaker 9 (20:58):
I believe in the offseason it's time the Eagles team
to move off AJ Brown.

Speaker 5 (21:02):
Yes, I would you agree with that.

Speaker 3 (21:03):
I felt that a year ago, but.

Speaker 5 (21:05):
Now I mean I start exploring option, trade, cut, well,
dead money. I'm done.

Speaker 1 (21:09):
I don't need this, no options until the season is over.
You had your moment Howie Roseman said we're going to
keep him, I said Devonte Smith. Tight end Saquon Jalen
Hurts is more than enough to win a super Bowl
because the defense for Philly this year is about seven
really high end players, most in their prime. I think
you can win a super Bowl with that defense and
a decent offense. But they'll move him in the offseason,

(21:32):
and he'll have takers. He's a great player.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
Yeah, he'll have.

Speaker 9 (21:35):
Takers because they'll be like, oh, this guy's awesome, and
then six games in he's going.

Speaker 5 (21:39):
To turn into this.

Speaker 9 (21:40):
I'm just disappointed that Jalen Hurts are real pros. Pro
has to deal with this nonsense. All right, let's go to.

Speaker 5 (21:46):
The Kansas City Chiefs. Colin. They have a big uphill
climb to the playoffs.

Speaker 9 (21:51):
Listen, they're five and five and according to the mathematical calculations,
forty three percent chance to make the playoffs. Now if
they lose, if they choke as favorites and lose to
the Colts, their chances to make the playoffs drop to
twenty seven percent.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
Well, now that Buffalo can't beat Davis Mills and if
they beat the Colts, and by the way, we'll see
what the Chargers do. Big game for the Chargers. So
here's uh, the Charger Who are the Chargers? Are the
Chargers gonna buy I believe they are? Okay, my bad,
the Chargers are gonna buy my bad.

Speaker 9 (22:29):
According to Matt Nagy, there's nobody better to have at
the Helm than Andy Reid in these dire situations.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
He's the best leader in these moments.

Speaker 6 (22:38):
Right now, when you get into that is like, okay, schematically,
are we putting our guys in the best positions possible
throughout the game? And then when the when the plays
are called and the guys go out there in that moment,
are we doing it exactly how it's supposed to be done?
With the details.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
Coach Read.

Speaker 6 (22:57):
When you talk about day one with coach Read and
his organization and his team, the number one thing you
talk about and you learn as a player in coaches
details that matters.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
Great game.

Speaker 1 (23:10):
I tend to favor high scoring in this game. Chiefs
in a high scoring, wildly entertaining game over the Colts.

Speaker 5 (23:19):
So I'll be honest with the audience.

Speaker 9 (23:21):
I didn't have the stones the intestinal fortitudo to go
against the Chiefs at home, so they're not in headlines.
But I did find an interesting stat Colin, this is
kind of crazy. The Chiefs defense has given up eighty
one percent completions against play action this season, worse than
the league.

Speaker 5 (23:38):
Do you want to guess how Daniel Jones.

Speaker 9 (23:40):
Does in play action with Shane Steichen's offense seventy percent
completions nine point two yards per attempt. I mean, the
Chiefs are going to have to pick their poison. Do
we want to let Jonathan Taylor run all over us?
Or do we want to get burned down the field
by Pittman, Warren and company in the play action? I
want to take the Colts. But I'm being a little
bit of a whist Colin. I notice you whisked out

(24:02):
as well. A final story, Let's go to the Seahawks.
My guy Zach brought me one of the craziest stats.
I was not aware of this. Did you know the
Seahawks lead the NFL and turnovers? Yes?

Speaker 5 (24:15):
What, the Seahawks are incredible and they lead the league
in turnovers. A lot of that has to do with.

Speaker 9 (24:20):
Your boy, Sam Darnald Colin. The interceptions are a problem.
Here's Donald talking about reining in the picks.

Speaker 13 (24:29):
I mean, it's unacceptable. You know, we understand as an
offense we have to be better. I have to be
better protecting the football. And we're doing everything that we
can in practice and when the game comes to try to,
you know, take care of the football a little bit better.

Speaker 9 (24:48):
So the other turnover leaders are the Vikings, Dolphins, and Begels.

Speaker 5 (24:53):
They have something in common.

Speaker 9 (24:54):
They're not going to the playoffs, okay, and the Seahawks
somehow lead the league in turnovers and are going the
playoffs and maybe go to the Super Bowl.

Speaker 5 (25:02):
Sam Donald Colin third in the NFL in interceptions.

Speaker 4 (25:06):
I did.

Speaker 5 (25:06):
They're playing so well. I didn't even realize that. Does
Donald have a bit of an issue that he needs
to tighten up?

Speaker 9 (25:12):
Here.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
Well, I mean they're also of those four teams mentioned,
they have the deepest, most talented athletic speed on offense.
So they're a team that is a lot. It's the
second youngest offense in the league. They're growing. Yeah, I
mean it's again. I supported Andrew Luck, I support Sam Donald,
Peyton Manning. You can go Joe Namath, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre.

(25:33):
I can live with picks. Brady threw a pick six
in a Super Bowl? Are you productive? Are you willing
to throw the ball down the field? Do you score touchdowns?
Does your team score all that stuff? He checks all
those boxes. He is an incredibly dynamic athletic quarterback.

Speaker 4 (25:50):
I love that.

Speaker 9 (25:51):
I'm sure the audience picked this up. All those quarterbacks
you just rattled off. You were like, Sam Donald throw's picks.
So does Andrew Luck, Tom Brady, all these legends in
the NFL.

Speaker 3 (26:01):
And Sam Darnl's name.

Speaker 5 (26:02):
Crowbart in there. Well done, sir, J.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
Mack with the news.

Speaker 2 (26:08):
Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping by the
herd Line News.

Speaker 1 (26:13):
I am I saw something yesterday. I don't ever root
for people to get fired, but I saw the Lakers
fired Joey Buss and Jesse Buss, Janie's brothers. They were
fired yesterday and they'd been with the team for a
long time. I guess one of their accomplishments was getting
undrafted Austin Reeves. They deserve credit for that. But it
is official now, the Mark Walter group. It's no longer

(26:37):
the Lakers are no longer a mom and pop operation.
They have entered the twenty first century. Too many friends
of the Bus family and members of the Bus family
for a decade. GM Rob Polinka was Kobe's agent. He
actually I don't have a problem with him. Pulled off
the Luca deal. Austin Reeves deserves credit. But the Lakers

(26:57):
new owners or the Dodgers owners, and they got rid
of stars, and they're unbelievable in research and development. In fact,
last night, name Drop, I went to dinner with the
Chicago Cubs owner Tom Ricketts, wonderful guy, and I asked
him about the Dodgers and he said, man, that ownership
group is really smart. Could have been envious. He's like, no,

(27:18):
they really are smart. The Lakers officially will be playing
by a new standard, okay, And if Austin Reeves signs
a new contract. It will be and should be Laker friendly.
They don't need another guy that needs the ball and
plays limited defense. So the Western Conference is loaded with

(27:40):
sharp general managers, very good coaches, stacked rosters, and all
sorts of youth. Lebron James at forty should absolutely not
be part of their future. If you want to let
him play this year and you want to keep him
to the trade deadline, I'm for it. But the Rams
and the Dodgers are brilliantly run and you cannot look

(28:04):
at Lebron. And this is a very touchy subject, right
at least it was with a bus family.

Speaker 3 (28:09):
What to do with Lebron?

Speaker 1 (28:10):
He's forty. We all know what to do, which is
JJ Reddick, who, by the way, is the eighth coach
since Phil Jackson left. And JJ Reddick has some luck
on his side because his ownership group is the real deal.
All you have to do is watch the Dodgers. They
let Seeker go and Trey Turner go, and Cody Bellinger

(28:31):
and Manny Machado and the deferred payments. You go. Look
at the Dodgers the way they negotiated their local TV deal.

Speaker 3 (28:39):
They were unbelievably.

Speaker 1 (28:41):
Savvy So, by the way, the Athletic did a survey,
a poll of Major League Baseball gms and executives, and
even with all the envy with the Dodgers, they finished
number one, triple as many first place votes as any
other team.

Speaker 3 (29:00):
And you know there's a lot of envy in the Dodgers.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
Athletic did a poll on the NBA front offices. Lakers
did not get one first place vote. I'm just telling
you how the league views them. So the standard now
for the Lakers sports in twenty twenty five, all of
them are smarter. Okay, you can no longer lean on hey.

(29:24):
Players love to play in LA. Players love to play
with great coaches, great gms, great rosters. Players like the
hoist trophies. They can make a fortune in Oklahoma City.
They want to play on good teams, stack rosters, make money,
hoist trophies. That's what players want. So, I mean, I

(29:45):
be honest about it. The last several years when the
Bus family owned it, You're like, uh, who's controlling the franchise?
Rob Jeanie Lebron, Mark Walter and that group are controlling
the franchise. No longer a mine and pop shop, and
it has been for too long, all right, blazing five

(30:06):
at the top of the hour, and uh.

Speaker 3 (30:10):
I'm not guilty.

Speaker 1 (30:12):
I'm I'm, I'm I don't feel.

Speaker 3 (30:16):
Bad for what I'm about to say.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
I can't wait to watch the Cleveland Browns and Shadour
Sanders and the Raiders.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
No guilt. I'm gonna have a no guilt weekend.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
I can't wait to watch two, two and eighteen because
of the Chadure Sanders soap opera that next The Herd.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd Weekdays
and Noone Easter not a em Pacific.

Speaker 5 (30:43):
Tomorrow on Fox.

Speaker 9 (30:45):
A huge day of football kicks off with Big Noon
Saturday as Julian's saying and top ranked Ohio State look
to keep their perfect season alive against Rutgers, then at
for TCU battles Houston and an eight BYU makes They're
pushed for the playoffs against Cincinnati, and all begins at
Big Noon Saturday, only on Fox.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
There are eleven different Chadre Sanders prop bets for Sunday
as Cleveland takes on the Raiders. So I know some
of you think, Colin, you media people are blowing this
out of proportion. Folks, say it out loud, famous young athlete.

(31:29):
Dad's a superstar. Many fans think his career is being
sabotaged by the general manager and head coach. He plummets
in the draft, laughs about it, and oh, by the way,
multiple speeding tickets in camp? Is that not interesting? TMZ
was built on guys like Shadur. It's fascinating. It's a

(31:52):
soap opera.

Speaker 4 (31:53):
Now.

Speaker 1 (31:53):
I don't think he's going to be great against the Raiders.
Why because I don't think he's great. But we all
love tension, and you have real tension here. There's a
lot of people that absolutely believe that the Cleveland Browns
are mismanaging and under coaching him and are rooting against
him actively. I don't let's see who's right. So, and

(32:15):
I've said this before, not every game has to be
the super Bowl or Ohio State Michigan, or a Dodger
Yankee World Series or you know, Duke Carolina. I grew
up on Evil Knievel and I've always loved watching the
Little League World Series and this has a Jake Paul
fight reality television show.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
I'll be Andy Cohen.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
Between Max Crosby and the Raiders and the Chener Sanders
and the Cleveland Browns and I can't wait. I mean,
Tim Tebow games were ugly, they were kind of interesting.
They got massive ratings for different reasons. So I don't
think he's going to be great, But you can't tell
me it's not interesting. Two and eight versus two and eight.
NFL's king for this reason. I would be shocked if

(33:01):
this doesn't get a it's a spectacle. If it doesn't
get a real number. And you know, again, not every
game that is fascinating is fascinating because the teams are great.
We're watching the Buffalo Bills fall apart.

Speaker 3 (33:16):
That is fascinating.

Speaker 1 (33:18):
I mean last night with that game my show today,
if Buffalo won by twenty, it's not an interesting game.
The fact Buffalo loss is interesting. I mean I said,
I think I said this yesterday. If you told me
I could pick the three most interesting things from the
weekend if I and I always say, I root for interesting,

(33:39):
If you told me three things I wished happened, it
would be Shador Sanders is amazing, the Cowboys upset the Eagles,
Caleb Williams wins again out duels Aaron Rodgers. That would
be a great Monday Show and Lane Keffn says, I

(34:00):
ask you here, I come. I'm sorry, they're interesting. Here
is Chadere on his first NFL start.

Speaker 12 (34:07):
I think it's gonna be excited. I know a lot
of y'all gonna be there. I know you can't miss it.
You cannot miss this moment. It'll be definitely exciting. We're
going out there with a purpose, going out there, men,
So are you ready? No distractions? Know anything, and you
know I'll be excited.

Speaker 1 (34:27):
He's a likable guy. I don't love his judgment or
his sometimes lack of self awareness. He seems like a
pleasant kid, So I don't think he's gonna be great.
He made a couple of great plays. I would probably
if I was gonna bet it, I think i'd probably
go raiders here because I have a veteran quarterback and
I have Max Crosby and Chadur's first start.

Speaker 3 (34:50):
But I don't.

Speaker 1 (34:51):
It's way better for the show if he's amazing, way
way everybody thinks he's going to struggle outside of the
conspiracy theory dorks, but it would be way better if
he's amazing. An amazing would be twenty one of twenty
seven two touchdowns, No picks sack two or three times.
You know, realistically, a couple of ran backwards got whacked.

(35:11):
I mean, that's kind of his game.

Speaker 3 (35:14):
But I'm rooting for it.

Speaker 1 (35:15):
So for the years I've been doing this whenever somebody
for a team, it could be a player, it could
be a GM, it could be a coach.

Speaker 3 (35:24):
Whenever they get.

Speaker 1 (35:25):
Really really annoyed with the media, it's generally because the
media poked him where they're already a little sore. So
Brandon being this offseason, got very mad with the Buffalo
radio show. And again, Buffalo is a smaller market like

(35:47):
Green Bay, pretty supportive of the local team. But the
Bills went out in this last draft and they just
they just drafted defensive guys. They went and got a
tight end out of George in the fifth round. Who's
a nice number three tight end.

Speaker 3 (35:59):
Good pick. I like that pick, But it was just
all defense.

Speaker 1 (36:02):
Now, I've said before once you it's an offensive league,
so you should pay a star quarterback, a star left tackle,
and a weapon or two. I believe, outside of a
great defensive lineman, you should just draft defense. Keep defense
young and twitchy and inexpensive. So I generally I defend

(36:23):
GMS once they have the quarterback right and the left
tackle right, and the Bills do draft defense. Just pay
Josh and Dion Dawkins and James Cook whatever you got
to pay him. Draft defense. Ed Oliver's good. He's not great,
but he is good and they pay him. So I
will defend Buffalo's draft last year. But the fact that

(36:45):
he got so worked out when the Buffalo media said
we need receivers, why didn't with the first five picks
you take a receiver.

Speaker 14 (36:54):
You guys were bitching in twenty eighteen about Josh Allen.
You guys wanted Josh Rosen, and now you guys are
bitching that we don't have a receiver.

Speaker 1 (37:01):
I don't get it.

Speaker 14 (37:02):
No one scored more points than the Buffalo Bills, including
the Super Bowl champions. How is this group not better
than last year's group? Like, I don't like. Our job
is to score points and win games. Where do we
need to get better defense? We did that, so I
get it. You got to have a show and you
got to have something to bitch about. But bitching about

(37:23):
wide receiver is one of the dumbest arguments I've heard.

Speaker 1 (37:25):
It's really not because you have to contextualize why they're
scoring points. Josh Allen, try a backup for a week,
see how it goes. Baltimore went with Tyler Huntley and
scored thirty points against Chicago, a seventy three team, because
Baltimore does a lot well bolt the Rams a couple
of years ago won a game. Baker Mayfield came in,

(37:48):
had one practice Minnesota. Josh Dobbs, no practices, won a game.
Me through it for three hundred and fifty yards. The
reason you're number one is because you have probably the
single most talented player that's ever played the position. And
in your division, the Jets are a circus. Miami's a
slightly more competent circus. And last year, a couple of

(38:11):
years ago, when you were beating the pants off in
New England, they were a disaster. They're now winning the division.
So I don't think, I mean, I can't just like
your running backs and tight ends. It's not nineteen fifty four,
no wing tea. I need to like your receivers, and
I'm not saying you have to pay a couple of them,
but you got a great slot receiver and that's kind
of it.

Speaker 3 (38:30):
And he know Keon Coleman's immature.

Speaker 1 (38:32):
You got to bake that in. A lot of young
receivers are so it's not just that the media is
trying to stir something. Smaller market media is usually incredibly supportive.
You go to Philly, Boston, New York, Dallas, Atlanta, it
gets a little loud. And they got a lot of options,
and they got multiple pro and college teams. But when

(38:52):
the Bills have lost this season, they have averaged sixteen
point five points, you're losing it to it and Davis Mills.
Davis Mills engineered two long drives, so I think it's
fair game to criticize not drafting a receiver again. I
am for keeping your defense young and cheap. I think

(39:14):
this is an offensive league. I don't understand what the
Steelers are doing year after year after year having the
most expensive defense in the league. I don't get it.

Speaker 3 (39:23):
I like what the Rams do. I like mostly what
the Chiefs do.

Speaker 1 (39:26):
They paid Chris Jones, and then it's mostly they pay
offensive guys. And even they had to move off Joe Tooney,
so you don't have to be the Bengals and have
T Higgins and Jamar Chase. But I think it was
a fair criticism. And it's not just hey, we had
a great offense. Well, I mean Philadelphia. I'll give you
an example. Philadelphia won the Super Bowl and keeps winning,

(39:47):
and all their GM does is tweak tweak, trade, trade, tweak, tweet, tweak, tweak.
Philadelphia could be like, hey, won the Super Bowl, we
don't need to make any moves at the trade deadline.
But Howie Roseman's like, our passing game is not good enough,
and our offensive.

Speaker 3 (40:00):
Line where we're banged up.

Speaker 1 (40:03):
So Philadelphia wins super bowls and they're and they are
making move after move after move at a trade deadline.
Why because you've got to stay ahead of it. You
got to see problems. What's the old business saying, got
to see around corners. You got to see the problems
before they rise. So when you went into a season
and you're hoping Keon Coleman becomes a number one receiver,

(40:26):
that's rough that that that position creates drama and has drama.
So uh blazing five at the top of next hour
sixty one point eight on the season, Listen, there's a
bad week coming. Maybe it's this one, it's it's we
can put the NFL schedule up. I when you look

(40:47):
at this schedule, it does not look like it's going
to be wildly entertaining. But just keep your eye on Colts, Chiefs, Steelers, Bears,
keep your eye and Jags, Arizona, Dallas, Philadelphia. Now Dallas
has getting three and a half at home. J Mack
has brought up the points. The first meeting, Jalen Carter

(41:09):
didn't play and they didn't have Jalen Phillips, and the
O line for Dallas in pass protection is dicey, but
I will say without Lane Johnson, this Philadelphia offense comes
to a screeching halt and Dallas is finally healthy last week.
I tend to think it's a low scoring game. So
if I had to take a side, this was the

(41:32):
last game that I dropped from the Blazing five. I
had Dallas plus three and a half. It was the
last game I dropped. It would be if I picked
six that would be in it.

Speaker 9 (41:41):
Elliott's a good kicker for the Eagles, but he's no
Brandon Aubrey, and indoors Brandon Aubrey. I mean, you don't
need to get too far in the Eagles territory before
your kicker is a weapon. So I do like the
Dallas Special Teams angle. For sure, that's gonna be a
great game.

Speaker 1 (41:55):
Great game. Eagles at the Cowboys, and there is your reality.
